  • It'd remove the tunneling (except on the last individual hook you make), but it'll still remove quite a bunch of chases, right?

Isn't that a common complaint on Ebony?

Footnote: I don't really care what happens to it.

  • Let me ask you this...

How often did a Survivor offer to be sacrificed because you had a bad game?

My point wasn't that people don't do it because it's not fun, it's because there's nothing in it for them. The bit about fun was just to counter your point about people being bullies for the sake of it.

Killers camp because they think there's something in it for them. Either they want to secure the kill for the sake of BPs/ranking up because they don't realise it's not the best strategy, or they just do it for the satisfaction of watching a particularly toxic survivor die. Either way, there's something in it for them, even if it's not "fun". 99.9% of the time, you won't find a single survivor who spends the entire game hiding and nothing else, let alone a full team, because there's simply zero incentive for them to do so.

My bad for not understanding you actually meant there's nothing to gain.

Yet the same still applies though, or otherwise it would never happen and this post wouldn't exist.

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer, but I didn't want the comment to be too long. It's not based on a "false fact" but rather a general understanding of human nature. What I should have said was, they don't want to sit around doing nothing because there's nothing in it for them. Not only is it wasting their time as much as it's wasting yours, but they're not having any more fun than you are.

Killers and survivors bully each other because they find it fun and they don't care if the other person does or not. Survivors do not find sitting behind a bush for 20 minutes fun - as a stealth-based survivor main, I can personally attest to this. Evading the killer is fun. Sitting in one spot or crouching around the map doing nothing but walking and waiting forever is not fun. People don't bully other people if there's nothing in it for them. That's just not how human psychology works.

I get how it's not fun.

    But that's not the point.

Some people deem camping not fun, yet will do it sometimes.

Same applies here, and to let the hostages be taken hostage just cause it happens very little isn't right.

The numbers might need to be raised some more, but the time limit won't ever affect any regular players, INCLUDING stealth players.

It's not meant to apply pressure to normal gameplay, and if it does, once again, i'll happily raise the numbers some more.

  • Jane & Kate.

    Too "gorgeous" to kill.

    😳

  • Didn't they put the limit to prevent a certain way hackers gained BP in the past?

As far as i know, security on the game had a massive upgrade, making it very hard to do so now without getting banned.

There's probably another reason by now to not raise the cap since the cap is still there.

That's a good one! I feel there going to be doing this mostly through the rift/archives system some of which will be paid it seems.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664787#Comment_664787

Really interested to see what kind of add-on revision you'd like as I have a few ideas but you seem to be more of a pig main then me.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664790#Comment_664790

Honestly I only think ebony moris need some tweaking and only something slight at that, along with keys conditions being changed ie can only be looted with plunderers (no rarity change mind you), along with more aura reading abilites. Also mori spam shouldn't be a thing, and keys shouldn't have to use charges to "turn on"

Well yeah, but i'm just really hoping this isn't gonna be as little as Dailies.

Like, if it's just gonna be the equivalent of getting 5 Dailies per...rift, or however it works, then i'll be a bit disappointed.

Glad to have more to do, but still a bit disappointed.

  • Deeming it fun as Killer?

Well not really, it's just sitting there.

You can't really put it to use as it's always being used.

And then you can of course hear the noise sometimes that your Totem just got cleansed.

With Perks like Devour Hope, Save The Best For Last, Spirit Fury+Enduring, etc. existing, in comparison, no, i would not say this Perk is fun at all.

Getting results out of equipping might feel good, but fun? No.

  • It's things like this that make me like my Devour Hope build even more.

Plus i might only avoid DS coincidentally because of the build, but once at 5 Tokens, i don't have to care about DS at all! 🤗

  • I mean you're not wrong.

You'll just run for 5-15 seconds to find a Generator.

    Indeed, that's very slight.

  • Sure, i never really disliked the Killer Cube.

It probably needed work, but it felt better than doing super well and still depipping.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcmI1zdTL3o
  • You'll end up with quite an abundant amount of Tokens with those numbers.

I could get behind this...If Dull Totems were actually important besides being a tool for No One Escapes Death & Thrill of the Hunt.

  • But what do the Tokens do?

  • Stacking some Windstorms is pretty hot.

My average match times are 15 to 20 minutes.

This is of course exasperated when survivors decide to go immersive if I’ve managed to 3 gen them. Especially if I’m Plague and keep puking on everything

Then Generators add an additional minute.

  • @Fibijean said:

Even if the killer is so bad and the survivors so good at stealth that no one ever gets found (which I have never seen happen), survivors don't want to be sitting around doing nothing any more than you do. They're playing the game because they want to do gens and escape. Just because they're not genrushing doesn't mean they're holding the game hostage. They're either going around doing other objectives, in which case you should have plenty of chances to catch them, or they're focusing completely on being immersed and not doing anything, but that's super boring for everyone and I don't see why they would do that. I just don't see any rational incentive for what you're describing to ever take place, and if it does, it's so extremely rarely that it doesn't need fixing. Worst case scenario, maybe one game in 5000, you're forced to disconnect and report them.

This comment's first half is based on a a false fact: They don't want to sit around doing nothing?

Cause that's incorrect, both sides sometimes simply want to "bully" the other side by stretching out the game's length.

Not seeing why they would do that doesn't mean they won't do that.

It also does not affect the regular matches one bit, as that's simply not how long regular matches last.

It's purely to remove the potential of taking a match hostage.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/665353#Comment_665353

well whenever survivrors complain about campin or tunneling everyone jumps saying "its a playstyle deal with it" or "use x perk to counter it"

that said, if theyre still trying to win (even if its just waiting til the other dies to get hatch) it shouldnt be considered hostage imo

But they're not trying to win.

They're giving up their primary objective to hide.

  • @YaiPa said:

It wouldn't be fair. The timer should be so much generous there's not point of having a timer. Conditions should be met, survivors can run out of time not because they were not willing to do gens, but because they were occupied elsewhere.

Also this would speed the genrush even more.

Genrush is a problem by itself and needs a separate fix.

As for the timer, if 23 minutes in total isn't enough, then it's not the timer that needs fixing.

Oof having a feature added for something that happens rarely?

Yes, cause there's no need to keep an opportunity for this problem in the game.

No one has to worry about it since most people won't have to deal with it.

Saying there's no need for it is a good indicator you won't have to deal with it, but you're not speaking for everyone.

both perks are useful in so many situations idk whats the problem you have running them, i just gave you solutions to your problem, stealth is a playstyle and itll stay in the game forever

    They are useful.

The problem is that you're suggesting that, to fix a problem that can be fixed in a better way, people should give up a Perk slot instead.

It's a solution, but a bad one that is often done by the devs: Just use this Perk.

Stealth is indeed a playstyle and i don't know why you bring that up, since that's not what this is about at all.

    Stealth does not equal hostage.

  • Yup, pretty much the only way you'll counter my headphones while injured.

  • @CoffengMin said:

i rather not having that. just use wishpers or surveilance, youll find someone at some point

Oof, having to use a Perk slot on something that happens very rarely?

  • Devour Hope's pretty neato.

Not many things are as scary as: "Lalala, i'm looping you, stupid M1 Kille-OH #########, 1-SHOTTED!"

  • Well yeah.

One is on purpose, the other isn't.

  • Welcome to any PvP game, where trolls will troll.

I've had enough times where people disconnect just after being downed instead of disconnecting immediately cause secret Offering.

Like catching a fish and it then unhooks itself and goes back in the water.

  • @Peanits Could you see this come back at some point?

  • Well, the amount of nerfs doesn't indicate if they are good-enough nerfs.

Let's say there's a Perk that allows you to heal 100% faster at all times, which is way too much in the current state of the game.

Nerfing it by removing 10%, then 10%, then 10%, then 10% and then 10% is a lot of nerfs spread over multiple patches, but that doesn't mean it's now super weak.

Sprint Burst has a LOT of nerfs for example, but it's still holding up super well.

Whether it's the best Exhaustion Perk is a discussion i don't want to engage, but at the very least you can't ever go wrong with it in terms of generally strong Perks.

  • Why would I?

If one wants to farm BP with Survivors, he's the one you need.

If you want a balanced 2nd-chance Perk, he's the one you need.

If you want a Perk that provides a challenge, he's the one you need.

If you need to fulfill your desire of playing as a topless male, he's the one you need.

  • I can't predict if it would be more positive.

But I can tell you I'd immediately close it and never open it again.

  • The game itself.

Love it a whole lot, but i'm so done for now.

I'm hoping they'll implement more goals and/or challenges like the Dailies, except, y'know, better.

  • All Survivors dead.

  • Absolutely Alan Wake.

Could have a Perk that makes Generators produce less Skill Checks but also makes the Great success zones of the Generator Skill Checks bigger.

(The Skill Checks in Alan Wake are incredibly easy, but it's not a competitive game, so the Perk would need some sort of drawback.)

Could have a Perk that makes Flashlights a source of healing.

(Light is the only way to gain health in Alan Wake.)

And could have a new challenge Perk (like No Mither) that removes anything supernatural from your vision, like Auras, notifications (y'know, the BOOM+black bubble thing), Entity Blockers, etc.

Of course, this would raise the BP you gain by a certain amount to still get something more out of it than just a challenge.

(Idk, i simply like the challenge No Mither brought, and i'd like some more.)

I would've liked for him to bring a dodge Perk as well, since if you time them right in Alan Wake, the game slows down for just a bit and shows off the attack missing, very pleasing.

But we have Dead Hard, so yeah.

Anyway, i think the world of Alan Wake would be a fantastic addition in general.

He usually uses guns, but he's not a fighter, he has to run if he's out of ammo, which fits since the Entity will surely strip him of all firearms.

Alan Wake writes stories, so he'd probably get along just fine with Benedict Baker, and the devs might be able to get Alan write some stories about the Entity and its world, characters, realms, etc.

  • Can you put a timestamp?

  • Uhh none.

Most streamer names I encounter disconnect cause they got downed by a Wraith.

Not even kidding, there's some that stay, but that's probably cause a viewer won and gets to play a round with them or smthn.

  • You can make quite some discoveries when all Survivors suddenly use the same tactics.

Adrenaline used to be pretty rare from my perspective.

And now it's not that uncommon to see 4 of them pop back to healthy.

Not saying that's OP, I'm saying that something gets nerfed, so they'll find something else, abuse the ######### out of it and it'll hardly go by unnoticed.

  • Or just hide them in the lobby.

So I’ve decided to keep track of my DBD games for 100 solo games (at r1), and have been keeping a spreadsheet.

Here is a link if you want to check out how my games have gone : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Fmwuhlmag8s32myoqtKQvCxneF5WNWhRvE4bz6pWfRQ

Escaped 8/15 games. Each game averaged about 19 minutes long. A lot of other stats I am keeping track of too. Solo can feel like a chore, but on paper those games didn’t look too terrible.

Oh I should note, this is my perk set for the games which won’t change :

Spine Chill, Iron Will, Adrenaline, and Small Game.

All games are played while I am R1/R2. I didn’t dc from any match.

    19?!

That's more than double what the devs want!

No wonder they don't address primary Survivor objectives. 😆

  • This'll be closed quickly at this rate.

  • I like that the Doctor still sounds like he's laughing when he gets stunned, it's just a more nervous laugh.

you list no reasons for why the fun faded. i have played over 2 years and had a blast. what has made it less fun is the inability to dodge. once a killer is in a certain proximity, you're screwed. unless you love running in circles in a show of "skill" (i don't), running is largely useless. also, being chased off the hook every game is the biggest buzzkill. even with borrowed time active and decisive strike, i'm still tunneled almost every game. i play a lot less these days. still love the game but just not much time for it anymore.

thankful for endgame collapse though as killer. best idea to date as most games as killer i had to quit because of game being held hostage.

i have not quit even one game as killer since egc was implimented. huge thank you to the devs.

I avoided naming reasons for my growing dissatisfaction towards the game to in turn avoid talking about it.

I didn't want this to turn into a discussion on why i should like something i deem not fun, or at least accept something i deem not fun.

EDIT: One thing that would definitely help me have more fun again is to have more to do.

And i don't mean grinding for Perks, cause grinding is still grinding.

I mean that Daily Rituals just aren't enough, i want more goals than just 1 tiny challenge for 1 tiny reward per day.

I can make my own goals or challenges, but you run out of those more quickly than you'd think. (Plus i of course won't do goals or challenges that aren't fun to me.)

My first time seeing you quit .

you were in the forums all around and it seems you care alot about this game

    good luck my friend

    I do care a lot.

I'd probably still care even if i completely quit.

Because this game has been growing a LOT, not just on our side, but on the devs' side too.

And i've been there since the game's infant days, i feel like i helped it grow. (Albeit i probably helped like 0.01% or smthn.)

The team is what, 3 times bigger now?

Plus there's a bunch of licenses on this now.

Feels weird to say it, but i guess i'm proud?

I mean, the team was extremely questionable at times (I'm looking at you, Howling Grounds), but the game's absolutely in a much better place balance-wise.

I think I've been like that with every game pretty much. I used to play so much Path of Exiles then I go through phases where I don't touch it for months. I think it's healthy to take a break from something for a while, especially if you are not enjoying it so much recently.

I hope you'll still check in with us on the forums though @Boss I like reading what you have to say.

Well that's kind of you. 😭
