  • Not sure if I like the idea of having an entire separate mode dedicated to it but yeah I would like if they made the randomized perks from that one event tome challenge a permanent feature that you can choose to toggle for yourself whenever you're bored. Would be a lot more convenient compared to having to open up a website on your computer/device and then manually change each perk inbetween matches.

  • Her iri add-ons definitely need to be either removed or reworked entirely.

You literally can't if she's running double iri add-ons, like the game I had against her on Red Forest the other night. Pure cancer.

Hooking once you have all 4 survivors downed is different than hooking at every down. The former happens every single match, if they’re slugging at all that is.

Bleeding the whole team out I will agree is toxic. However that is almost never happening, like ever. Waiting to hook till they’re on the ground is not toxic as he isn’t dragging the game out to be mean, he’s only doing it for strategy and to slow the gens down while building pressure.

Slugging every survivor and refusing to hook anyone until all 4 players are down may not be inherently "toxic" but it is objectively and unnecessarily sweaty and boring. And you are ignoring/denying an entire aspect of the game by doing so and denying not only Altruism points for the survivors but also extra hook points for yourself. So while it's not against the rules or anything, you also have no right to get upset when other players give you the smoke for it afterwards.

  • If they ever did a Walking Dead chapter I'm pretty sure they'd have Rick Grimes or Michonne as the survivor. (Personally I think it would be neat if they went with Lee Everett from season 1 of the TellTale game. They could have his lore be that when he was dying and dosing off, he opens his eyes to find out that instead of being a zombie, he's now in the Entity's Realm)

  • @DavidHypnos said:

It was the Shape and the Oni. If it’s true you can’t see the auras of undetectable killers then that would make sense on Mikey since it was before he tiered up. I think that’s pretty stupid though. Don’t other aura reading perks work on undetectable killers, ie Alert, Kindred, Dark Sense?

No, they do not. Haven't for 2-3 years now.

Edit: 69th post for me, nice!

  • The fact that killers can completely negate this perk simply by running Fearmonger (which is a very common perk these days) is pretty lame.

At the very least they should buff it so that it also works on healing skillchecks (Hyperfocus and Stake Out already do so why not Fogwise?)

  • I can't be the only one who has negative memories of this event right? Literally only one event gen/hook spawned pre-offerings, so if you were the only one who used an event offering and both of your hooks were on the far side of the map from where survivors would go down? Then oh well too bad!

Or if you played survivor you'd have killers purposely camping the only 1-2 margarita gens the entire game just so they could deny you the points and event progress.I

Hopefully they learned from last time and will make it so that ALL hooks and gens are event-related, and the offerings only affect whether or not you get extra bloodpoints for hooking/completing gens.

  • So it seems Spine Chill has gone the way of Iron Will and DS where it now only exists to take up space on the perk selection screen. Sad, as I had just recently started using it in my solo Q builds the last couple weeks.

Its funny that this change of tactics is bad/toxic when killer do, but when survivors start ignoring gens and other survivors to get the hatch theyre just doing the normal thing.

What in the world are you talking about? Selfish survivors who use perks like Left Behind and Sole Survivor get the smoke here all the time on these forums, mostly from other survivor players.

Nope. I'm tunnelling because I play to win. Telling me not to use the best strategy just because I'm winning is like telling players in other games to go easier on their opponents because the enemy team is getting stomped. In games like CSGO, LoL, and Dota, the enemy team will NEVER go easy on you if you are getting crushed. They will just keep pushing their advantage to maximize their odds of winning. It's not toxic in the slightest. It's just playing to win.

The main reason to tunnel a survivor out as early as possible is uncertainty and maximizing odds of winning. Say you have 2 hooks on a survivor and 1 gen is done, it's completely possible that you never see or catch that survivor again until 1 gen. Against coordinated swfs, this is a notable risk since they often split themselves up to hide survivors on death hook and and force the killer to chase survivors that haven't been hooked yet. A killer wouldn't know whether they were playing against a swf or not, so the only way to minimize that risk is to always do it from the start. Even against solos, it isn't a certainty that you will catch or find that survivor again, especially on large and strong maps. The play that maximizes odds of winning is tunelling them out at the earliest opportunity. Also, waiting longer to tunnel survivors out defeats the purpose of tunnelling. The point of killing a survivor early is reducing their gen and healing speeds. The longer you wait to tunnel, the less value you get from tunnelling.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3471751#Comment_3471751

They mentioned it that it was a potentially effective or viable strategy but they've never outright mentioned how effective it was. It was more so them acknowledging as a strategy but not commenting on its strength.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3471770#Comment_3471770

"The problem isn't for those strategies to exist, is that any killer can do them fairly well that they can be super strong against a lot of survivor teams. (not just baby survivors). Imagine if everyone who picked up Nurse or Blight could play them half-decent from the get go."

I don't see why tunnelling being easily accesible is a problem. I also disagree with your argument since tunnelling well is closely connected to a killer's chasing skills. For example, tunnelling is easy for anyone to do but if a unskilled killer tried to tunnel a survivor much better than them, they would get looped for multiple gens.

"If more killers played in this way every game, then those strategies would be addressed a lot sooner."

Tunnelling is one of the most prevalent strategies in the game.

"I don't think survivors want to remove the effectiveness of those strategies, as people who are not heavily biased know that against strong survivors you need something other than Nurse/Blight/Spirit, but them having no difficulty to do makes them accessible to every skill level and tunneling/camping are a lot more intuitive for players than looping is."

Fairly sure most survivors would want tunnelling completely killed off if possible. Like, do you see any other comment in this thread from a survivor supporting tunnelling?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3471865#Comment_3471865

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3472182#Comment_3472182

There's actually heavy hyprocrisy in your comments. You mention that tunnelling is a "legitimate strategy" but go on to say tunnelling results in the killer being boosted in MMR. Why would I be boosted if I was using a legitimate strategy? The reality is that you don't see it as a legitimate strategy. If you really saw it that way, you would treat it like any other skill or strategy and see it as a normal skill in the killer skill set. Think of it this way, looping is a legitimate strategy. Now replace everything you said about tunnelling with looping and it's clear that you don't view tunnelling as a legitimate strategy.

I've never hated or blamed survivors for running strong strategies and perks like gen rushing, pre-nerf Dead Hard, and pre-nerf DS. I've always blamed the dev for making them strong and not fixing it. It's the same argument I'm making here. Killers shouldn't be hated for tunnelling since they are just playing optimally. It's the dev's fault for making it strong in the first place. If you've ever played any other competitive game, like LoL and Dota, you would think the same way. You don't blame a person for picking a strong Champion/Hero. You blame the devs for making it strong and ask them to fix it.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3472045#Comment_3472045

You're missing the point here. As you've said, it is difficult to further disincentive tunnelling. What they need to do is incentivize not tunnelling, e.g. giving bonuses to a killer for chasing a different survivor, something like Grim Embrace. This brings the power level of not tunnelling closer to tunnelling and reduces the need for tunnelling.

DBD is an asymmetrical, horribly unbalanced mess. People like you who keep trying to treat it as a competitive e-sport game will never cease to be ######### hilarious to me.

Thanks for the laughs, I needed it today.

Or how bout we just get rid of killing yourself on hook

This is a terrible idea that doesn't give any valid solutions. As lame as people killing themselves on hook at 5 gens is, forcing them to stay isn't going to cause them to magically keep playing. Instead most of the time they'll just go afk for the rest of the match or until the killer offs them.

also what about scenarios where there's 2 survivors left and gens still up and I get hooked for the first time, and I want to kill myself because A) I just wanna move on from an unwinnable that's basically over, and B) I wanna give my last teammate a chance to get hatch?

Are you saying i should be forced to spend a whole 2 minutes sitting on the hook like a lifeless jabroni while Nancy is crouching behind a rock in the opposite corner and the killer is freely dillydallying around the map looking for her?

Also your comment has zero to do with what OP is talking about.

Left 4 Dead you can get simply by being patient and running perks. Evil Incarnate is an achievement where the other team, upon knowing exactly what you're running after the first survivors death gives it away, can literally make the achievement impossible for you.

You got extremely lucky, but Left 4 Dead's difficulty can be reduced by skill and ingenuity. Evil Incarnate's difficulty can be reduced only by finding an SWF streaming and asking them to help you out.

I know for a fact you're not to argue that Left For Dead is easier to get than Evil Incarnate. Or that it somehow requires less luck.

L4D requires you to let your entire team die while hoping that your last teammate happens to die at 1 gen left with the last gen being at least 70-90% done, finishing said gen before killer finds and closes hatch, and then the exit gates have to be far enough apart for you to even have a chance of getting out (and if it's a high mobility killer like Blight, Spirit, Wraith etc then it just ain't gonna happen unless your on Mother's Dwelling with Wake Up and both gates being on completely opposite ends)

Even if you get lucky enough with those first couple circumstances most of the time it simply will boil down to whether or not the killer is sweaty for their invisible trophy. The only way Left For Dead can become remotely tolerable trying to get is if you're in a 4-man SWF on voice comms and you and your friends get yourselves to 1 gen left and then 99% all three of the last remaining gens AND THEN your three friends throw themselves at the killer and purposely get themselves killed so you can go for the achievement. Then and only MAYBE then could I possibly see if taking only 2-3 attempts. And still yet again you'd have to keep doing that until you get lucky with exit gate spawns.

As for Evil Incarnate, honestly if you're REALLY having a tough time getting that achievement, then you wanna know the best/easiest solution i have? Start playing baseline Myers (don't waste any of your pink add-ons yet, save those) and just play a bunch of normal games, get as much hooks and points as you can, but no matter what do NOT kill any of the survivors. Keep letting all 4 survivors escape every game and eventually you'll get to a point after a handful of games where your MMR will get so low that you'll start coming across literal baby survivors that have no clue what is even going on half the time. Then when you're ready just slap on those Iri add-ons and BAM! EZ cheevo poppin'. I know that may seem rather evil to do, but heh, it's literally in the achievement name.

It's what I've been doing with a lot of my adept killer achievements lately. I'll put on the adept build for the killer I'm playing and start playing matches with them, and whenever a match gets to a point where I know I'm in an unwinnable situation, I just spend the rest of the match going for as many hooks and points as I possibly can while purposely letting all the survivors live so that my MMR will gradually go down and I get slightly easier opponents each match until I get a match where halfway through it looks like I'm on track to actually winning with a Merciless Victory then I start actually going for kills at the end and get my achievement. I know people will think I'm a scumbag for using this tactic but hey, not my fault the devs made adept achievements for killer extremely lousy to get especially compared to the survivor adepts.

  • @foxsansbox said:

This is still hands down the worst designed achievement in the game, and the Devs should still be embarrassed that they allow it to persist.

Items have always been considered a "bonus" part of the loadout. Hence why they can be earned mid match in chests, dropped, given to other survivors, etc. They even used to get used up and consumed if used 100% in the past (though you did get to keep addons that didnt consume the item if you escaped with it and it still had charges left.) They're not a core part of the loadout, which is why its fair for the killer to see them and adjust theirs accordingly, especially for niche perks for that purpose like franklins.

The inverse is that survivors get to chat in the lobby (if they choose to) and coordinate loadouts and/or comment on challenges or anything else without the killer being able to see the chat (admittedly, don't know if/how this functions on console personally.) If killers were able to see the rarity and addons of items that would be one thing, but since killers can't switch which killer they're using in lobby anymore I don't personally think its a disproportionate advantage either way. Especially since at least survivors still have the last second swap you mentioned which killers don't/have limited ability to react to.

There is no pregame chat if you're on console though....

  • I remember when wiggle DS was a thing (seriously i completely forgot that it was ever a thing until a few weeks ago when I was taking a trip down memory lane going through a bunch of my old DBD clips from 2018, and came across a clip where I was carrying a Claudette to a hook and literally at the exact same time that I started the hooking animation she hit her DS skillcheck and it even gave the little icon on the corner of my screen and everything but since i started hooking her at that exact same moment it ended up completely nullifying her perk so she DC'd immediately afterwards 😂😂😂)

It would be fairly impressive if the Bubba managed to both facecamp me and tunnel the person who got unhooked.

No, for some reason, he chose to camp me and then tunnel me off of hook twice. He ignored injured people, he ignored people out in the open, he ignored BT and OTR, I guess he just hated me for some reason.

I have noticed that Steves have a tendency to get tunneled a lot. Especially if they happen to be wearing Scoops Ahoy gear. Something about it just really pisses them off for some reason lmao (either that or the killers are just trying to ask if they can get free ice cream idk)

so let's say a certain killer is weak, what type of gameplay are expecting exactly?

normal gameplay? you know not tunning or camping or slugging, because that's a insta loss the weaker the killer is the more person has to "tryhard"

and don't talk about addons, what's a tombstone myers gonna do, watch over you as fix the gen?

and are u really expecting let's say a trapper to not tunnel or slug while the gens are flying?

and what's so fun about survivors anyways, these days don't do anything, just gen rushing, i get 5 devour stacks almost every, game high mmr is extremely stale and boring and tunneling the only way to win because 2 gens pop AT THE FIRST CHASE

so don't tell me they are unfun scummy or boring when in the meanwhile survivors are running the sweatiest build

If you don't see the issue with someone just wanting to play slug-a-thon all game long then I honestly don't know what to tell you. We can talk about certain killers needing buffs/QoL changes any day of the week, I'm all for that. But going out of your way to play like a this is not the way. If you're struggling that much to do well with any other playstyle then the only advice I can give is to either learn to 'git gud' or play a different killer. Sadako is just one of 29 after all.

According to your logic, survivors who put on Boil Over and Flip-Flop and use a Dead Dawg offering and purposely keep going down in the one room on the second floor of the saloon so that they're guaranteed to deny the killer from hooking them is completely fine because Boil Over is a D-tier perk that you would otherwise never get any real major value out of in most situations. You're no better than them.

  • @AcelynnBen said:

i main sadako and i barely have an options i never tried the slugging condemned build, but i think by this point nobody should complain about her because she is somehow more rare to see than trapper

probably because she is worst than him

This whole "X killer is weak so it's ok when people use them to play in the most boring/scummy/unfun way possible for both sides" argument needs to stop already.

Same with busted add-ons that happen to be on lower tier killers (Tombstone, Tuft of Hair as examples)

  • *Inner Strength

Also, while I wouldn't be opposed to that idea necessarily, finding lockers is the least difficult thing to find on just about any map. They're pretty much everywhere especially since Dredge was added to the game.

  • Damn, that's it!? They couldn't even at least round of up to half a mil?

  • Only because of all that extra space in the far back corners next to the house. Those corners are usually just giant deadzones with nothing in them except a bunch of large bushes and rocks, so players don't usually ever go to those spots. All of the major points of interest feel very centralized. You have the main house and the little garden house next to it, and then across the street you have killer shack and the little jungle gym that connects to the car loop. All within plain view of each other and those are the four spots that everyone is always at anyways since that's where the main objectives always are.

Just the other day l played on Garden of Joy as Ghostface (a non-mobility killer) and I found myself being able to traverse back and forth on the map just fine. Never once felt like a chore to get across the map as opposed to something like Gas Heaven.

    That's a false equivalency.

Defending a strong 3 gen is not remotely holding the game hostage in the same way locker hopping or hiding for 30 minutes is. Painting yourself into a corner does not compel the killer to escort one of your teammates on a tour of the map so you can get a possible out from your screw-up. The game can progress, it will just progress via your death. That's how it goes sometimes.

If you and your team allowed yourselves to be three genned so badly that you can't even progress one, that is your fault. There was the whole match up to this point to avoid the three gen. You lost, face the music.

The notion that the killer is somehow at fault for not allowing themselves to be baited from defending a trap of the surv's own making is total entitlement. That's like getting caught one move from an unavoidable checkmate in chess, then leaving the board and accusing your opponent of delay.

I've been in this position numerous times as a surv. Try to complete the gens in futility, get sacrificed (or maybe get hatch), move on to the next. The killer is not holding you hostage be refusing to give you a mulligan. Life will go on, I assure you.

"All 3-gen situations are the fault of the survivors"

Yes, because there have never been killers in the history of DBD, that have ever purposely picked out a nasty 3-gen either right from the start of the match or middle of the match and spent the rest of the game being territorial and sticking around that one area. /s

So when I'm trying to do the gen in front of the Myers house on Haddonfield to avoid getting 3-genned, and the Legion keeps pushing me off of it and kicking it with Overcharge while refusing to chase me or any of my teammates away from that house, and my teammates end up doing all the gens on the other side of the map (because I'm not sure if you know this or not, but most survivors prefer doing gens in areas where the killer isn't around, especially against a Legion where they'd risk giving a 5-hit down) is it still me and my team's fault that we're 3-genned even though the killer was the one being stubborn from the getgo and there was literally nothing we could do to avoid it?

Even if he's in the middle of chasing someone, the second you get unhooked he shamelessly runs straight back to the hook to tunnel even with 4 gens still up. Happens in like at least 60% of my matches against him.

And I'd also say Wesker. I've never played any of the RE games so I have no idea how powerful he is in those but in DBD he comes off as such a tryhard spaz and has one of the least intimidating voices I've ever heard.

  • my Laurie is p10 but I've been spending my bp into the new characters getting them to p3. Once I finish that I'll continue leveling her to be my p100survivkr.

Still haven't decided who I want to be my p100 killer yet. Leaning towards someone like Freddy or Piggy.

30 meters around 1 gen is not broken, 30 meters around 3-4 gens is 50-90% of the map covered(depending on realm and gen spawn) in perma wall hacks with the killer having to abandon all chases and invest in a 1.8 second animation to get rid of it(per gen) and the killer has no way of knowing if wiretap is in play or not. Do you think old OOO was perfectly balanced too? this is basically that but requiring 4 survivors to run 2 perk each or 50% investment instead of 1/16. 30 meters is almost the size of the standard killer TR(32)

Gotta love it when killers create these ridiculous, unlikely worst case scenarios in their head in order to justify not wanting survivors to be able to combo niche perks to make them even more useful than they would be by themselves. Because they like to pretend that every group of survivors they go against are a coordinated, 4-man premade that knows in advance what perks everyone on the team is running.

You seriously think that if Open Handed worked with Wiretap then you're just gonna see 4 random solo Q players in one game all using Wiretap + Open Handed? (If they did then that would mean 3 of the survivors would be wasting a perk slot since their can only be one Open Handed in a trial anyways)

And as someone else here mentioned, all's you literally have to do is kick the damn gen and that's 33% of repair's worth gone right down the drain.

Also, 30 meters is not THAT big. If there were to be four active Wiretaps that close to each other then that means the survivors are all doing gens that are too close to each other instead of spreading out, which would be them 3-genning themselves, throwing the game and making it easier for the killer. So I'm not sure why that scenario would be so bad for them.

I don't mind it. It gives me hope that we might get a sequel to the Hellraiser chapter featuring a survivor someday.

I mean, really, how do you not add Kirsty Cotton as a survivor to begin with?

We never got Nancy Thompson or Sidney Prescott as survivors and yet you're disappointed over the chick from Hellraiser? The Hellraiser movies were never really that good to begin with. The first 3 or 4 films are just ok and the rest aren't even worth watching.

That's just what happens when the killer character sucks. I don't often hear about Pinhead or Artist tunnelling or camping and it's because they don't need to.

That hardly makes any sense tho. Why buy a BRAND NEW killer that hasn't even been out for 36 hours yet, if you're just gonna play in the most boring, unskillfull way possible without at least trying? Why not just play Bubba at that point? Or really any other killer for that matter?

Also you say only low-tier killers camp and tunnel yet just last night I had a Nurse hard camp me to death on my first hook during the middle of the match.

  • Thought I was the only one who noticed.

Went up against him on Haddonfield yesterday and there were a couple of times where I saw him in the distance and actually thought it was a teammate.

Dude moves like a damn Roblox character

  • So what does 25% additive mean exactly? If you earn, say, 16k bloodpoints in a match, you only get an additional 4,000 points at the end?

if that is the case then wow that is an absolute joke.
