  • Run to the exit gate and see that those bars are wide enough for me to slip through. Deuces, suckas!!!!

  • I've started playing both sides and I've prestiged my Ash and gotten my cute Kate to 50. I have discovered how much I hate NOED as survivor, so I've started running Small Game to work totems. I still run it as killer, though. Getting tunneled and camped as survivor really blows, so I can honestly say that I've made an effort to not hook the same survivor twice in a row if there's another survivor right there I can go after. (But when your dumb-butt runs right in front of me, I'd be a moron not to take that.)

If I only stuck to killer I wouldn't have discovered how fun SWF can be.

Playing survivor is more chill and fun as an experience. Playing killer is more stressful and satisfying to win.

But you don't know the name of the Killer before the end of the match.

    You're right. I'm a moron.

  • I think the ranking system is weird, but I expect ranks 1-3 to be really good at the game. I can work gens all day and my buddy loops the survivor all day. We have lots of fun but black pip most of the time. Yes, that's on the killer for not breaking off the chase but we escape plenty of times and our rank doesn't go up. I'm not salty about that, there's more to the game than being one-dimensional and I think those high ranks do a bit of everything to get the BPs necessary to rise and stay there.

  • When you find a killer with TTV in their name, text them in their chat if they're live and ask them to let you get it. I think there are plenty out there that would be up to let you get it.

    I know I would.

  • Distressing. My terror radius gets huge AND I get bonus bloodpoints? Ok, I'll take that on my two mains: Doc and Spirit. Doc makes his static blast more potent on letting me know where survivors are lurking. Spirit makes her phasing more potent.

Oh, and Franklin's isn't considered a bad perk by any means but it definitely isn't in the meta, but I have so much fun pretending the survivors stole items from me and I'm getting them back. Makes me giggle. :)

I usually like smaller streamers as they're more interactive and sometimes more knowledgeable than even the biggest streamers out there.

Only streamer I currently watch is a small german streamer called "Smashen". He's streaming in english despite being german.

Really like that guy as he analyzes everything in a polite and objective way.

He mains survivor (more specifically Kate) but is also very good at pretty much every killer and usually plays viewer builds (for free).

Not only that but he also tries to analyze every build before the match and tries to get everything to work so watching him is really fun and interactive unlike bigger streamers who are mostly like watching a YouTube clip due to their bigger number of viewers.

That sounds really cool. I'm gonna check him out. Thanks for the tip!

  • You are more than welcome to come see my god-awful stream. (Shameless self-promotion.) I main killer but have recently started playing survivor as well. We have predictions regularly to earn bonus channel points, then you can use channel points to make loud noises during play that make me jump. (I startle easily.) I'm very small-time... like so small you'll say, "This dude is small-time!" But all are welcome and we have a good time. I stream almost every night starting about 8-9 Central Standard Time and go for a few hours.

That’s just how it is. You could look at it two ways, You could rage at your teammates being terrible or you could laugh at them being bad, and then rage when they sandbag you.

I do have to admit, slow vaulting a window with another survivor behind me as the killer smacks them makes me laugh... every time.

Survivors can run away when they want, the problem is how much time holding W can waste.

At a time when every survivor loves to cry out “Freddy takes no skill!” “Spirit takes no skill!” “Remove bloodlust!” Somehow nobody seems to notice the elephant in the room which is that just running forwards can take up so much of a killers time, drag them sof ar from the objective, and is sometimes more powerful than any actual looping or juking. Worse still are the maps that permit this and enable this style of gameplay. Lerys, Midwich, Hawkins, Mothers dwelling, most of the chases there is just the survivor holding forwards while the rest sit on gens. It takes no skill but hey spirit/freddy/bloodlust are the real problems.

As a killer I will say that those that run early are far more frustrating to play against than those that sit on gens until the last second. I don’t want to jump into PC vs console debate because I believe all players are equally good but I noticed this style of gameplay crept in with console users via crossplay and its really powerful lol but I was born and raised in the PC tryhard scene so I tend to sit on a gen until I can feel the killers breath on my neck. Yolo #allaboutdatgenrushlife

    Well said, thank you!

  • Cornfield is rough, Lery's is rough, Swamp is rough, Midwich is rough, and I must admit that I hate that effing preschool.

  • Thanks for the love! Spirits ftw!

Yeah, I think I'm done. No more free hatch escapes, no more farming when half the team dc's, no more resetting pallets in front of me for the stupid Yui challenge. I'll proxy, tunnel, slug till they bleed out, whatever it takes.

It's super hard to let the negativity roll of your back but here are two suggestions that seem kinda silly but might help

    1) When toxic players tilt you, take a game or few to meme with survivors. Like pick Ghostface and be the friendly teabagger who lets them drop pallets on you and crouches across the map with you. Or pick Pyramid head and draw messages on the ground with rites of judgement lmao That's usually the easiest way to get survivors to be nice, give you free hits, free hooks, and you can pretend for a sec that those survivors aren't the type to BM you like the rest

    2) If you're PC, give yourself a ridiculously positive name. I changed my steam ID to 'You Are Beautiful' and people actually seem to appreciate it and my after game toxicity seemed to drop lmfao

Oh my good Lord, this is great! Changing my name tonight to something so positive the rainbows and cupcakes are gonna insta-spawn!!! Thanks for the great idea!

What about the intrinsic value of knowing you ran a killer around for so long and making it a personal best record for yourself to beat in the future. I find putting a spin on negative things, makes the game more enjoyable, in my humble opinion.

That's cool. Do you stream? I wanna watch someone positive like this!

  • I main Doc and Spirit, after that I enjoy Nurse, Clown, Bubba, Legion and Hag. I do like to spread it out, but always seem to come back to Spirit and Doc.

  • I've prestiged the killers that I really enjoy playing with since I'm going to be playing with them regardless. Dropping all their perks and rebuilding them has helped me play with sub-par builds and it's a nice change of pace. I've got Doc and Spirit to P3, Clown and Bubba to P2, Hag and Nurse to P1. I'm not gaining anything material from doing it, it's just a neat thing for me to look at and say that I did it.

All this to say that there's only your preference that matters, you won't get anything material that you just can't live without.

  • I've no problem with Otz, he's a great player and I watch him a decent amount. I'm more of a Tru3ta1ent fan. I can watch Tru3 with my kids cause he doesn't swear as much. Otz is dropping f bombs all the time which is fine, I just don't want my kids repeating it! haha

Y'all are kinda crazy, I don't have problems playing against any Spirits, even the ones who run strider.

Thank you. I run Spirit and I'm wondering when all my 4k streaks are supposed to show up. I go for hooks and fluctuate between 0k and 4k DEPENDING ON THE SKILL OF THE SURVIVOR.

  • I DC'd last night after I had a clean yoink taken away for some reason (went into the yoink animation on a gen but then the survivor was back on the gen and I was dazed somehow) then I hit the survivor to injure and while I was wiping the blood animation, she finished the gen. I hit her again but she wasn't there, the knife hit the gen and she had DeadHarded away, like a rubber band to somewhere else. It was incredibly frustrating that a gen was finished and the survivor was running away when they should have been on hook and the gen should have been regressing. I was immensely frustrated with that little episode.

Why isn't spirit a serious threat to actual players that aren't potatoes then? She still gets gen rushed to the otherworld like everyone else excluding Nurse.

Thank you. This gal is on her box about Spirit and no amount of evidence is gonna change her mind. Spirit still gets run by good survivors who focus on gens and being unpredictable in chase.

Her learning curve is whether or not you have a headset. Oh, and also, if you think that spirit is hard because you don't have a headset, your opinion is invalid, because the majority of the playerbase does have one.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2011275#Comment_2011275

It is fact. Sorry, but if the majority of a large playerbase like this one agrees on an opinion, that opinion is fact.

You are describing what is called an 'argumentum ad populum' which states that if the majority believe it then it must be true. This is a fallacious argument. First, you have NO IDEA what the majority thinks so that is an invalid point. Maybe the majority of your friends or majority of people you choose to read about it share that opinion but that does not make it true. Facts are not created by majority opinion. Again, empirical evidence is necessary to establish fact and you continue to provide none. Instead you have brought some insane notion that since many people say it then it must be so. The absurdity of this should be evident. This is getting into groupthink territory and I need go no further than the spaceshuttle Challenger to demonstrate how harmful this mindset can be.

"Spirit is easy to play" is an opinion supported by no empirical evidence that I can find and insulting people because they don't agree with your opinion is the epitome of adolescent name calling. Come see me on stream and I'd be more than happy to continue the conversation... while I play Spirit. :)

Fair enough, I can't argue with that--s'why I prefer to chat face-to-face with folks I suppose, tone comes across immediately.

I'm told I speak with my whole body, so the lack of that's probably sweeping my proverbial legs out from under me here.

    Hm.

Well, thanks for any kind of feedback, really.

I find it inherently validating to speak with others, so getting a chance to improve is always nice.

Jesus, why, I still sound insincere. Well, you get my intention, I hope.

Face to face would most definitely be the preferred way to communicate for decent people, I agree. We do the best with what we can most of the times and sometimes things get toxic.... fast! I take full responsibility for my role in it all. I've been known to be thin-skinned, so lesson learned for me.

Actually, I'm a killer main. I main nurse. Spirit is one of the easiest killers. That isn't opinion, that's fact. I didn't mean to insult you, I was merely pointing out that your lack of experience clouds your judgement.

Facts are empirically supported. Your opinion is not. You have no empirical evidence besides your experience, which means you have an opinion that you are spouting as fact.

  • @Shoottokill_Shinsou said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2007217#Comment_2007217

There's two things that would make you say she's hard.

1.) You're new, and therefore at low ranks, where you don't have to be a good nurse to do well with her.

    2.) You don't have a good headset.

Spirits one of the easiest killers in the game. If you can't understand that, you're simply bad. No offense, that's just how it is.

Spirit is NOT one of the easiest killers in the game. If you think she is, then you're just a salty survivor main.

There. I said it on the internet so it's true, right?! Am I cool like you spouting my opinion as fact and insulting people that disagree?

I'm trying to discuss, and it legitimately hurts that apparently I'm just "too [BAD WORD] stupid to know anything"

Every time. Every time I try to have a discussion, I'm apparently just a dumbass with nothing to bring to the table. Cool.

Thanks for responding, I guess. I don't "win," because there was nothing to win in the first place.

Next time, counter my points instead of just folding over like a wet blanket, please--I don't do this for laughs.

On the internet it is difficult to determine tone so when someone goes out of their way to communicate condescension it comes across as... condescending. If you have issues (your own words) "Every time." you try to have a discussion then maybe there is an issue with how you communicate. On the internet you have to go out of your way to have tone interpreted whether you're being a jerk or being polite. Your post to me seemed clear that you were going out of your way to be condescending.

----So, uh, I hate to say that you're incorrect, but you're not exactly correct, so...?---

That's condescending and not coming from someone who is looking for intelligent discourse. If someone is wants to share ideas and grow from other people's perspectives then they phrase things differently than this. When someone comes at the discussion like this, the discussion ends. I won't continue to engage with this. I may be wrong to drop it the way I did and that's on me, but now you know my thought process.

I get that you're trying to get me to feel better about myself with a pep-talk, but you've failed right off the bat by assuming that I let other people dictate how I feel!

Spirit's pretty easy. Her movement's fantastic, her controls tight, I hate every moment.

She's cute as hell, as much as I hate to admit that (mostly because it sounds hella perverted) but I want to actually have to try in a match. She isn't fun to play, that's where the uncleanliness is coming from.

Thanks for trying to cheer me up by discarding the value of other human beings their opinions, though!

Wait, that sounds really hostile, my bad?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2008647#Comment_2008647

Actually, you can both hear and see them.

You can hear the sounds of their footsteps (as well as their panting while sprinting)

and see the wake of their path (be that in corn, grass, snow, etc.)

So, uh, I hate to say that you're incorrect, but you're not exactly correct, so...?

Also, I get that Iron Will is a great perk, really, I do--but bringing a perk isn't counterplay, it's countering a kit. There is a difference, I promise.

Ugh, ok. Have a nice day wherever you are, because I don't think we are playing the same game. It appears that you are spouting nonsense to get a response and it looks like you win, cause I responded. It would take too long to counter what you said, so enjoy your visions. Afternoon med-pass is at 3.

I know that Camping and tunneling are considered as a legit strategy, and i understand it when it is during the end game (2 generators left and beyond) but when the killer is camping and tunneling from the start of the trial, it's not fair for the survivor that is harassed by such a behavior and for the other survivors that will have to gen rush.

What are the results of those games ? There are 2 solutions :

    • The other survivors are super friendly and altruists

They will try to save the camped/tunneled survivor, they won't do gens fast enough to do so and the killer will earn ton of points and will win the trial.

    • The other survivors gen rush while the camped one stay on the hook as long as possible

They will succeed to do all gens and to escape. Killer will get 1k. Problem is the camped survivor trial is ruined; the other survivors won't get much point, they might Depipe cause they did nothing but gen rush and the killer migh still have enough point to save pipe if the first survivor gave him a good chase and if after the 1st hooked surv died the killer got some more points chasing the survivors left.

For the survivors, in both cases they are punished whiled it is the killer's fault if the trial was terrible and not fun to play.

For the killer, it won't be a big deal. So when is the killer punished for such behavior ?

Honestly, in EU red ranks, there are ton and ton of killers camping and tunneling, it's been a plague for years now and they continue to do so. Why ? Because there is no punishment. A killer playing like this should de-pipe 100% of the time to green rank. How is it possible to have 70% of red rank killers playing like this ?

I'm pissed that developpers didn't adress this issue. I'm doing ok soloQing, but most of the time a survivor is tunneled and camped in the trials i play...

You should really look into this issue cause there is a survivor suiciding on hook 1 game out of 2 atm...

    "It's not fair"

That says it all right there. I had to get better playing against red rank bully squads among other things. Use those game as an opportunity to get better.

  • @DoomedMind said:

She just needs somewhat of a feedback during the chase. Whatever it is, it has to be shown if the Spirit is phasing. Her power is fine, because she's 110%, it has to be strong enough. The problem is that survivors have to make decisions based on nothing.

Imagine Nurse that wouldn't make any sound when charging a blink, without rising her hand, but suddenly she's in front of you, and you take the hit. It would be unfair, and imo, it's the current state of the Spirit. "Just guess" to counter, aka "just make anything random and pray Spirit makes mistakes".

I honestly don't understand this logic. Spirit can't see the survivor when she is phasing. She also can't hear the survivor if they aren't injured or if they're running Iron Will. Have you played with Spirit and gotten 4ks right off the bat? I'm 200 hrs into the game and a rank 4 Spirit and I still get run by good survivors. I'm honestly not trying to insult you or other survivors, but every time I see a 'nerf this or that killer' post it all devolves down to them not wanting to get better at playing against the killer, just wanting the game to be easier.

I've worked at getting better with Spirit, making reads and learning loops, discovering consistencies with how survivors try to exit certain tiles. Go watch some vids on how to play against Spirit and RUN IRON WILL!

Survivors say it takes no skill but remember these are the people that will hold W through and around badham school, drop a god pallet, hold w, drop a god pallet, hold w, vault a god window, hold W, vault a god window, hold w and then they'll be like "I looped you bro 😎" as if your m1 killer could do anything about it. The funny thing is when you reciprocate the bad manners then you get called the ass hole 😂

Absolutely. I was running Whispers, Franklin's, Nurse's and NOSHAME NOED. Yeah, I'm a rank 4 killer and I run NOED. And you know what? I LOVE IT!!!!

  • Do your thing, pal, and don't let the salt get you down. I had a SWF squad last night unhooking right in front of me and sliding back at me after a pallet stun. It was satisfying to slug them all and watch them DC as I wandered back and forth between them. I don't slug like that unless I'm getting BM from them, and it is very satisfying.

  • So glad this isn't just me. Happens on gens regularly and happened on a locker last night. Went into the grab animation only to cut back to me just standing there and the survivor was on the other side of the wall by the time I had control again.

  • Their fault for letting themselves get 4-man slugged. You did fine.

  • Yeah, we killers are a sensitive lot. Perhaps it was how we were raised, I'm not sure.

  • Thanks! I like to think I've worked hard to get my Spirit up to snuff!

When I play my fun killers (Doc, Legion, Clown) at high ranks I don't usually do well, but can actually black pip and even pip sometimes running Spirit, so thanks for the props!

  • I don't get the argument of "Trickster shouldn't be in DbD because he isn't horror." But teabagging survivors are? Ummm... ok...
