Nuts to pallets can I get non-potato solo survivors to unhook me?!

How to stop camping 101: Do Gens quickly
This is from a solo 50/50 killer survivor main
-
I actually tried to get a buddy to get back into it after he left years ago. It was free on PSN so we both got it and he dropped off fairly quickly but I stuck with it.
He thought the RE chapter would be fun to get back into but even sitting on the same couch, PS5 thankfully so it actually works, he was dumbfounded by the amount perks, maps, loops, levels, etc. He simply had no desire to play more than a few rounds on my account so he could actually bring in the meta perks.
-
As a pretty regular Huntress player, I often find that proxy camping becomes the most optimal path to the W. I'm only in the high green ranks most of the time but more often than not survivors are so quick to rush to the save that it makes 0 sense for me to go too far off. They aren't doing gens, they are just crotch walking around waiting for me to run off for no reason.
Now I want to patrol the gens but when I see 2 of the 3 non-hooked survivors walking towards the hook I might as well just hang out as well.
-
Ahh the joys of the scratched mirror. I don't think I would try that right now with no DC penalty but man I love that build!
-
What was the old version of Remember Me?
-
To be fair you can only do Dev on so many systems and the older systems will eventually need to be sunsetted. Now at the moment since the PS5 and new XB are hard to come by and so many console players are on last-gen systems it's good business to keep working with them but no matter what I would assume they stop doing work for those older systems by mid-2022 end of 2022 latest.
Best fix: Spend 1200 on a scalped PS5!
-
Honestly, a really easy way to keep going but also not totally screw over new players with 100000 perks to unlock would be to simply find a point in the game's lifecycle, say 6th anniversary, and drop a 1-time purchase item to unlock all perks prior to that point. Not the Chars themselves, those are still purchased as normal but the perks.
Edit: By 1 time I don't mean limited just a single purchase.
-
Hell people play Runescape and WoW for decades so if the content is solid and they prioritize some game health and QOL changes who knows!
-
Any word on if the PTB changes to DH are making it live?

I don't think it's keys that needed the change as much as the hatch. Hatch shouldn't spawn until there is one person left. And then the trophy for all four escaping via hatch needs to go. I'm tired of losing games because one person camps it while I try to get the last gen done, and theyre found and the hatch is instantly closed. They screw us both over. It actually helps the killer in a lot of situations, not that any killer would ever admit that.
Killer mainish here 60/40 here and I agree with you. If I'm down to 2 survivors it's amazing how many times I'll find the hatch and AMAZINGLY there is a survivor creeping around it waiting for their solo pal to actually to the gen or die. So it becomes an easy down and hatch close.

This is every Leatherface player in a nutshell.
Hey! Hey!...sometimes I insidious face camp the basement too lol.
-
For me, I'm a 50/50 split solo survivor and killer. The killer is always more fun even if I'm being bullied because then I can just face camp one to death and feel like I had a good time.
Solo survivor is also fun but when idiot teammates run a killer towards you, unhook without BT in front of the killer, or simply can't do a gen to literally save their lives it's not fun or relaxing it's rage-inducing.
Long story short is that I can make any killer game somewhat fun, I cannot do that as a survivor.

Most people who play all games are clueless and shockingly bad. I've stopped playing a lot of games because it's a miserable experience to play solo. DBD is one of them. I stop for months at a time and hope when I come back, something will have changed. The game keeps getting worse. Teammates are a dumb as always.
It is amazing how bad the average player is. So often you can see 3 of them sitting off in the corner pulling off self-care while you sit on your 1 hook all the way to death and then they all die in about 3 minutes as they yolo rescue in the basement against a bubba.
-
Honestly I almost never see it anymore. So much so that I don't even play around it because I see it so little now.
-
I play lots of the killer roster and I'll say this about tunneling. If you get unhooked and then sit around the area trying to self-care or just be cheeky while everyone else booked it...I'm going to down you all over again.
I swear that 75% of the times I "tunnel" (hit the same person who was most recently unhooked) it's because they are potatoes and it would be dumb of me not to. Granted I'll take out the survivor through tunneling if it's clear they are the MVP. You bring a high rank into your low-level team and it's super obvious I'm going to rush them down. This is the best possible tactic to ensure I win the round and I won't self hinder the W to appease the other 4 players.
-
My only issue as a solo player is that I have to essentially use a small subset of perks because I can never rely on teammates to actually play the game like they have a brain. I would love to get a group and try out some of the teamwork perks and actually see them work to their fullest.
I try my best to be a good teammate, I always run borrowed time, often some Dwight perk and look to keep people alive but after a few games where I'm basically alone doing gens or saves I feel the need to swap to selfish load outs to find the hatch after my team gets 3k in the basement making yolo saves.

Why even ask? They already said they won't do it. They'll just keep vomiting content until the game breaks. Wouldn't be surprised if at some point they announced DBD2.
DBD2 would be such a bad idea IMO unless it was treated as a large expansion. Can you imagine splitting up the player base and throwing out all the grind work to create a new standalone game whooo boy.
-
Ahhh the lengths people will go to for an advantage in a videogame. Reminds me of the times where you could buy legit Gears of War 2 branded lag switches on ebay.

We could have done the gen if the Claudette and the Kate werent looking for a hatch that wasnt already spawn.
Its not my fault at all dude.
SO you waited on 2 potatoes to suddenly stop being potatoes for 40 minutes...your fault you sat in that game 100%. Not your fault why it happened but your fault for the amount of time wasted.
-
This makes no sense to me OP. Why not just sit on the gen with your friend, force the killer to down you, and get out of the match? If you literally tried to do single gen from what sounds like 40 minutes that's all on you.
Sure it sucks that you had a stale game but how long did you actually try to do that last gen?
If it was more than 15 minutes you were holding yourself hostage at that point.

I can't watch that one without laughing my ass off.
Help me out, what video am I looking for?
-
If match macking worked well SWF wouldn't be an issue. Other games do it much better when you try to stack your team with a ringer.
For example, let's say an SWF team has a 10, 7,7,2 on it. The entire team should be pulled up to the rank of the highest player so their killer should be 4 or above. Right now I'm a rank 8 killer getting several red ranks and 1 yellow rank SWF teams, Sure the lower level players have to step up but that's what happens when you bring in someone so far ahead of you.
If everyone was close to my level I really think SWF teams wouldn't be as big an issue, still an issue but not like they are now.
-
I've been jumping on TTV survivors streams while I'm in their survivor group and some of the excuses and chat they spew are hilarious. I'm watching them try to loop and getting smacked and of course, it's just a litany of excuses that vaults don't work, the killer is lagging, the lunge was longer than it could be, and so on.
Or they are sitting in a corner doing jack all and complain that their team is trash for not doing all 5 gens while they do nothing but run in circles and chat to their 3 viewers about their thoughts on the new killer or patch.
It's becoming one of my favorite things about the solo survivor.
-
Because I have no reason to leave the hook if I can see all 3 of the other survivors waiting to rush the hook. There is a strategy to dealing with that as the killer and just getting lead off in a chase isn't often the best choice. I've had several situations like that where I can get multiple hits or even a hit and then a grab by being close to the hook.
If you implemented that rule survivors could totally abuse it to pause the time or force a chase off.
-
Decided to play Trapper for a bit this week and I can only assume that he's not seen by survivors very often because I have been getting traps left and right recently. Maybe it's my new placement strategy but it sure seems like people forgot how to play against him.
Tha said the new look is pretty sweet.

For the stun challenge, I managed to do it 'easily' with Head On, Quick and Quiet and DS. You get one or two Head On stuns, which annoys them into tunnelling you for an easy third stun with DS. It took me 'only' six games for all 12 stuns.
After getting through the main rift to get the totems or whatever they are called I started doing the stun challenges and getting the killer tilted really helps. I got 5 suns on a very angry Bubba in a single game. I was hard camped after that but worth it!
-
I stopped running any Hex perk that has an active totem from the start simply because I haven't gone a single match without my totem getting cleansed in under a minute for the last 2 weeks. For me right not any active Hex is a waste because it's instantly cleansed.

The hatch is still there dude. And assuming it always will be as an alternative escape route 🙂 the problem players are having is you get that one team member literally walking around to find it at the start if the match, eventually does find it and doesn't bother doing anything positive for the team to get out together but hide and camp it until everyone dies. That's the issue. The issue isn't that is being used, the issue is how easy it is for your team player to not fix gens, not save and just hide in a locker or in the corner until everyone else is game over for the swift belt the hatch. Ideally who ever does that is an absolute plonker anyway as they're literally losing so many BP for that action, and rightly so having your other team doing all the work for the safety.
Couldn't explain that more clearly I'm afraid 😅 x
Yeah I know all that my question was, was there ever a time the hatch wasn't in the game?
-
How long ago was the hatched added? It's always been in the game since I started playing so I have no idea what this game is like without it. Sounds wild TBH, you would be forced to do all gens and exit gate or just die, is that right?

When has DBD been horror as of 2021?
It's a hide and go seek game at best.
Also, the game literally feels terrible when playing solo.
In DBD Mobile, you at least get visual cues on when a killer is close by or what direction it's at.
We need smth like that for solo queue or this game will be dead before it becomes "not" horror.
Does the mobile game connect with your PC/console game. Like can I earn blood points on mobile to use on PS?

You're right, I can never take Kindred out of my build because solo queue is damn near unplayable without it. You either bring Kindred or have a decent chance of being left on the hook until struggle phase... I just wish they would stop adding the most basic stuff to perks. I only have so many perk slots.
So you're saying double the survivor perk slots!
I hope everyone knows I'm kidding please to berate me!
-
Feel like I need to be a part of this convo just to say that stretched res is an exploit and so is DPI manipulation.
On topic I haven't played as much as many people on here but I get a solid hour or two a day and I have only played against Blight 2 times in the last 2 months. Maybe it's because I only really started playing survivor and I'm only rank 7 right now but I just don't see him at all in lower/middle ranks.

@Anara said:
Its not a buff or a nerf but I want them to rework the huntress, addons and hitboxes. She really need it. For me she is the more buggy killer of the game, I love her story but she is my least favorite killer to go against because of hitboxes and red hatchets.
Trying to get back into her and the hitboxes are killing me. I'm seeing hatchets catch invisible corners every game and it's really frustrating.
-
@Homemade_Cookies said:
Duh. It's high risk, high return mechanic.
What did you expect? A frickin treasure hunt for survivors?
Hex totems are supposed to be vulnerable.
90 seconds cleanse? Too bad.
They have the most powerful effects in all of DBD and yet you want to have the cake and eat it too.
Either don't equip Hex totems if you're scared of them being cleansed or just suck it up and think it's bad luck.
Ummmm yeah they should be a hunt. I guess we found the survivor main who gets NOED smacked every game lol
-
I just bought Bubba like 2 weeks ago and I forgot all about this strat. Maybe I'll level him up a bit and give it a shot, sounds like you can get some good laughs off it.
-
If a survivor leads a killer to me and tries to block my path or force me to take a hit because they are trash I will root for them to get tunneled out of the game 100%
Now if taking a hit makes sense and they aren't just trying to have the killer aggro me that's solid gameplay.

I haven't yet tried this but cruel limits and tinkerer with Bubba in Lery's map might be fun. Maybe take bitter murmur in case you don't make it in time to the generator so you know where everybody went. This can also work well with Billy, demon mode Oni or t3 Myers. If you get lucky timing with haunted grounds this could work with other killers too.
These are two Doctor builds that I love:
Tiny terror radius doctor:
M&M, STBFL and double calm addons (purple and yellow). Two other perks can be BBQ, ruin, nurses, sloppy, dying light, enduring, spirit fury etc. Up to your play style. Don't use your shock except at the end to find last survivors and just smack everyone with fast cooldown. I love this build and it's more effective that people give it credit for.
Anti-healing doctor:
Distressing, coulrophobia and again double calm addons are the core of this build. Two other perks can be sloppy, thana or dying light. Maybe also other terror radius perks like unnerving or even overwhelming presence if there's many items in the lobby. Try to get everybody injured and be in treatment mode as much as possible. This build works well also for Myers if you use dead rabbit and infinite t3 addons.
I'm dumb but what is M&M?
-
I've been having a pretty good run of fun games recently. There are always some sweat lords on the survivor and killer side but mainly it's been pretty good. If I was going to have a complaint it's that people are actually just not very tactical on the whole. The number of times I watch my teammates just run around like headless chickens while someone leads a killer on a 2-minute chase is crazy high.
As for the tunneling I have seen lots of posts about this but I haven't noticed a change at all in the last few months. I'm only rank 8 but from 20-8 I have been tunneled maybe 5 times and some of those were likely because I had found a key in a chest or was simply looping the killer enough to get them tilted.
-
Just left a game where this happened and came here to see if it was known. Legion straight up M1'd right through the pallet no stun and I took the hit.
-
Last 3 games I found a pink key, thought it was just me.
-
I've tunneled several survivors who really try to mess things up but fail. For example, if you try to sabo hooks but fail more than once, that's a tunnel. Try multiple flashlights saves and fail, tunnel. I think you get it.
If you are actually good and pull that stuff off, normal game from me. If you're an overconfident scrub I just want you out of the way because I'm annoyed by it.
As a survivor, I've only had one killer msg me (PS5) after a tunnel and they simply said they hate Dwight.
-
I'm 60% Killer, 40% survivor myself. I stopped playing for almost 2 years and jumping back in I have lots of new teachable perks to unlock so playing everyone is still fun and fresh!
-
But isn't the Iri Head a perk only viable at a higher skill ceiling? I don't mean the avergage player won't land 1 or 2 but it's not like the average huntress is going to drop every shot on the money. I play 40% survivor and I rarely run into it, maybe it's a red ranks thing but to really be effective you have to be pretty solid as a Huntress IMO. Kind of similar to how a Nurse is junk unless played by a highly-skilled player.

Fun fact, the most brutal hate mail I ever received was on Xbox 360 Uno. Late-night guilty drunk game for me and my buddy and it was amazing how mad people got when you dropped like 30 cards on them.
-
Yeah DBD has some toxic players and the forums get a bit nasty but it is sooo much better than something like Warzone. Man, I would get a hate msg a game on WZ for anything and everything. It isn't even like normal get good or hacker stuff it's legit hate from those sad sweaty folks.
Sniper kill - hate mail
fair gunfight - hate mail
gulag win - hate mail
etc.
-
This has so many "ok DBD boomer" notes in it I think it's a troll.
This is my favorite "he man has pink hair, manly milk gutters for a chest, makes really nasty/sexual type grunts, and is just beyond femine in his stature. The bullets in chest only make him look like he got shot during a protest."
Sounds like a drunk uncle at Thanksgiving talking about the barista at the Starbucks that bought out his old crappy coffee shop lol.
