I'm a killer. I'm a scary-ass killer. I make people hide to avoid me. I chase you with my weapon that keeps you awake at night. I'm serious about my craft. I'm going to hook your ass and then your friend and then their friend and then the last one. I'm unbeatable. I'm going to find you all. I'm going to find... where are the damn survivors? Where are they? I've kicked two gens as I've circled this effing map twice now. I know they're here. I haven't seen any auras so I don't think they have OoO. I wish I could find (SMACK!!!!) WHERE DID THAT EFFING PALLET COME FROM?!?!!?! HOLY SHID I JUST SHID MY PANTS!! HOW DID YOU EFFING GET RIGHT THERE AND DROP A DAMN PALLET ON ME??? I"M THE KILLER!!! I'M THE SCARY ONE!!! TUNNEL TUNNEL TUNNEL TUNNEL TUNNEL TUNNEL, stop running you stupid Nancy (or douchebag Steve, or Meg or Elodie).
The instant, unaware pallet stun makes me pee a little. Thank you for your time.

Everyone can use her. I'm on ps4, consistently rank 1, and I beat every team I go against.

Orrr, Bubba's could stop camping the hook with noed and expecting a 4k. Never happening. This is a well deserved change. If your gonna face camp hook cause your a walking one shot, i'm gonna propose an idea that's going to MAKE you try. Either we remove noed and force killers to not play a crutch perk or we rework his one shot move that only takes a tap of a button to use.
There's no git gud option if no one can save or you take you off the hook. It's detrimental to everyone because the killer learns its horrible strat buts keeps doing it and the survivors are forced to take an L because the bubba couldnt stand to chase people like any other decent killer.
Dont dwell in the basement with insidious, dont face camp, dont use noed and, dont spam the chainsaw; easy, right?
Don't use two perks that work as intended, don't use a strategy you don't like to get a kill, don't use your own killer power. Are you hearing yourself? (for the record, Insidious is a cheap perk and I would totally DC against a bubba that insidious camps.)
Get better at looping. I'm only 150 hrs into the game and a great looper is the HARDEST thing for me to go against. They don't need to be nerfed, I need to get better.
-
@SaltyNooty said:
I recently started playing my Claudette to get her perks on my bloodweb and also try to main her. Least to say, my first interaction with my Claudette was a face camping noted Bubba. Thankfully, I was never downed but he QUITE LITERALLY stared at my teammates for hours on end until the Quit on the hook, that being they just sushicided. I ended up escaping via the exit gates and rightfully so.
Bubba needs a rework with his chain saw and I propose that we remove the "Lol, no." Chain-saw tactic. Meaning, whenever he uses Hus chainsaw, he doesn't instantly down people, instead they either get the ddeep wound status or the injuries status. I also propose we nerf his speed whenever he's using the chainsaw so Bloodlust+ any add on makes it easier to close distance and down them again.
Or the simplest option could be to remove noed completely or implement a design that literally makes the killer go away. Like the entity won't show up if your terror radius is near them; same thing for stealth killers and insidious won't bypass it either. Or another idea is that it literally gives takes away their bloodpoints for camping thus inciting the idea that camping = no rank, no blood points or no sacrifice.
So you're saying Bubba should be Legion WITHOUT the speed increase?

Thank you :) I love the rock version of the DBD song as Trapper, and the Clown version is great too! That's the next killer I'm levelling.
That's cool. I'm 140 hrs into the game and Doc was the first killer I leveled. Loved shocking a laughing and all that. Then moved to Spirit and Bubba and now I'm practicing Nurse. The mental reward for hitting your blinks is SOOOO satisfying that I'm gutting it out and working with her through all the 0k matches and I actually got my first 4k with her last night on Deathslinger's map. I'm rank 8 killer and loving it!

Welcome to the dark side. It's fun over here on Killer St. !
-
I played as Spirit.
-
Sabotage a hook right in front of me and you bet I'm gonna slug that survivor. Makes no sense to let them wiggle free just because you don't think it's fun to crawl for a bit. Killers are trying to win, too.

Okay that is soon. Thanks for the information. I find it funny how the devs are secretive...couldn't even tell us about a supposed colorblind mode and now a lot of players don't even trust them when they said it was already in the works.
(My inner radar pings.)
Did someone say 'colorblind mode'? Yes, please!!!
-
I'm 130 hrs into the game and I run NO SHAME NOED. I also consider it a given that there will be an EGC and I will have survivors trying to escape at the end. As I have gotten better, there are some builds on Spirit where I don't run NOED. I'll use it less as I get better at the game.
But I'm not there yet!
-
The highs of this game are incredibly high for me, as when I'm being challenged as a killer and play well I feel great about my ability.
The lows of this game are lower than any other game I've played. Last night when a Bill body-blocked me from getting a hook on his buddy during the EGC and they both ran off and teabagged at the gate I felt genuine anger towards him and had to stop playing after that game and call it a night.
The fun factor in this game is so incredibly high. When it's fun it is REALLY fun. When the game is toxic and negative and you are incredibly outmatched due to the matchmaking (like I was against those THREE identical Bills in that match) it is tough to take. I do find myself having different experiences when I'm being silly with a killer I don't like or run (Huntress, Billy, Trapper) and trying to get a challenge done vs trying to play well vs a team that is better than me and makes me look foolish.
That's why I play, when the game is fun it is REALLY fun.

It could of just be how I worded it, based on my own experiences in the role of both Killer and Survivor- I've faced a lot of Killers that will tunnel a Survivor out of the game purely because they do something they don't like (Like playing stealthy, playing Claudette, having spawned on Ruin/Devour, etc.).
I also usually don't count someone as having tunneled if they get a hook imbetween the person getting downed and such- because at that point it's a matter of both luck and your teammates being willing to pull aggro- so I guess that's why I tend to see real tunneling as much more of an 'anti-survivor' deal. In my experience as Killer, if I tunnel it's because I don't want to deal with that Survivor anymore or because their teammates screwed them. (AKA: Unhooking in my face, disappearing after the unhook, not pulling aggro, etc.)
I should also note that I don't really count what you're describing in your reply as tunneling. To me, that's just playing the game. As Killer, getting through weaker chases is how you win. If the person just gets unlucky and you keep running into them and downing them when you give them good time to recover is a lot different then dropping everything you're doing to return to hook and focusing on nothing but the person you just unhooked. (At least, that's kinda how I interpreted it.)
I agree that there can be toxic tunneling and strategic play where the same survivor can get hooked in quick succession. It seems the survivors in post chat don't see much of a difference though. I appreciate the response. Thanks for the back and forth!
-
@unluckycombo said:
To elaborate on Frosty a little bit too, it takes a really coordinated SWF to do a genrush the killer can genuinely do nothing about. Your average SWF- and especially your average game against solos- generally don't have the coordination needed to pull off that extreme level of genrush, and will do other objectives, so it just comes down to needing to understand how to make chases shorter as killer, and when to leave chases.
On the flipside, in my experience as killer, there's very few times where tunneling isn't deliberate. Sure, sometimes you'll come back to the hook and run into the guy that just got off with the unhooker nowhere to be seen, or a teammate will farm- but at least in my experience, most of the time someone gets tunneled because the killer made the conscious decision that the person they decided to tunnel isn't allowed to play anymore, and gets to leave with 6k points to go back to queue.
(I also just want to point out the fact that while losing early gens can be daunting for killer, making it seem like the gens were rushed early, most killers definitely get stronger as more gens are done because there's less places for the Survivors to do objectives, forcing them closer together for easy pressure.)
Good points, thank you for the post. I think it's interesting that you say most tunnels for you are due to a deliberate anti-survivor mentality (at least that's how I interpreted it). When I tunnel I think my thought process is more along the lines of, "Here is the easiest down and hook I can get right now." Their game experience doesn't factor into my thinking. Maybe it is an issue of semantics, but intent seems to be different. Thanks again!
-
@Yords said:
It is not because they are both dealing with the objectives.
Tunneling = killing survivors = the killers objective
"gen rushing" = survivors doing generators = the survivors' objective
See, I feel the same way, but tunneling is grouped with camping as toxic killer behavior and I just don't get that argument. Thanks!
-
@FrostySeal said:
Difference is that "gen rushing" doesn't really exist, unless we're talking about something like Marths depip squad. If your playing killer and multiple gens are getting down really quickly, your just not putting enough pressure on the survivors. I main blight and use pop + corrupt + tinkerer with him and I havent had game where I was like "Damn I was completely powerless to stop the survivors and they actually gen rushed me."
Ok, that makes sense. Thank you. I do notice that I need to pull off the chase when I feel the survivor is toying with me. Perhaps I need to pull off the chase sooner.

Honestly, I find it rather hard to pinpoint survivors based on noise despite having a good Sennheiser headset.
Maybe there's a way for me to make the volume louder, or maybe there's a trick to pinpointing survivors. I don't know.
So I would say Spirit is pretty hard to play. But that's only because tracking survivors doesn't come easy to me.

How can anyone respect this?
It is based entirely on the skill level of the survivor side.
I can respect it because I've played Nurse and even if the survivors are potatoes you have to hit your blinks. Blinking across the map like that takes skill. That's all.

I'm a lvl 8 killer and 122 hrs into the game, I'm also color blind and rely on sound more than anything. I run lvl 3 stridor but am not yet proficient with it as I hear something and unphase yet the aurvivor is farther away than I thought. Even with that, I don't rack up the 4k's. When I play against survivors that take off of the gen as soon as they hear my TR I struggle to find them. I spend more time looking for survivors than anything else and gens on the other side of the map are getting done while I'm looking. I tend to run Corrupt Intervention, Sloppy, Stridor and NoShame NOED until I get Nurse's calling, then I'll swap out NOED for that.
I really don't understand the mindset that says "this one killer has this one really strong power and I don't like it so it should be nerfed". I effing hate OoO but I'm not gonna blast someone for using it, I'll just try to tunnel the hell out of that player until I can get rid of it. And while I try to tunnel that obsession, gens are getting done. There are plenty of options instead of "nerf this thing I don't like".

I'm not a horror movie fan, and it is VERY ironic that I've fallen in love with DbD, as a killer no less! I've heard of Jason but I'm not familiar with what all he does. This is brilliant. I'm totally stealing this idea.
-
I get the feeling that survivors get really upset when a killer realizes that 1v3 is much better for them than 1v4. There are multiple legit reasons to tunnel, not all of them are bad manners. I had a challenge to kill the obsession with my hands while running Rancor. I equipped a Mori and you bet I tunneled him. When a survivor teammate unhooks you RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME without BT and you RUN RIGHT AT ME yeah, I'm gonna get the down and another hook. When I've left the hook and two minutes later your injured ass runs right out from behind a wall on the other side of the map and I smack you, I'm not tunneling you.
In all seriousness, I really don't see the difference between a killer tunneling a survivor and survivors gen-rushing. It's getting the objectives done a certain way in a certain order. I am truly open to someone explaining to me the difference.
-
I used to think, "Oh this Nancy will be a good sport." (Jaded!)
-
I agree. I'm a killer main and there are things in-game that can genuinely get me tilted, but I just use those opportunities to practice calming techniques. Post-game chat is my domain, though. I don't get tilted in post-game chat, that's my world! haha I'm a 7th grade English teacher and when people rage in chat I correct their grammar and send them on their way. So much salt!!
-
It's only when I'm playing a red ranked SWF team that they take out NOED. I've never had NOED not activate on completion of gens, but almost every time I play a SWF team it's like they go totem-hunting after the last gen. People that complain about NOED in post-game chat are also the ones that don't take out the totems.
-
I'd change to have customizable chase music depending on who I'm chasing. Imagine every time I chase a Dwight that the Benny Hill Theme song came on, or every time I chase a Claudette I hear Simon and Garfunkel singing, "Hello Darkness, my old friend..."
That would be AWESOME!! haha
Or customizable sound drops when I hook someone, like hearing a fart noise every time stupid Meg gets hooked. Total awesomeness!!

A good Plague will mess your day right up. A bad Plague and you just loop her all game then get camped with her noed.
Jokes aside Plague is my most hated killer. She robs you basically of an entire element of the game, healing. Does she need a buff? Yes Does she need to become A tier? Please god no.
And that's why I run NOED with Plague! haha

I seem to have had imbalacne since Jr High. It really is a pain. No matter how much I clean my face it still comes back. Now in my 40s imbalacne still makes my life difficult. Oh well, I'll die one day.

Well you see... matchmaking blows, so there's that. I get the same issue with being rank 14 and getting placed against red-ranked SWF teams. Ugh, it's painful sometimes, but that's my motivation to git gud. I don't want to be toxic to them, I just want to crush them. One day... one day!
-
I'm 100 hrs into the game and yesterday I was playing and for the life of me I COULD NOT find ANY survivors ANYWHERE! everytime I heard a gen and went there as I patrolled nobody was there. After several minutes I finally spotted a head behind a short wall and got a chase and a down and a hook. As I turned I saw it.... an aura. Across the map. I didn't have Barbecue running so I couldn't figure it out for a moment. The aura was almost flashing but only lit up as it faced me. Then I knew. OoO. I groaned in despair and trudged on, tunneled the shid outta that Object only to be sent on a wild goose chase as all the gens were finished. I did NOED one of the fools in the end and got one kill, but so glad that game was over.

Yesterday I won a game as Legion and one of the survivors who was a Legion main said GG and that I played well (I suspect it's because I had him on death hook at one point but left him for a slug instead which maybe he appreciated as he got another 5 minutes in the game), but it was such a shock to my system to see wholesome compliments in the post-game chat.
Teah that's happened a few times and it's crazy that it's like a shock to the system when it happens. I've been practicing Nurse because I wanna be god-tier with her and after I get decimated I send out a "Thanks for the nurse practice, gg" and will get so much nonsense back. Once I got a "Yeah, Nurse is hella hard, good luck with her!" and I was all blown away and smiling that someone was nice in post-game chat! Toxicity aside, the game is really fun and I'm enjoying it.

Tunneling is actually really inefficient. If you focus all your attention to one survivor, then you give up pressure on the other survivors. They can easily lead you away from the gens, and you'll eat a DS if they have it. Choosing to chase and hook the injured survivor in your face instead of the healthy one, or going after the survivor about to be removed instead of the one that'd be on first hook, isn't tunneling, it's just having the ability to prioritize
Tunneling may be inefficient, but killing that teabagging, flashlight clicking, pointing, waving SOB sure feels REAL good!! haha

your argument has nothing to do with the topic, it's just some childish counterpost with no constructive content. this topic is not about SWF, it's about spirit.
and i play solo only btw
I disagree, Your post mentions things about Spirit that you don't like and can't counter and, thus, should be nerfed because it isn't fun. My post brings to light that the exact same arguments you are making can be made by killers against survivors. I'm a rank 13 killer and played as Hag against a team made up of 1, 1, 2, 2 and it was the most toxic experience I've ever had. They got 3 gens SUPER fast, they didn't attempt to get my Ruin, then they baited me and looped me to death and the few hooks I got were short lived because the team swarmed and got their guy down and I got DS'd and Dead Harded like crazy trying to keep them hooked. I would love to see teams like that get nerfed to hell but the only true counter is for me to get better. I think the counter to what you are describing is to get better. Your hands may be tied playing solo but so are mine.
That's all, have a pleasant day.
-
I'm sorry, I must respectfully disagree.
You have no chance as a lvl 13 hunter playing against a Red-ranked SWF team communicating what they're doing and what the killer is doing. It's literally unfun playing against teams like this. They should not be able to do things that I don't want them to do like bait me into loops I haven't learned to counter yet. Teams are just OP like this, NO Counterplay against that.
Nerf red-ranked SWF teams against my low level killer for a healthier game experience for everyone.
-
On PC I stream and actually came across a SWF team streaming and they were pretty chill and post-game we all chatted for a bit and followed each other. That's my one wholesome DbD moment. I block all non-friend messaging on Ps4, learned that lesson playing Overwatch years ago.
