I didn't say rank, I said ability. It would have to use an algorithm that keeps track of how well the individual player performs on gens. Basing anything other than matchmaking on rank in this game would be folly.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/957622#Comment_957622
It shouldn't be based on rank. If it were based on how gens are right now, it would be more along the lines of adjusting the difficulty based on the survivor's number of failed/good/great skill checks within the last 100 skill checks (for example). Something like that. Though, the way gens are right now is boring; gens should be updated so that they're more interesting for survivors. At this point, I try to avoid gens as much as I can when I play, because it's not fun holding down the trigger button all match; the killer basically has to force me to farm, otherwise I'll run around search chests cleanse totems and die.
You shouldn't be punished for being good at the game.

Next gen consoles should be able to handle this unoptimized bug we call a game.

She sucks at certain loops. She spent an entire gen chasing me at an unsafe pallet, then another at the shack and couldn't do anything.
I know she should've just left me for someone else, but the fact she can get looped AT THE SHACK is a bit ridiculous, given what her power is.
Huntress is supposed to excel at the shack game, must've been a bad huntress.

I feel a better potential way to make people stop doing other stuff before mending is to simply block certain actions while in DW. Obviously stuff like snapping out of T3 madness should be possible, perhaps unhooking as well (as you can unhook in T3 madness anyway) but not stuff like doing gens, breaking totems, healing others and so on.
I don't know anyone who decides to do a gen or totem before mending. Even if they did, it would rarely (if ever) make an impact that would justify nerfing it.

Or BHVR should also fix their game first.
Well since BHVR and that Wraith are two different people, I'd assume both could be done at the same time

At low ranks survivors lose because they are afraid to do the gens, if they fail a skill check they will hide anyway because they're afraid OMG the killer is gonna come here. They hide anyway so the gen is stopped in both cases, no change there really.
You banking on them just wanting to auto-hide every time kinda proves that it isn't a good idea. You're still making life for everyone except the people you want to target harder.

That's not the reason queues are bad, there's just a lack of killer's specifically red rank killers, and supposedly also a lack of rank 20-14 rank killers, making it averages again could lead to a lack of green killers. A good fix is to find out what's wrong in red ranks (and purple) and fix it.
I didn't say it would SOLVE the queue issues, but it definitely has an impact because now more lobbies than ever need a red rank killer since one red rank friend in the SWF team is being weighted the same as 4 red ranks looking for a game.

Well, red ranks make mistakes sometimes, propably because you can just try doing great skill checks all the time because there's not a big risk involved, you miss a skill check and just think mehhh whatever at least when you're around a good loop.

For every time a red rank survivor messes up once, a brown rank survivor will mess up like 5 times and no gens will ever get done.
You're gunning down a majority of the playerbase for something that will barely affect those you're trying to target.

As I said this would be a very minor change IMO but I can assure you at least once a match red rank survivor will make a mistake, now it's just you can proceed trying to do great skill check because there's not much of a risk but high reward, you see?

also why does it tell him where i am when exposing him? i legit died cause i looked in his direction without knowing he was there and instantly turned around and went for me
Being unable to reveal him is a pretty unfortunate bug that makes him way stronger than he should be.
Him also seeing where he's being looked at from is kinda lame, especially when it happens without you even meaning to look at him lol

They're reworking on doc so who knows what comes from it.. doc would be the only killer that maybe has too op ability, but I think it could be adjusted for this particular killer easily, somehow. huntress lullaby is hex so that would work a bit like a ruin at the moment and we could get use for that perk too, nobody uses it now..
This doesn't change that it's just going to make newer players suffer even more than they already do and not really affect who you want to be affected: the 3000 hour red rank players who can breeze through gens without missing a skillcheck.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
Gen difficulty/speed needs to scale with survivor ability. Inexperienced survivors struggle to complete gens while experienced survivors breeze through them; the game needs to slow down experienced survivors without negatively affecting inexperienced survivors.
Impossible unless you just nerf gen speed based on rank and that's lame.

@leno said:
Hitting a normal skillcheck is not that hard for even new players, it's the tension that makes you make more mistakes, you would get used to as new player very soon, regarding seasoned players, failed skill checks happen, currently good survivors just thinks mehh and proceeds doing the gen anyway, when pressured they would need to focus more. The amount time gained with great skill checks can be crucial in some games also. Now survivors complain pressing M1 is boring, this would at least create some tension.
I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but this would just further the divide even more between solo queue and my 4 man SWF team that I know can hit skill checks.
Also, things like impossible skillchecks Doc would just be hostage games at that point.

@leno said:
I think it's fair to say that most people agree that gen speed is somewhat an issue, right?
I have one simple idea that I think would be fair for both sides. Here goes.. gen speed stays the same... but when you fail a skill check you can't work the generator for let's say 8-10 seconds? When someone is using a toolbox the gen stop could be few seconds longer. This would allow killers to actually check gens that are farther away because it wouldn't be that safe for survs to just proceed doing the gen if they make a mistake, some maps are big you know. Killer actually has a fair change to slow gens particularly when there's 2 people doing the gen. This would also make the risk doing great skill checks higher, this makes a big difference timewise sometimes and it would make survivors focus more and not just drool when doing gens. Also I think this would 100% reduce tunneling at least a fair amount.
When ruin is up the effect would stay the same, making just good skill checks would not stop you from doing the gen longer than it is currently. If you fail at it you have to leave the gen essentially..
This way everything would be a bit more skill based but the gen speed would be the same, fair right? I think it would be step in the right direction. What would you guys think?
This just makes life as a low rank even harder than it already is and life as a high rank the exact same.

Yeah matchmaking sucks especially during the holidays. My friends and I are taking a break from swf until double bp since we already have our offerings stocked up. Someone's gonna have to play survivor during double bp 🤣
I wish it was just the holidays.
I really think the SWF averaging being removed had a significant impact on the survivor red rank queue issue, but that's just a theory I suppose.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
What do you think about using the highest rank but a +1 modifier for each of their mates 4 or more ranks higher than them. That way a rank 2, 4, 6, 8 squad would look for rank 4 and a rank 1,1,1, 10 squad would look for rank 2. Combined with the +-6 already in place matchmaking would be sped up even if just a little bit.
Literally anything would be better than nothing at this point.
2 red ranks playing with their yellow rank friends take up a red rank killer slot and everyone has an unfun match while I wait even longer in queue for my red rank killer to show up.
Then the system proceeds to give up after 10 mins and put me against a purple or green killer and I proceed to have an unfun match.

The chase thing makes sense, I think the timer also has some sort of cooldown as well, I don't play Freddy though so I don't know what the timer pause is or the time taken to fall asleep from game start.
The timer cooldown isn't slow enough imo. He even gets his teleport back faster the more survivors that are asleep, and it's rare that you aren't with the stupid timer unless you run across the map and use the box.
-
@luka2211 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/957551#Comment_957551
Passive dream state is a pretty important thing,otherwise survivors would quite literally never fall asleep except when they get hit.And then someone else wakes them up for free and for no penalty the first time,which means no one is in the dream state except 1 survivor at the time thats being chased probably.Dream world is good for sneaking up on survivors cause of the lullaby and actually using snares which you'd be able to use only when you hit someone which would be dumb,i don't see that becoming a thing,and snares aren't that much bigger than they visually look either
Maybe it doesn't have to be removed entirely, but it should take longer and not go down during chase imo.
Also, snare's hitboxes extend further than you think. I can squeeze past it and still get hit every time.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:

You know if they remove passive dream state they're putting it on an add on.
Maybe they don't have to remove it, but it should take longer and the timer shouldn't tick when in chase at least.

No amount of slowdown perks can stop survivors on maps like Blood Lodge, Thompsons House, Rotten FIelds, Haddonsfield, Disturbed Ward, Mothers Dwelling, Ormond, and many more.
I've seen it happen plenty of times.

I am a survivor main and i feel gen speed is way too quick even with 2 people with no speed increase and stuff. 1 person feel about right but 2 ( Idk how it is with 3 or 4 but it must be quicker) is light speed
The gens go faster in general if people don't work on the gens together. Them working together is actually more beneficial for the killer (Except in certain situations like prove thyself or it's a mid gen).

BHVR wants to balance around 2kill 2escape. Their emblem system is just not working for that balance. So i'm gonna point out, that kills have nothing to do with wins as long as the emblem system does the same.
Gens shouldn't take longer, but another primary objective to complete together with gens would be nice.
Yes, emblem system needs to be fixed.

I'm a casual. I could care less about rank or wins. I'm a red rank killer for the first time right now and I hate it. I'm out skilled by quite a wide margin.
If you want to not go against red rank tryhards, I'd think you'd actually want to play the toolbox matches and derank then, no?

Kill rate. Kills have nothing to do with wins so...what's your point again?
My point is killers are doing just fine. BHVR wants a 2 kills 2 escapes game and killers are getting over 50%.
Plus if gens were to take longer, all the gen regress perks would need to be looked at. Having current gen regress perks AND longer gens is just annoying.
