I believe until the kills/escapes based mmr is gone, nothing will change.
-
I do think after a Hex is destroyed, the hex should retain half of its power somehow, its unfair to use a perk that can permanently be disabled so easy.
-
@squbax said:
Most hexes are useless so unless you have a 5 stack devour no other hex is worth defending as most of them are really bad.
I barely see any killers run hexes anymore, they rather use reliable perks that you always get value from.

I made this, for what that's worth.
Can we just delete coh without having to give any advantage to survivors?

That is what I heard from some too, and you need video proof as well. Makes me wonder how efficient EAC is.
Lets say hackers can bypass everything EAC has to offer.

Playing killer might not be for everyone. I still don't think it is as bad as killers make it out to be. At certain times of the day, it takes a very long time to find a match as killer. I think the double bloodpoints is a good idea for the role that is needing players at the moment.
Then maybe you should play more killer Sluzzyboi

Usually I'd like to present some evidence on why only up to 10% of players in queue are playing killer but I fear the forum mods won't like it due to these statistics being extracted via third party tools. Those of you who follow certain content creators might have heard about the related twitter thread, though.
One thing's very clear however: there's a severe lack of killers playing this game nowadays, caused by them either reducing their playtime or outright quitting DbD. Those who bother to stick around have 2 options: either play Nurse/Blight or become a dedicated camper/tunneler to gain any progress in a simplified MMR system that heavily promotes kills over any other sort of interaction.
The reduced killerpool also makes any actual balanced matchmaking borderline impossible due to lack of diversity in the skillpool. There are far too many survivors who have learned to abuse their role to the fullest extent.
Perks like Circle of Healing and Dead Hard have made the killer experience extremely stale and repetitive. Simply hitting a survivor to spread "pressure" doesn't work anymore, healing as a mechanic is absolutely out of control. You're literally forced to commit to any chase while the other 3 survivors are finishing gens at alarming rates. And those chases can take VERY long if you're playing a simple m1 killer with no other way to down someone.
It's only going to get worse the longer BHVR neglects these issues. Nerfing these insane perks would be the first step to address the situation, the next step should be to buff 75% of the killer-roster, and finally killers should get an inherent BP multiplier to compensate for the extreme stress they have to endure.
Playing DbD as a killer feels like a chore, it's anything but fun. Survivors already make as much bp as the killer if they know what they're doing, this isn't really fair considering how their role is the much easier one.
I agree with this so much,I rarely play killer now,why would I? Its a stress inducing experience and its much more fun to play survivor with friends.
The reasons you gave on why barely anyone plays killer are on point, its not fun and it feels unfair.

In my region last month, there are a lot more killers/survivors who are using third-party software and made the game unplayable. I felt frustrated and exhausted about the situation, but remain hopeful that the issues will be fixed after I come back from the break. And guess what, my first match after 1 month ended in 10 seconds, which the killer instant downed and instant hooked everyone as well as an instant third phase, all this while teleporting around. So instead of the hacking issues being fixed, they are now evolved. I am not surprised when my friend told me the player numbers are worrying. Because aside from toxic survivors and killers, we now have more hackers, which at the very least you can try to tolerate the former, and you can't do anything about the latter.
Has the dev addressed the hacker situation before? Is Easyanticheat doing its job by not only sniffing out the hackers but also updating and follow-up on any newest hacking methods? Is the hacker issue more severe in certain regions only thus being ignored? Is it because the majority of the hackers get away with it or they can just open a new account because there is no ip ban and the game is cheap?
I feel tired and hopeless with this situation. I do want to support the game and one of the main reasons I return to the game is to get all the rift rewards as a perfectionist. But when I can't even "play the game", which is like 5 out of 10 games I have gotten, I am not sure if I want to waste time and torture myself.
No,you can even report them with ticket and they still wont get banned.

I actually think thrill of the hunt is slightly better than it was before. But only slightly.
While the max slowdown went from 30% to 50%, because of the way it's calculated the max slowdown is actually more than double what it was before in terms of how much extra time it takes to do a totem (went from 20 seconds to 28), and it still serves two purposes, those being to slow cleansing and blessing. Thrill of the hunt can still have some value now even if it's your only remaining hex totem, vs. before it was pretty much worthless on its own.
Also, in a meta where survivors don't often cleanse dull totems and opt to bless them instead, this keeps thrill's tokens higher too because the only way to weaken it is cleansing totems. Boon totems still count towards its penalty stacks.
They dont cleanse dull totems but they cleanse hexes,Thrill is a hex.

Given that this is probably the most unified I've seen the player base (in terms of opinions on overall game state / fun), I'm almost certain that CoH or DH will be slammed soon to placate people.
I'd imagine this will be followed shortly (or simultaneously) with a face camping and/or NOED nerf.
Just conjecture, but one has to assume some type of offering will be made to placate the mob.
Why not both? They both affect the weakest killers in the game the most.

That was the biggest thing it had going for it. Now, the biggest thing it has going for it is that it slows down blessing to a tremendous degree and only loses power if a totem is cleansed, not if it's blessed.
I'd argue that's just as strong, if not stronger. Thrill was never a good perk, it was always the second-best totem defence perk out of a grand total of two, so I'm glad to see it have an actual niche now.
Its nowhere near as good as it was, back then it basically gave you a free chase and made sure your hex is not getting cleansed anytime soon, unless another survivor takes the time coming for it,and that only if they we're swf and letting each other know.
Now sure it takes a few extra seconds to cleanse them and to bless which I dont think is stronger than the information it used to give.

People seem to misrepresent what the daily login totals mean in regards to the overall size of the game. People talk as if there are 2 Million people playing at any given time, which is not the case. Let's break it down with some rough math to try and put that number into perspective.
Nearly 2 Million players logging in every day would equate to around 83,000 people online each hour, which already doesn't seem that big when you consider Steam accounts for around 35,000 alone. This means Steam likely accounts for over 40% of all active players.
Of that 40% Steam represents, they have lost over 30% of the playerbase in the last 6 months. Even assuming the other platforms are net neutral (which seems unlikely) those are considerable losses to look at in the grand scheme of things. The fact they just put out a massive new licensed chapter and are still losing players speaks volumes about general game health, and BHVR should be greatly concerned by those numbers when thinking about player retention.
Is 80,000 concurrent players anything to sneeze at? Certainly not — it's most likely indicative of pretty sizeable profits to be quite frank. That said, that doesn't mean the fact that the game is trending downward isn't of concern. Is BHVR making a profit now? Sure, but their profits are probably beginning to taper off at far more rapid a rate than they should be comfortable with, and it really shows the game health is nowhere near where it needs to be in my humble opinion.
What do you guys think? Should we all be concerned for the future of the game? Should BHVR?
I agree,that is such a bs number.
Someone compared saying Lost Ark over 1mil players online at the same time is meh compared to dbd 2mil players active everyday when in reality is never over 100k online at the same time everyday 🤣🤣

And now it turns a 24 second blessing time into one that takes over a minute. So I'd argue that they removed one effect and buffed another.
True, but why bless a hex when you know you're dealing with thrill of the hunt in the first place?
95% of the times no one blesses hexes until they get rid of thrill of the hunt
-
@jesterkind said:
You don't really need to protect hexes, some of them kinda require you to be actively doing other things and don't give you the time to protect the totem- Ruin needs survivors pressured off gens, Devour Hope needs a very active playstyle, Blood Favour and Crowd Control are only useful if you're getting in a lot of chases...
Sometimes a totem can be bait, but that's not really the same as needing to defend it.
Also, Thrill wasn't really nerfed, it was reworked. It's just as strong, if not stronger, right now.
Its not stronger, the biggest thing going for it was the fact it allowed you to know if someone was touching your hex.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
"The most important thing for a killer to defend is their hexes when bringing them."
Nope. The most important thing is still to prevent Survivors from doing Generators. If your Hex is found, it is gone. There is 0 reason to protect it, because unless more than one Survivor is trying to cleanse it, the others will be free to do Gens. And there is also no point to defend a Ruin-Totem if you dont chase Survivors away from Gens.
Not only worying about defending your Hex but do it if the timing is right. You can get a lot of pressure by doing so againts survivors that really want to get rid of your hex.
But the main point of this thread is killers have no way of telling if someone is messing with their hexes anymore

You're right, it isn't a secondary objective for survivors!
It's not a secondary objective for killers either since you never need to snuff; once again, taking CoH out of the equation, they're all outplayable on their own. What you can do is snuff if it's convenient and get that 14 seconds of slowdown multiple times.
You need to even if it isn't coh, shadow step can make you lose a chase, exponential can make you lose a slug, they are more situational than coh but not useless, and usually when survivors run something else other than coh,is usually coh + 1 of these or both.
You cant call the other boons useless since they are good, just more situational.
Please do tell me how not snuffing a shadow step boon on the game is something a killer shouldn't bother with?
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2870721#Comment_2870721
What we got, in theory, is something that provides back-and-forth slowdown so survivors aren't hugging generators all the time. One way of doing that is having killer powers that impose a detriment on survivors, and the other way of doing it is to give survivors a benefit for going out of their way and ignoring generators.
Once you ignore CoH, it's not as though the boons are overwhelmingly powerful. They're an edge, and in a lot of cases it takes the killer dramatically less time to snuff it than it does for the survivor to set it up.
14 seconds for a single survivor to bless a boon, while the others can focus on gens doesn't feel like a secondary objective for survivors at all and more for the killer, especially the kind of power boons can get you.

I don't know who is more lame. These people that rage quit, talking sh*ts in chat or these YouTubers that makes videos about them to get likes and comments.
Some of them are just people that had to deal with it,so might as well make a video about dealing with that kind of toxicity.
I think its a good thing having someone calling out the very toxic ones and adress their behavious, some of them got better because of this.
-
Those that get very toxic and clearly rage at everyone over everything should also not play a game like this.
There are so many twitch streamer that do it in front of an audience, there's a lot of content about it on youtube about raging streamers that clearly need medical help.

That is a very context dependant statement.
One of the things that I do think could use some refining is the totem spawns- there are areas that are just too much of a hassle to go snuff, but I wouldn't call those the majority. There are just as many totem spots where snuffing them is quick and easy, and it drags the associated survivor off a generator to set it back up again if they want their perk back.
Boons aren't meant to be a pure secondary objective, they're meant to have back and forth to provide more engaging slowdown than just making an action take longer. The core design does fill that role, it just needs a little push and for CoH to be brought in line.
Survivor needed a secondary objective that doesn't give them any advantage, but something extra they need to do in order to escape.
What we got is a secondary objective for killers to deal with because the boon powers will turn a game even more in the survivors advantage if not dealt with.
Its that obvious.

You cannot compare the time investment of a killer vs a survivor. The killer is alone, therefore he gives up his entire game pressure just to get rid of 1 single perk that can be replaced at any time. There are also a good bunch of very crazy indoor totem spots that require the killer to take a giant detour just to get to it.
A survivor cleansing a totem is just 1/4th of the entire teams time and effort meanwhile 3 others can still go for saves, hump generators or take the killers aggro and get chased.
Exactly, snuffing 1 boon,it only takes 14 seconds for 1 survivor to get it back,1,while others can do gens or be in a chase with the killer.
While killer can lose his hex 30 seconds in a game, and its gone forever, which happens most of the times.
So I really dont think boons are fair compared to hexes.

Not a good comparison, but I will agree CoH is overtuned. The other boons are mostly fine although shadowstep can be kinda broken sometimes.
A hex like devour is just a straight up game ender. Blood favor is completely free downs. Ruin can extend the game 10 fold. Crowd control makes looping extremely difficult while it is active. Plaything is incredible on certain kills and maps.
Pentimento can also be a game ender in theory although people are too focused on getting to 5 stacks when in reality keeping 1 stack up 5 times is better than attempting to get all 5 at once. 30% gen slowdown is all it needs to do.
Shadow step on a map like the game is pretty insane.

In my experience, It only helps in the endgame when multiple teammates are trying to body block an injured survivor you're trying to down, and even then, only IF they aren't less than 1m away from them. Otherwise It doesn't help her at all when attempting a hook, nor does it help when pursuing an injured survivor running from a gen (as most other survivors not on in SWF or on VOIP won't go to help them).
Honestly to me, the only things she has that are strong are her potential map pressure (at a high time cost for using it), and her semi-phased state after manifesting (because she's the only "Stealth" and m1 ranged killer with a lullaby radius, and everything she does: every interaction, attack, vault, break or any usage of her power... is directionally audible to survivors) which can be used for some, albeit random, misdirection when used against survivors.
I think the TVS shouldn't turn of after she teleports through them and only when the survivor shuts them down for 60 seconds.
Also they should remove her lullaby,I think this will be enough to make her a decent stealth killer that's not too oppresive.

Now, now: Territorial Imperative doesn't grant you the option to immediately teleport to the basement. Which, now that I think about it, It honestly should, even if the teleport takes 3 seconds to do, that's still at least 2 seconds behind when the survivor enters it, and could lead to some excellent plays on both sides an-* AHEM * I digress.
What, I guess, I'm pointing out is that she's actually better than the current iteration of Territorial Imperative... but not by much. If I were to compare her to a perk, it'd be Surge/Jolt: Too many requirements to get it to work, meager map pressure/rewards, not enough benefit, and above all... not at all universal to killer players who don't completely focus on it!
Sadly, no one listens to me, or appreciates my ideas.
Sigh... to quote an old song, "I've tried so hard, and gone so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter" (Linkin Park, In The End) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVTXPUF4Oz4
Ignore the video, listen to the lyrics, and tell me this doesn't apply to the current DBD Killer player mentality.
I agree Sadako has strong things going for her as well, such as completely denying bodyblocking and being short which helps a lot in some loops.

Better than Artist by far.

Sadako is as op as territorial imperative as a perk.

Every game is the same, see a downed one, stop working on the gen cause pain resonance, if you know you are safe continue without triggering dead man's if not leave the gen, rinse and repeat. There's a counter to it and not always its a successful build, it's a strong one but if you know what you're doing its easily countered.
The thing is, I'm not even complaining it's strong or unfair it's just SO BORING and repetitive cause its game after game :/

What I'm saying is BHVR could totally shut this game down tomorrow and they've still made enough money to not care, the fact that it's going six years strong says alot, how many other games do you know that have survived this long and continue to add updates and new content? There are some that have done it but there's very few and the ones you can name are insanely successful games like GTA and Fortnite
There are a few but I agree,i'm not saying Dbd doesn't deserve it but it also had to do with the fact there was not real competition for a long time for them.
