  • The only thing I don't like about it is how the aura doesn't scale up with distance, meanwhile trappers trap auras will take up 5% of my screen all on their own when they are across the map.

  • The stun only takes priority if the pallet was down 70% when the hit was registered. You can still very easily get hits through pallets, even during reverse stuns, the window is now just appropriately smaller. Give yourself time to adjust.

I don't like the idea of buffing one of the strongest perks. Should we also buff survivor meta perks to compensate?

Undying is so weak that the only hex perks worth running with it are retribution, or haunted grounds. In fact the only reason I run ruin at all is because there is no comparably strong gen defense perk without sacrificing more slots for the same work, if it weren't for that I wouldn't run any hex perk except devour hope for when I want to have some fun.

  • Meanwhile, here I am as Wraith, using bbq, surveillance, ruin, undying. Maybe I'm just not big brained enough to understand.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

yeah its a niche perk, tho it would make dragonsgrip wraith even more painful to go against, i wouldnt mind if it did

I've never, in all the hours I've played the game, seen a single killer run dragon's grip besides myself.

They reworked all the older survivors' models and looked at almost all of their cosmetics and made some adjustments to them or even reworked some, I cannot fathom how long that could've taken. I'm sure they can fix totem spawns for each map, would be a piece of cake compared to the models.

Someone working on art assets are not the same people that would be working on totem spawn logic in the engine.

  • @DBD78 said:

Hag is a fair normal mode killer and Trapper is hard mode. It does not seem as they want all killers to be the same in strength and I think that is fine. That said Trapper should not be the weakest killer since he is the poster boy. He should be A-tier.

Arguably trapper with no addons is the worst killer in the game, simply because of how his power functions, its enormously insufferable. I'm unclear how it serves anyone, the community, or even BHVR, leaving him in such a terrible state.

  • @glitchboi said:

    Ehh... just rework totem spawns.

Too much work, thats why undying was made in the first place. Then they nerfed the solution before fixing the problem, apparently because they have no foresight at all.

So can you explain to me how all the ''pro players'' that know how to ''counterplay'' a Nurse and Spirit aren't able to do it? Even though they know what's the Nurse's plan, they can't. Watch any tournament or any SWF ''team'' that go against a random god Nurse and they almost always get demolished with all the information in the game at their disposal. If they could counter her they wouldn't lose as often as they do.

Okay, but now we are comparing apples to oranges. Presumably, a tournament setting is a much more controlled environment than average gameplay. Due to that its easier to play nurse in a tournament as compared to what would be considered live settings. Furthermore using the top .1% of players to balance all of the rest of the game around is unhealthy to begin with. There are always going to be players that can push the envelope with the game engine, it doesn't matter what game it is.

You've also brought spirit into the mix which we weren't even talking about. I agree that spirit does not have appropriate counterplay, and because of that it is very poorly engaging to go against her. I've made suggestions to this very forum of possible changes to make her power more interactive. The problem is that its difficult to ascertain the purpose of these killers. I, personally, surmise that Spirit is meant to be a first order optimal strategy when it comes to very high ranks, purple or red minimum. There are no more complicated killers that are rewarded proportionally for their skill in that are better, numerically, than Spirit, but Spirit is easier to learn in comparison. Spirit is arguably the 2nd best killer behind Nurse, when in reality she should be 5-6th, where the 5 killers above her have an enormous skill requirement to play well.

In conclusion, Spirit should be the bottom of S tier, but only because superior killers exist above her, not because her fundamental design is the problem. Its a strong power that allows newer players to close the gap in experience with better players. Its a failure of the system around her not servicing the ultimate skill ceiling of the game.

I wasn't exactly referring to the specific case I was just giving an example of a perk that could heal someone as soon as the broken effect expired

If this is intended then I obviously retract my bug report. Perhaps I miscounted my time, but it definitely did not feel like a minute had passed since he didn't unhook himself until I was already 3/4ths of the way to Feng in the first place. I know I didn't spend much time in chase because I grabbed her off the generator as I was playing Spirit at the time.

  • @bjorksnas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2409399#Comment_2409399

If he had the perk second wind it would also automatically heal him as soon as the broken status effect wore off

His last perk was iron will.

  • I was on dead dawg saloon, I hooked the Steve, saw a Feng on BBQ. Steve unhooked himself as I traveled to Feng, I downed Feng and hooked her which allowed me to see Steve healing the Nancy easily within 30 seconds of unhooking himself, on BBQ, with the broken status very visible on the HUD and when he completed healing Nancy, the Steve went to full health state with no broken status. A single minute hadn't elapsed since his Deliverance unhook. Unless you are telling me that the broken status keeps him broken even being full HP, and when the broken status expired that it automatically refreshes the health state to max.

I disagree with you on that. There's quite a few survivor perks that don't require any build around them to put out consistent and decent value. Something like Botany Knowledge doesn't require the support of any other perks to be noticeably useful, it just synergises well with things like Self-Care, Solidarity and more. Similarly, Spine Chill is good in and of itself, it just synergises well with Fixated, and vice versa.

Solidarity, Resurgence and Deliverance is more a single effect on three perk slots, similar to how Flip-Flop and Power Struggle don't really offer adequate value separate from one another.

Meanwhile here I sit using counterforce, inner strength, soul guard, and MoM for a tank survivor build.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2408706#Comment_2408706

That is a fair point, broken should persist for its full duration, even if the survivor circumvented it and managed to get healed up. Definitely report that as a bug.

The point about these perks being 'meh' is that, outside of this niche scenario which can swing it in momentum, they're not that good. It's basically a potentially strong but -very- circumstantial effect taking up three perk slots to fire. I think that's a fair trade-off from the killer's perspective, because there's plenty of other perks that could've gone in those three slots that would've given the survivor more to work with, such as Spine Chill, Prove Thyself, Botany Knowledge and more.

I did report it as a bug, but the rest of your post you basically just described all perks really. Most of them aren't powerful enough to do much on their own and they need builds around them to make them shine. I think arguably the best generic survivor build is Iron Will, Spine Chill, Windows of Opportunity, and Borrowed Time.

And before anyone asks about WoO its because it allows you to see the resources still available throughout the match, which allows you to make the correct pathing decisions always, which will save you as much as any exhaustion perk. If correct pathing and WoO can't save you the only possible exhaustion perk that could've would be a 99'd Sprint Burst.

A good Nurse will never go in a straight line for you. She will try to go to the edge of the wall and get los like that to aim their second blink and hit you. There is no special movement you can do to make her wonder what the hell you just did if she does this technique. I do agree that with trees it's different since you can either go forward, left or right but it's still a change out of 3 that she hits you if she doesn't use her first blink properly. There is nothing about muscle memory that comes into play doing this and if you look up good Nurses of play aginst them you should know they always hit on their second blink after getting the los.

They don't always get the 2nd hit, if you know what they are doing, the technique they are employing, then you can dodge it. Thats the rules of the game, shes not Deathslinger where its on the deathslinger to be bad and miss. Her power takes skill, and it has adequate counterplay, you just perfectly described to me what a nurse does, so why can't you dodge? You know whats going to happen, path accordingly. If people are struggling against nurse, then they need more practice against her. If you ask me they actually need to lower the barriers of entry to nurse so there is a greater gradiation between bad and excellent nurses, giving survivors a better opportunity to practice against her.

  • @Firellius said:

If it's not, it should be. Survivors can always use some extra build options, and it's not like Deliverance is even halfway decent with how conditional it is. He's stacked three 'meh' perks together for a fun, but still conditional effect, so I see no problem here.

I mean you can call them 'meh' but the effect is a pretty hard swing in momentum. Furthermore if it is intended I don't really care about that, what I care about is the broken status being removed. The status should persist even if managing to get full HP, enabling a killer to take advantage of the choice to use deliverance even if it takes hitting them again. (e.g. similar to a form of BT)

I really don't get what point you're making to make here. Yes you outspeed her in terms of m/s but she has blinks to catch you. If that's what you were trying to say.

No, thats not what I'm trying to say. Even when a nurse is very good, how good they are also becomes a weakness. Their muscle memory becomes a crutch, so just behaving a little weirdly against an excellent nurse can cause them to fail regularly due to how her power works in combination with game knowledge. Its very simple geometry even when going through walls. Presuming we are specifically talking about in chase, you know where she is, you know she has to travel a straight line to get to you, you know she gets 2 shots at blinking. You can very easily do the math in your head in such a way to continuously dodge her in the open. Something that you can't really do for any other killer because they'll just bloodlust you.

  • Nurse is the only killer you can run around in an open field as well, so now what?

  • Bloodhunts should happen at least twice a month, I would say around the 1st and the 14th~ right after reset. If they absolutely refuse to change the bloodwebs, presumably because they would feel compelled to add a 3rd kind of prestige, then its the most reasonable long term solution to the growing grind.

  • Originally the system would take the average of the survivor ranks, but it was eventually changed to take into account only the highest rank since a really good red rank survivor can easily 1v1 a killer at purple ranks and below. (Think a purple rank with 500~ hours vs a red rank with 5,000)

Furthermore I don't think your friend was tunneled, I think in actuality what happened was that the killer correctly identified that they were your weakest link and took them out of the game. Thats not the same as tunneling. Thats making a proper, strategic decision based on the merits each survivor has displayed to the killer.

If you would like to help your friend get better I would strongly recommend getting into a kill your friends with them and practicing. For all intents and purposes, this is what a KYF lobby is for.

If that's what you got from this discussion, then I'm worried.

I'm not sure why you are worried about me. All I'm doing is going back to a rank where everyone isn't playing optimally, which gives me the freedom to not play optimally. Which is what I want. Thankfully with enough practice I've been able to figure out how to get as few emblems as possible while still giving survivors a chance to play the game so I don't safety, and they still get a lot of points. I don't care about winning, I care about having fun.

  • @Sadsnacks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2404012#Comment_2404012

    That's not what I asked.

I asked in what game can you reset your RANKING. Or your MMR.

Any game on steam where you can start a new account and family share the game with that new account, which includes DBD. So now what?

  • @Milo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403985#Comment_2403985

In what game, the ranking system allows you to reset yourself to way lower rank?

Prestige systems exist in all sorts of games. 2 in fact exist in DBD already, the first is the ability to prestige survivors/killers up to rank 3. And the 2nd is your 'devotion' prestige from leveling your account. Its not my fault that rank 1 is filled with 500 to 10,000 hour players, so I'm not sure why I'm the one getting punished for it by forcing myself to de-rank to not deal with the primordial soup mess that is high rank.

  • Okay, but if a survivor stays within hook range to pause the timer for longer than 5 seconds, hook time actually counts down 10x faster.

  • Iron will just became literally the strongest perk in the game, a direct counter to spirit, and there should be no reason at all that any survivor does not run Iron will 10000% of the time. Lucky Break optional.

  • @Milo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403977#Comment_2403977

Let's see... That has to take a few months? The person in question could lose a bit of their skill?

And even then, if they a rank 1 they will QUICKLY get out of there up to rank 1 (unless they throw on purpose) and won't be back unless they again want a couple of months. With the thing you're proposing someone could cycle through ranks at blast speed if they wanted to (and rank 20 would be like rank 1)

Are they going to lose their skill or blast back to rank 1? You can't have it both ways. The ranking system is garbage, it would be nice to have more direct control over it.

  • @Milo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403968#Comment_2403968

You see, that's how you (maybe) would use this feature.

How would other killers and survivors use this? The lobbies would/could be more of a mess than they're now.

How is it any different from a rank 1 survivor/killer not playing for a few months and getting de-ranked to 17?

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403968#Comment_2403968

Then use what perks you want and play the way you want. You just want an easy win against people with little to no experience with your "fun build" how is it fair for a someone who just started to go up against someone who's gotten to rank 1. Not too mention even if you don't abuse it to bully newer players I guarantee you someone else will

I don't want easy wins. In fact this whole last month with the anniversary event and bloodhunt going on I barely killed anyone, so the game would say I actually lost nearly, if not all, of my games during that whole time. For your information the only time I did kill someone is when I accidentally miscounted hooks for identical survivors, or didn't notice that their team let them get to 2nd hook. I think it should be clear from my post that I don't want to win at all, in fact I want to lose every game so I don't have to play with other rank 1s. And yeah I figured that would ultimately be your response "Some terrible minority of the community is going to insist on being terrible as they always do" which is usually the argument against implementing literally anything no matter how positive or negative it is.

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403959#Comment_2403959

okay then don't sweat easy as that you don't need to go bully some one who just installed the game to do that

I'm not even trying to bully anyway, I just want to be in a place with enough room to actually use any perk I want instead of the hyper meta perks, or forced to camp/tunnel/slug because thats just how fast the game is.

I'm trying to suggest this to remove a lot of toxic behavior.

    @Milo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403944#Comment_2403944

And repeadetly afking is actually reportable and I think bannable (I've seen it talked in another post).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403934#Comment_2403934

Is that game fun? If killer afks, you get to hold down M1 for ... 3-4 minutes.

And if survivor afk/suicides then it becomes awkward for killers.

I agree its not fun at all, thats why I'm trying to add this so I can just reset my rank after I hit rank 1. I would much rather play the game and have fun with people in low ranks pulling my punches and letting everyone go at the end since I actually had the chance to have an enjoyable game instead of survivors holding M1 for 220~ seconds and being out.

bro just play the way you want and if you start loosing you will be where you want to be anyways why does bhvr have to just hand you easy games by matching you with people who have barely played at all because your bad?

Mate the problem is not that I'm bad, I can end a game as huntress in 3 minutes without reloading. The problem is that I don't want to sweat so hard every game. Its supposed to be fun but it gives me acid reflux.

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403934#Comment_2403934

I report killers for afk whenever I see them, its f*cking boring to go against dude. Believe it or not people play the game to, you know, play the game. And you also havent talked about how this would again just be giving people the ability to easily smurf did you think about how badly this would effect the new player experience?

Yeah I agree, I would love to play the game to enjoy it. So let me drop my rank back down to 17 or 13 or whatever it needs to be to get try hards out of my games. People are going to easily smurf all the want anyway. Can't you just family share all DLCs to a new steam account and have everything fresh at level 20? Whats to stop PC players from doing that 800 times a day when I just want to go back to where all the perks I worked for are actually worth anything.

  • @gilgamer said:

It would take hours to do that and people can kindly report you (not that reports really do much) on your way down.

I intensely, and wildly doubt I'd get reported for the easiest games in their lives.

When a propper MMR System is Implemented i hope such things like de-pipping etc. arent neccesarry anymore... The Problem I have right now is, that you even climb in rank if you are worse than your opponents. Leading to the point where you only play against better players and end up with a 0k all the time

I have nearly all killers maxed out at this point, with almost all perks. But all of them but maybe 10 are worthless at high ranks. How can such a game be sustainable with such enormous, wasteful content loss?

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/270671/option-to-hard-reset-your-own-rank

So reward you by giving you an in game system to smurf something that in many games is bannable with good reason. That sounds like a great idea-_-

I'm unclear how its any different than forcibly de-pipping myself within the system. Other than fewer games of wraith played doing nothing.

  • @Mandy said:

When MMR is implemented, Rank Rewards will also be implemented so you will gain BP etc at rank reset depending on your highest rank reached. However, you will not be facing against Rank 20's as that would be incredibly unfair and the system will match you against players of your own skill level.

Yeah, I don't want players of my own skill level. I can only play with the most meta perks if I do that. There is no middle ground whatsoever unless you are a 10,000 hour killer that can do anything they want whenever they want because they know the exact pixel perfect way to do everything by reflex.

  • You also forgot how PC players can reduce their graphics so that shadows/garbage/clutter/bullshit can't be seen at all, making the game 10000% easier for them but consoles are locked to ultra worthless levels of HD.

  • I think the ban penalties could do with ramping up less harshly, or clearing more frequently. I've had internet problems the night before and maybe gotten up to a 30 minute penalty and then have problems the next day, a completely different session, and my first internet flicker gets me a 1 hour ban.

  • Spine chill.

In all reality, Wraith still needs buffs in his re-cloak and uncloak speeds if anything, they are basically the new must run addons on him, basically only exchanged from the windstorm addons. Ultimately, however, its healthier for the game that more of a killers power is in the base effect than in the addons because it makes them more consistent, which allows survivors to be buffed/tuned around that consistency.

Literally the only reason survivors will never be buffed/tuned correctly is going to be because killers are wildly inconsistent with their split power budgets.

  • To be fair, if you include the basement and the highest possible floor in RCPD (the top of the library) theres actually 4 floors in the whole map.

  • Honestly Ruin with no hex totem should be basekit so that the value of downing a single survivor is higher so people don't have to main high mobility killers to actively subjugate the entire survivor team in order to slow their snowball. Not stop, but slow since 1 deliverance or unbreakable and the whole game resets.

  • They actually nerfed thanatophobia because of this perk, so now its the only one that provides both a healing and gen defense in it, but then its completely worthless because of the obsession aspect about it which they seemed anchored to because all of Myers perks are related to the obsession.

  • Or they could just make Ruin baseline which increases the value of having 1 survivor downed/hooked so a killer doesn't have to A) Tunnel the entire team to snowball and 1 hook, or B) Tunnel one survivor specifically to death immediately.

  • @Apollos said:

I noticed that David's Tome 2 outfit came to the store recently, but his Tome 1 outfit was skipped entirely. Why is that? I'd like really like if it was added to the store so I could get it.

David is one of the survivors that is getting a graphical update, its possible that his first tome outfit is getting a rework before being released to the store.

  • Not to be /that person/ but with the silent bell you can hear him breathing gravel with his deviated septum much easier and thats probably the best way to defend yourself against him without spine chill or being able to see his shimmer as it comes up on you.

Also, if you want to counter aura stealth killers in general you could go with Sole Survivor, after just 1 survivor death it completely disables all seeing, and after 2 it disables scratched mirror. Definitely a perk you could use to clutch out the game if you can't get spine chill.

  • To be fair the number of killers that I'm using BBQ/Ruin/Discordance on is incredibly high. There is also the fact that players equate cosmetics with investment/skill so if you have cosmetics for a killer you don't play much even if you like them, you almost always get survivors sweating everything they have. So its almost better to just be default, or frosty eyes for them to chill out. (badumtss)

But no, seriously, there are a lot of killers where too much power of their power is in their addons and not basekit. I would say about 70% of killers would be a healthier and better if they literally just shifted numbers straight across.

  • *Laughs in father's glasses/sloppy butcher spirit*

  • I won't lie I've been having a lot of fun as nurse with Discordance, Agitation, Starstruck and Mad Grit. The discordance so I can do a blink grab into an exposed down. Mad Grit to extend Starstruck for as long as possible before putting it on CD. Agitation because I'm like 99% sure someone was playing the long game at BHVR to make this diabolical combo come to life. Its been pretty devastating.

I hope your not expecting new and casual players to go memorise totem locations of every map. You realise not everyone has the time to commit to something like that. That's why when there's one totem you couldn't find and you ran around the map bit still didn't find it, your still probably not gonna find it.

Its really not that big of a task as you make it out to be. There are a lot of common, generic totem spawns inside generic tiles that are seen on nearly, if not all, maps. With quite a few guides out there with totem spawn locations.

1 … 11 12 13 14 15 … 17
