You don't have to in public matches, this is just making excuses for playing badly/being outplayed and sometimes just getting plain rotten RNG that puts the match in survivors favour.
Unless you catch a survivor out-positioned, get lucky or play Nurse or Blight well, you will lose 2 gens pretty quickly and I don't panic if I have only 3 gens left before I get my first hook. Once you get the first hook you now have pressure and momentum and how you use that determines whether you win or lose. Also know when to drop chase, if your first chase does not result in a down after 30 seconds, change targets immediately.
Camping is just plain stupid and tunnelling off hook is just plain scummy and I guarantee we will see more heavy punishments baked into the core game in the new year as its really hurting the game at this point.
If you feel you need to camp and tunnel off hook (in public matches) you have a losers mentality, it is the same as running NOED - you only run NOED if you are expecting you will lose all gens otherwise why would you run it? That is not a personal insult to anyone either but expecting failure and playing your match as if you expect to fail is a losing attitude
Never would I imagine that playing to win in a PVP game is considered "scummy".
-
Funny enough hiding in the first part of the game is sometimes better than going for a chase. But in a 1v1 scenario the killer should win most of the time especially if gates are in their favor.

I forgot old MoM, and will also add release BT.
Yeah dude fun guaranteed 3 health state chase the 2nd time you find them unless you sat around hook and I forgot.... did it count you taking a hit after it procs so then the next time you find them they have it after going from healthy to downed?
-
Old mettle of man, old dead hard, exhaustion perks when they were on cooldown and not an exhaustion cooldown.
-
Because if they do they would have to optimize it and you know how that goes already...
-
@not_Queef said:
Well yeah if you can only win a 3v1 then I guess you have no choice.
Bit embarrassing tho.
Winning a 4v1 is... nearly impossible. Even with the perk reworks trying to 4v1 on 80% of maps just isn't possible. And I want to be able to play someone other than a top 3 killer or full slowdown with good addons.
-
@wakwak said:
If you think you need to, have to, literally no other option besides tunneling to win a match, imo, you kinda suck at the game in general and are using tunneling like a crutch. Tunneling is understandable at times, but if you're trying to force someone out of the game asap at 5 gens all the time because you are so confident you can't manage a normal 4v1 for a minute without everything falling apart around you, then your confidence is well placed in your inadequacy. But hey, that's just me.
Well a 4v1 at 5 gens is manageable. But a 4v1 when after the first chase 3 gens or about 3 gens are done... not really manageable without full slowdown or a top 3 killer.

@scoser said:
I mean, by all means, tunnel away. The more killers that camp and tunnel, the more survivors quit the game and eventually it'll get shut down due to lack of players and we'll all be free of this torment.
Well it was either one or the other. Leave the game in the current state pre perk reworks and have the game bleed of what killer players there were at the time or switch it around and slightly drip survivor players out.
-
Ngl... I don't find survivor very skilled. I never once actually binged playing survivor but I can just read people well and make chases easily 2-3 gens with maybe 2 pallets thrown all because setups can be THAT good.
-
Same kind of vibes when some people try to get the evil incarnate achievement. They mori 3/4 people and hear a person across the map spamming notifs and when they get there they just sit in a locker and don't even try to run anywhere.

Flashlights have limited duration as well so that's not really a viable argument considering the exact wording:
"Killers are now immune to blindness while grabbing a Survivor out of a locker"
Well if protecting a 3 gen is considered holding the game hostage then so is 2 people sitting in lockers because both are not really progressing the game.
-
Doxxing and VPN can also be done by console players...
-
I think the worst meta paired with the worse place the game has been in was definitely exhaustion stacking while pallets were on every corner of the maps and jungle gyms having both windows and pallets spawn.
-
They're already looking at the sounds of survivors to be around the same so you dont have the difference of Ace vs Bill. And the 75% is still very good and makes sense why it disables with exhaustion and makes it fair because losing all breathing sound when footsteps barely work in this game is very powerful.

Yup, the game is absolutely dying. No question about it... oh wait ...
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4TO6QUHWP76F/screenshot-20221119-231524-chrome.jpg
... the "game is dying" phrase is real old now.
Tbh I really doubt those numbers. 900k at one time when the steam charts havent hit 40k for a while now.
-
Gotta say... with a game with really no concrete MMR system. Using kill and escape stats or even use stats to balance the game is really not the play.

What's wrong with CoH becoming a situational perk? At the moment, it's vastly OP and completely ruins the hit & run killer playstyle so it actively encourages tunnelling, which survivors constantly complain about.
Well I believe all perks should have their uses despite my distain towards CoH. But since they use the same healing speeds as the self care perk they cant just buff or nerf one because it makes the other just a downgrade.
-
Honestly I just want his addons to be decent and if they're so intent on keeping overheat then make the saw only deal a single health state while overheated. That way it doesn't punish billys going for more than 2 curves as much as it does with someone face camping as him.
-
They can play however they want but that doesn't prevent me from having an opinion of them nor does it mean they have to play in a way I like.

Yeah, I know this one sentence. This one sentence was the only thing people brought up why he should not be nerfed.
"But they said they were happy with his performance!!!!1111"
I mean they really shouldnt have touched him other than insta saw or crack billy.

Where did they say that?
I only know the players calling him like that. Since 2017... Quite clear that he is not the "most balanced Killer" anymore a few years after that, if Killer became so much easier over time.
@Topic:
Yeah, this is true. Billy is really fun to play and play against, if they are decent. Would still be nice to not have to use Shadowborn on him to have an enjoyable experience tho..
Idk bout balanced anymore but they did say they were "happy with the state that the hillbilly was in" or roughly that before gutting his addons and making most maps a nightmare to play on.
Also I found the statement
-
Forced penance on any non mobility killer though I do use it on twins when I did play them.
-
They kinda dug themselves in a hole for this one. They buff self-care then suddenly CoH is back in meta permanently but if you nerf CoH lower than 50% then it just becomes a very situational perk.

It's common to see a killer (with 2 survivors left) immediately reslug a survivor who is helped up or will just camp the slug. I dont see survivors running back into the map when the killer shows up at the exit.
You clearly didn't read what I typed or need more clarification. Survivors that sit in the exit gate and just sit there waiting for you to force them out compared to a killer slugging to get a 4k which one is trying to win while the other is basically bragging about the win.
-
Unbalanced maps, perks, killers, items....
-
Scripting as nemi and demo... sounds far fetched. Pretty sure you can even buffer nemesis' whip and demos been out long enough for people to know exactly when you can shred which is basically right as the knuckle crack ends.
-
Yeah that was their motto until the higher ups saw that sweet deal from amazon.

ok got it so you want it to help you for solo q nothing related to making it fun for both sides or adding benefit to both sides.
? Is soloq quality of life not an important thing? Why does cod have voice coms in its casual games? Cause its there to help people who actually want to use it. Just because its not making it fun/benefitting for both sides doesn't even make it REMOTELY a bad thing.

you literally pressure 3 people when you hook someone.
1 in chase
1 on hook
1 trying to unhook
Yeah no not how it works for long. You hook someone, the team waits for who is getting chased, THEN you get to "pressure 3 people". Either way 4v1 with an objective that on 90% of the maps is so spread that you cant compete without multiple regression/slowdown then medkits and toolboxes makes it even worse.

Dude look at how toxic the community is already on chat , what do you expect will happen once in voice? Is there any game where the voice has not added more ways of being toxic? At least the ones I played have never been good.
Once again its better than not having it. It allows for better balancing therefore we should 100% do it regardless of people wanting to be whiny and complain about toxicity which is what closing end game chat and muting is for.

muh 4v1 is a worse take. The game is balanced around being a 4v1, like i just don't understand the statement.
4v1 means you most of the time can only pressure one to two people at a time. With medkits that pressure you put on 2 people? Won't ever exist unless you camp the hook because they have a 16 second self heal allowing them to constantly split up. With toolboxes that time you pressure 2 people is made up by the extra progress they grant.

playing nurse/blight changes the game A LOT in the killers favor. Nether side should get free info.
Just a bad take. It's a 4v1 where medkits and toolboxes are effectively as temporary 5th perk.
-
Because 4 medkits and toolboxes with good addons literally change the game A LOT in the survivors favor...

Can you give an example of how you think this would be enjoyable for both sides? Also just because other games have it is not a good reason.
Any and every game with Proximity chat I played has always been toxic, people screaming, shouting racial slurs etc.
Still better than solo q games having next to no coordination because then we can start to balance this game better.
-
I already do that. I play for my fun and if that makes me a "bad person" when im supposed to be versing a team... idk what to say. I don't go into card game and handicap myself by throwing away my best cards.
-
Because its one of the only good licensed killers from an iconic series?

This game has never been more killer-sided in it's history, with most second-chance perks being useless as a killer can catch up relatively fast despite them.
Still goes Swf, killer, then soloq in terms of power scaling.

I don't quite understand what you mean by this "the killer didnt want to tunnel you out but if your team gave the killer an opportune time to like rushing an unhook you had your chance but your team took it from your but then that BT comes in to give you a 2nd"
Do you really believe that someone should be punished being the clicky nea farmed you 0.3 seconds after the killer as hooked you? basekit BT is half anti grief measure and half anti tunnel/camping measure. It lets you have at least a chance to a tile. Again unless you really consider getting unhooked and downed immediately with no chance of doing anything or getting anywhere "chance 1" i really struggle to see how bt/otr are 2nd chance effects.
Thats the whole point of being a team? If one person ######### up at least 1 other will also suffer because of it.
-
@Steakdabait said:

"so if a killer positions you on a hook in a dead zone and you make it to a tile because of OTR or basekit bt is that not a second chance?" Nope that'll be their first chance in that situation as they'll actually get a chance to play the game unless you consider holding W for 10 seconds why the killer tailgates you waiting out bt "playing" the game lol
Lets say in a semi perfect world the killer didnt want to tunnel you out but if your team gave the killer an opportune time to like rushing an unhook you had your chance but your team took it from your but then that BT comes in to give you a 2nd. Which in a lot of cases happens in my games where someones a bit too eager for that save so they give me an opportunity to snowball and punish for the teammates mistake. Which I'm trying to win so why wouldn't I? Its not like anything survivors or killers do can be considered fun for both sides nowadays. Maybe back in 2016 where no one knew what they were doing.

Old:
- Borrowed Time
- Into more powerful Dead Hard
- Into more powerful DS
Now:
- Basekit Borrowed Time
- Dead Hard doesnt work with Deep wound
- DS is useless
Dh is stronger vs M2 killers but can be weaker vs m1's.

what is the 1 second chance perk you deal with every chase? DH isn't a second chance perk btw nether is OTR or basekit BT.
"neither is OTR or basekit bt".... so if a killer positions you on a hook in a dead zone and you make it to a tile because of OTR or basekit bt is that not a second chance? The killer put you on a hook around an area that your team used the resources on and now your team rushes in for an unhook and doesn't take a hit. Like how by definition is that not a second chance or should I call it an "outplay" when absolutely no skill was put into the action.

survivors don't have that many actually 2nd chance perks anymore lol It's actually just like deliverance and unbreak now. DS was nerfed into uselessness.
You have to go through at least 1 second chance every chase now and ds is still a 2nd chance its just a matter of where you go down.
-
Happens both ways. You grab someone while they're unhooking and they still unhook. Really needs to be fixed up at this point.

The amount of second chance perks survivors have have been nerfed significantly also not even working I'm endgame.
We also observed killers still camping and tunneling immediately after the perk changes came out along with stacking slowdown Perks too.
Op is right on the money on this
I mean... maps also play a big role in how a killer plays. Someone gets eyrie of crows and Mothers dwelling where pressuring gens is next to impossible on most killers not to mention eyrie being ormond 2.0 where basically each tile has a 80% chance to have a pallet until you yourself plays on it as survivor.
-
Old billy without double charge addons, 5 bottles base as clown OR make the speed bottles a separate clip and not a shared pool of ammo, and actually decent collisions for blight and billy.
-
Or rather... killers being incentivized to camp from the amount of 2nd chances survivors now have ONTOP of exhaustion perks.
