Not sure why people are acting like BHVR picked this over improving the game. Y'all understand that the writers and the developers are different people, right? Like, it's totally possible to have the lore team work on lore while the actual maintenance/balance team works on the game itself.

So you hear a boon and decide to ruin someone’s game and be toxic. Ok.
If being eliminated in an elimination based game "ruins your game" then this probably isn't the game for you. I'd say try fall guys, but you can be eliminated there as well.

the butchered site i read it on made the formatting a nightmare but it was fairly standard for most of it. didn't explicitly go "DAVID KING IS GAY GAY HOMOSEXUAL GAY" but it was definitely there. then eventually we shall reach the final 2 sentences and i broke and now feel hollow inside.
imo it's well written.
Wonderful!!!
-
This is the same company that has openly stated they made changes to animation to make tbagging look better, so I'm not sure why people are acting like it's unintended now.
-
It's because it works. If survivors were better at being team players, it would be less effective, but when the killer comes chasing his target, everyone scatters like a high school party when the cops are called. Block the killer, blind/stun him whenever he's carrying the teammate and help your team out.
Or just come whine on the forums. I guess that works too.
-
I'm just waiting to read the lore. If it's well written, I'm happy. If it isn't, that'll suck, but it's the first at bat, they've got time to work on what doesn't get over.
-
1. No, the survivors had the ability once, ended up leading to abuse, so it was removed. Not likely to come back.
2. Honestly I kind of doubt that the sole reason you were targeted by the nurse was escaping through hatch. not only do I have personal experience facing the same killer repeatedly, I also know from playing killer that I don't remember the player names unless they were especially toxic. Add to that
3. 30 min DC penalty. So this wasn't the first time you dcee in a short space of time, which is indicative of a toxic mindset.

so according to you if the killer decides to slug me and look for hatch for the extra points I should be willing to just sit there/crawl around for 4 minutes and let him do so? Or should I be able to DC without a penalty? in actuality I should be able to slice my wrists and get out of it... but ya know the game is killer sided and controlled so that wouldn't make any sense amirite?
Yes... Yes you should.
You lost the game, just as a killer who's watching 4 survivors t bag them until they get bored and leave or the egc timer goes down enough that they have to. Sometimes losing sucks. That's life.

Forgot about that, for some reason I thought they were powered when the hatch opens

In fact, it's just a question of respect, somewhere ... I think it's a shame that because of a jerk whose only goal is to annoy the players, they have to bend to his rules ...🤔
Concerning the case of the trapdoor, the Bubba had managed to kill (I should say: camp) 3 survivors, and there were still generators to be made.
The trap door had opened, and he had posted himself just above.
So, of course, the last survivor could have had fun making the other generators, in ninja mode, somewhere, it's true 😊
"So, of course, the last survivor could have had fun making the other generators, in ninja mode, somewhere, it's true"
That's what I'm saying, you've always got options. It's not bending to anybody's rules it's just deciding whether or not you're going to let an anonymous person on this video game upset you that badly.
In the first example where two are slugged. They could do the childish thing and DC, or they could put the controller down and get a snack or pet their animal or SO, or they could have fun with it. Crawl away from each other to force the killer to run between our of fear of unbreakable, do patterns in the ground. It's all about the options that you allow yourself to see.
Actually reminded me of what I used to do with a friend of mine when one of us got slugged when we were 2 man swf. Remember the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie?
We'd re-create his death scene over headset, ad-libbing the lines. Never failed to get both of us laughing like idiots by the end. So the killer who thought he was trolling us was giving us an excuse for our favorite in joke

Killers also dc lot of times when few gens get done or they don't catch survivors as quickly they want.
I think that's seen as less of a problem because when the killer dcs, the match just ends. Personally I still think it's dumb crybaby behavior no matter which side, but I can see the argument that the survivor leaving sucks worse for the remaining 3.

In the first case, there were only two survivors left, the other two were dead :/
Besides, when you play a game, I don't think you have to go and do something else because the enemy has decided so 🤔
As for the hatch camp, there was only one survivor left, but the exit doors were not powered 😕
Regarding your solution to counter the toxic SWFs by going to the cellar, I totally understand, and I guess yes, it must be wasting their time! I totally agree 🤩
But sometimes you don't care about them, you just want to move on to the next one 😐️
In the first case, if there are 2 survivors and they've both been slugged, the match is going to end regardless.
You have a choice. You can let the actions of others distress you so much that you DC and lose your blood points, as well as court the penalty. Or you can decide that you are in control of your own feelings and actions. You don't have to do anything,
I want to see this video where the hatch is opened but the gates aren't powered.
-
Can you point me to the game that doesn't have a fanbase who will sexualize the characters? Because I've seen fall guys porn, so I don't think that game exists.
-
@Little_Kitten said:

However, there are situations in which leaving the game would be completely understandable.
- the killer didn't like being looped by a survivor, so at the end, when there are only two survivors left, he decides to put one down, then the other, and NOT hang them up, waiting for them to die from exhaustion;
- the killer didn't like receiving a DS in his face; at the same time, he was tunneling...; so, once he manages to find the one he put there, he slugs him over and over, and prevents the others from helping him;
- the killer camps the trapdoor, staying above it, waiting for a survivor to show up; magnificent, the survivor has no other choice but to either give himself to the killer;
- the survivors are very toxic, which makes the killer want to move on to the next game, but, unluckily, the survivors are both toxic AND competent, so they can decide to hold the game hostage indefinitely;
1 and 2, the survivor can just go grab a snack instead, not only would it avoid the penalty, for 2 it would also keep them occupied so the other survivors could escape.
3. If the killer is guarding the hatch, and the hatch is open, that means every other survivor has escaped or died, which means both gates are powered as well. Instead of "giving yourself to the killer" you could literally open the gate and escape that way. Also at that point egc is happening, so if you lack the skill to make the gates, it still won't last forever, so there is no reason to DC.
4. Killer gets the snack this time. Seriously, the best way I've found to deal with those kind of swf groups is just go to the basement, put the controller down, and get something tasty. The longer they're in my lobby playing with themselves, the less chances they have to go ######### with some newbie killer.

So, it's not because it affects the killer winning or losing the game, it's because it's aggravating. I think we can a tiny bit of aggravation once in a while to get tunneling-off-hook-till-dead and face-camping out of the game.
Much the same as tunneling. Survivors don't care that they lost an elimination based game, they find that their experience in the game was aggravating, so they demand a change.

Not with the watered down version of Borrowed Time. It isn't usable during EGC, so there's no more worry about that.
Its actually not egc where it bothers me the most. Then there is at least a reason, beyond just trolling.

The one the developers have been talking about, basekit Borrowed Time, would work. The perk is already in the game and has a proven track record.
I hope they actually make a watered down version of Borrowed Time, base kit.
- Doesn't work at EGC
- Only works on 2nd hook
- On works if that player hasn't done anything, other than healing, between 1st hook and 2nd hook.
That makes Borrowed Time still relevant but also gives survivors some type of tunneling-off-hook-till-dead defense.
No, it would cause the unhooked to swarm the killer and try to let the unhooker get away, purposefully trying to get hit.
How do I know? It already happens now, just less frequently as BT isn't on every single survivor for free, so they take other perks.
-
@Sylhiri said:
Why isn't there a bones counter?
There is, it's the perk Small Game.
-
I have yet to see a proposed "fix" for tunneling that doesn't break more than it fixes. The biggest issue is you're trying to impose target control over someone who is a person, not an AI.
So people propose either punishing the killer with a reduction in points, or giving survivors some form of shield to protect them. Unfortunately both lead to the outcome of recently unhooked survivors trying to get hit, blocking the killer when they are trying not to tunnel.
It's the same basic principle behind the hook radius change that was supposed to fix camping, but got abused so badly by survivors it had.tonbe almost immediately reverted.
As long as every player has full agency, tunneling will happen. The best BHVR can do is try to introduce a good enough perk/mechanic/adjustment that makes it feel less necessary to win a match at high levels. That will at least drive down the frequency, though not eliminate tunneling entirely.
-
@anarchy753 said:
I never understood how the same people that say "it rewards bad play" also argue that they couldn't possibly be expected to do all the totems.
Like if the killer is putting on so much pressure that you can't afford the time to find and cleanse totems, then they obviously aren't playing badly.
The same people also claim that the small speed boost is enough for these "bad killers" to camp a hook, totem and both gates all at the same time, which I think is a skill even people who have won real money playing this game would envy.

Using infinites was also an strategy
Which is why none of the many players who did received any sort of punishment when the maps were adjusted to remove them. If BHVR wishes to stop camping, they can adjust the game again.
-
Get Robert Englund to do voiceover.
Replace blood puddles with survivor specific hallucinations that trap/slow the player.
-
Camping - not really my thing, but I hold no issue with it.
Tunneling - in literally every other multiplayer game this would just be called focusing down a player, no reason it needs a special term in dbd, and frankly, it's just not a real problem. Yes you'll get tunneled sometimes, that's what happens when you are playing against a person with free will and not an npc.
Slugging - if I slug it's for 1 of 2 reasons. Either trying for hooks has failed me. (boil over, sabotaged hooks, team that is great at saves), or everyone clumped up like a JV volleyball team.
What I really want to add, because I don't think it's said enough, at no point did I engage in any of these strategies out of malice. That is to say, when I tunnel you out of the match, it's not because I dislike you, or want to "punish" or "ruin your game" it's because I want to win. That's it. Either you brought a perk I'm trying to get rid of for an advantage, or you're the one I feel is doing the gens the most, or just who I can catch. I feel the sooner people can stop taking being on the other side of these tactics personally, the sooner we all mature as a community.

In some ways it's helpful when someone goes out of their way like that to let you know they can't be taken seriously.

Solo survivors have no place in the game anymore
Unlike survivors, who routinely try to just get 2 escapes, right? Lmao. Now trying to kill all the survivors is "bullying"?
Totally unrelated, but I found these two boards and these nails, did you drop them? Seriously, if the game is that bad to you, just go. I play survivor 80% of the time and all of that time I queue up as solo, your "poor me" attitude is so off the mark it's comical.

I watch some, but not others. Also I watch channels like Eurogamer and OutsideXbox on YouTube, so I'll watch their streams.
The ones I don't watch
1. Think their opinion of how something in a game works should be treated as fact.
2. Don't seem to enjoy the game they are playing.
3. Loudly cry and whine about things being "unfair".
4. Make clickbait videos "bringing awareness" to exploits by showing exactly how to do them, or videos where they just whine about a change in the game for an hour.
The one full time streamer I do watch. (Ohm)
1. Doesn't do bullshit clickbait videos on exploits or whining about perks.
2. Actually seems to enjoy playing the game.
3. Plays both sides.
4. Routinely acts as though they understand that they're just another person playing the game.
-
Huntress.
Her power is a ranged attack, if you've played almost any other first person perspective game, you'll quickly understand how it works. One button to axe people up close, other one to throw for range. Reloading is easy as well, as the lockers are highlighted on the map (which also helps new killers check lockers and find survivors)

Heres what I did.
Played 5 matches as each one. Then I had my own list of which killers worked best for my playstyle, and which just weren't for me. Each killer is different enough that results vary based on whether you are on console or PC, what other style games you play well, etc.
-
It takes 2 hands to solve the box, so what is the Survivor sticking the med kit down their pants for the duration? I get that it's annoying to have to go back and pick up your item, but that tradeoff is literally part of the point behind the box. From a DbD lore, Hellraiser lore, and game mechanic viewpoint, it makes sense that you have to give something up in order to stop the Hell Priest's power.

IMO if you don't wanna bleed out, don't move.
if I down you (3rd surv) and I see the 4th I am going to go for them. Problem is survs think its good to crawl and hide in grass on other side of the map. I won't bleed you out, but I don't see why I shouldn't go for the 4th if I see them.
Don't want to bleed out, crawl into visible area, but in my experience survs do their best to hide to deny you the hook, then complain about slugging.
I would've picked you up 2 minutes ago if I could find you. Bleeding people out as griefing is not my thing, but if I see the 4th, I am going for it.
And that's totally fair to me. That's why I don't complain about bleeding out. Can't help but try and crawl away, after all, I live by the Historical Dicuments creed. "Never give up, Never Surrender!"

Only the distance one will be used, no one will waste half of their build for I-Frames
Maybe, but at least it would be by choice, and not just because there wasn't any options, also it would keep DH unique from a mechanical perspective.
Also, to be clear by splitting I mean changing it to like "press e for distance, r for invulnerability". Not making it into 2 separate perks.
-
@ThatOneDemoPlayer said:
Better question: How will Dead Hard even be nerfed?
The I-Frames aren't worth nerfing as they're not the problem, and nerfing the distance will kill the Perk.
Best you could do is fully rework the Perk
One idea I've seen tossed around that I think has potential is splitting the perk, so you have to choose between frames and distance.

Where did I say it is comparable? I know I never did. Second do you think the person slugged is having fun as a killer? No there for you are ruining their fun which can ruin the day. The intent doesn't matter you are doing something you know does ruin a persons fun. I wanted to speak privately because I don't feel like this conversation needs to be read by everyone or even pushing this convo forward. Anything else you fell you need to know? Can I ask you why do you even need to stick your self into a conversation I ended with the person I was talking to because I felt like it was a waste of time to speak here? Why did you feel the need to talk in public about this when you could have messaged in private? Could it be that you wanted to be Juvenile are you are implying that I am?
1. You directly compared the two, that kind of shows you believe they are comparable. That's literally how language works.
2. I've never once, in all my games as survivor, felt that my day was "ruined" by any single match. The closest was against a dick playing wraith who just blocked me in the corner all game, but even then I put the controller down, grabbed a Bueno, and had myself a treat while I waited for my teammates to escape. Being slugged certainly isn't enough (in fact, I'm one who will do their best to hide as a slug)
3. Whether or not you are having fun playing a video game is completely on you.
4. Just to reiterate, since this seems to be something people here don't understand. Whether or not you are having fun playing a video game is completely ON YOU.
5. I don't do private messages to discuss forum topics. I'm on a forum to engage with multiple people about a game we all (hopefully) enjoy. Unless trying to share gamertags or private details to set up a match together or something, there's just no reason for me not to post publicly, where if I type something asinine, there are people here I respect who will call me out on it.

They're upset about tunneling/camping? Congrats, you just gave the killer an easier match and rewarded him for tunneling/camping

I am officially done speaking to you. Cry all you want the fact that you block private messages means you just hear to stir trouble. I just don't care for anything else you have to say. Cry hard cry long no one cares.
I read this whole conversation, and I have some thoughts.
1. Why do you think slugging (which isn't against the rules and has no penalty) is comparable to disconnecting from the match (which is against the rules and does have a penalty)? I get that you don't like being slugged, but not liking something in the game doesn't make it comparable to something that is explicitly against the TOS of the game.
2. Why are you so certain people playing against you in a video game want to "ruin your day"? No matter what side I play, or even what game, I promise I don't think about anyone I played with 30 seconds after the match is over unless they are such toxic pieces of ######### that they stand out. I just don't think the level of Animus exists that you seem to believe does in this game. The person playing killer is out to get your character, not you as a person.
3. I replied to this post if yours specifically because it sounds like you didn't like how a discussion was going, so tried to talk ######### to someone in a private message only to find they disabled it. I'm hoping there's some other, less juvenile explanation, but I'm having serious difficulties thinking of one..

A perk(s) shouldn't be required to counter something overpowered.
If I remember correctly, Iron Maiden was buffed recently so this gives a high mobility killer an instant down.
These two perks are a lose-lose situation.
It isn't. It doesn't take a perk to move within the distance to the hook or hide behind a gen, either of which counter both perks
-
By hooking someone, then seeing the aura of someone that hasn't just been hooked and going after them? That's literally not how tunneling works.
-
@pizzaduffyhp90 said:
I never see anyone use Iron Maidon and BBQ together yes BBQ helps you find people quickly doesn't do that much against most killers anyway same with Iron Maidon it only shows the scream location not the aura of the survivor so in other words you can still easily avoid both perks cause the killer may go to that position but, you have plenty of time to avoid the dangers these perks have unless they're near you and you exit the locker at the wrong time. That'll be on you rather than the perk.
I actually do run this on doc from time to time, mainly because I always run IM on doc, as it synergizes excellently with his power, and some times I really need the extra BP.
-
@SilentShepherd said:
BBQ Chili = When you hook a survivor, all other survivors' aura are revealed to you if they are farther than 40m from the hook.
Iron Maiden = If a Survivor exits a Locker, they scream, revealing their location for 4 seconds and also inflicting the Exposed status effect for 30 seconds.
So..... either get your location revealed by BBQ Chili, or get revealed by Iron Maiden anyway along with Exposed status effect for 30s.
Awesome. No counterplay.
Unless you dedicate one slot permanently for Disruption. But Disruption only has 4 stacks and gets used up pretty quickly if the Killer has other aura revealing perks.
1. Get closer to the hook than 40m
2. Crouch and hide behind the gen
3. Boon: Shadow step
4. Disruption
5. Run one direction while you know your aura is revealed, double back after and walk to make sure you don't leave scratch marks.
And those are off the top of my head while celebrating the holiday in the traditional manner. 3 of them don't even require a specific perk to do.

Right now I'm finally finishing up Horizon Forbidden West (fantastic game, about to 100% it)
I play wwe2k22 a lot too, enjoying the career mode, which I haven't in one of these games since HCTP.
Also Fall Guys. Simple game, but for a guy like me who loves shows like Wipeout, Takeshi's Castle and Most Extreme Elimination, it's like a playable version of those shows.
Lastly, Hitman 3, really the entire trilogy since all the maps were ported over to the newest version each time (which has been excellent, and ensures the older awesome maps get the gameplay improvements they made along the way) not as much as I used to play, but I expect that to change in the next month or so when Freelancer mode comes out.

Scourge Hook: Floods Of Rage
You have to chase someone, down them, carry them to a Scourge Hook, and then wait for the unhook for the Perk to activate, at which point you would've already been in a chase so the info would've been pretty useless
Depends on the timing, which is different for each hook, much less each game, but yeah, it could really stand to have the effect lengthened or something to make it more generally useful, especially since as a perk that activates on unhook rather than hook, it's a perk that, were it powerful enough to be useful, would discourage camping in those who bring it.

Let's just ignore the cooldown, the basic attack requirement, the 32m range. Why am I even bothering with you people?
Cooldown - not an activation condition.
Range - also not an activation condition, literally just how large the effect is.
Basic attack - hey, that one is an activation requirement (as it is something you have to DO to Activate the perk). Probably one of the easiest, unless you're playing blight or huntress, in which case don't use the perk.
Now effect.
Hits all gens in a 32m radius, causing multiple to regress. That seems like a fairly powerful effect to me.
So again, what point were you hoping to prove with jolt as your example?

I think on paper it makes sense
You're securing a 2nd stage/kill on somebody while also using your perks and power to essentially grind the game to a halt. 45 seconds is only 15 seconds short of an entire hook state.
It's actually somewhat of a lose/lose situation because you can't dodge the crow spam while also working on the generator because DMS will block it when you let go, be it to dodge the second swarm or because you were injured by the second swarm. The main counterplay to killers who basically facecamp is rushing gens but the power + perk combination severely hinders the survivors ability to do this.
Again this is on paper
In actual games, there's a lot of other factors to consider, like being able to catch somebody before gens get done or survivors just bumrushing the hook and not allowing you an easy camp because of 2nd chance perks and so on.
Well stated
