It would be cool if the amount of pallets on the map changed to the killer thats in play

Blight may get more where ghostface would get less, maybe its a bad idea but on the surface atleast its good

I dunno why ideas like this always get silently pushed down without proper consideration.

Would it be difficult to recode map tilings to change with the killer? Sure, but it likely isn't impossible given the seeming implication work was done on a Walking Dead tile spawning on specific maps only when WD survivors were in the match, before the idea was scrapped into a map instead (just speculation though tbh and they'd need to actually finish and expand the mechanic)

If a change like this was made correctly however, it could allow for changing action oriented killers like Hillbilly and Blight to stay with their nice feeling controls whilst getting a pallet count to be more in line with other options, and lower on the totem pole killers that are still beloved like Ghostface could keep their beloved kits without getting power creeped.

It could even extend beyond pallets to perhaps more subtle but directed level design. On an indoor map as a ranged or dash killer? Maybe the halls could be a bit more open and less cluttered. On a wide open map as a stealth killer? Add some more trees and sightblockers.

  • This is tiring. First some maps get absolutely overloaded with pallets, now they've simply vanished?

I just want to play the game man

  • Literally all this is missing is a comm about coordinating unhooks and I'm convinced Solo Q would be twice as bearable as it currently is.

Edit: Imma be real it seems like the Comm wheel idea is popular on other posts and I didn't get any replies so it kinda feels like people just didn't read what I wrote here and hit downvotes cause of the wording. Idk though that sounds like a pompous thing to say.

  • Might be unfun, but I feel like DnD Vecna and ST Vecna works fine without adding too many letters. Lets them both keep their names.

Right back at you, not providing anything useful to the topic.

    A. My reply was longer than a sentence.

    B. I did mention the topic, I said it was completely arbitrary and based solely on the status effects being called Infections.

    C. You can't make an argumentative reply with no relation to your topic and then get mad when other people focus on that instead of your point.

    D. Wemker.

  • One sentence non replies and your whole argument is a false equivalence about entirely different effects because they're both called Infections.

Feels like the average Tuesday around here tbh.

More content for Silent Hill or at least updated surv models and I’m happy

Silent Hill f or Silent Hill 1 would make for excellent sequel chapters. I hope this is something the game explores more of, although it might be risky to tie so much content to 1 licence holder.

    @Linkdouken said:

Is the next one licensed? I'd still like to see The Predator, The Thing, Candyman and Jason but I don't think it'll be any of those yet. I do think the popularity of Terrifier has probably made Behaviour consider adding Art at some point

We're in for a full on Double Survivor, Map, and Killer licensed chapter next. I think we'll definitely get Art at some point, although he doesn't have a solid choice for a second survivor imo (maybe the brother that dies off screen)

Looks like whatever we are getting is going to be a big one in expectation, which is probably what prompted it to be delayed.

  • I just don't like the idea of it. This is Horror Media: The Video Game™, the Killers primary objective should be to kill.

Beyond that, splitting off kills from counting victories will probably just create a bigger disconnect between how the devs balance the game vs how the community wants to play it.

  • I don't think I've died with, escaped with, or killed a Haddie in at least 3 months.

Still so weird to me that they hyped up this super sick monster hunter urban fantasy character, and then decided 'hey how bout we add a multiverse version of her with none of that' and then gave her literally no cosmetics or lore afterwards. Haddie got done dirty man.

New Predator movie out, so that's a possibility. We got the Alien license so it's only a matter of time. Stranger Things could also be an option since it's the final season, so best time for everyone involved to cash in again on the franchise. Other than those, I'm drawing a blank.

I could see Predator for sure, I just struggle to imagine who the second survivor would be. There is support for Dutch and Naru, and a double chapter with them and the Jungle Hunter (with a Feral Predator skin) sounds fire, but idk, it would be a bit weird to add two characters together from entirely separate time periods.

It does seem like Stranger Things is lined up for the next chapter, although my only caveat is that I'm not sure BHVR would want to make new deals with them after the first fiasco. Definitely seems like the people's choice (which is tough competition when RE is on the table)

yall realize you can just choose to not press the button, right? nothing bad happens if the button is there and you don't press it

"Are you aware that if you simply don't use a button that affects the game when it's available to you, it won't change anything? "

People are asking about why the devs recognize this situation as one that needs specific access to the abandon feature, and whether it should change with the upcoming anti-tunnel changes. Are you aware that literally none of that line of thinking is at all related to the button being optional?

  • This really does encapsulate the problem perfectly. "People who play games casually deserve to have fun" being a statement 1 in 5 people took issue with sums up why Downvotes just aren't useful beyond spreading negativity.

  • Feels like the people arguing Unknown is fine are only talking about his power in concept. He didn't get nicknamed The Harmless by content creators and Twitter because he's a middle of the road to above average pick.

In potential? He has a lot to work with for his ranged attack to injure and his Hallucinations provide quick and reliable stage control provided you learn setup.

In execution? If you don't hit at least 3/4 of your shots it's often a liability to go for your power over just an M1, and as great as hallucinations are they can still be dispelled by survivors who are being attentive.

This often makes him a killer who simply can get punished for existing. In my opinion, he could use some buffs.

Chucky has a terror radius addon too, would he be able to do the same?

Chucky loses 8m off his Tr when on cooldown with Strobe Light, Monitor removes another 8m out of chase, and new Furtive takes off 3.2m with every hook if it's really 10%.

That means with 5 stacks of new Furtive and conditions met on Monitor and Strobe Light, he should have a Tr of 0. Bear in mind this is without Silk Pillow taking off 6m in exchange for neutering Slice and Dice, so he's probably the killer to try builds like this on going forward.

  • I wanted another Terror Radius Perk to use alongside Monitor for the longest time, it's a shame the old Furtive had to go for me to get that wish.

Since the old perk gave 10% haste, idk why it can't give 5% to stack with Bloodlust, seems like a weird line to draw.

Should honestly just have redesigned a bad perk or made a new one with this effect.

  • It was something a lot of people were thinking so don't beat yourself up about it. I think a lot of people are thinking it's ST part 2 or Re part 3, with now seemingly a third camp that once again thinks it's Predator.

Between the three of them, it feels like things are lining for St or Re but I personally think Predator would be a sick addition.

"There's no reason he should be 4.4 in stalker mode other than boring stealth plays" there's your reason

"Boring stealth plays" I'm sorry but did I fall into the alt universe where Dash Powers are considered interesting and where Michael F***ing Myers isn't literally the second oldest Stealth Killer and considered the most tried and true in the archetype behind maybe Ghostface.

If you find Stealth plays boring play like literally any of the last killers they released in the past three years, even newer stealth killers give you a ton to work with in this regard.

Calling the core appealing aspect of Myers boring isn't justification for thinking an addon that was previously basekit shouldn't be, and this is honestly starting to feel more like bad ragebait than anything else.

There's no reason he should be 4.4 in stalker mode other than boring stealth plays, you have one mode for going faster and one mode for stalking, use pursuer is you want to move faster

This comment contains no actual reason why Myers shouldn't be 4.4 basekit and instead just says "one mode is for fast one mode is for slow."

Myers previously had this speed in Tier 1, and the addon that buffs his speed back to that level is already one of his most popular, so you complaining he shouldn't be that fast period is just at odds with how the game previously has and currently works.

I see no reason Myers shouldn't be 4.4 in Stalker Mode.

So, an update with a Myers BUFF is here!

And it covers some of the bases very nicely.

This helps with several awful parts of his power, like how it's so short and easily pre-runable, and you don't lose out on the Pursuer bonuses anymore…

Why are they adding Camera Sensitivity to the dash if they then immediately note it's going to be removed later??

Aside from that, solid. Let's him keep the Swap Stance of the Rework whilst reverting all the awful nerfs they made to his attributes. With the addon that removes Slaughtering Strike he should be buffed Old Myers in concept.

We'll have to see how this plays and what adjustments should be made afterwards, but this does look promising.

  • Legit actually thought this was a joke for a sec.

Idk what to even make of this. They're literally just wrong. Objectively. Mathematically. About something so specific that anyone who actually understands the topic immediately understands it.

Like, the effect is unnoticeable, not by accident, they literally killed it on purpose and said as such. How is this an official communication?

  • Wish I was still playing on the same Xbox account from launch, think my current one was created around Singularity.

i wish survivors had something similar, "just hook/pick up"
but alas the closest we will ever get to is conviction, which honestly is busted and too abusable, probably going to be gutted in the next patches.

twd chapter is looking quite sad.

I think I'm still mostly upset with the map. I was already disappointed the FNAF map was half just reused forest, so when they then released a map that 98% reused forest assets, it really dropped my faith in BHVR's map aesthetics.

Jamie Lee Curtis is proud of being part of the Halloween franchise, and always gives it credit for giving her the career she has. I don't think she would have any objections to her likeness being used. Its a matter of cost. Same as with Sigourney Weaver as Ripley. The reason Dbd's Ripley looks nothing like her isn't because Weaver hates the Alien Franchise (she doesn't). Its because it would be very pricey to get her likeness.

The Halloween Chapter licenced in DBD is only for the first movie. Even the couple cosmetics they have are based off a comic book series, and Laurie's face is based off those comics rather than Jamie Lee Curtis too.

Unfortunately, when asked about potential collabs to get more movie content like Myers with the 2018 Mask and Old Laurie, the response was that even if BHVR is on good terms with both the OG movie licence holders (successfully partnered since 2016) and the makers of the modern trilogy (making a movie with Blumhouse + FNAF Chapter support), BHVR "has an understanding" with the licence holders that lets them get the current Halloween content in the game and it does seem like we'll see anything else.

Kinda sad, but I'd be fine if this rework ends up sticking the landing and we can still get Myers in 2v8 sometime down the line.

  • Unrelated to the wider conversation but this is why I love killers with a form of "just leave" built into their power. There's honestly nothing more therapeutic than dragging someone from the exit gates because they were cocky enough to Teabag a Deathslinger or Wesker while injured.

  • Nobody really knows. It was designed to emulate a playable horror movie, and has changed priorities so much over the years it's kinda impossible to call it a wholly casually game. Still, it's also insane to categorize it as a comp title imo.

There is and always has been such a massive difference in the power dynamic depending on the killer, map, perks, addons, etc. that regardless of you or your opponents skill level, your chances of winning the match can change wildly before it even starts.

That makes it very different from a game like Chess where there's always an even playing field before the match starts, and even unlike a more modern example like Overwatch where the maps tend to be more neutral and the characters are swapped on the fly to encourage adaptability. A DBD match is stuck with it's imbalance and it's up to the side handed the short end of the stick to beat the odds. This happens in pretty much every asym game and I'd wager it's why they don't tend to get taken seriously competitively most of the time.

On the other side of the token though, who on earth analyzes a casual game to this level? Tier lists, strategy guides, patch notes, concept pitches. There exists hundreds of thousands of hours analyzing DBD because every second in a high level DBD match matters. You can't say that about Mario Party.

  • I agree with the idea that S tier Killers like Blight and Nurse have been too overpowered for far too long and need some adjustments.

I also agree that newly released Killers like Krasue and Kaneki are overtuned to an unfun degree and need readjustments to fall back in line.

I do not consider Wesker anyway near those 4 in power. His Dash ability and infection mechanic keep him manageable yet threatening, and I'd even say he's one of the best balanced killers in the game against experienced and inexperienced teams respectively.

  • I like this idea as an addon that would change his power rather than a rework that replaces it. As others have said, Unknown has found his niche in the roster and Dash powers + Pallet scampers have become extremely frowned upon as of late

Still, there were a lot of people expecting a more scare focused take on Unknown moreso resembling the marketing, and I think this concept encapsulates that quite well. This idea sounds fun with a stealth build too

  • Just makes me sad. Stealth builds based around lowering the TR instead of gaining undetectable were fun. Monitor and Dead Rabbit on Myers was one of my favorite "shut your brain off" builds. They killed that build twice over now…

  • It kinda feels like survivors just expect better killers on average now.

I used to run a 1 slowdown whatever else build pretty frequently on most of my stealth killers, but that usually isn't enough to beat the increased general coordination of a lot of teams nowadays.

Could be a skill issue on my end, but I often find myself around 6 hooks at 1 gen if I just shut my mind off and play casually, enough to maybe snag a kill or two, but challenging enough to feel like the survivors walked in expecting harsher perks or a Dracula and got bored with me.

I usually gotta lock in for that 3k, unless it's one of those over in five seconds kinda matches. I wish DC's were less frequent. The amount of times I've seen three survivors almost escape but get screwed just because Meg couldn't handle playing on Death Hook at 3 gens and subbed out for a bot halfway into the match is infuriating.

Edit: Think I posted on the wrong thread. Pallet changes have exacerbated the problem I talk about a lot though. I agree that these changes should have been on select maps like Haddonfield instead of game wide.

While obviously private matters should stay private, I'm not trying to vilify y'all for that, a statement at least addressing the wider thread eliminates any room for misunderstanding.

Man, what a trashfire. If I've learned anthing about dbd players from this thread, its that they don't understand subtext

What subtext? You said "buffing the small hindrances in mostly fine killers is how we got Krasue :D"

At best, the point to take away from that is 'don't overbuff killers that can still perform well, even if people consider them weak.' Which, okay, fine, sure.

At worst, it's looking at everyone talking about Springtrap changes and going "No." ...Well why? "Krasue." She has nothing to do Powerwise with Springtrap. "Dumpster Fire thread."

Idk what to say to this, but that's probably because of my inability to read subtext. Please enlighten me.

  • I think it really comes down to three details for me:

-Dirty Cloth for fabric instead of the concept art's sleek linen. Muddies the overall aesthetic.

-Mass of mouths and hands underneath the sheet ghost. Rigid, shows off too much and is too visible.

-The extra set of scissors that:

    a) can't be used to attack ingame

    b) cause the unnecessary screen clutter

    c) aren't in the concept art

    d) hide Dredge from seeing his adaptive Lantern (WHY)

I think everyone is on mostly the same page here. The concept art was perfect, they should just try again and stick closer to it.

  • The devs should rapidly increase the amount of bug fixes going through and consider delaying and slowing newer content until the player base and flow of gameplay return to normal.

At the current rate things are going, the amount of short term profits BHVR is getting with half baked chapter releases like Krasue are being dwarfed by the amount of players who will likely put the game down and cease spending money on it.

In reality, we'll probably get the 1-2 thirds of the bugs fixed and nothing will change except the player base dwindles or stays stable based off of new chapters flashing big ips. I hate to say it, but this could be the end of my 9 years with the game, so soon after they added my all time biggest want in Springtrap no less. I hope things improve soon.

  • Man, new content is lackluster, bugs are increasing, recent cosmetics are mid, balance changes are controversial, integrity in responses are becoming more and more questionable. Put simply, people are getting burnt out.

There's still time to rebound, and I can only hope the next chapter is a W, but there's a lot to do and the direction hasn't been great as of late. The most TLC I've seen from the devs in recent memory has been to Claudette's chest.

The 28 days/weeks/years is NOT a zombie movie. Depends which one you would wish to see in the game as 28 years later sucked big time. It is a rage virus, they vomit up blood, get infected and go on a rage destructive path, they do not go for brains, eat people, move slow and do not go for brains, those in 28 days etc later are NOT corpses etc. Same as world war Z, again they are NOT zombies.

I feel like this is splitting hairs a bit. Sure, they lack a lot of the classic zombie hallmarks, but they still pretty clearly are based in that genre and fit the formula for infected humans that begin animalisticaly attacking each other.

The director himself doesn't consider 28 Days a Zombie movie, so you are correct and I wanna make that clear, but scrolling down the Wikipedia article, every single outside reception piece calls it a zombie movie and even how it caused a resurgence in the genre. I don't think the original post is out of line for calling one, y'know?

"The killer is mostly fine but has a bunch of annoyances that should be removed" is how we got Krasue :D

So your stance is genuinely "even if they even try to buff the small nuisances of Springtrap he will inevitably become an S+ tier nightmare akin to Krasue?"

I swear someone here could ask for the smallest most menial addition and someone will still respond "um actually the devs are completely incapable of that and in trying will blow up the game."

Like genuinely, the post you're replying to specifies "little hindrances" in its hypothetical, and you still extended that to "buff him to the best killer in the game."

  • I am once again advocating that Chucky regain Window Scamper while in Hidey Ho Mode (not pallet scamper).

It is a special vault specifically made to not play the survivor vault noise that Chucky has that made mind games and surprise attacks easier.

Now that it can only be activated by Slice and Dice, it is pointless as an ability. The devs even didn't remove it from the PTB where Manual Scamper was removed and nobody complained because it was a no brainier.

I agree fully that Pallet scamper on Chucky should have gone, but I genuinely hate that he doesn't even have an addon that lets him use the stealth vault for its intended purpose.

(I would talk about Krasue but I've said enough)

  • I wish Springtrap could use his different knives without swapping skins at least, as I really like the texture error on Glitchtrap's knife despite wanting to play as base Springtrap the majority of the time.

From the little image they showed off, it looks like Blightrap is taking inspiration from the Nightmare Animatronics, which is a really solid choice imo

Hopefully there are no clipping or audio issues

  • I hope they keep the current framework of the rework but revert the stalk and tr nerfs and remove slaughtering Strike in favor of how his old tier 3 worked, kinda like the Iri addon he has.

when 2 survivors are left, clearly both have lost and acknowledge that so they wont do gens…. at that point its every man for themselves. 1 will throw the other under the bus so they can get hatch….the one being thrown under the bus may hope to escape via playing a lovely bardic tune for the killer so they spare them and go for the other instead, many have actually said killers seem to let these survivors escape. it works both ways, both want the other to die first. cant complain about 1 but then do the other yourself

Nah, running up and selling your teammate out is totally different from getting the killer to spare you through bardic imo. I'm referring to active survivor betrayal, just because your mate needs to die to escape doesn't mean you should get them killed.

In my experience at least, I've often seen killers strike down a survivor for selling the other one out. The bro code has been alive and well in the well in the realm of the Entity

  • One of those skins that feels like a new killer, happy that everyone who was asking for a grizzly bear got their wish!

  • If there are two survs left and it's clear the gens aren't being done, I don't see what else you're really expected to do except rat for hatch.

Selling out teammates is just lame, I'd rather try to to go down in a spot where the killer has to spend time walking back so the last survivor has a bit more of a chance.

  • Not dissing anyone's opinion since I like some PTB arrangements more than live (PH's is fire), but certain arrangements like Xenomorph's were initially lambasted by the community at large and compared to a washing machine.

I have no issue with a toggle for PTB arrangements though, sounds like a good way to give everyone what they want.

they are always so careful when changing ######### m1 killers but then release Krause and ghoul

Yeah fr. They gave Myers a Swiss army knife of changes where he mostly got the short end of the stick, and then in the same breath gave Krasue like 8 big buffs after general consensus was that that she was janky but still extremely viable.

    Just feels out of touch.

  • I wish they would give it another charge and equalise it's effectiveness across maps to the best of their ability. Not sure where to go from there, but yeah, it is sad that this item had a lot of hype behind it and was immediately buried before even it's major bugs could be fixed.

  • Average affair for the internet, but yeah, definitely not something I'd like to wake up to again. These are going to be grown adults someday, if they aren't already, gore posting over a game is one of the more pathetic things a person can do.

  • Could we have a statement from a community manager about potentially having down votes removed?

Feels like it just contributes to the negative culture around the community, as it's easy to see comments get no feedback but lots of downvotes whilst a "Killer/survivor is AWFUL and ALWAYS HAS BEEN and BHVR STOLE MY LUNCH MONEY and KICKED MY DOG" comment will get 7 or 8 likes just cause it was sent under an actually valid problem that needs attention.

I get it, I think we all do. This game is far from perfect and there are plenty of reasons to be less than satisfied with the way it's been handled over the years. There's genuinely so much whining on this forum it makes me wonder why a some of the users here haven't quit after week 2. DBD has always been a frustrating experience, but it feels more and more like player behavior is becoming a bigger part of that frustration than game mechanics are (not for lack of trying though)

I hope the situation improves enough for you to rejoin us eventually, and I definitely don't blame you for calling it here. See you in the fog!
