Unfortunately, the pig makes Yords and Karu happy, so he must go. The blame must fall on them, people of the forums. We did not want to do this, but they forced our hand. May god have mercy on our souls.

Hi sorry I've been reading the new Skulduggery Pleasant book, but I'm here now.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/241269/interview-series-episode-2-goodboykaru
1) I discovered the game first through Markiplier and Jacksepticeye's videos on it, but didn't really get into it until a friend from school asked me about it. So I got it and I'd play with her and her friend-turned-bf-turned-ex a lot, and they'd carry me as survivor and teach me things. Killer was all on me though so naturally I was a filthy toxic survivor main for too long.
2) So, basically, I created the character of "Karu" as an idealised version of everything I wanted to be. Smarter, kinder, happier, etc. Whenever I was going through a tough time (which was like, every 30 seconds lmao) I'd imagine what he'd do and try my best to replicate it. Basically I made a fictional character to bully me into a better person.
As you do.
The "GoodBoy" bit comes from just something I like to be called- I have massive ######### insecurities so being told I'm not a colossal failure is usually nice- and something else pretty private.
I'm not after you, I'm after your animals.

That's the only good thing that came with that crap Trickster patch. Can we keep this one thing? Yeah? That cool? Thanks.
My nurse loves that perk.
-
DH, Balanced, Iron Will, and flex perk (but sometimes hope, wake up, adrenaline, unbreakable.. literally anything).

You are blind or have zero taste if you think Claudette is Ugly. She is the best female survivor, no one else comes close!
She's smart, beautiful, kind, caring, generous, protective and powerful. Killers fear her power and abilities. Not even the entity can reign her in. She participates in the trials for fun, whenever she wants, only to punish evil killers. The entity tried multiple times to eject her, but her mastery of the shadows put her far above anything the entity can accomplish.
Laurie. Your opinion is wrong. Mad? :)))

Awful games breed awful communities and are made by awful developers.
Makes sense to me. : )

You shoulda walked away, son. Now we teach you this lesson again, a second time. It's nothing personal, just destiny.

Playing the game itself is painful in general
Yeah. Eventually you just reach that point, and it all becomes funny. Then sad. Then enraging. Then it's a 4+ month break.

ive been constantly struggeling at maintaining my Rank 1 with him. i depip on him more than i ever do on any other killer...
also, feedback isnt useless.
they are, however, not immediately jumping into action right away anymore, due to the dilemma that happened after Freddy released - when they nerfed him in week one (uppon requests from the community), even though he was the worst killer in the game even before that.
so when it comes to balance, they wait ~ half a year before actually making any major changes to new characters, so everyone has had the time to adapt to them and they get a much clearer view on what the problems are.
however where i will 100% side with you is when we talk about PTBs. those are there to TEST things and then change them accordingly to feedback - in DbD however they seem to be more of a showcase of what is going to come next. and even if they make changes, they are usualy not what anyone asked for.
though i also can not deny that there are some VERY obvious flaws with the Trickster than, imho, should have been addressed inbetween the PTB and release timespan. most notably the 4.4 m/s movementspeed, that is just laughable.
BVHR learning from the Freddy disaster would be one thing, however, it's been shown time and time again that their decision making process hasn't improved. We still have the same crap balancing in spite of the extended wait period - so, ultimately, what we have is the same terrible results but with a longer window between patches. If anything, it's gotten WORSE.
-
I worry about anything they do regarding game design or balance. Everything else usually turns out pretty decent.
When is the fifth anniversary, anyway?
-
- Base movement speed up to 115%.
- Laceration meter no longer decays if the survivor is injured.
- Laceration meter is reset if a survivor is fully healed or downed.
- Laceration is no longer lost if hitting a survivor with an M1 attack.
- Trickster is slowed to 105% while readying knives versus the current 231312312%. This does not increase as you throw additional knives.
- Trickster gains an additional mechanic - Precision (the longer a knife is held, the more accurate it becomes and the more laceration it adds to a survivor's meter if it hits). This encourages more trick shots and patience versus just spamming knives in a direction and praying.
- Gains a new add-on that allows the Trickster to throw a fan of knives (5) when reaching fully charged Precision.
- Gains a new add-on that removes the sprint burst gained by survivors injured by knives.
- Ricochet becomes base kit.
How's that for a start?

Must be nice not having to do his job for 2 months while the "Stats" are "Gathered".
Boy howdy, wish I could make money AND not have to do anything for two months.

The killer can only ever attempt to mitigate the pace of the game set by the survivors. If generators are too fast, tunneling/camping may be used. If the game is relatively normal and gens aren't flying, they may play more chill and give everyone 2 - 3 hooks each.
Point is, if the game goes too fast, then everyone wastes their time, but especially the killer. In order to get the points they need and keep the survivors in the match longer, they may resort to greasy tactics. Sometimes, even this isn't enough. You get the gameplay you enforce about 90% of the time on the survivor side.
That said, this kind of generator efficiency rarely happens in solo queue.
-
Freddy is boring to play against, but he's effective against most survivors because he can cover all of his bases while being easy to play. If generator speeds didn't go by so fast and the rng in this game didn't link 3+ tiles of BS on some maps, maybe we'd get more creative/meme builds, more enjoyable matches, and a wider pool of killers.
Until then, you'll get your top tiers in about half your games. Blame BVHR.

B O N K.

Yeah, he does need something - bug fixes. Get in line behind bb gril Sally. :(

Boop or die mf'er. You know the rules.
-
This perk is the only good thing to come out of this chapter. Well, I mean, Trickster's perks are generally alright. Starstruck on mobile basic attack killers tho.. mmmMMMMM.
-
The best strategy for Trickster is not to play him. >:)

@Marigoria said:
I still play it everyday, just not as much as I used to.
Basically this.

I do, and they're both god awful. However, at the moment, I need to have a certain number of DBD needles in my arm per day.

@Lord_Tony said:
starstruck is a good perk though too bad it's gonna get nerfed when survivors complain
I use it on Nurse atm with a build centered around it. If they don't nerf it, I'd be surprised. I mean, why would anything in this chapter be remotely good? It was supposed to be objectively terrible in every way. If something turned out useable, then it must've been an oversight.
-
@TauNkosi said:
Yes, we get it. Your first three games playing him didn't exactly go well. We understand he's in need of some buffs. It's obvious he's not nurse of Freddy levels of good. The problem is, you're all playing him expecting to do good without actually working out all his kinks. Stop expecting 4ks and start learning from your games instead of complaining on the internet. I've already run into some tricksters who absolutely decimated me and my teams. It can be done. Just give it some time.
With all due respect, people like you are the problem with this game. "Benefit of the doubt" and "give it time" type of views allow BVHR to either make no changes, or do so at an incredibly slow rate.
-
I mean, for what he is conceptually I don't see a problem with his design, if you like that sort of aesthetic. It's not for me, as I much prefer more conventional slasher/monster designs, but to each their own.

People have been saying the same thing about Legion for years, and yet here we are.
This is also true about Legion. The statement doesn't change for either of them.

What is wrong with a feminine man as a killer? Not scary enough for you? In my opinion what makes the game scary is not the appearance of the killer as much as the skill of a player. A good Clown is much scarier than a bad Trapper.
Trickster, in any of his current forms, is not scary in the slightest, and that's if you assume he was a mechanically powerful killer (which he is not). David looks like he could choke him out easily, lmao.
-
You won't be the last to quit this game, but let me tell you, it's for the best. Good luck to you, mate.
-
People probably don't enjoy his buggy ass power.
-
I use this perk to snowball on nurse. It's incredible on her.

DBD does not have much complexity compared to other types of games, fighting games in particular. Usually when a new character is released, it's commonplace to give them time to breathe and find their place in the meta. However, DBD is so simple at its core that anyone with a bit of experience can typically tell if a killer will be strong or not (except the devs, evidently). The things that make the top tier killers top tier haven't changed, and the base mechanics of the game haven't changed that drastically either, so it stands to reason that the same strengths that created strong killers before still reign supreme.
Trickster is bad in every conceivable way. Someone else on this forum said it best "He's the no mither of killers."

Is there no explanation on a dev stream or something? I don't need any sarcasm.
BVHR doesn't really do the whole "explaining their thought processes" kind of thing.

Reading that tweet somehow makes me mad. Like we already knew they didn't use any of the feedback from any of the fog whisperers who have thousands of hours of gameplay knowledge and understanding of the game or any other PTB participants, but to say "there was no good data from the PTB" when everyone was pretty much universal that Trickster sucked ass, well that person comes off as arrogant. Let's be real, we all know who he's talking about.
I swear man, some people have access to some straight up SS+ tier dealers, because whatever they're smoking is some solid stuff. Kinda jealous to be honest.
-
Wait, you think any semblance of logic, reason, or rational thought was used when this killer was conceived? My friend, I hope you're new, because the benefit of the doubt you're giving the developers is beyond massive.

To be fair the design, marketing and digital art departments did amazing work on this Chapter. The only team that dropped the ball was the balancing team.
Same as usual in that case, right?

You know how people when referring to statistics always reference the majority, but tend to mention the minority exception? That second group, that's where you are. I'm fairly certain most people despise this chapter minus the Blight and Wraith changes (he might be bugged atm).
-
I don't think anyone knows who Trickster was made for. If I had to guess? Probably Almo, it seems like the kind of killer he would design based on everything we've observed thus far.
-
Adjusting your volume preferences is an advanced feature for gaming in 2021. Sorry man, it takes a lot of time and money to get that into most games, that's why a lot of them don't have it available.
-
He's still strong but they basically made him much more annoying to play. Weird ######### happening with his camera all the time, stupid grunting sound + lame ass overheat just makes him kinda sleep tier imo.

Congratulations you uninstalled dbd
Why are you here then complaining in the community that you left? Because we're gonna miss you? To have a systemic change because we want you back? You could've left silently but you chose to refer to the official dbd forums
Well done you uninstalled a game from your pc and you wish to not return. Then don't send a message to the community you despise?
When a heroin addict quits, they try desperately to remove all fond memories of their best experiences. Sadly, those same memories always keep them coming back in some way, shape or form. Wait, we're talking about DBD? Sheeeet.
