NOED Rework Idea

Lots of people complain about NOED because it's an unfair perk, but they don't give ideas on how it could be changed.

The main issue with NOED is that the killer doesn't need skill to use it, he just get free insta downs once the Exit Gates are powered, which is really unfair especially if you're playing against Baby Killers.

So here's my idea to make this perk more fair by making it so that only good Killers can get value out of it: The perk is no longer a Hex, it no longer gives the Killer a 2/3/4% Haste Status Effect, and the Survivors get the Exposed notification as soon as the perk activates. Here's the new perk description:

"You are animated by an unseen force when the Survivors are on the verge of escaping.

Each time you hook a Survivor before the Exit Gates are powered, No One Escapes Death receives a token, up to a maximum of 12 tokens.

Once the Exit Gates are powered, each token is converted into a 6/8/10 second Exposed Status Effect that affects all remaining Survivors, up to a maximum of 72/96/120 seconds."

What do you think?

  • I had an idea that was similar (but it turns into an obsession perk to introduce new killers to the obsession mechanic).

Every time you down the obsession gain one token up to a maximum of eight tokens, whenever the obsession is hooked the obsession changes (maybe whenever the obsession is unhooked or dies because otherwise NOED may become too obvious, but i don't want it to be furtive chase).

Once the exit gates are powered a remaining dull totem is cursed with this hex. Hitting a survivor with your basic attack causes that survivor to go into the dying state, and consumes a token. Tokens are also used up when hitting injured and hooked survivors. All tokens are lost if the allocated hex totem is cleansed!

The only issue is I have is the obsession transfer without making NOED obvious. It shouldn't have the same effect as furtive chase but that'd be the only way to really disguise it! If the obsession doesn't transfer then it just encourages unhealthy tunneling!

I kinda like this change. Though I don't mind NOED in general, but I feel like it's a bit inconsistent with other Exposed perks/powers/addons. NOED and Devour Hope are the only perks that lets you know you're exposed, only when someone gets hit. Every other perk/power/addons gives you a warning as soon as you're exposed.

If only the current NOED would let survivors know they were exposed, as soon as it activates, I think people would have less of a problem with it, since they could just be more stealthy and immediately go look for the totem.

  • As a killer and survivor player... i enjoy not knowing NOED is there. Adds to some fun lol. I do believe the perk needs a rework to not reward literally losing... but I still would like the "oh #########" factor

  • noed is fine just bring a map to counter the perk or taps perk forgot the name

  • I'd be much happier with a rework that removes MM speed and Exposed effect completely from NOED and makes it a perk that blocks the exit gate switches for a limited time based on tokens recieved during the match. Much cooler and less annoying effect that can still save endgame.

  • Although I want the token mechanic, I think it should work similar to Devour Hope, so at a certain amount of tokens the effect would be permanent up until survivors cleaned the Hex.

  • Noed in it's current state is balanced but also pretty damn bad. It just sits there for the whole match, doing absolutely nothing but encouraging survivors to do bones if they think it is in play.

Even when the killer gets any value out of it, it's one instadown and one facecamped survivor. Honestly this perk should just be merged with fire up and both of them would finally be good

  • Mediocre perk like Adrenalin. Activates late game and it happens just too often, that the game doesn't last that long.

  • Noed be active for 30 seconds. This is a correct nerf.

The encouraging survivors to do bones if they think it's in play part. Re read that to yourself.

While NOED is indeed balanced it doesn't make it a well designed perk. I'm all for a last ditch effort for killer end game but at low ranks it just decimates. This game has a player retention issue because it's so hard to get into. This perk doesn't help this game. Do you honestly think it's healthy as is? (don't confuse with balance, deathslinger is balanced. is his gameplay healthy?)
