  • First of all, you got one of the most survivor sides maps in the game, with a Killer who moves 4.4m/s. That's a big disadvantage, but does not mean you're guaranteed a loss.

If you get your first down & hook nearly 2 minutes into the game; that's on you. If the survivor is really good at looping AND they're in a good position, leave them alone and pressure others.

Dropping a chase isn't a bad thing. The quicker you learn this, the more successful you'll be in your Killer trials.

  • hands DOWN it is absolutely Oni and Doctor's menu themes

  • The matchmaking is broken because of two changes:

Any SWF lobby will search for a Killer that has the same rank as the highest ranked person in the lobby, and rank reset only sets you back one color (4 rank levels).

This is funneling every single survivor into the purple and red ranks, leaving no survivors for the lower ranked Killers, and leaving way way too many survivors to be matched with every red/purple rank Killer.

    This makes matchmaking:

    • Fast for low rank Survivors and high rank Killers
    • Slow for low rank Killers and high rank Survivors
  • I can't speak for anyone else, but the Ruin change isn't what had me mad. For all I care, they could delete Ruin; I've never used it.

The problem is that for many updates in a row, not a single core-game issue has been addressed, and more issues have been introduced.

Dedicated servers have been delayed for nearly half a year. Completely unbalanced, massive maps remain unchanged; so many of them have linkable loops that last forever. Every single update bugs the sound and multiple Killer powers. Keys, Moris, and Toolboxes still exist.

It just gets tiring after being around for so long and seeing no core issues fixed.

  • Every add-on for every Killer stacks, except for add-ons that apply status effects.

  • @Spooky13 @Watery

They stated in the PTB patchnotes that the "Movement Extrapolation" was a test merely for the PTB and would not be going to the live servers.

No, for the love of god don't touch that franchise after they've already cucked my three favorites.

I'm not up to date with the franchise, what happened to it?

  • Wraith easily goes to A tier with any Windstorm Add-on

But I agree, I've played Wraith a ton over my 2+ years in the game, and people who say he's weak are blatantly wrong. He's very powerful in the right hands.

In the very distant past, yes, though it has taken a lower priority over other features.

What has actually happened this game-year looks very different from the Year-4 roadmap.

  • How does charge efficiency work then? Like, for example, what's happening when you run an Emergency Med-Kit (the green one) with Botany Knowledge?

Are there separate numbers for item charges and charge contributions?

Because with Emergency Med-Kit and Botany, you're contributing 1.83 c/s, but then would that mean that you're only using 1.17 c/s out of the Med-Kit?

  • I've been a pretty big wraith main ever since I joined in 2017, and right now my 100% favorite build is:

Perks: BBQ, Pop Goes the Weasel, Save the Best for Last, and Sloppy Butcher

Add-ons you can go one of two ways. Either you can do:

Any Windstorm + Any Clapper OR The Ghost + Any Clapper

    Hands down the best build(s).

  • I think an item set that would make doors faster would be pretty cool. I think that if toolboxes got reworked to instead work on doors would be even cooler!

    @Peanits @PrettyFaceKate

Wake Up is actually pretty underrated. Next to Bond, it's probably one of my favorite perks. It makes the difference between escaping and being sacrificed all the time, especially if you're the last survivor.

I've met all kinds of people playing this game over the course of the years. Some types of people are fairly similar:

    - one type of dbd player acts all chill from the beginning and remains pretty chill as they just don't care too much about the game in the first place. That's usually the kind of person however that doesn't play dbd "too much" and spends a lot of time on other games besides dbd.

    - then there's the angry addict that has been getting triggered by small things from day 1. That's usually the kind of person that stays angry no matter how much time passes. I always suggest to stop playing dbd completely with no exception if someone is that kind of person as there are healthier games out there that can provide just as much fun minus the "stress" that this kind of person experiences playing DBD.

    - another type of dbd player I noticed is the person that starts off chill but gets kinda salty the more time they spend playing dbd as they think they "deserve" to have a good gaming experience at all times which just isn't possible in ANY pvp game. PVP games always require luck and skill for a good experience. This type of person either quits the game, starts playing it rarely or keeps playing it in a rather sour/salty way like certain streamers who are streaming at this very moment.

I don't think there's really certain "people". It just comes down to who you are, and how you react to things. Extending from that, the things that help people calm down are different for different people too.

I think it's rather unfair to categorize people like that. Instead of thinking of them as categories, think of them as people. Have some empathy; maybe they had a bad day and want a fun game. You can't know for sure anything about people on the other side of the screen.

  • Bond is significantly better, as it gives you constant and consistent information. I used to use empathy, in a time long past, before I had teachables.

Now, it's really only useful if you're doing a Mettle of Man quest, or flashlight saves, or an Autodidact quest.

  • I've been playing since 2017, and let me tell you, I've been there. A lot.

Over my time playing the game, honestly, the best you can do is take a break before being tilted. If you notice yourself starting to get mad at little things in the match, take a 30-some minute break. Drink some water, get a snack, watch Youtube, whatever. Then you can come back with a fresh mind.

  • Comparatively to perks that give a much greater advantage, there are many that serve little to no use. Many perks are overshadowed by specific perks that do the same thing, but better. There's also perks that are band-aids to fix broken mechanics, there's perks that don't fit the meta, and there's perks that have effects that do close to nothing.

Bitter Murmur, Blood Echo, Bloodhound, Brutal Strength, Coulrophobia, Cruel Limits, Fire Up, Furtive Chase, Hangman's Trick, Huntress Lullaby, Third Seal, Insidious, Mindbreaker, Monstrous Shrine, Overwhelming Presence, Predator, Remember Me, Spies From the Shadows, Surge, Territorial Imperative, Tinkerer, and Zanshin Tactics.

    All of these need changes.

The least useful one though? It's a no-use tie between Hangman's Trick, Monstrous Shrine, Predator, and Zanshin Tactics.

  • Haddonfield, Gideon Meat Plant, Hawkins, or Ormond. Those are the ones that need it the most.

  • Killers don't want 3-4 kills a match, they want a fair match. When you lose, it doesn't feel deserved. Even winning sometimes it doesn't feel deserved. There's too many broken and unfair mechanics.

(Also dev stats are completely meaningless. They use a tiny test-group and skew the data.)

  • Most of the rewards are okay, but none of them are as cool as the ones we got from the first rift.

(Still baffled they just slapped in a recolor of a default trapper weapon though)

  • Updating the list again! More things of the past. This includes changes from 3.2.0 to 3.5.0

    • Old Insta-heals (Hooray!)
    • Old Nurse (Hooray?)
    • Stealth Killers suffering at the hands of Object players
    • Rank reset piling all the players into green ranks
    • Old janky/broken protection hits
    • Balanced Landing (RIP)
    • Hex: Ruin (RIP)

It should never have been an idea in the first place, a ranking systems only purpose is so people play with and against players of similar skill level, if the matchmaking is so bad that they want to hide the info, that's messed up.

I agree. I'm glad they removed the change.

  • Look at the patch notes they just dropped. They removed this change.

  • The lighting isn't new. It's been like this for nearly a year.

What's wrong with the lighting though? It's just light. I don't see the difference either way.

Haddonfield is going to be the hardest map to rework by far. It’s comprised of houses, fences and a street. They’re gonna have to either give it the Badham treatment, or completely rebuild the whole map.

They are giving it the badham treatment. It says on their roadmap that they're doing a map rework every other midchapter i.e. the midchapter after Chatper XIV.

  • Yeah we kinda need the next update to just be a big fat QOL update. Add in more performance options, make the wiggle/struggle buttons more accessible, add colorblind modes, fix the matchmaking so you get matched up with people your rank, and also make matchmaking not take 5+ minutes.

  • I would put Freddy and Demogorgon right next to eachother tbh. They both have similar powers, but each with their own upsides and downfalls. Demogorgon might be higher though, after his hotfix.

2.6 is 100% of the time it takes to break a pallet

With a simple rule of 3

    2.6 - 1

    1.75 - X

    2.6*x= 1.75

    X=1.75/2.6

    1.75/2.6 = 0.673

    Meaning, it's 32.7% faster.

I literally have no idea where you even got 1.485714282 from

It's how charges work. DbD's math is all based on charges. You're thinking in very basic math, unrelated to DbD.

  • This. Upvote.

Adam has so much possibility for clothing and all he has is "college student", "70s disco man", and "college student but with a camera".

Pretty much every other Survivor and Killer (barring the licensed ones) have more cosmetics than him.

  • @DingDongs I'm not being Killer or Survivor sided here.

I understand that both sides have game breaking, unfun combos, but this is a more prevalent one.

Due to the fact that these perks exist, and there could be more on the way. Right now it doesn't present that big a problem, but it will eventually.

  • @Weck I'm talking about DbD's funky charge percentages

    2.6 / 1.485714282 = 1.75

    So it's a ~49% faster break.

  • It does, but only a little.

I don't have all the numbers, but Shred takes 1 second to charge, and can only be released at 65% i.e. 0.65 seconds.

In between the 0.65 seconds and the full 1.00 seconds, the time at which you release will make a small difference, around 1 to 2 meters less lunge the earlier you release.

  • @Clockso unfortunately Brutal Stength only affects the pallet kick interaction, not the shred break.

  • @DingDongs just because the Killer "uses three perks" doesn't mean anything. I don't know why that's an argument people are using recently, but it's not a good one.

Just because a Killer uses three perks to make something broken or unfun doesn't mean it isn't broken or unfun.

P.S. 36 extra seconds makes a very big difference.

Not to mention perks like this are multiplied and not additive. So it's actualy even less than a 34% debuff

    yeah sorry bout that

0.18 * 0.16 is actually about 29%. So not that big a difference anyways.

  • @Salty_Pearl

you do know that Freddy has always technically made everyone oblivious, right?

He's perfectly fine where he is. If you don't want to be in the dream world, you can break out pretty easy.

  • I love dbd because it's like no other game out there.

There really isn't any asymmetrical game with as much depth or variation as DBD.

I can slash people with Freddy and teleport around with Nurse or SUPER lunge at people with Demodingus etc etc.

Along the past two and a half years I've accumulated 1.6k hours and I've got many of my friends into the game as well, because playing with friends makes it even more fun.

I remember way back in 2017 when I mained myers and the game kinda sucked for killers, but I would still have so much fun sneakin around and stabbin people. Then late 2017 was like peak toxicity for DbD and I had to take a couple months break.

I came back around the time the emblem system launched, and that was neat and all but the huge update drought from January to May 2018 was kinda sucky. And the horror of the Howling Grounds event...I still have flashbacks.

And then Clown came out and everything was great! No more pallet vacuums oh my! And then the Spirit update brought the new Wraith and longer healing! But, then we had Legion. We don't talk about Legion.

And so, Plague and the EGC came out and Legion got nerfed into the ground and all was well. Ghostface had the worst PTB reception to date, and now he's an oddball Killer with inconsistent mechanics. Then the long awaited Freddy Rework came and THAT was super awesome, as a long time Freddy main.

And so, that brings us to now. Stranger Things and a much better menu flow and soon-to-be dedicated servers. DbD is a very unique game with dedicated players and devs, and I'm glad to be part of the community.

I think we've all done a pretty good job so far.

Most Jane players I encounter tend to play like they're playing with one hand.

Well, whaddya think the other hand is doing...

  • Yeah my analog sticks have a huge ground-in indentation from spinning them over the last 2 and a half years.

Sloppy, Thanatophobia and Dying Light? How to fix that when injured? Don't heal lol.

Hex: Ruin slows the game down and requires you to play better, just live with it.

Ruin hardly slows the game down, at top tier play. Good survivors can hit their greats.

I'm talking about how boring a longer bar makes the game. There isn't really a skill factor involved in making a charge bar take longer.

  • @Volfawott said:

Even though it was only for a brief period of time I still like to think back to the Instance where you could get a pallet save or a flashlight save at any stage of pick up animation.

That's what the horror of the Howling Grounds Event was.

  • Time to update this list again!

    • Old Frederick
    • Peer to Peer connection!
    • SWF groups disbanding after every match
    • one perk per bloodweb
    • Dying Light (Tunnel Edition)
  • I mean, because of the way that hatchets arc, and the fact that huntress is taller than most survivors, the pretty extreme majority of hits are headshots anyways.

So this isn't that much of an improvement.

  • It's on purpose homedog

  • Very cool, thank you SenzuDoink.

  • Anyone on PC, is it out right now?

  • T minus 49 minutes babey

  • An hour and 43 minutes from now.

  • I sure am! This is one of, if not THE biggest update they've ever done. I am SUPER hyped! Only two hours to go before the ptb drops!

  • Yeah her full Lullaby is like 5 minutes long, but whenever you begin a chase, she stops humming and the sound file gets reset.

  • You can't entirely blame the devs...

This idea of pressure is actually relatively new. I've seen the term start being used around the 2.7.0 chapter, so March-April 2019 is around the time the meta builds/strategies changed to revolve around pressure.

Given that it's such a relatively new idea, the devs have only started balancing around it since Ghostface.

Also, given your situation, you just got really unlucky. Which is, frankly, still a big problem with some of the older content in DBD that still hasn't been fixed.

Autohaven has very overpowered loops on it, Ruin isn't a reliable pressure perk and can't be used if you want consistent results, and slugging will only work if you know where other people are, i.e. using Infectious Fright.
