  • Idk.

Literally face a wall or a tree 4head, what's a flashlight gonna do against simple positioning change.

I have ears, so using it on a pallet break is pretty pointless imo.

The only people who suffer ig are Wraith and Hag mains but even then they know their workarounds of it

  • Mojang is a gamer powerhouse with Microsoft backing.

They probably have hundreds of spare servers to do maintenance of a hundred more should they need to.

  • Games have been going pretty much the same.

Crushing potatoes, destroyed by god loopers.

Even casual SWF can coordinate their loadouts and relay simple information. When you have OoO its no longer just some information, you can locate killer every time you want.

Hard counter OoO? Who? Except for Nurse and maybe Spirit thats impossible. You just stand on the god loop and dont leave it. Then you use comms to tell your team Killers location. And there is no killer that can hard counter god loops except for the 2 mentioned above.

Even outside SWF OoO hard counters Trapper, Hag and Demogorgon's portals while it also moderately counters most killers, because it shows their location to the user.

But there is no point in explaining to you because you dont even know how important it is fot the killer to not have his location revealed all the time.

Let me guess: you dont even play Hag or Trapper and didnt see any issue when the only early slowdown perk was reworked into mid-late game pressure based slowdown perk.

Did you really just ask who can hard counter OoO?

Lmao does Wraith, Ghostface, T1 Myers (scratched mirror or not), Pig (used wisely) and Huntress not exist? With some honorable mentions to Doc and Legion.

This is a good chunk of killers you're completely missing out on if OoO troubles you so. So many counters being passed up and yet people think this perk is still OP to an extent more than it actually is.

Of course, one would think Object hard counters Hag and Demo. It doesn't too much at all, it just tells Demo that someone is going to his portal, which is base kit anyway. Hags who place traps only have to worry about flashlights, tripping them works in her favor. The only real killer who suffers is Trapper, and the low mobility killers with no counter, like Leatherface.

And who tf even mentioned God loops? We're talking about the perk on its own. God loops are a map tile issue, and not present in every map in the game, so this is irrelevant, if you're gonna argue with me keep it on topic.

And yes I play Hag, more so than Trapper. Hag is easily bothered by a team of flashlights, which at that point I swap, or I run the silent addons. Body blocking addons is great for the smaller maps too.

The problem with Franklins is the only toolbox its countering is the one not being used. The other toolboxes are still gonna pump out gens faster until its their turn to be chased, and things like BNPs are going to get their values worth before you ever start a chase with the person holding it.

Franklins is decent at countering medkits, since often times you can chip enough charges off it of to deny a full heal or cause the person to be unable to use the instaheal it has for the 2nd half of the chase. Its also decent at countering flashlights since those are something that is going to be used midchase, meaning no blinding at pallets after you smack it out of their hand. Against toolboxes and keys though...Franklins doesnt do much.

If you're familiar with gen rushing you know the go to is Commodius with the speed addons not BNPs lol

Franklins gets it's value almost every match you use it if you spot a full team running Items.

  • The Rat outfit makes Susie look pretty thicc + tbh them thighs 😤

With Extra duration addons and sometimes Legion pin if I spot SWFs

    I run Ruin + Surveillance + Thanatophobia + Nurse's Calling

Alternate build I usually use against people who I think will be heavy altruistic (particularly swf)

Corrupt Intervention + Save The Best For Last + Iron Grit + Agitation.

Works like a charm against people attempting to take hits.

Odd reason you mean "being able to see the killer at all times and read all his moves with a high chance of being in a SWF where this perk is completly broken"

So where is the odd part?

    It was sarcasm.

Idk why people think OoO is such an op Perk on SWF teams who are just friends playing together casually. If you see more than one it's legit just trolling.

The perk goes both ways, and you can play a good amount of killers that will hard counter this perk and make it a wasted slot.

But there's probably no point explaining that to you. Let me guess, you're also upset Ruin was nerfed too?

  • I think you're getting tunneled bc of object.

For some odd reason it really upsets a killer.

  • I guess just get close and dont lunge, let the hitbox take care of the rest, doesnt matter If they spin

  • Scott mentioned that the Trapper and Hag would have time to set up traps.

Inb4 all you have to do is just run at the killer beginning of the game to prevent that.

They removed the early game impact. The perk's name still exists but the effect is gone. Let's say, they keep Roadhog but make him look like Reinhard with the same power and stats. Would you say Roadhog isn't disabled, he just got changed?

Yes because he is still viable in the same way Ruin is today, just people that dont know how to use it.

  • @Deadeye said:

but BHVR did "disable" ruin for the sake of meta. Didn't they Blizzard then?

    No

What Blizzard is doing is completely removing a hero for a whole week.

Ruin just got changed, but beat the dead horse some more

    Yea yea rhetorical question smh

  • The things toxic in this game is just actual game strategy for 300 IQ minds only.

    100 Speech

  • So is your argument directed towards the red ranked portion of the game?

    What about anything below?

After not touching killer for a while sure is nice to completely curb stomp my way back. That's my take though, I can't neccesarily agree with this. There's so many dependent factors that if one favors a side they pretty much win over the other.

  • In one of their most popular franchises, Overwatch, the dev team decided that it was best to disable certain heroes of their choice to solve out the issues revolving around the "meta".

As you may probably guess the playerbase is a concert scale uproar, because what they were requesting was player chosen bans at the beginning of a match in (x) map. Instead they got the latter.

BHVR has done worse. Nurse went from a killer who was overpowered, but fun to play as, to still the strongest killer, yet hardly anybody uses her because she now feels absolutely awful to play.

A perk got gutted not because of any actual balance reasons, but because some survivors found it "too frustrating" and so they gutted the perk without addressing any of the reasons for why the perk was ran as often as it was in the first place.

Amazing that Nurse is still a strong killer, yet people just liked being OP because being OP is fun.

Ruin is gutted but it was only gutted in the eyes of people who heavily relied on it in red ranks.

New Ruin still crushes new players and it is a pretty decent carry from gray to purple. It also gives a training wheel to killers that makes more sense and teaches even more. Tbh the same problems people have with New Ruin are just about the same as the old, that it still is a Hex.

That's just a dead horse of a topic though, as long as BHVR doesn't go in the direction Blizzard did with Overwatch, I am slightly satisfied.

You know what all these synergies have in common? they can not be disabled. lul

What good does this info do to you? You know if info is so strong old doc, shoulda been also really good but he wasn't and neither is this poop.

Also even assuming that your "combo" stands till 3 gens, if the survivors are not utterly ######### they will not 3 gen in a tiny area, in case you didn't know, to 3 gen yourself as survivor in a tiny area was already bad before this combo. HF with your info while you travel temple or whatever big ass map as clown.

Why would I use this combo with clown.

I have an entirely different build that I can play around with clown that doesn't involve the use of such a petty crutch.

Standing till 3 gens is subjective, you can end the games before you even reach to that with this build. And gen locks depend on the map. You're still gonna get value off Ruin because you dont have to waste time kicking generators, so you start a chase, get a hit, rinse and repeat with another survivor. The synergy can be disabled, sure. But Surveillance is still a decent aura perk still.

In fact, the build dominates and gives a pretty nice carry lower all the way to purple and red ranks. So yes, I'm having quite a lot of fun experimenting with the builds people are saying don't work in maps like Red Temple, because I'm confident in my skill and ability to recognize when Perks like Ruin give me value and when they don't.

One, teeny tiny wittle detail you might have missed.

Ruin is a Hex perk. It goes away within 30 seconds of a survivor learning about it. The perk combos you listed, want to know why needing each other for the results they give are ok? They last the whole game. In addition to that, the ones you said can work in tandem with even more combos of perks. Enduring and spirit fury? Try is with Nemsis and play with your food. Now you basically WANT to be hit by pallets. Self care and botany? Add on Resilience, maybe even spine chill and say "Bah, what injury?" as you heal to full in seconds while the killer is powerless against the might of your speedy rubs. Sloppy and Thana? Maybe try with Nurses, dying light or even Unnerving Presence. Make them regret trying to heal and make gens feel like they take forever. Ruin and surveilence though.. They sorta only synergise with each other. Can't use half of the gen slowdown perks until Ruin is gone, even thrilling tremors doesn't really work with it since they don't regress while it's up. Can't use PGTW or Surge til it's destroyed either. And once Ruin is gone, that's it, down to three perks, one of which isn't really useful til there's one gen left.

This was literally Old Ruin's problem and it was just as gone as the new one gets sometimes.

The perk can still get a tremendous amount of value if you play your cards right

Why the hell would anyone waste time, blood points and perk slots to have a mediocre build when better perks exists on their own

They wont, the vast majority of the killers already own the perk

  • @Hoodied said:

I did use it actually, it does not hold the title of a hex perk.

You shouldn't need to mix another perk to help a hex perk become a threat, a hex perk should be strong on its own

    This guy.

You shouldn't need Enduring to get a free hit at a pallet with spirit fury

You shouldn't need Botany to speed up Self Care

You shouldn't need Sloppy to slow down more with Thana

You miss the point entirely. The Hex perk is good. But synergies are even better, and that is the point of a BUILD

An endgame build for killer could be fun, but I'm doing quite well with my current builds. I've been playing a lot of Ghostface with Sloppy and Nurses, and people who don't heal versus Ghostface have an insane amount of courage and I actually respect them. Other than that I play Oni with ruin and if they don't heal I have my power up so often that I'm basically a race car for the full match.

Yeah my bad for lumping you in with the whineys from the BT DS dogma

I'm not complaining about the meta or the perks themselves, just stating how strong they are in the EGC hence the current meta of rushing to the EGC.

Sounds to me like you would benefit from blood warden good sire

  • I spawned in a tree really high up.

I pretended to be a squirrel

  • Reason is that Keys follow a simple rule of "X Gens need to be completed"

I once made a suggestion about it saying Ebony and ivory Moris should follow this rule and become available after 1 gen, and another mori available after the next gen is complete.

This way is to reduce the 5 gen 4k mori wipes that happen all too often, while keeping the game going in a steady pace and reward both sides at the same time.

(Meaning you can have any number of hooks prior to a mori becoming available at 4 gens and so on)

  • @RickJames said:

Personally the majority of my games are like that. Its just the current meta of do gens don't heal make it to EGC and you get a free escape with BT, DS.

Here we go again. BT and DS killer karens that think those 2 perks are the sole reason they lose.

  • That game imo was really just sweaty survivors and Otz matching their sweat as well.

2 toolboxes + PT forced Otz to tunnel to even the playing field.

He made some mistakes here and there that caused him to waste too much time. Yet, he still managed a 3k out of a really good game. End of the day Otz is still a really skilled player, and his videos are his solid proof.

  • I mean legit ranking system is about to become irrelevant.

It's gonna be, yo fam what's your mmr. Then get bullied for it

  • Ah spirit yes. Quick note since we're getting into mobility killers. You're gonna find that I don't rate their ability to find survivors past 5 simply because their power only helps in covering areas faster. Spirit is by far the least of the bunch simply because if she's not tracking you by scratch marks while phasing, it's by sound.

    3/10 finding people

    8.5/10 in chases

8/10 map pressure (avg size maps)

    7.5/10 game recovery

    Average: 6.75

Do you find this a bit surprising?

I find this is a bit more accurate way of assessing a killer rather than generalized tier lists.

You could theoretically place these on said tier lists, but it defeats the purpose of the *why this killer might perform better than this one*

Everyone has their own playstyles, you might want to play a killer with a high recovery, and another might want to play a killer that helps them find survivors quicker

  • How can I park in a driveway but not park in a parkway

  • What I have down for Hag

4/10 finding people (Traps going off, and her movement speed is the only thing she has going for her search)

    6/10 in chases

8/10 in map pressure (avg size maps)

    9/10 game recovery

    Average: 6.75

This would place hag right next to Doctor, which I think is pretty decent imo. You have any other Killers you want input on go ahead and ask

  • 8/10 for finding people

    7/10 in chases

7/10 map pressure (avg size maps)

    6/10 game recovery

    Average: 7

If you have questions go ahead.

  • If you wanna tunnel so bad wait 15 seconds or play Freddy and Doctor and not worry about BT as much.

Hook dives are literally almost free trades for killers, what's the problem in getting another hook in less than a minute here?

  • So are you addressing Killers or survivors?

Also BT exists so most killers will most likely go after the unhooker

  • Remember when there were killer mains that still thought Doctor's change was terrible.

    OP would so disagree lol

  • @TWiXT said:

Background: I've always played and enjoyed DbD casually, but for the first 1000 hours I chose to take the more difficult role... Killer. Its funny how it took me so long from Novemeber 2016 to July 2019 to accrue that many hours in the Killer role (I had a job, and it was my priority until recently), at which point I decided to switch roles to survivor for the next 1000 hours.

Within the time I've played as Killer, I've experienced:

Literal Infinite loops, Pallet Vacuums, Inability to damage generators, DS available at any time once per match with no hook requirements, BT protecting both the unhooked and the Rescuer, Instant flashlights, Flashlights that could ensure a survivors escape no matter when they blind you during pickup, Instant heals, Guaranteed Hatch Stand-offs, SC Healing in less than 12 seconds, A veritable Plethora of exploits that allowed survivors to infinitely break the game against me, Pitch black outfits that made Claudette Literally invisible to the naked eye, Fog so thick that you couldn't even see survivors more than 16 meters away, countless sound design issues, and hex totem spawns so terrible that they could never be depended on.

2018-2019 has seen some major changes regarding balance, and mostly in the Killers favor. They nerfed DS, BT, BL, SC, Healing mechanics in general, etc... Basically what I'm trying to say is that, up until recently, these past few years were a MUCH darker time to play killer, but despite that, I persevered through all of it!

Is this a statement of my overall bad-ass-ness, or more of a testament to my masochism?

    It's neither...

I, Like most , Love this game! I Have put up with endless Bullshit and bad design decisions to make it to where I am today as a Killer who has taken this unforgettable statement to heart:

"If survivors never hold back on their advantages and builds... Why should you?"

I follow a specific creed when I play this game (one you can find listed here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/58509/my-updated-unwritten-rules-list-for-playing-dbd#latest ), and it hasn't failed me.

As for What The OP is saying/Complaining about, I feel you, but I can't respect your decision to just "give up" based on how the last patch has treated killers. One thing that most people seem to forget is that Killers are Players and not NPC's. We have a mind of our own, Strategies, or Tactics to ensure a win against you, and the only thing holding us back is the bizarre concept that you are players too and want to have fun as well. Once they nerfed Ruin, the last bastion of control Killers had to allow them to give survivors a "fun" time, the gloves came off. To Be honest, it's always been the fault of the survivors... They always played "gloves off" against killers, and the killers mostly entertained their efforts by being more sportsmanlike than they were. As of the last update however... It's been a NO MERCY BLOODBATH (Of which I predicted here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/979907#Comment_979907 )!

So, While I can Sympathize with the OP, I can't agree with them at all considering all the CRAP Killer Players have had to put up with in the past, and how much this game has evolved to make things more balanced in favor of killer players in the past year an a half. I honestly don't believe in their idea that "the devs being entirely survivor biased" is justified. This is just another Rough patch for killers, and its no where near as bad as we've had it in the past. If the OP wants to make a statement by crying out that they are quitting over it, then... good riddance.

This game is already loaded with poor sports who DC on a whim, and this community could do with less of them, as well as less of people like the OP in my opinion.

Your response is a literal wake up call and a smack of reality to people. Props to you.

Man ######### you talking bout. "Its not like both sides are equally toxic dhuhuh" 😂

That was kind of mean but that's a really dumb ass reply. One, because anyone who plays dbd knows how toxic survivors are and to you used one example of a snippet of a long convo ("Once again") of a killer telling you to go ######### yourself to basically justify being a toxic #########. "But I didn-" But the my post was basically a joke making fun of people who send toxic messages, to which you replied defensively implying youre constantly being a toxic #########! that guy was apparently low rank too and wait, oh wait let me guess, you bullied him all game and sent "GGEZ"? Which is why you felt the need to defend yourself.

Im a ######### genius I know but now that we got all that out of the way theres something I wonder, because toxic survivors have this victim card they play a lot (GET IT) where it doesn't seem like you realize youre being a toxic #########. You get on gta or cod or Overwatch and find someone toxic and be like "Hey you a toxic piece of #########" and they'll be like "damn straight"

So heres what im wondering right, toxic survivors dont play killer. The assumption is because its hard, BUT what if its because you actually feel a moral objection to the "other side". You dont play killer but you constantly see your friends die to them. Now toxic survivors are toxic across the board, even and especially to other survivors. I dont got an explanation for this.

Anyway I would like to hear your thoughts on why youre a toxic survivor, I might make a thread because I wonder about it and I think I got good theories but I never get a chance to voice them because I only get on here lit, and I dont be thinking about it dig but this ######### reminded me

That was a rank 1 killer though.

There was no bullying involved, you're just making assumptions out of your butt! Me personally I think he was just fcked by the map. In which case I sent him a message mocking the devs, but his replies were not so great. He even took the time out of his life to put toxic comments on all of my DBD clips lmao.

This killer DCd because he was getting rolled, I was playing with 1 friend and 2 solos that game, he found my friend soon as game started and couldn't land a hit on him. But sure, assume that I got defensive at the OP, saying that both sides are equally toxic, which they are.

This is how being defensive looks like btw ^

I have the game clipped if you want to see it, at no point in the game was I ever toxic.

How was my first reply a dumbass reply? Get real lol, I'm not justifying being toxic, I was merely pointing out that it really is both sides, and showing one example of a long conversation of how ignorant the killer I was versing was, as well as how toxic he got.

I'm gonna tell you the same thing I told him and that is not to jump to conclusions.

  • I like a whole lot of these.

Teleporting for survivors and killers who are not Freddy or demi is a bit weird but more of a funny.

The insidious one is a bit icky because it's pretty much discount spirit. Here's my suggestion for that

    Insidious;

Hooking a survivor will grant the undetectable status for x/x/x seconds.

  • DS is such a hit or miss perk though.

I bring it and I get slugged for an entire minute and a half

I take it off and get tunneled the next match.

I keep it off and for whatever reason I get into a game where no one has it, and we get picked up immediately after down bc the killer doesnt need to worry about it lol.

  • This is kind of a low blow man.

Why are you throwing shade to someone who is not involved?

Oddly specific way to get his attention doe

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    @Aura_babyy

And exactly what you just said is the piece of the puzzle missing when I ask people why they feel like they got gen rushed.

Sometimes I get it, map rng hits heavy and you have a group of survivors who are decent, and have toolboxes, but how you play as a killer matters.

Applying pressure is not just a meme, it's a reality. Some people will ultimately suffer in their matches unless they know how to properly apply any kind of pressure for that matter.

    Yes, this ^

And with the volume of complaining it makes you think about how much Ruin was relied on, and the new version dismissed so heavily.

After rewatching @Angeleou 's clip, I thought about the value he could have gotten from using Ruin that match. He applied a decent enough gen pressure that it would have given him quite the advantage if it was a decent totem spawn.

I can somewhat tell what was going through her head.

The annoyance that she walked all the way across the map. Finally found someone even though a gen popped then for 2 more to pop moments later. Just defeats the purpose of even trying anymore honestly

Actually before she came to me she was chasing my friend. I was in a 2 man swf.

She gave up on him bc he was looping her real good between a double T and a jungle gym

  • The only real difference here imo is that the spirit DCd.

She could have had a chance because it looked like we were about to 3 gen lock ourselves at the time. I was playing with 1 friend and he was found almost immediately, so yea

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 11
