So basically, if you have enough perks unlocked on a killer when the prestige changes come in, you automatically get prestige, which means all that killer's perks are permanently unlocked on all other killers.
Oh right now I get you
Yeah so they said it has something to do with the amount of teachables/perks you have on that character bc it's meant to be a catchup system right
We're getting a livestream soon going over the changes so maybe you'll find your answer then!
-
What do you mean by unlock a killer
-
Ultimately it boils down to the fact that Nurse is the ultimate 'counter' to basically everything survivors have, I think people vehemently defend Nurse as a character because they feel like she's the one killer who puts the 'power role' (for lack of a better term) into the hands of the killer.
Obviously it takes practice to get to that point but Nurse is just the ultimate counter to 90% of what makes survivors difficult to beat for the rest of the cast.
She ignores all of the survivors resources
She can traverse the map quickly
I think people like having Nurse around as this 'nuclear option' type killer, the one who people can always learn if they're fed up or smth.
Obviously that's not all there is to it, many people just find her fun and enjoyable to play but I get the impression a lot of people don't want Nurse changed because she's one of the few truly 'broken' things for Killer which ironically balances out some of the broken stuff Survivors have.

That would be slightly slower no? Assuming STBFL is working off the new 2.7 second base instead of the old 3 second base.
30% reduction of 2.7 seconds = 1.89 seconds
40% reduction of 3 seconds = 1.8 seconds
If it does work that way and they were to reduce the number of stacks to 6, they'd have to raise the % gained per stack to 5.5% to get it closer to what it should be. And even then it's still ever so slightly slower than before.
oh yeah true I forgot about that
math is hard

wouldn't that just further divide the best killers from weakest killers. Its not like Pig is suddenly going to be S-tier because she can use stbfl. Nurse and Blight never needed stbfl, they've always had that largely in their base-kit with their ability.
Its same with brutal strength. weaker killers are forced to break safe pallets insuring that the survivor will get to next loop where as stronger killers either don't have to break pallets and can use their anti-loop either at the pallet itself or between loops.
I don't think STBFL needs a buff tho personally
They made part of it a basekit thing so it's only fair if the perk is adjusted slightly IMO.
current stbfl with new reduced weapon wipe cooldown would shorten it by 50% and I think that might be a bit too much.
-
People would be more inclined to play PTBs if it felt like it made a difference
A lot of the time not much changes from PTB to Live despite heavy feedback

Yeah I was only using stbfl because I thought I looked cool😂 I might swap it for I’m all ears. The nea was giving me trouble at the main building and idk how to loop that honestly. And I didn’t think about putting the trail by the locker and forcing her out thats a good idea
I'm all ears is a perfect PH perk, very underrated
Cooldowns annoying sometimes but still worth using!

Best way to get tips? Show gameplay of you losing. You won this match, so there's less to learn. You learn more from losing.
You can still make a ton of mistakes and win sometimes tbf
I've had games like that
-
Hey
I want to start by saying two things:
You played very well overall, you maintained a constant pressure throughout the majority of the match and punished the survivors for grouping up/being too altruistic. Overall this team really lived and died by altruism and it really shows. Not to mention you had a good 3 gen locked down and kept the survivors there for 80% of the game.
That being said, here are some tips/things I noticed:
- Ditch STBFL on PH, judging from your playstyle - you're better off with an information perk that'll help you keep track of everyone throughout the match. I'd recommend Floods of rage if you have it, alternatively Plaything would also fit right in. STBFL also falls off the better you get with PH bc hitting people with judgement is better
- You respected Nea's DS even though you were at 4 gens + could've forced torment onto her. Put a trail infront of the locker then eat the DS. (That's what I would've done anyway) - You decided to chase Cheryl who hadn't been hooked once which could've backfired. Thankfully it didn't!
- You caged Cheryl instead of hooking her on your side of the map, you sent her to safety and she got a full reset off shortly after. Not a bad play but again could have backfired if the game state were more in the survivors favour.
- You swung at Kate when you saw her use DH earlier, leading you to eating a stun. No biggie but worth keeping in mind.

Doing gods work, don't give the tormentors anything extra it's like paying to be bored.
it's just people playing a video game, it's not that deep lol
-
Anyone else's central complaint about Nurse is the (feeling) of a lack of agency?
I'm in no way saying there's nothing you can do vs a Nurse (there is, kinda) but a lot of the time it certainly feels that way. Sometimes when I outplay a nurse I don't feel like I had anything to do with it and the mistake was all on them.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Come on, scratched mirror Myers is the most fun thing in this game. Only thing to break up the loop-pallet-run cycle besides Nurse.
This would kill him completely.
It's not like random maps are much better. I swear every tine I play Doctor I get rotten fields with no map offerings.
I enjoy the odd mirror myers game every now and then but once the novelty wears off I think he's really boring ngl
Knowing he's 105% and doesn't gain BL turns basically all loops into psudeo infinites, which results in constant dropped chases if you're decent
It's fun for the jumpscare factor but once you're over it, there's not much else to it.
-
reduce max STBFL stacks to 6 and it'll be the same as current version (I think this is how BHVR will handle it but we'll see)
Brutal Strength being better is fine tho bc it's a weak perk and not great on half the cast.
-
Yeah there's still some things in the game people can do either to tilt the game in their favour or make their opponents miserable. Sometimes out of spite or to have an 'easier' game.
Map offerings games are high up there with the likes of bleedout matches or facecamping bubba matches.
At least you can get a decent game out of a map offering sometimes, neither side should be allowed to pick the map though in my opinion.
-
Been a while since we've seen you
Hello!
-
I don't get why they nerfed it twice
Disabled by touching gates/disabled when 5 gens done = 100% fair
3 second stun though. Nurse, Blight, Spirit, Huntress and many others can likely down you before you get anywhere - making it a dead perk.
-
Calm Spirit sucks
Sole Survivor still sucks
Deadlock camping/Facecamping has been buffed and/or not addressed
-
You can still bait it out at least since there will be a visual que
Curious to see how it works

You guys don't understand that its one of the most used perk on asian servers. They can't live without it lol. Other than that, I hope this completely destroys it and people stop relying on it. Its boring.
I heard about this, its rlly amazing how diff regions have diff attitudes to perks/playstyles
Do you play in that region? Any idea why they have that kind of 'self care' culture? Is it to do with how efficient it is?
I'm genuinely curious

Another bigger issue you should bring up is that you can still body block while under the Endurance status effect, which means survivors all now can force out the now base kit endurance effect by blocking an exit with their body.
Many other people have brought up this issue so I don't feel the need to personally.
I made this thread primarily to talk about how ineffective the 'camping measures' are, so to speak
It's a valid point though, not disagreeing with that

All feedback being valid is dangerous. Wouldn't the top players have the best say?
For top players to even exist you need a good beginner experience to make people stick with the game to begin with
DBD used to be notorious of having a steep learning curve so taking feedback from newer players helps with that
Also casual players are just as important as top players, not everybody plays dbd super competitively.
-
It's so bad
no joke they recycled a previously changed perk, Left Behind used to do the increased generator speed thing but they changed it when EGC was added
the only saving grace is the increased exit gate opening speed but I mean...
It's still stupid
-
It's weaker on the stronger killers which I think is a great design decision
Now Nurse/Blights who are good don't get a full 2 minutes of only needing to protect 5 gens
-
I think BHVR missed the mark with this one as well
People often brought the perk as a backup incase they had teammates who refused to heal them/they had a killer who was pressuring everyone well
They could've just removed the medkit item part and left it as is but they saw fit to nerf it even though CIrcle of Healing exists (And is gonna be stronger due to the upcoming botany buff)
New healing meta will be COH + Botany
-
Every day's a school day
Thanks for sharing!
-
I feel like once you get past a certain hour/skill/experience threshhold flashlights become less and less irritating
Medkits are what you wanna worry about

my math was around the same i don’t know if it’s correct but ours were loosely the same an i really think it will problematic because of said numbers on some killers especially bubba
My math also does not account for travel time either
so the final times would def be much longer
-
What did your math come out as?
Here's what I posted in a diff thread:
(assuming killer catches someone at 5 gens and begins camping/remaining 3 split up to do 1 gen each)
currently 5 gens takes = 400 seconds total
with the update 5 gens takes 450 seconds
Throw in deadlock and you add an additional 120 (30 x 4, doesn't trigger on last gen pop) seconds since it always blocks the gen with the most progress and can trigger more than once

and then one day everyone will be LGBT+ and we will have truly won- i mean what
be careful or people might think you're being serious

You're mistaken. There's some anti-tunnel (with a big nerf to DS to undo everything else)
But there's no anti-camping in the update. They actually buffed camping via increased gen time, reduced hit cooldown and leaving hook grabs untouched.
The whole section was named 'Camping and Tunnelling'
Def was intended as a address to camping imo.
-
A bit of math for those curious
(assuming killer catches someone at 5 gens and begins camping/remaining 3 split up to do 1 gen each)
currently 5 gens takes = 400 seconds total
with the update 5 gens takes 450 seconds
Throw in deadlock and you add an additional 120 (30 x 4, doesn't trigger on last gen pop) seconds since it always blocks the gen with the most progress and can trigger more than once
This is ridiculous if I'm accurate

Even without deadlock it got buffed. Which is so terrible. There is no reason to make fair play viable but then not nerf camping and tunneling into the ground, so killers don't have the option to win with little to no skill.
Yeah but with Deadlock you might be able to camp a dude to death and still have like 2/3 gens left even if survs split up as much as possible
That's not okay at all

he was less healthy in his old state in term of facecamping. I'd say he's an improvement.
Also dead hard is still kinda strong. while it doesn't allow you to dead hard for distance. it can still be used protectively.
Here's what I mean. Suppose you know your about to get hit at window vault. you can press dead hard and vault the window and the killer hitting you during the window will not down you. He will eat endurance effect.
This also works for pallet drops, for example, you not in distance to make it to a pallet and drop it in time, you can press dead hard, gain 1 second of endurence and drop pallet. if the killer swings into the pallet, His hit will be ignored.
So while dead hard for distance no longer works(well it works for 1 second of distance), it is still pretty powerful of a perk.
I don't care that DH got nerfed, I'm jumping for joy
I just don't like how the devs give survivors anti-camping tools and there's a killer who straight up ignores them bc you can't unhook against him when he's camping
-
Deadlock camping just got a huge buff
I'm not too pleased about it personally

They just need to turn bubba in to a easier billy already. One down = chainsaw stops. That's all bubba needs changed. He'll remain the literal same in chase while nerfing the camp potential.
Precisely how I feel about it too!
You can nerf his camping and keep his chase the exact same
-
@Devil_hit11 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3015117#Comment_3015117
not really. Off the record provides 80 second endurence effect. I don't think you realize how long.... 80 seconds of endurance is and dead hard provides 1 second endurance. it means you can tank 2 hits. bubba finally doesn't ignore dead hard.
gen speed needed to be reduced. technically survivor can bring it back to "old" speeds by equipping overzealous perk which might be really strong counter to bubba camping.
1) To get endurance, you need to be unhooked which against Bubba won't happen. Even if it does, it's a completely lose lose scenario
2) Not every survivor will be running DH anymore
There's no 2 ways about it, Cannibal's not healthy for the game in his current state
-
@BrokenSouI said:

Yea of course. If there's something to be abused. People will find it and do it. I'm also wary of some of the changes. But that is my initial guess. They WANT camping to still be dangerous, but don't want people to do it often. The chase changes, gen speeds, and lack of change to camping screams it. So again..I'm guessing if camping is still heavily going on. They'll do more about it.
I'm hopeful for the changes. There's definetly times i don't want to camp/tunnel. But with strong ASF maps. It just happens after 3 gens pop after a whole 3 hooks on some weaker/some more balanced killers. So hoping the changes help. And hoping it entices less and less people to do so
Yeah I agree for the most part
I'm hoping there's some killer changes in the patch notes that weren't mentioned in the update itself that'll address some issues like with Cannibal.
I'll be satisfied if that's the case
-
Increase stage 1 timer at the very least. An extra 10 seconds wouldn't be crazy
stage 1 to stage 2 is way more important than stage 2 to death ironically because stage 1 is what buys you the most time and let's you eat another hook later
-
@BrokenSouI said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3015109#Comment_3015109
To be fair. They never said they wanted camping/tunneling completely gone. They just wanted to make it less appealing, but still deadly. My guess is they're HOPING with the chase changes. A lot less people will feel compelled to camp at 3-5 gens. My guess is they'll do more to prevent camping if it still remains dominant. But we're in the early stages. So we'll see how everything goes
I'm optimistic but also wary
We both know just because the game might be healthier overall, people can and will still take liberties to abuse the unhealthy aspects of it
-
@MilManson said:
Bubba doesn't ignore endurance, the chainsaw triggers it and then he needs to hit them again so you still have time to dead hard out of jail free because that will give another endurance and a speed boost and you'll have the distance.
He will ignore endurance even more now because survivor post-hit speed is shorter
The 2 seconds wasn't enough to evade a chainsaw sprint, but 1.8 seconds is nowhere close to enough.
He needs to be changed.
-
@BrokenSouI said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3015060#Comment_3015060
I don't mind the grab game. But yea that's my thoughts. It needs to stay. Hooks exist for a reason and need to be dangerous if the killer is near. Otherwise they might as well or gave everyone basekit phead cages and made the survivor go away immediately
Okay but you can't 'address camping' but leave in one of the killer's biggest camping tools
You shouldn't unhook in the killer's face
But if the alternative is letting someone hit stage 2 because the killer refuses to leave, you have no other option besides doing gens (Which as you are aware, takes even longer now)
-
Unless they shadow nerf him to make his chainsaw sprint end when he hits a survivor with endurance
Yes, Bubba literally ignores all of BHVRs anti-camping measures.
-
@BrokenSouI said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3015007#Comment_3015007
Boring and healthy are 2 different things. As I was saying in the other thread. There's certainly things like EGC complications. Where if you remove grabs. It just becomes a free easy unhook as one person forces the hook and scampers away. While the other unhooks and everyone runs free
This update already has loads of EGC complications
I'm not against hook grabs as a concept, but the grab game is just a nonsensical back and forth that only ends when one sides either makes a mistake or gets bored. There's no skill apart from knowing "ok i'm close enough for a grab" or "ok he's close enough for a grab"
The grab game is even more tilted in the killer's favour now with this update, they have an even shorter weapon wipe cooldown
-
@BrokenSouI said:
No. Grab game has to stay. It should never be a free easy unhook. I had this conversation with someone else in another thread. Bait out the hit by being unpredictable. Or mess up and get grabbed.
Killers who excel at camping need slight changes though
It makes no sense from a gameplay perspective though
This is like DH all over again, as a Killer you have to sit and wait and as a survivor you have to keep spamming an interaction until one side 'messes up' (In reality boredom takes over most of the time)
You can't address camping and not talk about hook grabs
Also yeah Bubba needs a change, his power ignores every single 'anti-camping' measure BHVR has put forward.
