Original Killers are more creative and usually better for the game. The Team has some high creativity, if we look at the last year, everyone of the 3 original Killers was really creative (and, aside from Twins, quite similar to Pyramid Head when it comes to power).
Personally, I prefer Original Chapters.
I don't exactly think Trickster is creative.

I just watched my friend on his Twitch play a match as Spirit and bullied those poor survivors with 4 gens left. He doesn’t even play killer at all, only plays survivor. All he had to do was listen and put his headphones to good use and it was inevitable that he would destroy them.
Seriously, this killer is in desperate need of an overhaul. It’s too easy to play with no counterplay for survivors. I’m sorry to say it but my love for Spirit has been driven away lately and I don’t feel like calling myself a Spirit main anymore. I’m not sure who I’ll main now but I think I might just play a variety for a bit and if I do play Spirit again, I’ll just run BBQ for bloodpoints and three atrocious perks to compensate for how brain dead this killer is.
P.S. Yui Kimura is my waifu now and it’s gonna stay that way.
Typically, I've found a lot of players who main Spirit don't have the patience or skill to play nurse, so they just crank the volume on their headphones, run the best meta perks, and go afk playing MiNd GaMe SiMuLaToR (bonus points when you make the guessing even more interactive with stridor). There's no real skill that goes into just 'hearing real good and zooming', but a lot of Spirit mains, I theorize (me forming an idea, but not necessarily saying this is fact), are terrified of losing or not 4k'ing. So they do whatever they can within their power to win, and their killer of choice reflects this. If she's ever changed to require even the tiniest amount of actual skill, these people are in for a rough reality when they have to switch to Nurse (and actually overcome her many bugs/issues) or play other killers.
-
Entity, increasing the very short bloodweb grind since 2016. Wait a minute..
-
I mean, it's not like the game doesn't give you a lot of reasons to want to die on hook.
- Freddy, Legion, Stridor Spirit (zzzzzzzzz, next).
- Hawkins/Haddonfield.
- Bugs/glitches.
- Wildly unbalanced queues that make the game two entirely different experiences.
The list could most definitely go on, but in all honesty, I'm not mad when someone dc's from the games I'm in as killer or survivor. I get it now. This is just becoming miserable for a lot of folks, and you can only take so much until you go "Naw, not today Chief."

We can't be playing the same game. For most people on this forum, I wouldn't be surprised if DBD has become a habit, not an activity that brings joy. Just a guess.

Well, Freddy is a reality warping killer (within the context of a dream) and is not the best killer in the game. Soo.. there's that. :P

Good thing shards are around or it would be a long wait for his perks on the shrine.

You don't. Sorry m8.

Fun is subjective. I don't have fun going against survivors with running every second chance perk in the book. They don't care about how much fun I'm having. So I play for my own fun, as should everyone.
Fun for me is them dying.
Yep. And that's legit. It's not your job to babysit killer/survivor fun, cause you just know they're not concerned about yours.
-
It tends to depend on the speed of the generators. If 3 generators are done by the time I have a hook or two, with fast chases, then something's gotta give. I will camp, tunnel, and slug the crap out of your team to have an opportunity to play the game. Now, I don't go into every game ready to do these things at all times, it depends on the pacing of the match. Ideally, I'd like to give each survivor three hooks, but that's just not practical if they're pounding out generators faster than I can get to them.
-
I've tested this recently. I played 20 games with crossplay on and 20 with it off. In 14 of my 20 crossplay off games I escaped with at least 1 other person. In 6 of my 20 crossplay on games I escaped either alone or with nobody else. I could test this even more, but should I really bring this depression on myself?

I don't want to write a novella, so I'll just rip a review from the My Opinion Times: "He's alright."

This. If you play solo you see how many survivors walk around doing nothing. Then you go against a 4 man where all 4 sit on gens when not being chased and you can see how the game just breaks. The game is not balanced around 4 survivors on generators. It's balanced around maybe 2 doing the objective and 2....doing other things.
Think about this:
If the gen times were designed in such a way that survivors HAD to spend every possible second on generators, it wouldn't be a very fun game would it? it really would be a hold m1 sim. So the developers allow some free time, to raid chests, to explore, to play stealthy, to run around with a flashlight clicking it for the killers attention. They do this so survivors can chill a little bit and do more than hold m1 from start to end, this is to make the game more fun.
The whole problem comes when you get survivors that are very competitive and don't mind holding m1. These are the survivors that are fine with a 3 minute game. It doesn't matter if they're solo or swf but obviously swf is much more powerful due to the information they get.
These games only the Nurse stands a chance.
I just can't comprehend how some folks seem to think that, just because some solo queue survivors struggle against really good killer players (using w/e killer), that the game is in any way winnable when the skill levels are equal. To have a -chance-, Nurse/Spirit must be in play, with the strongest perks, proxy camping, and tunneling. Don't believe me? Watch a tournament VOD and see what the best killers in the game have to do to secure a win.
-
If the survivors are good, and they have decided to win - defined as: bringing the best perks, focusing on gens, and holding chases for an average+ amount of time, yes, you lose. This game doesn't function so long as the power role (survivors) decide to do their objective. It's broken on a fundamental level, and the numbers support it.
-
The idea that every killer can just "apply pressure lmao" is absurd. If survivors are on gens AND can sustain even an average chase, the game is over. Playing to win is the death of this game.
-
Not every killer is created equal, and not every killer can 'force' survivors to do anything other than their objective. That's why the mobility/heavily chase oriented killers have dominated the meta. The fact that survivors are willing to stay injured vs all but maybe two killers should say something about the state of the game.
-
If it even fkin works.
-
When I don't play Nurse.
-
Oh, and the prevalence of dead hard in the meta, even if it's super unreliable, can make her job even harder as she's punished with a decent stun for being 'outplayed'.
-
Bugs with her power, areas she can't blink through/to, requires precision, is heavily guess oriented (need to know a survivor's multitude of options in any given scenario and predict correctly). That's probably why she's considered hard.
-
For some reason, I think this thread deserves a necro. The state of the game at the moment really makes me want to repeat this entire post.

It feels like there's been a huge lack of communication from the devs over the past 6-12 months. Maybe it's just me, but they seem so distant from the community it's unbelievable. They're just kinda doing whatever they want it seems like
It's especially hilarious when balance devs get involved in discussions, show they don't know what they're talking about, look stupid, and then say ######### like: "You wonder why the other developers never get involved in conversations." No we don't, they don't want to embarrass themselves by pretending they know what's up, lmao.

Try solo survivor and come at me. That's the real struggle bus.
Difficulty tier list Imo:
SS+ Tier: Solo Queue Survivor.
S Tier: Killer.
OMEGALUL WUT KILLER Tier: SWF.

It's almost like they need more people playing killer. That's weird, I wonder why. Maybe if they bribe their players to play two or three times a day that'll fix it. YEAH! Wait. fffffffff

So ultimately, to make balancing easier (or even possible) we need to make survivor experiences, SWF or not, the same while also eliminating potential for one of these death squads. What do you believe solo queue would need that may put them on par with SWF?
I don't know how you could elevate solo queue to be on par with SWF without completely breaking the game for the killers in the middle. Survivors, in spite of their lacking communication (assuming solo) have all the tools they need to win, they just choose not to. Yes, you heard me right, they -choose- not to. They don't run the best perks, they don't do gens efficiently (split up, one on a gen each), they waste time on secondary objectives (chests/totems), they save recklessly, don't bother learning tiles/tile linking, etc. The base mechanics need to be reworked, changed, or expanded upon for both killer and survivor in order to add equal opportunity for outplays on both sides.
I don't want to write an essay on ideas I'd have, but the forum is littered with them, and there's a few diamonds there if you're willing to look.

@Investigator said:
My question is to contribute to the discussion of killers more viable for higher tiers: how do we buff low tier killers in consideration of high tier survivors without further hurting your sole queue or low rank survivors?
Like, the only killers we find typically in high ranks is Spirit and Nurse so presumably we would want killers at that level, maybe less as they are quite powerful. But how do we do that without trashing anyone except the high tier survivors? Sounds like someone loses no matter what to me.
You can't, because there are many different games being played, and they vary wildly in difficulty and balance. It is based on what sort of survivors you're getting:
- Solo Queue, where teammates are a complete dice roll that you will lose most of the time. This is where the experience is unbearable for survivors.
- The good SWF that can usually 2+ escape vs very competent killers or 4+ against most killers. Balance here isn't perfect, but is probably at its best.
- The legendary death squad that will beat every killer in this game that isn't the highest caliber nurse/spirit, and even then. This is where the game completely falls apart for the killer.

I dont understand why you would remove unbreakable tho.
object of obsession i understand why nothing like getting looped for 10 minutes
No perk in this entire game, not even OoO, has made me go, "If one person has this, I could still lose this game" like unbreakable has.

Unbreakable.

Spinechill hard counters her and pair that with being good at gens makes it a gg. The only thing bs about her is that she has 2 broken addons but if she's not running those it's pretty winnable

Blight is debatable stronger than spirit, so no we are not lacking in s tier killers. We are lacking in skillful killers.
There is no actual debate to be had here. Blight, while good in the hands of a capable player, pales drastically in comparison to spirit in similar circumstance. Let's reel in the optimism just a bit :P
-
If you don't want to be tunneled off of hook and you run this perk, understandable.
If you want to run this perk so you can run around for 60 seconds and be invulnerable to consequences until the timer is up, yeah, not my cup of tea commander. Especially when you can progress the game while the perk is active.

Your game is ruined when someone Kobes? Really? Arent you a little bit overexaggerating?
If I play really well, the game is close, and I'm about to seal it up when a kobe resets the experience.. yeah, it's a bit annoying let me tell you. You already have to outplay the survivors a ton on a per individual basis, and if they're good, this isn't easy in the slightest. So yeah, forgive me if I want to be rewarded for playing well against genuinely good teams and not screwed over because I got 'unlucky'. I don't think that is unfair or unreasonable.

Honestly I don't care if a team is genuinely good, even if Discord makes certain things much more difficult or borderline unplayable. It's the prior combined with the buggy, unbalanced nature of the game that REALLY tests my patience.

I would be fine with getting rid of it.
It's too small to be useful in regular circumstances, and it's just plain annoying in any other circumstance. If you win the game and manage to hook everyone around the same time, you shouldn't have to win again because someone got lucky.
That's basically where I'm at.

I would argue it is balanced specifically because it is rare. Less than 1 out of every 20 attempts, you'll get off the hook, the rest of the time you'll put yourself into the 2nd stage quicker.
If killers had a 4% chance to instadown survivors with their M1, something that could very well win games, but had a low chance of occurring, would it be balanced due to low odds of it happening? Something tells me it wouldn't be balanced nor fair, but hey, that's just me.
-
@chadbeastofprey said:
most of the time i 4% when i'm trying to get out of a match so it would be nice to get rid of it. but only for that reason.
your reasoning is just cringe and whiny though.
You possibly lost a game due to a factor you just had to hope didn't occur, but hey, stop whining. Aight, seems legit man. Thanks for your criticism. Killers don't have an equivalent "4% to X" so why is this a thing on the role loaded to the nines with second chances already?
-
You clearly put a lot of effort into this, I respect that.
You know who won't listen? BVHR. Their opinion matters more than ours, sadly. +1 but sadge anyway.
-
Agreed. Delayed or deleted, but either of those are unlikely.
-
Well, survivors have more perk freedom than killers by a massive margin. You don't even need perks to win as a survivor if you're very good at the game and versing even a solid killer. That said, solo queue survivor is a complete s-show and meta builds are definitely understandable here compared to in SWF.
Killers on the other hand cannot be everywhere at once, they can't stop multiple generators from being done, and thus are super reliant on any means of slowing the game down. Without gen regression/slow down perks, killers have to play more efficiently than ever and resort to slugging, camping, tunneling, etc. All of course are super fun strategies that survivors love being a part of. There's nothing that forces survivors to leave generators aside from the killer's presence or very powerful (cleansable) hexes such as a 3 stack devour hope.
Point being, if both sides are equally skilled at a high enough level, and both sides bring meta perks/play optimally, there's usually no reason the survivors shouldn't win - citation: god nurses/spirits can definitely compete. The math behind the objective is broken, and it doesn't give the killer enough time to actually play the video game if the survivors just hold M1. Quite literally, you can be super fast with your chases, down survivors in 20 - 30 seconds or even earlier, and still lose even if they throw chases. Why? M1 too strong.
-
It has niche use against certain killers (in some loops vs those killers as well), but it's pretty bad. Just forces inefficiency imo.
-
As the kids say: "Trickster lmao."
