Other users already explained why map offerings are the main issue and not maps itself - even though there are still some busted sided maps.
With the removal of map offerings, some fun games like Myers in indoor maps will also disappear.
This a lowkey argument.
This a lowkey argument
Low or not the forum will be filled with people demanding the return of the offerings because they were deprived of their favorite strategies.
Other users already explained why map offerings are the main issue and not maps itself - even though there are still some busted sided maps.
However, I still object, think in terms of fun, not balance, as all players are playing for fun time.
Removing or reversing it would greatly harm the game even though it is a change intended for balance "Oh, this map again, I don't want to play it," and ds.
We will see players trying to play a specific map and waiting for luck and if not they will leave the match and try again, the result is long waiting times to enter a match.
If you say why do they do this? ask yourself why so many skull merchant take the game hostage even though it is so boring brainless.
-
So the survivors send you to a map to get an advantage and the solution is to reverse or remove the offerings?
Isn't the problem the map itself? Isn't it better to fix the maps instead of denying all players the ability to go to any map they want to play on?
With or without maps offerings the game still sends you to those maps and one side gets the advantage, so we will make another post asking for the maps to be removed so that no one plays them?!
With the removal of map offerings, some fun games like Myers in indoor maps will also disappear.
All because someone is blaming the maps offerings instead of the terrible design maps themselves.

I never thought I would see comments talking about its strong effect, some of you even commented that it would get angry .
It's hard to see the effectiveness of perk from a survivor's perspective so thank you for your comments.

What's going on with most of the comments here? My post is a sarcasm, not a complaint.

I mean it's the same for Lara and Ada, they're both pretty adept at martial arts so they could probably take on some of the weaker killers like pig and legion even unarmed.
It's just the limits of game design.

Such strength, especially since he is half vampire, does not suit his role as a survivor. His humane and emotional side, which he inherited from his mother, does not suit his role as a killer.

I have completely 0 problems with that. :D
Franklin's demise: "Did someone say items?"
This is one of the reasons why I will bring this new perk.
I can recharge my item any time and I don't have to go to Locker to recharge it.

I heard that upgraded items are not going to be saved in your inventory.

You realize that this wouldn't make any difference besides that you could heal other people two times instead of one don't you? So you could still only heal yourself or others without addons.
If you actually want medkits to be able to heal two other people basekit then I'd say only the higher ones and the addons for charges would have to be turned down because it's like before otherwise where you can use one single medkit 5 times it feels like xD
I know, it's just changing numbers.
If they really wanted players to use the med-kit on other survivors they could increase the healing speed and literally make it more useful to use on others than on yourself.
Currently the med-kit is in a strange situation where the difference between each rarity is only 5% if you use it on others.
I don't think there will be any rework or fix anytime soon, at least not this year.
-
I can say that it is 100,000 times better than what we got, throughout my reading I did not feel bored or read quickly, I was excited to know where it ends.
I don't compliment at all

I think this topic has kinda been discussed to death but an idea occured to me. In the discussions about accessibility the survivor experience is first and foremost.
What about killers who are hard of hearing? What about the perks that negate the audio cues those players already struggle with? Audio is more important to killers than survivors. What if survivors had chucky-esque footsteps you could see behind walls? What if your aura was briefly shown every time line of sight was broken, to help out people who have a hard ring hearing?
There's an intersection of accessibility and balance to be navigated. The truth is that not everything is for everyone. If I had severe arachnophobia I wouldn't boot up spider simulator 2024 and expect it to change to accommodate me. Audio cues are a huge part of this game and eliminating then in the name of accessibility changes the game completely.

Well, I've seen some killers who didn't see me heal myself right in front of them with Bite the Bullet.
It's skill ;)

@Rick1998 said:
you need a headset to face any killer. Try playing against a chucky , pig , wraith or myers without a headset .
Not impossible, when you notice that none of the survivors are being chased by the killer then pay attention to your surroundings and it becomes easier if the killer is constantly patrolling the generators
Most importantly, make sure to fix the generators on the side that allows you to see your surroundings better, so the killer won't have a chance to catch you off guard.

Typical, ignoring the points you know you cant refute. A mobile game is a mobile experience, hence why aids are put in. Spirit's power isnt a CORE MECHANIC, it doesnt need an aid.
"What harm would it do if this visual cue was carried over to other versions of the game? Nothing!"
If you really have to ask this, you only care about nerfing killers so you dont have to learn to play against them.
By your own logic, then im sure you're okay with survivors having their auras revealed constantly while they are in chase. It's only fair! You lose nothing! Visual and hearing impaired killers need this aid! It totally won't be used by everyone else for advantage or anything… /s

From here I understand that you do not read carefully before responding.
Want to see survivors during chase? There are dozens of perks to do that for you.But here I am talking about one killer you need headsets to play against while the rest don't! A killer who doesn't care about those who are hard of hearing or deaf.
Why do you want to keep the killer as it is while the problem has been solved in another version?!
Your argument is that the mobile version is for quick play or to pass the time, and here is a contradiction in your argument. All versions have the same gameplay, the same characters, and the same rules, so anyone who plays the game will know that it is a game that most likely will not end in 5 minutes.
This game requires time from you. If a person wants to pass the time or play quickly, there are hundreds of games that do that.
So back to the killer spirit whose problem has been solved in the mobile version and no one complained and that's all I ask for.
Maybe I will change the title of the post and some of its content because many people did not understand the idea.

How did I not notice that?

Its designed to be played as a mobile game. That being a casual, on-the-go experience to pass the time. People play mobile games because their an accessible option; thats why people veer towards pc/console gaming instead when the option presents itself. Thus dbd mobile is designed to be a low barrier to entry, free game to pass some time on your commute etc etc. Therefore its designed to require as little investment as possible, I.E. made to not require headphones.
However, some ideas are transferred from the mobile version to the other versions, such as the visual terror radius, so what really prevents the use of visual cues in all versions?

No…. mobile is an entirely different game that has to be balanced differently precisely because people arent sitting there with proper headphones, speaker and other hardware.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3785192#Comment_3785192
You really here advocating people should play on monitor/TV speakers? If you think sound is important than you WOULD use a headset, or failing that a proper set of speakers set up properly to give correct directional audio feedback.
What? The mobile version is the same as the other versions, the only difference is that it meets the mobile requirements to run it, such as graphics and control.
Same gameplay, same characters, same maps, same rules, so how is the mobile version so different from the other versions?
What harm would it do if this visual cue was carried over to other versions of the game? Nothing!

It’s hard for me to genuinely take post like this seriously because some people will just “stuff” like this in hopes to get the game made easier in their favor.
Spirit is good where she is at. If you have a hard time hearing in general, than that’s going to be an issue for everything and that’s the understanding you have to consider when playing a game.
It sounds harsh, but when I had both eardrums blown out I had to use garbage hearing aids to help me, especially for games but also realized it’s my problem.
I don’t mind a solution to this but if it involves taking and sacrificing who spirit is as a killer than no. 👎So we agree

I was talking about playing hearing impaired as survivor as well. But as a non-impaired player (I assume, apologies if I'm wrong) you dont deserve extra visual cues because you refuse to use the sound cues. It does not matter that you dont know what killer it is when the match starts; Because a headset doesnt take up a perk slot, if the killer is spirit you can simply plug in your headphones next time you're safe. Its like 30s of your time and opens up a world of counterplay for you to use, however when you choose not to use it you lose the right to criticize the audio-based killer's balance. This isnt a "bring calm spirit for ultimate weapon situation", this is a "have basic gaming equipment avaliable while you play" situation. But yeah there should be some kind of visual cue that shes phasing, not showing where she is but just that shes using power. Like how people used to say the shards glow.
I saw in the mobile version that there is a visual indication when playing against the spirit, and it looks like a red curved line that increases in intensity the closer she gets to you, and this curve tends towards the killer.
So I think it's also right to add that to this version as well and then it's fair to face her.

it's insane you need to explain this to player in 2024. Imagine being dev, add sound hint on every killer's move, balance game around TR, undetectable and read that sound doesn't matter in this game and you can play without it.
Understanding of game's basis: 0
Confidence that your opinion matter: 100
Average player nowdays. Probably same players, who "Wow visual terror radius, now I can play with music on * DC when I grab him off the gen *"What is the problem that I asked for?
I didn't say that sound is not important, you may not know that you can play this game without a headset and just use the screen soundAgain, not using headset to play does not mean that you cannot hear the game sound.
Can the game be played without sound? Yes, it will take some time to get used to.
Next time make sure to read the entire post before jumping to the reply button.

because killers have directional sound cues and tracking survivors at low sight loops needs good use of audio. Thats why iron will is strong, if audio like injury noises wasnt valuable information it wouldnt have been meta for so long. Why SHOULDN'T the player use a headset? Besides spirit needs the headset much more than the survivor does. Unless you're deaf as long as you can hear that she is phasing, then you can counter her. After that its mostly mindgaming her. There should be a visual cue that shes phasing for the hearing impaired players, however you dont have the right to complain when you are choosing not to use the solutions presented.
I am talking about playing against, if the player have hearing problems then the player can simply play another killer.
But it's completely different when you play as the survivor, you don't know the identity of the killer until the match starts , if the killer is the spirit and you do not use a headset or have hearing problems, then you have no chance of standing up to it when being chased.
As you said, there should be visual cues to help deaf or hard of hearing players because without them the match turns into a complete guessing game.

You should be playing with a headset anyway and its not like a perk, you can put on your headset any time! Its not her fault that you lose wen you are actively handicapping yourself and then calling for nerfs.
Why should the player wear a headset? Any other killer you can face without being forced to use a headset, the entire game can be played without a headset
Why do you think they added the terror radius to help the deaf or hard of hearing if the player must use his headphones?
-
@VomitMommy said:
Spirit needs headset too. Seems fair...
She can still see scratch marks and she still can use her powers to navigate a map, etc.
While to face her against her, you need to use a headset.
This is unfair, you can't know which killer you're going to face.

I don't think it's a failed or abandoned concept , It can be said that there are easy and free alternatives that players prefer
according to my years of playing this game, I have only seen a handful of survivors using support perks.
Does this necessarily mean it is a failure? No, but the reason it is rarely used is that the player cannot see the benefit of using it regardless of whether his team benefits or not.
-
Oh my god the survivor running without making any sound at all.
Imagine this with Boon: shadow step and with iron will and a flashlight, and you still have a fourth slot, this is the most powerful chase build in the history of the game.
-
@SoGo said:
The higher rarity should be a thing, and I would also like special, unique items to have a chance to be in chests.
Also, maps and keys need an overhaul along with their add-ons, some of them are useless.
I would really like to see this in the game, currently chests without perks are forgotten at mid and higher levels.
-
@djsoundlimit said:
I only agree on the increase of rarity, but not on more chests or shorter opening time. It is part of the gameplay and suspense. That is well balanced. The killer has iets mto decrease the amount of chests and survivors have items to increase it. Well balanced. I have no problem with the time on opening them.
You can always use the perk : Built to last, I use that one
With the increase in the number of chests, you will get a more benefit from the chest perks, as the chests can be opened by any survivor.

How exactly does the tutorial induce this?
The in-game tutorial teaches new players to throw pallets when they see the killer (even though the killer is carrying Meg and is 10 meters away from Dwight).
So in the game they throw the pallets even though there is another survivor behind them just because they saw the killer
-
@pseudechis said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3702958#Comment_3702958
This is my point its not that there couldn't be more to the advice given by the tutorial its just that the level of advice you propose is beyond what the tutorial is really for.
The tutorial is so you can pick up the game and play it. That's its function, its a technical manual. Its not a boot camp to train you to be the a better player.
They have load screen comments with little pieces of advice but integrating that into the tutorial is generally more than the tutorial needs to do.
So yes the tutorial may have you use the drop pallet command while the killer is further away, but its only job is to show you HOW to drop the pallet. WHEN to drop the pallet most effectively will change depending on what killer, what perks, the loop. That aspect inevitably has to be learned through experience.
Is it a thorough enough tutorial? that's up for debate, but remember a tutorial is not there to replace your learning experience, its merely to get you started and that's what it does.
The result is my team throwing pallets at me and the killer is right behind me
-
I play solo player because I don't have friends who play with me or are interested in this game
-
@JPLongstreet said:
With my controller I long ago had to separate some of the button bindings to mitigate not throwing pallets when near vaults and lockers, but many players do not do this, or don't know they even can.
The point is that the tutorial teaches new players that they should throw the pallets as soon as they see the killer
-
Well, the idea would be better if we had 4 or more chests instead of 3

I don't understand what behavior problem is with him
All I wanted was medieval skins and all I get are skins like these. I don't like them , not even the Skull Merchant received such treatment. All of her skins are very modern and in line with her story, which suits her.

It's pointless to even ask the question. She is a part of the game now. It doesn't matter if you like her or not. Good news is that like 98% of the games you play as a survivor won't see her. I think you can deal with running across her in one out of every 50 games.

Why not have it be a random perk mode. Sweats, especially toxic sweats will likely still play this new mode because they don't care about progression, they just care about winning or making others miserable. With random perks, it is a fun gamemode for casuals while also ensuring that if toxic sweats do play it, they can't bring their try hard builds.
It is true that it will not prevent sweaty players, but it will reduce it significantly. If the game wants to reward you for the strength of your sweat in playing and make your matches more challenging, then it can go to rank matches.
This is something DBD mobile did a few years ago and so far it is still very successful

I liked her.
As someone else in the thread has pointed out, not every killer actually does have that obvious tell for who they are in their design, so I don't consider that a failure of the Skull Merchant's. I thought she looked cool, I was interested in seeing what vibe they were going for, and when I read her lore I liked that too - the whole 'rich person hunts others for fun and sport' is a vibe I think the game had honestly been lacking up to this point, the closest we'd come was Trickster and he was a pretty different vibe. There'd been nothing like The Most Dangerous Game in DBD, and that's basically what Skull Merchant is, just mixed with a "corporate cutthroat" situation that I think blended pretty well.
(Side note, I'm convinced people who say her lore is abysmal are just nitpicking because they already don't like her, it isn't substantially worse than most other stories in this game)
I really liked the gas mask, especially, I always love those. I'm running Trapper's neon gas mask currently, I adore gas masks as an aesthetic. Kinda wish SM's wasn't bejewelled, but it's not too bad.
But I asked what the killer thought about when you first saw her
Do not think that any post about this killer should be criticism or hatred of this killer
