maybe you only pay attention when it bothers you…

I would hardly say it bothers me, it’s just an observation. I win, people don’t say it. I lose, suddenly it’s a “gg wp” scenario. 🤷‍♂️

    idk

that's all the proof I need that people are not being forthcoming about their intentions here.

it seems like it bothers you… enough to judge everyone saying it.

What I mean is the quality of the game was irrelevant as I explained one sentence later when I mentioned the "bad game" substitute.

I see what you meant now. my bad.

This is what I'm trying to say. You let people go, play nice, nothing.

BUT if you get stomped, tbagged, bullied the whole game, then SUDDENLY you get a GG.

I can actually attest to this from last night. I had a game where I had everyone in the game on death hook, at 4 freaking gens, let them all go, and nothing…

Like this is what I'm trying to say, like how is it that you only get a GG when you play horribly?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3742451#Comment_3742451

You're literally comparing a real life sport to an online video game. How about you get out of here with this crap smh. This is not the same in any way shape or form, unless like the other person said, It's comp.

dbd isn't real people. you heard it here first.

it's all made up and doesn't exist therefore you can be a baby and cry when someone offers a handshake

  • and while I'm not sure why, I thought I'd address it

seems kinda hard to address it when you don't know why, don't you think?

  • @alpha5 said:

gg used to be an acknowledgement of defeat and a sign of respect. It didn't literally mean good game. Only sore losers took it that way and would type bg instead or not type at all. Losers would naturally type it first because the game was still running. Two things were considered bad mannered in that regard: not typing it when you lost and typing it when you had a clear advantage.

In a game with only post-game chat that is not as clear-cut anymore. Still I don't gg first when I win because it feels like gloating which I see quite a few people doing. It is easy to show good sportsmanship if you win.

no it didn't. it was always short for good game. what are you even on?

    @Mortecaii said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3742188#Comment_3742188

Well, as I said, It's only "respectful" when the loser said it first, otherwise, it just feels like passive aggressive gloating.

try not seeing it as anything beyond someone saying good game. it's the same as offering a hand shake after a game. just good sportmanship.

    @OnryosTapeRentals said:

If "GG WP" isn't intended as a taunt then why do I ONLY ever see it when I lose? And lose hard at that.

Noone ever says this in a match I win, and that's all the proof I need that people are not being forthcoming about their intentions here.

do YOU say it? ever? maybe you only pay attention when it bothers you…

    @Seraphor said:

Not accepting a GG is the sign of a sore loser.

If you can't accept defeat gracefully then you're going to suffer a positive feedback loop of negativity, and everything will look like poor sportsmanship.

When 90% of the time it's silence and the majority of those 10% comes only after a hard loss it indicates a definite trend.

it does not. 90% of the time people left the lobby before you even finished the match.

    @burt0r said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3742427#Comment_3742427

Well, if you don't want to address anyone bette use the indirect "one/someone" instead of the easily misunderstood "you". (Something I am also guilty of.)

Also please talk don't about millennium as if we would know what the custom standard was beyond the last 100 years in general and 30-50 years for gaming. It comes across as strange.

Also, also from my pov it comes across as unempathetic to not take into consideration the feeling of your opponent. I would bet you money that for example the Brazilian soccer players that lost 7:1 a few years ago didn't want to hear ANYTHING from the Germans that stomped them.

Getting beaten hard is frustrating and nothing ones opponent says will help with that, except if that opponent is a close friend or something. Especially int he moment immediately after the defeat.

So taking your opponents feeling into account is more important to me than to give the image of sportsmanship and "force" it on others.

And lastly this whole thread is about one-sided stomps and toxic matches which op specified in their third paragraph.

Not close matches that could go either way. Those are fun and GG's from either side are valid.

as a brazillian, I can tell you the coaches respectfully shook hands IMMEDIATLY after the match ended. and players were seems shaking hands, hugging and all that

    here…

    imagem_2024-06-17_115208810.png imagem_2024-06-17_115324730.png

YOU have an issue with losing. doesn't mean everyone does.

Everyone here was crushed when that happened. the players still accepted the hand shakes and hugs because they know that when someone does that, they aren't just being an #########.

  • you don't. but if you want to, go for it. never really liked it, don't think it's really worth the slot currently.

sure, there are c-suite execs w/ 100k+ salaries. There are people involved in necessary positions that are not c-suite but are critical to operations who are in the lower 100k range. You want to attract good talent then you be competitive in your offers to these people with years of experience and knowledge. I'm certainly not gonna chastise someone who has spent years proving their worth either.

really hope your idea is not to ask the c-suite to take cuts in the name of cutting costs, commendable but that's a hard sell and a bandaid anyway. If you can run a leaner operation then why wouldn't you? Circumstances change, need for services/goods declined during covid then when it picked up it did so in unprecedented fashion, it was bound to normalize.

you don't seem like you have much real world experience to see past 'fire ppl, bad!'

"If you can run a leaner operation then why wouldn't you?"

because the people at the top want more money. so the cuts happen bottom up.

this IS the real world. companies usually suck, even if the people immediatly around you in it do not. just because you think you have the perfect utopic company that would never do such a thing, doesn't mean you do.

  • because that is a thing that happens in basically every game with a rank based matchmaking.

    people smurf and people de-rank.

not necessarily maliciously, but those happen aswell.

statisticaly speaking there is probably a streamer or more that do it so they get easier matches and can post some easy content…

but you are correct, the matchmaking is not really reliable at all. so you might aswell just play normally.

no, in addition to letting go of staff where there was bloating, there were other cost cutting actions taken like advising GMs to be more mindful of their staffing levels at stores (why schedule 10 people on a less busy day when most will sit on their phones and there's a manager available who is salaried?); we took a deep look at what services we were paying for and what ultimately could be done away with or sourced elsewhere for less - you'd be surprised how much redundancy might exist in areas that no one is ever taking a look at.

firing people is not the only option but eliminating a 100k salaried individual makes more sense than simply saying let's cut back on some spending guys and see how things shake out…

It's the real world, companies don't care about the people, everyone is expendable from the top to the bottom, this isn't news, but to suggest people are always fired in the name of profits is a silly generalization to make when there are stuff behind the scenes that you'd be none the wiser to. Again, if our lender called the full loan due or a payment of a few hundred thousand to be made - now it's not a few people being let go, now we're probably to go into an even more aggressive cost cutting campaign. Or we scrap our plans to open all of the stores we had in mind this year and all of the jobs that would have came with those stores.

Business is business, your employer does not owe you unconditional employment just cause it's 'not nice' to let you go, circumstances constantly change, adapt or die as a business.

When covid hit and many businesses slowed down, should they have just kept their expenses the same while revenue clearly declined??

so you had people on payroll with 100k salaries?

yea. this confirms there were options. probably some better than what I'm thinking right now.

but firing a bunch of people sure cuts the spending fast huh?

1,300 employees work at BHVR as of 2022, Microsoft just laid off 1,900 employees this year and ten times as many in January last year. We can split hairs over this as much as you want, I'm only calling one of them a large company. BHVR might have grown a bit since then, I doubt it's by a magnitude of 10.

I don't tend to take a Company's side on layoffs either, as someone's livelihood is always going to be at major risk, but to pretend that layoffs don't happen sometimes is fools folley. Given some of these people were hired halfway through 2020, it is possible hiring them was something of a risk in of itself given the global recession. It really does suck that these people lost their jobs, especially given the passion I've seen in most of their leaving comments, but I doubt there was an alternative where BHVR could just say 'nah' and keep them all.

are small and large the only sizes avaiable?

not pretending layoffs don't happen. but you won't catch me going " I don't think this was corporate greed" until I know EVERYTHING about it.

I would be very willing to bet there were alternatives. this is just the decision they took. for reasons yet unknown to me.

and the way it happened, as a surprise to everyone, leaves a terrible impression.

probably compared to larger studios, yeah

why are people so quick to be anti company? it's not like these actions are taken out the blue or without good reason

sometimes it's more complex than we think or can see. The small company I work for recently had to let some ppl go; turned out the reason was because there was a covenant in our loan agreement that required our debt service ratio to be under X amount at specified dates. If we failed to be under then it would have resulted in substantial payments being due to the lender which would have had more of a negative impact on the company than the few layoffs that occurred in some of our stores. Very negative feedback from our local managers and privately they suggested it was typical corporate greed (understandable) but it was more complex than simply saving money where possible

"compared to a helicarrier, a bus is a small vehicle"… would you look at a bus on the street and call it small now? c'mon.

because companies as a group proved time and time again to not care for any individual or even people. it's all about profit and cutting costs.

and your example didn't really help. because you are making it seem like firing people was the only avaiable option when I doubt that to be true.

  • @ArkInk said:

BHVR is a small indie company managing one of the biggest licensing nightmares in the industry alongside trying to grow as a name and brand. It's a shame, but sometimes this is going to happen. I don't think this was corporate greed, unlike Microsoft or Konami and whatnot.

    small? we still pretending that?

also, I will never, ever, take the company side on big layoffs. neither should anyone else.

won´t take a neutral stance either. if the company wants any sympathy, they must come clean on their reasons.

Let's ban that then, no more standing afk.

But then people would just be useless and grief their team instead of trying to play the game.

Okay let's penalize people who haven't touched a gen in X seconds.

Consultants do not need to be content creators. While some are, others are not.

There is no application process. We select and invite people who would be a good fit for the program and fill the needs we have in terms of experience with specific aspects of the game.

If there is no application process how do you actually seek out people who are not content creators in some right? I'd imagine most of the consultants either had to be referred to you by an already existing content creator or someone with knowledge of the program.

that is easy to answer… someone on some social media who they see being the type of person they would like to invite to this. so they do.

but without knowing who is in, we can't know. and they won't give out that information, so no real point in asking.

for all we know it could be "nepotism city", but it can also be perfectly fine and the best it could possibly be.

"Actual official title, over a year. Years unofficial. I also advocate for accessibility through this title."

so this tells me that after years of having someone who is hard of hearing as a consultant, who admits to advocate a lot for accessibility, all that happened is the visual terror radious and absolutely nothing else.

no visual cues for footsteps, generator sounds or any of the sort ever implemented or mentioned to be in the plans.

yeah… people are really overblowing what they have the power to do or affect.

I kind of hope we get both through the use of skins, but I think the default characters will be from the show since they have more to work with lore wise.

As Survivor the frontrunners I could see are Trevor, Simon, Richter, or Alucard depending on the circumstances, but I have a feeling they'll pick between Trevor or Simon for a classic Belmont.

What do you think? It'd be funny if we both the dark edgy show Dracula and the goofy Game version screaming "WHAT IS A MAN?" whenever he gets in chase.

Personally, I just hope a map gets altered in someway to get Castlevania elements. Shattered Square could use an update now that there's just an objectively cooler version of it being added soon (hopefully without any infinites)

Depends on what part of the population you poll.

Like, my dad would probably know Castelvania Dracula; but JoJo and Hellsing are both immensely popular in their own rights with JoJo being immensely influential (and ongoing) and Hellsing certainly being more niche.

Also, yes, Al does just use his guns most of the times. That's why I thought Dio would be a bit better. He's certainly sassy and has enough personality. He's ######### evil enough and he has a wide array of powers.

    just the general population.

and I am this convinced mostly because of the netflix series. that spread far and wide. if it was just the games it would be more even.

I love castlevania since I played dracula X on the snes, but I know it wasn't that well known beyond maybe a "that one with the whip guy?"

jojo is mostly popular in anime circles, don't think it spread much beyond it. besides memes, memes are universal.

which is also a place where castlevania is popular.

kinda wish dio was a killer. I can already imagine him posing on the survivors as he moris them.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3725423#Comment_3725423

I still think Alucard or Dio would've been better vampire reps just do to their power level. Castelvania Dracula is actually insane.

I think they could've gotten Dio right, but there's not really a good way to translate this into DBD.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ZLLWY6RAJZ11/animesher-com-the-valentine-brothers-dogs-hellsing-1240393.gif

castlevania Dracula is more common knowledge than Dio or Alucard. there was never a chance it was anything but him or an original interpretation of Dracula. even the Béla Lugosi version would be more for the look than the actual character.

but Dio or Alucard would have been awesome additions. Dio has ice powers, laser eyes that are actually blood, camp as all hell… just amazing.

and yeah… no idea how to translate Alucard into dbd. even ignoring that his main form of attack are 2 rifle-sized pistols that quite literaly blow people up

I think that I'd maybe like more original chapters than we're getting this year, but overall we get a good ratio of license to original.

I'm a lot more strict with my take on WHAT licenses we get. I don't think this DnD chapter belongs whatsoever, I don't think Wesker should be here either, and I don't exactly trust Dracula to be a good, horrific interpretation of a vampire. They just aren't horror characters, Vecna is spooky at best. These three really seem to conflate Intimidating and Scary, which is wrong—and let's be real, Wesker only got in because he snuck in behind Nemesis.

so you never played a horror campaign? you should, it's cool.

was never a fan of wesker either, specially because we already had nemesis. at least I like his camp

depends on which dracula. the thing with castlevania is that they go from camp comedy to serious all the time. there are more scary incarnations of him. but the monster who gave their humanity away and keeps coming back to life to try and destroy humanity is absolutely a horror character.

also, a series that produces such dumb but awesome lines such as these

i think it would not work great throu skins since then you would have dwight turn into trapper or yui turn into nurse and you would have the same killer story but with another name on it.

but if we make them there own alternate universe characters instead of the nurse we could have sally smithson a woman that survived working in the gruesome crotus prenn asylum instead of being broken by it. she could bring perks centered around healing and managing the mental damage survivors get from being hunted in the trails.

its just cool when they work with there existing characters developing the dbd universe and those what if twists can be very cool

I don't think you got me. a rin skin isn't going to yui or feng or meg. it goes to spirit.

as in, the character themselves get their alternate universe selves as a skin. in the case of spirit the rin skin would need to not have the detacheable limbs and stuff, and maybe full new animations for the sword.

someone like plague would be easier…

you can have an entire paragraph or 3 of lore in the skin to explain what changed. and even have some of the generic perks be now credited to the survivor/killer version of the character.

you can even say the fact that 2 versions of the same character existing in the entity realm at the same time is the reason one of them doesn't exist anymore. because they interacted with each other. so now the entity avoids picking the same person.

They made the Rift very easy to complete. I dont think it is possible to not complete the Rift at this point, except if you are VERY inactive and almost not playing at all. They even made it easier recently with Rift Fragments added after 500 XPs. So people who play the game active might have already finished it or are close to being finished.

E.g. I am now at Tier 74 or something like that. And this is the usual case for me, I complete the Rift either shortly before or during Tome Level 3. So everything which comes with Rift Fragments (Login Bonusses, Double Rift Fragments, Challenges) becomes useless for those players. And you dont even have to grind for it, you just have to like the game and play it for a 2 or 3 hours a day. And it always feels a bit like being left out.

It is basically the second point. Just a few BPs in the free track and a few Iri Shards in the paid track would do the trick. This should 100% be a thing and I am surprised they did not add this with their latest changes which made the Rift even faster and easier to complete.

And you dont even have to grind for it, you just have to like the game and play it for a 2 or 3 hours a day.

you don't have to grind, just gotta grind.

I think you have a very narrow view of what a grind is… you don't need to spend 10 hours in a row for it to be a grind.

    as for the topic.

1- how do you know how many people finished the rift? for all we know, 10% of players won't benefit from it, so it benefits 90% of the game population

2- yes. I'm pretty sure everyone would agree to that.

  • they did not fix it, just said it was fixed but it was still possible. you mandela effected it.

Well I've seen a lot of people call Huntress one of the most balanced killers in the game so I don't think it's impossible to find a fine balance for 110% killers as well.

until she got buffed and people went nuts! XD

    it's certainly doable. just harder.

killer is slower, so the power needs to be better to compensate.

bhvr is used to making 115 killers, so deviating from it is always a bit harder.

  • as a trapper main. NO.

he does not need it, I don't want it.

just give him a bunch of grass everywhere on the map when he is the killer. and a thor like pull on his traps so he doesn't need to travel all the way to them all the time.

and he'll be perfectly fine. (would still like the traps to be time based instead of rng based but I can deal)

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 121
