TUNNELING IS AN MMR ISSUE, I've met multiple people that are having ######### game after ######### game because of it.
How do you 100% win games as killer without question?
get someone out early.
run a bunch of chase and regression perks.
run good addons.
I can't get behind a system they won't even explain to us. That's my biggest issue.
NO game with an mmr system HIDES IT FROM YOU.
Its ######### ridiculous.
How is that an MMR issue if that's how gameplay works?
If you always sweat your ass to tunnel someone ASAP at some point you'll face survivors able to deal with that.
Then those people will probably come to the forum to complain how horrible MMR is and how it makes them sweat every game...

not right now I'd say. I know i'm not 'good', though I've been able to hold my ground well against highranks, but I'm often.... too nice? and right now i'm getting paired with people with less than 10 hours into the game (not that I mind, make the killer challenges a lot easier)
I am not sure if that's even wrong tbh
Playing against experienced but nice killer is much better for newer survivors than playing against newer killer who tries to camp everyone he catches
It makes sense that the game allowes you to play casually if you want
-
@MeltingPenguins said:
Only thing it's genuinely missing is finetuning in the form of allowing people to say if they gave up/felt sorry and farmed/had something come up irl but didn't want to dc, to take such matches into account
Yeah, that's true. These matches will kinda mess with your MMR. I hope BHVR is filtering these matches at least to a degree.
-
@ScottJund said:
Because it is nearly impossible for an automated system to detect player skill in this game.
That's not true. While you won't have a precise number that completely determines your skill, you'll have an approximate number that will give you relatively fair games, and that's all what MMR should do. That's the same thing ranks are trying to do, MMR should just do that better.
-
@Psycho_ said:
I agree, I think MMR makes since for like dota 2, league, and many other games that have clear skill gaps. soo many variables, If we dont know how it works, how do they expect to make it work. BTW they have been testing mmr for 2 years now. so....
They are testing it because it's really hard. Other games are using simple ELO systems usually, and this game requires something more complicated

Because people will be entirely focused on staying in certain ranks or will be trying their hardest to get out of certain ranks. It promotes such an unhealthy extremely competitive mindset for a game with so many balancing issues as it is. People will play so beyond sweaty once a competitive mechanic is added to the game, you can see it from most people streaming and in your own personal games. Look how much more competitive players have been playing since mmr was turned on.
It's evident people have been having a more miserable experience since it was switched on, just proves why it shouldn't be in the game.
That actually makes sense. But this is not that much of MMR issue again, more like a bad interaction with revamped ranking system.
That might be solved if ranking system will be adjusted though. For example, if they'll remove depipping completely, or at least make it harder in high ranks.
MMR has nothing to do with competing though. People are playing more because they want to try something new.
-
@BabuDweet said:
I don't believe it's a healthy way for this game to go with the many existing problems with the core mechanics. MMR promotes extremely sweaty play by both survivors and killers and it will drain any fun out of this game, it will hurt it really bad.
I just don't see the game ever getting to a healthier state if MMR is going to be a permanent add, it will be the downfall along with the ignorance around balancing issues too imo.
But how it promotes that?
-
@Deadeye said:
My argument is that I'm totally not confident that MMR works with DBD and therefore does nothing to match equally "skilled" players. Same as emblems don't reflect skill right now. MMR requires a win condition to determine if you played well or bad and then adjusts it according to the differecne between you and the opponent(s).
And DBD doesn't have a clear win condition. If you just pick escape vs. 3k or better, then urbaning key users going down in 5 second chases still rank up due to the key, 10 hook games with 2 kills (because you didn't tunnel) derank you. And as they don't want to reveal how the MMR is working in detail, you just have to guess if it works and see if your game experience is better or worse. Including games where you play together SWF with mixed ranks and guess if the killer is chosen adequately
Well, that's not exclusive to BHVR. As I remember, in Starcraft 2 it wasn't revealed to players until some point, and casual modes in Hearthstone don't give any clue about player's MMR at all.
That might change with time though.
Personally I think that we need some indirect indication of MMR, like leagues in Starcraft 2.

I agree those people need an extra sweaty bracket.
The "I have a 97% kill rate bc I run ruin/undying, thanat, sloppy pin legion." (plz don't run this its boring)
At the same time I run only corrupt most of the time. I'm getting the full meta andys because I played well?
I don't want easy games, but I don't want to play like a sweatlord with a bunch of regression perks either. its a catch 22. 😪
If you'll run regression perk stack and your results will improve you'll get even tougher opponents.
The entire point of MMR is that you can play with weak perks, weak killers and be chill in general, and you will have the same killrate as some god nurse in high levels. You'll just play against different people.
-
@vacaman said:
Sometimes you just want to pwn some noobs. I don't see any other argument against it. Oh and i've noticed longer queues, i hope they don't get unbearable.
Noobs have arguments against that for sure.
-
@Psycho_ said:
Regardless it isn't working, I got multiple killers tonight with under 100 hrs. I assume this is because they are slaughtering rank 20's with noed etc. so mmr is bumping them up too quickly. IMO this instance is just as poor as previous ones.
Even if the system is not perfect, there are people on this forum who admit that they have 97% killrate or something, nothing can be worse than that, and I really doubt that new system is as bad as that.
Also, MMR takes time to settle, these people might be going through their initial placement.
-
@Snowbawlzzz said:
High-MMR killer being a sweatfest is about the only one
But it is not a problem about MMR. It is a problem about the game itself, and we always knew that playing against survivors who will run straight to god loops when they see you and will abuse it until you lose your mind is unpleasant. That's why only few killers are viable in high level gameplay. And the solution is not to throw killers on noobs, but to work on map design and perks.

Yeah, I love plundering for a brown toolbox that saves less time than spent on opening the chest!
As if it would be better to buy that toolbox from the bloodweb
Also, it still gives you value if you bring it to the next match

It’s not really optional as you won’t have any items on your survivor if you’re using BP to level up other characters.
You can find items in chests
Also you can play survivors you are levelling up
-
@WexlerWendigo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2422442#Comment_2422442
Killers get almost 2x as much BP as survivors, I doubt they’re missing much. Survivors get literal scraps every game if they don’t run the killer for 5 minutes, unhook 3 teammates and do 4 gens.
Killers also need bloodpoints more, since if you levelled all your survivors to level 40 and unlocked all the perks on one survivor - you unlocked full survivor gameplay and everything else is optional, but for killers it is level 40 for everyone and all perks on every killer you want to play
So - bloodpoints are bloodpoints

I’m sure you know damn well giving hatch and giving a killer are completely different. A 3 or 4k are essentially the same, the killer isn’t giving up much at all to let the last survivor go if they played well.
If a survivor lets the killer kill them, they lose 5k survival points and automatically get silver survival which makes it hard to pip at red ranks.
As if killer loses nothing when he gives the hatch.
That's 2500 points for "No one escaped", 500 points for hooking and 1000 for killing, not counting late sacrifices. With BBQ that's even more points lost.

its not just a dick measuring contest, it's also a matter of being able to determine if their system even works properly isn't just as bad as the current system. Another thing is a feeling of skill progression and actually having a numerical value to show you getting better at the game. Also a well made system shouldn't be so easily abusable and if it is then players should know so that they can actually give proper feedback since let's be honest the BHVR testing team doesn't have the best track record.
Dick measurement is the most important thing about this idea for me tbh. I want to know if I am trash at the game, or mediocre, or actually good, and also that I am better than that guy in my lobby. Or worse.
Regarding this system working or not - nothing will be worse than ranking system, so whatever. I am playing a game where matchmaking is purely random and it is still fun. So that's what is the most important - if you have fun or not.
-
@gilgamer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2422316#Comment_2422316
Because then we'd be able to correlate when our score rises or dipped based on how our games went as well as compare our scores with the rest of the community to get a general understanding of where we are skill wise as well seeing whether or not matchmaking is actually working as intended and we are being matched with people are skill level. There are a myriad of reasons why I'd want to know how my skill is being rated since that along with map RNG will likely be the 2 largest factors determining if I have fun in that match as well as whether I'm likely to win or not.
They won't show MMR directly so people can't abuse their system, but they could consider some indirect indication for the purpose of penis length measurement. In Starcraft 2 there is a league system: Bronze league, Silver league, Golden league, Diamond league, etc., which depends on your MMR. BHVR could implement something like that: you see your league, but don't see your exact rating.
-
Nah
Last time I thought "Right, these people had a hard game, I'll let them unslug themselves and let someone get hatch" I was called trash and that I should learn to play
Never again, survivors don't appreciate your kindness
-
I'd want to see Kira Yoshikage from JJBA. I feel like DbD kinda misses an evil guy in a suit.

what, that you lack the skill to not care about a measly key?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2416155#Comment_2416155
'overpowered'
let's see:
- requires a certain number of gens to be done
- requires the players to find the hatch
so, even if they bring a hatch offering... they still have to get all these done first... which can can usually do pretty easily while you're busy chasing the keyholder.
heck, judging by the justifciation I'd say some people bring a key as distraction, and you people are falling for it. wow
"Measly", ok bruh
Keys are OP not because they give you an easy escape but because it makes killer play differently even when there is only one key. And it's not like something stops survivors from bringing 4 keys to have aura reading all the time.
-
It is not about winning, it is about sending a message.
-
High skilled players don't want MMR because they like to stomp noobs.
-
I'm pro-MMR because of its individual killer rank aspect. Current system would be fine for me if it had individual rank for each killer too.
I just want to learn killers like Nurse, Billy and deathslinger against opponents of corresponding skill level, not usual red rank swf's.
-
Probably vault hit validation. I want to play against people, not against my ping.
-
Eh, there are two or three where you actually can do something

Capt. Capslock, you good? The fun of the majority (those who dislike Slinger) matters more then the fun of the minority (those who enjoy him). So yes, in that case, my fun matters more then the killers / those survivors who like him... simply because i am within the majority on that case. If i would be one of only a few with this opinion, i had to deal with it, but its not the case.
The most entitled survivor claim I've read on this forum so far.

But then it is a separate issue. You should ask BHVR to add more servers around the globe.
Nah, dude. That's exactly the same issue - you either punish players for bad connection or save money on providing good server coverage. Otherwise it is a dick move.
We are asking since dedicated servers came to exist, but that probably won't happen since BHVR uses Amazon servers and even if BHVR wanted that, they can't force Amazon to get new servers. And I really doubt they will move to another network unless something forces them.

If you have bad latency/ping then I am sorry, but your experience is not going to be that good here and probably in other multiplayer online games. There is no way around it.
So far others were suffering because of your bad latency/ping. Now it is you who suffers because of it. I think it is more fair.
It is good in any multiplayer online game where developers actually care about all players, not just the ones in their favorite countries. There is a ######### way around it. Devs ######### on players in countries distant from them and everyone is celebrating now. This is just disgusting.
I am kinda waiting to see how killers from these countries will react now, when chasing survivors will be not as beneficial as before. Guess which tactics will be prevalent.

Living closer to certain servers, some living further away but having a faster connection through other means. You are not being connected to the same server everytime you play. You're being connected to the closest server available for all players.
Yeah, and the closest server to me is half of the world away. There is no way for me to get a good connection, it is either bad or alright-ish. Do you think this is a fair reason for BHVR to treat me as a second class player? As if my money are worse than european or american.

I mean, what do you want them to do? ######### people over because they have a better connection? You cannot make things look fair from both perspectives without ######### someone over.
Why do these people have better connection?
-
@fogdonkey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2391464#Comment_2391464
It is not about hate. It is just making the game more fair. Due to latency the killer and survivor see the game slightly differently. Pallet stuns are now decided based on what the server sees. And yes, it means that the player with lower ping will have a slight advantage, because sees the state more closely to what the server sees. (Previously pallet stuns were probably based on what the killer sees? Which is very unfair if the killer has a high ping.)
It is less fair to me, because if you can't afford good server coverage you shouldn't punish people for not being covered. As a survivor I am getting hit from meters away just as before, that's why I usually play killer. But now if I play killer I get screwed by BHVR too. What exactly is fair here?
-
As bad as before, because BHVR hates people who don't live near their servers.
-
Yeah, thank you BHVR for punishing me because you don't have servers any close to my country. Fml.
Time to learn Deathslinger, I guess.
-
No, they don't. Ever. These addons suck and Doc has a lot of good addons.

I don't know if the DCs are people being selfish over a killer or map they don't like. Or the game runs bad they get hit because they froze or lagged and don't want to put up with it.
For some reason lags always happen when someone gets bodyblocked in a corner by Plague.
-
@Phasmamain said:
Yeah solo is unbearable right now especially with no DC penalty. But don’t worry the devs might make another perk to help solos out!
Perk: Despair's Attorney
If someone DC's from the match, you get that person's bloodpoints. DC penalties in this match are doubled (stacks). If DC penalty is disabled, enables it.
-
It would be a good QOL change to don't keep the count in your head.
But devs don't want playing killer to be comfortable.
-
I'd like to leave a tip that lets you get flamed less often: never ever write "gg" first if you win. Or anything. It triggers salty people.

Granted; I don't know how servers are set up for European and other areas of the world.
Nah, that's not the thing. Everyone speaks English now.
I'm getting flamed for being Russian quite often and I'm only playing with Europeans because of my location.

Well, from west Russia I am clearly getting connected only to Europe, unless q times are too long and I am getting thrown to people with 200 ms ping and blank square nicknames. No idea where people from eastern Russia go.
Pretty sure that most Russian players are from western part too though. Just because 70% of Russians live here, not counting Ukrainians and Belorussians who will be counted as Russians and skew the numbers even more.
