Obviously Comms help. Nobody can deny that.

But if you think that Comms are the reasons why SWF is better than SoloQ you once show that your knowledge of the game is not really good. You can put the same 4 good players in a game with and without Comms and the result would roughly be the same. And you can put the same 4 bad players in a game with and without Comms and the result would also be roughly the same.

I dont know how Killers can still cling to the myth that Comms make bad Survivors suddenly good.

i generally agree with like 90% of your posts on this forum, but I don't get your logic here. Because you are essentially implying that people who play Survivor by themselves are inherently dumber and worse at the game than those who choose to play with a group of friends. Being an introvert who struggles to make a lot of friends IRL doesn't make one less intelligent/competent than people who are more social. It just means that the latter group are way more likely to find others who also happen to play DBD regularly. Just because most of the people on my Xbox friends list don't play DBD doesn't make me automatically worse at the game than the average SWF player.

  • I've only played three matches so far. The first match I had a slugging Twins on Lerys. Not fun but at least the Twins player was generous enough to let me escape when I was the last survivor alive.

The same, however, cannot be said about the following two matches I had against a Knight and a Jason player respectively. Both of whom just straight up hard tunneled me out of the game. And with no medkits and aura reading making it impossible to heal and not being able to see more than 5 feet ahead, idk how anyone in good conscious can say that this event is "survivor sided", let alone why anyone would wanna waste their time playing solo q survivor in this mode.

  • I feel like the first RE chapter was treated like a much bigger deal and was when the game was at it's most 'alive' in terms of how many people were playing and talking about the game.

While Jason was hyped there's still this sense of underwhelm due to it lacking the fanservice people were long expecting/hoping for (no Crystal Lake map, no survivor, the generic Jason Universe design, no movie cosmetics) so it doesn't feel like as big of a deal as it probably should have been.

  • CountOfTheFog always coming in clutch with the codes 💪

  • As someone who has been playing this game on Xbox since 2018, you PC players are so delusional. I love how you think that paying an arm and a leg for a gaming computer somehow makes you more skillful and have a higher IQ than those who pay $500 for a console. I fail to see any possible correlation.

The two main reasons why it may seem that console players are generally bad to you is:

    A) most of DBD's playerbase is on console, so most bad players will naturally be on console and

    B) You also simply have confirmation bias.

  • i miss when this game was "silent". Now every survivor has to give a quirky Millienial chungus one-liner everytime you switch to them or load into a lobby as then. I don't know why everything has to be so in-your-face now.

  • this most recent iteration I played 86 survivor matches, 50 of which I escaped. Making my escape rate 58.14% (All time is 263 escapes out of 501 matches aka 52.50%)

  • As survivor- Mindbreaker, Lethal Pursuer, Phantom Fear, and Nowhere To Hide.

As killer- Boil Over. I don't have it happen to me too often, but survivors who put Boil Over on and purposely keep going down at the second level of a main building (I.e. Dead Dawg, Ironworks of Misery) so they can never get hooked deserve to step on a million LEGOs while barefoot.

  • "if a game isn't competitive, then why so many cheaters/hackers" is kind of a weak argument.

There's probably people out there who cheat at Tic-Tac-Toe. Doesn't make it a serious competitive game by default.

  • I thought it was just me who was noticing this trend. Glad to know im not just going crazy. Obviously there's always been a community divide between the two roles with Youtube content creators being split into two tribes that cater to each one, but I feel like in the last year since i've come back to the game it's gotten way worse.

Like the average Survivor main content you see is stuff like "Hey guys! Watch me loop the killer for 5 gens while using this quirky new perk build I created. Haha!" With bright filters and Nintendo music playing in the background.

But then you have the average Killer main content which all feels like just a variation of "TOXIC SWF BULLY SQUAD EPIC FAIL WITH SALTY ENDGAME CHAT" and 80% of the comments are people going off about how they hate survivor players and they want to genocide all survivor mains (I'm being slightly hyperbolic, but you get the point)

its just all so very tiresome.

  • i just wish they would keep the skill checks the same normal size throughout instead of making them progressively smaller the closer you get to dying.

Like why!? it doesn't make any sense as to why you're being punished when you're team are taking too long to unhook you. It makes zero sense for the skill checks to get harder.

  • "Buff Ghoul"

sure, and while we're at it, why don't we also buff Nurse, Blight, Wesker, Dracula, and Oni. They all really need it to keep up with the rest of the roster. Being D-tier killers and all.

  • @cogsturning said:

A killer shouldn't be relying on bugs. Fix the exploitable bugs then reassess the killer properly.

i have no idea why you got so many down votes. This is a very reasonable take. I guess DBD players love them their exploits.

  • wait, there are people who play Trickster? o.O

  • Guide because it has Blast Mine. Any time a killer gets stunned by my Blast Mine, even if I'm caged on the opposite side of the map, it always brings out the inner child in me. I can't help it.

The survivor licensing would already have included statements about allowing them to work together with characters from other franchises and original dbd characters, you can't include them in the game without that happening.

Killer licensing wouldn't have needed such a clause and without one you can't have them work together. Myers license holders, as an example, may not want him to appear alongside other killers and may especially not like them cooperating with another killer. Terms like that would likely already be in place for newer killers unless the license holder refused to allow the killer to be added with such terms.

and your proof for any of this is….???

  • Vagueposting really seems to be one of the top new trends of 2026 eh?

  • just be stealthy for the first 30 seconds and don't touch a gen right away.

  • @Tenac said:

So I understand why certain killers might not be added to 2 v 8. Could be a licensing issue or it can be difficult to have too many killers that add new gameplay elements ie freddy, xeno, etc. However there are so many killers that I truly can't think of a reason why they wouldn't be in. Like in what universe would hag, dredge or unknown be considered unfair in a mode like that. Why do you think the roster is so limited?

why would it have anything to do with licensing? If a killer is already playable in the main game then there's nothing about the licensing agreements that say anything like "oh but you can only use this character for regular 1v4 but not a model that doubles the amount of killers and survivors." Doesn't make any sense.

That logic is also already flawed by the fact we can use every single licensed survivor in 2v8, so why would it be any different for killers ulle?

  • Ive been playing a lot of Chucky lately, so I know how annoying the "hold W" strat can be to go against, BUT when more than half the killer roster has anti-loop abilities and around 80% of all map tiles are laughably bad and unsafe, what else do you expect survivors to do?

Have you seen maps like Grim Pantry lately?

  • This post has to be S-tier ragebait

  • ngl I genuinely feel like the people who unironically found Steagull funny and anything but annoying are the same people who got dropped on their heads as a baby and their favorite Metallica album would be St. Anger, no offense.

  • if I'm playing killer and I come across at least one Renato who isn't wearing default clothing AND has a flashlight, I'm probably gonna dodge. Renatos are annoying tryhards that I often have unpleasant experiences playing against.

  • my current build that I've been running in Solo q lately is Bond, Kindred, Still Sight, and Open Handed. Actually kinda fun and has helped out a lot.

  • Huntress doesn't have default. She has her lullaby which is more than unique enough.

  • are the survivors in both scenarios the exact same players or are you just generalizing by pretending as if survivor players all act as one collective monolith?

  • this is objectively false. Hag is nothing like Trapper and Freddy is nothing like Wraith. It was only beginning with Ghostface that every killer started being a remix/carbon copy of previous killer powers. Plague was the last killer whose powers and mechanics was truly original.

Blinding is a nuisance and Survivors never need to go for blinds. Lightborne prevents the cases where Survivors go for blinds on purpose to annoy Killers; the Killer does not know your intentions when you and a friend take in like three flashlights, but they might assume you came to be annoying and throw this perk on. Because oftentimes when there are many flashlights that is what happens if they don't bring it - Survivors harass them all round with flashlights and it is not fun. It's also not even fun for other Survivors not in your SWF in this case, because you and your friend are off chasing me for blinds while they try to do five gens by themselves; how are they gonna feel in this situation? I do not go into my rounds to be forced to slug flashlight users or be blinded to the point I can't pick anyone up and even get one measly hook for my efforts, something every Killer plyer has dealt with or will sooner or later.

Hard Tunnelling a single person is very similar - it's a nuisance, it's annoying, and Killers never actually usually need to hyperfocus one person all round until that person dies. DS and OTR both help with tunnelling in case it does happen so another Survivor can possibly take aggro when a Killer purposefully tunnels a Survivor just to annoy them; I don't know as Survivor if the Killer will tunnel me but I know it's possible, so I bring OTR very often. There are Killers that hard tunnel people out, and if I don't bring OTR then it's me they could target - then I get harassed for a 2 minute round and barely get to play, that isn't fun.

And flashlight blind mobs are very, very similar. I just don't want to be annoyed.

It really isn't that hard to see how these are similar - both handle tactics that are really, really unfun to face when done in sufficient quantity of the actions.

the key difference is that Lightborn guarantees full prevention from being blinded. DS and OtR don't guarantee you from preventing being tunneled out. The 5-second stun and extra endurance hit does literally nothing. That's the point I'm trying to make

  • @LockerLurk said:

People get mad about Lightborne because it removes blinds from play, which removes an optional thing Survivors can choose to do. Generally Survivors in my experience are only mad about it if they a) built around blinds, b) are doing a blind challenge, c) are there to try to get clips for a compilation for Youtube or something.

There is nothing truly equivalent on Killer side except maybe Pentimento at 5 stacks, which removes totems from the equation, for the record.

The problem is nobody makes you take blinding perks and blinds are not needed to win the game. There are actually several options like pallet saves, body blocks, and Breakout for example besides flashlights.

I am a casual player. I play both sides, though exclusively Killer right now because I just got really bored of Survivor. I am not looking to winstreak, I am not looking to pip, I am not looking for "a challenge" nor do I want "baby Survivors", I just want to have fun playing the game. But I am photosensitive, and the effect hurts my eyes when done repeatedly. Being blinded over and over isn't fun for me, at all, it hurts me. So therefore, I bring Lightborne sometimes, especially if I feel unconfident on a Killer - just like a Survivor may choose to bring WoO because it helps them learn loops or loop better. No different.

That, and I and many others who play Killer just find repeated blinds frustrating and unfun, the way a repeated slug is unfun and frustrating. Again, remember, like many other players, I'M CASUAL. I don't sweat, I don't run nasty builds, I still give hatch and door, I'm downright nice. But I do not like having Survivors swarm me with flashlights when I just want to do a hook challenge. I do not enjoy three people running Blast Mine when I just have a generator kick challenge. I hate being discouraged from even doing my goal because at that point, why am I playing? It's not fun if I can't achieve any amount of my goal, let alone a few hooks.

I main several M1 Killers especially (Dredge mostly, but I have dabbled in others), and I don't really like being say, Ghostface or Trapper and seeing people immediately try to take advantage of my M1 nature by coming running in for blinds while I play normally and destroy the team because they're too busy going for blinds. I actually just had this today in a Ghostface round, three people ALL so desperate for blinds and to do the Nostromo Main gen, they did nothing else - did not play well, did not spread out, and gave me a 3k for it. On one of Ghostface's WORST maps due to its size.

It's a good thing blinds were fixed recently and a good thing Lightborne exists, because being gang-flashed by three people over one measly save doesn't feel good. It locks the screen. It ends the Killer's interaction. For some Killers if the Survs are good enough, it can prevent any hooks at all so the Killer never actually gets to have their goal, thus locking them out of their goal and possibly forcing bad behavior like slugging. It craps on baby players for no reason except to give some people an ego stroke.

It needs counters just like anything else in the game. Lightborne is healthy for this game, because it is an optional anti bullying and anti frustration perk, no different than something like Off the Record or Decisive Strike. Simple as. Don't tunnel, and Survs will not bring DS or OTR. Don't flashlight bullysquad, and Killers won't bring Lightborne.

    It's simple manners.

I was agreeing with you but then that last paragraph. Trying to compare Lightborn to OtR and DS is absolutely insane to me because one perk completely negates an entire play style while style also acting as a QoL perk for the person using it, while the other two are at best a mere hinderance to the Killer.

If a killer runs Lightborn then they can't be blinded. Period. But if a survivor runs DS and/or OtR, they can still get tunneled out of the match. The extra endurance hit and 5-second stun does absolutely nothing especially since killers that like to hard tunnel are extremely stubborn anyway.

im not even pro or anti Lightborn, but to casually act like it's at all comparable is pretty insulting to me. Killers can play around DS/OtR. Survivors can't play around Lightborn. Big difference.

  • Out of all the killers that have yet to be added to 2v8, the ones I most realistically see being next in line are Clown, Artist, Freddy, Demogorgon, Doctor and Dracula. As those are the remaining killers that don't have a second objective that makes things more complicated nor do they take any time to set things up.

Pyramid Head could work too I guess since his cages are already a part of the mode. Chucky and Houndmaster could work as well. Everyone else would be a bit tricky.

Ghostface is supposedly leaked to be in the next 2v8 but I have no damn clue how that's gonna work with his reveal mechanic

You're bringing up all these extreme, emotional scenarios to justify survivors having broken stuff. The fact you're bringing up blood points screams casual. If not that, then the suggestion that killer controls match flow. Sure, the killer trying to tunnel someone out puts pressure on the team, assuming they want to get all 4 out, but what's the response to that? Gen rushing. They were gonna gen rush the killer regardless! What is a killer to do against a team that can do all gens in, let's be generous and say, 7 minutes? The killer's chases are like 30 seconds minimum, not even counting the downtime of carrying to hook, finding the next survivor, and/or kicking the gens. He's gonna have like 5 hooks by the time all the gens are done, and that's with him playing the best he possibly can.

"You're bringing up all these extreme, emotional scenarios.scnario.."

Funny, because this uis exactly what killer mains do all the time. Heck, you go on to do it in this very same reply.

But to address your point on tunneling and Gen rushing. Are you really gonna try to rewrite history by pretending that Patch 6.1 wasn't a thing? Because let me give you a brief reminder of what happened:

Killers were given max slowdown meta (CoB, Eruption, Overcharge, Surge, Pain Res, Deadlock, even Ruin and Pop, which were technically nerfed, were still very viable) while survivors had pretty much all available tools that helped against tunneling basically removed (Strong perks like Dead Hard and Iron Will were nerfed/gutted, DS was a complete joke with it's 2-second stun, the extra endurance hit from OtR did absolutely F all especially against killers like Nurse and Blight, and the basekit BT was a very pathetic 5 seconds) and not to mention the additional 10 seconds added to every generator

So with all these slowdowns + extra 50 seconds on gens + shorter chases + lack of anti-tunnel for survivors, what did killers go and do? Oh yeah, that's right, I seem to recall that they only camped and tunneled even HARDER and MORE OFTEN than ever before. Despite having the clear advantage in most matches during this time. Why? Because they simply could. There was no punishment for it and instead Killers were usually only rewarded for it.

So let's stop pretending like Killers tunnel survivors out at 5 gens because they feel like they need to because of survivors forcing their hand with gen speeds. Killers who hard tunnel will always do it simply because they can/feel like it. Which is exactly why "second chance" perks and mechanics need to stay as an option for Survivors until at least BHVR actually does something to address tunneling and find a way to punish killers who do it while simultaneously rewarding/incentivizing those who choose not to.

EDIT: Also, you say that me mentioning things such as hard tunneling is just me bringing up extreme scenarios that are rare, yet in the very same breath you go out of your way to defend tunneling as some necessary evil that killers are forced to do because something something gen rush and pressure. Make it make sense.

  • i never understood this whole argument about survivors having so many "second chance" perks in the first place because you mean to tell me that the role that's literally called SURVIVOR has perks and mechanics that are meant to help them (wait for it) SURVIVE!? Le gasp

but also, the real main reason why Survivors have so many "second chance" perks and not Killers is quite simple.

    Because unlike survivors, killers can't:

    • Die
    • Get tunneled out of the match in 3 minutes or less while getting minimal bloodpoints and a miserable experience
    • Facecamped to death by Bubba
    • Get slugged and left to bleed out on the ground for 4 minutes

As killer you don't have to worry about any of this happening to you when loading into a match as you control the flow/direction of things. And even if you have a rough match as killer, in my experience you still walk away with usually more bloodpoints than at least 2-3 of the survivors

3 minute hook stages is absurd and to deny that is blatantly disingenuous.

My guy, you say that survivors are the ones who complain about every little thing on the killer side till they get nerfed, yet there are literally threads on this very forum of killer mains complaining about Blast Mine and demanding it to be nerfed (even though it's already been gutted like twice since it came out). Freaking BLAST MINE!

Also, the extra 10 seconds to hook stages was completely necessary, as that should've been added in patch 6.1 when they added 10 seconds to generators. It was only fair.

  • @Bodark said:

You can just simplify “The Freddying”

    • New Killer Releases with a power that could be anywhere on the spectrum of very weak to very strong
    • Survivors simply don’t like the power and refuse to learn the counter play or interact with it
    • Demand Nerfs
    • Review Bomb Chapter until Nerfed If Devs don’t listen
    • Rinse and Repeat for every single killer

If you make that the Criteria then you can apply “The Freddying” almost every single killer that has ever released!

Freddy was quite literally the worst killer in the game and survivors still wanted him nerfed because they refused to learn that 1 action they had to do to wake up. And then they review bombed the game until he got gutted.

    Classic Survivors!

kinda like when Reassurance was nerfed from PTB to live because killers complained "wahh I actually have to chase someone else waahhh I want to camp hooks forever waaahhhh gotta keep my pResSuRe waaahhhh"

And that's just one of many examples over the years

Are you saying it's skillful to find the hatch before the survivor? You can't be saying that surly, when hatch is rng based, sometimes it appears next to the killer sometimes it appears under the survivors feet. That would be luck based not skill. I'd argue it takes more skill slugging the 3rd survivor then actively chasing and downing the last one legitimately instead of killing 3rd survivor then rely on luck of the hatch and best case scenario close hatch to start egc and wait.

"Are you saying it's skillful to find the hatch before the survivor?"

never said it did. The difference is that when there's 2 survivors left and you are able to down one of them, only can the killer even be able to hold the game hostage. Not the survivors. Killer can hook and kill the 3rd survivor and then if they find hatch they can close it and the survivor is forced to either die to EGC or try to get a gate open. And trust me, killers slug for the 4k WAAAY more than the scenario you're talking about where the last survivors just refuse to touch gens. Be real. Finding survivors isn't hard and the way you worded it you make it seem like you just chase the last two survivors off gens while refusing to commit to chase.

i just don't see the point in purposely letting a game drag out for an additional 4 minutes when it's faster to just hook Survivor #3 and then play hatch. And if the last survivor happens to find hatch before you do so what? 3k + hatch escape is still considered a win for the Killer, your MMR still goes up AND you still usually pip.

"I'd argue it takes more skill slugging the 3rd survivor then actively chasing and downing the last one legitimately instead of killing 3rd survivor then rely on luck of the hatch"

how so? If there's 2 survivors left and you down one of them and don't immediately pick up, their teammate is obviously gonna pick up on what it is you're trying to do and they'll usually respond in one of two ways: 1) hide the entire 4 minutes out of spite, or 2) try to hide for like 30 seconds but then get bored and not wanna participate in that stupid loser ######### and so they'll carelessly run out in the open to revive their teammate. In the case of the latter, you getting your 4k that way had nothing to do with you having any "skill" it just meant the survivor has more of a life than you.

Same for genrushing. If they're going to buff anti tunnel, there better be a nerf to gen speeds coming with it at the same time. Otherwise this games just going to keep getting more and more survivor sided

    "more and more survivor sided"

    40% escape rate. Nuff said.

  • 4ks are completely meaningless outside bog Adept achievemens and Tome challenges (which 99.9% of killers that do this stuff aren't going for). And even so if you have to bleed out the second-to-last survivor to get said 4k, then there was nothing skillful at all (which I thought was supposed to be the point of a killer wanting a 4k, for bragging rights or whatever) about it cus it usually just means the last survivor got bored and didn't wanna hide in lockers and crouch in corners for 4 while whole minutes.

Just stop. If you 3k and the last survivor happens to find hatch before you it's still a win for you, the killer. I promise you're mommy and daddy aren't gonna disown you.

You can't play casually as killer. You have to work and sweat for wins, especially with B tier or below killers.

That depends on what each killer's definition of a "win" even is.

For some of us, simply getting 8 hooks is a win.

  • What the hell is a "skiller"? Some kind of new hybrid between a Survivor and a Killer?

I'm actually kinda terrified now just thinking about it.

Survivors not having basic communication is part of the game. No pinging, no voice chat, no text chat. Its not toxic at all to use perks or add ons that block information, its part of the game.

SWF and the HUD icons existing completely nullifies this argument.

I will agree there is a subjective marker IF they are running those perks. However, an exception doesn't disprove the general rule. In 99% of cases it is objective.

What people find fun is subjective. However that is not what you're describing. The option on hook is, "do nothing". Anything, is objectively more fun than nothing. If there was any "realistic" play making to do on the hook "generally speaking" then I would agree with you.

Just because you don't agree doesn't mean you need to resort to insulting. I focus on the subject matter of the conversation and provide counter arguments, not insulting the other person.

except you're not doing more when slugged compared to being on the hook. Holding down a button to slowly recover is the same as hitting skillchecks while in Struggle phase. You're only other argument for why slugging is somehow less boring than being hooked essentially boils down to "dedicate you're build to situational niche perks" just to avoid/counter an annoying and unnecessary but fairly uncommon playstyle. This is like telling the average killers that going against Boil Over sabo squads isn't frustrating because " you can just run Agitation, Iron Grasp, old Hangmans Trick etc and keep slugging everyone at the cost of not getting as much Sacrifice points etc"
