I feel it's more often that the killer realizes they're screwed so they might as well get the one kill than the no kill, and I mean... you know where that survivor is.

When they slash you on hook, and stare deep into your eyes as they nod sweet nothings your way... it's more than likely the overcooked mcnugget needed to let you know they are the boss.

Not a good first date, swiping right next time.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Best defense is to learn how to loop. The better at looping you are, the less desirable to the killer you will look.

Yes and no... if gens are popping, it's a lost game and they will tunnel you to prove they are better. Not better than the other 3 players, just better than the person who lost them the game.

  • Just spent the last few hours playing "survivor perk roulette"... so Hope? Premonition? This is not happening?

Not all of it, just 99% of it!

yes killers are bad as well but their behaviour stems from that of the opposed majority!

I never disagreed that its highly abusable, again, no tunnelling involved, please actually read.

I'm making a separate point, and in no way am trying to paint myself as a victim, because I'm not, im not trying to justify tunnelling, its boring anyway.

I dont tunnel off hook, i neevr said DS was balanced or should stay in its current state, putting words in my mouth again, but that the fear of it is irrational when there is a way to avoid that which i s n t tunneling, stressing the isnt because apparently you cant read

    And the circle continues...

People equip DS in response to tunnelling. Killers change game play to counter it. Survivors add more perks to counter. Killers add new strategy, survivors counter, etc etc

I have just under 500 hours, mostly as survivor... have never ran DS (only used the perk in adept Laurie), and close to 80% of my matches I can understand why people run DS and UB. If tunnelling and slugging is a viable strategy, decisive strike and unbreakable are simply the counter.

Don't like the solution? Don't introduce the problem.

    Anyone who is doing adept.

Sometimes I kind of see who is doing adept and It makes me want to give them hatch, or even some rapair points.

Happens something similar with people doing the pustula challenges, if I see they're on last hook and the still dont have their challenge, I let them get It before I kill them.

Thank-you... it took me 12 freakin' games to get Laurie Strode done, and it was a killer who knew I was doing my adept. If it wasn't for him, I would probably still be trying. Object players get tunneled.

  • The unpopular answer... you can't.

Take 3 killer mains, roughly the same hours... same killer, perks, add-ons, and map. Have them go against the same 4 survivors who keep the perks and add-ons the same.

There will be 3 different play styles and outcomes. You can't balance human behaviour in a game.

One solution, only allowing 2 perks from another character. It would clean up a lot of meta combos. At least it gives all the players the same amount of info... what they are up against, and what perks they are probably running.

  • Right?!? I am trying to decide if this is a joke, or a serious thing. So many questions...

  • The doctor's noises are like nails on a chalkboard to me. I would always take my headset off. Since running calm spirit every match, I have had incredible success against the doctor.

It is almost as though when killers use the doctor, they heavily depend on his tracking instead of taking the 12 extra steps to check an area. Clown is the same. Throw a bottle to check for a reaction... no reaction, no area check.

  • @Teacyn said:

It's definitely the best of the Haste exhaustion perks (not counting adrenaline, since it's very different), but I think that more comes down to the others sucking. Lithe is alright since it gives you more control, but SB is still generally a lot better since you can activate it at any time. Balanced Landing just sucks. It's literally useless on a not-insignificant number of maps, and is very situational on most maps that it does have usage on. Quite unfortunate.

I have ran them all... and balanced landing is quickly becoming my favourite. Mind gaming hills wastes the killers time. They have to commit to the hill, and you can drop and get your burst.

  • I have ran into the same Ghostface hacker twice now. First time there was aura reveal the whole match, and more recently mori's without offering or perks.

My friend messaged him after the aura reveal thing, and he claimed BBQ and Chili... but he also took a screenshot and there was no BBQ.

I won't get into the psychology of cheating... but people are missing something in their daily lives, when hacking and cheating are fun.

  • Spies, BBQ, I'm all ears, and NOED. This person also has some crazy stats.

54 days played... with 53 escapes, and 207 kills.

  • @2LuvRias said:

Nah friend, the Killer either had Devour or Rancor. (If you aren't the obsession I'm not sure if there's a way to know the Killer has Rancor, unless if they find you right as a gen pops...)

I just looked at the match screenshot. No perks that would allow for a mori.

If the game was more balanced the game would have lasted longer offering more blood points to both survivors and the killer, game is survivor sided and its hurts both sides equally. Survivors suffer from loss of points and a generally boring experience with how easy it gets with perks or swf ( especially if combined ).

If you want to get more points call for a more balanced game so both sides earn points and actually enjoy playing the game.

Unless you're in a game with competent survivors. If each survivor can manage to do a gen, a save, a chase, and some heals... in red ranks it is a de-pip.

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

It’s so they can get him nerfed (or “changed”, as the devs like to call it) like they did Nurse. Freddy is just an M1 Killer with a teleport and some anti loop. I just respect what he can do and that usually works out for me. We really need to see stats that don’t take DCs and suicides into account. He might still be at the top, but his numbers most likely will not be anywhere near as high.

And game length... Freddy games take so bloody long. The longer survivors are stuck in a game, the better chance of kills.

A 2k can only become a 4k if all survivors are suuuuuper alteristic. And then its their fault.

Unfortunately, the way the ranking system works, some ranks have no choice but to go in and save. If I am going to de-pip for escaping... I may as well go in for the saves.

I have been part of some pretty amazing end game saves, without the pressure of the ECG, we had more time.

  • @Bullettimegod said:

Eh. I always open the exit gate. I feel like 99ing a gate is a boring cheap tactic with no risk. Least with egc it forces other survs to help make moves.

Yes and no. If you have a survivor slugged and 1 going to hook... 99% allows for some strategy... takes the EGC pressure off. It can drastically backfire. A 2k can quickly become a 4k.

I'm on the NA west coast and I get instant survivor times till about 6pm, then it switches and I get instant killer queues. In both cases the other is usually a 5 minute wait till about 430 when you can feel the changing of the guard.

Naturally I'm not asking where exactly you live but what timezone are you abouts if you are comfortable with that. Super curious if it lines up.

NA west coast too... and my survivor matches are pretty instant until about 3pm.

  • If there is going to be a cop... there is only one.... FARVA

  • From my experience, really good killers don't tunnel and camp. Killers on the verge of changing colours (purple to red, etc) or losing rank tend to camp, tunnel, and mori... a lot.

Rank reset, this month, will be interesting. I have noticed a shift in survivor play, going in for 2 or 3 man saves against a camper has become a thing.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Playing better than my opponent/s. The game is supposed to use pips, but that's the most broken system ever. Some people use kills, but that's not a good measurement: you didn't exactly lose agaisnt a full meta team on Haddonfield, and you didn't exact win against a bunch of yellow ranks on Dead Dawg. Some people use personal escapes, but it's a team-based game so that doesn't even make sense. And lastly, some people sue Bloodpoints. I have yet to see the algorithm for comparing survivor bloodpoints to killer bloodpoints in a fair and accurate fashion.

So, I just figure if I run the killer so well they facecamp and tunnel me then I won.

Using pips is horrible. In the higher ranks where everyone does 1 full gen, each get a hook rescue and heal, run the killer, and escape... you'll still take a -1.

Happens quite frequently, especially if your on a balanced team. Walked out of a game last night with 17k bloodpoints (escaped) and took a -1. Everyone did their part and played smart.

As someone who plays both sides, All of this info is freely known by SWF

the key is to bridge solo and swfs

Balancing swf with solo q will never happen. Even if you took comms out of the equation, people will instinctively help someone they know and can tolerate. You can't base kit balance that.

As an example... I play solo, but run into the same survivor(s) multiple times a session. We all play solo, but can coordinate and play like a swf. We don't need comms to be effective.

We need a better ranking system, not base kit add-ons.

  • @BigTimeGamer said:

    Make BBQ and Kindred baseline

Add UI indicators to the HUD, always a chase icon/doing a gen/healing/number of times hooked

ya know, QOL things you would expect in most games

As a survivor main... I disagree with all of these. I rarely play swf lately, had to re-learn to play a solo style of game.

Information perks should not be base kit. Sorry, but you're going to have to give up a perk slot.

If any perk should be a base kit... the concept of borrowed time would be a really good place to start. Borrowed time only works in the terror radius, encouraging unsafe hooks. Knowing as a solo q'er, that a borrowed time will activate without horrid save options... people will make better choices.

English is my first language, and I am fluent in French and Spanish. I see simple sentence structure errors in ESL people. They can proof read, but in their native language the structure is right... english is just bass ackwards.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Well said. I feel this is what happens when you lower the standards. Years ago it was actually harder to rank up and there weren't as many tools at your disposal. I really feel the ruin rework literally opened the gates for the newbs to get to red ranks. When ruin forced you to hit great skill checks that at least stopped people from repairing gens unhindered while the killer was busy somewhere else. Now people can rank up without even running into the killer. Before the emblem system, red rank gave a mote of assurance that person has an idea of how to play. Now rank means literally nothing. It's hard to distinguish who is actually skilled when they let everyone in.

I run into the same people a lot. 1 guy is now a rank 1... but he is horrible in chases. He is a stealthy gen jockey.

I love having him in my games, he is always working on gens, doesn't play toxic, and will come for saves and heal (run kindred people)... except he is downed in 2.2 seconds. An asset 90% of the time... a huge liability 10%.

  • Survivor

    Red rank/ North America/ xbox

They DO leave. THey just immeditely come back to the hook as soon as the unhook happens and find the injured person because it is easy to find someone that is injured. You ask why they tunnel in end game chat and you get an answer "Why would I chase the healthy person instead of the innjured one?" And this why they should lose some pip points if they do this.

I recently started running kindred... killers who tunnel off hook are always within those 16m. They might pop out for a few moments, but are never far. They are giving zero map pressure.

I was in a start of game chase with a rank 4 Freddy, he followed me all across the map... got me hooked in the basement, snared the crap out of the area, proxy camped (I was saved the last second), and then complained that he was gen rushed, and he didn't camp... even though everyone could see his aura.

  • When you're running the killer from 1 tile to the next... only to discover your team mate is camping the flippin' pallet in your new tile.

Oh heyyyy... thanks for blocking my path, and giving the killer a free hit.

  • Killers complain about gen rushing, yet here some of them are saying they tunnel off hook (proxy camping). You can't complain about survivors finishing objectives, when you won't leave the 16m kindred radius.

You're literally giving zero map pressure; a free pass to work on gens.

We got 3 gens done trading hooks and agro. But #########!

Shout out to Freddy for playing hard but fair!

I was solo... it was not fun. But this seems to be an okay strategy these days.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/208224/full-swf-bully-squad-streamers

People can play the game however they want. I watch survivors because I play survivor and I want to learn. I'm not watching because I want to see killers humiliated. I think you might be projecting your own feelings here. Maybe take a break from the game and these toxic streamers if it's such a problem.

Also, I see far more survivor streamers give free hooks and kills to killers than I ever see killers give free escapes to survivors they go against.

And this is where the problem starts. Telling the people who don't enjoy that bullying play style to "take a break"... will rid your player base of decent people. Pretty soon your entire player base is made up of toxic behaviors.

Maybe DBD needs to have a competitive mode and a casual mode. You have to earn your right to get to competitive... and you can't go back to casual.

  • @Clevite said:

I can agree that something is happening in solo que.

My last couple days my teammates have been completely gen phobic hook rushing fools.

And can we address the fact that we are on a team. Solo does not me you play for yourself. We are still a team. You may day, but die trying to help the team.

Damn this solo que pergotory. Few more pips and ill reach my goal and can go back to swfing.

    Just. A. Few. More.

Solo que is horrid right now. My last 2 games were with a duo de-pip squad... left myself and my team mate with 5 gens. I am regretting buying the rift at this point. Putting in the time is becoming... well... unenjoyable.

  • @Yords said:

Because you are most likely ruining everyone's fun just for not getting your way.

So when the killer slugs, tunnels, and camps... that isn't considered ruining someone's fun? It kinda feels like people are really saying

"I truly don't care about your experience, just don't ruin mine."

Someone DCing, in terms of game play, is no different then the useless Blendette in the corner, who won't engage in chases, saves, and takes 8 minutes to finish 1 gen.

  • Everyone keeps saying "DC'ing ruins the game for 4 other people", yet no one is addressing the issue(s) that may have caused the DC.

The other players are all entitled to fun, but the person who felt they needed to DC isn't?

Yes, some people are chronics. Others may have finally just reached the tipping point. I know I did. The whole system got shut down and I went and organized Christmas lights.

  • @GreyBigfoot said:

I use Spine Chill as my survivor crutch. Without that perk I feel naked, I should learn to play without it but I can't it's like an addictive drug.

I used to be the same way with DS but luckily, I got used to playing without it and no longer need it.

I was also a spine chill addict. I gave it up. Took a while to learn to really pay attention to the background. Highly suggest taking the plunge. Plan your escape or route before you hit a gen. Find your loop. Spine chill kinda lets you rely on stealth.

And I play a pretty chill survivor. Absolutely zero toxic behavior... not really my thing. I don't run any meta perks, and try not to make dumb saves. A little overly altruistic, will sacrifice my escape for someone who I feel had a better game. I really don't care if I escape.

I get the frustration, but it's a two sided coin.

It sounds like you (and your team?) were frustrating that killer by outplaying him. He has no control over matchmaking, so he took out his frustration and camped/tunnel/slug you.

The difference here is the killer didn't dc while he was being outplayed, but you did.

    Survivors frustrate killers.

    Killers frustrate survivors.

    Nope, was playing solo.

It isn't a 2 sided coin. I went into the match not knowing I was up against the exact same killer. Survivors don't have access to that information until after the match. It wasn't until I was bleeding out on the ground, after being tunneled off hook, that I said "eff this". Had the killer hooked me, I wouldn't have DC'd... but they decided to leave me on the ground and proxy camp.

It reminded me of a toddler taking their ball and going home.

  • @keygun said:

    Alot of interesting views here.

I see dirty tactics (camp, tunnel, slug) in a different way.

If the killer does these things, it means the killer is more afraid of survivors than visa versa.

It's flattering to me, not fun, but still flattering.

It means I scared the killer, even tho he has the weapons.

Also, the killer ain't here to make friends, so there is no "fair play"

He's literally trying to kill you, how he does it is irrelevant.

You're trying to survive, ds,bt, meta, non-meta... irrelevant. How you try to survive is up to you.

I've been camped, tunneled, and slugged so much these past few days... for the first time ever, I DC'd.

Sure, it is flattering that the killer has played against me 3x prior that day and knew I could out play them... so they did their job and got me out. Problem is, you can't counter a killer who can see who you are, but you can't see who they are. If a killer wants you dead, you're dead. They will camp, tunnel, and slug.

  • @CorneliusCloud said:

I play killer at rank 1 and im very confused by the player skill. Match after match rank 1-4 players just throw the game and drop their items in front of me or give me the pointy finger to leave them alone. I also read a lot of names like "Don't kill me" or "Please no chase". Or maybe if they don't give up i just kill everyone. And then i got matches against players who just roll over me, the gens pop everywhere and i can barely get enough hooks before the gates are open. The randomness of this game is just frustrating because u never know what ur up against.

The games where gens fly by are not necceserely SWF groups. Sometimes it's just randoms who are very effective. But then i don't understand how all the others made their rank. There seems to be a huge skill gap even among red ranks.

People get to red ranks by playing a stealth game. They crouch walk, hide, and make a beeline for a bush when the killer is near. They are also very altruistic. The problem is... they can't loop. If you get 3 or 4 of them in a game, it is going to be a disaster. They have heavily relied on someone else to do the hard part; keep the killer occupied.

People need to be encouraged to find more balance in their game play. Learn, through hours of failure, how to run the killer.... except they will probably lose that precious rank.

  • @Exellen said:

Usually when next rift level is unlocked for players, killer toxicity increases by 10x (from solo survivor perspective). 5 games today 4 ebony moris 2 spirits 2 nurses and one bubba, also chance to escape is tremendoulsy decreased because people trying to complete archives and don't do gens at all. If you wanna play normal matches you need to wait few days untill people complete rift and chill out a bit

This... and rank reset. People just turn into possessed demons seeking that new rank colour. The 13th of every month is mori day. If you don't run 2nd chance perks, it is also tunnel day... I don't run 2nd chance perks, so I don't play for a few days.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

I mean, dunno when the last time you were in rank 16+ but new killers have absolute control over new survivors. I had to restart when I started on PC and it was the dullest experience of my life as the survivors have no good perks. Don't know what looping is. And actively hide over doing gens.

And wow the SWF boogyman myth is spreading further. Now people are purchasing new copies of the game just to troll? Nan. Don't think so. Never saw it and that sounds absurd.

I can confirm... have had many matches as a new killer, I just do challenges, and there is a lot of smurf squads. People message after the match telling me their red rank profile name, like it's some bragging right.

Do not post stuff online if you cannot handle some people disagreeing with you or saying something you don't like. That is always going to happen.

Not surprising because we have normalized this behaviour. We can say whatever we want because we are all hiding behind a screen and keyboard.

I don’t know anything about validating or what you are saying. I am saying that you don’t have to let people get to you like this; which is a sign of thick skin.

So people need to bottle their emotions, because it is perceived as a weakness? You don't know other people's life experiences, so you don't have a right to tell them to toughen up.

If you wouldn't tell your Mom or sister to toughen up in a similar situation, don't say it to a random stranger.

The phrase "thicken your skin", is an attempt to invalidate someone's emotional response to a situation. We never have the right to do that. Everyone has the right to their feelings... just because it may not bother you, it doesn't make your response the correct one.

Greenhorn, I am sorry to hear you have reached your quitting point. I hope you can find a game and/or community that you feel isn't so toxic.

  • I love playing against Freddy.

Get comfortable playing in dream land. Make his biggest strength, your strength. If you're always aware of where he is, and have your escape plan in order, he is pretty easy to beat.

All I’m certain of is something isn’t quite right lately.

I was just talking about this with some other players. There has been more than one occasion where things felt off. It isn't a one off, it is too the point people are starting to notice.

You are not alone, other console players are finding the same thing.

  • Happens a lot. Pallets are super buggy. I love pulling it down, stunning the killer, then be transported to the killers side. I don't even bother trying to stun the killer anymore.

Purely anecdotal, but killers lunging seem to get priority over a pallet pull.

My friend who I tried to get to play DbD had the exact same experience. He first tried survivor, and ended up matched up with 2 rank 1's, a rank 18 which clearly was the SWF smurf, and then him at rank 20, with a rank 20 killer. With him being brand new to the game, I tried to explain a few things for him, and I started noticing while watching him play something was off. These 'new' players were looping way too well and the killer was just constantly being looped around the exact same spot over and over. What also gave it away was the fact they knew exactly where to loop and where pallets were. When my friend got caught the other 3 decided to come over and t-bag and point at him, and left him to die on hook. When he played killer, which I said would most likely be stressful at first, but you shouldn't have too much trouble, a full SWF smurf squad that made it pretty well known that they were there to bully. They intentionally downed themselves so the other 3 could flashlight at every angle, and since he didn't know to look at a wall, he was helpless. I had to take over for him since I'm a red rank killer myself, but it's absolutly disgusting that people think they're funny pushing players away from the game. He didn't go back to the game after that experience, and I don't blame him.

I really feel bad for new players. Nothing like playing against 18s who are running DS, UB, BT, and some other perk.

If we want to find balance in the game, maybe we have to start earning the right to use perks that belong to other characters. You want to play as Nea or the Wraith? You have to use at least 2 of their perks. You ranked up, now you can use 1, you finally hit red rank... the world is your oyster.

  • New killer, played 1 game and turned it off. Want me to get better, or invest more time? Stop putting my level 18 killer in with a boosted level 2, and a smurf 16, and smurf 18. They actually admitted it after the game. They were playing on new accounts to lay a whooping on new killers.

Thankfully I am a red rank survivor and figured these a-holes out within a few minutes. Managed 6 hooks. But going up against that crap just sucks. I really feel bad for new players.

1 2 3
