HUGE NEWS FOR SOLO QUEUE (PRESET CHAT)

In the latest AMA on reddit, assuming anyone hasn't seen it yet, they've just revealed that we're going to be getting a communications system incoming soon!

ChatWheel.png

I can't express how good this is going to be for players who primarily play survivor in solo or duo queues, even being able to communicate something as simple as 'I'm going for the save' is going to be a massive improvement, and we might even get the ability to communicate perks or items depending on how they do it. The fact its not an 'in the vague future' thing but actively scheduled and communicated is great, and I'm very happy that they were both working on this and allowed to reveal it and when we can expect it.

Comments

  • It is huge, but honestly, Survivors dont use the current information at all. Like, in every game where I have Deliverance ready, there is someone who runs towards me or waits to unhook me. Or people who finish the last Gen despite the tunneled Survivor having DS which could be used before the Gen is done.

Even with stuff like Kindred you see that people go for an Unhook despite seeing someone else already going.

Not want to be negative about it, it is a good change and a much needed change (which could and should have happened YEARS ago), but it will not suddenly fix SoloQ being miserable. But it can only help to be honest.

  • The intention is great, but honestly I have low expectations. A chat wheel isn’t going to prevent me from continually being matched with brand new players, my teammates getting downed 5 seconds after chase starts, teammates hiding/blessing totems/being generally useless all match, etc. Matchmaking and skill measurement are a far bigger problem than solo queue communication, yet BHVR continue to ignore this far bigger problem. I won’t get excited about anything in this game until BHVR address the real problem.

  • As long as it can't be spammed. Still most likely going to be the trolls that just spam random stuff.

  • As I already wrote in the other thread: the last UI change—which lets you see whether your teammates are doing something or not—also had hardly any noticeable impact on gameplay. Most players simply don't understand what that information is supposed to tell them. So, what is the point of telling a teammate to go for the unhook if they don't react to it at all. So I am more afraid of this being used to troll than actuall having a positive effect (that it normally should have).

  • I hope these lines are actually the characters talking at some point if its even optional, It'd be so fun to interact with other survivors in more ways when playing alone.

It'd also be really immersive when you're all working together and you can hear like Claire and Leon co-operating, or also hillarious for you both to be going "Yes, no, yes, no" on a gen at each other.

Because Communication never was the issue with SoloQ. Or never the thing which made SWF better than SoloQ. As I have written in my post, Survivors already get information, but dont use it. Like, you dont need Comms to see if a teammate who just got hooked in the Basement has Wicked and can unhook themselves. Saying "I have Wicked, dont come to me" would be extra information which would not even be needed.

However, if you would put 4 good Survivors together, they would not need a Chat Wheel or even Comms to be good, since they know what they are doing.

Overall, SoloQ is mainly a Matchmaking Issue and not an information or communication issue. But again, I also said that it will most likely not hurt at all, so I am all for it. But I dont think it will really change much to make SoloQ a better experience.

  • Can't wait for the rebecca called "Wambulance" to sprint across the map to the unhook while spam pinging her medkit and her four healing perks.

If you can read this i love ya i laughed so hard at your silly plays

If you think communication like coms dont make difference and isnt thing that makes swf strong well that isnt good joke.

Communication makes night and day difference, if you played any team game then you should know how different it is when your team plays silent or when it does communicate and shares information.

Finally at Last BHVR a DBD mobile comm wheel, thank you!

  • While it will never be as good as a sfw on comms, I am really glad they are equalizing the levels between sfw and soloqueue. Hopefully the wheel has sufficient enough options to cover the most common callouts.

  • every little bit will help for those who play solo q seriously

Its not like its a random system BHVR is adding its something ALOT of players wanted.

Obviously Comms help. Nobody can deny that.

But if you think that Comms are the reasons why SWF is better than SoloQ you once show that your knowledge of the game is not really good. You can put the same 4 good players in a game with and without Comms and the result would roughly be the same. And you can put the same 4 bad players in a game with and without Comms and the result would also be roughly the same.

I dont know how Killers can still cling to the myth that Comms make bad Survivors suddenly good.

Skill is one thing but shared info is something that makes even worse players better and they make less mistakes like now how many soloq players look if someone has deli? I think only few in thousand but these same people on coms if they arent so silent introverts and can speak and tell others they dont need save because they have that perk thats huge improvement.

You will denny it as you did few times before but shared info makes even not that good players play better it doesnt pudh them on comp level no one claims it as you say, but it makes them make less mistakes, be more aware about game state, where the killer is or was or what someone runs anc thats huge improvement.

Thats like you claiming that that hud update for other survivors didnt help at all but it did a lot, like ones that didnt bothered to look on games situation and think where someone was and what they were doing and ignore hud info today stayed same but the ones that watch it and are aware got better edpecialy their game sence and knowing game state like who is doing what and when to rotate for save or pick up.

Things like these make people play better, I played many games like r6,csgo and difference being in team that speaks and shares info and makes call outs was big even playing in swf in DBD where one guy just type with me on steam but was with other two on coms made games so much easier and escapes or getting endgame saves so easier, again you will probably denny it as you did few times before but I think everyone has some experience with this and my is communication makes people play better and more focus on the game thrn when they are alone.

We can address more than one problem at a time. Though I think trolling will make this into a double edge sword I also think this is a bigger win for less experienced players who don't read how the match is unfolding well and that's a good thing. Some small amount of info will help people get a grip on the game better. And at least you won't have two people running for the hook if you can call it out. Wins are wins and people have wanted this for a long time.

    absolutely

  • Not too bad and overdue for a long time.

But we will have to test it when it is on PTB (I hope they test it first). A chat wheel seems a bit hard to use from my point of view in certain gameplay situations where communication could win or lose you a game.

In other words: I am not sure if I can handle a chat wheel when I try to loop a killer injured and dead on hook. 🤨

On the other hand this chat wheel cannot be this complicated. It has to be simple stuff like "I go unhook"/"I need help"/"Stop running, I am right behind you and want to give you a heal, but you are panicking and running away from me and not looking back, so we both lose a big amount of time, please just stop running".

You would not need a Chat Wheel in this situation since the Chase Indicator shows what you are doing and what your teammates should do (Gens).

And if they need a Chat Wheel Command a la "I am being chased, do Gens", then a Chat Wheel does not help since they should know what to do when one Survivor is in chase.

This supposed “in the works” MMR rework has been “in the works” for years now with absolutely no indication that it’s coming anytime soon. i generally agree with like 90% of your posts on this forum, but I don't get your logic here. Because you are essentially implying that people who play Survivor by themselves are inherently dumber and worse at the game than those who choose to play with a group of friends. Being an introvert who struggles to make a lot of friends IRL doesn't make one less intelligent/competent than people who are more social. It just means that the latter group are way more likely to find others who also happen to play DBD regularly. Just because most of the people on my Xbox friends list don't play DBD doesn't make me automatically worse at the game than the average SWF player.

  • Please force it to be on by default with an optional toggle to turn it off, if its off by default its DoA.

Not really and I dont really get how you come to this conclusion.

What I mean is that SWF is simply removing teammate RNG. Obviously as Solo Survivor you can play with 3 other great Solo Survivors who are all good at the game. This can happen. But you can also play with 3 people who dont know if they are playing DBD or Minecraft. And SWF removes this. (Obviously if the SWF plays to win. Most SWFs are just friends playing with each other, so they most likely dont care if some of them or all of them are terrible at the game)

Just as an example: Lets say you are a good DBD-player. We end up in a game together and you carry me. This is RNG, since instead of you I could also get someone else who never touches a Gen.

But if I invite you to an SWF, I will not end up with someone who does not touch a Gen, I will end up with a good player all the time.

    See what I meant?

    See what I meant?

Great exsample of soloq vs swf with coms difference can be seen right now in lights out.

Where soloq just wonders and plays with no info just only with what they see or can see on hud (state of their teammates) a swf can do more things like navigate themself more easily, get reset heal in one location where killer has no idea where it is, giving each other info on where killer was and which direction je went and helping each other on gens to get them faster or do trickier saves etc.

If you dont see advantage of swf that communicates compsre to soloq which is only held by each players skill and their game sence then I dont know what will.

Thats lights out but same works in normal mode same, shared info and strategies have solid impact on the gameplay. Like soloq one guy sees ghostface near him at the start heading towards the main now in soloq that means this info has one guy and others are in danger because they have no idea but on swf with coms that one gux calls it out, shares info with his team and they know same as he does so that killer is now in dissadvantage compare to regular match against same players or with simular skill if they would be just soloq even worse players can use this info to fend off thst ghostface gor longer then they would in soloq.

Thats main difference and you dont need that extream knowleadge of map part names to do it like clock system they use in comp.

  • Dunno if it's possible, but it'd be great if in endgame there were a "leave me" option, because i hate the back and forth hook trading or multiple people dying to save one.

There wasn't anything about intelligence in Aven's remark. They simply said bad is bad and good is good regardless of communication. People in a SWF just know what to expect from their teammates. That, and caring more about one another, are the differences from solo. I can confirm that I am both dumb and bad even playing mostly SWF. The comms have yet to make me good. Meanwhile, a very good solo player will be very good regardless. They just don't know what they're walking into.

Have you ever watched a SWF and listened to their comms?

I cannot recall that the only thing they say when one of them is in chase is "Oh, I am in chase, please do gens."

It is not about the basic actions of a squad if someone is in chase, but certain other things like "I am here, tell me where you are, so I do not run into you" or "I am in big trouble, can someone help me for a sec please - I am in main upstairs". The special and detail cases make SWF strong, not basic commands like "do gens".

And those special/detail things are hard to do with a chat wheel while trying to survive in a chase - even if this chat wheel would be THIS detailed.

  • A chat wheel is a win as far as I'm concerned. I don't want proximity chat when I'm solo, otherwise I'd just SWF

  • Anything is better than the two easily misunderstood gestures we currently have (or 3 if you want to count crouching).

I wouldn't get too excited about this being massively game changing, though. It's going to be incredibly simple stuff along the lines of "Killer is near" or "Going for the save". It will still take situational awareness from your teammates to realise if someone who said they were going for the save gets intercepted, then it will be up to somebody else to get off their gen to go rescue instead.

I feel like there's a decent amount of info available to SoloQ Survivors just from the HUD but it isn't being used all that well. Hopefully a chat wheel will at the very least help those Survivors who are more switched on to co-ordinate a little better.

This is what I'm expecting from it. It'll hopefully be basic phrases that will help in those times you're maybe guessing what someone is doing but it's not going to be a huge game changer. Hopefully theres options to say "leave me" and "focus in gens" so a survivor can use those when being camped, save teammates time from swarming hook and let them know you're ok hanging out on the hook as long as they're making it worth it.

  • Generally I think it's a good idea although it needs to have short, important messages to get across and it shouldn't need more than 4-5 options. My biggest fear is that we end up with a bloated chatwheel and we end up in a situation where you're handing too much free information.

  • This content has been removed.
  • I agree comms aren't what makes SWFs great. Just based on the escape rates SWFs don't win that much more than soloq. I just think if four players are in a gaming group together there's a good chance they're good players who can loop. But I'm not complaining about some form of comms. I'll take anything I can get to make solo q easier.

Idk I'm more optimistic. I think it's definitely more accessible than the pause menu perk list. I've got to admit i can't be bothered to risk going afk for long enough in a match to figure out 15 perks and a lot of players are the same.

But seeing universal preset communications will definitely help eliminate a lot of time wasting in soloq matches.

They boo but you're absolutely right. 3 other good players is a miracle but it happens and I've seen and done it all with those rare gems. I usually turn the game off after a match like that instead of ruining a good win high with a typical match afterwards lol

  • It was nice to have in the mobile game. The visual heart beat, and interaction toggle both came from the mobile version as well so i can see it possitively fitting into the game if its done with the same kinda chat bubbles they had in mobile. You also got a new chat bubble wheel for when you were on the hook to tell people the killer is camping or to focus generators, or if noone is coming to help you there was even a call for help lol

  • Was there anything said about adding end game chat to consoles? I feel like I always miss out on the shtshow lol

  • Personally I am not too keen on this idea but I understand why it will be implemented. This or basekit Kindred is needed for solo queue.

I hope they add a toggle for it, though.

Toggle would make the system pointless and would possibly be worse then current system as people would get frustrated as ######### when they are doing a callout and just get ignored (Because someone else has it toggled off)

If you show who has it toggled on, it will just lead to rampant lobby dodging anyone whos not using it.

safegaurds do need to be in place tho so the system isnt annoying for players eg cooldowns so its not spammable, making UI size of callouts adjustable.

No that would ruin the whole system.

Unless you split lobbies in the back end into Comm wheel survivors and non comm wheel survivors then it would not be a issue.

I dont want team mates that refuse to even look at team mates doing callouts. this isn't like end game chat where people can write whatever they want.

  • I'm long past the point of struggling while playing this game solo, so I don't see why a chat wheel is necessary. If it helps beginners who are having a hard time, though, it's a good thing
