  • Just patrolling Generators and not going for a single chase without any desire to try to kill the Survivors is holding the game hostage, yes. Killers cannot just wander around, not participating in any gameplay aside from protecting generators and wait for the game to close after 1 hours. (And I know someone will disagree on that, but there are forum posts of moderators saying that it is not allowed to play this way, so please search for them)

However, slugging is not holding the game hostage. It is not fun or anything to stay on the ground for four minutes, but you will die eventually, so it is not considered holding the game hostage.

  • The Killer is already winning when they start to actually kill Survivors. Why do you want even more reward at this point?

  • Nah, it is working. It is just useless.

  • Many fancy words for Server Crashes which are exactly this - Server Crashes. And not some people who disconnect you.

  • Yep, they are super rare. To get one on Thalita I had to do 40 Bloodwebs.

The game crashing the second you hook the last survivor? And it happening to multiple people? If it’s not a cheater I’ll just go buy my lottery ticket. Seriously though, the probably found a way to overload the server and make the game crash

Well, then get your ticket. Might be your lucky day.

  • I dont think anyone ever said that she is a mobility Killer. She does not even come close to Killers like Blight or Billy who can traverse the Map with ease.

However, the raw speed is not the thing here. The thing are obstacles. Every Killer needs to either walk around them OR break them (in case of Breakable Walls or Pallets). Nurse does not need either of those. And if you dont need to play DBD in order to get Hits, you will have the best ability in the game.

  • Man, you people really need to stop suspecting cheaters all the time. Servers crashing is quite common since 7.3.0 dropped and BHVR 100% needs to fix this ASAP. (or at the very least, disable the DC-Penalty for the time being)

But this does not mean that you face cheaters all the time who do this.

Funny enough... idc if you're a p100 or not. it's down to a "Are you a Two Tap or Not" while chasing...

i already got a p100 David and a p100 Clown... Prestiege don't mean skill.. Just means you put an Effort into said Character,

Just annoying i can't see Prestieges since 90% of the time i already verse people that ain't up to par on surv,

"Just annoying i can't see Prestieges since 90% of the time i already verse people that ain't up to par on surv,"

But... This would make Prestige even less useful. You said yourself that Prestige does not mean Skill, but it reads like you would assume that a Survivor with a low prestige Level might not be good, yet you dont know if they are not P100 on another Survivor.

  • Oh, several things:

    • I did not know about lunging for quite some time
    • I thought that Exposed means that my Aura is visible to the Killer (I was almost always injured when NOED was active, so I did not really realize that it means an Instadown)
    • I thought you run slower when injured, so I healed Teammates despite NOED active
    • Did not know that rushed actions give a notification bubble to the Killer
  • Dedicated Servers crashing is a somewhat common thing since the latest patch.

But yes, you must be facing Hackers who dont want to let you win. /s

  • As long as you can be the most dogshit Killer player in the world and still getting one Survivor downed 99% of the time, your thread is pointless.

(Not saying that the most dogshit Killer player in the world would actually win the game, but they will get a down eventually. Which is the whole point of this thread)

So when I run a killer for 5 gens is it a skill issue on them for overcommitting or some excuse like perks or pallets?

Nope, it was because of.. *looks at the top page of the Forum*... MFT. (I might have to edit this once the Perk is nerfed, because there will be a new thing why Killers who lost games before MFT, during MFT and after MFT are still losing games...)

  • @TheSubstitute said:

Good luck; I'm too introverted with too whacky of a schedule to do that but I think it's the better way to go.

Honestly, being introverted does not even have to be such an issue for this. You dont have to be on Comms, not every SWF is on Comms. And the main reason people play with people they know instead of randoms is because those people are more reliable.

You dont need Comms if the others know what they are doing. So you wont have that Meg who throws down every Pallet instantly. Or the Claudette who uses Self Care in the corner of the Map against a Sloppy Butcher-Legion. Or that Bill who throws a tantrum and suicides on Hook because he went down first.

Just knowing that your team will do Gens when you are getting chased is already good. Even without communication.

It also counter Bond, Kindred, Alert and more. And Bond is also a very common perk for solo survivors, that killers just tell us we have to run if we wanna know where our teammates are.

This is just a cope from killer mains. they really know what they have in hand. If they cannot take full advantage of it is cause they're either playing a killer that doesn't benefit that greatly from it, or don't know how to use it as effectively as possible. This is an insane perk that people refuse to catch on cause they're so comfy running 3-4 slowdowns, when this perk synergizes incredibly well with certain gen perks as well as helps you get more value out of it. It also saves you time you would have wasted if you had to find survivors the traditional way.

It outclasses most aura perks, lasts all game, is multi purpose cause it can interrupt survivors and adds blindness and only takes up one perk slot. Convince me this perk is not overtuned.

Before its release we considered LP strong despite this perk de-activating the rest of the game and requiring you to bring at least one more aura perk, now you can simply bring UW get use LP without having to deal with Distortion and also only waste one perk slot and not bring more aura perks (that could also be countered by distortion).

Yeah, I only mentioned WoO because it is the most popular Perk right now. And if roughly every third Survivor is using WoO, Blindness should not be overlooked. It is not strong by any means, but it is a Bonus to an already strong Perk. If they would remove the Blindness, it would not be much weaker, because the main part still remains.

Also when it comes to Aura Read-Perks - I usually run Lethal Pursuer and another Aura Perk and I was a fan of Lethal Pursuer even before its Buff. But on some Killers I dropped the second Aura Read-Perk for Ultimate Weapon, which is better. And if I consider dropping Lethal Pursuer, I can probably equip one more Slowdown-Perk... And I dont really like the direction that two Perks get replaced by one Perk and a Slowdown-Perk because that one Perk is doing a better Job than two Perks.

Yeah my problem is the entering the terror radius during the 30 seconds makes it such a pain especially for solo Q as it takes away aura reading perks such as bond, empathy and kindred and Windows which is also used by some SWF. Having to use a perk slot just to prevent one perk is a pain. Distortion counters a bunch of different perks, Lethal Pursuer, Barbacue, Nurse's etc. The terror radius can also be increased by distressing I think the perk is called. If they get rid of the thirty seconds or at least lower it to 5. Then it would be fine or if you hide in a locker your safe even if it's just from the scream.

The thing is - Calm Spirit being used just shows how strong Ultimate Weapon is. Because the Perk is very, very niche and its rise means that there is a really strong Perk around which people want to counter.

And IMO Calm Spirit is not really a healthy Perk. Because making Side Objectives take longer does not really benefit the Killer, it will just make Survivors less inclined to do said Side Objectives. E.g. a Survivor who usually opened Chests or cleansed Dull Totems will not do so with Calm Spirit, so they spend more time on a Gen. Which makes it worse for the Killer. (Sure, there will be people who cleanse Totems and open Chests even with the Debuff from Calm Spirit, but still... Not a good thing to make side objectives take longer)

  • Both sides are acting as if they demand something if Endgame is reached.

Survivors should stop thinking that because they got 5 Gens done that everyone escapes. So they should stop throwing themselves against a camping Killer which would probably just result in at least one more person dying. Meanwhile, the Survivor on the Hook should not expect the others to die for them.

Killers should stop thinking that because in Endgame all they can do is camp that they deserve their pity Kill. You had enough time to kill someone before 5 Gens were done, you failed, so accept it. You dont deserve an extra Kill or the deactivation of everything so that you can get your pity Kill.

    And of course, my favorite:

Both sides are unable to reflect their own mistakes. They claim everything but themselves for their loss, but they are unable to just think for a bit if they did a mistake. Because it is very unlikely that everyone plays perfect all the time, there will always be mistakes which lead to the game being lost.

  • Yeah, happens to me as well, but it is rare. So far once every two days. But yesterday I did not get a penalty for it (or it was over when I was back in the Lobby since it should be the 1 minute-penalty).

  • Nope, nothing changes. It is purely cosmetic.

  • "People just don't want to put the time and effort into learning how to go against new things I feel."

Can you enlighten me how I can learn to go against Ultimate Weapon? I mean, sure, I can go into a locker when I see the Killer approaching a Locker. But most of the time you dont see that the Killer activates Ultimate Weapon, so you will just scream when the Terror Radius reaches you.

And I dont count "Run Calm Spirit" as "learning how to go against".

The thing with Ultimate Weapon is that it is without a doubt the best tracking ability. And when we look at the counters, Aura-Reads have more counters. Ultimate Weapon has one - Calm Spirit. A Perk which hinders yourself in certain situation.

It also really pairs well with Dead Mans Switch. Which had counters before, it was used with Pain Resonance and you can stand up from a Gen (granted, nowadays you have to do that early, so you probably waste time which you can spend repairing), but with Ultimate Weapon, you will just hear the TR and Dead Mans Switch will trigger since you scream.

You can also not really compare it to Doctors Static Blast, since it is better than the Static Blast when it comes to tracking. It lingers for 30 seconds and has a 30 second cooldown, so the activation timing is roughly the same, but as I said, it lingers and it does not really give a warning, while you can hear Doctors Blast charging. And this is a Perk, which should weigh less than the ability of a Killer. And with those 30 seconds you can scan a HUGE portion of the Map.

On top of it, it adds Blindness. Which is fine, but should not be ignored, since it hard-counters Perks like Windows of Opportunity, which is the most used Survivor-Perk.

IMO if Ultimate Weapon would not linger for 30 seconds but just trigger when opening a locker or linger for a small amount of time (5 seconds on Tier 3), it would still be very strong and a very good alternative to Aura Read-Perks).

  • With this logic you can remove all accessibility features. Because the game was designed to be X and Y.

So yeah, no FoV-Slider anymore. Sad.

Due to the tome and its three challenges Dredge now gets played a fair bit and people realise how much they hate a non-played killers power and call for nerfs, because its "totally unfun", "extremely unfair" and "utterly OP! OMG how can such an ability be left in the game? Wake up sheeple!".

I mean, I get your point, but currently there seem to be two Threads which are bumped.

    One is from march...

And the recent one is more about Dredge being unfair for people with poor vision. And I dont really think that this is a bad take or anything, Nightfall is really dark and not really pleasant to look at for me without any issues when it comes to eyesight. But if you have issues (the OP of the Thread complaining about it is colorblind and wears glasses) it will be way worse, so I think it is a fair point.

  • This is great news. I guess the License Holders wanted more money, so the Devs had to go this way. I would have been fine with it for licensed Chapters to be honest, but for original ones it would be a big No for me.

  • @Dustin said:

If this becomes a trend it wouldn't surprise me if BHVR quickly addresses it next mid chapter.

    @Topic:

I have seen it once so far, but it was a Myers who was probably doing the Achievement, because they used both Iri Add Ons. But yeah, they facecamped someone and this person was smart enough to not jump off the hook to give us time to complete the last Gen.

But I dont really see it really becoming a trend. Some people might do it out of spite to keep camping, but I see it more often that people run Builds to bring the Survivor to the Basement to camp them from above.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

    Most likely.

Because once MFT is nerfed, they will go for the next thing, because Killers who are losing games (and think it is because of MFT) will still be losing games, so there HAS to be another reason why they lose.

That there is so much discussion about MFT at least shows that there is a relevant Survivor Perk after so many years. Because if Killers approve a thing, you know that it is too weak.

Then you are not playing against good survivors

Also completely ignored my point that survivors can make all the mistakes in the world and still get out while the killer misses one attack or hits the wrong survivor once and the essentially lose

Yeah, I ignored this point because it is a bad point. I have seen Killers still winning despite making a lot of mistakes (obviously the Survivors did not play well either...). Heck, I also have won games which I should not have won.

But I have also seen Survivor Teams fall apart because of a mistake.

The narrative that Survivors can make a lot of mistakes and still escape and Killers cannot make a single small mistake, otherwise they lose is honestly just told by Killer Mains with less than 500 hours...

  • Nobody will be able to answer this question. The majority does not know and the few people who might know it will not be able to tell you since they are probably under NDA.

I would say it is not likely. As you said, the license is in the game for a very long time and there was not much so far. It also totally depends on the license holder, if BHVR is allowed to make cosmetics, they will do it. But it is not their own decision.

And license holders can be different. E.g. the Stranger Things-license Holders or the one from Resident Evil seem to like cosmetics. The one from Nightmare on Elm Street not at all. And the Halloween-license holders lean more towards not really being a fan of cosmetics, if we consider how long it took to get the latest cosmetics for Myers and Laurie.

Thats looking at "AVERAGE" games played. If you took the best killer player in the world for each killer, and played against the best survivor team in the world. Only nurse would win, and even that wouldn't be a guarantee.

I want it to be such that, if you played 10 matches with the best killer player in the world on each killer, and the best survivor team in the world, that each killer had between 4-6 out of 10 matches won. Obviously perfect balance is impossible, but 4/6 and 6/4 wouldn't be bad.

Yes, this is the average. However, this also means that the individual experience can be different. There will be Killers who win way more games than they lose and there will be Killers who lose way more games than they win.

And if someone is part of the latter group - well, sucks, but they have to improve. It is totally acceptable to not be good at a game. In the end, it simply cannot happen that Killers 4K every game and Survivors escape every game.

  • @Rebecca1InTheChamber said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3561698#Comment_3561698

Kill rates are like that because of bad survivors, if every survivor was good they would not be like that lol. I don't think you play Killer a lot or are playing against bad survivors if you think Killer is fine

And I consider my viewpoint from Killer and survivor as I have said before, I play both sides (as everyone should, we would have a more balanced game)

And Killers do make mistakes, the difference is that Killer mistakes are detrimental and game costing while survivors can make a lot of mistakes and still escape just fine

I have probably more hours on Killer alone than many other players in total. And while I would not consider myself good (I think I verse better Killers than I am myself), I win more than I lose, which would mean that my MMR should be at least above average. So saying that I dont play Killer is quite wrong.

And when it comes to mistakes - you never see people writing here that they made mistakes. They lose the game because of Perks, Maps, whatever. But this goes for both sides, the DBD-Community as a whole is unable to think "Hm... Maybe I did not play THAT well".

  • @Halloulle said:

tbh, since the addon pass she's been kinda alright.

She's among the killers who will always win if the player has mastered her. And there is not much to be done about that except blocking her from using certain perks or reworking her completely. And neither of those things will happen.

The problem is that it is not hard to get to the level that you win almost all of your games with her. And sadly she still has some good Add Ons (I dont know who thought that giving her a Mangled Add On was a good idea, but whoever it was - it was not a good idea) AND she still can snowball.

If a Killer gets nerfed 3 times over the years and always without any doubt is the best Killer in the game, the Devs did something wrong. Let alone that you have to put less effort into playing her than Killers who are weaker.

  • You have to do two things to Double Pip:

    • Win
    • Entertain the Entity

The first thing is obvious, the second thing is the Lore-explanation why you cannot just slug 4 Survivors, hook them all afterwards and expect a Double Pip.

However, Pipping on both sides is kinda wonky. Because you dont only have to play well, but the other players in the game also have to play in a specific way.

As Killer, you have to play well. And also hope that the Survivors are good (they need to unhook people, otherwise you cannot get enough Hooks for example) BUT they cannot be too good, otherwise you might lose or take too long to down them.

(As Survivor you have to play well. Also the Killer has to play good, otherwise you finish the game too fast BUT they should not be too good, otherwise you die. And of course your teammates need to be somewhat decent so that you can escape BUT they should also not be too good, because then you might not get points in other categories.)

  • First of all - there is not such thing as "Basekit Blight with Add Ons". Blight is Basekit when not using any Add Ons or not Basekit when using Add Ons.

The thing is that there is quite a difference between a Blight using Add Ons and one not using Add Ons. Because he has A LOT of really, really good Add Ons. This means two things - first of all, you can have lots of builds and second because you have so many good Add Ons, it is unlikely that you ever run out of them.

Other Killer sometimes only have a handful of good Add Ons. E.g. Pyramid Head really only has Range Add Ons which are good, the others are not really worth using. Blight has - Compound 33, Compound 21, Alchemist Ring, Adrenaline Vial, Blighted Crow, Blighted Rat. Those are not only way more than e.g. Pyramid Head, but they also cover a bigger variety and are stronger (compared to what they do, adding a bit of Range is nothing to refilling all Rushes if you land a hit or making you very fast).

Also, Add Ons remove Counterplay. E.g. Alchemist Ring... The best outcome for the Survivor is to dodge 5 Rushes. The second best is to dodge 4 Rushes. But if the Killer has Alchemist Ring, it does not matter if you dodge 4 Rushes or none. Same with Adrenaline VIal - instead of dodging up to 5 Rushes, you have to dodge up to 7 Rushes AND he has them back in half the time it would need normally.

And on top of all of that - every time a Killer Add On gets nerfed it is actually laughable that Blight can get away. I mean, they nerfed Marvins Blood (which, to be fair, was or still is the best Add On of Nemesis) before touching Blight. They even nerfed Add Ons from weak Killers like Clown...

So yeah, Blights Add Ons are problematic and one thing where almost the whole community agrees on that they need changing.

  • @Rebecca1InTheChamber said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3561679#Comment_3561679

Killers aren't a "bit" stronger. They're not strong at all really. If Survivors are efficient at holding m1, it doesn't matter how strong or how good the killer is. That is a problem

I mean, I know that I will have a two-digit number of notifications tomorrow because many of you want to claim that Killer is not strong because you lose a game sometimes, but the Killrates are above 50%. This means that, despite all the mental gymnastics Killers on this forum go through, Killer is doing fine.

If you think that Killer is "not strong at all really", then you might consider that you are "not strong at all really" at playing this game as Killer?

I rarely see Killer Mains in this forum to actually admit that they do mistakes. Recent example was one who got mindgamed and said that the Survivors exploit the new, barely useful, Anti-Camping Mechanic.

  • @Rebecca1InTheChamber said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3561614#Comment_3561614

Literally everything is in the survivors favor. I play both sides and survivor is by far the easier of the two. That needs to change

Survivor will always be the easier role. This is a 4v1, obviously the side with only 1 person will have it harder. And this is why this side is also a bit stronger (even if Forum Killers claim otherwise), more interesting (more variety since every Killer has a different ability) and grants more rewards.

  • @GolbezGarlandGabrant said:

Not sure what people want out of survivors.

Holding M1 on gens too much is genrushing.

Any other sort of reaction that isn't on gens like sabo'ing, flashlights, Head On, FTP/Buckle, etc., then it's "bullying" the killer.

It's almost like killers just want effortless games void of any resistance or interaction from survivors.

Yep. Killers want Survivors as point-providers. Some meatbags. And if they dont get a 4K, they throw a tantrum.

(You see this with every new addition which is first complained about and then it is good. E.g. Bots which replace DCed Survivors. Killers complained about it, but once they realized that the Bot is not helpful for the Survivors but more points for the Killer, they like it. Same with the Anti-Camp - it is almost useless, so they like it. )

  • There should be nothing which would prevent them from being available for Shards after a month.

  • Obviously DBD is far away from dying and some people just want the game to die. They dont have fun playing it anymore but they cant stop playing, so they hope it will die so that everyone else also cannot have fun with it anymore.

  • If you get a 24h-Matchmaking ban you have disconnected a lot before. Even if this time it was due to the game disconnecting you, you had many disconnects before. So either you tried to play while your internet was not stable at all or you ragequit a lot.

But I feel that people want to see the game dying and this is because they open Threads all the time about it. It is kinda sad.

  • Dont know gameplay-wise yet, I only had it 3 times as Survivor and 1 time as Killer. I did notice some deadzones tho.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3560159#Comment_3560159

So they devoted half their build to try to secure their hooks in the high risk zone?

    Seems fair to me.

You could always run Boil Over.

The alternative of course is killers can't come anywhere near a basement, making any basement hooks risk free rescues. So the killer would never want to hook a survivor in the basement.

I'm sure that sounds wonderful to survivor mains, but that's not how the game is supposed to work.

What exactly does Boil Over do?

Unless the Killer is not jumping downwards (which the Killer in question did not do), it does nothing. The effect of Iron Grasp negates the effect of Boil Over and the wiggle time is still longer and they still walk faster while carrying.

I mean, trapper and hag, as rare as they r, would just become completely unviable to use, kill their entire kit

Yeah, I think the 7 seconds itself are fine. It was stupid anyway that the Survivor basically starts with like 1/5th of the bar already filled when the Killer just hooked a person. (Even tho, it does not matter, the bar can be empty, on 20% or 99%, the Survivor will not be able to unhook)

But all the things combined makes the Anti-Camp mechanic really not meaningful and it is watered down a lot. It really only helps against the very most blatant cases where a Killer is standing right in front of the Hook. And those were rare to begin with.

But I guess this is what is the result if the Devs work on something for a few months and then change it that much in a few weeks due to some feedback of people who played 3 games on the PTB.

I mean, I wrote back then that they should remove Basement. Then they also could have removed the vertical progression completely. (There will probably some spots where the Killer would be able to camp, but it would be not as prominent and consistent like the Basement)

Yeah exactly. And so far I did not really need a BHVR-Account since I think the only things so far is to get the Jake-Skin when you buy Hooked on You, Cross-Progression (for the few platforms where it is possible) and I think to add friends which are not on your platform. Its an *anti-face camping* mechanic, if you got caught near basement thats a skill issue on your end, I know WOO doesn't tell you where basement is... but come on man, its a big hole in the ground, its hard to miss, especially when the spawns are fixed to either main or shack it doesn't take 1k + hours to "learn the maps" basement spawns.

Basement is designed to be a hard spot to get unhooks from and the PTB AFC system gave survivors half progress just because the killer is *leaving the basement*.

    Man, what a bad post.

The Killer had Agitation and Iron Grasp. I was not even near Basement. And I dont even run WoO, but hey... All to give your "argument" some "structure", eh?

I believe this has been fixed quite a while ago. I linked my account just fine.

Probably. But if I have this, I will get almost 9k hours of playtime as compensation in Bloodpoints. And I have plans for the future and they dont include spending Billions of Bloodpoints I got as compensation for my loss of progress :p

(Depending on the Drops I might link it. I hope they are not cosmetics or anything like this...)

Already had survivors exploiting it, by running the chase near the hooked guy who was near shack making me think they were looping shack, but then they just run away. So i start trying to mindgame while they aren't there, meanwhile person unhooks themselves.

So you mindgaming yourself is Survivors exploiting it?

You mean it supposed to make basement a safe place with no other function than providing a guaranteed chest location?

It is a Anti-Camping mechanic which is not really useful against camping. So...yeah.

  • Yeah, since you need a BHVR-Account for this, I am not doing this. I once read that people got loss of progress when linking their account to a BHVR-Account and I dont really want to experience this.
