  • I honestly preferred the idea of him throwing hands as is implied in FNAF 3 over the axe or knife, but I'm glad they went with the latter instead. The axe I always saw brought up cause of that FNAF concept chapter and to me it would've felt like an Mcu, "I understood that reference" moment. Like the concept chapter I think gave him an axe based off the FNAF 3 Living Tombstone music video? I can't deny it would've worked, but I honestly really disliked how many people said it should've factored into his power or was necessary for him to have.

The knife feels a bit off with the general aesthetic of the character imo, but It's in the movie so I can't really argue with it's inclusion. I like the detail that Lillard Afton is both undecayed and human, but still dead and spring locked beneath the costume. It's an interesting mesh of FNAF's way of clinging to life after death and the Entities ability to reanimate the dead.

The knife now being tied to Game Springtrap as well as the movie version kinda has disturbing implications for the MCI.

  • It was mentioned during the FNAF 10 Year anniversary stream, but it seems like depicting the missing children as killers was vetoed to separate them from being mindless killing machines, so it seems like the Original Five and Charlie are off the table beyond prop decoration/easter eggs.

That leaves Baby, Ennard, Nightmare, Mangle, and maybe the Mimic as solid choices for cosmetics imo, since they all are either important or well known and slot well into the role of killers.

  • It does feel weird to segment info like this. While I'm such a big fan of these two things that just seeing them together was enough to get me hyped, it does kinda sting to get all hyped for the big event almost a year in advance only for them to reveal the meat of the content is still a couple weeks out.

Kind of a meager complaint in the grand scheme of things, but it seems I'm not alone with this sentiment.

you do realize all those “children” are all in there 20s now and aren’t children anymore?
plus this is good now people aren’t going to ask for FNAF anymore cause we got it

This^ When it was DnD and Castlevania, nobody batted an eye at media targeted towards children being included. One could argue their older status as 80's media implies a naturally older fanbase, which is accurate I would say, but to imply that FNAF's adult audience is just blatantly non-existent, or that children don't play DnD or Castlevania today, is just people bending reality to fit the stigma they wanna attach to others. I was 8 years old when I got into Fnaf originally, I'm 19 now, the bar really isn't that high for us to exist.

If this was actually about the behavior and sometimes actual childish actions of the FNAF community, I feel like there might ground to cover; but honestly, you could make the most polite, respectful comment or discussion relating to FNAF and still get bombarded by dislikes and hateful replies. It just feels like people use the excuse that FNAF fans were admittedly annoying in the past around the time of Hellraiser to be just as annoying as they were then.

When it comes to politics, that's a different discussion where I'd say the criticism is a lot more warranted. But the people saying "time for all the kids to take over" need to seriously ease up a bit.

  • I think it's Supernatural. It's been one of the most common requests for a double survivor chapter, it was mentioned there were a ton secrets scattered around the presentation, and I'm pretty sure they said the word Supernatural at least 3 times in varying contexts throughout it. Could be a tinfoil hat on my head, but if year 8 was all about introducing horror adjacent content in some form to DBD, Year 9 and 10 might just be them clearing through a couple popular requests, which is kind of inline with a 'vote on your favorite idea' chapter like we'll see later.

I kinda just want more details on Springtrap lmao, idk if you could hear on the Livestream but like 70% of the audience died on the inside when they said there wasn't gonna be any talk of the power or perks. Still, wasn't a bad anniversary imo

Edit: seems like there's consensus it's actually TWD, which makes a lot of sense too. It'd be nice to get more Zombie content, although I'm a little annoyed that they haven't just committed and made a proper zombie killer for any of these chapters, sans maybe Nemesis?

  • So excited for this! It's surreal to see the model and map after all the fan works. I was really hoping for Mike, but this is just fine too! Looking forward to the proper showcase in a couple weeks!

  • Definitely starting to feel like there's some solid QoL coming pretty consistently from the devs. It's cool that the flash bang fix may have inadvertently made Ghosty and Unknown mory consistent.

  • Lightborn honestly saves games for me pretty regularly when I run it. It's hard sometimes to know when a perk is being useful, but this is definitely not one of those cases. I usually only throw it on if it there are 3 or more flashlights in the lobby, or 2 if I just don't wanna deal with it. A lot of people will call it a crutch perk that makes you sloppy, which is fair, but I don't think there's anyone out there good enough to avoid a blind 100% of the time, which is why Lightborn will always have good value.

  • It was kinda cool at the time to see such another Alien planet, especially with how different it looked from Toba Landing, but I agree in retrospect that the current map feels like a missed opportunity. The aesthetic is cool but doesn't quite get across the series claustrophobic isolationism and the ship being an almost clinical reflection of the sort of violent beauty that is the Xenomorph.

From the gameplay side of things, indoor maps can be a bit of a controversial inclusion, though we'll probably be seeing one soon with FNAF. Honestly, since Nostromo already struggles with being so clutter filled, I don't think it would've been that big an issue if the whole map were designed like the indoor parts of the wreckage are given how intersecting and wide it can be.

Okay but consider, I've got 70 Eyes to use on Kaneki alone. I've got 230 of them on Claudette, and only 103 BPS. I need to use these eyes before they sit in my inventory for a year.

BPS are eternal, these Eyes are useable for another 2 weeks, 1 of which I can't play for.

This is my thinking as well. BPS are so much more useful but I gotta get rid these Eyes somehow. Better to save the streamers for when they can't be substituted.

  • The UI changes for Quests and Lore are all great! Haste and Hindered might end up feeling a little boring, but it's been a controversial topic for awhile so it makes sense there wouldn't be a consensus. It's good we're getting more broad scale changes, even if some might not be the most agreeable.

  • This'll go a long ways to helping newer and returning players learn maps faster. Badham II is gone, rejoice!

  • I swear if I hear the failed Predator thing again I'm actually gonna touch grass guys she had a mask and reminiscent weapon there is absolutely zero evidence she was ever tied to Predator.

  • I agree. Compared to her current design, this sounds much more thought out and developed. It's refreshing to see transparency like this from the devs in regards to trashing her old design, though naturally those that did like old Merchant are understandably pissed.

Hopefully a W can come from this in the end.

  • I think it's worth noting that a game like DBD has been changed and shaped so much by the community that largely 'the rules' are formed moreso around the devs understanding of how people play and adapting around them.

From that angle, although giving hatch is breaking the no teamwork rule between killer and survivor in certain instances, it's so ingrained in our etiquette as players that some of us simply don't see it as selling out our teammate, despite the fact that's what it amounts to in practice.

I feel the Doomposting around this chapter specifically is coming from people who are already salty FNAF is being added and want a reason to think it's going to go poorly.

    Wonder who that could be.

I mean, you can read the above reply to Ryuhi where I specifically mentioned I wasn't referring to him or anyone else he mentioned, which in this context is literally just you. I was complaining about X and a couple specific people on here who are now banned after our encounters, since FNAF doesn't tend to gets brought up more than twice a month here. Admittedly I haven't been very active on these forums for the past few months. It's what the 'Fnaf supporters don't support human rights' comment was about, as I have actually had someone find my email and spam me messages with that statement.

  • Myer's recent rework changed the Tombstone add-ons to be much harder to gain access too, to the point many killers struggle to activate the ability by the times the gens are done.

I agree the mechanic is something I'm not happy with, but the idea it's op and needs a nerf is honestly kinda laughable. Good players can stay out of los for plenty enough time to eventually escape.

There are two reasons FNAF gets a bit different salt from a lot of franchises (especially iconic ones:) People's stance on the creator of the series and their unwillingness to support him, and the community's behavior (both as a fandom and within DBD's history, as @Pulsar mentioned.) People are allowed to have their opinions about the creator and separating art from its creator and what have you, but there is a very clear generational gap between most of the licensed franchises and FNAF.

As has been mentioned even in this very topic, younger people tend to know FNAF a lot more than most of the horror icons in the game, regardless of what form of media they come from. On the inverse, its a much newer series than most of the licenses (with a few exceptions, of course) and does not carry a "classic" moniker the same as many others for anyone born before maybe 1990 or so. Its a combination of different appreciations and time dilation which causes the schism, and the majority of the licenses are from a different era. It doesn't help that the series has been focusing more on younger audiences and further widening the divide, and that the fandom behind it is a bit…. notorious. Especially within DBD's community.

These things combine to make a lot of people who play the game especially disinterested in this chapter, with some points being legitimate while others are merely subjective. Either way, its probably going to be the most divisive license from a background (i.e. not gameplay/implementation based) perspective we'll see in a while, if ever. Ironically Pinhead was probably the worst up to this point with the whole NFT snafu, and that was the chapter that really started the FNAF drama in the first place.

I was there during almost all of this drama from the initial FNAF controversy to Pinhead. I have the unique perspective of being a lifetime fan of both franchises since launch, so admittedly I did already know all of the things in this comment, though I understand why you would assume otherwise based on my original statement.

I've spoken on this in previous topics, but I fully understand the stance and reasoning against the Creator of FNAF, and even agree with it for the most. Many of his donations are ones I found deeply unsettling then and still have a sour taste on now. Its just as a FNAF fan who's LGBTQ, it's difficult to see people who were utterly fine accepting any controversial figure in DBD because it was a licence they liked, only to turn on FNAF like it's literal evil to support. Not accusing you or anyone you mentioned of this, it's just so draining hopping on X and seeing a bunch of grown adults say 'supporting FNAF isn't the stance of someone who supports human rights' as they beg BHVR for another Stranger Things chapter as if that company doesn't have a mountain of malformed skeletons in their closet.

I guess it just boils down to people forcing their morals on others without being willing to subject themselves to the same level of scrutiny. From that lens, I shouldn't have been so generalist and judgemental in my original comment, it's just difficult to give a good faith view to people who often aren't willing to give you one back, y'know?

  • I feel the Doomposting around this chapter specifically is coming from people who are already salty FNAF is being added and want a reason to think it's going to go poorly.

We get years long fan requests added constantly, from RE to Alien to Chucky to Dracula, people have found a reason to be hyped or disappointed by anyone being added, with execution actually seeming to matter the most. Sure, there will be people who hate no matter what, but I certainly didn't see anyone pinning Alien as a flop because of fan expectations, it was almost all based around legitimate complaints in design.

Yes, there's definitely a chance the devs mess up the power like Xeno and the killer becomes extremely unpopular, but I don't see much of a reason to assume that before we've even seen it. Even a controversial killer like Nemesis still has a lot of fans. I have faith we'll get something good from Springtrap, especially since he doesn't fall into regular killer pitfalls like 'dash ability.'

  • 2 maps maaaaybe, but if they were gonna make 2 killers then they may as well make 2 chapters imo

I'm happy enough with Springtrap and Mike, assuming that is our killer survivor combo. Hard to believe it's just a couple months away

  • I would like some more classic killers, especially now that we've gotten a fair amount of odd choices as of late, but I'm also glad the devs are willing to pick something weird and keep people guessing. Ken Kanaki went from a character I was highly skeptical of to completely sold on after a day on the Ptb.

Honestly though, I'm getting the license I want next chapter, so as long as they keep things fresh, the new additions should keep my interest.

  • I'm not a fan of her original power, but the ptb version absolutely cannot go live. Utterly guts Xenomorph beyond measure with the turrets. For an already unpopular killer, this'll practically ruin her pickrate.

  • The actual DBD survivors have come off their umpteenth match and are tired of being controlled.

  • I think giving survivors a camera system to use can be a pretty fresh idea, especially if they're placed on gens and the interaction gets redefined.

I don't think a Wesker comparison is likely, mainly because Springtrap doesn't seem like the character to get a dash ability. While the past few killers have gotten backlash for samey power designs, I think there's still more than enough room for a FNAF Animatronic to stand out. Whether that does happen remains to be seen, but it's hard to imagine Springtrap with a version of another killer's power imo

Overall, I'm not wanting anything specific from Springtrap. Just hoping the horror vibe of classic FNAF is brought over instead of a cartoony tone like Security Breach had, and the power not being something like the Fireaxe which has literally no presence in the actual source material.

  • I'm ngl, if this site didn't have enough issues with the way players approach each other, I feel like this could make things around the forums a lot more toxic. Hope I'm wrong.

  • Yeah honestly, this is basically exactly what the community wanted for the longest time, a break from BHVRs cutthroat deadlines and a focus on the years spanning issues this game has had.

As someone who was starting to get really burnt out on the game again after having rejoined here when Singularity was added, while the notion of these ideas getting messed up is scary, it's at least a start that they've become the priority for the devs, and BHVR does have the passion and talent capable of pulling it off.

We'll see how it goes, but after Houndmaster, I'm glad we're putting chapters off for the sake of QoL, and the almost decade of attention I've spent following this title feels kinda validated after seeing the devs aren't just a soulless corporate machine and are willing to put the game before their profit margins.

  • The queue times are still too long and bots are far more prevalent than we were told. This decision isn't popular, it wasn't even before the devs downplayed the issues bots had. Next time please remove them and explore other avenues for reducing queue times. I'm frankly upset such a solid idea plays so poorly because a feature most knew would be a bad idea turned out to be one.

  • Yup, and somehow queue times are still miserable. So much they could've done, so little they actually did.

  • Make sure you get used to obscuring yourself using terrain from survivors you ping with UVX, and don't be afraid to try a snipe every now and then, I find Unknown's AOE makes it generally easier to land those kinds of shots.

It's good to know that you're playing a killer many survivors don't know how to face. Identifying who can effectively loop you and when to get weird can change the course of a lot of matches.

Alot thought this on multiple platforms do some basic rearch

Most complaints are opposed to bots being in lobbies, regardless of whether they're forced or only when queues are bad. It doesn't really matter what the devs said where when the idea itself garners criticism.

  • Are you referring to when he tentacle smacks someone if he collides mid dash with a survivor while they vault? I think there's been a minor collision bug with it for the past months. You can still do it, the window is just more finicky and less reliable.

  • Yeah probably just not going to play. I did like 2v8 gameplay as a survivor but if a quarter of my teammates are the same IQ as the zombies I'm out. There could've been solutions regarding the queue times that weren't wildly unpopular, but here we are.

  • Man the pirate killer needing a pirate skin is peak DbD

  • The bugs are seriously demoralizing me from playing the game. Ik it's standard affair but genuinely it just doesn't feel like they've added anything of massive substance for awhile, instead just sightly improving balancing while the stability of the game nosedives and turns back for a while then nosedives again.

Houndmaster hasn't been playable for the majority of her release, and at this point she just doesn't do anything for me. There are 38 killers in this game and she's basically destined to be passed over by 95% of the playerbase. Honestly, the 4 Chapters a year in a game as monetized as this just feels like too much. I agree with the above users that say 3 chapters a year and more focus on performance would be better for the game.

Use the more limited inclusions to actually make them mean something and have impact again. I'm probably going to take a small break from the game till Fnaf, hopefully things will have improved by then.

  • Man, they confused the perk for its old effect and then gave it a numbers buff that won't matter cause they don't seem to realize that getting a stealthy approach is useless when the survivor already knows where you are in chase.

  • Apparently this opinion is insane but I honestly think Sadako is a mostly fine killer who needs some minor tweaks whereas Chucky is pretty awful in his current state.

Sadako has solid map pressure with TVs and the trick of balancing condemned and hooks is a unique mechanic no other killer has. There are a fair few addons that need changing, and if I remember right she needs the kind of changes they gave Dredge where the passive noises he makes should be lessened so stealth strats actually work, but her kit is mostly functional.

Chucky's ability was basically cut in half by removing manual scamper and buffing Slice and Dice, and then it was determined that was then too powerful so they nerfed it and the cooldown buff that was his only boon after losing Scamper. Now half his add-ons are based around using scamper in ways he can't physically use it, Slice and Dice feels extremely sluggish to use. He's a killer whose entire kit has been stripped with no real regard for giving him anything else to use.

As a 110 killer without a ranged ability, Chucky doesn't have the luxury of taking regular chases the same way a lot of characters do. He's meant to excel at mind games and surprise attacks, but they removed tactics meant to compliment that playstyle like Manual Scamper, and bent him into relying on Slice and Dice for everything.

  • Ghostfaces are the most rare find for me, although I haven't seen a Skerchant in like a month. Generally, unless they're a mascot character like Michael, the non supernatural/unpowered characters tend to show up less in my experience.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Would be funny and would show people that saying "The game becomes more and more survivor-sided" or "Killer agency is being taken away" is pretty wrong.

Self Care Meta where you could use a window to heal yourself before the killer has a chance to walk around it and hit you again. The gold ole days :3

  • In terms of being left on the floor for a good sec cause the killer had something or was trying to do something? A minor but frequent enough amount. Maybe 1/4 games are like that for me.

In terms of a full blown slug sesh? Not often honestly. It's much more common to see tunneling off 1st or 2nd hook in my opinion.

  • I honestly expect the Switch version to be phased out in like 2 years tops, especially with the successor on the way sometime this year.

It was always and especially now is getting the short end of the stick in terms of optimization and playability. It's understandable that BHVR works on such strict scheduling and that this is a lower end secondary version of the game, but that isn't an excuse for the frankly abysmal showings they charge a premium for to play the Switch version.

In retrospect, it would've been kinda cool if Switch DbD was almost like a DbD lite, getting major content drops like chapters and maps but ignoring the harder to work in and clunky stuff like battle pass, skin shops, tomes, bloodwebs and just focused on making the core gameplay as smooth as it could be.

  • I feel as if Pyramid Head's already ill fitting power would make less sense for Valtiel, but I honestly wouldn't complain. I still remember getting nightmares from him turning valves in SH3 when I was younger.

  • Why don't we just give users just 1 discussion? May as well since every poster wants to talk about slug slug slug! I mean posting bypasses 8 pre-existing slug posts anyways so why even have the option for each user?

  • Ya gotta love "not a bug."

Doesn't matter that this is an issue absent from the regular game, or that it clearly has an effect on certain lower played killers that might struggle during the mode. Doesn't matter that the situation is almost certainly an unintended result of a few intentional changes made to the trials for the event like chest spawn offering. Doesn't matter that in practice most players will think and play around this scenario as if it were a bug.

There's technically not a technical mess up, just a few stacking mechanics having a weird effect, so nothing. Gameplay be damned, not a bug.

  • I think "Pressure" is largely just the killers ability to affect the actions of survivors. Something like Artist forcing a survivor off a gen with crowd or Ghost face intercepting an aura while in Stealth. Killers can have more or less pressure in a situation just by nature of their powers.

With that in mind, Spreading Pressure wouldn't really be a proper skill so much as it is the killers ability to effectively capitalize on the situations they're in to block the actions of as many survivors as possible.

So from what I can tell, telling killers to get better at spreading pressure is basically just 'git gud' in DBD slang, the same way 'just do bones' was as a response to NoeD for awhile.

  • @LockerLurk said:

Frankly there may not be too much more big that needs to be done anymore…

We members of Swamp Support Society have decided to take great offense to this post.

  • Would probably necessitate much more campy gameplay from the killer, especially at high level. Can't afford to risk losing two gens at once if basement is being pressured, but you also don't wanna give up the ones opposite the map.

Honestly, I think the game would be a lot less fun in this hypothetical scenario.

  • My issue is less with the portals and more with almost the entire upper layer of the map. I wish it got nixed and the lower dungeon was expanded instead, then use the Portals to wrap around to make traversal easier.

ive been playing him alot more recently and the chains are just a joke, you can hit someone 5 times in chase with the chains and still not get a hit. they should not shatter the instant the survivor puts something in the way, it should be like a mini slinger where they break over 1 second or so. they break too fast

Impaling Wire does feel almost necessary depending on the map. I can see an argument for making it basekit or partial basekit, but I'd settle for all chains consistently connecting whenever a hit is landed. It's so annoying (if not funny) to tag a survivor and see half the summoned chains just not hit.

  • Other players have said it well. The box is fine as a mechanic, but Chains as an ability should be made more consistent. Pinhead phasing through his own chains would be an easy fix, and then maybe find a way to make chains spawn logic post hit more consistent.

Aside from that, the addon that essentially lets you tunnel offhook without contest should go.

  • Randomized everything sounds fun. Throwing add-ons into the mix (maybe barring meme add-ons), and randomized items will lead to a lot more craziness. Random offerings could be fun too, since you never see stuff like the Mist bottles get used.

I do like the mode as is, but a few actual changes would be nice.
