It was annoying but at least you could outplay the perk whitout using enduring
Is abusing hard-coded timers without any input from the opposition really an outplay? Or just technical knowledge?
At least if you leave them slugged for 60s you still have to proxy their body and the Survivor can crawl away, rather than relying on the team not having a flashlight (or having downed the Survivor under a Pallet) in order to spam pickup/drop.

New feature, though I'm surprised this is something they didn't have QA run through.
Was the Killer just using a Basic Attack, or any kind of Power?

Don't do that. Don't give me hope.
Outside of nostalgia, was dribbling DS that great of a feature?

Step 1: Give Survivors on first-hook the ability to reveal the Aura of the Killer within 32m of hook if they have LoS
Step 2: Give Survivors that have decayed into 2nd stage BT/DS

but regardless of the circumstances bumping X mechanic makes Z utilizers of such more powerful
that's just something people have to deal with and wait and see how it goes because you just can't have every killer perk in the game being hamstrung by 'but nurse!' forever, for example
Right, unless you also introduce a new mechanic.
Take for example Keys and hatch.
It was bad that Keys + Hatch introduced a method in which Survivors that could hard genrush could get their entire team out from hatch and skip the Exit gates, potentially circumventing a large amount of additional gameplay. It was also good that the recent last-Survivor standing criteria was introduced.
However it was also good for Survivors who had hatch closed on them, searched a chest, found a key, and then escaped through that same hatch. It was bad that this was removed.
However it was bad that Survivors could take comfort in the lack of hatch-grab to just take that key, BM in front of the Killer, and exit at their leisure (However it was good that the hatch-grab was removed initially as it prevented standoffs.). Requiring no form of stealth and just meant that once you found the hatch, and found the Key, you could beeline it there with no repercussion (so long as you were healthy). It was good that an animation was introduced to encourage players to use the hatch once they reach it else the Killer someone interrupt them.
Overall, if you increased the reliability of mechanics resulting in a 4K from only the Killers input, regardless of the skill of Survivors, you would need to introduce a method that would allow Survivors to escape regardless of the skill of the Killer (However given this is asymmetrical, only for the last Survivor, or perhaps the last 2 Survivors based on other criteria)
Currently the Hatch changes does that. However currently it doesn't factor into account that the lack of Skill in the MMR ratings means that if you're in a Stomp game it's basically hopeless for Survivors apart from the last one (which the Killer can circumvent by slugging for the 4K). Killers still generally have this in the form of the EGC Hook (albeit reliant on skill if not using NOED).

you can 4k at any time off of good plays vs altruism bombing, generally if you want a longer match you're after bp/hook stages/chases
Right, but one is solely self-centered at the detriment of others, whereas the other is self-centered but also generally improving the overall experience for others.
-
Are you running slowdown to try and get a 4K, or are you running slowdown to get more match interaction/hooks?
-
Just had an infinite load-screen, noticed that the Loading screen was the default loading screen rather than the Event loading screen.

The issue is not finding the totems per se. It is just already killer time management is a mess and it only gets worse having to do this.
So long as you're snuffing out the Totems along your patrol and can find them quickly, snuffing out the Boon Totem nets you a time benefit. (14s for a Survivor to place the Totem vs the ~6s shift of your route)
-
It's easy to listen for and find the Boon Totems if you have a Headset with the shift in volume using your angle of approach to determine the Totems direction. (Not to mention a headset gives you directional audio compared to TV speakers.
However if you don't have that it's poorly designed.
(Edit: And if it's a mutli-floor map, it can be a bit BS)
-
I like the new tech they've introduced, ability to increase and replace Totems with different types of "Totems" that can apply an effect on the player after interacting.
I like the bit of randomness yet minimal impact Totems provide ( with a slight BP and RNG novelty incentive)
I like the merging of a "rift track" directly into a tome that provides a more in-world layout to the "Event rift" (Will be interested if the Battlepass ever shifts more into that kind of direction, such that you can always "unlock" the premium rift challenges in previous tomes, or if the free track is simply merged into the tomes themselves, or some other method).
However I would say that the in-Trial gameplay feels very detached from the Event tome progression. There's no notification of partial progress as you complete various activities, and it's more about being a stat-tracker against existing gameplay than anything tied into the new Event.
-
It's called a honeypot.
The moment you respond with "GG, Thanks!" or any other variation of the sort, you've fallen right into their trap: Friendly Competition...
Mild annoyance smoothed over by pleasantries? What kind of wistful thinking fool desires such a fate?... *shudders*… the horror...

Both. Having something you can only do during an event like the interaction with the pumpkins should stay with the event. If they had it as an every day thing it would remove it being special and the devs reskinning it for events would be seen as lazy.
Fair enough. (Though the irony is not lost on me that in this case the reduced effort in order not to be seen as lazy is in fact being lazy)
-
@bm33 said:
They should keep them special to the event.
The Pumpkin skins themselves? Or the (concept of a) low-impact interactable map object?
-
I think part of it is to do with Tile variation potentially being a problem with regards to some edge-cases, but consistent Totems spawns should be easily tested with an in-house Perk that shows all Totem Auras, a Setting that spawns all Totems, and simply making the Killer/Survivor perform the cleanse action that breaks the Totem (such as to allow testers to be able to do a sweep and keep track of the Totems).

I wish we could have them the whole year, but when an event is in, they change for something else. I like the chance of the haste effect, gives something else to do.
Put it into Feedback and Suggestions.
Could be a new Map Augment Offering type.
(Only one Map Augment is consumed if multiple are brought of the same type)
Now that the Blight Event series is over, utilize the Pustula Petals as the base for the new Offering:
Pustula Petal - Ultra Rare Map Augmnet (Permanent)
- Evokes distant memories which encroach into the Trial
- Small cankerous growths spawn within the Trial grounds
- Crushing these growths as either Survivor or Killer has a chance to Haste or Hinder
Could also turn the Cursed Seed Event Offering into a conditional Offering that can be used outside of the event as well (to encourage mass hoarding of them as a kinda "status" symbol like the Anniversary cakes)
Cursed Seed - Event Map Augment (Event Only)
- During the Event, spawns additional Tangled Hooks and Generators.
- Outside of the Event, spawns pumpkins that grant bonus BP and has a chance to Haste or Hinder.

And you can get as much value out of those as you can from videotape. What does it matter if they're exhausted or blind if they're sitting on a gen? What does it matter if they're exhausted or blind if they can remove the trap on first try before you even find them?
You don't play Survivor do you? Also, literally it's so they try to take the Trap off rather than sit on gens and not bother with the Trap at all while it's bugged.

Meanwhile I'm happy that several articles were written about the negative reaction towards Boss Protocol (Which also contained a general negative attitude towards NFT's in general), a general negative attitude towards Boss Protocol on Twitter (who only have about 250 followers). Which will hopefully help quash future partners from trying to use such cash-grab tactics (especially using blockchains as inefficient as Ethereum)
Still wish that BHVR didn't openly endorse Boss Protocol though. And if they're involved in the Saw or Texas Chainsaw Massacre's NFT's (Should they also be using Ethereum) I will probably drop this game for good.
-
Put on Facemask or Slow-release Toxin.
Survivors don't usually like being blinded or Exhausted.
-
IMO the FOTM Cosmetics should be able to be partially earned with event Currency or fully purchased with Auric Cells, locked until the next associated Event when they're able to be Auric/Shards purchased, locked again until the 3rd associated Event when they become permanent Shop features with a static Auric cost and an inflated Shards costs that normalizes every subsequent associated Event.
-
Oh right: That one blight Event with the Serum's: You had agency on what parts of an outfit you unlocked first. You also had to choose what you wanted with the event currency as you couldn't get everything.
This Event: Follow the rails. (But the challenges are nice, but could have had them award event currency to be used in an event shop)
-
That one Blight Event: Multiple instances of progress during the match represented on an on-screen "tracker" that was always visible.
This Event: Kick a pumpkin, get a BP notification in the upper-right that disappears, and only see progress once you exit the match.

It's at least a start (and seems to have implemented the Blight Serum into a more on-demand and less janky feeling fashion, though with a bit of RNG and need to stop by the pumpkin)
-
Or cap event BP from Event Gens to a point and then introduce an extra Gen so the Atmosphere of the Trial is consistent across all Players.
Or just make all Gens/Hooks Event Gens/Hooks and have the Offerings simply increase the amount of BP gained from each. (And if you want a physical effect to the Offerings, could have it spawn in an extra pumpkin or something).

As far as we know. Could be that Butterball will be NFT exclusive.
From Boss Protocol's FAQ
How is Boss Protocol involved with the Hellraiser chapter of Dead by Daylight?
Boss Protocol has the official license to create NFTs based on Hellraiser using the in-game models that were created for Dead by Daylight. The company worked with Boss Team Games who controls certain interactive rights to Hellraiser from Park Avenue Entertainment and worked with Behaviour Interactive to bring Hellraiser and Pinhead to Dead by Daylight.
Will any Dead by Daylight content be locked behind a Boss Protocol NFT or require a Boss Protocol NFT to access?
No. The access granted via some of the Pinhead NFTs in this collection is to the Hellraiser chapter of Dead by Daylight on PC and there is no other DBD content that can be unlocked with the NFT. The NFTs exist as unique digital collectibles and have added benefits like rewarding certain owners with signed collectibles, and other benefits that will be revealed and delivered in the future.
Sidenote: The second FAQ answer contains a lie. The NFT will not grant access to DBD (and as such you cannot trade the Chapter), but rather the signup to purchase the NFT will put you into a lottery to be one of 10/10,000 that gets the DBD Hellraiser Chapter and then they give you the Chapter-key. I do not see a way in which they can link the key to the NFT without breaking Steam's ruling.
So, like with most NFT's at the moment, Boss Protocol is selling you a glorified PNG key and then sending you a lootcrate instead of literally using a goddamned subscription service that uses magnitudes less energy on database maintenance.
-
Exhaustion Perks. (not that I'd lock them to a Character or have each Character release with one, but the cooldown effect for a strong bonus that locks other Perks of the same class out is basically an "ability")
The "Powers" you're listing could be made into standalone passive Universal Perks under some kind of "Last Stand" category.
-

I'd willingly use the survivor that has the perk I want to use. My point is that right now "I'm a Nea main" doesn't mean ANYTHING because anyone can use all of her perks... yanno?
Uh, I mean it means you main Nea. You like her Character, her Outfits, Lore, whatever.
If you want to talk about your favorite game mechanics you can just simply say what your favorite Perk loadout is. Your favorite Exhaustion Perk, you love being a chaser, gen-jockey, Hook rescuer, etc.
What, next you want to lock Items to Character too so you can use fewer words to say what Items you like?
Maybe only Dwight can hide in Lockers, and only David can use Pallets. Sounds good to me.

I think youre agreeing with me but its hard to tell... As we saw during the period with the DS bug giving no stun - if DS wasnt a thing tunneling skyrockets. If DS has a visual tell (or not) - tunneling would also skyrocket.
Yeah and if those Perks get gutted maybe the gameplay designers will see why they're so meta and perhaps integrate them into the base-game in some manner...
-
Would your favorite Survivor by any chance have their own Teachable that you primarily use? Or would you be willingly locking yourself into another Survivor that you don't main to use your favorite Perk?
-
You "remove" DS/BT and you can get a better understanding on how the perceived unknown of DS/BT influences Killers actions at a high MMR. The assumption being that by adding a "tell" to DS/BT, it will show how ingrained these Perks are into DBD's core.

A visual indicator for DS would just mean that everyone that didn't run it would be tunnelled for free. That's kinda why there's now an obsession in each match - the ones without were tunnel fests
This is a buff for gathering statistics

Both nature and technology are important. And, in my opinion, there are two ways:
Humanity follows the path of technology and causing some harm to nature, they begin to actively develop the electric power industry due to a lack of energy.
Humanity is more slowly developing technologies to reduce harm to nature, more slowly approaching the ceiling of energy. Thus, it postpones the development of the electric power industry.
And what do you think?
That Humanity follows the path of technology with an understanding of its harm on nature leading to a technological drive to improve energy efficiency to keep nature lookin' good so we've got something pretty to look at while using that energy.
It's not a binary yes/no we screw over the environment in exchange for technological progress, advancement of renewable tech is tech advancement in and of itself with the environment in mind.
We just need people that don't think it's a binary equation....
Develop your energy infrastructure, and make it more efficient and sustainable so we have compounded the gains for long-term benefit.

Balancing around hooks would be good but the matchmaking really shouldn't resolve around that.
If it did then a killer could get 3 kills with 3 hooks and go down in mmr. Meaning he faces less experienced survivors which means their camping is going to pay off even more.
Eventually you'll have a low mmr where it's infested with campers and potato survivors. And good luck getting mmr by escaping out of the gate when every match is against a camper with teammates who don't know how to deal with it.
You would create a low mmr hell
Gaining mmr means you should face stronger opponents. Usually it's because you are too experienced for who you are facing now.
But i would argue that a person who gets 3 or more kills by camping also should start facing stronger opponents who know how to deal with it
So basically an "Emblem system" rating as well that tries to pair similarly "Engaging" players.
The ongoing MMR keeps you out of the low MMR hell, and the "Emblem system" matches you with players who engage a lot with the game.
Or basically: having kept the old Emblem System but introducing an additional MMR filter to raise up players who have a high K/D while at a low emblem score...

-
So, Survivors need to have their end-game improved when their team ######### up (Hatch doesn't mean anything for the KBMM). Kinda like how Killer has the capability to camp last Hook. Items need to be nerfed a bit (specifically Toolboxes). And DS/BT need visual indicators.
-
"I don't understand the hype around the NTF"
Then why are you defending them.
Outside of environmental impact, or even blockchain tech, many commercialized NFT's operate under the same phycologically predatory practices as lootboxes in order to market to their consumer base.
"Think of the prestige you could earn and the respect from others by having something they don't, and those lucky few that get the uber-standing drop are the bestest and most lucky people in the world!"
La-la-la snake-oil.
Boss Protocol: Do you like gambling, anti-consumer practices, and harming the environment all bundled into one deal? Hop on in!
They (probably) literally lie on their website roadmap stating that the NFT's provide DBD Hellraiser access. (When it seems that it's actually just 10 randos from their subscriber pool)

If that’s your takeaway then I don't hold out much hope for your success in college, or your future job prospects...or the environment for that matter, if you've anything to say about it 😂
Honestly though, why are you so angry? This has clearly pushed a few buttons.
I couldn't care less about NFTs. I'm simply calling out hypocrisy and fake activism with basic points. The responses I'm getting prove the points I've already made.
It's an absolute, irrefutable fact that the sale of T Shirts on the merc store has had, does have, and will continue to have a considerably greater impact on the environment than anything BHVR is doing with NFTs.
Its not even close! Yet nobody cares! Who could have seem that one coming, right?
You even admit yourself that you just don't care! Why could that be!?
You think you're doing your part and those thoughts could come with good intentions, but the reality is you're supporting and benefiting from a plethora of luxuries which harm the environment everyday, and going to college won't make a dent in your footprint.
You’re in no position to judge anyone.
Dunno, I don't think you've considered the opportunity cost of criticizing people going to College meaning they'll choose not to potentially suffer from higher-learning and apathy which could have resulted in them refusing to have kids, ultimately severing their future genetic lineage's carbon impact on all future generations which given the Universal scale of time could make their current carbon cost of going to college unimaginably small in comparison, my dude.

Where have I ignored the problem? I'm directly addressing it. I'm here bringing to light a larger threat hidden in plain sight. T Shirts.
Forget NFTs. We can come back to them later. What matters is the environment, right? The absolute fact of the matter, which nobody refute, is that BHVRs involvement in the sale of T Shirts has had a significantly larger footprint than any of their involvement with NFTs, and it will continue to do so.
So why does nobody seem to care? Very interesting indeed.
Sure, we can show our displeasure at BHVR for their involvement with NFTs. That's fine! There comes a point however where something needs to actually be done. At this stage we’re simply increasing the carbon footprint with all these posts.
These T Shirts are meaningless luxuries. Excess. With all these environmentally-minded individuals turning up to the forums, I see this as a fantastic opportunity to form a collective where we can actually make a genuine, impactful difference. That's what's important, right? The environment.
We need to stop fighting and come together to stop the sale of T Shirts on the merc store, immediately.
And what I don't think you understand is that NFTs and current cryptocurrencies facilitate said transactions of everything including T-shirts. Unlike an end-product it is attempting to be (and somewhat already is now) a foundational method for product transactions. Even if you abolished T-shirts you'd still have crypto in the background with Crypto Mike™ giving you the Hamberder™ you ordered and then siphoning the gas from your car onto the dirt for shits-n-giggles.
You're free to dispute any wasteful product you want, but you cannot simply choose to then ignore its even more wasteful underlying infrastructure when there are more efficient alternatives already readily available. Well, you can, but you shouldn't be taken seriously if you do. (And yes, I get it that you're trolling, it's actually quite an amusing thought-exercise ngl).

idk what's bullshit about what I said. I for one dont mindlessly consume products and do opt for the more efficient with the exception of rare indulgences. Which sure, call me a hypocrite, but at the end of the day my singular contributions are so insignificant compared to those of the companies people try and defend it doesn't matter how I try to improv my lifestyle for the betterment of the world. That's the sad truth of the matter
Good, you're voting with your wallet instead of using the same old product regardless. That apathy of "we can't do anything against corporations" is what I find bullshit since at the very least what you could do is just make a more informed purchase.
Hence why there is all this whining in the first place so people have more information to make a more informed purchase (or vote).

that attitude of ignoring the problem on favour of calling people hypocrites is a huge issue in itself. At least people who complain about the issues at hand actually acknowledge them. And aren't ignorant because "they participate in society" you realise, consumers have no power in stopping global warming? we as consumers can do nothing to corporations. It's governments that need to pull their weight and do what people voted them in to do. And if they don't, vote them out and get in people with the will to pass bills that will aid in stopping global warming.
The thought that the consumer is to blame and they should feel bad because they buy products that are from a company contributing to global warming is asinine. Why should the consumer be to blame when it's the companies fault for not moving to a sustainable source of energy and production? consumers have no say in how a corporation runs their business, governments do.
In the case of BHVR and DBD, we as a community have the ability to stop BHVRs endorsement of NFTs, because they are objectively bad, your moral compass doesn't matter, NFTs are a problem because of their horrid energy consumption. and their use in illicit activities because of their decentralisation. In making BHVR stop their endorsement we can set an example for other gaming communities to hopefully take their stance if NFTs find their way to their community.
I mean that attitude is also bullshit.
If you can, buy or use the more efficient product.
Ergo, just use a credit card or press ctrl+c/ctr+v

The point is all these sudden eco warriors are posting on a forum, for a game that is a massive luxury, essentially wasting energy. Does it pale in energy consumption to NFT's, yes, but if you are truly that much an eco warrior why are you using energy to complain about using energy?
