So I am the survivor who is stealthy and works behind the scenes. A lot of games I don't get hooked because I don't intereact with the killer at all. Does this make me a bad player...No it doesnt. Does this make me a team player still...Yes for the way i play it does.

I may not interact with the killer but thats because I can't loop for #########. If i try and loop a killer no matter what killer it is then I go down in seconds and i'm no good to the team anyway. However If i actively stay away from the killer, hide when needed I can still crank out gens, get unhooks, heal the survivors and do my best to help everyone get out.

Now this doesnt mean us stealthy players are all the same. yeah there are some real peices of work out there who often stealth the whole game, not doing gens, not taking hits and not helping just so they can escape but I think its kinda unfair to assume that 0 hooked survivors are all the same.

So many games that I escape i'm pulling more points than my team even when we all escape because I generally will max out 3 aspects of the pip system ignoring boldness. Its all about how you like to play.

For many hours I did this but if you don't interact with the killer on a regular basis, you are objectively a bad survivor. It obviously depends on game state because you can play "correctly" and have no hooks, but if you are bad at looping you at least need to be thinking about blocking the killer so they can't finish someone off early. Your hook states are a resource that costs the killer time and obviously saving your teammate is going to help you out in the long run. If you are that bad at looping I suggest using Windows of Opportunity and getting into chases. I still use it and it makes chasing the killer much easier and improving your chase a bit makes the game way more enjoyable as survivor.

  • Maybe but it prevents people from just taking all the best perks. Four gen regression perks for example. OId DH could even be a thing under a point system it would obviously be highest value of points. I wouldn't have limited items either you would just unlock different versions permanently. There would be slow medkit with more charges or fast medkit with less for example. It's kind of hard to balance generator times when a survivor can bring nothing or four survivors with green toolbox and BNP.

  • The game having four perk slots, two add-on slots, and one offering slot regardless of what they are instead of a weighted point system is horrible for balance.

The game having its only survivor objective holding M1 on a generator forever is really boring and a major drag on the game (including balance).

    A plethora of other problems.

Yea I would press the button.

Is there something wrong with wesker's lunge attack? It seems that it reaches WAY further than it should. He consistently lands hits on me while getting stunned by a palet..

Also are there no other killers in this game? Why is every other game against the same naruto running dude??? I am getting sick of him tbh

I had a game last night where it really felt like the Wesker was speed hacking. He was reaching me on pallets with his M1 while I was looping in ways that just made no sense. I'm pretty sure he hit me 6 times while vaulting and it was a "Huh?" moment every time, which isn't something that happens to me normally. I very rarely take issue with getting hit.

This is definitely possible. Otzdarva made a video about Wesker being good with Coup.

The bulk of complaints are not about survivor-induced tunneling. Before BT was made basekit, it was not uncommon to have survivors farm their teammates by going for an unsafe rescue with no BT. Even back when BT required a terror radius, it wasn't uncommon for survivors to hook farm.

The majority of players who've been playing dbd for a long time know the difference between survivor-induced tunneling and actual tunneling. I personally get tunneled almost every match. The games where I'm not being tunneled are always the most surprising and the most fun.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3151008#Comment_3151008

Yes, I know survivors already bring toolboxes and prove thyself. An unfortunate side effect that everyone said would happen if the devs ever touched gen speeds. Generators are boring, and there's no getting around that.

I keep seeing survivors saying that they are being tunneled almost every game. Is this not an indication of said survivor-induced tunneling? You have three teammates why are you being tunneled every game?

20 seconds bt, + haste 10% for 20 seconds. And it's only an idea, it might be tested to see if it's good or not, so you know I said the first thing I had in my mind

Sorry if my post sounded harsh, I was just a little confused. If you really want to tunnel the haste isn't too big a deal as long as you are around when they are unhooked. I think the solution has to be some form of both incentives and "punishment" however. People will still tunnel even if it increases gen speed because 3 survivors are still going to accomplish far less than 4. Unfortunately, I don't think it is possible to remove tunneling from the game without just making it really hard to do, unless they do a complete rework of the game.

  • He is right about one thing. Holding M1 as survivor is pretty boring.

Anyway, I have to go uninstall my game now.

  • His experience is apparently that killers hit the person being unhooked right off the hook 100% of the time. In that case it would be pretty useless.

  • How does the increased gen speed for a dead survivor solve your stated cause for tunneling? Isn't giving increased gen speed to all survivors just an even bigger punishment for tunneling?

I'm fine with 20 seconds of BT, you can hit them twice if you really want them down or you can just do something else.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3150488#Comment_3150488

And yet they would anyway without proper tools to encourage alternative playstyles and punish those.

This is 100% the case. There have always been a certain number of gamers that love camping for whatever reason. It's like when you lose a game of domination in CoD because your teammate is sitting somewhere with grenade launchers etc padding their KD instead of playing for the objective. The game has to encourage them to not camp or highly discourage them from camping if you want it to stop.

As for the original topic there shouldn't be free kills or escapes. If the survivors are all alive and not on death hook it shouldn't be too hard for them to save their teammates and escape unless they make mistakes or the killer plays exceptionally well. If one or more survivors are dead, it should be very hard for them to save and escape. It should all depend on how the game went beforehand. You could argue that certain perks (eg. DS/NOED) ruin this.

  • This is why I want to see my MMR. I have 150 hours and I get consistently matched with survivors with 1k+ hours (survivor and killer). I was playing survivor yesterday and I got matched with a 4.7k hour survivor main twitch streamer who was practicing for a tournament. Then I will get matched with a group of survivors with 20 hours on killer and it's an absolute massacre to the point I'm worried four people are going to quit the game.

  • I had a guy try to give up yesterday. He got downed and we distracted the killer. I ran over and got him up off the ground and he just stood there. Killer downed him again and slugged him. We completed 2 gens before he was finally hooked (the only hook the killer had so far), and he tried to kill himself. I 100% saved him. Screw that guy.

  • I guess it's already time to argue that Reassurance should be basekit for all survivors.

  • @EvilBarney666 said:

I'm concerned about the body blocking. If the killer is clearly going for the unhooker and you body block , that is using a defensive perk offensively.

I feel that they should just remove collision with the killer and other players during that time. Then it would incentive killers to go for the unhooker since they could not hit the person fresh off the hook.

Once the survivor does a conspicuous action or the timer wears off they lose the endurance and having no collision.

That's what a lot of people don't seem to get. The old DS BT DH meta wasn't a problem for killers because they couldn't tunnel. It was that good survivors turned their anti-tunnel/camp perks into a free pass to terrorize the killer and keep them from accomplishing anything for half the match.

For who? This dude can't even garner one sweet sweet updoot. Obviously nobody thinks sprint burst is a problem.

No one guy complained that means all killers want sprint burst removed from the game.

  • @ThePrizz said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3148255#Comment_3148255

I just feel like Sprint Burst is more annoying for more killers than DH was. You could wait out DH and the distance they gained was not so big, the only big problem I saw with it was that you could use it to avoid traps.

Sprint Burst on the other hand really hurts killers that are not ranged or have good mobility.

It seems not so powerful at first, but as I said, if you're a killer with no ranged abilities/mobility and 2 or more survivors bring this perk, you're gonna have a really really bad time.

Bring fearmonger on low mobility killers then. They either walk everywhere so they don't use it up or don't get it back while working on generators.

  • Why does this forum seem to be full of survivor mains who only want BHVR to buff survivors and killer mains who want BHVR to only buff killers? Maybe because I actually play both I can understand the arguments from both sides.

If they increased the base BT it is because they didn't think it was long enough (which it wasn't). The new DS stun isn't long enough either, I have time to M1 with Huntress after a DS it is that pointless.

If they add a one-time use for Reassurance, it is likely because survivors can exploit it, or they don't want people trolling survivors they don't like by keeping them on the hook forever.

If they lower the number of pallets on new RPD it's probably because there are too many pallets on the dang map.

This "BHVR is survivor/killer sided" is completely nonsensical and childish. They need both sides to be happy for their game to continue to be successful they just aren't omniscient superhumans.

  • I like the brown jacket + sunglasses model.

I don't know if I'm the only one but my problem with Ada is that her face looks like Asian NPC #2 rather than a main character.

  • Sorry bud, escaping through hatch isn't a win. It is a consolation prize of some blood points, so survivors don't feel so bad. All you are doing with this post and your "I never heal anyone" post is showing your complete lack of game knowledge. Once the killer applies pressure by injuries, interrupting gens, and hooks everyone can't just sit on gens. If everyone played like you suggest the killer would win with four hooks in about 3 minutes. Unless you get hatch which again isn't a win.

I'm pretty sure you are just trolling though.

Since we have this thread going… Has any one else noticed a significant increase in Pinhead finding the box at game start? I have found that about 50% of my matches vs pinhead start this way lately, whereas it used to be maybe 5%? My assumption is that there is a trick to figuring out where the box spawns at game start that has gone public, just like there are patterns to where survivors usually spawn… maybe I’m wrong… but if others have noticed this lately, maybe I’m right… thanks…

It is not 100% but if you know where the survivors are (lethal pursuer) when it spawns you can find the box. It spawns basically in the area where both Pinhead and the survivors are not. There is an Otzdarva video on finding the box on YT.

  • Every game that does this nowadays has MMR in the unranked mode making it completely pointless. You leave ranked for some nonsweaty games and you get sweaty games there too. It's the main reason I don't play CoD for hundreds of hours anymore.

Almost all good loops have been removed. Dead zones exists in a majority of matches. There is half the pallets there used to be. They slightly nerfed Thana but buffed Pain Resonance. Corrupt still does exactly what it did, delayed the beginning of the match which is insanely powerful.

You always make some good points then you say things like "they slightly nerfed Thana" and then it's hard for anyone to take what you say seriously.

  • Five percent would likely be way too much. You would also have to lower total gen time to make up for it. This would cause games where the killer loses three generators 10 seconds into their first chase. As well as games where the killer gets some quick hooks and snowballs to the point where survivors can't do anything.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Disagree.

It's possible to win 95% of games by playing nice.

I would have to say this depends on what is considered a win and what is playing nice.

Sometimes I even feel bad playing nice because I'm keeping survivors in a match longer that I (and I'm guessing they) know they are never going to win.

If THEY want to be full health, why didn't THEY bring CoH themselves? They're free to be a burden on the rest of the team, but I'm also free to not help them in their selfishness and lack of independence.

I can't tell if you are trolling at this point. As others have said, whether or not healing the other survivor is a good tactical decision depends on what is happening and what the game state is like.

Even if you think it would have been better for the other survivor to go do something else you have to react to what is happening in the game. In this scenario its often better to just heal them even if you don't want to because one person doing a generator and one person doing literally nothing isn't giving you the best chance of escaping.

  • @Wezil said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/340365/survivors-stop-begging-for-heals

And the developers were like, let's nerf "Self Care", survivors should get heals from teammates!

Nerfing self-care was a massive buff to survivors. Now they don't waste huge amounts of time self-caring and they bring more medkits which are the best item in the game. It's like a double super buff.

  • No. If there are problems with the game it is the developer's fault.

People are always going to try and find the best builds and strategies. Every game has a META it is basically impossible for it not to happen. People want to win the game. It is up to developers to create a game that has a healthy META.

I agree with you though it would take a massive rework of the game to fix the biggest issues that people hate.

This perk needs a heavy nerf, it doesn’t even show up in the post game screen! Unacceptable!

I can't name a single killer main streamer 4'king every match that isn't a boomer. Compare it to prominent, competent Fortnite streamers. They're prominent and competent because they're teens and have the reflexes necessary to succeed at the game. Solo queue is at a serious disadvantage at DBD. Killer is not.

Otz is not middle aged for example but your right that killer usually does not need fast reflexes but survivor does need. Most survivor streamers are in their 20s. But I do think nurse need good reflexes as supalf sounds young too.

I don't even know how anyone is supposed to take this seriously. Some killers you know are older, and some survivors are younger therefor killer is easy and survivor takes skill and reflexes. No logical holes in this argument at all.

Why are you trying to denigrate an entire group of people who play the same game as you? What purpose can that possibly serve?

Among Us would just ban people who talked like this. Heroes of the Storm doesn't ban for it, but does remove the chat function from offenders. I believe League of Legends has separate queues/lobbies for the worst offenders, but I'm going off what I've been told on that one.

Among Us, HotS, and LoL do have a system for banning people who are being offensive. LoL does in fact put people who have low "honor" in lobbies together. This chat you presented would not qualify them for punishment in any of those games or any game in existence. Maybe in 2030.

  • Killers play survivor. Survivors play killer. Everyone is playing DbD. People are also individuals with their own thoughts and feelings. Killers and survivors are not two separate hive minds even though it may seem like that on the youtubes.

Or you could just put them on the hook and then look for the last one. If they escape, darn, if you catch them, hooray! I've found it equally boring as killer to leave someone on the ground and hope the last one comes along and take one of the most obvious baiting tactics in the game. Your best bet would be to work on that skill level.

It's funny. Based on your comment history you strike me as the kind of person who would say that instead of camping/tunneling a survivor to secure a 1k at the end of the game the killer should just take the L and let everyone escape.

  • The biggest one for me is survivors who go behind a wall and are suddenly moving at Hope speed. And yes, auto dead hard is a thing but it is basically impossible to tell. They could easily just be hitting E at the right time.

A couple nights ago I had a suspicious Dwight on Haddonfield. He was the last one left and the hatch spawned right next to me. I closed it, turned around and he was standing behind me. He ran off into one of the houses and waited until I was back in sight, did a light teabag and then escaped from the trial into thin air.

So, I played DBD from 2016 to October 2021, and was gonna return when I get home from work. I was curious about the state of the game. I mainly played Killer, and enjoyed Instant Q times, but reading through the patch notes and forums, I am seeing that Killers were buffed, and now their wait time to find a match is 10-20 minutes.

This is very dissapointing to me, as I really just want to play a few games after work, but have limited free time and dont want to spend it WAITING. So my question is, is it true? Are the Queue times really that bad? Also, how is the state of the game in general? I just want to play some Pyramid Head/Clown/Leatherface again after a year of not playing...

The queue times are longer during the day (still not 10 minutes) for me but only a few minutes past like 5 pm. One thing that everyone has been bringing up is killer queue times and how that must mean no one wants to play survivor. No one mentions how before the patch killer queue times were instant. By their logic that must mean killer was pretty unbearable before.

The current state of the game is fine by DbD standards. The game has problems that have always been and will probably always be there and it has nothing to do with the last patch. They will most likely need to tone down some of the killer buffs or improve survivor solo q somehow. If you liked playing killer before you will like it now.

  • @Pyrosorc said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VNMN1FCAACNW/endgamechatnonames.png

Some players go out of their way to just be the biggest ######### possible - queueing with their friends and teabagging all game long is weirdly contended as "okay". But there's no way that communicating like this in end-game chat should be tolerated by any serious devs or even communiity. Or are they likely already banned and playing on hacked alts with their private "60 hour" accounts?

Yes I've sadly had to censor the names, I've been in trouble with the forum mods for not before. Which I still think is dumb, but that's another matter (honestly, people should be given the tools to avoid being exposed to people like this).

I'm really not saying this to be mean but if that chat actually bothers you enough to make a forum post and talk about banning you need to get some thicker skin or improve your confidence. That is some incredibly mild smack talk.

Also, if you don't like it don't respond to them and leave. You responded to "ez game" that is exactly what they wanted you to do.

  • I would argue that the game needs either a sequel or a complete rework if there is any chance of making the game actually balanced and getting rid of things like camping/tunneling.

I just started playing recently so I don't really know the history like other people, but it seems to me like the game started out as a silly party game that was meant to be played for maybe a couple dozen hours for some casual fun. It caught on, became very popular and now people want it to be balanced and competitive. They also don't want to hold M1 on generators every match but half the perks in the game revolve around gen speed.

  • I think a new zombie should spawn every time you hook a survivor. Then, when a survivor dies a zombie horde spawns and rampages across the map.

  • @SgtMittens said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/341774/2-hooking-every-survivor-is-the-worst-strategy

People like you I just can't figure out. It's a game, it should be played to have fun. There is literally nothing tangible waiting for you at the end of a match if you escape or get 4 kills. No money, no trophy, no applause, nothing.

Some people play to win. They bring the best perks and employ the most effective tactics available. They get fulfilment from this. Others don't care so much about winning. They like to use off meta perks and goof around. Both are valid.

If a strategy, tactic, or build are unhealthy for the game it is on the developers to fix it.

  • I try and spread the love but there is almost always one survivor that insists on showing up on my screen repeatedly. That or two of the survivors are being extra sneaky and the other two survivors get all the hooks. If one or two survivors end up dead early because of mistakes made there is no room for complaining.

If you go into the match as killer planning to hook the first person you see, then ignore/run past all the other survivors until that person is dead that is just incredibly lame.

  • @moonwinx said:

I think if the goal is to bring solo more in line with SWF, then basekit kindred as it is now would probably be what you wanted. I know a few people don't want the killer aura, but the first thing people on comms tell their teammates when they get hooked is where the killer is headed. I think it would probably unintentionally buff some SWFs that are not great at communication, but those are not the SWFs that I think people are worried about buffing. It would probably be a good idea to shorten the Killer Aura distance (as stated above) so that you can't bring open handed and a map offering for a small map.

Even if Seal Team 6 was playing DbD, basekit kindred would be a significant buff.

  • There are a good number of line-of-sight blockers on Midwich which is a weakness of Nurse. However overall, the ability to traverse the different floors, rooms and hallways at will is a massive advantage.

Garbage games can still be fun to play. From a technical and balance side of things, DbD is total trash, but it's still fun to play regardless.

Aside from that: sunk cost fallacy.

I don't know how people don't realize that this game is impossible to balance without a total rework of the game from the ground up. The game is enjoyable despite the imbalance and the horribly boring generator objective.

(hint: the answer is nothing and it’s an outdated mechanic that should be removed)

It adds a dangerous area of the map that survivors have to be mindful of and the killer can take advantage of if they so choose.

Just because one is left, doesnt mean he lost. Otherwise make the game 3vs1.

1 Survivor should still have the chance to win and shouldnt be impossible.

Also in most cases, survivors do something. Maybe you dont see it.

Doing Totems, healing others or hiding while in terror radius (which litterly gives points) isnt doing nothing. And the reason for proof is simple, not every killer playing sees everything.

Also for @topic, i dont think killers should automatic win when the timers run out. Killers slugg too to find the last survivor instead of just hooking him to "end" the game. Also some killers can do things to keep the game hostage.

It should result in a draw.

Also having endgame collaps and still needing to do gens? ######### no. Endgame collaps always powers gates. Simple as that.

I don't know what is so hard to understand about this. He is talking about people doing nothing. Not people healing or doing totems. If you heal or do a totem you wouldn't get the crows or w/e said in-game solution is...

I mean I usually run around them and they spend several seconds lining up their shot because they're not confident, sometimes they even miss again. So they're not really saving any time.

Whether or not they are able to execute, hitting with a hatchet first from close range allows you to follow up with a second hit much faster. Like way faster than most other killers are able to get a second hit. If you hit with M1 it is the complete opposite. The survivor will be able to make it to a "safe" area or get away entirely in many cases.
