  • If they make it so hatch does not count for the adepts than sure I don't care but otherwise I don't think that would be fair...

I think our disagreement is just semantic, as in we just use words differently. I don't think we disagree. At the core of it, Alien and Nemisis are different, but from a casual perspective (which mostly dictates pick rates), the two killers aren't that different. I could see why Alien dropped of so hard for casual players. There's nothing too unique there from a casual glance, but of course when you spend time with the two killers you will feel the difference.

I guess, even though the tunnels alone are a fun and different gameplay element, I would probably just go in a bot lobby and run around just because why not :D

If you think Pig needs a buff in comparison to Trickster, then check her recent killrates and playrates

    Pig was above average Killer.

Wow because those killrates say so much...Basically everyone runs the addons to make the beartraps more deadly, it is really not that hard to get a head pop under that circumstances. Besides that I didn't necessarily want a buff, I would be fine if the bear traps become worse if that means the dash will be more usefull, I don't care if the killer is weak or strong, but I want to be able to use the power, and for Pig that's just not really possible, because as soon as you crouch they just run...

What I mean is, that one stealth killer gets the special terror radius treatment but the other isn't. Pig is designed to be a stealth killer. Why is it so important for her to follow that "rule" but not for Sadako?

Because basically Pig does not traverse the map in her stealth mode, since it is way too time consuming and slow, whereas for sadako it does not make a difference and she is not completely silent no matter which mode she is in, whereas pig is while crouching.

    Soooo....

We have all read about the changes coming in the Ptb.

We (all) rejoiced about mft nerfs and maps shrinking.

The changes to trickster seem to be rather controversial from what I've seen so far.

Most of this is about his movement speed and the changes to main event.

However, one "small" line made me honestly kinda frustrated.

Due to trickster being a 4.6 movement speed killer, his terror radius will be increased to 32 meters to keep it in line with the other killers.

    This has happened before.

Let's take you back to a time where one of dbd's biggest memes was born. Early 2019.

    Patch 2.5.0 to be precise.

This patch marked the beginning of a line of nerfs for the Pig throughout the whole year.

From the beartraps to her ambush.

The nerf that I dislike the most is the one that got introduced first. The pigs terror radius got increased from 28 meters to 32 meters due to her movement speed being 4.6.

Why do I dislike it? Because of Wesker and Sadako. Both are 4.6 and have either bigger or smaller terror radii.

Now that Trickster gets the same treatment, this old inconsistency came back to my mind.

Why do these two killers get the special treatment but Pig and Trickster have to be "put in line" with the other killers?

In my opinion, the Pig needs her terror radius reduced to 28 meters. Just like it used to be.

BHVR basing their balancing decisions on this rule seems weird, due to inconsistencies with the more recently introduced killers.

    Justice for the Pig!!!🐽

    What do you think?

I mean for Wesker it makes kind of sense and for sadako it does not really matter, since she is not walking around manifested anyway unless maybe in chase? I mean I agree that the argument cannot be made for consistancy anymore but I don't really see much of an issue there... Sadakos terror radius could be global and it would not matter in my opinion.

As for Pig changes yes, there is so much to do there, make her ambush stronger and more usable, that is the main point why I would go back to playing her, because I for sure don't play her for m1 gameplay + beartraps.

  • You could argue that just by addon the 5% bonus ms to his overclock mode he would be basically perfect, even some other minor tweaks would greatly help him, but for what reason would he need an entire rework? He is already at a really good spot.

You yourself can still know and play around it so its not useless even then. My main point is; I feel like 1 perk that just shuts down entire builds is a feels bad and kills a lot of the fun. For example, I really wanted to try aura reading huntress but I know that it would be pointless since just a couple of distortions would literally make the build useless.

On a greater level it makes it so perks that cannot be countered by other perks, like regression will overcome aura reading and such, which makes games not really better... Now you don't have the 4 aura perks nurse that trashes you in 5 min but 4 regression perks that does the same but in 10 min

  • I don't think even the fans of the show would want that because you cannot really translate the godlike powers he has into the game, which would not give the feeling of playing him at all... Also I don't see a way to have his power in a balanced not boring way in this game.

  • @DrDucky said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/395977/i-hate-distortion

I do wish distortion did not have a way to regain its tokens and so then it has to be used as a team perk (calling out tracking perks/addons) rather than it just always being on and so tracking builds just get destroyed. This would also fix the problem you mentioned in your thread.

But you can only call out via cons, so I solo q it would be kind of useless for that purpose...

wouldn't it be cool to have a killer that could shape shift as one of the players and i can see how this can seem over powered so the thought would be that the killer might have to hit a survivor and collect a sample from them before they could shapeshift and once they shapeshift they would be able to do maybe things like getting on gens and regressing them a bit back but not by much and or another thing they could do as survivor is maybe set traps for them. To make this killer a bit more balanced would be make it so they can't directly hurt other survivors unless they are in their true form and when they go to shapeshift they have to wait maybe 5 seconds to shift from regular monstrous from to human and human to monstrous from. A way that player's could tell that they're is a shape shifter beside them is by is by checking the player bar to see if that person has been hooked or injured or they could try to see but using a killer reading aura perk.

Scott Jund had a similar idea about a Legion buff, apparently in the trailer legion could somewhat hide himself as a fellow survivor and then suddenly stab, so basically you had this hiding as survivor thing into frenzy, I liked the idea tbh.

  • @GolbezGarlandGabrant said:

Aura reading is very common on killers. It's a counterpick at this point. It's almost like killers running Fearmonger because they know how common Exhaustion perks are for survivor.

The question is what will killers run if aura reading does not give them more value? I think some aura reading is healthier for the game than just 4 regression perks every game, and by reducing the value of the aura perks through distortion you incentivise people to just go for regression, which cannot really be countered by a perk like aura reading or other tracking can.

I use it with Dance with me. I find a lot of value it that combo helping escape chase.

I don't know, I find the low time span on dance with me a little bit annoying... Also doesnt it have 40 sec cd compared to the 20 of quick and quiet? So you don't even get the combo every time?

What do you mean useless? I always run Q&Q and not with Head On.

It is a niche perk at best, in combination with perks like head on and deception it can be nice, but if you only want to use it to generate more of a 50 50 in your favor when vaulting windows... I don't know, I think it is only good in combination with other perks, which makes it niche.

If something has a rep, it need not be touched. I understand what you mean, but I feel its a bad way to view things.

I liked his idea, but 15 seconds? I'd say double whatever Q&Q's CD is. Or its only quiet when you're injured? I dunno. Everything is getting a trigger condition now so who knows.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3577319#Comment_3577319

I think he's trying to get Head On to be an all-in-one. And I mean, I feel like its the only exhaustion that NEEDS a supporting perk. Eh!

With enough time you can fast vault and the killer won't be able to grab you in time, but yeah otherwise you need quick and quiet.

Generally speaking I think the number of perks we have is too much and some weaker perks should just be combined to be more useful, but I don't think they will go this way.

Wait, are you saying you only ever see killers using these very four perks?

You give the impression that you just make up stuff. The perk usage stats the devs shared definitely don't back your claim.

Dude.. The guy is joking, because those perks got nerfed to the ground and are barely used anymore, which is a good thing because they were overtuned.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

Allow a slipstreamed survivor who gets hooked, to keep their slipstream. It makes no sense that multiple other killers can have their infection/traps etc, remain on a hooked survivor, but singularity loses his when hooking a survivor. This would increase the whole "dangerous to work together" aspect and also maybe prevent people from healing under hooks and force survivors to use emps in a smarter way.

the slowdown on camera's paired with infection loss on hook mechanic looks like mechanics to attempt to singularity less effective at tunneling off hook. strangely enough, you end up being fairly effective at proxy camping hooks regardless of the mechanic.

1: When using a pod to tag someone who's working on a gen or unlocking a chest etc, they shouldn't be able to pop an EMP before the tagging cooldown is over. If they dont want to be tagged and teleported to, they can pop an EMP before they start working on the gen and disable any pods near them, to allow them to also just disable a pod in your face with no effort is ridiculous and makes using pods even weaker than they already are and puts any surv in a win win situation everytime with no possibility of making a mistake.

There is camera bug/exploit on singularity that allows you to skip your tagging cooldown. the way you do it is you tag a survivor to put your camera on cooldown then you switch to a camera that has been EMP'd then quickly switch back to camera you were using. when you switch back, your cooldown will be reset. I don't know if this intended or not but the mechanic has been existed for around 2 months.

Should this mechanic be a feature? Does singularity need a tagging cooldown? either way, you can use this feature until they fix the bug or they keep it as feature. it allows you to outplay the situation your describing regards to the win/win situation that survivor gets if one of your camera's is disabled.

That bug sounds like an exploit and I wouldn't risk anything like that...

  • The problem with distortion is not only the before mentioned but also that it incentives killers to not run aura reading, and instead something more reliable like Gen slowdown, if I bring BBQ in for tracking and half the players isn't 40m away and the other half uses distortion I might as well get some more consistent perk, which is sad on two levels, because first I would like to chase someone else and not stay close by, because that's what BBQ is for but if I don't get value I must assume they are all close, otherwise 3 people are running distortion in which case I would need to wander around the map to perhaps find someone so it is less annoying to just stay close and go for the person that unhook, which is pretty boring tbh. The killer finding a different chase is like the best outcome for both sides 1.he is not proxy camping or tunneling, since he is going for someone else 2. You can get a safe unhook and perhaps even heal up 3. Your odds are higher to evenly spread hooks and not have someone dead early in the game...

  • @BBTschak said:

When using Head On you can enter a Locker without noise. This has a cooldown of ~15 sec. No additional changes.

I noticed that Head On is the only exhaustion Perk that you have to use in combination with annother Perk (Quick&Quiet) to effectivly use in a chase.

This limits the use of Head On.

I think with this change you will see alot more Head On and it frees a Perkslot for something else.

There are alot of Maps with very few Locker and alot of them are in bad places.

When you get one of those bad Maps atleast you have 3 Perks and half of your Build is not completely useless.

TLDR: Add a mini Quick and Quiet to Head On (only for Lockers) with a cooldown so you are not forced to use Quick&Quiet everytime you want to use Head On.

    What do you think?

So quick and quiet is just useless now? Your version has even a shorter cooldown than quick and quiet and it is basically never used for the stealth vault build d with dance with me...

  • @Zarth said:

To defend this guys point, as someone who plays a bit of both sides but mains survivor with friends sometimes, BBQ is almost always used and is near impossible to counter becuase of Lethal Pursuer, as well as no one being able to know its there unless they have something like Shadow Step or Distortion. Pop is still used because it still provieds a MASSIVE amount of regression overall, even more when combined with Call of Brine and kinda camping gens. It also doesn't help the fact that a majority of killers tend to play ones that can easily deal with and make 3 gens, such as Knight and Skull Merchant, who can just defend them from far away or know instantly when someone touches their gen. Also, killers have far more advantages over survivors when it comes to speeding up or slowing down other survivors, or being able to deal with speed boosts by having ranged abilities or such. From what i have witness for well over 5 years of playing DBD, Behavior seems to baby the killers whenever they complain due to most of them being Killer main.

BBQ is the easiest perk to counter... Just go in a locker, wait 6 seconds in case of Lethal, unless he has corrupt because almost no one runs both and there you have it, you countered the perk...

Not a very necessary change in the game, but I thought it would provide visual clarity if the icon on the left of the screen would have a different colored outline when more than one person is fixing the same generator at the same time.

I don't think it is necessary, you can already know if several people are on the same Gen because 1. The progress bar will the exact same and 2. You can tell by how fast it progresses... So sure if they have time to add it nice, but otherwise there is other stuff to take care of first.

    Boil Over (Kate Denson)

From my experience playing the "Boil Over" perk. I found that every time. when I use "Boil Over" perk was grabbed or picked up by a Killer, when the killer can't see the hook aura or collides with obstacles when walking. Killer always leaves me lying on the floor, the worst I've experienced is I was left lying on the ground for the entire game until I bled and died. And the reason the killer does that is because I put on this perk.

I propose adding a similar ability to Perk: Power Struggle (Élodie_Rakoto) in Boil Over.

    • While being carried by The Killer, reaching 25/20/15 % Wiggling progression activates. if a killer drops you on the floor (R), you can stun and escape their grasp.

    Decisive Strike (Laurie_Strode)

Right now, Decisive Strike only stuns the killer for 3 seconds. It doesn't really help at all. Especially if you face fast-moving Killers like The Blight and The Nurse (which in Asia Server we face Blight and Nurse a lot).

I propose to bring the status Incapacitated or Hindered are used, such as

    • after stunning the killer and escape their grasp. the killer gains -6% Hindered for 8 seconds.
    • after stunning the killer and escape their grasp. the killer will gain the status Incapacitated for 8 seconds. When Killer is Incapacitated Will not be able to use Power, for example The Nurse will not be able to Blink for 8 seconds.

    Sole Survivor (Laurie Strode)

This perk is difficult to actually use. and the opportunity to use it is considered small. Because if you are the last survivor in the game Obviously, you probably won't be repairing your generator again. Therefore the Increases your Repair speed by +75 % ability is very worthless.

what you will do When you are the last survivor. yes, find the Hatch. and if the Killer finds the Hatch first and closes it. The ability Increases your Gate and Hatch Opening speeds by +50 % is probably the only ability in this perk that is useful.

Each time a Survivor other than yourself is killed or sacrificed, Sole Survivor gains 1 Token, up to a maximum of 3 Tokens:

Grants a stack-able radius of 20/22/24 metres per Token around you, up to a maximum of 60/66/72 metres, within which you are immune to the Killer's Aura-reading abilities. / This ability is difficult to actually use because, at this time, the Killer has many perks that help find survivors, such as the Ultimate Weapon (Xenomorph Perk).

I think this perk should be buffed to make it more effective and usable, such as:

    • Ability 1: Increases your Gate and Hatch Opening speeds by +50 %. This ability is considered the most useful. And there is no need to change.
    • Ability 2: Each time a Survivor other than yourself is killed or sacrificed, Sole Survivor gains 1 Token, up to a maximum of 3 Tokens: Increases your Repair speed by 4/5/6% (no time limit)
    • Ability 3: Guarantees an Dull Key when unlocking a Chest.

    Left Behind (Bill Overbeck)

    • Added ability, can open closed hatch manually without using the Dull Key or Skeleton Key (14-second opening time is the same as cleaning the totem, and if you stop halfway, must start again from the beginning)

    Camaraderie (Steve Harrington)

    • buff: While you are on the Hook, you can press the "F" key for Camaraderie is active, the Struggle Phase timer is paused for 26/30/34 seconds.

Allows the Player to choose what to press when first hang. or the second hang.

Teamwork: Power of Two (Thalita Lyra) & Teamwork: Collective Stealth (Renato Lyra)

    • Remove distance and let this ability run for the full duration. Or it will stop working when one of them is attacked by the Killer.

    Reactive Healing (Ada Wong)

    • buff: When another Survivor loses a Health State within 96 metres (was 32) of your location while you are in the Injured State.

    No Mither (David King)

    • buff: When starting the game. no mither not active. you will not injured, the perk will be active after you are attacked and injured. Not show the UI broken status effect to the killer.

Soooo the counter to boil over is basically dropping when you realise oyu don't make it to a hook and you want to create a loose loose situation? Hell no dude, boil overs concept is already problematic in the sense that it is either useless or too strong.

DS might be too strong but the direction is OK.

Sole survivor is basically a free escape like this because you cannot check both gates and hatch...

Somewhat similar to left behind... Both basically give you an incentive to just be afk/stealthy all game long because you can just take hatch or gate when hatch got closed.

The teamwork perks would still be weak considering how little the bonus repair speed is for example.

Reactive healing sounds too much... Imagine four people running that, nobody needs to heal ever because they get healed instantly when the killer downs someone else, would be really broken

I guess no mither is fine.

  • @Lixadonna said:

The point of my post is feedback on Survivor perks becoming unusable. Not to discuss perks I named as examples and debate those.

How about you choose better examples then, because Thana is trash, it basically only does something when you have 4 people injured and that is rarely the case, so it is basically a niche perk.

There's a lot of different ways you can play Myers. Stay in tier one and go for pure stealth. Play the long game with Tombstone and Piece. He feels distinct, even from Ghostface.

My point was not as much about the strategy you can use with different killers but about the use of the power, for example using deathslingers power to shoot through tiny holes is different than huntress in some spots at least, whereas all you can do as myers is autoattack and stalk, sure your stalk might give you wallhacks, or insta down or eventually even a mori, but that's it. Nothing of his kit gives you much to learn from a mechanical standpoint.

That's why I said Nemesis and Alien are different, Aliens power is like a spear with a hitbox you can somewhat drag, at least up and down, i'm not sure if also horizontally. Whereas Nemesis can drag his whip sideways, because it already hits everything in a vertical way, which can result in some funny hits basically only he can get. The point is the gameplay differs, you are going for different hits, are able to get hits where other killers can not and so on and so forth.

Why is Wraith the only killer who needs an extended stun for counterplay?

Which other killer has a similar risk reward kind of thing? For example when you look at huntress with walking through the pallet or getting your hatchet ready you already have something similar, because of the slowdown she gets for mistakenly raising her hatchet you don't need a longer stun here, because putting away the hatchet already gives the survivor enough time to make another loop or in the other loose situation she will get stunned and you have to potential to make it to another tile.

I'm not saying they are exactly the same. I'm saying that there's enough similarity to other killers that people were likely to lose interest faster.

For me, unique killers are Plague, Nurse, Blight, Spirit, Oni, Myers. They all feel very distinct from each other. Whereas Xeno feels like a combination of other killers' abilities with slight stylistic tweaks.

The way you use Xenos power is quite different from everyone else, the part which allows you to hit over things is something that no other killer has in that form, so I think his gameplay is unique enough. Whereas Myers is one of the most basic m1 killers there is, how exactly is his gameplay unique? Unless you go for some mori addons.

  • @CatnipLove said:

I feel like the biggest negative with Xeno is that none of it's tools are unique. It's traversal options are similar to Freddy and Sadako. Xeno's M2 is just Nemesis' Tenticle. The killer is somewhat basic. Cool, but basic.

Xenos tail and Nemesis tentacle work completely different though, especially when you look at the hitbox of it... The only thing they have in common is a somewhat similar range.

How is his traversal through tunnels like a teleport? Both teleports give a audio/visual warning when they happen, Freddy even more than Sadako, that you almost cannot miss whereas with Xeno I have not noticed anything (directional). I think he is pretty unique in that sense.

taking more knives to down is drawback. your conflating adjusting aim as advantage when there is little to no advantage to adjusting aim. it is always better to throw 1 projectile and get a quick down from killer time efficiency stand-point. secondly, wraith is basic m1 killer at loops. learning wraith makes you good at like half the killer. the depth in killers comes in knowledge and experience, not mechanical skill. he requires both. that is why the average does poorly as trickster and only people that main him consistent do well with him. with wraith, anyone can do well with him. he is often a common killer suggestion to begin learning dbd. no hard feeling to Mr. Trapper.

You mean the same same drawback that gets basically completely reduced to nothing by his higher initial speed? His time to down someone if all knives hit is still just 2 seconds right? So even though he needs more knives now it does not matter too much since the throw speed also got increased. How is there little to no time adjusting? You're spamming the knives anyway. Also with higher windup time and more punishment at loops, if you were reffering to huntress there, she needs to charge her hatchet and gets punished way more severely for readying up a hatchet and putting it away than trickster does with his knives.

Wraith has a little bit more than just basic m1 killer gameplay but whatever.

There are a lot of people that just don't play killer. Health reasons or not. But the healt reasons are why I think they should let us opt out of playing one particular side when it comes to daily challenges.

I mean you can do whatever you want I just wouldn't buy a game where I don't like half of its content xD Especially if it is for health reasons.

I mean sure there could be lots of improvements for the dailies, for example weekly challenges would be great, or maybe even something like you get some little bonus if you play a game consecutive days or what not. I would prefer it to opt out of playing specific killers instead of the delete and get new challenge function.

I do not agree with your statement on players barely putting any effort in. most of killer in dbd are can be played with like 2 buttons. hold-W and m1. A lot of killer in the game have a very low mechanical skill-floor to use the power effectively. it is like set a trap, ring a bell, run fast with legion and press m1, you know? trickster's blades requires mechanical aim. the average player is not doing well with him. as a result, the public opinion of trickster is very low.

if you want my opinion from playing vs him as survivor, I find him easy to loop because he is extremely slow and his weaknesses towards LOS are easily exploitable so much so that I am pretty sure given a decent map layout, I think you can easily do 60 second chases with his current form even on your worst chases. The player that say he has no counter-play and that you cannot loop him is severe learn to play problem on survivor in my opinion. trickster deserves whatever buffs he gets because he is not good from my survivor point of view. Looking at numbers I don't really see much improvement from him other than him being a better m1 killer but I guess we will just need to play PTB to see.

First of all Wraith is a bad example since using his increased lunge around loops requires some skill. For Trickster hitting the knives is not that hard because you throw like 50 of them anyway... You can correct your aim while throwing, not like Huntress.

  • @Chaosrider said:

The only thing that changed is, that you dont get just facecamped, you also get hard tunneled for round about 10s if you unhook yourself. Great improvement i guess. Sigh.

So you didn't get hard tunneled before or what? It improves the chances for you to get off the hook, because the killer is not directly in front of it, nothing more... The option to hard tunnel you out after the unhook has been there all the time?

according generic statistics at all mmr. he had 2nd worst kill-rate only 1% behind nurse. He was 53% kill-rate and Nurse was 52%. So when you say he is easy to play. 95% of player-base severely under-performs with him. When a top 5% MMR player plays him, he gets nominal kill-rate with other ranged killers. only one-trick trickster player perform optimally with him. this proves he is not an easy killer because only people that main him do well with trickster. these stats are 1 year old from 2022 september but trickster has no changed since then so it is safe to say that nothing has really changed for trickster.

I don't think that is how it works... I would rather say that people that currently play him only do it for dailys or what not and barely put any effort in, sure there is some stuff you need to learn, for example when to pull out the knives and such, but there is really not much to him... He is a fairly simple killer with not much to get good at.

He has one set of add-ons that provide a buff while cloaked. Shadowdance is the only one. Every other add on does not provide action benefits. If the purple Shadowdance had an increased stun in exchange for the benefits it gives, that would be more than fair. But for everything else, why is that extra punishment necessary? The only other benefit outside of shadowdance is movement speed, but many other killers get movement speed with no additional stun requirements (ie Blight, Spirit).

Because it offers you some form of counterplay? The Wraith does not want to uncloak unless he can get a hit because it costs time, I just don't see the reason there to change something about Wraith currently, he really is just fine?

Ok so lets say he suffers the normal stun duration during cloak, so basically enduring is a given and then you just run through every pallet while cloaked, how does this add anything to the gameplay? At least currently you have this interaction about will he wont he fully uncloak , but that's gone because the stun is the same, he does not get punished if he gets it wrong, I think it is a nice interaction and I don't see a reason to change it.

The problem is if you are directly behind a survivor while you run through the pallet loop and uncloak you will basically get the hit with the increased lunge, so you create this lose lose situation for the survivor as I already explained before. And that's just not good gameplay.

It's easier to tell people over voice... if you are able to. If your teammates do not speak the same language as you, if you do not have a headset (for whatever reason), if you don't have the privacy to voice call without insane noise pollution, if you just want to avoid harassment based on gender or accent or whatever... then you'd be using the other methods for exchanging information.

Implement both at once if you must, but the voice chat won't achieve much and cannot be implemented on its own. It's important to correct your rundown on my take; it isn't that it wouldn't solve everything, it's that it wouldn't solve anything. You would still be at square one with the exact same problem: Some players can exchange information, and some cannot.

On a second note, noise pollution? Where on earth are you playing? Like you have a headset, obviously, otherwise the game sound would too much already, and then you cannot talk simple words? Are you playing in the public library or what is it you're trying to say?

I would still argue that those people who do not have a headset, or are afraid of whatever in voice chat or are playing god knows where are the vast minority so sure, for them it would not do much, but do you think they would be like just because I cannot have this advantage nobody should? Pretty sure they would be happy as well about new features, and like I said before they would perhaps also get information despite not distributing them themselves, If I play dota for example I never talk in voice, because I just don't feel like it, but I still listen if other people use it, which is perfectly fine. So even if they cannot or do not want to use the feature, they would still benefit from it to some degree.

Only the amount of players that have access to communication has drastically improved, which is not nothing. And still just because you cannot or do not want to communicate with the rest of your team does not mean they don't tell you stuff, which is still an increase in information.

Also it is not like you get the same players every game, so even if you have one game where nobody speaks your language it is not like this will happen every game, if you queue in central europe or america at least, in those regions this would probably be quite the advantage, sure in other regions maybe not as much, but then again at least it decreased the gap and improved the experience for a big part of the community.

That would be because those games tend to have other ways of imparting information on the player so they aren't solely reliant on whether or not the stars align for their teammates to be able to vc with them.

Also, you've heard one complaint, from me, about Overwatch. It is a thing in those games, but comms are both more expected in that genre and the games offer alternate ways of gaining information. For instance, those games can include a ping system, with minimal tonal concern- among many other methods.

Headsets may not be ultra expensive but ten bucks is sometimes more than people have. Put a gun to my head and tell me to buy a new headset right now, I wouldn't be able to. It's the least impactful of the reasons, yes, but it is still one factor of many that contribute to whether or not someone can benefit from a voice chat system-- and since the entire stated goal of implementing one in the first place here is to cut down on some having information and some being left out in the cold, that's relevant. If the solution doesn't work for everyone it necessarily cannot be considered a solution to this particular problem.

Yeah I know those games have it, but barely anyone uses it, because it is much easier to just tell people over voice... Maybe besides the ping system in dota to let your team know what item a specific enemy has, but other than that I barely see them used.

You would still get value even without a headset... Also I don't know man if you don't have ten bucks to spare for your hobby that seems like a reason to get a part time job or maybe even spend less time playing the game overall, not to sound judging, but like it is really not that much.

I find it a really idiotic argument to basically say, just because it only solves the problem in the vast majority of cases it is not relevant, it decreases the gap that's what matters... That would be like saying we do not get air bags for all cars, because it does not prevent any death caused by collision, like what?

If voice chat was the only thing we ever added to close the gap fine then you could keep searching for the perfect solution you would probably never find, but nobody said that. You can have more than one thing to fully close the gap, you could for example select languages you speak so you can get matched with people you can communicate with or decide you want a team without voice because you currently don't want to interact with anyone and what not, just because one solution does not solve everything does not mean it cannot be part of a bigger solution that basically solves it completely.

I understand why there is a chat filter and that the game generally doesn't like you to use any survivor names in post game chat, however the filter knows not to censor 'GLNM' so I feel like it should allow the name usage afterwards especially since a lot of people play on anonymous mode! Just a suggestion!

(I singled David out because he was the only other PC player in the lobby, and he unhooked me two times that trial, so I wanted to thank him specifically and wish him well!)

I hate the idea of a forced chat filter without the option to turn it off, it's a game with an age restriction, at our age we should be long over the point of caring what insults get thrown at by some weirdos on the internet, and even if not why can't I disable it? This has to be the single most patronizing game I have ever played.

It's no secret that Xenomorph's play rate has dropped tremendously since her release, she unfortuneately is just a pretty basic killer. She has a worse version of demo portals (Can't place them where you want, and the tunnel layout can be very confusing on some maps, especially on maps with multiple floors) and in Crawler mode she is just a wose version of teir 2 Nemesis (no quick recovery on attack, no ability to break pallets/walls) and outside of Crawler mode she's just an M1 killer with absolutely nothing, add the turrets to all of this, and it's obvious why she's not played (not even mentioning the bugs with her tail)

Personally, I think we should give her something to do besides crawling around and so I propose this:

While not in Crawler mode, the Xenomorph moves at 110% (Huntress speed) however she gains access to Acid Ball: After a short charge up (Think plague vomit) the Xenomorph can spit a ball of acid at Survivors to damage them from range (You can mess around with the range of the attack, I wasn't thinking Huntress hatches, more like a glob that falls off after some meters, so you won't have to worry about getting sniped with acid, but it has more range than her tail)

While in Crawler mode, the Xenomorph moves at 115% and gains access to the tail attack

I think this change would make her a more interesting killer to play as a proper form shifting killer where one form she moves slower but has more range and while in the other form she moves faster but has less range, and if you wanted, you could take the acid ball a bit further by allowing the acid to melt pallets and walls away and damage gens. I was even thinking something like coating gens with the acid, and survivors who try to repair the gen through the acid have an acid meter build up and once it's full, the survivor loses a health state (or is put into deep wounds if already injured)

I've loved the Alien franchise ever since I was little, pretty sure it was the first sc-fi horror movie I ever saw and I'm a bit dissapointed with how the designed Xeno, and how weak she sometimes feels to play

What? Worse than Demos portals? dude Xeno has probably the best map mobility... Not only are the portals nicely spread, the layout is only confusing if you don't select the portal you want to go to before entering, the speed is nice, you instantly get your power back and what not... The Xeno portals are great and I wish demos were more than this, so no more lenghty setup of portals.

The tail attack is more powerfull than Nemesis tentacle since he can hit overstuff Nemesis cannot. If you get burned out of crawler mode just re-enter the tunnels and in 3 seconds you have your power back, also with addons to make the turrets weaker you basically don't care about them at all.

I don't think Xeno needs anything, maybe some bugs fixed, but no buffs or anything, he is already one of the 10 best killers in the game.

I don't want him to have NO stun. I want him to have the standard stun duration and to not be forced to uncloak. There is a bug currently where that happens, and every time it does, I wish it was standard. Its so punishing when you are uncloaked on your end but due to latency the survivor gets the stun on the last frame, so you get an extended stun anyway.

Ok then, but he does get benefits to some actions while cloaked, so it is somewhat fine that he gets stunned longer, it is a risk reward type of thing, if the survivor drops the pallet to early you kick it really fast, but if you wait too long you get hit through the drop... I think it is fine as it is.

Not everyone does have the capability to get the information via voice or text chat, because of the language barrier, as well as the less important but still relevant hardware barrier for voice chat specifically.

Though, I will grant you that nothing we can do will actually rival SWF. The point should be, imo, to give all players info they'd need to make informed decisions in key moments. This information can't be gained through voice chat, it'd be too inconsistent, so other methods would be required.

I don't know man, I haven't heard complains from games like dota oder counterstrike that the voice chat is not working.

Also from a hardware standpoints, aren't all the consoles compatible with that? Or at least allow the use of a headset? Besides the point were you can get a headset for like 10 bucks so the price on this really is not an argument...

That's missing the point, though. You're talking about "most" or "at least one", when the solution has to work for everyone that is attempting to use it.

Europe, the servers that I play on for most video games, has a lot of instances of people on voice chat not speaking English. This was one of my biggest barriers for success in ranked Overwatch, back when I played that; playing on the EU servers meant that a huge number of my teammates overall could not communicate with me -- at least, not via voice. That game, though, gave a lot of information to players without the need for input from their teammates, and that is the direction DBD should go.

Voice chat would mostly work as a solution for NA servers - as indeed it does for other games, I visited Canada for a few weeks and playing ranked Overwatch there was much easier for this exact reason - but it wouldn't worldwide, and that means it doesn't work as a solution at all.

Just to be sure I'm not only shooting down other ideas, some examples of things that the game could do without running into this problem would be: Showing teammate's loadouts pre-game and in the match details screen mid-game, giving some form of basekit Kindred to know who is where when it's time to orchestrate a save, adding secondary information elements to a lot of perks and improving the ones that exist, and allowing Keys (+ to a lesser extent, Maps) to be substitutes for voice comms via buffing the heck out of their info elements. A ping system could work too, though I'd be wary about tone.

Such things will never work for everyone. Everyone has the capability to get the information via voice or text chat, you can as well deactivate it because you don't feel like communicating, but the language barrier will always be there, and even if we add a chat wheel or add aura reading it will still not be entirely equivalent to communication via voice chat with 3 other people that speak your language and that you are comfortable around speaking with them.

Other than the fact that if you don't drop the pallet and they uncloak you generally will get another loop because they have no uncloak speed addons then drop it while they are uncloaked like a normal killer or if you panic drop if you can spam vault it so they can't kick the pallet.

It sure doesn't look like a good idea if you play directly into their build or poorly but thats how a lot of things in this game look. Trust me that wraith build isn't even his strongest

I know, but in combination with no stun at all while cloaked it would be stupid.

  • @NekoAndromeda said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3572797#Comment_3572797

That combo already exists and has nothing to do with the stuns. If you have an issue with the add on combo, thats something else entirely. Wraith is the only killer who gets an extra long stun while using power. On top of another killer with a mini version of what he has, because Onryo does get a tiny boost out of demanifesting, is entirely rewarded for getting stunned when using the power.

My point was it would be rather dumb if this addon combo worked in a way where he is also stun immune, because what are you gonna do in that situation?

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3575842#Comment_3575842

You can't fix that issue with voice chat, because that isn't a homogenous group of players with the same tools at their disposal. It's a segmented set of groups, between players who have both the language and hardware to engage with it and the players who only have one, or who have neither.

The information you give solo players has to come from the game, not from their teammates talking to them.

If we are looking at some server regions, Europe and America, for example, most people there will be able to speak english, but sure, you could as well add a chatwheel function together with voicechat and text chat just to make sure that everyone has a way to communicate, that feature alone would work without additional hardware. But like if you can afford a pc or console to run this game you will most likely be able to also afford a headset, especially since it makes it harder to play against certain killers if you don't use a headset anyway.

I cannot really talk about the other server regions but considering you have over a billion english speakers wordwide you will probably encounter one every few matches. But I have to say I am yet to encounter a game with voicechat and or textchat where not at least one person was able to speak a language I speak.

I love to use STBFL while playing as killer. It's really strong perk and there is definetly a counterplay (for most killers) against it.

Problem is that counterplay is basically SWF only thing, because your friends will tell you STBFL is being used. There is not really a way to find out as soloQ, because you usually don't have a vision on killer's attack animation.

I wouldn't display it from start of the game, but make it work so it is displayed when killer gets like 4-5 stacks, which should be fine (that's kinda when you are able to tell from animation).

if only your team and never you get chased you should take chase so hooks can get spread more evenly keeping 4 players alive as long as possible, so if you are playing it right you should eventually find out.

trickster was always miserable to face, and always will be as long as his power works the way it does. this is probably the best they could have done without fully reworking him. He down faster but it takes more knives so more reloading, too. I could definitely see new main event being a problem though.

Only if you ignore the part where he gets main event super fast and does not use knives during that buddy... You might wanna rethink that.

I dont know, broken sounds more fun than having nothing to use and leaves the game at least feeling more fresh and casual when there are such options on both sides

Only as long as you re not on the other side facing broken stuff... I d rather have balanced stuff. You have enough stuff to use, some perks are rather niche and not very strong, but at least they don't break chase interaction completely. I think there are a lot of interesting perk combinations, but people barely use them because they are not the strongest... Not everything can be equally strong, but if you want diversity in your load out you will have to settle for weaker options as well.

Their map track record has not been good at all and the visibility issues are still just getting worse so I am of little faith.

I dont get the attitude of "this perk was OP so it being absolutely garbage now is fine". I want more usable perks in this game. We have enough terrible perks. Should never settle for garbage instead of strong. i.e Ruin.

Yeah sure would be nice, but if I have to chose between broken and garbage I would rather have garbage.

In this update, we’re aiming to address points of frustration for both sides

For Survivors, dodging Blades could feel inconsequential since so few would injure you, making it feel unavoidable.

Trickster is now completely overbuffed and has even less consequences to missing, can build up his camping focused main event in less than a health state and zones you completely for free now with 4,6 m/s.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N9PFIPIWWT0Y/image.png

MFT now is only useful with Dead Hard or against Legion, promoting perks being generally useless except niche frustrating scenarios. Great job!

Second, we’ve reviewed various pallets loops and reduced the amount of vegetation surrounding them, making it easier to identify loops at a glance.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SBAPIGNI2WVF/image.png

They actually just added more fog and everything is still impossible to see with 40 trees and bushes.

How is this entire update just: "We identified the issue,we now do nothing about it". What the hell is this, genuinely I dont understand this at all.

For the maps I would wait until we can see them, the fog in the picture might be just promo or whatever.

Yeah MFT got gutted, but then again the perk was busted so that's fine, still weird that it particularly hurts Legion now or is only usable with deadhard... Theoretically it adds a bit into the anti tunnel spectrum, because if you get hit off of hook you are now in deep wounds but faster... Same with off the record, so I guess it is at least something? But I agree they could have come up with a better change.

Considering that currently they are game breaking unbalanced. How is a Killer supposed to counter a full premade that has access to every information perk in the game and more?

Bring solo to the level of swf and balance around that... Basically add voice and text chat to the game so you have a homogenous group of players with the same tools at their hands if they wish to and now you can balance around it instead of having different groups. Not really that hard is it.
