You probably would have duped more people if you didn’t admit you “barely play survivor.” Lol. You tried tho!

This right here is exactly what I was worried about. Like OP, I'm ok with the update and the changes it makes. However, BHVR will need to update killer side of things quickly, otherwise nothing will objectively change. Killers will still tunnel because it is by and large the best strategy these days. I might get flamed for saying this, but I also think that adding a gen progress bar is a bit too much info to have. Maybe just an indicator that a survivor is working on a gen, but knowing how much progress a gen has is too valuable of information too have. I've already won games because I know where a survivor is and how much progress the gen they are working on has.
Your argument is a red herring. Nothing will stop killers from camping/tunneling except direct punishments to those playstyles. Patch 6.1 was great for killers and what did it do—it made camping & tunneling more common. Let’s stop pretending that handicapping survivors is gonna make killers tunnel and camp less. No one believes that—not even you.

It's stuff like this where I wish we had reassurance before it was nerfed. Force them to stay in the game
Well killer mains complained it would lead to survivors holding each other hostage or some other bs. But the real concern was that it would nerf camping. So no unlimited Reassurance.

That's not tunneling, that's just camping.
Realistically your solution to being camped is to either not get downed or to play in a SWF that can coordinate a save or slap some Reassurance on you and win the game while you're on hook.
Many solutions for camping have been attempted and all have failed, so that's really the best we've got. Any sort of "if the killer is too close to the hook....." change is abused by the other survivors in some way, or ends up not fixing the problem at all.
You’re right but I feel like “don’t die bro” just isn’t a good solution to OP’s misfortune. I mean OP could play immersed to avoid being caught but isn’t that something killers also complain about? And it’s probably something that would upset his teammates too. Playing in a SWF is a good idea though. It’s a good counter to camping (and tunneling).

You guys bully this perk too much.
But, seriously it does what it does and its not bad at that thing. I don't think anyone here is confused about its single gen efficiency.
And it doesn't screw up a soloQ team any worse than it already has screwed itself (If you are wanting to practice using it.)
It works nice on RPD with a BnP and one friend to keep the killer reliably occupied, or to use their own BnP+ PE on the same gen for a main room 10 second gen.
It would be nice if they made it easier to use, or more fault tolerant or something to sell it a little better.
It’s not a good perk if it needs a bunch of other random variables met—including some other player to basically help you get it to work (“a friend to keep the killer reliably occupied”). It’s ok if you’re in a SWF. It’s a trap for solo queue. If anyone is worried about 3-gens just run Deja Vu and tackle them before they form.
-
Maybe SWFs could get value from that build. It requires a lot of coordination. For solo queue it would be a waste, as sabo and other meme builds tend to be. Personally I only see survivors run builds like what you’ve described when they’re SWF. And I mean I can still usually get to hooks even if they ones I intended are destroyed—without iron grasp or agitation.

Exactly, that's why I was confused by their point. It's perfectly possible (if not extremely viable) to string all those perks together as Exhaustion goes away on hook and Deep wound goes away on down.
you’re right, that was my mistake. Thank you for correcting me.

No, there's about the same - except now you can get baseline BT/OTR into DS into DH.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3334251#Comment_3334251
And...?
If BT or OTR are active and you take a hit, then another hit and go down so you can use your DS, you’re still exhausted unless you run the killer and they slug till your exhaustion wears out. So you can’t really string BT/OTR into DS into DH without the killer basically allowing it. It’s a play that could theoretically work but because DS was weakened it doesn’t really. You don’t have enough time to get away & killers aren’t afraid of DS. FWIW, Otz doesn’t even use it in his own survivor games anymore.
-
Haddie’s perks suck, she’s unpopular, she’s loud. Dredge has a few new skins but it isn’t a popular killer either. And a couple of its skins were basically unused designs (skeletal and the snowman) that the team obviously just knew they could recycle instead of fully discarding.
-
What messed you up was the camping and tunneling. It was your own laziness that brought you to where you are today. Because you saw how easy it was to win by essentially targeting one or two players & then snowballing, you continuously did that. I’m sure that when you played solo queue, if you truly did, then you saw how easy it was for killers to snowball a match from that. So you adopted that strategy yourself. Now you’re facing opponents who are beyond your depth—because you told the game that you could handle it. See, the problem is that camping and tunneling really only work against inexperienced and/or casual survivors . But there are also survivors who have experienced that so much they know how to play around it. Maybe they’re SWF, maybe they’re just adaptable solo queue players. Either way, you did yourself a disservice by relying on those methods as a strategy to win. The Nemesis is a very good killer, and it can quite easily win its matches. But the only way you’ll actually improve as a killer main and with this killer especially is if you basically Smurf (drop your MMR by losing matches; that is, allowing survivors to escape) until you’re placed with survivors who are on your actual skill level. And at that point you need to learn how to play both killer AND The Nemesis. That means no camping and tunneling, at least not until you know how to use those techniques strategically rather than to bulldoze your way through survivors. You’re not as good as plowing through weak-ass survivors had you think, now you’re getting a wake up call. Sucks but it’s kinda well-deserved.

IIRC, BHVR stated that if a match has a D/C in it, the entire match is disregarded for the purpose of stat tracking.
That, and hatch doesn’t count as an escape for survivor. It’s a “null” for them but I believe the 3K or whatever still counts for killers.
-
Aftercare and Bond are better than Empathy (but Empathy is good), Situational Awareness/Better Together is superior to Empathic Connection.
-
You’d probably need to play selfishly so that you’re able to escape through gates & thereby increase your MMR. That’s going to get you better teammates eventually. If not that, play with a SWF. That can also raise your odds of escaping trials.

My perspective has always been that killers need to have a slight edge in order to entice people into the role. It's inherently stressful and bad games on killer feel far more demoralizing than bad games on survivor because it is all on your failing. No distribution of blame. Whereas people are always gonna want to goof off with their friends regardless and when you lose as surv it doesn't feel like a big deal.
…you speak of killer being the more stressful/less fun role but people who play killer can directly prevent people who play survivor from playing this game. I can’t think of any other game where one player has that kind of power over another. Can you?

For Twins you just have to hope they release a rework soon because not a single killer gets the ######### beaten out of them other than Twins cough cough* basekit unbreakable PTB testing
Not to mention all of Haddie’s perks suck, when she was released they literally buffed her perks almost immediately because they were so bad. And they still are but that is besides the point. Also she released with a weird glitch that affected the coloring in her cosmetics.

Fun fact: co op speed nerf is there for a reason because gen speeds would be insane. Sure 4 survs on separate gens get the same repair progress. But tactically it's a different. You get 100% on one gen it pops, then its untouchable, unregressable. 25% on 4 gens is guarenteed not to stay that way.
2 prove thyself on a yeam basically removes a blancing mechanic.
Gen speeds changed drastically with patch 6.1.0, which is why the kill rates presumably shot up by 10-15%. And Prove, while common, wasn’t exactly meta before 6.1.0, when kill rates were 10-15% lower. You’re hysterical about a nonissue.

It must be you, because just yesterday I had a stream were a friend watched me playing Ghostface and I just tried to get my daily, ie mark 4 survivors and I was constantly revealed from the most rediculous angles, no matter if I was leaning or 135° behind them. Within seconds or starting my stalk they had their eyes on me and started to reveal me. It was such a miserable experience.
One of the more outragious ones was a Mikaela who opened a red envelop and I was closing in from about 90° to her side. She fully revealed me before she had the envelop opened, tea bagged me for good measure and was off and away before I could turn the corner.
GF is glitched in a number of ways; it isn’t OP. Sometimes he cannot be revealed at 32 meters, sometimes there is like a delay with his reveal (what OP experienced), sometimes he can be revealed at what seems like a distance further than 32 meters. I haven’t seen the latter very often but I’ve experienced it a couple of times when playing him. I see the delayed reveal thing more commonly, as both GF and survivor. These glitches started with his rework.

I like how that bug where he can grab survivors off pallets/windows/gens/totems from a pretty big distance is still in the game. It feels like telekinesis.

Yea but the problem is they didn't make it easier for them. They made it too easy. Tunnelling was a problem so they added BT as basekit now what happens just chase unhook for 10s and down them again oh look another free hook.
As for the perk situation it's a joke really, the fact survival rate has dropped so much in the overall stats should have been enough for BHVR to notice something is broken but nothing changes.
Basekit BT wasn’t designed to save survivors from tunneling (bhvr has stated this is a viable strategy they do not want to outright punish); it’s meant to give survivors a chance at counterplay. The thought behind it is that survivors
1.) Won’t need to bring a specific perk every game for a chance at not being tunneled out in under 5 minutes.
2.) Will have enough time to find a loop or a pallet and extend the chase, hopefully buying their mates time to finish gens, come in to body block, or in some way assist the survivor being tunneled.
I’m not saying it’s a good game design at all because I think it’s honestly ridiculous to basically put any player’s gaming experience at the total mercy of another player, but it’s what you’ve got. Hence my suggestion that if you’re unhappy with it, force change by making a different financial decision. That’ll surely light a fire under this gaming studio’s profit-driven derrière.

Bro. That kill rate doesn't mean anything though. Even top 5% mmr killers can try to pick up nurse, play 3 bad games and never play again. She is the best killer in the game bar iri-tag alch ring blight on a good blight player, everyone knows this so why bring it up?
Smolbob brought it up because y’all swear Nurse is broken/OP but her kill rate is the lowest in the game (Smolbob, 2023). And while she’s 1 of the 2 most popular killers at ‘high MMR’ her killrates there are in the negative (Smolbob, 2023). So she’s not broken (Smolbob, 2023). Had to cite my sources.

Yup. It’s no coincidence that most of the top killer perks have amazing synergy and are often combo’d for maximum effect. Like before patch 6.1 I was saying you could increase killer base mechanics (which BHVR did), increase Gen regression via kick (which BHVR did), slow down survivors (which BHVR did), weaken survivors’ base recovery (which BHVR did) and killers are still gonna run 4-Gen slowdown & tunnel & camp. And lo and behold.. lol. Because it was never really about fairness or equity. It was always about making games easier for killers. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though.

So Pain res 15% loss + Eruption 10% loss + 25s incap + call of brine 2x regression speed which is 0.5% a second. While people are incapacitated and can't interact to stop the regression. Not at all broken by any means. Oh and for those I've seen being extra toxic. Stacking on jolt for another 8% regression instantly.
I’m not going to call a build ‘toxic’ because that is ridiculous. But I can admit that the combo is quite oppressive. Solo queue (survivors in general) are at a disadvantage anyway. But I mean if BHVR’s prerogative is to deepen that, why condemn other players? It’s really a case of don’t hate the player; hate the game. If survivor players are so upset with this combo they should stop playing the game. And I assure you when that money fizzles out (because survivor mains believe it or not invest more money into DBD than killer mains) watch how quickly that combo gets nerfed. Y’all seem to forget this game is a product that exists for consumption, and money talks in every country (even Canada or wherever this studio is from). Business is business. So take your business elsewhere if you’re unhappy with the product. If you hit BHVR’s pocketbooks they’ll suddenly figure out how to reorient their game in a more fair way—I guarantee it.

Pain Res + Eruption definitely trigger CoB. I run that combo and it’s a chef’s kiss for sporking solo queue survivors. It triggers with any kind of generator damage. :)

Bro, a 10 hour killer probably doesn't have good add-ons and doesn't know what bloodlust is. Plus most tiles on coldwind are so safe blood lust is irrelevant. You also mentioned Ayrun who I have seen run killers the entire game who have probably well over a 100 hours.
It doesn’t matter if a killer understands the bloodlust mechanic; it functions regardless. This mechanic that increases a killer’s speed while they’re in uninterrupted pursuit of a survivor matters because if they’re tunneling a survivor out, it helps. It’s wholly designed to do that. And it honestly doesn’t matter if that killer has good add-ons, bad add-ons, or no add-ons at all. They can still tunnel a good survivor out. Because at the end of the day not even the best survivors can 1v1 a killer. As an aside, yea, Ayrun has run killers all match. He’s also been tunneled out and died to killers who weren’t very efficient, skilled, or strong. Because tunneling a player out—especially if they’re solo—is supremely easy.

I'm not sure how a 10 hour wraith is going to get a hit on a 10k hour survivor unless the survivor lets them. The only way they are going down is if map rng is that bad. You put that survivor on any cold wind map and they will run that killer until the game is over easily.
Map RNG, perks/add-ons, teammate competency, if pallets are still up… at the very least the killer can bloodlust that survivor down. And even if they’re on a map like Coldwind, that alone isn’t enough to guarantee your hypothetical Wraith can’t tunnel their object of obsession out.

Hon, the hatch is an in-game mechanic, and waiting to escape through it is a normal gameplay strategy. Because it is an in-game mechanic. But if you’re convinced survivors who wait for hatch are breaking a rule, let’s ask a dev in real time. :)
-
Waiting for hatch isn’t against the rules (I believe Mandy stated such a couple months back). Deliberating playing in a griefing or trolling way is. Survivors don’t have to complete gens to advance the trial. They can wait for hatch and play as selfishly as they want and that is perfectly fine. Peanits specifically said survivors can play for themselves if they want.
-
@SmolBlob said:
If a 10 hour player beats 10,000 hour players, those latter players are actually trolling.
I mean if you have that many hours but play solo queue you could very easily die/lose even if you play seriously. It’s happened to some amazing survivors several times on stream (Ayrun, Otz, Naymeti, etc). A 10 hour killer can tunnel and camp a 10,000 hour survivor and win over that survivor because survivors cannot win a 1v1 with killers.

Basically nerf survivors (no exhaustion perks, no OTR or BT) and buff killers (longer gens). Fixed it for you.
-
So the survivor META has mostly shifted as survivors are prioritizing Gen completion over chases. Because the time to complete gens was increased, the base power of Gen regression via kick was increased, and several Gen regression perks were buffed (tbh I think this meta is better than the ruin meta for killers b/c they can mess with Gen regression all match w/o worrying about a totem going down). And tunneling/camping are still strong (camping a survivor early game almost always guarantees a 3-4K depending on a few other factors, as survivors cannot finish 4 gens in the time it takes for a camped survivor to die) so survivors are going to run second chance perks to help themselves.

That’s often not the solution though, because Nurse spends so much time in fatigue after blinking, that if you try following a survivor using short blinks, you’ll actually end up being overall slower than if you were just trying to walk towards the survivor.
This means Nurse will end up spending a lot of time just walking around Lery’s, until the Nurse player can be absolutely sure which room the survivor ran into after they blocked line of sight.
And the Nurse rework made her extra worse on Lery’s, because the recharge addons got nerfed, and the remaining range addons are often useless against a survivor that is stacking line of sight blockers.
Good thing survivors leave scratch marks, blood pools, create notifications when performing rushed actions and are still loud enough when injured to detect. That should help too, along with your ability to literally teleport through objects.
-
I mean it’s a video game. It isn’t a hot new exclusive elite club in Hollywood. Players aren’t signing blood contracts to get into it. It’s a *game*. No one ‘agrees’ to do $#!% but play until they don’t want to play anymore. If you’re that upset with people expressing autonomy by making decisions you dislike in a video game, play with a SWF. If you’re queuing up as killer, who cares if they die early on hook? You still get credit for the kill, which is the most important thing to killers anyway. In the end survivors aren’t there for a killer’s entertainment just like killers aren’t there to be a plaything for survivors.

You can't look away since the only effective way to use flashlights is when the killer is animation-locked. And perks shouldn't be the only way to counter something which is an opinion the devs seem to share considering they made BT basekit(a change i agree with btw) and are now unironically considering making unbreakable basekit too
I still avoid flashlight blinds by looking away. If you mean there is a survivor positioned in a way to get me while in animation locked, that never happens because I have good situational awareness. I generally don’t pick up in a way that leaves me vulnerable to blinds b/c I can control that. There are loads of perks on both sides that counter something else. That’s sort of the point.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I do think they're a bit too forgiving now. You pretty much can't pick up if you don't have a wall to look at and someone is lurking. Used to be easy enough to create enough distance on the saver to give yourself a pick up window out in the open, but it's super risky now.
I'm really not sure why the save window needed to be changed. As with most things in DbD, players with terrible connections benefit. It's really annoying to be looking at the sky before I'm even blinded on my screen only to have attic wifi console Andy get the save anyway.
No, running noob perks like Lightborn or Franklin's aren't a solution to a bad mechanical change.
They changed the timing because they eliminated survivor’s ability to readjust fast enough to pull off a save when they removed macro clicks. Slowing the flashlights down (the clicking) made it virtually impossible to get off a save if your positioning and timing weren’t unreasonably exact. And mind you, latency/ping still affected this.

While I will agree that the requirements for safety pipping could stand to be adjusted, my suggestion would be using bronze safety pip values for bronze/silver and silver safety pip values for gold/iridescent, and adding a minimum saftey pip for when a DC occurs.
Persnally I dont think getting rid of depips altogether is the right idea. Currently the only punishment there is for the person who gets hooked first and suicides on hook is the depip.
Lets say you are in a killer match, I can often tell a few minutes in roughly how its going to go. Now if you know your going to lose (0k less than 4 hooks) and not pip or depip because the survivors are much better than you, what is the incentive to continue trying in the match? Sure there is BP but that is gonna be minimal anyways, If you are trying to pip up your best option is to get out of the match as fast as possible by not interacting with the survivors so they finish gens and you can get to the next game faster.
The same logic applies on the survivor side as well. All that removing the depip would do is increase AFKs and hook suicides by people trying to pip up especially as you get closer to rank reset.
If you’re found first, hooked and camped till death you still depip as survivor. Is that also reasonable to you?

Idk a SWF memeing doesn’t make a map survivor sided. And I’ve personally never struggled to reach hooks on Midwich. Maybe that’s a personal issue. I tend to perform really well on that small map with LOS of both exit gates, one god pallet and one good loop (that can be disrupted by breaking a door). idk DBD is the only asymm game I’ve seen with this issue. I’ve often wondered why people who queue as survivor are so inclined (more so it seems after patch 6.1) to quit a match in some way. What’s really interesting is that these players often play other asymm games and do not behave this way. It’s got me thinking there may be something about the survivor role experience in this game that encourages game quits.
