I have a weird feeling that the flashlights are a bit buggy since the last patch. Since yesterday it happened to me three times that a perfectly timed flashlight save didn't work. You might think, "That means you didn't time the blind perfectly," but I've been playing since 2017 now and I've never doubted whether I was too early or too late until now.

Today I was even a bit too late and the killer took a step back like 0.5 seconds before the blind. Either I'm losing my mind or something is wrong.

I had the same thought, especially today. I have noticed trying to blind on the pallet breaks and window vaults... it just wasn't working. Maybe the increased movement speed for killer interactions has messed up the flashlight blinds. There just doesn't seem to be enough time to get the blind.

People who use "95%" statistics are full of crap 95% of the time.

And 100% of the people who use this as a reply do so because they have nothing of value to add.

'It's your choice to go back to the hook'. #########?

HALF THE TEAM is around that hook; the unhooked, and an unhooker. Sometimes 3 people are there, for various reasons.

Am I supposed to ignore the hook because I might look like a meany-face for going back? 😂

And let's say 2 or 3 gens popped in that first chase; a not uncommon result, these days. Am I now not supposed to go after the wounded prey that I only need to hit once, because Survivors think it's mean to 'tunnel'? Yet more 'The Killer is not allowed to try winning' propaganda.

And it's THAT mindset, that the Killer has to play 'honorably' according to made up rules, that sees Survivors using the excuse 'The Killer played toxic, so I can be toxic back in chat' also known as 'He started it!'.

And yes; the mindset, if not the situation, goes both ways; Killers see Survivors do something they SUBJECTIVELY consider 'toxic' and use it as an excuse to abuse people in the chat.

And that mindset is also why you see so many threads about how 'unfair' or 'toxic' camping/slugging/tunneling/perk/Killer are; it's people trying to force their SUBJECTIVE rules onto the game as golden law, while having 0 idea what balance is.

If 4 survivors are still in the game, and you choose to go back to the hook... you can't complain about the rate that gens get done. You are potentially leaving 2 survivors to sit uninterrupted.

Going back to the hook is easy. I run kindred in every game... 95% of killers proxy camp the hook. Meanwhile everyone is sitting on a gen, with no pressure.

I’m on Xbox one, and with the most recent patch the stutters have gotten even worse. I don’t mean to disrespect the developers, but it’s seeming more and more obvious play testing is at a minimal.

Not gonna lie... kinda jealous on how well your game runs. First trickster hit would have lagged, spun me around and had me running back into him.

I am also on xbox one. Until this newest chapter... my game ran super smoothly. The very rare lag... but it is hilariously unplayable.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

Heard from a friend that since he disabled crossplay he has been having less fps/lag issues since the update.

You might want to try it out.

Idk if this also applies to xbox1.

Best of luck and hopefully it is true that way you can enjoy the event tomorrow.

Definitely does not help. The newest patch has actually broke the game for me. Vault a window, lag out... get spun around... frozen in place and downed.

    I really hope they extend the rift. Or change all my challenges to things like;

Miss 3 skill checks due to lag

In 1 game, freeze mid vault 7 times

It's a fundamental right for Americans, but dbd is not played only in America, other countries have different laws.

Also, as somebody already pointed out, it's not even developed by Americans.

Behaviour is Canadian. Under our Charter Laws, we have freedom of expression... with reasonable limits enforcement. The government has authority to protect people from defamation and hate speech.

You may have the right to say whatever you want, but you are not free of consequence.

Not directing this at you personally... just in case you were curious.

  • @Zixology said:

Let's get this out of the way first... DS does NOT prevent tunneling. If the killer is going to tunnel you, they'll do it even after you use DS on them. It just prolongs it by 5 seconds.

Prior to the nerf, killer mains who would WANT to tunnel would have the fear of DS in the back of their heads. That's what would prevent them from doing it. Meanwhile survivors who would use it think that they're safe and the killer totally won't keep going after them if they use DS, right??

Now, after the nerf, survivors see "DS nerf? I can't use it now." And don't run it. Killers see "DS nerf? My fears are now gone! I'm free to tunnel!" And, if a killer does tunnel someone who happens to actually have DS now, they notice that 5 seconds isn't stopping them from tunneling. So they continue. Hence the massive increase in tunnelling since the update (according to the majority of posts here and other places).

DS was never an anti-tunnel perk. At least it wasn't effective. Killers would tunnel someone out of a match if they really wanted to, DS or not. Now is no different. The object of "fear of DS" is gone, meaning so is the "use" of the perk.

A perk should not be required to avoid being tunneled (during main game, endgame is a different story) in the first place. The Devs need to stop trying to fix game mechanics that people don't like by adding a perk for it. This goes for killers too. We shouldn't have a new slow-down perk added when people complain about speed. We shouldn't have anti-tunnel perks added when people complain about tunneling. Instead, the devs should just fix the base game.

Interesting. I am also wondering if tunnelling could also be tied to the pip system.... based on your psychological theory.

When/if rank is eliminated and there is no visual conformation of a good match, will the tunnelling become less prevalent?

  • 🤣 ya cause things are predictable. Phones ring, dogs need out, and people show up at doors.

The entire reason for cross play is because console survivors couldn't get a game due to practically zero killers. they don't want you to turn it off and are making it as horrible as they can when you do.

    All about the money.

This isn't true. I play on console, with crossplay off, and rarely have/had long wait times. Crossplay on was a nightmare. Those globe people spent too much time trying to mimic their favourite streamer. Then they DC'd.

  • I have had really great success running:

    Detectives Hunch

    Iron Will

    Lithe or Balanced

    and the absolute must, Kindred.

The in-game entertainment of watching the trio team, you got stuck queuing with, run around a hook like a bunch of overcooked McNuggets is priceless.

  • Hmmm I would put Elodie near the top... power struggle and deception are really fun in builds.

  • I must be the odd one... I love facing off against a good Deathslinger.

  • @Woot1234 said:

Just a hypothesis. Survivor ethnicities are likely a function of where the player base lives.

K pop killer just screams "we're trying hard to break into Korean competitive sports."

Claudette, the Canadian. Fueled by timbits and sweet sweet maple nectar; Claudette silently builds trenches to run power from the generators you suckers fix.

Once enough powerlines are ran, she silently returns to the entrance of her igloo (jokes on you for thinking she's hiding in a bush). Like a Canadian winter, Mademoiselle Claudette is there for the long haul. After chilling her Canadian Clamato in her newly powered igloo (sorry eh), she pours herself a red-eye, and turns on her TV for some curling. Fueled by the surge, Claudette silently leaves her igloo and helps her team... in the most Canadian possible... she holds the door open for the lucky remaining survivors.

  • I made a suggestion a while back, that hatch shouldn't pre-spawn because of situations like this.

Nothing is more frustrating than doing the work, then dying on first hook because someone wants the hatch. The only reason the killer catches you is because you're the only one progressing the game.

I do hope the new MMR takes escapes into account... the hatch hounds won't survive long.

  • This is a really great starting point!! I also think Ruin should be a basekit hex totem, which opens a perk slot for killers. It is probably the easiest and fairest way to slow gen progression.

Hag would need a new perk though.

Again mmr is working as intended. It is per killer to allow people to play non meta killers like trapper without dealing with a 4 man sweat squad.

The more you play that character the more balanced your matches will get.

I have not touched billy since they gutted him and i got full brown ranks.

I played nurse and blight and got a mix of red and purple with some random smurf accounts at r20 with t3 meta perks.

Brown ranks should only go against brown ranks. Someone with 2000+ hours as killer, regardless of how many times they've played a certain killer... have no business going against brown rank survivors. You don't lose your understanding of the game because you're playing a new killer.

You could try a new killer and destroy a full brown rank SWF sweat squad with their 1 yellow perk...

I see nothing wrong here. You clearly went on a killer you never play looking at the non t3 perks, so mmr is working as intended.

Except a rank 2 killer understands the game. Doesn't matter if it's the first time or 100th time they've played death slinger... they still have the skill level of rank 2.

I started running lithe, dance with me, iron will, and quick and quiet just for the lawls cause solo queue is awful. To my surprise it's been very successful in juking most killers even at red ranks. It's refreshing co.pared to the meta.

I use that build, but throw in Detectives Hunch instead of dance with me.

The game is much more fun when you're trying something new. I also love to do perk roulette... makes for some good laughs.

  • Keep in mind that a large portion of this player base are either kids or young adults... and they have zero experience in that area. Sexual references and vulgarity lose their hilarity as we grow up.

the condition isn't clear and i don't think it needs to be earned.

This a common argument and we both have a point as i think the last survivor should always have a chance to escape since the killer already won and you believe that the survivor needs to earn it which depending on how the game could have gone might not have been an option.

There are also people how thing hatch should just be removed, those people to me are just wrong and want to remove a good mechanic instead of being creative and offering a good solution since it would make getting the last kill easier.

I did state the last survivor will have hatch spawn, that is vital. Hatch pre-spawn handicaps a player who still works towards the escape.

  • @Mr_K said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1987160#Comment_1987160

This is not theory but history. Putting a progress bar on it doesn't change that it didn't spawn. Now you are back to the way it was.

Hatch will still spawn, it just won't pre-spawn. If you want a pre-spawn, earn it... is kinda where I am going with this idea.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1987196#Comment_1987196

my point was there really isn't a need for it

example 80% of a gen in nearly all games you can do that and still barely do anything. Then you can get games like mine where you just didn't have an opportunity to work on gens.

A progress bar would either be too easy to complete or too much, from experience 80% in a normal game even for those blendette players would be extremely easy.

I think hatch is important for end game, but I personally think it needs to be earned. Running the killer is earning an escape. Nothing sucks more than running the killer, getting caught and dying on first hook because your team mate is t-bagging on hatch.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

See there are just games where you can't do that depending on how your team did as well as your interaction with the killer. Like i have had games where i did every save as no one else went for them, got chased right after, and then had to escape by hatch as the killer just got back to back downs. I think i literally only repaired a gen to half way my team in that game just sucked. Also i feel that it should always be an option, having a requirement means you might not be able to fulfill it for one reason or the other and if it doesn't spawn it would just extend the game even more.

the only thing that needs to be changed about the hatch is how it is opened with keys.

I should have maybe used the term "hatch pre-spawn".

Or maybe each survivor has their own hatch progress bar? Keep the criteria as it is now, but if you're not pulling your weight hatch won't pre-spawn for you.

It would encourage more interaction with the killer, and encourage the killer not to camp hook.

  • @Mr_K said:

If hatch doesn't spawn then the game could last far longer than it should.

In fact this is somewhat the way it used to be. The hatch wouldn't appear if one or no gens were completed with one survivor remaining. The game would become a boring find the last survivor hiding in a random corner simulator.

Yes and no. If there was a visible progress bar you would realize you needed to get some work done or hatch wouldn't spawn.

As it stands now, games go on far too long because 2 people are waiting for the other to die so they can get hatch.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Is the challenge bugged? I've done it like 3 times now and it hasn't counted any time.

Do you have to like, drop a chase and start it like 5 times and vault once each time? Because it definitely did not count vaulting 5 times during one chase.

I got it without too much issue... tried 3x. I found I had to make sure I was in an active chase and not just within the terror radius (even if I was being "chased").

  • Tunnel and slug as you see fit. But you can't complain when survivors get tired of that play style and bring perks to counter it.

  • @ClownIsUnderrated said:

There's certain people out there who don't realize that the person your playing against probably has been through some stuff, making it even worse on them is wrong. Devs are finally making a chat filter for DBD where toxicity will be blocked out, it's a nice good step for dealing with toxicity but people on console still have to worry about sad acts filling their dm's up with gg ez comments.

I have never experienced so many console killers gg ez messages as I have since the last update. Thankfully there is a block function... I don't engage with them.

Last night was a "Get in your place you peasant"... as he camped the hook for his only kill. I was actually in a SWF and was laughing because my plan was to suicide once they got exit gates open. There was never any plan for a save.

    Hi,

Anyone noticing weird matchmaking lately? By lately I mean from the weekend.

I know its been a problem for a while. But lately the matchmaking has been even worse than usual. I am rank 5, playing solo and I am constantly being paired with rank 5-15 survivors and exclusively rank1 sweaty killers.

Is there not any rank1 SWFs to be matched with these killers? Can I not get one chill game? Do I always have to be demolished by someone 100 times better than me?

Rank 5 with rank 1 is pretty common. There are survivors who have fallen victim to the de-pip and emblem bugs. Rank literally means nothing right now.

That's why this game needs several game modes. Something for casual matches and ranked with tournament like rules.

I agree!! It would be nice to keep the current mode as "casual", then have a serious rank mode.

Again, completely missing the context of the entire post, please read the previous comments and replies first. The problem isn't with the game mechanics but the visualisation. If you're depipping, it is because you did badly, but the games visualisation of that show that you did well, which yes, is a bug and needs fixing.

The post was aimed toward the people who claim that the big is screwing them over when in fact, it's not, and they're just bad.

And yes, although in the screenshot you provided it looks like you did well enough, it probably is just the visualisation of the pip system telling you you did good, when in fact you didn't. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

🤣... I think the only issue is you have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @ttvbardberd said:

I've heard about the people getting a +pip only for it to be a -pip, so on so forth. But this hasn't happened to me in the game at all (As someone who does 12 hour+ streams of this game practically every day, I think I have some leeway here. If I depip, it's mainly because I didn't do well in a match).

To me it mostly sounds like people taking advantage of the clear Desync issues and other bugs that came with the most recent update and trying to find some way of blaming it on the game when it's actually just those players who suck or had a bug issues that game, and have that classic thought process of "Oh it can't be me because I'm good at the game, it must be the games fault I deranked".

If you want to pip up, the common rule is to get about 3 saves, a couple of heals, and work on 2-3 gens, with the main +pip being awarded for chases (Boldness) and escaping the killer.

I usually pip up every game if I do at least all of the above, and don't pip down unless I've done absolutely terrible (Even with the pip "bug").

If it was as big of an issue as everyone thinks, it would have been fixed by now. They fixed the custom games pip bug so quickly, so I feel like this would have been patched by now, it seems almost impossible that they haven't released something like this with the latest patch.

So it's mainly just the babies who play this game getting mad that they lost a pip (Even though you don't need pips to win the game, ranks don't matter in reality).

I think people forget that pips are rewarded to players who PLAY WELL. If you don't pip up, it's almost most certainly a you problem.

    20210218_082223.jpg

This is what is happening to some of us who do gens, make multiple saves and heals, engage the killer, cleanse totems, and escape.

The only way I can get a pip is by getting a +2 (and I only get 1 pip). There is no safety pip for me. I am either a hard earned +1, or an undeserved -1.

If I don't escape the match... I get no emblem, and it is an automatic -1. If the killer disconnects before the game loads... -1. Killer disconnects mid-game... -1.

But thank-you 12 hour a day streamer for telling me it isn't the game and that I just suck.

a bug that we hope will stay. Imagine that all matches you with survivors of the same level, the ranks 1 will be very few and if they do, it is because those players are good.

    @The_Krapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1959921#Comment_1959921

A bug that you better hope doesn't stay because there are a ton of top tier survivors right now who have to double pip just to regular pip , and a regular pip up is depipping them you can talk whatever nonsense you want about how you think it should stay but when you have a rank 1 who is at rank 10 because of a bug the killers are gonna get rolled over on in those ranks and that part of the bug definitely needs to go I have a friend who is undoubtedly better than me at survivor and I'm a rank one while he's at 9 right now due to this bug and is having the time of his life bullying those killers, as long as they fix that bug in particular I'm fine with the rest

The bug needs to be fixed. As the_krapper says... if we aren't double pipping to get a pip, we are de-pipping and rolling over lower rank killers.

There is no safety pip for some of us. There is a +1 or a -1. And the further we fall in rank, the more load we have to carry as a team mate. It kinda sucks doing 3 full gens, all the saves, and running the killer... but dying on 1st hook because your "team mate" is t-bagging on hatch... and then you get a -1.

  • @Shaped said:

If someone is hiding most of the game they don't pip.

I know someone who is rank 1 survivor who hides. He only does gens if they are safe, and will not make a risky hook rescue. If he is found, he goes down really fast.

He sent me a screenshot once, he gets an insane amount of bold points because he hides so well. I like having him in a game though... if someone commits to killer, he will pump out that last gen instead of sitting on hatch.

I've seen this! A friend of mine has this right now and they have to double pip to regular pip, he's a really good survivor honestly probably one of the better ones I know and he's been depipping alot because of this, id even say he's a better survivor than I am and I'm at rank 2 at the moment and he's all the way to 8 now but he can be on top the scoreboard and still depip somehow even doing everything that should be a guarantee rank up he had a perfect game yesterday and still deranked. He loves it but honestly if it's a deal happening all over you're gonna see alot of newbies leave the game because they're getting bullied by rank 1s who don't belong in those lower ranks.

Yes, and the emblem bug. If you don't escape you don't even get an emblem... which makes ranking up even harder (impossible for me). I finished the survivor side of the rift tonight, and thankfully most of my matches were against 1s and 2s. I feel bad playing against low rank killers, I try to not "bully" them, but it still feels bad.

This is literally the only time I'll suicide on the hook. I don't feel like hanging there for ages while everyone just hides. It's WORSE when there's you and one other player, you're on first hook, and they let you die to get the hatch

I would love a hatch rework. Maybe 3 hatches spawn but only one opens. It is quite irritating to die on first hook because your team mate wants hatch, and it is usually the team mate who does the least amount of work.

I mean as long as you can hold a chase for more than a total of 1 minute and do a gen or 2 you will black pip even in this new system. The only time I'll ever de-pip is when we get completely stomped at 4 or 5 gens but that's pretty rare. I don't believe anybody who says they dropped to green ranks but claim it wasn't them and it was solely the game. It sucks anyway because so few red rank survivors exist now I get matched with greens constantly.

    20210218_082223.jpg

This is what I have been dealing with. Everything is a -1. You don't have to believe anyone, but it is happening. If I don't escape, I don't even get an emblem.

  • I don't suicide on first hook very often. I did yesterday, when Charlotte hooked me in basement, and then went and blocked the stairs.

  • I would love to see Charlotte unable to block the basement stairs while someone is on the hook down there.

  • That is almost every game for me. I was playing tonight and noticed something... whenever I am within the killers terror radius my ping jumps from 50-60 to 200+... only within the terror radius. I started to notice a lag whenever the killer was around so I started checking the ping. Killer leaves and my ping drops down to normal, killer comes around and my ping spikes to over 200.

Eh, I don't get that very often when I play survivor. I occasionally cost killers games by getting a lucky loop they won't disengage from and by all means we have a tea party at the hook. I just usually feel it's more just resigned annoyance than dick waving.

Usually when I drop a gg they lighten up.
