at this point they really should just make her a separate killer.

    Trickstress

  • There are a decent number of unique killer powers, like recent Vecna's that truly give a unique twist on killer powers. And so is skull merchant for the mains that truly understand her abilities. As well as singularity. For people that master them.

Though I feel like we're missing out with one very important killer; trickster.

Trickster could have one of the most unique playstyles in the game, as well as mastery ceiling, if it had been for this one thing: Base ricochet.

For such an amazing and unique mechanic, based around mastery and muscle memory to fully utilize the unique playstyle that it brings, unlike with any killer, it is sad to see that it is limited to a very rare addon.

I feel like it hasn't done Trickster justice, especially after the rework and the hype. If anything, I feel like, to make trickster the unique killer he deserves to be, ricochet should be basekit without the other bonusses of that add-on, so that trickster mains may truly master this super unique and interesting playstyle and game-mechanic that hasn't been seen on any other killer in such a fashion

I believe that ricochet basekit is the one thing that the trickster rework is truly missing, and would make trickster worthy of their own name; trickster, full of tricks and blade bounce logic, that dedicated trickster mains may fully train their muscle memory on, by being able to utilize the skills attached to it and have it available in every single match.

As of right now, trickster sadly is not a strong killer at all, and with all the hype, I feel like he deserves this one good thing coming to him.

If you are in team ricochet trickster, share your love in the comments down below ❤️

EDIT: I've since altered some of my opinions as expressed in

The problem with those Perks is simply that you have the conflict of your own fun vs. team efficiency. Obviously people should run whatever they want, since it is their fun. But then you also have to keep in mind that it is a Team game for the Survivors, so if you spend your time looting chests, you are not really contributing to the team.

This is completely dependent on whether the perk is properly balanced. If the team benefit of what they get out of the chest is more beneficial than running around the map for over half a generator then having a chest perk is in fact efficient, but right now all chest perks are just bad, which is sad.

  • @zonkednb said:

Genuine question; does anyone use rummage quirks (maybe outside of some silliness with ingenuity) seriously? I've only ever thrown them on for archives or chest quests.

I would honestly love to use them bc they're more healthy than just bringing items into the match, but sadly finding chests or booking it to basement is a gamethrowing amount of time as of currently 😓

I’ll give the same response I did in the other “nerf Blight” thread.

Blight is fine. I can count on one hand the number of god-level Blights I’ve ever gone up against. Most of my matches against Blights have been quite fun. He’s not that difficult to counter. I’d take a Blight over Skull Merchant or Legion (boring), Ghoul (still busted OP), Singularity or Pinhead (OP against solo queue) any day. At least Blight is interactive to go against and has a good amount of counterplay.

If you think Blight is OP and gets easy wins, try playing him yourself. I found him quite difficult to master, so it’s not surprising that (similar to Nurse) I don’t see a lot of really good Blights.

The thing is, you don't really need to be too good on blight to make him work since he's really forgiving, unlike nurse, which is also why the blight winstreak is so much higher. That is why such a strong killer doesn't need that much handholding and being forgiven for being misplayed.

That is why the proposed changes focusses on him retaining his massive potential during chase when played right, but gives survivors a more fair timewin when properly countering or mindgaming him.

Unironically, the current proposed nerfs might make blight players become even better at the killer, as currently they can get away with a lot of slop-plays, but with these changes they have to think more thoroughly about how to use his power, making blight players become better at his unique power than ever before, as misplays are less forgiving

  • The intent is really, to say whatever his regen speed is (say 2 units per second), that in the rework it will be 1 unit per second, and only becomes 2 units per second if he hits a survivor during his rushes. If he doesn't hit a survivor, it will be 1 unit per second + 110% movement speed for that duration

  • @top500spiderman said:

If I were to guess, blight being nerfed isnt in their near future plans at all. He doesn't need a nerf.

Blight has quick down potential on purpose.

That is why we've kept the quick down potential for this rework, but we did remove the freeby mass map control he gets for free as an uninteractive concequence of his power. He's just more punished for failing and the survivors playing well, rather than getting most of his misplays forgiven by low cooldowns and spam

Slowdown meta is because of gen speeds. You already have an anti 3 gen mechanic… also just dont 3 gen yourselves?

Every perk is a slowdown perk

  • I don't think beHaviour realizes how many people buy this character just for the scream. A sad day indeed

  • Also, 2 things I noticed: They're not wearing clothes for some reason… and they all have 2 different eye colors

if that's true why did you make her slow down to 110 in chase in your words

    >Skull merchant slows down significantly during this 1 second duration, giving survivors who crouched in time the chance to not lose distance in chase

why should they not lose distance in her chase? she is getting punished more from using her power than legion does

Not quite. The amount of time it costs to crouch for a drone is significant. That means if the killer is anywhere remotely close they will get a hit in chase if the survivor has to crouch. The slowdown simply matches how much time it costs for survivors to run away. However, when a drone is rotating towards a survivor, SM can instantly activate it to hit them, so they might have to crouch even if she doesn't activate it, or she might only activate it later while the laser has slightly passed the survivor, making them crouch twice. It gives her a lot of pressure in chase, especially with good SM's who can make drone rotations and scans less obvious and arrive at unexpected moments.

The slowdown SM gets is comparable to any balanced killer, just like huntress. If huntress didn't lose any distance from pulling up a hatchet at a pallet, survivors would no longer have any counter at the loop, as huntress could still hit them even if they predicted the hatched pull and kept running instead of dropping it. As that perfectly worked for Huntress and made her a well designed killer, so will it work for SM

Proper counter play needs to be built into the killer

terrible as in weak you got rid of her claw trap health state mechanic but you made it so that she gets punished for using her power in chase. not sure why she has so much counterplay imo if you reworked her from her state now to your version it would be a sidegrade

Her getting rid of her terrible 3 stage injure is one of the best things to happen to her. Not only did it make her take incredibly long just to get a single injure, any killer like Legion gets it for free and is still weak.

If you think her insta injure/down with her new ability is weak, then I'd urge you to think again. It is incredibly strong and puts a survivor at risk for a hit for every rotation at every loop the drone is rotating in. It gives her an incredible amount of pressure during chase, so if you'd have a chance to play against it, you'd quickly figure out how strong it is, especially once SM's start using planning their drone rotations in more strategic ways, as do experienced SM's

  • @terumisan said:

she sounds terrible buy there's something i want to know

with white scan are survivors claw trapped regardless or is it still crouch to duck?

Regardless. White scans work on anything. Including when they're working on a generator, until that drone is permanently hacked of course

What in the blue hell you talking topic starter? Its one of weakest killers with current power, if he will be released without changes, 1-2 days and everybody stop play him, his perks weak, his power weak, he even can't camping survivor, when gates opened, he wont do anything, if not in mindbreaker world, he just be bullied at gates, his power needs faster recharge, his walking speed needs 4.6 m/s instead 4.4 anf then, maybe, he will be in middle of tier list killers. '

Need remind, how bad was Nightmare on release, when in real world you was totally powerless, its similar.

He is in high A tier as is the general consensus of the Competitive DBD community, so that is objectively not true

Yep, this is a killer main on the BHVR hamster wheel. I am glad you like the new killer. Now go ahead, and when it comes live, buy it, so when sales are done, you can come back here and complain about how they nerfed him to the ground and feel scammed.

Now do yourself a favor and play survivor for atleast 10 matches in this ptb. The best killers play both roles. Tell me how much fun you're having then and rethink what you just wrote.

I am in fact a survivor main. I have not even played the killer.

It's sad to see this type of close minded mentality

  • @Withered8 said:

Yeah you clearly have not played against this killer as a survivor. It's extremely uninteractive and possibly the most broken killer ever released. It downs people faster than nurse AND has more mobility than nurse lmao.

No, I have in fact exclusively played survivor against the killer

  • @terumisan said:

no? also if a vecna 2 is cheating couldn't he just give himself an uncounterable/unending woirldbreaker?

There are 2 types of cheaters. Obvious cheaters, like you're describing and "subtle cheaters". In case if Venca (2) there'd be no way to tell if a vecna 2 subtle cheater was actually cheating or not

  • @100PercentBPMain said:

what's the question, exactly? sorry, I haven't seen the ptb footage yet; are you saying Vecna is good for sniping through walls? if so, Unknown should be a good cheaters killer but I haven't seen that.

Yes, the sniping through walls, but more like a nurse blink that can damange anywhere. Not limited or reliant on survivors running close to walls like with the unknown. With the question being; is this killer the most perfect killer for wallhackers?

A big statement I always see is that BHVR and dbd would get better and lock in more if there was competition in the genre

Yet when we actually get the competition you guys instantly say the game will die within a year. Yet you guys asked for this and you won’t go fund and support the competition to get BHVR to care again?

Then when that game inevitably dies off you guys complain again that we need competition it’s like a endless cycle

Even if there was a exact copy of dbd beat for beat gameplay no one would play it and say “it will die within a year”

I’m not saying to not have suspicions cause of how gun handled leatherface. But it’s kinda fickle how you guys ask for competition yet won’t go support it?

Dbd and beHaviour isn't doing nearly as bad as people pretend they do. The only real issue is the spaghetti code and not moving from blueprints to c++ code to help prevent random unrelated things from braking when they make changes

The competition in the asymmetrical horror genre all are so much worse

    Opinions?

For me the most powerful opinion is RocketDBD, because you can't deny the influence of Rocket pathing and increase increase. Though his audience is still smaller I'd understand if developers haven't taken note of his peak mind yet

In the off chance this isn’t sarcasm there is a 0% chance that would’ve worked against me. Maybe i should lower my mmr. How many games do I need to lose to get killers like this?

That is the deceptive thing about it. A lot of killer mains originally think the new pallet loops play into their advantage, but they forget 1 very important detail. Due to survivor's hitboxes being smaller than the killer's, survivors can loop around small objects more efficiently. With the shorter loops, this introduced a brand new Powerplay for survivors that actually allows survivors to catch up to killers, even despite being 15% slower on average

    Dbd_Pallet_update.png

You can see it unfolding at 0:11 in the video

Something that both kill streak and escape records have in common is that they shouldn't be possible in a healthy game. More specifically, they shouldn't be possible at the extremes they have reached, as it shows a serious lack of agency in the opposing side in those scenarios. The fact that both can exist at the extremes that they can only serves to dissolve the confidence of players in the integrity of the game, and lead them toward focusing on pre-emptive advantages rather than adaptive gameplay. Its why gen rushing counters tunneling, while tunneling counters gen rushing.

To be honest, the killstreak is a terrible example of strength. Most of these wins are just due to misaligned mmr.

If MomoSeventh had played against people his MMR he wouldn't have had a killstreak above 10

  • I'm one of the invested players and I think the game is pretty decent balance wise. (Though there are ofc weak killers out there, you have plenty strong enough to get results)

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

Plus weren’t people saying DONT rework her cause of so called “dash slop”

  • That's why I only listen to comp dbd opinion. The rest is just skill issue like it or not

  • @PleaseRewind said:

You didn't really go into detail why you think this about Sable. What is about her that makes her such a great character to you?

The sheer amount of personality she provides. All characters have written lore, but for the most part and to most players, it is irrelevant and will never be read. However, characters tell stories. Sable, without needing to read any of her lore, tells an entire story just from shining personality and depth alone. Something you can normally only get from licensed characters. Though of course, licensed characters to an extend cheat a bit. They do truly have all of that depth, either backed up by many movies or someway else

For licensed characters it is easy to be of this quality; if they hadn't been as successful and well designed, they'd never been in the game and we would've never heard about them. However somehow, DBD has managed to design a character of that quality themselves, yet may never realize her true potential

You could say it's a phenomenon of being lucky and scoring a "hit". So, for example does one of beHaviour's partners Super Massive Games have a wide range of games, like Until Dawn, House of Ashes, Men of Medan and Devil In Me, of which some are decent games, but nothing remarkable, yet having Gems among them like Until Dawn and Devil In Me. Although I think Until Dawn has pretty much utilized all of it's genius, it's shorter variant lucky hit Devil In Me has a concept and idea so great that it could've made itself to a world known iconic horror series

Similarly how Bloodborne's athmosphere and general idea and story from FromSoftware could've been a flagship Netflix series if talent had been put into it, outdoing the likes of The Witcher

When you hit gold we could only hope it's utilized. It requires luck, talent or both and one thing is for certain. Sable has the ability to compete with the big leagues as an iconic horror movie character should beHaviour find the right talent to make it happen

I'll preface this by saying that Krasue needs to be nerfed into the god damn ground where she belongs. And I can't believe I'm defending this garbage of a killer… But… She's likely third person because of an art decision. Her head form doesn't have 'hands,' just appendages (her intestines and innards and whatnot). So, you'd need to have something on the screen for the killer in 1st person. You could maybe make her intestines appear on the screen, but her intestines don't change based on skins… and for killers, having different weapons to look at in first person is part of the appeal of buying skins in the first place.

The only thing that changes with her in head form is her actual head. And for players to see that, she needs to be in third person.

I agree wholeheartedly, though, that third person on her is incredibly overpowered.

Agreed, and the 3rd person ruins the fun.

I think they really missed out not making a mori for her default skin, bc that's where killers actually see their entire skin. Just having her as 1st person and giving her a moral without head-form would probably be more than enough for people to feel satisfied with the killer. As someone who spent 500$ on dbd it's the mori + skins mainly that makes you wanna buy one

  • And she should not be third person at all. 3d person killers ruin half the fun when it comes to mindgames. The fact that survivors have 3rd person and the killer has 1st person creates so much dynamic gameplay. For chucky I understand why they needed to do it, but for Krasue it didn't make any sense

  • @Emeal said:

I don't count this perk as healthy, in fact its pretty bloody annoying to get flashlight blinded at every pallet I break.
Also how this absolute annoying perk removes the use of all my Aura reading for 30 seconds an absurd amount of time in a 1v4.

As long as the use gap on Flashlights use is so diffrent in MMR groups, this perk is severely hard to balance.
And I dont want to play another match of having all my perks disabled because 1 person brought 1 perk, such global control over Aura perks should come at the cost of more survivor perk slots than 1, that lasts for 30 bloody seconds.

Getting blinded at every pallet break will be less worse with this perk. People who play flashlights will typically just have this and thus won't have battery addons. With how much BP people are getting you can already bring a flashlight every match

  • @Langweilig said:

They should also allow you to get a random flashlight from a chest instead of a yellow one.

Definitely would make it a lot more fun and exciting opening a chest with Residual

  • Yes daddy, let's make it happen ✨

Hope the devs see these recommendations

  • @UndeddJester said:

It is an interesting idea that gives Champion of Light and Inner Focus a bit more utility.

Does have a bit of a weird trade off though where you have to somehow find a scenario where you can erase the scratch marks without the killer seeing the flashlight beam doing it... the timing seems so tight that the only way I could imagine it working halfway reliably at all is with maximum duration effects on a pallet blind and hoping your teammate can break LoS. Then ofc there are blood pools that still won't allow the Survivor to get away...

An alternative option tahts a little.more universal mechanic, it could be made part of the blind effects list, where being unable to see scratch marks lasts for 5s after being blinded or something. Given killers can listen through their headphones almost every time for footsteps or injury noises during the blind splash, this will rarely save the flashlighter themselves. For flashlight saves, this won't prevent blood pools, so it gives them a slightly better niche reason to exist.

Combined my Lightborn proposal to make it so the killer can still be "blinded" (so can proc blind perks) but is immune to the blind splash, blind stun while carrying and blind lunge disable (and ofc new blind scratch mark removal), that would be an interesting set of mechanics to make flashlights a little more viable.

    Cool to think about.

Scratchmarks disappearing when being shined upon with a flashlight definitely isn't a free value mechanic. I think it's a nice tradeoff, especially if you're using it yourself in a chase. You can use it to mind-game but if you fail you'll also have lost distance on the killer. Where as if your "supporting" friend uses it while you're in chase, the options become more vast, with ofc the downside that the other survivor has to get somewhat close to the killer too, also risking being hit or out of position.

    It's definitely very interactive

I really like your design it’s much more creative than what BHVR usually does (taking parts of old killers, mashing them together, and turning them into a new killer). However, there are some things I don’t fully agree with, because they might make her too difficult to play, which could make killer players not enjoy using her.

    • Bouncing off walls up to 2 times I think the drones should serve more as patrolling or scouting tools. Personally, I’d like them to patrol randomly or have certain trigger conditions, similar to Nemesis’ zombies.
    • Path-setting mode (similar to Knight) where you can’t see survivors while placing the path Skull Merchant is just a human; she doesn’t have the fantasy elements that other killers do. Not being able to see survivors during this feels a bit illogical. I think AMBUSH could be more like placing a zip line in an FPS game (similar to Pathfinder’s zip line) something you can set up and it disappears after a set time. This would make her feel more like an assassin or spy, which fits her lore.
    • Scan Mode I think after activating the scan, it shouldn’t just disappear. It could instead temporarily stop working and stay stationary for a short moment, then resume moving. It could be usable again after a cooldown.

Other than that, I’m fine with everything else. Your design is excellent, and I truly wish they would read it.

First of all, I love how much attention you paid to the original posts! That's the passion I love seeing in the community

    Regarding your points:
One of the reason I wanted to make her ability very skillbased was because of the original skull merchant causing problems bc she was considered "too easy to play", as SM's could just put a drone down without much thoughts and all the effort would be on the survivor to avoid it. Considering her previous negative reputation, I thought it would be a good idea to reverse that idea to truly remind ppl that this SM is new. Any passive value that doesn't require involvement from SM herself might garner the same critiques she already had.

As for the pathfinding, it'd be kinda like how you'd plan a route on the radar, but then pathed from a persons view. It would make sense why scratchmarks or players aren't visible imo

For the scanning, I wanted to make sure that as little of it is passive and it'd require the typical type of "lastertagging" and rotation aware knowledge that good skullmerchants have and make it viable. There'd even be other small changes such as making the scan only deal damage after 1-2 seconds of rotating, so you'd have to plan ahead depending on which loop etc
