Easy, Hold W until you see a survivor, Press M1, then again.
But if the killer is forcing people off gens while someone is hooked, the killer isn't camping.

They can't do gens If the Killer go and stop them from doing gens.
How can the killer stop the 3 other survivors from doing 3 gens, and half of the other 2 before the survivor dies on hook if the killer is camping?
-
The game 100% has balance issues. A good killer player can't compete vs 4 good survivors if the killer player is on a low tier killer. The balance issues are also more than that. The ranks are not balanced. We have actual good survivors at red ranks being paired with low skill survivors at red ranks. Why can a low skill player achieve what a good player can in ranks? Why are lower skilled killers in red ranks also? If the game had a ranking system that went off of actual skill, good killers would only face good survivors. This would then make it so the majority of good killers would mostly play meta killers only. Currently, you can be a good killer and play Wraith and 4k at red ranks a lot because most survivors don't play survivor optimally. I could keep going on and on about all the balance issues, but yeah. This game 100% has balance issues that affect how fair the game is.
-
I play Claudette and I am pretty good at survivor. Decent and good Claud mains are out here. We are just VERY rare.
-
I usually only watch people that play both sides, and that are good at the game. Most good non bias players don't whine about most of the stuff killers do, because they understand why the killer does them. The complaining I usually hear from streamers playing survivor is about their teammates doing dumb stuff. They probably complain about much more, but I don't see that because I usually avoid 100% only survivor main streamers because most of them play SWF on coms, which is 100% boring to watch for me.
-
It's definitely a strong perk. Most of the time the survivors I go against get no value from it because I bait it out. When a good runner has it, it can make the chase harder, but it isn't OP.

Don't you see something wrong with that though??
I am not a good killer...average at best but i always get a 4k.
I am a good survivor (you don't have to believe me), but i lose the majority of my games.
I kid you not i have seen in red rank
- Survivor gets hooked
- Survivor clearly being camped & tunnelled by the killer but getting unhooked by team mates without BT & then not even taking a hit for him/her
- Survivor dies and killer repeats the exact damn thing with a 2nd survivor
Maybe this will be solved with MMR and there is also a desperate need for voice chat so survivors can co-ordinate.
Doesn't really make sense that on one end you have a fully co-ordinated 4 man SWF making killers cry and on the other end the exact opposite. Balance pleaseeeeeeeeeeee
So it is bad that the killer can 4k a lot if the survivors are not playing well? Is it also bad that a good 4 man SWF can get escape rates into the high 90's percentage wise?

I have started playing killer.
Finding so far:
- 4k in 95% of my games (currently in purple rank, i have zero doubts ill be in red rank soon)
- Don't enjoy playing killer as much cause they do have to be focused throughout the game
- It's too unfair for survivors....it just is. Way too easy to force altruism when you think the game is going downhill.
- I don't touch red add-ons because the game might as well be over the second it starts, purple and green also quite OP.
The only reason you 4k 95% of the time is because most players can't play survivor well. How is this the killer being OP and not on the survivors not improving and playing better? Why do actual decent survivor players have no issue usually outside of dealing with low skilled teammates as a solo? You wouldn't 4k 95% of the time if you went vs even a decent team every game. Vs truly good teams, you will struggle to even get a 1k most of the time on the majority of the killers. Literally, to make sure you have a chance vs the rare good or decent swf, people play nothing but meta killers while using meta perks. On survivor, even as solo, I can always use off meta things and still do well on a personal level. On killer, you can't do that.
-
Well, you think Ghost Face leans toward being OP, so yeah. I'm not shocked you have this opinion.

Sure the devs have petabytes of game data over 5 years. Sure the number of trials 0,1,2,3,4 survivors, survived, as well as how, all gens, open exit, find hatch, exit unlocked automatically.... would be very telling and they certainly have access to such data. Don’t see many games unless it’s a BaD killer or a thrower killer that all 4 waltz out of the exit. See quite a few games the killer systematically mows down even decent survivors often with 2 or more generations remain. I am a baaad killer and I can still consistently down at least 2 survivors with ease using a 1 perk trapper. One of the more op leaning killers like Ghost perked up. Forget about it. Gonna be slug central.
The only reason people get kills on 99% of the killers is due to survivors making mistakes and playing bad. All the data in the world can't change the fact that people play survivor at different skill levels, and have different outcomes with the game. You really think data that puts a good survivor that can loop every tile on the same level as someone that goes down in 5 secs should be seen as accurate? Also, Ghost Face does not learn toward being OP.
-
Well it might be an issue, but the one thing keeping it from being as big of an issue is getting nerfed, so yeah.

The problem is all the killer mains will now show up and try to rebut. Many threads crying killers are weak which is pure comedy gold.
No, the problem is that people don't really understand how to play survivor well, so they complain about things good players know aren't true. Then people that are informed comment, and then they are automatically labeled as bias killer mains.

Honestly i have no clue why survivor queues are long.
For me it only started happening recently, even though i have pretty much always been in red rank so i don't know what has changed recently.
I agree with you that red rank doesn't necessarily mean you are good at the game.
Frankly my statement in the post was click bait...what am really after is cold hard analytics so all of us players can know if the game is balanced or not. From my experience i don't think it is and i believe the stats will back me.
What does info do when the stats are pretty much messed up? A lot of people only get kills on killer due to the survivors playing bad. This game's balance has forever 100% relied on people not being good, or understanding the game on survivor side well. Just look at the video linked below. Imagine getting caught when the game was like this. The best part is that people did get caught often actually. Because a lot of people just didn't, and still don't understand how to play survivor well to this day.
-
The funniest thing is, this killer might've honestly been bad, and the survivors were just not that good. This is a huge issue DBD has. The ranks, more often than not, are not an indication of skill, but time played. The ranks give a false sense that you might've been cheated and been put with a good killer just due to their ranking being different.
-
If the game is so killer sided, why are queues for solo survivor so long? Also, don't forget how long it takes for a 4 man SWF to find a killer. Most players just don't understand how to play survivor well. This is what makes the game seem killer sided. I personally only have an issue with Spirit, and I'm a solo survivor player. Every other killer is fairly easy to deal with, barring an actual good Nurse, which can even still be fun to run at times. Also, being red rank means nothing. People that can't even loop shack get rank 1 due to the game not requiring you to actually improve skill wise to rank up. All you have to do to hit rank 1 is play often, and do enough to safety pip so you never lose pips, which is super easy to do.
-
You just have to accept that the devs do what they want, and what they think is best for the game. If you have been playing a few years, you should be used to this and not surprised at all. Survivor in the hands of a competent player has been the power role the whole time I have been playing, which is since the new year event at the beginning of 2018. Despite them being the power role when a good player plays survivor, they are allowed to have way better, and many more meta perks than killer. They balance for rank 15 players, and in the hands of a rank 15 skilled player, survivor is weak compared to most rank 15 killers.
-
This is normal, and has been for a long time. The same happens to survivors. I have been rank 1 killer and faced rank 15 survivors. Hopefully the new MMR will put players vs players that are similar skilled.

I understand fine.
I also deeply understand Clown. He’s way misunderstood, and used very poorly by many I see play him. Hence why he isn’t played often at high ranks.
I feel sorry for anybody that thinks developing the skills necessary is impossible to be extremely good with a killer without meta perks.
You could be the best Clown player in the word for all I know. That doesn't change the fact that he is weak and only excels the majority of the time because most DBD players, even at rank 1, are not good. Most can't loop, most don't focus gens. Most run in to save in the killers face, which then contributes to snowball and so on. You playing Clown, especially without meta perks vs 4 actual good survivors, is going to result in you most likely struggling that match. This is just the truth sadly. I actually wish Clown was a viable killer vs actual good survivors.
-
I mean, if you truly understood DBD at a high level you would know that truly good survivors stomp on Clown, especially a Clown with no meta perks. You would also know why DS is an issue. There is a reason why Clown is NEVER played in any "competitive" DBD tournament. It's because he is a joke vs any competent survivor team.
-
The only reason you hold you own at red ranks is because most DBD players, on survivor and killer, are not good. You can 4k 8/10 games at red ranks with low tier killers easily due to this. DS is an issue due to how offensive it allows survivors to be. Good or even decent survivors know how to abuse it to be more than an anti-tunnel perk.
-
#1, red ranks mean nothing. We have people at red ranks that can't even run shack. #2, Bubba is b tier at best. He gets stomped on by competent players fairly easily. Even as a competent solo player, I have no issue with him on a personal skill level. The only time I die to a Bubba is if I make a mistake, or if my teammates get stomped on by him.

Been there.. Done that.. You guys will just find another reason to complain about it.
I mean DS in its current form is better than the 1.4.0 version. No more 35% wiggle required for non obsession. No more dribbling survivors to hooks also. It is funny how the perk has been changed so much, but is still complained about. I wonder why? Maybe it's because the current version is still not fine, just like the other versions. At least now, in theory it is anti-tunnel perk. But in reality, I could hook you, go find another survivor, you then get unhooked. I then down the other survivor and hook them. Then I can come back to you, down you and get hit by DS if you go down fast because I play better, or because you let yourself go down so I can pick you up. Then you get away. People also just sit injured on gens with DS because they know the killer will get hit with DS. Then combine it with UB. Either way, you are gonna get away, even if I slug. Because I ain't waiting 60 seconds, or even 30 secs for the DS timer. That is time gens are getting worked on. That is time I can't afford to lose. The survivor wins in all scenarios. It's little risk and BIG reward for the survivor, always.
-
A non bias DBD player is hard to find. Usually it is only the good players, or players that realize how the game truly is that are not bias or hypocrites. Sure survivor can be terrible, I only play solo when I play survivor, I know. But that doesn't mean the game is killer sided. Honestly, my teammates cause their own deaths more than the killers do. I also know that killer vs decent survivors is a horrible experience on non meta killers, and even with meta killers, good survivors can be a pain to beat.
A lot of people only play one side. They play survivor only, they complain about things only survivors complain about. The same can be said about killer. If more people took the time to learn to improve, and play both sides, people would be more reasonable.
-
Undying and Ruin is just too strong vs average solo players in its current state. Now, with that said, I do feel like BHVR is always quick to fix things survivors have issues with over killers. The main thing is they nerf gen regression things, but they don't try to fix the issue that is causing people to run gen regression perks the most of out any other killer perks. The gens just get done to fast vs decent survivors. If you play nice and "fair", the 5th gen can pop by the time you get your third hook vs decent survivors quite often. This is why people slug, tunnel, and force second stage and kills via proxy camping. If gens were to go slower, it would benefit survivors as well. Killers wouldn't feel the need to slug and do all the other things survivors don't like.
-
Sorry to hear you are not enjoying your time back. On DBD, if you want to play killer, you have to grow some thick skin tbh. I wish people would be kinder to others, but humans will be humans after all.
-
You can't reason with people that can't comprehend that OoO is a broken perk. They think just because not every game is vs a sweatlord SWF, that the perk is fine. Don't waste your energy. A large portion of the community doesn't care that some things in the game are broken in the hands of good players as long as it is fine in the hands of average players.

A fair share of the people playing DBD are sore losers that can't accept that they need to improve. A lot of them DC due to their own mistakes. They get caught super quick, or early and think the game is over. So they just DC or give up on hook. Playing solo survivor is just not worth it at this point. Too many people DC and give up on hook.
-
If they were going to increase the usable perk slots, it should only be for killer. Trials are already 16 perks vs 4 perks. In all honesty it is quite odd to me that killer has the same amount of perk slots as survivor.
-
Well they are just being honest. Most players can't accept that survivor is the true power role when played at high level in SWF because most players can't play at a high level. Tru3 is pretty spot on most of the time. SWF is an issue when the survivors are competent. The only people that don't realize this are people that hardly or never play killer, and super bias survivor mains. Any decent player that plays both sides knows this and most of them agree with Tru3 and anyone else that says the same because it is the truth.
-
Rather than going into each thing that is unbalanced, because there is a lot of things tbh, I will say that DBD has balance issues because the game is not balanced, or designed around high skill level play. If you play the game at a decent level on both sides and can understand the game on a higher level, like maximizing loop potential and things like that, it is easy to see the issues without being bias. To me the game feels like it is balanced around average people. I consider average players to be people that can't loop, and killers that will tunnel people all game. Once people start playing above average skill, especially on survivor, the balance issues start to show.
-
Why feel bad? They have had 4 years to improve this game much more than they have. Usually people complain about pretty valid issues and the criticism is valid as well. I will agree that some people do go overboard with nonsense though.
-
Because they know people will dodge. SWF is the most unbalanced thing in the game. It gives way too much of an advantage. You get to pick your teammates skill level, you get constant info over coms for free. You get to coordinated things like last second saves to maximize time on gens, body blocking is much easier and so on. If SWF wasn't an issue there wouldn't be so much complaining about it. When decent players play SWF it is too strong, but this is usually met with "well not all SWF are good and some are just people that want to play with their friends". While this is true, you have to remember this is a PVP game. Usually PVP games are balanced around what is possible at the top level. When things are not, you get balance issues like we have with DBD.

Its trying to on purpose do this to your teams. It wants to give an average mmr to work on you. So if two people are at 500 and 2 are at 100 and the killer is at 300, thats a "balanced game" in regards to MMR. Its working as intended and people need to stop complaining and just practice and get better.
So people just need to suck it up and play with lower skilled teammates? Please. How is that balanced? How is that an issue of people just needing to practice and get better? No one wants to play with lower skilled teammates. The whole point of mmr is to put people close in skill together.

I rarely run into toxic sweat squads, guess I'm lucky
Well I never said they were toxic. Just because people are good at the game doesn't mean they are toxic.
-
Kinda. I watch people play more on Twitch than I play the game myself nowadays. I also talk about the game on various forums more than I play. I get on to play a few games every now and then, but I don't play nearly as much as I once did. I play solo survivor and killer when I do play. It gets old dealing with random teammates that don't play well as a solo survivor. Then you hop on killer just to wait 5 minutes for a match for it to just be vs an optimal SWF team that makes you say to yourself, "What the heck. Why can't I get these types of players on my team as a solo?".
-
I don't care much about anything cosmetic. I don't pay for the Rift, and I rarely buy skins.
-
I think a movement speed increase in cloak would be a decent buff, but the bell thing is a no for me. He does lack map pressure without Windstorm, and it sucks that you need to use an add-on to get some map pressure. Overall he is a decent killer atm vs most players. He could use a movement speed buff during cloak, but he doesn't 100% need it.
-
In all honesty, the only thing that really needed changed was insta saw, and turning to a lesser degree. Why can't you just be happy they did that and more? Billy is not super strong vs good survivors. I have no issue looping a Billy, even before the rework. Only truly good Billy players even have a chance to curve around some loops. Most Billy players are not on that level. Why can't people just improve on their looping skills? Why does the killer need to be changed more?

It still works, multiple people have posted screenshots today and I've had 3 teammates this week tell me correctly who the killer was pre-game. I run solo survivor so I don't change anything but it ruins the surprise. I asked multiple times this morning why they locked killers before patching that program out and @Peanits and @Almo ignored that question despite being in the thread all morning.
Dang. Thanks for the head up.

Actually I might be wrong. I'm weary of trying it, so I'll just go on the assumption it doesn't work anymore.

I don't know the law surrounding C&Ds, would they even "work" for stuff like this? Especially since you could do the same thing with the built-in Windows Notepad if you knew how to do it. I'm sure there's configurable "generic" text-file searching programs and scripts out there that aren't made with DBD in mind as well if you want to automate the process. Seems like the sort of issue where the only way to stop it is to make it impossible to do in the first place.
But either way it shouldn't be a problem anymore as the log file is encrypted now.
According to the github the killer identification in the lobby still works.
-
It has been over a month. Any chance I could get some answer from a dev or community manager? With this new system where we can't switch killers in lobby there is no way to counter this if it hasn't been addressed yet.
-
Yes SWF can cause balance issues. Yes solo survivor sucks because some killers play like every group is a SWF. Yes solo sucks because the majority of survivors are actually low skill and can't contribute to the escape. In the end, solo play, which is solo survivor and killer, can be a terrible experience.
-
If the game were truly meant to be balanced around 2 kills and 2 escape the pip requirements and the outcome of matches vs good survivors would correlate, and they don't. At red ranks a 2k is usually a black pip. Vs good survivors, you are lucky to get a 1k on the majority of the killer roster. Even if you are a good killer.
-
Survivor does take skill to be effective with. Have you not seen the amount of survivor players that can't loop? If you haven't, please go play some solo. Even in red ranks the majority of survivors can't loop. With that said, killer does have to learn a lot more considering each one has different powers.
-
You guys can do this, but can't change DS to deactivate once another survivor is hooked lol.
-
Most of the issues come from the main mentality imo. A fair amount of the players stick to one role. They don't take into account what each role deals with. Killer can deal with good SWF teams, bad map rng etc. Survivors can deal with tunneling, face camping , lower skilled/new teammates as solo. If more people took the time to play each side, I think a decent amount of the toxic behavior would stop. I see a lot of killer mains that act like every SWF, or team they face are good tryhard players. Some survivors also feel a personal way when you decide to force a kill, or tunnel someone for pressure. I can say that in my 15 years of PC gaming, DBD is by far the worst community I have been a part of in regard to toxic chat and attitudes.
-
It already takes someone 2 minutes to die on first hook if they get face camped. Your team can do 3 gens in 80 seconds each. The other two can be half way done by the time the person dies if people just focus gens and let the camped person hang. More than likely once the person dies the 4th gen is almost ready to pop. So for face camping a person that won't wiggle and will struggle, the killer pretty much loses the match. How is that not a fair trade? It ain't the killers fault if the team doesn't focus gens. I have seen plenty of teams give face campers more than 1 killer when I have played solo survivor. It also isn't the killers fault if the person decides to wiggle and just die.
-
You messed up when you decided to show some kindness. Most survivor players have double standards, and will not show kindness in return. In my almost 1k hours played, I have probably had myabe 5 survivors give me pitty kills. I have given free escapes way more than 5 times. I am way past the point of being a chill killer. I play the killer to try to kill all 4 if possible now. If they are easy to kill, that is their issue. If there is an event going on requiring them to escape, that is their problem.
