It’s because BH is giving survivors what they want. A mode that ensures killers function just as a dumb chasing npc so survivors can win every game and mock them. It’s the single most survivor mode ever created, that’s why queues are like this etc. Idk what they were thinking when they made those perks. At least is evident that killers won’t play if we keep going in this direction.
When do killer mains stop playing? Let me know so I can finally get into a game as killer without waiting 20 minutes.

Serious question. I played a match yesterday with Billy and Huntress. No one's cages were teleporting when they got close. It was hard to tell with the huntress but with Billy he kept reving the chainsaw up and going around me with no teleport. Is it possible that when Billy revs and goes there is no heartbeat and no teleport?
Was there a survivor nearby? It doesn’t matter if a killer has no TR, the cage should still move if they loiter near it. Wraith has no TR when cloaked and will still trigger it to move.

This would definitely lead to slugging for 8k :(
Can’t survivors pick themselves up if they’ve been caged once in 2v8?

I suspect with Boons and Invocations a line of thought was to give survivors a side quest that had some sort of reward. Obviously this worked better at least for boons when CoH was strong. It’s never really worked for invocations, and hasn’t worked for boons since CoH’s nerf. I guess the devs are just throwing stuff at the wall now hoping something sticks (Illumination, Treacherous Crows). I reckon when they do their whole buff weak perks thing they’ll see the pick rates for boons and invocations are super low and will either try to buff them or just abandon those concepts—the latter of which is what they should do. If you can’t give survivors good perks don’t give them perks at all. Put that R&D into something meaningful, like fixing the game.

This is exactly what I am seeing, Killers tunnelling out a few people. My friends and I both got it more often, it's not good. They really messed up this event by making Survivors get more powerful over a match and making them generally stronger overall. Survivors are overbuffed. And there's nothing to fix the gen speeds; it's really unfun to wait 20 minutes to get stomped.
I will try one more day, but I'm not having fun as Killer and I'm not having the greatest time as Surv either. If it doesn't improve I'm doing the tome and then saying goodbye to this mode.it seems to rely on killer (and survivor) skill. When they’re equally skilled there is parity and matches go back and forth until the end, when it’s anyone’s game. If survivors play around they will lose—against all killers. If killers don’t have good pressure they’re going to lose.
-
Still fairly long.
Devs need to boost the incentive back to 400% because waiting 10-15 minutes for a game is just unacceptable. I know they tried to make survivor more appealing this go around with the buffs (even though to be fair killers received buffs too) but it’s the bloodpoint bonus that’s going to help mitigate the long queue times.

I only played her yesterday and she's still plagued by sound issues and the hard counters with medic and scout are pretty effective against her. Some of the spirit mainers have already said she's horrible to play in 2v8.
The sound bug that affects her AoT skin?
-
@GlamourousLeviathan said:
Yeah, gen speeds are awful and everyone knows that. The system that they implemented makes going for fresh hook survivors a stupid decision. In this mode, as it is, the incentive structure is for you to aggressively tunnel survivors out for a better outcome.
Technically it’s better to go for recently hooked survivors because if there are survivors near them their cages won’t move. If you play as Hillbilly, Blight, Wraith, or Huntress you can really exploit this.

Spirit suffers in this mode quite a bit. Medic has ability to lose scratch marks and scout has built in iron will. Both counter her very well. So far i've not seen spirit perform as good as people think.
I haven’t played her to see but I did face a Spirit. She was with an AFK Nurse. Got a 1K. Probably would have been better if her teammate wasn’t dead weight.

I think they wanted to make it more appealing for people to queue as survivor so the wait times aren’t as bad. Even with the buffs it’s still a long wait to get in as killer though. And let’s also not forget killers were buffed as well.

Maybe a quick match button? That will queue for both roles?
That’s the regular way. MMR only waits a few seconds before it expands, and then every X seconds from then. The issue is that there aren’t enough people queueing as survivor and that’s not something quick match or MMR can fix. You need people queueing as survivor.
-
@TheWheelOfCheese said:
The only reason it's good is because of queue times. That's it. Encouraging more people to play survivor is a good thing.

This. As killer I wanna stretch the game out. The queue times for killer are too long to blow through a match.

Your point about the bonus is irrelevant. In my region it’s a 50% bonus for killers.
Do you mean for 2v8? Could you give us a screenshot? I have a hard time believing it’s that low for survivors in your region. Killer queues across regions seem really high.

Word to the wise: Just because a killer chases a survivor doesn't mean he gets them. That includes instadown killers, so there's nothing inherently strong SIMPLY about the fact that they instadown.
I know you aren’t saying that Hillbilly with instadown saw and Blight, the fastest characters in the game, are fine because they might mad dash a survivor but not catch them. That can’t be the defense you’re giving. Please tell me there’s more.

Mobility killers are the only one that work. Billy who can now insta-down and Blight can combo quite well because they can spread and regroup very quickly if needed.
Trapper and Deathslinger though are 90% chance loss as they can't really do much and are still extremely slow.
I don’t think the gens can really tamper more with gen speeds with Hillbilly, Blight, and Spirit in the game. They’re top-tier killers alone and together a force to be reckoned with.

Bruh. Survivors choose where to lead the killer during a chase, not the other way around. When a killer is forced to "choose" to play as an M1 killer (though it isn't really a choice, since there's no real counterplay), it effectively nullifies their power. This isn't a complex concept to understand.
The issue is even more pronounced on some maps than others. For instance, Springwood's Shack has a door that can be exploited using crouch tech, forcing the killer to handle the shack as an M1. Why is hug tech around the shack considered an exploit, but crouch tech at the shack gets a "just play around it" response?
Not fully accurate. Killers can (and should) “zone” survivors, which means they’re directing where the survivors go. Ideally you’re pushing them to dead zones or weak tiles.
Anyway how come when I crouch tech I still get hit.

Oh no, game mode with no mmr didn't break 50/50 in game, which balanced around 40/60, sheeeesh, real tragedy.
If you so obsessed with stats, and see literally nothing behind numbers, surely we should buff Nurse and nerf Freddy, right? The 60/40 split for normal queue is irrelevant. A thing cannot be survivor-sided with survivors losing more. Both Nurse and Nightmare have kill rates over 50%. You really thought you did something there.
-
@fussy said:
I mean, last time it was survivor sided, but with no mmr it was pure chaos, so on average it felt kinda balanced. And even with this, I didn't escape that much in 1v4 EVER, even with half of survivors do nothing but throwing, almost every game someone made it to gates. I barely saw killers stomped matches, unlike in 1v4.
And with these insane buffs it will be only better, so I don't know about all these "miserable to play" and why there is so much need to play victims no matter what, survivors will be more than fine, it's not even a question. I definately will play more survivors, than killers in 2v8.So survivor sided none of the survivor classes—not one—could even break even (50/50) with killers. The killer win rate was still higher in 2v8 than the survivor win rate.
-
Just play survivor. That’ll alleviate long queue times for other killer players at least, and if enough people do it eventually you might also get a chance to play killer in a reasonable amount of time.
I’ve gotta say I find it interesting how 2v8 identifies just how unpopular the survivor role is. When given the option people seem to prefer playing as killer—in both queues. Wonder why that is.

As much as I dislike Tru3, calling him a slightly above killer main really doesn't help your point all too much. He might not be as good as he thinks he is, but he certainly is a good killer player.
Tru3 cheeses wins largelt by camping and tunneling, and I mean those strategies are readily available to any killer but I wouldn’t consider him a technically good killer main like say an Otzdarva or SpookyLoopz or Hens. Even some survivor mains who play killer are better than Tru3. He isn’t bad, but he isn’t amazingly skilled either.

It's a good question.
The data from BHVR says each survivor has a 40% chance of escaping on average, no in-game condition attached.
On the web app, I draw the actual mean escape rate of the survivors (in blue). It converges close to the chosen rate.
The way I see it, the reason survivors have escaped isn't really relevant, only that they have escaped at a rate close to that specified value. And of course the main information is the deduced killer win rate for said value.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3836612#Comment_3836612
I've given the program so people could play with it "refuse to share the value". Conspiracy theorist much?
The draws are irrelevant as they mean that both teams have got a null.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3836626#Comment_3836626
"proven wrong" then proceeds speaking about something I've specifically said was irrelevant.
I don't believe you understand what this is about.
@Saiph isn’t being conspiratorial. It is incredibly suspicious you omitted key information and as a layperson yes the information you withheld completely changes the veracity of your argument. If I hadn’t read Saiph, @ratcoffee @AmpersandUnderscore and @zarr ‘s comments I wouldn’t have considered that by your model survivors only win 18% of their matches. It absolutely seems to me, as a layperson who knows nothing about statistical modeling, that you were implying survivors win as often as killers do when that’s not even close to being true here. I believe you should add some sort of caveat to your initial post so people aren’t deceived.
Kudos to those I’ve tagged for taking the time to provide that extra information breakdown. It made a difference for me.

Hehe, VERY different from mine. I think the two most fun we have are Freddy and Myers.
To play against, of course. If we're talking about playing killer, then I like Freddy and Knight.
I dislike facing Knight and personally would rather face a Xeno or a Cenobite. Knight frustrates me by creating 2v1 situations. Xeno and Cenobite games absolutely have some woes but the Knight is just worse for me. I don’t mind Krueger.

I'm not concerned about TTVs - most of the distinctly unfun or outright griefer killers I play against are not content creators, just regular jerks. The correlation between TTV/YT and toxicity is not nearly as high as people think it is, in either direction.
But I'm torn on the actual suggestion. I do kinda want it. More than that, I wish we could chat with all players pre-match… though I suspect BHVR doesn't want that and wants to discourage killer-survivor collaboration if at all possible (a la "hey guys I'm trying to get this achievement, help me out and I'll do whatever you want.")
Showing the killer's name results in the same possibility of messaging the killer pre or mid match, for good or ill. But more importantly, I'm certain this would lead to a lot of profile inspection and dodging over -reps and other complaint litter that people get. If your lobby's killer has 40 pages of -rep hard tunneled and -rep camping bubba, do you really want to load into that match? Even if you're a god looper and you don't feel threatened, the chance one of your teammates comes face to face with a killer playing hardball and either messes up and dooms the match or just ragequits is pretty high.
Killer anonymity does serve a purpose. People already dodge teammates over perceptions of 'this player doesn't have enough hours', now imagine how they'd react to a 5000 hour killer. I think this would make private profiles all but mandatory.
I think as long as killers can lobby shop by checking profiles from the lobby, survivors should have the same privilege in some way. If it leads to more dodging then lobbies should be made blind—for all parties.
-
I could be wrong but I thought MMR was disabled for events and special game modes.
-
The devs themselves say the game is killer-sided and that is how they currently want it. It pretty much starts and end there.

Isn’t this a killer people said was so underpowered when the bug that gave the tail attack 0 cooldown was fixed?
Honestly, I do not know. Don't think I was around here for that.
It’s a very strong anti-loop killer but the way you’re supposed to combat that is with turrets. Set them up in a way that basically gives you a head start in chase. You don’t want it in crawler mode (all fours) although the cooldown for that is super short anyway.
But what are you supposed to do if he finds you with Lethal Pursuer before you can set a turret? Or if the turrets are around gens (which they usually are), and you weren't close to a gen?
And when he recovers crawler mode, what do you do?
If you are found before you have a chance to set up turrets your main concern is the crawler mode. The only way to disrupt the tail attack in that case is by a pallet stun (obviously risky) or keeping it blocked in some way by line of sight blockers/objects it cannot hit over. The tail’s hit box is kind of strange because after it strikes you can still be hit when the tail is being pulled back, so watch for that. The creature does slow down to use the tail attack as well. Your counterplay mostly comes down to reactive timing and map/environmental protection.

Use pallets, flashlights are difficult to use against it in crawler mode.
It can hit over objects and loops just like Nemesis but is somehow better at this than Nemesis, so any ranged hits he can do Xenomorph can do better. Beyond that try to keep line of sight broken so it struggles to land the tail hits.

I think the castle is a nice touch, but I wish we could actually go there. It would have been an interesting map, for sure.
People complained about the fog effect influencing performance and making it difficult to find survivors. It was probably easier for BHVR to just get rid of the atmospheric effects altogether than try to balance them or upgrade them for performance issues.

I really can’t understand posts like this. Why should we be expected to consider the experience of the opposing team in a PvP game? In 1v1 games or team matches with equal numbers, I've never seen anyone ask their opponents to go easy on them. If we were actually meant to achieve a balanced 12-hook game, BHVR would have implemented such a system by now. Tunneling, slugging, and fast generator completion are not wrong ways to play. Just because someone finds it unpleasant doesn’t mean they should criticize others for making choices within the rules or push their own rulebook onto others.
I think people resort to asking players to consider the fun of their opponents because BHVR’s devs have an awful track record with giving a ######### about either side (at different points in DbD’s history) enjoying their game. At day’s end, it is up to a game’s developers to ensure that parity and an opportunity for enjoyment exists for all players.

Yes, and that's regrettable. But it's difficult to filter that kind of data.
Many have advocated to disable that option. I'm almost convinced it would be the right move even if the next step would be sore losers running to the killer instead.
It can’t be that difficult. They told us flat out what it was with SM in a forum comment. They clearly have the means to parse data and do parse data regarding deaths on first hook (not always indicative of throwing by the way; three survivors could be slugged and one hooked who cycles through all hook stages without being rescued… on first hook) as they’ve shown us.
-
@MrMori said:
I don't think those three are very good examples. Being healed off hook with adrenaline was silly and not fair to the killer, punishing them for picking up and hooking and rewarding them for waiting over downed survivors as gens pop to smack them and deny adren. It was bad game design. It also went from 5 seconds to 3 seconds but I think that's fine, it's still a very stong and top tier perk.
Boil Over got its wiggle strength and aura blocking range buffed, but also had a crazy wiggle progress bonus to drops added. That turned out to be too strong so they toned the wiggle bonus down to be based on current progress instead and now the perk is still better than it was before the changes.
And Distortion well I'll admit there's a ton of aura reading on killer, but Distortion is totally usable. The only difference is if you never take chase you can't hide forever. In fact, Distortion right now is actually even better as a perk to deny the killer aura reading in chase since you'll be regaining tokens during the chase. I like the rework, it incentivizes Distortion users to take chase instead of just hiding, while still helping their stealth outside of chase.
Also, you're glossing over lots of really nice buffs that survivor perks have gotten. Look at the last update! Blood Rush, Lucky Star, Inner Focus, Quick Gambit, Poised, all perks that were extremely low usage rate and overall pretty terrible are now sort of decent. I personally think the devs are doing a pretty good job balancing the game. Although soloq is pretty miserable right now.
Each of those ‘buffed’ perks you listed still have low usage. I guess survivor players are too stupid to understand what good perks really are though, huh? After all survivor players keep sticking to the same 6-8 perks that have been meta for the last 5 years despite BHVR ‘buffing’ low-quality perks like Calm Spirit and Pharmacy.

I never said buffs, although that's also true. This isn't 2020 anymore where nurses calling, I'm all ears, and BBQ are the only aura perks that exist.
When BBQ was meta you used to have a base kit counter to the meta aura perk because you could hop in a locker when the killer picked up. It was like a base kit distortion that survivors could use.
That doesn't exist any more, because the telegraph is simply non existent for most of these perks.
Lethal was buffed to increase the power level of all aura perks.
There have been an absolute ton of new aura perks added to the game over time. Killers can get aura reads from kicking gens, breaking pallets, a survivor being near a dropped pallet, opening a locker, unhooks, and I'm likely missing a ton more. That doesn't include add-ons or add-on reworks
Oh, and most recently the survivor just having an item.
That's power creep. So when you say "what do you mean?" That sounds really tone deaf.
Also opening chests, hiding in lockers, standing near lockers, working on gens alone or together, standing near gens, healing themselves or other survivors, not healing themselves, triggering crows, standing near totems, and probably pretty much every other thing a survivor can do in this game has a killer perk or add-on that can reveal their aura for doing it.

Midwich consistently has the highest KR of any map (maybe this has changed since the Haddonfield and Coldwind reworks). It’s very killer-sided. RPG always spawns a three-gen. It’s slightly killer-sided for that reason but I think closer to balanced that midwich. Neither map leans survivor though.

Haven’t the devs said on a livestream or something that they intend to sell alternate mori animations? I would think this has driven the decision to push the finisher mori forward. With so many cheaters getting away with it and not being banned I don't think my 2 seconds of "oops im in your way" would be liable tbh. As it was a matter of like 2 seconds and easily could be dismissed as an accident (lots of survivors get in the way during a chase). I would be more liable for helping the killer tbh but if BHVR want to ban me for it then I would happily take the ban and move on as if they ban for that then it wouldn't be a game I would want to participate in playing with.
I get what you’re saying but a friend of mine basically tried something like that with a cheater and got suspended himself because he filmed himself blocking the cheater in a room. Just know that depending on who sees the footage you share, you could be penalized for violating a rule as well. I guess it’s like two wrongs don’t make a right.

They can’t change him without changing the add-ons and his iridescents do more than just allow for a mori: they allow him to bypass hooks altogether, a la original moris.
