I'm not sure what you mean by "could have gotten to your destination faster by walking"
You never stop walking. You toss the bottle in front of yourself, at a distance. Check out Trutalent, he has it down to a science. He throws it in such a way that he is walking out of the gas cloud at almost the last possible instant before it activates.
But generally speaking you toss it in the direction of your destination and just continue walking, there is no slow down so just toss and go.
Or they could just make it instant, that you don't have to do that precise throwing. TO A DAMN KILLER THAT WAS ALLREADY IN THE OP 4 WORST KILLERS IN THE GAME. What the hell is wrong with those devs?

They just live in another dimension and ignore every feedback that isn't positive.

Well red ranks have been full of boosted potatoes forever, so maybe this will help lol. Pipping in solo queue definitely isn't easy regardless of the Unbroken emblem, agreed, but at the end of the day this should just make people rank up a little slower in a world where rank already doesn't matter. When MMR goes live rank is even more useless, but even before MMR goes live there's no real incentive to rank up or rank down. If you get tunneled and camped and happen to depip because you needed that one Unbroken tier, oh well, next match you're likely to face a weaker killer. Not a problem. With the new rank-based reward system, the rewards aren't big enough to actually justify grinding for them, so it's basically just a nice little bonus that people really shouldn't be paying much attention to. If you're a rank or two lower because that one Unbroken emblem tier was the difference between pipping and not pipping, oh well, you get slightly fewer free BPs.
That is not the point. If you let's say, avoid the killer and play smart, you actually get punished for it. If you escape through the exit gates, but rarely interacted with the killer or unhooked someone, that is not even the objective, you get punished as well. This system is so flawed.

How is this jumping through hoops? They are giving us free bloodpoints based on rank which we weren't getting before, and when MMR goes live (which is expected reasonably soon) rank will not matter whatsoever aside from getting those free bloodpoints. Making it slightly harder to pip up is therefore not an issue. They're giving us a cookie and the community is mad that it's not chocolate chip. I think people are just too eager to complain - would you rather no free BPs at all?
I have not played much of this update, but I also haven't noticed any ridiculous hits.
Slightly harder? Which planet do you live on? Do you only play SWF or are just that much better than the average player? Because i can tell you, in red ranks with random people and / or killers that like to tunnel / camp, there isn't a easy way to pip up and with this "update", it's even easier to de-pip. If they wanted that even more survivors using the meta perks, they have achieved that (or drop to play survivor at all).

Okay seriously I don’t see how anyone could say the new animations look more realistic than the old ones. They look cheaper and even older. By a ton.
In reality, when I try to walk slowly sneaking by someone/something I walk exactly like old walking animation. The new one looks robotic and fake to me, and out of context mostly.
Running just looks bad to me. Injured lol, if you don’t see how wrong that is I don’t know what to say. They look constipated.
x Agree. It looks wonky to say the least and nobody asked for a animation update. But do you know what people asked? Key nerf, DS, nerf, meta changes, bug fixes. No wonder the important things don't get fixed if they waste time at completely fine things.

@Alify said:

I like new running animations more. They feel more "alive". And if no one complained, this does not mean that it should not be changed. They already explained that they were trying to make the survivors more alive and realistic, well, they almost succeeded
It looks now more clunky. It was perfectly fine before.
Why is it, that people complain all the time and the devs take months to fix it if ever and then they put in work for changes NOBODY asked for. What is wrong with them?

I think the explanation given as to why the killer can't see this was that it would encourage tunneling. If by "hook count" you mean how often each Survivor was hooked (the icon next to their portrait, you can see it when you play Survivor) and not the total hook counter (the circle thing).
Those devs ... Or it would be be the oppsite, at least for me, because the times i hooked someone the 3rd time, where i believed i hooked him only once is too damn high.
-
Agree and it seems i can not see the hook count with killer? What the hell is the reason about that? It's an info for the killer, to maybe not hook someone the third time right away omg.

Yea, everyone is talking about it.
I just find myself shaking my head as I can't fathom what exactly they were thinking with this update.
This is the first time I've seen the devs managing to unify survivors and killers over what is collectively a mess on both sides.
From an outside perspective its actually kind of impressive. Unifying the player base over a catastrophic update.
But the unbroken thing is a bug or?

I just played a game on coldwind farm against a wraith. He has hex ruin and undying active. He tunnels the ######### out a poor cheryl while I do what I've been told to do (Just cleanse totems) and disable ruin. He knew it was me and started tunneling me, ignoring other players. Realizing what he's doing after I'm saved from my first hook (He left to finally go kill Cheryl), I slam a pallet in his face and teabag. Usually I don't want to be toxic but the way he was playing wasn't cool so I indulged. I give him a good chase and he eventually hooks me again. I'm saved but he immediately gets me down and starts slugging me while continuously clapping his bell in my face as some sort of revenge. It was funny cause I knew he was mad.
Most shocking thing of all? He was a rank 1. He may have killed us all but only because he tricked my teammates into thinking he was friendly after my death. What are your triggered killer stories?
Humans get mad over toxic behaviour? #surprisedpikachuface
Nothing new, i got sometimes tilted as well, wenn my undying gets cleansed and my ruin 10 seconds later. It's like playing with 2 perks without the chance of slowing down the game. It's called high risk, high reward for a reason. But the alternative like pop / thana are just inferiour to ruin undying, even after the nerf.

I mean some people don't wanna run perks like BT, I myself prefer more interesting builds, and if I do unhook in the tr ill take a hit even if injured
yeah the other stuff is just stupid, the amount of times ive lost against a legion or plague because they dont wanna be injured when in all my other games suddenly no one wants to be healed (rip my auto dic dic)
Run Kindred it's as good if the killer is not camping. You can even see, if the killer has insidious, if he suddenly disappears without moving.
And with kindred you see, if someone else wants to try to unhook and you can stick to your gen. It's the best info perk.
-
They make it hard themselves, because some tend to have no common sense. They always cleanse against plague, SELF heal against legion or hop in a locker against him, unhooking without BT in the killers TR and so on.
Do yourself a favor and only play SWF, otherwise you will pull your hair out.

Played a game as doctor and couldn't even touch survivors because as soon as id get close to survivors they would throw a pallet on me. I love the look of the map but the pallets make it basically impossible to chase survivors
I recommend to play a killer that can just destroy pallets in no time, like bubba or blight with the right addon.
-
Map with graphics updates are always fine for me. But the new UI is less good than the old one (besides hook counter) and the running animations look more like, they should have kept the old ones, they were allready good.
-
@akumaks13 said:
devs you have excelled with the update ...
It's like they try to include more bugs in every new update. Coincidence? I think not!
-
RNG perks are a design failure anyway. They have no plan, how to create a slowdown perk, that is good but not overpowered.
-
Imagine listening to the people that actually play the game what they want.
It's not like, there are / were daily threads about DS, Mori, Key nerfs or do something about tunneling / camping. It doesn't matter if the devs see it as "legitimate strategy" if 100% of the survivors hate that it is possible and sucks the fun out of the game like mori did.
-
So in a "later update" means, maybe in 3-6 months. Thank you for nothing and just changing things nobody asked for. The only good thing is the hook counter.

There are people in all multiplayer games who RQ as soon as it seems they're gonna lose. Almost feel sorry for them, the best wins are the comeback ones.
They know that, but if they try to not dc for let's say 20 games and only 1 is a comeback, they just know it's not enough for the frustration they have to endure by staying and playing against a killer you don't want to.
-
Still waiting of the strong survivor perk nerf vs. old ruin nerf.
-
The 5 biggest mistakes are playing any of these killers:
- Clown
- Wraith
- Pig
- Demo
- Myers
Ez escape, thanks.
-
Because Doc is basically a M1 killer with an annoying, but not dangerous power. He slows down when he casts it, you can just predrop a pallet and his power does nothing. You can hear when he charges static blast and can run away or hop in a locker, to nullify it.
-
Killer nerfs are more complex. Survivors play all the same, killers have unique powers. Some good perk for one killer, could not synergize with others, like Doc with Tinkerer compared to Bubba with Tinkerer.
-
- Survivor gets unhooked in the terror radius of the killer
- Killer comes back, because he knows exactly where two survivors are
- DS still works for you if being tunneled
-
DotA 2 and Diablo 2

Here's how I find diversity in builds as Survivor. I have around 400 hours in the game. Survivor main.
Prestige and keep leveling. Play the low level survivors you have without all the perk options. I enjoy this early game survivor or, after I just prestige. It's like, make something work mode.
After you unlock a lot of perks and combos you can set things up to help you clear rituals and achievements. If I need to pop totems, I run a locker build, Quick and Quiet / Head On / Inner Strength. Bring a map to track bones.
If I need to do gens and coop I set up Prove Thyself / Streetwise / Better Together. Bring a toolbox, ect.
Decisive Strike / Unbreakable / Borrowed Time / Dead Hard build is powerful. It's a build of second chances, I personally don't run it. I will use thes perks individually or mix match them but, the entire build is a major crutch and, it's play value has no long term appeal to me.
The first 3 perks are top notch in SWF, but as i said, as solo player others would provide much more info. I played maybe 20 games with those out of who knows how much. Dead Hard is definitely the best survivor perk, even when he doesn't work always bc "hit detection" bad.
-
Wraith needs a windstorm and Trapper a brown / yellow bag per default. Pig and Demo need actually good addons.
-
@RiskyKara said:
Is spirit really that easy to pick up?
No. If you are not good at hearing and reading survivors, you won't have much success with her.
-
I don't think, with their spaghetti code, they will ever "fix" that or even thinking about it.
-
It was never about the 5s stun. It is about, that approx. 2 people in EVERY game have it equipped and that you get 5s + an finite amount of time in a chase, depending of how good you are at looping. Time is the most important good for a killer.
Now, you can't just play as recless as before, because it can be deactivated before the timer runs out. That is a good thing and if you can't play with the new one or without ds at all, you maybe should get better at looping in the first place.
-
I played Freddy with bbq, old surveillance, old ruin and pop or thrill of the hunt. Completely aids build and i won most games with it, it's just that good on certain killers.
Tinkerer is now much better now than "fixed" surveillance. Ruin is still the #1 for him. With tinkerer, you don't even need bbq, you get a notification if someone is on a gen.
-
What is more concerning is, you actually have to go to 70, to get all items out of the bought pass or?

Still the fact that he’s incredibly easy to spot on almost every map (Especially cornfield), he’s just a normal m1 killer that can expose you if you’re not paying attention. I honestly think wraith is better than him with the right perk set up, but to each their own.
Leaning is bad, because if you only stand an inch too far away, he doesn't do it. In a chase, where every second counts, the survivor is allready behind a wall. They just should improve his non-leaning stalk or make it harder to detect him by default. Literally nobody wants to use any addons beside the night shroud recovery ones, they are just so much better.
-
Overpowered lmao. Be around a window and his chainsaw is useless, unless the rare times someone uses bamboozle with him, but smart survivors just drop a pallet and run to the next tile. He is so much slower than billy to get to another gen, that you basically have to abuse tinkerer and hold chases as short as possible.

Im up for changing the meta perks but if you nerf them you have to buff the rest or deal massive nerfs to Killers to compensate. Main problem is most Survivor perks are esentially trash, especially the newer ones, Id rather play with no perks than use stuff like Visionary or Red Herring...
Visionary is at least useful in indoor maps, so you find the gens much easier. If you combine it with "better together" it's even better. But on outdoor maps, it's not useful and maps are random, unless you use an offering.
As i said, 2017 was the last meta perk released. All other perks after that, are mediocre or situational at best.

If I’m being personally honest, if a survivor is crying about ghost face being over powered. They’re obviously a boosted rank 20... like seriously a m1 killer that can be spotted without even looking at him and having a 30 second cool down on his power. Talk about sad...
16 seconds with the addons. Without that, good luck playing him.
-
DS out, kindred in.

@Volfawott said:
Haunted grounds and MYC are 60 seconds
Devour hope and Noed are up until they get cleansed in some case that's less than 15 seconds
DG is 45 seconds
Iron Maiden is 10 seconds (soon to be 30 I think)
Ghostface and Myers depends on add-ons
The twins add-on only give 12 sec ( I remember correctly) and it's conditional
Deathslinger's add-on sucks and is super conditional
Perk wise the only indefinite on you can do anything about it rancor and it's it needs the last gen to be complete you can't just go immersed until gates are open
Huntress and Clown are the only problematic ones
*Huntress iri head: No other addon results in so many disconnects or hook suicides.
-
Wraith: Default Windstorm Addon
Trapper: Default Yellow Bag
Pig: Complete addon rework, making them actually usefull
Ghost Face: Stalking without leaning should be 1,5 as fast as now. Leaningstalk is too difficult to get. He should not be revealable behind a wall, that happens all the time.
Demo: Better addons
Nurse: Bugfixes

I main survivor and have ~1k hrs in and have always been in red rank. However my killer sucks absolute ass and especially when I play a weaker killer for daily or achievements, I sometimes get demolished by a team average rank 10.
It takes me extremely long to mentally prepare myself to queue for a killer match, and when I do get destroyed, I won't want to play in at least a few days. I feel utterly defeated when the survivors tbag me at the exit and type ez in the post game chat. I don't want to disable the chat tho- I love having interactions with other players.
I sometimes go afk and let myself derank for a bit to finally get myself together to play again, but as I inevitebly rank up, I run into very good (and toxic) players again that would humiliate me and make me question my existence.
So question for killer mains, how did you grow thicker skin and managed to stop caring about the match outcomes?
Speaking from my own experiences, playing DotA 1 + 2, Overwatch and DBD.
If you rage or get frustrated, because you think your team is at fault or the game mechanics are unfair, you always will fight an uphill battle. In other games with an actual MMR system, you will never get to the point, where you can steamroll your opponetns, because they are in the same skill bracket as you. Only with a smurf account and playing against less experienced players will net you a higher win rate.
If you feel humiliated and your mood changes to the negative for the rest of the day, it's time to stop these kind of competetive games for good. I feel / felt that way, it does no good. Nobody in the world cares, if you are rank 1 in dbd or have 7000k mmr in Dota 2.
Just treat yourself right and play something that won't frustrate you to this negative point.
That's a good read: http://tortedelini.com/2019/05/09/why-i-dont-play-competitive-games-any-more/

Good #########*ing luck to blink on the balcony in haddonfield through the house, because you will most likely not hit it.
I don't think the devs will every make her more beginner friendly, because she is nearly unbeatable in the right hands, but utter trash* for a beginner with those bugs.
They could give her more blink charges, but then the good nurses would be even worse to play against.

Yeah? we all know that lol. and I rarely play with meta perks, I only use BT or DS when i get tunneled / camped like 3 matches in a row, they're necessary, but not obligatory
What exactly does BT do for you, when you are the one getting camped? Kindred would show all other survivors each other and the killer, so it's much better.

Interesting how you only mentioned survivor perks as if Killers aren't relying on the same 5 or 6 meta perks themselves.
Ruin / Undying / BBQ / Pop / Sloppy
I do agree generally. If you are facing the same perks 80% of time, they are just powerful crutches.
Because the game is about survivors (solo) and not about killer.
-
@RakimSockem said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/224463/the-meta-has-to-change
I'm consistently in Red Ranks as survivor (and I know ranks mean very little but I do consider myself to be actually good at the game)
My main build is: BT, We'll Make It, Inner Strength, and a 4th perk that rotates between Saboteur and For the People
Only one of those perks is for me and the rest are to help the team.
Now that being said, sometimes those meta perks people complain about so much ARE essential based on how a majority of killers play. If anyone believes that killers are going to not tunnel because no one has DS, they clearly haven't played DBD and don't know this community. Killers tunnel harder when there's no DS in the game.
Sometimes you get tired of getting slugged and Unbreakable is a counter to that.
Sprint burst.... is trash tbh and I've never liked it. Always preferred Lithe as my exhaustion perk but to each their own. My point is, I don't use most of the meta perks, but I understand why they become necessary.
Likewise, I would love to stop seeing NOED, BBQ, Sloppy Butcher, Thanataphobia, Corrupt Intervention, etc but I also know that despite how annoying and repetitive these perks are, they have their purposes.
There are "less" meta perks for killers. I did not finish my personal research, because blight came out and one meta perk came with him.
- BBQ
- Pop
- Ruin
- Undying
- Nurses
- NOED
- Corrupt
After that, it allready seemed to fall off, with thana / sloppy / infectious fright next on the list.

It would be interesting as well to see which killers abused this and tunnelled everyone as well as who still decided not to tunnel.
Maybe a week without addons? See which killers really need them or which are hardly affected?
Need:
Trapper
Wraith
Trapper and Wraith without addons would get destroyed unless they camp the first one hooked. Maybe if you play on "not otzdarva" level you could do something, but that depends on the survivors you get.
-
Every killer had numerous games, where he played "fair" without tunneling and camping, had a good start but lost the momentum because he played "fair" by survivor standarts. Nobody thanks you for it. I don't do it most of the time because i don't have to, but i can understand under some circumstances to abuse that playstyle.
-
Imagine in a real time situation, you do a stupid "360" to avoid a chainsaw. This dumb move should not be possible in the first place and it is only because of the first person view of the killer.
-
Mediocre perk like Adrenalin. Activates late game and it happens just too often, that the game doesn't last that long.
