  • I think on a base level, without even considering the new job position and BHVR's insistence that Ai will not make it into the final game, I cannot approve of BHVR using AI to snot out concept art for Tomb Raider and DnD.

That work should have gone to an actual person being paid money, and to see how much the final product resembles that concept art trained off of stolen images…

It honestly makes me mad to see BHVR act so anti Ai but seemingly ignore these instances of them using it maliciously. When people were talking about the death of creative integrity and the loss of jobs, this is what they meant. Ai can be used for good things, but so far, BHVR hasn't used it right.

  • I really don't like the trend of addons that were meant to represent some of the most important items to a killer in lore being reduced in rarity for gameplay reasons. Addon effects are often swapped or changed with reworks or just for being problematic, so I don't see why it shouldn't be the same here.

I'd rather Fragrant Tuft or Hair get a new effect and its rarity be kept the same. They've done this kind of change with a few killers in the past, and I've always found it irritating.

  • As many others have said, it's simply the pool getting bigger the more Killers are added to it. Krasue is our fortieth if I'm not mistaken, meaning in just two and a half years you could genuinely play 50 different matches and face a wholly unique horror each time.

Kinda wild isn't it? Unfortunately means Afton is probably never gonna be as common as a lot of the old killers were back in the day, but I still see him often enough to not be salty about it. It's most surreal getting chased by him around Swamp cause of how unchanged it is.

  • I feel like nobody was complaining about Hope, as even if it is one of the strongest permanent buffs a survivor can get, it comes at the cost of being dead weight until you're already at the finish line. I hope they revert this.

  • I know ai helpers are frowned upon by many for power design, but I would totally take like a Dalek that has an AI Cyberman and Weeping Angel roaming the map the same way Nemesis's zombies do, or a Cybermen with a Dalek and Weeping Angel.

It would be a little thematically all over the place, but I think it'd be cool to let out more than just one of Doctor Who's rogues gallery.

As for SCP, while that would genuinely be one of my most hype additions, I believe it's already been said to be impossible due to how Creative Commons Listening works, straight from the devs themselves too.

  • I can't think of anything to say except I hope you'll be okay. That simply sounds awful.

  • Seems like a big one. Base game overhaul, the OG licenced killer being reworked, the most body horror from a new killer we've seen so far, new perks with them and the survivor, along with the whole slew of perk changes we usually get.

I'm def looking forward to hopping on later today!

  • Same, I loved restrained wall hacks but not being as slow as molasses. 4m is literally nothing.

  • I think there should be a form of counterweight that measures how survivors are doing in relation to the killers six hooks, cause yeah, losing situations as killer can feel down right hopeless as is and killing someone before 6 hooks is often a last resort many killers have to fall on when placed on the back foot in matches, which can happen regardless of skill level. Maybe an enraged mechanic if a killer has nobody on death before all gens are done, but that would be its own headache to fine-tune tbf

  • I mean we just got FNAF and Walking Dead, and there was already a ton of base game funk keeping people from talking about the new chapter; especially considering stuff like Grimoire being open and speculation about the new licence after this chapter.

Add in the slugging and tunneling changes and even stuff like the new 2v8 iteration? There's just so much to talk about that a lot people here heard "there's gonna be a new Asian folklore chapter" and went "yeah that sounds cool" instead of jumping back on the speculation wagon.

  • @Mandy said:

The most frustrating part about The Ghoul from survivor side, was his "kidnap tech", by removing that we feel that this will open the door for survivors to have counterplay to the killer, we've already seen this happening amongst survivors even with kidnap tech.

Could y'all just stop saying stuff so matter of factly when it is clearly up for debate?

"The most frustrating part about The Ghoul from the survivor side was his kidnap tech"

According to who? Cause that isn't a popular sentiment among the community, and you haven't explained why it's his most frustrating aspect, so everyone with some other form of complaint looks at this otherwise perfectly valid statement and thinks "well what about xyz" which is exactly what ended up happening.

Like come on, in light of recent community missteps, could you seriously just not have said "one of the Ghoul's most frustrating aspects" and sidestepped the issue entirely? This kind of reply just fuels a negative community response.

  • ...they're gonna bring back my little oni with this, aren't they? Seems like such a missed opportunity if not.

  • With Myers rework soon and Leatherface not leaving, it doesn't seem like we're in danger of losing the Boogeyman thankfully.

With Gun Media's reputation, there probably would've been a riot if we did lose our first ever licence. No matter what you think of the DBD devs, the Texas Chainsaw situation was something else entirely.

They had The Backrooms on a survey, though I have no idea how the licensing works with that.

I think it's just Public Domain. The original post on 4chan was by someone anonymous, and there are high scale projects in the works like console ports of games and a movie by Kane Pixels and Leigh Whannell. It doesn't seem like there is any controlling entity that owns the IP or even a community committee that manages it as creative commons like SCP, so I think that makes it Public Domain by default?

Regardless, the Backrooms would make a cool map, since it could either be played like the Entity using the outskirts of reality for the trials or a memory recreation of people who got lost in the rooms. It's one of the few IPs that doesn't need a survivor or killer to be represented, so I'd totally be down with it being fit in to the roadmap as a smaller scale inclusion, especially since we haven't gotten a new realm in a hot minute.

Ahhh, I love it. I can smell the haters from here. Patch 1.0.4 was when they added teachable perks….sadly this wasn't with launch.

I can smell something, and it stinks. This reply is not just wrong, but worded in a way that makes me think you actually went back and asked the AI if it was right, and blindly trusted it a second time when it lied to your face. Perks and the way they function are hard coded into DBD and Teachables were always the intended progression system to ensure Meta Survivors didn't exist.

Please, just stop asking robots to back you man, they don't know what they're doing.

  • Learn to substantiate opinions yourself instead of making a robot poorly do it for you. If I wanted to have someone whose not real tell me everything I want to hear in exchange for burning down a rainforest, I'd have done it myself.

  • I'd redesign it so that rather being 2 random perks on each side every month, the shrine is personalized to 4 perks on each side for characters you don't have unlocked. Not the best fix, but one of the best that I can imagine BHVR realistically doing.

  • ...did you really ask an Ai to back you up and post it back onto the forum thinking it was a gotcha?

Man, whu don't we phone in Tay Ai and Grok and consult the whole council of robot overlords, since actually substantiating our opinions is too much effort nowadays.

  • This is a good idea for Ghostface too imo. Helps them traverse the map and works for surprise attacks, I like it!

  • This is a step in the right direction, but we'll have to see some tangible results before trust is rebuilt with the community. Do what you guys gotta do to get the game back on track.

  • Wait, so this wasn't a years long fix that they needed to rework significant parts of the game for, it was just a relatively simple step added to connecting they were able to add like a week after it caused them strife?

    ...I'm just glad it's fixed.

  • All they had to do was make them not have literally infinite charges or an extremely short cool down. This opacity nerf is wayyy too much off the top in addition to neutering the item to 2 charges. Jeez, it's just one blow after another.

  • More servers is better ping for all, I hope this happens.

  • I just wanna use Ichorous Loam to play on Freddy's or maybe once in a blue moon get to try the new map, think I've gotten the realm twice after playing about 20 matches in the past couple days.

  • It feels like there's this sense of entitlement that's come from the devs as of late, like just because the community is toxic they have this special right to ignore wider sentiments or game breaking bugs.

"Nobody should know about the Killswitch, let's kick the spectators Otz brings on because they aren't team BHVR, there are currently way worse bugs than Streetwise, etc." What have you all, as developers and team managers and as a company as a whole, genuinely made that makes you thinking acting in this manner is acceptable?

Cause here's the thing, DBD is it. If this game goes under, if this player base does give up the goose, if some big controversy does hit the servers that causes major licence holders to lit out, BHVR is cooked and at this point I think everyone knows that. So why stoke the fire? Why poke the bear? You aren't some massive monolithic company like Nintendo that can handle making decisions broadly unpopular to average consumer. If people lose interest in new chapters, then put up the chairs and remember to turn the lights off before you go.

Walking Dead and FNAF were W's basically handed to the devs on a silver platter, the fact that this has turned into one of the sadder sets of releases is infuriating for what seemed like the game's finest hour.

  • It honestly just feels like they have way too many things on their plate. Can't stop making skins cause they have the highest cost/profit ratio. Can't stop making chapters cause they bring new players. Can't stop making Modes cause they're extremely popular.

Whenever a bug pops into one of these new chapters or years old cosmetics because there's so much of it being made it's impossible to run every variable through QA, it takes weeks to fix because of how consoles patches work.

The best way to handle this is more active use of the Killswitch on misbehaving features and delaying patches that break large parts of the game so they can be fixed, but even those are bandaids to the wider issue that is the fact this product is the video game equivalent of building another floor on top of the leaning tower of Pisa every three months.

  • It feels like since Springtrap was so highly requested, as were the calls for him to have an axe, combined with the fact what seemed like his obvious archetype in stealth is pretty unfavored in today's meta, that they just decided to give him a pretty safe range and mobility design to make sure most killer mains could get behind his gameplay.

Honestly? It works for me better than it should considering I spent years badmouthing almost this exact power idea. I do still wish he had an addon that disabled the axe so he could have a full best of both worlds option for people wanting a more classic FNAF approach to the trials.

I also wanna bring up a big missed opportunity on the map not having a secret saferoom showing where he was springlocked. It should absolutely be there given the Pizzeria is an entity recreation from memory and it was literally where he died. The easter eggs this map kinda feel lame compared to other licences. No missing children's flyers replacing some wall posters? The animatronics don't sometimes ooze blood/mucus? No secret 'it's me' replacing text on the map? No Golden Freddy apparition or even a reference to the Puppet I think? I do still love this collab and think it got the broad strokes right of what it needed to do, but man, missed opportunities a plenty.

  • Pretty sure Otz was talking about getting his mods to fills the spectator slots on stream, weird that it never happened. Very avoidable issue.

  • Being an M1 Killer with no power is too rewarding? I see your point that he is benefitting in situations where he misses, but it's not like he's getting free hits or insane time saves, rather just literally taking the regular stats any killer has.

Getting hit by a Springtrap after he throws the axe and misses isn't some "wow, how'd that happen" moment. You got hit by a killer playing the game regularly.

  • @Caiman said:

Why mods haven't just outright banned the tribalism posts is beyond me. They are always made in bad faith, be it to ragebait or attack other people, they never lead to productive conversations, they're never mature and respectful, they contribute literally nothing positive to the forum and only serve to foster a hostile and toxic discussion environment. It's just kids screaming at each other on playgrounds because it's someone else's turn with the ball.

This genuinely. These posts add nothing and are basically just bait to attract more arguing. It's a common trend to see users just spew nastiness for 200-400 posts before being banned, and after a certain point you really have to wonder if they were contributing anything to begin with.

I don't wanna say "just ban people more often" since honestly I think one of the problems here is seeing passionate users who've been here for years get banned like they were chump change, but it also feels like there's a lot of low blows that are just accepted because it's how the community acts, when tbh it just ends up feeling like the worst of both worlds sometimes.

  • Thank you, this is exactly what I think the community was looking for, in both short term fixes and long term statements.

  • I agree fully. "No one should have been told about the kill switch" is legitimately revolting to hear given it's literally the only communication we have from BHVR. This game has HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF MICROTRANSACTIONS. The implication that community backlash is so bad that a mod now feels they simply shouldn't have replied is just embarrassing.

This isn't how a company sells and manages a product, it's how a brand tries to minimize damage.

  • Having one perk available for a few weeks is not worth the harm it's doing to player experience and community relations.

It's a relatively easy bug that severely affects the balance of matches. Developers, please, use the Killswitch feature you made and be done with it. Nobody cares if it doesn't fit the nebulous and vague criteria, it's ruining matches.

  • Feels like we're circling the drain sometimes, hovering over the edge on the forums and in game. I feel like I've seen less and less users around here with over a 1000 posts, and the discussions are about as passive to regular aggressive as ever.

I really do love being in the community for this game, but it's starting to feel more and more like that passion is being turned into a hollow way to flash a popular IP and sell a 15$ skin than actually have fun with a video game that otherwise is a pipedream come true.

I'm sad that I can't be much more than disappointed in the game as of late.

  • Have not gotten to play the map on live, but if it's still the same as PTB then I don't think I've missed much. The handling of this map/tile has been extremely disappointing from both a communication and gameplay standpoint imo.

  • I feel like a lot of the people arguing fog vials are currently fine and functioning as intended simply haven't hopped on live and tested them. They're extremely buggy and even without that tend to be easily spammable to the point of being omnipresent in an unhealthy way for the trials.

This is a sick item, and it shouldn't be gutted, but in its current state Fog Vials are seriously intruding on the matches.

  • Feels like no matter how much new content they add the backlog is constantly being left behind to slowly break over time. This patch is just another in a long line where it feels like some straw was added that snapped the back of the most fragile camel, and honestly, while it feels like the devs had every opportunity to hold back or change or simply forsee the utter mess that is the game in its current state, they didn't, and now we're the ones who have to pay for it.

It's just tiring, and it makes me want to spend less money on and play the game less.

Not every killer should be for everyone

I hate seeing comments like this because it just ignores everything the user said and all the experiences that informed their opinion in favor of "just not for you."

Like if you wanna argue Sadako is fine, actually argue it instead of just acting like the User should suck up not liking her current version. Asking for killer tweaks is like half of what this forum is for, they aren't at all out of line for saying "this killer isn't for me, here's how I'd change her."

  • I think there should simply be a new way to earn these cosmetics that's difficult.

The Deep Rifts are time limited rewards you got for grinding out the game consistently to get them before they'd leave.

Legacy were special recolors given out to people who had invested a ton of time into the old system and leveling after it transitioned to a much faster paced and generous economy.

They aren't the same imo because Legacy was a one time only reward and Deep Rifts are consistently releasing more and more. As someone who owns many deep rifts, I don't have any issues with people snagging them later, especially since unlike legacy, Deep Rifts can be earned by buying the levels your missing before the rift ends, which kinda ruins the idea of "i EARNED blue Dracula", y'know?

  • Sadako is weird because it feels like rather than just running with the unique and original version she had that was admittedly pretty weak, she got reworked and changed into versions that took some aspects and bunked others, leaving her wholly underwhelming each time.

I think they could definitely make TVs have a shorter cool down and either make her coming through the TV faster, or remove the global tp noise since killers like Springtrap work well without one and it'd make her scarier. I don't play her often, but with a couple of the right nudges she could easily be a favorite. She was always such a weirdly cool addition.

  • I can see the point that it feels like a standard M1 killer design is being power crept out of viability as a playstyle. M1 killers are becoming more rare and often come with a form of Special attack anyway, like HoundMaster's dog or Singularity's Overlock (Clow's bottle or Knight's Guards). A classic Trapper or Ghost face power both seems unlikely to see from the devs these days and unlikely to get past B tier in the meta (all the more reason to give more love to the older killers)

Mobility isn't the solution in my eyes because it comes off like a bandaid fix to this problem. Rather than making it so M1 killers stand out and compete in their own unique way, just give them a mobility tool it's a hard meta these days. In all fairness, I have a similar issue with so many modern killers being designed around mobility or teleportion because it feels played out, but a lot of those killers have decently unique ways of traversal with only a few that feel extremely samey (Springtrap can jump scare but his doors still feel very similar to Xeno's).

  • Honestly, give me Jason, Slender, and Predator and like the whole dream roster I had in mind when Halloween was announced is here. There are obviously other chapters I'd be happy to see like a Stephen King killer (Dark Tower, It, Shining) or Dead Space or another FNAF chapter that isn't the Mimic, but I'd be well and truly content with what was in the game. Those three in my mind are the big on the table options that would complete our roster of icons.

  • Haywire legitimately irks me. The idea of giving Springtrap an endgame perk is great and shows they paid attention to his character, why is it literally useless unless you use it in an intentionally almost hostage holding playstyle with remember me?

Genuine question, if they changed it from 50 to 80% because Singularity can become basically unwinnable trapping the gates with them, does that mean the perk is designed predominantly with that strategy in mind?

I'd rather it be reworked to something like gaining Undetectable for a minute when the trial starts and then again when the gates are done.

  • In all fairness, Alien crossover media, and even just the series in general, is pretty infamous for new Xenomorph variations, especially when it comes to paying for them.

In Disney's eyes, would this really be much different than handing off the Alien Licence to a Toy Distributor?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/451477/so-whats-next-for-springtrap

If you don't mind me turning your question back on you, now that you've had time to dig into his gameplay (I'm glad you're liking him!), is there anything you'd change about the Animatronic?

If there's one big change I'd have for Springtrap, it'd be to rework one of his less popular add-ons into fully disabling the axe, like Chatterer's Tooth Disables Chain Hunts in exchange for aura on box and Undetectable for half a minute on Pinhead.

It's a cool example of a killer shedding a large aspect of their normal gameplay in favor of a more specified playstyle, and since there's been a lot of talk around Springtrap's adaption in regards to how controversial the axe is, I think it would be a big hit if he was given something of this nature to let both camps have their cake and eat it.

For a specific addon suggestion, I think it'd be cool if an addon disabled the axe, added 3 more Security Doors, then made the Undetectable Springtrap got from security doors indefinite until he was revealed on camera by a survivor. It would ideally change the dynamic of how Springtrap slinks around the map and Survivors approach using the cameras as a preventative measure.

  • A. Why was there so much miscommunication from the devs about this? First it was a tile tied to the WD survivors, then it was a tile spawning on maps in Withered Isle, now it's just a map in Withered Isle? These were all statements from devs, community managers, and official Dbd accounts, it's crazy that was there literally no consensus on this from the official channels.

    B. No offense but we kind of ended up with the worst of the stated futures if this is a straight up map. Let's be real, it's a tile and a filter in the same forest that's a prominent part of three other maps, just now 90% of the space in this one. It's cool that we got something when we thought it was just two Survs, but this would be perfectly fine as just a small part of any withered Isle map, it honestly stacks up as kinda sad compared to the rest of them.

With scamper they took his no sound when vaulting in hidey-hode mode, just forgoten nerf.

I remember complaining about this change specifically a ton a few months ago. The original point of him having a new Scamper animation for vaulting windows was because it didn't make noise, them limiting it to when he's screaming his lungs out during Slice and Dice made it go from cool tech that added a new factor of vsing him in power vs out of it, to basically just a superfluous 'neat that it looks different' vault.

Genuinely still get salty of how Chucky got done whenever I think of it. He was 110% and had a solid dash every 18 seconds, he wasn't anywhere near Nurse or Blight like was often suggested at the time.

  • While I like the idea of a perk that makes you undetectable until injury, I'm not the biggest fan of it as a rework for Insidious.

While I know it isn't a popular perk, I've grown fond of using it on killers you otherwise wouldn't expect to have stealth. It's especially fun against survivors who will pre run but then always return to gen. Pretend to leave then shack up behind a wall, it's a lot more useable than you'd think, even if it mainly works based off vibes. I don't expect the buff to do much, but it does make me wanna dust off Unknown after mainly grinding Afton matches since he's hit live.

we are not recieving a new map, this map is only there to show us wich tile it will spawn when we are playing with TWD survs.

I hope this information circulates more because it completely changes this from the laziest map design in the game to a completely unnecessary but really cool addition that actually gives meaningful reason to choose some survivors over others.

I wish Licences like Evil Dead, Alan Wake, and L4D had mini tiles referencing aspects of the movies or games. This could even be extended to killers without maps like Chucky or Leatherface.

  • I've ran this a couple times and it absolutely trivializes maps like Gideon unless survivors lock in. Using Foxy's hook to close any distance after breaking pallets and even just a couple stacks of Fire up can let you erode resources and still get hits consistently. I wouldn't be surprised if Endo CPU is toned down a bit in the future, though I'd like for some of Springtrap's other add-ons to be buffed as well.
