Bit of a rant but here it is.
For the record I know what grinding it out in a game is. I have a degree in World of Warcraft alright?
I am just getting close to 200 hours into this game. I haven't even played this game for a year yet. For those of you who don't know the average college course is 9 hours a week. Or worth 3 credit hours. 1 full time college course is around 135 hours in a semester. For those of you who understand what a full work week of 40 hours with a spouse and two kids can be. Trying to fit a whole college course and more while doing all these other things can be hard to do.
My point is I have 200 hours into this game and I don't even have the survivor or killer build I want yet on the characters of my choosing. At this rate it might take me another month or so. And when I recommend this game to someone I'll say, "It's really fun... but it'll take you months just to get where you want to be in the game. I'm not saying don't enjoy the journey on the way to your destination. But real life is enough of a grind as it is. And the game is challenging enough as it is. Overall I think there are so many useless perks in the blood web I just want the ones I need.
I don't have the time I used to when I was younger... If anyone has any tips please throw them at me. I love this game and want to be good at it.
I have a Masters degree and the average college course is NOT nine hours a week. 3 hrs class time and 6 hrs homework? Not accurate at all.
-
Spirit, because I wanna see people cry about me saying Spirit!
-
Yun-Jin while being carried. She sounds like she's trying to thrown up.
Steve getting hooked. The long, steady scream is irritating.
Wraith all the time. He sounds like he has phlegm to cough up. All. The. Time.

A really interesting question is how long do they have to be on the ground for their wiggle meter to be reset?
I didn't think it ever got reset.
-
Glad nobody here is in charge of things. Spirit is fine. If she's getting a 4k every match you play then you need more practice. I'm a Spirit main and the people that give me problems are the good loopers. Trouble with Spirit? Loop better and hope your teammates are working gens and bones.
-
450 hrs on the game. Rank 3 killer and I main Spirit and my main build is BBQ (for bloodpoints), Ruin-Undying (gen regression), and Thanatophobia. If I didn't care about bloodpoints, I'd drop the BBQ and run Tinkerer or something else to modify how I'd want to play that particular match. I always found Stridor to be unreliable, though it did help me determine the direction of a mid-distance survivor better than telling me when to unphase closer to a close-range survivor. (I use the alienware 7.1 gaming headset, so that's not the issue.)
Running a mother-daughter ring lets me absolutely FLY across the map and that helps with gen pressure. Obviously, you can't run that addon every trial, but it's the ideal one for me. You get tired of the same issues with SWF squads when I used every killer and I find that Spirit shuts down the good loopers better than any other killer. I still get run by good loopers, but not like when I'm playing other killers. If I do get post-game toxic talk it's when I'm playing other killers and didn't do well. The trash talk is way less when I'm the one in charge of the trial.
Long story short; I often feel powerless against high ranked 4-stacks using every killer in the game other than Spirit, and even though she isn't a guaranteed 4k like some on here are saying, it is fun feeling like I have control over the match. I even prestiged her to 3 and gave her the Greek armor skin. Love me some Spirit!
-
Do survivors stop working a gen in the middle to go find another gen? No? Tunnel and camp away, then.

Awesome. I've got Doctor on P3 but not Spirit. She stays on 50 for me.
Spirit is my main, as I'm rank 3 killer and have a hard time pipping with other killers. She gets the P3 and the greek armor skin. Love her.
-
First P3 was Doctor. Next came Spirit.
-
I know, right?
So much crying about Spirit standing still, like it takes MORE skill to hit Shift+w and teabag. If a Spirit is getting a 4k from standing still, you deserve to lose.

Spirit is not fine...
No information for the survivors is fine?
Stridor spirit with no counterplay is fine?
Okay...
Spirit is fine. Survivors have some information, not none. Stridor is a perk, counter it with a perk, Iron Will. Spirit is fine.

Pretty sure 99% of survivor players complaining about Spirit is a sign that she’s awful to play against. Most people on here enjoy Nurse, who is just as strong, as her chases are much more interesting. I’ve played Spirit quite a lot in the past, and she is a breeze to play, you are guaranteed multiple survivors dead every game, in the worst case scenario.
And they already did nerf the survivor second chance perks lol. DS was just nerfed, which is also a nerf to unbreakable. Not sure what other perks you feel are so badly in need of a nerf? Are you saying Iron Will, BT, Sprint Burst, Dead Hard need a nerf? They already are reliant on survivors using them well, or the killer making poor decisions in BT.
99% of survivor players complaining about Spirit? Where's your data? Most people enjoy Nurse? Where's your data? Spirit is a breeze to play? That's your opinion.
You have no data, you only have your emotions. This is the behavior of a snowflake. Snowflakes don't respond to reason and rational thought, so I'll stop now. Have a pleasant day.

It’s ‘fine’ that someone can do terrible on all but one killer, but 4k with that one because she doesn’t require an ounce of skill the play? It’s fine that she has no counter without Spine Chill?
Where's your data that this is the state of Spirit? Oh, there's no data other than your frustration? Rework Spirit when all the survivor second chance perks get nerfed.
-
Spirit doesn't need a re-work. She's fine.
-
She can't traverse most entire maps in one go with Mother/Daughter Ring. I main Spirit and that's just not true. She is definitely VERY fast in phase, but not entire map fast.
-
Spirit I run BBQ, Ruin, Undying, Stridor. Lots of fun. Looking at dropping one of those for Tinkerer after I level my Billy. Salty Survivors, here we come!!
-
I love both of Doc's Iri addons. Hearing the random screams from people going to unhook or help on a gen or go heal someone is really fun. It's nice because a lot of times I'll go against a team with one stealthy survivor who I don't usually see. The arc will get them a lot of times and start them on the madness tiers without me needing to hit them as long as a teammate gets close to them.
I also tend to only use it with Iri king but if you have a ton of them then there's plenty of fun to be had!

So in all my time of playing engame collapse has done something like 7 or 8 times, and only after rank reset because redranks just 99 the door and defeat the purpose of the endgame collapse. I really feel like it needs a change so that it can do what it was supposed to do, push the survivors out and force tough decisions. The only way I could think this would work is if you either made exit gates like totems that need to be completed in one go (which is way too powerful and could easily be abused by trapper) or to extend the endgame collapse time and make it start the minute the last generator is completed. I think the latter would make it better but it still feels like it could be abused. I feel it is just not accomplishing what its supposed to, and there has never been a time where it would have been strategically beneficial to open the gate myself as killer. so I just don't get why its basically pointless. What do you think?
Be careful. I suggested a change to EGC and got blasted because I haven't played long enough to remember when there was no EGC. I don't like the EGC in current form, but I'm not sure how to fix it either.

When I think of Devour Hope I get nice and giddy!

I'm a rank 3 killer and I'll run Stridor Spirit. It's not an auto 4k every match, and I'm not a terrible killer. It's harder if you're solo queueing, but not impossible. I still have my hands full with high ranked survivors. It's really a matter of skill I think.

The harpoon speed is the same of a fully charged Huntress hatchet. Just like Huntress, you don't exactly aim at the survivor, but you sort of flick where they are going to.
Ok, thank you. Gotta learn some flicking. I'll have to get a feel for that.
-
Looping. One reason I'm drawn to Doc, Clown and Spirit. I can't chase worth a dang and I lose track of people all the time.
-
What about Slinger's gun? It's not hitscan like some Overwatch characters is it? Do I need to be leading the survivor? Is that just something I need to get a feel for?

Deep Wounds used to work outside of a chase, but then people just exploited it to force a down. The current version is the only way to ensure that it can't be cheesed. Not that i agree that this is the best version of Deep Wounds, but it makes sense.
Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know it had been changed already. Surely there's a middle ground, though.
-
I'd be fine with that change. I like Legion a lot but he just isn't viable for me right now.
-
If by "Brawl" you mean "take out for a nice dinner" it would be Kate. I love her.
If by "Not Brawl" you mean "don't want to take out to a nice dinner" it would be Quentin. I want to drop-kick him in the face.
Thanks for asking!
-
Wow, excellent advice. I've actually never played with STBFL, so I'll need to check it out.

@ProfGameAndTalk Starstruck is actually a good idea, thanks! I've been wondering about trying new perks. I've become so frustrated that I'm even trying to get Franklin's Demise just b/c it might be therapeutic for me to see them all drop their flashlghts and tool kits.
@twocansofbean Atm, I'm playing Killers that I just kind of liked both in design and power. Maybe I should try Wraith. Thanks a lot for your comment. I'll check out your guide.
Franklin's is EXCELLENT! It's also another mini-goal to keep the survivors away from their items and you can have fun doing that wihout worrying about a 4k. Fun stuff!
-
Sitting on Rank 5, got to Rank 3 last week. I remember those days that you are talking about. I used killers that I enjoyed playing and went into a game thinking, "I'm not going to 4k, I'm just going to work on this one thing" as I would play, That way I didn't get tilted very easily and knew that I wouldn't get the 4k going into it. Like, I would work on chasing and determined that I would chase someone until I was actually on top of them and not lunging for a hit. Over time I learned maps and survivor tendencies and got better slowly. I used Doc since his natural power helped me find survivors before I knew the maps.
The sweat squads are still out there, but they aren't as bad because now when they swarm I can whack them and it hurts them more than helps. Plus, if you have DLC you can get Starstruck to keep them off of you.
Keep it up, you'll get there.

Are you a survivor or killer main? Or do you play both equally?
Are you a good sport?
Do you feel the need to max out all of your characters with all perks and prestige them?
Do you get tilted when playing this game?
Do you buy cosmetics?
I am a player who would be considered a good sport (most of the time at least) and who plays both sides equally. I myself feel the need to max out all of my characters and I can get very tilted when playing this game (but never take my anger out on anyone, I just say gg with tears in my eyes). I also don't really buy cosmetics because it is far more satisfying to earn them and don't feel like supporting BHVR, at least right now.
Killer main, Spirit, Doc, but play both sides, Kate is my gal!
Good sport until clicky-clicky teabaggers show themselves. Then all bets are off and all's fair.
The characters I play a lot I'll max out. I have P3 Kate, Doc, Spirit and working on Deathslinger, Clown, Bubba.
To my shame, I have been tilted before. It tends to happen when there is a combination of survivor antics (body blocking, teabagging, flashlights) and second chance perks. I just take a break and cool off then I'm good to go.
I've bought Doc (mechanical head and outfit), Spirit (Greek armor), and Kate (tight jeans and guitar top) cosmetics because those are my mains and I like them.
See you in the fog!
-
I get more grief when I use a killer I don't usually play trying to get a daily done and play poorly. Last night had to expose 4 people with Ghostface. Can't stand using Ghostface and don't play with him usually, but I had skipped a "open the exit gate with Jane" challenge trying to get a killer daily. Farmed my stalks and got the exposed survivors that I needed to against a SWF squad. The post game was insults and such at how bad I played. You just gotta laugh at the morons. I jumped on my Spirit and Doc after that and had plenty of fun!

I'm sorry to hear that. I understand, as a Survivor main who never tea bags, will never bring a key, and who only flashlights for Rift challenges and isn't spammy or obnoxious with it, it is really disheartening when people still choose to be rude or malicious. It's easier said than done to let it go and not take it to heart.
I hope you have some fun matches and nice experiences soon. Happy gaming! <3
I appreciate that. It's not every match that there are toxic survivors, but it seems when it is bad then it's REALLY bad. Oh well, on to the next match! GL in the fog!
-
I think I've had so many toxic experiences that it's VERY rare for me to give last survivor hatch, no matter the circumstances.

They don't get a lot of points. What you do is work on generators and get as far as you can unless you have BT.
Thank you. Camping only helps killers who want a 'win' and think that a win is getting a kill. Camping does NOT net them a ton of points unless every survivor comes to unhook and gets downed trying to get their altruism.

This is a separate topic that I've brought up a lot before as well. BT should be a HUD element so that we know if someone has it. Also, if a survivor is getting camped, they should get X amount of distraction points for every gen completed since they are technically distracting the killer as there is currently no incentive to stay in the game if you're being camped. However, camping killers isn't the topic here.

Yes. I do not want to be farmed. Why is that a hard concept? Why are people actually advocating for farming?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2166061#Comment_2166061
Enlighten me on how players are supposed to do that if they're farmed off the hook.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2166101#Comment_2166101
I ask then that you stop contributing to the problem. You can easily get hook saves without farming.
Nope, I will not stop farming hook saves. When I get a garbage daily to expose four people with Ghostface I'm going to hit the trashcan to get a new daily. When the new daily is to get three unhooks with Feng, I'm gonna get the three unhooks as fast as I can so I can go right back to my super-fine Kate skin.

A generic zombie that just groans. His speed is slower than Nurse and his power is a groan that makes the survivor say, "Hey, stop that. That's irritating!"

When I solo queue and teammates are potatoes I'll intentionally run the killer over to a teammate. That and slow down in front of the teammate who is behind me so the killer can get them. Hilarity for hours!!

"The Entity swiped left"
"The Entity ghosted you"
I like the way that you think! "The entity's lip turns up slightly in disgust." Where's the petition? Make it happen!

Gotta admit, as a solo queuer I'll make bad rescues just for dailies and such. Getting kicked away would stop me from doing that.

Throwing a hotdog at a survivor and hoping it hits their mouth, goes down their gullet and chokes them is better than Trickster.

I think this would change the overall gameplay enough to be an offering. I was saying this should become the norm.
I'm down. Where's the petition to sign?!
-
Maybe an offering? Who would use it, killers or survivors? Both?? That would be fun I think.
-
I'm rank 4 killer with Spirit and I still have plenty of issues going against people with Iron Will. Good loopers still do well because a Spirit isn't in a phase 100% of the time. I had the worst time going against a very good looper who was running Quick and Quiet, Distraction and Iron Will. He completely embarrassed me. It is possible to play well against Spirit.
-
I feel like I'm getting so many Ghostfaces. And as a colorblind player, it's murder playing against him on every outdoor map except Ormond.
-
Nurse.

When I see a Douchebag Steve my lip curls up in disgust. Curse you, Douchebag Steve!!!
