They lied about 1hr a day being enough, a lie alone makes this undefendable.
You don't know that. You're expeculating.
And even then, no. It doesn't.

I don't know if this is trolling or just sarcasm but if you expect people to pay for the Rift, which is 10 dollars by the way, then you should expect the challenges and timeframe to be reasonable.
Sarcasm.
And you can pay after you make all the progress. They don't say "you pay, you gain everything"

No we're not, but we paid. They are blatantly using cash grab methods, which whatever companies need to make money but this game *isn't free*.
You paid for the rift? I got it as a free update...weird

The argument of "If the devs can't do it, then it's unreasonable" is because they promised it is possible to be achieved by CASUAL PLAYERS. And the devs are at best casual players of their own game.
And how do you know casual players can't do it?
How much play time is required to be a casual? How much playtime until you're no longer a casual? Are you a casual if you play a little everyday? What if you play a lot but only on the weekends? What is a casual?
-
@CrowFoxy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/802252#Comment_802252
They're also arguing about the fact that the rift is ridiculous and impossible to complete. And for like 90% of players I'd say that's true.
But I wasn't making a point against that, was I?
If you say potatoes are fruit and tomatoes are red, I don't need to address the tomatoes to correct you on the potato part.
And let's not use big percentages to make our points look better. You have no idea what the percentage is and there's no need to pretend you do.
It's also not impossible to beat, you don't even need to complete any challenges, you can do it with just playtime (considering you have the time), the challenges just speed it up.
Is it hard to complete? Yes.
But you're not entitled to complete it.

You really bring in Dark Souls? A game that is hard, sure, but it's never unfair. Aaaaand the devs from From Software surely can beat the game, so do their testers, because they make sure anything they ask is possible. DOH!
Yes. Because if the argument is stupid for dark souls, its also stupid for dbd.
So the devs of dark souls, all of them, can and have beaten dark souls without dying and lighting bonfires? Really?
@CrowFoxy said:

Nice strawman argument, you're completely missing the point.
That's called using your argument against yourself, not a strawman. But good try.
If the argument is " the devs can't do it, so it's bad", then unless the devs of every game can 100% their game, that part they can't do, is bad.
-

If they can't complete 70 tiers of the rift, why should they expect other casuals to be able to?
Just because devs work on the game and we don't doesn't mean casuals don't have jobs they need to work at as well.
The amount of time required to complete the rift even if you have all the challenges done borderlines on at least 2 and a half hours a day, and that's assuming queue times and matches are good. Without all of the challenges, you're looking at full-time job levels of time required every day.
Well, most people also can't beat dark souls without using a bonfire and/or dying. Guess that means the game is bad since you get an item from doing each of those right?

There is always one guy who puts it into the extreme. Come on, don't fool yourself. Noone was talking about this insane stuff.
Well the argument was if the devs can't do it, then it's bad.
That's just the logical extreme

I don't see why it matters if the devs can or can't finish it...

Does it matter?
Still can get her for free, which was the point
-
It's ok bud, just let it all out
-
Only a few are a problem really.
Dark sense - depending on the meaning of it's description
Last minute hero - how many saves have you gotten in total during the egc? Because 1 is ok, 2 is really rare, 3 in the same game is once in a blue moon while saturn is alligned with pluto.

I can kind of see their point though, you want something for the casuals but also something for the hardcore players. I dont consider myself a hardcore player but i dont mind some content thats essentially exclusive for hardcore players.
For all the people that consider themselves hardcore would you consider the challenge of sacrificing all 4 in the basement in 1 match good?
Not hardcore. At least wouldn't call myself that.
But it's not bad.
Iron grip +agitation means you will probably get them to the basement. Then it's just a matter of people not DC'ing
@Noobsaibot5768 said:
I saw the dude who posted the tier 4 challenges for the archives, how are you supposed to do this short of not having a job or living a normal life?
Getting lucky.
Seriously, some of these are so rng it's ridiculous.
Even with swf it would be hard.
But that applies for both casuals and "hardcores", ont just has more time to try than the other.
But you don't need to complete the challenges, they are optional

So litterly joining the match to open chests and then killing themselves basically removing a player from your match making it a 3v1 is not altering my gameplay experience in any way apparently? Neither is two megs chasing crows around the entire game basically removing 2 survivors by the start of the game not altering my experience? Aight I get how it is mate
Altering gameplay experience... wow... so vague... excelent for covering your tracks. Not like it applies to absolutely every single player interaction in the game...no sir...
And no, if someone isn't actively trying to ruin your game, it isn't griefing.
Sure, someone suiciding on hook makes your game harder, but that's just being an ass. Not griefing.
-
@BottledWater said:

So hook rushing forcing the Killer to stay nearby which can easily get you killed, getting farmed and dying because he didn't have borrowed time, getting no gens done because there is a ######### meg running around the map with her butt buddy chasing crows, getting no gens done because the claudette wants to open all 5 chests afterwards she kills herself is not considered griefing in any way shape or form for you?
No.
Griefing, would be someone purposefully, bringing the killer to you, blocking your way, missing skill checks in the gen you're on, unhooking you so you get downed again, etc. When someone is trying to make your gaming experience worse.
Everything else is just normal play. Bad plays aren't griefing.
And the challenge requires safe unhooks, so it's not getting people to unhook you unsafely, it's just bad plays.

I don't think Dark Sense one will be that hard. After all it's asking you to complete 4 generators rather than repair the equivalent of 4 generators.
Still doesn't make it any less luck orientated though.
It says completely repair 4 gens.
Which to me means you gotta be there from 0% to 100%

It'd still require you to not win too fast or too hard, plus having to rely that survivors won't just slam the DC because they got downed once.
Also, you'd not wanna run Remember Me since the EGC needs to be ACTIVE. Aka, a gate opened.
You know you can open the door as the killer right?

Daily's have never forced you to use different perks if anything they wanted you to use Mori's and if you haven't allready noticed the insane amounts of survivors rushing for unhooks or only doing chests then Killing themselves or the survivors that just walk around the outskirts of the map trying to scare crows then consider yourself lucky because that is what I mean with griefing
You have a weird definition on griefing...

Last Minute Hero and Catch 4 Survivors in Bear Traps one are going to be the most obnoxious ones I reckon.
Honestly, i got the achievement for catching all survivors in bear traps without trying. Don't think it will be that hard.
Specially compared to dark senses and last minute hero
-
There's a better image
There you go. All the challenges in 1 image.
Honestly... very few are this bad.
Some are hard and will probably require a few tries. But still doable

Forcing you to use perks you do not want to use and even forcing you to grief your own team doesn't seem like proper gameplay
The first part is basically what a daily already does.
And what challenge forces you to grief?

I mean he is right tho the missions encourage you to go out of your way to complete them, they either want you to run noed or encourage you to use a mori or they encourage you to go off into the sunset chasing crows. Yes you can use Devour or Micheals tombstone add ons but those 2 are extremely situational and will only work sometimes and you still went out of your way to do something you either don't feel comfortable with or that you are familiar with
Yeah. That's the nature of the challenges. Do different stuff. Try new things.

Elaborate some more my man, why do you like it? I kinda wanna know because I don't really see the appeal in this years event
The theme in the main menu is great. The layout aswell.
Everyone can do the event action easily(fix the gen/hook survivor). And since it works for everyone, there's no "I do it" mentality.
This year skins are awesome.
Getting some serum for free skins is easy. Sure, getting everything is hard, but that's fine. You can still get some free stuff without having to play all the time.
I also like the not over the top halloween look on the maps. Very simple stuff. Works better imo.

Yeah, sure doing Michael achievement is even harder, and devour is an hex. (Also this stuff is blocked behind a pay-wall, so ebonys is the only way anyone can do it)
Wrong, you can get hag with shards. No paywall.
And I did say it was easier with the ebony. ;)

At this point they are legit trolling us. They do not listen to feedbacks, they balance game around yellow ranks, yet they designed Rift around super hardcore players, people complain about noed (wrongfully) and ebonys (rightfully), and they put challenges for both.
You don't need an ebony.
Michael has his addons, and every killer can use devour hope.(still easier with ebony, but not necessary)

Are you aware that people actually don’t have 68 days for the pass since each tome is time locked? The fourth won’t be available until the end.
You get rift fragments for every 800xp.
Where do you think those are going?

The later challenges are next to impossible, to prevent earning bonus Rift shards & encourage buying Rift skips.
Lore is locked behind challenges, so if you're like me: Enjoys lore, is a casual player, then you're hosed.
The challenges were clearly made with no thought as to the playerbase; they either require your team or the OTHER SIDE to carry you, and most can be completely screwed over if one person ragequits.
And those challenges all say 'Must be done IN ONE MATCH'. So enjoy trying, and trying, and trying, and trying, and trying, and trying, and trying until you get sick, give up, and decide to buy a Rift skip to get whatever rewards you want.
Or grind nonstop for a small amount of EXP to earn 1 shard at a time.
Nah... you can get the lore
Just ignore the survivor side... that's where the BS is.

Agitated Advantage: You will probably be running Iron Grip as well. The second Survivors realize this, they will Suicide on the hook or DC. Plus, if just TWO people are not rescued, by sheer bad luck, you failed to complete this challenge for that round.
Brutal Breaker: Given the Genrush meta, you will NOT break 8 pallets (I've counted how many I break. It's usually 4-5.) And kicking gens? Maybe, if you're insanely lucky..which is not skill. It's luck.
Manifest Distress: Chase someone for 3 minutes with Distressing perk. Probably the easiest of the Challenges, provided you have Distressing on a Killer good at chasing. But since the genrush meta caps games at 5 minutes..Welp, you really gotta find someone FAST and never lose them. ..Oh yeah, and have a stopwatch handy.
Mechanical Observation: This requires Survivors to 'help out'. They have to keep trying to repair that same genny. This rarely happens. Either a gen is so low on progress that they just abandon it, it's in a bad spot (and thus abandoned), or it's so close to being done that you can't get back to it. Because you HAVE to move away before a Survivor will repair it.
One For Each: I already mentioned this one. Trapper is stupidly weak right now. There's too many perks that point out his traps, and if someone has a map, you will NEVER catch anyone in a beartrap again that match. Even before the RMT-Pass, a good/lucky Trapper got MAYBE 4 traps a match, and they could be on the same person/people, instead of 1 of each.
Six Feet Under: I also talked about this. The second Survivors realize what you're doing, they will DC.
Hold The Door: I don't get the wording. Does it mean every survivor still alive? Or do all 4 Survivors have to escape & you be last? What happens if 2 Survivors both want this challenge at the same time? What if you're the only Survivor alive?
And loads more impossible Survivor challenges.
The whole thing is a bad joke meant to roadblock players & inflate the Rift grind so that people will get sick of it and buy skips.
And, of course, the lore is locked behind it, so lore fans like me are just boned.
- i don't know where you play that people dc because of agitation.
This is still simple. Even if it takes a couple matches
-given I play currently. I DO kick 8 things every match. Don't pretend this one is hard...it isn't.
-you seriously trying to pretend that pursuing people for 3 minutes during a match is hard? There's dailies for this, and no one complains. because it's easy to do. You don't even have to try.
- often enough survivors just don't give up on a gen. Or tap it to stop the regression all the time.
You might need to try a few times, but it's certainly doable.
- now you're just admitting you don't know trapper. It's absolutely possible to hit all survivors with a trap in the same match, there's an achievement for it. People have that achievement. No reason they wouldn't be able to do that again.
-or they won't.
-i think everyone needs to survive.
-

Nah, they don't. You're 100% right in that regard... but... it's literally Halloween, a time to be festive for the spooky year, why play the game hyper serious when it's literally a time to have fun?
Again, they don't have to at all... it would just be nice.
Some people have fun when they play super seriously.
And other people might think that if someone dcs, they should just end the game fast so everyone can go to the next match. So they play seriously
-
But...it isn't
You can get there without doing the bs challenges.
Also, I disagree. Most are fine. Only a few are borderline impossible.
-
Or at least move them out of the way of some cosmetics.
Depending on what you wear, 1 or 2 are basically invisible
-
Killer doesn't have to not play seriously anymore just because someone DC'd.
Or 2, or 3 people DC'd

This is how I would personally break down these challenges.
Doable:
This is happening- get 6 great skill checks in a match with using perk "this is not happening"
Plunder King- loot 4 chests using plunderer's instinct.
Fight Back- stun the killer with pallets 4 times
Hold the Door- Escape last
Brutal Breaker- damage generator or break pallets 8 times with brutal strength.
Manifest Distress- chase survivors for 180 seconds with distressing
Mechanical Obsession- damage the same generator 4 times
Hungry Jaws- catch a survivor in bear traps 5 times
Hard But Doable:
Decisive Light- Blind the killer while they are carrying a survivor 2 times
Agitated Advantage- hook 5 survivors in basement using Agitation.
One For Each- catch 4 different survivors in bear traps
6ft Under- sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement
Require Cooperative SWF:
Dark Senses- completely repair 4 generators using perk dark sense.
Almost Impossible / Requires cooperative SWF AND Killer:
Last Minute Hero- safely unhook 3 survivors after the EGC has started.
No One Escapes The Endgame- Sacrifice 3 survivors during the EGC using NOED
I would also like to call out a few of these as being particularly toxic. "6ft under" practically requires both potato/overly altruistic survivors and basement camping. "Decisive Light" is one of those challenges that is going to move survivors into de-ranking as it will be almost impossible vs high rank killers. So it will lead to toxic behavior de-ranking and toxic games for lower rank killers. The challenges based around EGC should just be deleted frankly.
Allow me to disagree on the noed one.
I would move it to hard but doable. Get an endgame build going, at egc, down someone (oh no, noed), open the gate yourself and hook the guy. Bloodwarden activates.
It's hard, but possible

So because you only care about the lore it's ok that they are roadblocking people that want to finish the rift? Isn't the final reward a charm or something you can't get otherwise? I care about that a lot more than lore and I'm sure that's gonna be the vast majority of players. I'm gonna spend a dollar rather than try and do 4 gens, because it's a stupid challenge and my time is valuable, but i for once agree that this is a bs money grab and some of these need to be rethought.
You don't need to complete all the challenges to unlock the rift. Every 800xp gets you another fragment.
I don't know how many you would need, but I think I can safely say that you will probably get what you need while getting to the lore.
There's a total of 15 challenges there, but only 3 are pretty bs, and it's possible to get the rest while ignoring them... so... let's highball and say you can only complete 7 challenges there.
8 challenges mean 40 fragments, or 32,000 exp.
That's like...25 lvls or something like that? Not sure... what I know, is that I got over 100 in less time than the rift will last.
And I never said I only cared about the lore, I said that if you do, you can get around the bs challenges.
-
The next ones will probably be billy or wraith. Maybe nurse.
Gotta gove the ogs some love

You need to do those other challenges to get to the lore challenges, though. So good luck.
But not the bs ones
You can get the lore just fine like this (still pretty hard on some of these, but not 4 gens by yourself hard)
