  • MMR was disabled shortly after release because it was not working correctly (what a shock). It kept matching new players with veteran players even after a few days so they reverted it back to the old matchmaking algorithm based on ranks.

As it stands if you were to buy the base game not on sale and buy every DLC, it would cost ~$100. Everything is currently on sale right now for 50% off, making it $50, which is slightly less than full price for a new game that has come out. After that, new DLC comes out every 3 months, usually for around $7-10. If you can't afford to buy a full price game, and then pay $3 a month (DLC every 3 months) then you probably need to get your priorities straight.

It's not that people can't afford the price, it's about the quality of the content that for the most part, makes it not worth the money, and cheap tactics like locking lore behind a paywall doesn't help at all.

If there's no update soon, I'll lose all hope in this game. I get the map several times in a row. They're really trying to shove this pos down our throats.

i think they said at some point that when a map is released it will have a slightly higher chance of being selected so for the first week or two expect to get this map a lot

If this is the case, the reporting system is absolutely broken, and the burden is on Behaviour to improve it. If you have to fill out a form in triplicate every time an incident happens, ain't no hackers getting dealt with in this game. Nobody is going to do a bunch of work to report someone.

Yeah, that is the way they designed the support feature. On a side note i can understand why they choose this approach. Think about how many players are submitting tickets for camping/tunneling/teabagging etc and saving data to replay each match would require a huge amount of storage, and that's not cheap. So from a business point of view their approach is cost-efficient, not to mention how much time might be wasted to watch legit matches, just because someone didn't accept that he/she lost.

As a consumer it's not a good system, at all, and they should find a middle ground between your idea and their current implementation.

This is the way I assume it works, because this is how a functional, actionable reporting system would work in any normal game.

    1) Someone is doing something report-worthy. Maybe they're hacking or exploiting, maybe they held the game hostage, maybe they said something really racist in chat, or whatever.

    2) At the end of the game, I click the thumbs down, select the category, type an explanation into the chat box, and send it off.

    3) The report tool sends the following information to Behaviour's customer service:

    • The category/text of my complaint.
    • The entire chat log for the match, both lobby and post-game.
    • Steam64 IDs / gamer tags for every player in the match.
    • A data log that includes whatever instructions Behaviour needs to load into their internal replay viewer and watch the match from all POVs as it unfolded.

    4) Behaviour takes appropriate action based on this information.

If this isn't what's happening, then the report system is broken and not functional. If you are expecting a player to record video and go figure out everyone's Steam64 IDs -- I'm guessing most players rarely if ever do the former and don't know how to do the latter -- then we have a report system that isn't punishing people appropriately.

You are right to assume that the in-game support feature should provide all data to the CS team (even replay data), but that's not how it's implemented. That is a big difference. From your assumption 3.1 and 3.2 are correct, 3.3 is debatable, 3.4 is not logged by BHVR.

Apart from harassment offenses (which have to come through the in-game chat) you need to submit proof in forms of either screenshots or video using the support feature from their website, AFTER you submitted an in-game report. For submitting a support ticket you need to provide the Steam ID64 of the offender, and if they indeed removed the possibility of checking the steam profile of other users (i haven't played a match yet) then, hackers or griefers are free to troll since you cant submit any proof now.

  • @tippy2k2 i think they are also editing the shrine when they release tome challenges which require specific perks.

  • Sorry, you're right. What i meant was unbreakable😅

  • The devs could remove the perk from the HUD if it gets cleansed since you can't use it anymore. Show noed until all totems are gone or the lit totem is cleansed, and for haunted grounds keep the current animation and after it's done, remove it from the HUD. This way we could have a better understanding on what happened to devour.

Also this could be extended to single use perks like corrupt, unbreakable, DS etc.

What the hell is your problem? You are like a tiny annoying bug.

U know what is a "glitch" aswell? Combos in fighting games. Yes, exactly. They weren't intentionally in the fighting games back then. And look now: they are established techs now.

I wouldn't compare fighting games with dbd. For one, even if combos were glitches at the very beginning, later on were designed to be techs in a way it doesn't feel odd. Now the techs in dbd are plain glitches that shouldn't exist or be in the game for as long as they were. Tell me how is it normal for a character to phase through another character? This is plain stupid and shouldn't be brought back, not to mention if the survivor knows how to do it it make it impossible for the killer to defend hooks, which again shouldn't be possible.

It was the 4TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY.

    Not a Killer Reveal Stream.

    They should've known better.

I was honestly there because I was excited to see what other stuff they have to announce other than the Killer, like the Graphical Overhaul and Crossplay.

Most were there for the killer reveal, myself included. I for one hoped they would show a trailer video at the start so we know who is comming to dbd and show the perks and power at the end, but they didn't reveal it until the end. Also when you hype the stream with the killer reveal more than with their anniversary, then expect people to not care about the rest.

    @MongolPSR said:

im not defending the people in chat but I will say this. by in large most people watched the stream to see what the next year roadmap would be like and who the new licensed killer would be. The devs know this and they purposely put the killer reveal at the end so that they could make sure they had an audience at all for the mobile section and the fog whisperers section, and guess what it worked. they had thousands of people see and hear the stuff that they really didn't care about but the devs wanted us to know about. I do not care at all for dbdmobile, I just don't have a phone capable of running it. However because of that stream and them making me wait for the killer I do have in the back of my head now if I get a better phone that dbd mobile is not a half bad deal. Im sure the devs knew this would be the reaction and are mature enough to not let it hurt their feelings. They also sure as hell don't need others defending them in a sort of weird white knight post because again they are grown adults and are absolutely equipped to handle it.

As number goes then yeah, they achieved the goal of having a lot of people on the stream, but i wonder how many payed attention to it. I muted the stream and once in a while i checked the second monitor to see if they started to show the new content.

  • It's called "aim dressing", and no, they won't make it optional or remove it because they are too proud of their garbage mechanics or features to remove them.

On a serious note, they claim the assist is just a visual aid to make the animation look better and if you missed the shot, then it was your fault as the game registered it as a miss. Also it might be a bug with the hitboxes used to determine hit detection and assist as there are 2 separate hitboxes.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

I mean put yourself in their shoes, the devs are doing their best coming up with maps, reworks, forums etc.

As a company employee here I will tell you something that may sound rude but it is true, money talks more than people, they need resources to make things better, and there are AAA game titles that are even worse so cut the dbd devs some slack, example of a worse game, just look at cod adv warfare, game is filled with bugs, glitches, game breaking bugs, poorly optimized patches that are over 20gb each monthly.

Some people can't be patient, just let the devs do their job in a steady pace, if you were hired by the company that I work, you would be fired for trying to rush people.

The dbd devs are a small group of people, every patch they fix stuff not just bring a cosmetic and they are done.

Geez, gamers just let them breathe

If these devs worked for the company i work for they would have problems keeping their job for more than 2 months, judging by the plethora of bugs they introduce with each patch and the fact they fail to maintain a clean code.

4 years out on the market, a lot of income sources for this game and still a mess. They had enough time, and the flame they get is deserved (all except the art team which are doing their job)

  • Well if the gens are done there is no reason to leave the hook because you know that the only objective left for the survivors is to rescue the unlucky one who got hooked. At that point you have to open the gate and organize a rescue and all should be ready to tank hits. If you are playing solo like me it's best to just leave at that point. If a bad killer manages to secure 3 kills during endgame by camping a survivor then it's the teams fault for not having a good rescue plan or for being too greedy with getting 4 escapes.

  • @Salty_Huntress i know but i was away for a few months. Shouldn't it take me down one color group for each rank reset that occurred? leaving me to grey/yellow ranks down from green/purple? or from now on even if i leave the game for a year it will still take me down only one color group?

  • @MandyTalk do you know if there is a bug with rank reset that if i didn't log in more than 2 months (so 2 rank resets happened) i get a reset for only one month. I didn't play since January and when i logged in yesterday i was prompted with the reset screen but it took me down only one rank. (8->9 survivor and 12->13 killer).

  • @Penfighter said:

I am a killer main. Yup. Account level will soon be 100 and I am thoroughly enjoying myself with most of the selection I have at my disposal. I win when I play well and lose when I don't apply enough pressure, which tells me there is at least a decent amount of balance, overall. I made it to rank 6, have tried most of the killers, and am now addicted.

Diving deeper into the community, I became aware of Face Camping and other such troll-ish killer actions. Knowing that we killers lose a fair amount of blood points and rank potential from doing things like hanging around hooks, I figured this was a small issue that only trolls perpetuated.

    I was so wrong.

These last two weekends, I've ventured into the world of survivor and, oh man, I had no idea it was this bad. Doing the math, exactly 70% of the killers my friends and I have come across in our last 20 matches literally facecamp hooks every time they get someone (we've been counting). This is on xbox, just as an FYI.

Look, its a video game and I get that you can play however you'd like at the end of the day. Its just difficult for me to believe that anyone would want to play this way. My friends and I get away almost every time, either all 4 of us or everyone but the one on the hook, so we know you aren't getting a lot of blood points. Furthermore, it takes the fun out of it. It's both simultaneously boring for the one on the hook and easy for the rest of the survivors who just spread out, knock out the genny's, and activate the exits.

The entire fabric of this game is woven around the chase mechanic. It's fun, challenging at times, and is how the players interact in Dead By Daylight. It's a nice reprieve from just shooting at people at all day in every other online game. Face-camping removes that from the game. And for what? I am asking this seriously, what are you gaining?

As I mentioned before, I am a killer main. This really doesn't effect my personal day to day. And for my few survivor matches, well, I breezed through the ranks thanks to this tactic. Hence my confusion. It's not like it even works...

Devs themselves stated at some point that they don't have a clear "win" condition for each side, so for some the win is gaining a pip, for others a lot of bloodpoints, other accept only 3/4k. Those killers you faced probably were aiming to make the game as unfun as possible for survivors. Not every killer wants to apply the amount of pressure required to have a chance at winning. I had moments when my only objective was to be as toxic as possible and tilt as many survivors as i can, just because of how awful the previous games were. It's just a vicious cycle.

  • @Fibijean said:

The description is misleading. You don't automatically get Iridescent by getting nine hooks, but you can't get Iridescent unless you get at least nine hooks, even if you 4K.

The Gamepedia wiki has a breakdown of each emblem, mined straight from the game's code. For Devout, you apparently get two points for each sacrifice, kill (mori, RBT, etc.) or disconnection, one point for having hooked all survivors at least once, and one point if you get at least nine hooks. You need all ten available points to get Iridescent.

From the looks of your score, that game was a 2K. You got 4 points for your 2 sacrifices, 1 for getting at least nine hooks, and 1 for hooking everyone once. That adds up to 6 points in total, which is only enough for a Silver emblem.

Here's the link to the appropriate page on the wiki if you want more information: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Emblems#Devout

I don't think you receive points for survivors that DC. I remember that at some point you received those points, but for a long period of time i stopped getting those points. Might be a bug tho.

no we can not, and if you would/could read you would know this.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1174529#Comment_1174529

The information that a survivor suddenly, after 3 unhooks gets one shot is not enough for you I guess. Or that you scream when you unhook someone. Or that you suddenly cant sprint burst away when a killer comes to chase you off a gen.

I mean that is what this thread is about, asking if others like me are annoyed by the patronising/baby handholding the game does for survivors these days, but considering there are plenty players that run the DS/BT/Adren/Exhaustion perk combo I guess I am the odd one in this wanting a game to ask something of me and reward experience/knowledge.

I agree with you that the game gives wayyyy too much info to survivors. As a former player (mostly killer) i found no reason to still play the game as killer role was too stressful and on the other side survivor was just plain dull, giving no fun either way.

You mentioned noed and devour, that they give a notification when they are in play, yes they should notify the survivors that they are in play, but be more subtle: instead of showing the cursed + exposed status effect (not to mention which hex), it should stick to a terrifying scream of the survivor model. You can figure it out yourself why did the model scream.

It doesn't matter whether they are well known or not. He just quit out of a game ruining the game for 4 other people and you're falling over yourself to make up an excuse as to why it is OK for him to do it but not OK for others to do it.

What you fail to understand is that disconnecting in a tantrum is childish behaviour no matter who has done it. No matter how many people are watching or how many people have paid a subscription to them. Don't come on here posting about how amazing he is when he does crap like that.

Like I said I fully expected people to rush here to defend his honour. There is no defence, he missed a hit, cried and disconnected.

I'm not saying it's ok to DC or that i approve his decision to DC. What i said is that i understand why he did it. Also sometimes tantrums like his might draw devs attention and actually do something about those bugs. Sometimes tantrums like this one might be a necessary evil, that might change the speed of bug fixes on killer side. Kind of like devs advertised ruin nerf, they said it is a necessary change to get a real feel of game pace and balance accordingly (well the second part is yet to come). His behaviour is not acceptable, but understandable.

  • @MPUK said:

I'm not judging him as a bad person. I'm saying why is everyone so complimentary of him rage quitting when smaller streamers or people who don't stream would be berated for that behaviour.

"Haha baby killer DC because he missed" etc in post game chat but this guy does it and it becomes a forum post about how the game is broken and needs to be fixed because even someone who is paid to play quits games early.

If he did it over that one missed hit at the start of tier 3, he has done it before and will do it again. Let's face it.

I've had youtubers/streamers who are well known in my games and they have disconnected when the games don't go their way too. They aren't immune to rage quitting and I dont expect them to be but I dont understand their fans fawning over them to tell them it is OK to do it because they have a content channel but anyone else is a sore loser for doing it.

The bugs are just part of it, can't handle it then don't play. Why should 4 other people have their game ruined because someone can't cope with the bugs? When they knew before going in that round that the game has issues. As I said if the issue was favouring him, he would be all for it because it resulted in a miss, I'm quitting and cancelling the game for those 4 people.

What you fail to understand is that this guy you are bashing never did rage quit( or even if he did before it was a very rare), to promote a sportsmanship behaviour to his fans. He might have rage quitted more often when he was not on stream but at least he tried to promote a sportsmanship behaviour( while on stream), but this time he had enough. The difference between unknown streamers or regular players is the uncertainty that they are regular DCers or not. Otz is known to be a streamer that doesn't DC so when he does then you know ######### hit the fan.

Since for the last few patches they completely ignored the feedback from the community, i would expect them to not implement the good ideas, so better to give worse designs in the hopes they come with a good change. But that's just wishful thinking.😁

  • The Silence from doctor who

  • Killer should have either a 5th perk slot or survivors only 3 perk slots. Since killers are unique they could add a dedicated perk slot for killer specific perks where they can choose only the teachable of that character, and enchance the stats of the perk. For example nurses calling, the range goes up to 32 (max is 28) only for nurse if the perk is in the dedicated slot. If it is, you cannot choose to use it in the other 4 slots

  • @LemeTheMeme said:

Why are the devs only commenting on the reason why Static Blast has a cooldown? I think it's quite obvious why it has a cooldown. There have been many issues people have stated with cooldowns related to perks, yet they just get ignored. Some transparency would be nice you know. Why do perks like Surge, Thrilling Tremors, and Blood Echo have cooldowns at all? Thrilling Tremors should be a 20-30 second cooldown at most and the other two don't need one at all. Just make it so Blood Echo doesn't stack on each other, and rather just reset the exhaustion duration. The lack of transparency has been killing this game for me.

    @Almo @Peanits

Because these devs always avoid answering questions on topics / balance decisions they have no valid argument for. They think the perks or killer powers are OP without the cooldown and add a massive one to make it "balanced" but instead they go from a good concept to a ######### product.

  • @TAG said:

Not sure how I feel about suggestion 3, but I feel like you're onto something with #1/2.

Well #3 becomes a problem only when the killer has more than one survivor on the hook because you have to choose who you save first to apply endurance. If this scenario comes into play, it will force the player to think who is the most important survivor i need to keep alive.

Making a save should always require some thought on when it's safe to make the save or when you have multiple survivors hooked, who should be saved first.

BT as it is now makes a lot of survivors not think for a second when it's safe because the endurance gives the false "safe" unhook feeling when it actually makes survivors never learn how to properly make saves. This version might make proper saves even more safe.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

This will just benefit killers being fast hooking survivors or slugging to hook them at the near same time, cause you have no chance to rescue both teammates. Also, youre punished for running BT if someone gets hooked next to you. Again no chance, cause it wont activate. That would just make the perk useless.

Ok, that is true if you are close when the killer hooks you, you might lose the perk for that moment, but then you can rush the unhook. The 32m radious i put was the commont TR for killers, while the camping radious (judged by the emblem system) is 16m so that might make you leave the near area when you see the aura of the downed person. The very reason i added the activation part was to force people to decide whether they want to activate the perk or rush the hook. And right now stealth killer can effectively ignore the perk and my design would work the same against all killers making camping even harder.

No. They just need some slight reworks. And by they, I mean DS. Deactivate it upon working towards the objective or performing Altruistic actions. Done.

    Dead Hard is fine.

Unpopular opinion but Adrenaline is fine.

BT is fine-ish. It's only problematic when someone unhooks in your face before you can even leave. But I have no idea how they can fix that.

    @ZoneDymo said:

They just need to nerf the combination of them tbh, making DS an exhaustion perk would go a long way.

BT, not sure how to limit that a tad.

Lose from that, think about Dead Hard for a moment, why was it added?

Because of David King's other perk, No Mither, ot make sure you are not just one shot, you have dead hard, but everyone just runs it without No Mither so its a perk that is kinda too strong. its original intend make sense, but they way its used now does not.

Imo bt is an issue if the killer hooked someone and there was another surv ready to unhook without giving the killer time to leave. So in this case lets make the perk activatable.

When you are 32 meters further away from the hook BT activates. While the perk is active, rescuing someone from the hook gives the unhooked survivor endurence status for 15/20/25 seconds. Each hook event resets the perk and each unhook made by the user deactivates the perk until the killer hooks someone else.

With this chage if there are multiple people on hooks you have to decide who needs the status more. Also now it won't be tied to TR and will work the same against all killers so stealth/freddy won't make the perk useless when they really camp.

  • Neither. I'd be very happy to see the devs skip one or two chapters to focus on game stability and balance and not rush new content every 3 monts, cause apparenty with every new major patch, there are game breaking bugs so best to improve the code before adding more stuff.

If they really want to throw new content, so far on release original content were always the better than licenced.

  • Killer is too frustrating to play as, and survivor is too boring to be worth the queue time.

Also the poor quality of patches in the last 6-12 months and poor communication from BHVR CM/devs on important issues made quit several times. But now will leave for good because it simply isn't fun to play either side, horror factor is non existant (in a horror labeled game) and the archive/rift are not even generating enough motivation in me to keep playing.

They will prolly add a cool down.. that seems to be their plan on every killer now...r.i.p

seems like it. and one of the first thing i read as a new player a few years ago was that killers share a few common traits but they each have a unique ability. i guess that uniqueness will soon mean different cooldown duration (or number of cooldowns)

  • Since his add-ons are not following the rule it will get changed soon so this might become true.

  • Well think about this then. If you have poor internet connection you should first try and see if you can fix the connection before searching another match. I myself had issues with the connection (faulty cable) and when i realized that i had issues i stopped playing and took care of the problem. That was before the dc penalty. So stop blaming the devs for this and fix your connection before joining another match.

  • I'm a former killer main. Former because i quit the game 2 months ago. I know other killers quit the game so this might become a case where there won't be enough high rank killers but only low ranks rather than a broken matchmaking. For the health of the game lets hope it's the matchmaking that is broken because that could be fixed. Getting players back will be a lot harder and if this situation becomes usual for low rank killers they might quit or switch sides which will still lead to a shortage of killers.

  • Each color represents the charge speed of the person doing the interaction.

    White - normal speed

    Red - slower than normal

    Yellow - faster than normal

The only case where red is faster is when multiple survivors are repairing the same generator. Each survivor has a penalty to repair speed hence the red bar but the total progress is cummulated giving the impression of faster progress with a red bar, but again the red bar is for the person doing the interaction not for the group itself.

  • If the devs gave a date for the event they should try to stick with it. I agree that it's better to delay it that give a crap build. This is not the first time they delay something big and that is the problem, it's ok if you have an issue once, but this year it was a pattern and that is not ok. I really want to have a nice event, good dedicated servers, but the way things went this year it just screams incompetence even if they try their best.

Why so salty? I don't like powerbars, I don't like what they did with Nurse basekit. Why can't I have my own opinion? Why are you trying to force me to play nurse?? I don't want to play the new nurse anymore, therefore I'm using up all the stuff I spent on her. Geeg, take a chill pill aswell. Freaking hell...

I was not pressuring you to play nurse only. I was just telling your reason for not wanting to play her is not a good one in my opinion. I'm not a cop or anything and at the end of the day you can do whatever you want as long as you don't brake any rule. If you want to play nurse only until the build goes live then so be it. I would recommend you try to adapt to nurse in the future because she is not as bad as you think.

I'm currently using up all my insta heals. I had over 300 stored and IMO they aren't worth the value I spent on them after the nerf. Many think the same and using up all the instas. Basically the same like with Nurse rn, I'm currently using up all moris, puddings etc cuz I won't touch her after the nerf anymore.

I hope you don't touch this game anymore with that mentality. A good nurse will still be good even with the new base-kit changes, you still have a blink after fatigue, just not a double right after, and the training wheel add-on is now common so new nurses can practice with her and get better sooner. As for Insta-heals they were mindless to use, now you have killers guessing which one you used, and you can't just deny a down anymore. With that childish mentality you can go, you won't be missed if you never play dbd again.

  • It's a petty to see so many people play by other's rule. I understand that some actions or perks are "toxic" but that goes both ways. I don't play by survivor rules but sometimes i follow them because it's the best strategy for me. If the things are not going my way but i still have time i'll tunnel the unhooked guy to eliminate him to make my game easier.

Bottom line is that killers should play the way they want as long they are following the games rules (defined by BHVR).

  • only I thought that OP wanted gen tapping to go so survivors can't stop regression during chases?

  • I'd say a QOL would be better. Start with no tokens but be able to gain tokens each time you evade the killer. Or since we have already 2 perks that work with gaining tokens in the TR, do it like that, but start at 0 tokens

  • Freddy already has slowdown add-ons when survivors are asleep plus they tend to miss skillchecks so unnerving is pointless. Having no tr is good because it renders all survivor tr perks useless. Best example is BT. If they are asleep they need to think how to save if i'm around and they can't just insta save.
