Maybe I've just been lucky, but I play survivor just as much as killer but I rarely ever see a killer actually properly do either of these things. Like maybe once or twice a month I'll come across one.

I know there's quite a few people on here that claim they get it constantly and say it's the biggest problem with the game right now and I honestly wonder if it is really that bad for some people.

Tbf some people's definition of what camping and tunnelling is can be very broad so I do take these claims with a grain of salt

So as a killer main, I rarely see people camping. While I think it's a strategy, I think it's a poor strategy, and I don't use it.

But I've ran into a few campers that also tunnel, just today. It is always either a stealth killer (I'm looking at you, Wraith)... Or Bubba. Literally just had back to back matches with a camping/tunneling Wraith then Bubba.

It was ridiculous, and is exactly why I main killer and only play survivor for challenges.

Of course high mobility killers shake that up. For example nurse would absolutely crap on any team that's on any map with no corn. It would be too easy, same for the rest of the mobility killers. But that only proved that we would need to bring the lower tiers up to the higher tiers and buff solo, something that is only started recently. I personally never considered any map but the one with the mine shaft on Macmillan killer sided, then again I play a killer who is literally moving 5 percent faster than the survivors at the start of the game

They're all smaller maps, and at LEAST 3 gens spawn very close together on all three versions. And shelter woods has extremely good visibility, as well as being small.

The game is not for me because i wouldnt call the thana change a buff? You are the one who dont understand the game i think.

You arent forced to play a game a certein way. You can play however YOU want so if for ME the thana change isnt a buff, just means i use it a other way but that doesnt mean the game is not for me.

Ok... So buffs and nerfs are objective not subjective. I.E. The ruin change was a nerf, as it changed the entire way the perk worked in every essence, even in how it was designed to be used. After the change we were forced to apply more pressure to gens, just for the perk to work. Before, it was intended to PASSIVELY do it's job, now it only works with an active playstyles.

Thanatophobia is a buff, because it did nothing but strengthen it's INTENDED USE. It was never intended to be a passive slowdown skill, and that was obvious to everybody at the start. It didn't become a passive perk until Legion was introduced, and you could keep survivors injured rather easily.

So yes, while you're being subjective and whiny, I WILL say it's a buff, and if you need perks to act as a crutch to you, you're a lower skill killer.

^ Title says all. I have various DCs even in the beginning of the game just when survivors see Pyramid Head. And when I play against a really really organized swf and only get 1 kill or so they bm like there is no end...

In end-game chat they said multiple times that just by the fact that one is playing Pyramid head, you are toxic.

I really don't understand. It's by far not the strongest killer out there and I just enjoy the scraping :D So this really confuses me

Buddy... My advice is get used to it, say GGz, and leave...

Here's the thing about survivors... They will literally yell at you about ANYTHING. Three days ago I played LF, and got the 4k in 2 minutes by capitalizing on their mistaken altruism.

Afterwards they told me I win by using a no skill killer... I then said I would give their team a rematch versus any killer of their choosing. They choose Trapper, I then get the 4k after 1 gen was completed...

Again I was a no skill killer because I used the yellow bag and the stone that resets traps automatically.

Moral of the story is this: Unless you hook each survivor no more than once and walk away, letting them escape.... You're a toxic killer.

And no, I don't "camp" or "tunnel"... And not because it's what they want. Just because I like getting 50k+ per match.

Let me start with too big is a good reason, it makes low mobility killers have a really hard time pressuring gens. So let's start

Ormond is the most survivor sided map

The game is killer sided as hell

    Haddonfield is survivor sided

Temple of purgation is survivor sided

Some of the corn maps are survivor sided

Those are the main ones I remember. The hexy tourney wasn't even easy lmao, there was so many situations where "OP" killers like PH, Spirit and Nurse got clapped by a gen rushing swf. Yeah I'm gonna guess by your responses you aren't a English speaker and you are survivor biased as hell

Haddonfield is the biggest mistake in the game map-wise. Ormond would be MUCH better if they could fix the scratchmarks. I enjoy Ormond, other than that. (Before you start with survivor-biased, please know I play 1 game as survivor for every 7/8 games as killer, with 2k hours playtime)

But let's remember that with the exception of Ormond, Haddonfield, and Mother's Dwelling, the maps are designed to be best used with the killer they were released with.

But when it comes to map size... If they make all maps small enough for low speed killers to do very well, then killers who have high mobility will become even more unbalanced in killer favor.

And let's also remember that it seems that since infinites were removed, all Macmillan maps are killer-sided, instead of just Sheltered Woods.

  • @Demonl3y said:

I wouldnt call the thana change a buff. For me its a nerf.

Lol... Do you not understand the real purpose for Thana? It's to get the survivors healing. So if healing is debuffed, they're less likely to heal, and rather just work through it.

Think about it... A Nurses Calling, Stridor, and Thanatophobia were all released with the Nurse... And Thana was simply to encourage healing so Nurses would be more viable in the build.

So, if you're playing anything other than Legion, Thana is a slowdown via constant healing rather than actual slowdown speed.

And if you're expecting having 4 injured survivors saving you, what are you thinking? That'd be encouraging subpart play. The number one way to apply pressure is to have a constant cycle of players hooked and downed...

Why should you be rewarded for only being able to injure them, and then lose them? You should be rewarded for solid play, which is constantly downing and hooking survivors. If you expect perks to win the game for you with no real skill backing you up, DbD is NOT the game for you.

Atleast buff her addons or something. Amanda letter is like Wraith addon "all seeing - blood" but limits her so much. I thought pink addons were supposed to be strong but yet its so restricted and punishing to use...

Also her RTB are way to RNG, I cant count the amount of times I manage to get rid of her trap in my first box search.

Any good team with decent loopers and coordinated gen pressure will shut her down immediately. You know like the other 14 out of 21 killers we have in the roster: Trapper, Wraith, Billy, Huntress, Myers, Doctor, Bubba, Clown, Legion, Plauge, GF, Demogorgon, Deathslinger, Blight.

You shouldn't place Trapper in that list. Trapper and Hag play nothing like any other killer. They are strongest mid-game, and if you are strategic and patient, they are the STRONGEST at mid-game.

I'm a Trapper main, and I KNOW to expect 2 gens to pop before my first hook, and that's fine. I rarely lose as Trapper.

His only weakness mid-game is a SwF with OoO. (I run Whispers, so I know if someone may see me setting up my web)

But as for the OP's dilemma... I play Pig the third most nowadays, and I run into the same thing. I'll let them have a boop IF they are the last alive and I plan on giving hatch. Otherwise... Not my fault some survivors just wanna die fast. Lol

Before DbD, 0 reports for cheating. Since DbD, over 300 reports for cheating. Mind you I don't play daily, and I tend to take half year breaks here and there... So that's a LOT of reports to me. Lol

A few days ago I was really thinking about how strong it is for a survivor to have the ability to pick themselves up off the ground. Currently there's two perks (that I know of) that give you that ability, No Mither and Unbreakable. For the longest time No Mither has been seen as one of the worst perks in the game because it's one downside is too harsh for the upsides to really take effect while Unbreakable is the exact opposite, no downsides at all for such a strong ability other than only being able to use it once.

To make No Mither more viable and Unbreakable less powerful, here's what I've come up with, someone else might have had the same idea so I apologize if I'm just regurgitating what others may have said.

No Mither- Instead of starting the trail injured and broken, you start the trail healthy. Once downed, you have the ability to pick yourself up at the normal recovery rate. Once you pick yourself up, then you are broken and can't heal for the rest of the match, but you still have the ability to pick yourself up again unlike Unbreakable where it disables. You still keep the "no blood pools" thing but with that I'd also add a 50% quieter moaning to compliment the non existent blood pools and actually help with that slight bit of stealth. Another thing would be to have the broken status effect symbol appear only on the survivor's side so smart killers won't automatically know this person has the ability to pick themselves up again.

Unbreakable- Now, this perk is much simpler than No Mither, which makes it easier to nerf too. A simple change I'd make to this is to get rid of the ability to pick yourself up all together while retaining the faster recovery rate, for two reasons.

Reason 1, Bill is from L4D, I have played L4D and you do not have the ability to pick yourself up off the ground when you get downed in that game, so why can he do it in DBD?

Reason 2, you cannot tell me that having the ability to pick yourself up off the ground at a 25% faster recovery rate and still being able to heal for the rest of the match is in any way fair. The only thing that people can argue is that you can only use unbreakable once, but with the ability to heal and play normally right after really makes it so only need to use it once. And don't get me started on it's stupidly powerful synergy with Decisive Strike and Soul Guard.

This community has a hard time accepting change, whenever a new chapter comes out everyone automatically calls the killer OP because they haven't figured out how to play against them yet. So for something as powerful as Unbreakable to get nerfed as hard as I'm saying it should isn't gonna be met with a positive response, I just want to hear everyone else's opinion, because that's all this is, my opinion.

Now, I'm not sure if you're a killer or survivor main, but as a killer main...

I very much like your idea for No Mither. However, I think that Unbreakable should NOT be nerfed.

WHY does it need nerfed? Because it stops you from guaranteeing a 4k by slugging?

I don't understand all the people wanting survivor nerfs? I started as killer a few months after this game came out, and it is more balanced than it has EVER been.

I see that your idea is to truly BUFF No Mither, and I think that's a great idea. But nerfing Unbreakable?

Let's stop discussing the nerfing of perfectly balanced perks, and keep our focus on how unbalanced some of the MAPS are. The Game is completely unbalanced in killer favor, while Ormond is unbalanced in survivor favor.

I'd rather face a 4 man SwF with DS and Unbreakable on The Game, than solo queue players with mediocre perks on Ormond.

I get how that would be frustrating. If I'm being honest though in a situation like that there really isn't much a survivor could do to assist other than perhaps if they had Any Means Necessary and could pick the pallet back up. Their only options would be to slam out gens and leave with a depip and less than 10k BP or do what they did to get as much BP and emblems as they could. there are 2 whole emblems and scoring categories blocked if the killer doesn't or can't play. I hope I don't come across that situation, because I have definately done that sort of thing with AFK killers

That's all I'm saying. If there's a glitch that has a negative effect on a killer, survivors are still gonna do their survivor thing, even if it negatively affected the killer's game... And vice versa.

I don't so much, because I quit caring about the 4k a LONG time ago. 90% of games, I'll give the last survivor hatch no worries. My main thing is having fun.

Example: Other day I'm playing as GF on Ormond. I'm stalking a Meg, get revealed by a New above me on the balcony. I turn around, do a butt dance, Nea does the same. We butt danced together for about 5 minutes, then I went wherever she pointed. I ended up letting them all escape, and we all butt danced in a line to the exit gate. Good times. LOL

People need to realize this is a game, and just a game. There's so many bugs in this game, that if you take it so seriously that you have to complain on forums like the OP did... You will NEVER have a good day of gaming.

It is refreshing to see so many on here that didnt exploit that bug, i just wish you were in my games :)

I led a trapper on a chase deliberately to where a meg was trapped and what did he do? Slugged me, downed and hooked her, then hooked me. Alright downing me is fair play, I was free to make my choices but that was just dirty. I felt like I sandbags her

Yeah, but I also remember a time when I ended up stuck in every other pallet that got slammed on muh head. Did survivors give me free hits, or just finish gens and leave? No, they kept me in game for 20 minutes while they farmed points and blinded me over and over.

This is just the worst, most addictive game ever. LMAO

You are super delusional, or you're playing a different game and extremely confused.

I'm a killer main with roughly 1800 hours playtime. I started when the game first came out.

Go look up YouTube videos from 3-4 years ago, because you OBVIOUSLY weren't there. It is sooooo much easier for us killer mains these days.

Get better at the game maybe? Spend less time here, and more in game?

P.S. My main is Huntress, followed by Trapper, so you REALLY have no reasons to be crying here. I barely get chances to play anymore, and still do well.

  • @FrootLoops said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1620682#Comment_1620682

In this case no. Nobody is going to get banned for playing a DLC character just because his sound is bugged. Just like nobody got banned for hooking survivors who were stuck in the hill and nobody is getting banned for not standing still an extra 3 seconds when DS bugs out.

As I said, you have to rely on the good sportsmanship of the community not to take advantage. Some (myself included) didn't even know this bug existed. Coming at us with "don't do this you pieces of [BAD WORD]" will just turn away the ones that would otherwise play fair

It may be surprising, but I'm a killer main and didn't exploit the hill bug. I play survivor for rituals and archives, so I get the struggle, completely.

But I'm a rarity I'm guessing? When I played survivor I avoided any hill after the first time I got stuck, so I wouldn't know first-hand.

  • I definitely notice a disadvantage as killer. Frame rate drops aside, killers on Xbox have quite the disadvantage against PC survivors, due to how much better controls are on PC. I've noticed that PC killers have a MUCH easier time playing mind games and hitting survivors that juke well.

Before crossplay, I was able to consistently get 2-3k on any SwF team... But I can tell right away if a SwF is on PC. They can dodge and move in ways that no console player can. Plus, you have the fact that their PC probably runs circles over my Xbox performance wise, every time.

Having said that, I'm not turning crossplay off, as I prefer the shorter wait times, and I still have fun.

The one thing I wish they would do, is provide a checklist, allowing you to specify who you can connect to. It just seems reasonable to allow us to have crossplay. AND the ability to choose not to face this tryhard SwF squads... And let's not mention how much more sweaty PC killers are. Lol

  • I main killer, and have had this issue a LOT now. It's so frustrating that I'm temporarily maining survivor.

At first I thought it might be my controller bugging out (XBox), but then I noticed that it happened to other killers trying to hook me.

I've noticed a few specific things. It happens to me every game, and is not survivor or killer specific, although I noticed that it happens a LOT more with the hag. However, I've also noticed that it's HOOK specific, as I tried to hook two survivors to the same bugged hook the last match I played. I noticed that THREE different hooks were bugged, but I had no issues with the rest.

My final note is that I haven't had this bug on basement hooks. Not one time.

But guys... Fix this ASAP, as it is completely game breaking for me. I hate playing survivor, but killer is unplayable to me... And I think other killers may agree, as I've noticed a drastic increase in wait time for survivors.

  • @xMain said:

I feel like every other game as Killer I get flashlight clicked at, t bagged at pallets, and bullied in end chat by a SWF group telling me to die of cancer. I don't get as many toxic people as survivor, but why are people like this? This community can be so toxic and I don't get why. Entitlement? Maybe. Even when people get what they want I get insulted relentlessly. The community gets a bad rep from people like this. Idk, maybe its just me. Just tired of people feeling the need to be mean as hell. Every game has toxic people, but I see it especially here.

In my experience, playing both survivor and killer... Survivors are typically MUCH more toxic. I can think of TWO times this past year I had a toxic killer message me some stuff...

But survivors? I'll get SwF groups that'll talk crap if I get less than a 4k, even if I got 3 and 1 is out by hatch, the messages will FLY... And if I DARE get a 4k? I'll get hate about how I'm sweaty and a loser, or reported for cheating.

This is a toxic community, on both sides in forums... But in game? Survivors are much, much more toxic.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

You have the option to turn it off if you're not enjoying it.

Yes, sure thing... But then we have the wait time issue.

Or they could give options of what platforms you'd like to crossplay with. A simple checkbox type list, listing the platforms, and allowing you to choose.

I play console, and anybody with a brain knows that PC has huge advantages... So why give two choices... Unfair fights, or horrid wait times.

Why not allow more customizability? It really isn't that hard. Pretty much common sense, with a little bit more coding.

But hey, you guys that see everything in black n white keep at it. Keep on thinking inside that little box, justifying stupid, lazy "solutions" with an even dimmer mindset.

  • Ok, so I'm a killer main...

I've played roughly 1800 hours as killer, to my 150 as survivor...

And I'll tell you this... I don't mind decisive, or bt, or any meta perks a survivor may bring. After a 3 month break, I come back and find that I'm still facing survivors that are WELL below my skill level.

I don't understand how killers are complaining. These killers that whine on here, must spend very little time playing, or they may have a learning disability... But it's ridiculous. In the 17 games since I came back, I've had survivors escape ONCE. And that was a 4 man swf, all rank 1...

And ya know what? Kudos to them! If you work as a team, and play well, survivors SHOULD escape.

Basically, what I'm saying is this... I'm a killer main, and I see ZERO reason to say this game is survivor sided. It's soooo killer sided, that if I'm playing against survivors, and they aren't being toxic... I will ALWAYS give the last survivor hatch.

So these crybabies need to suck it up and practice as much as they whine. Lol

This is a good example of how bad the Killer emblem system is. You play well and your score shows it yet according to the game you didn't even meet the requirement to get a pip. I think what irritates me more about this bad emblem system is i can guarantee the player on 20k pipped and the player on 13k most likely black pipped.

Essentially the game is telling me i played roughly the same as that bottom player which is insane due to the drastic score difference. 1,900 score away from the max and to be honest if i did get that the game might have barely just given me a pip.

This is why Killers slug for the 4k, because it is potential their rank up can be easily robbed from them. If the devs fixed the emblem system so it's fair Killers wouldn't need to slug for the 4k

Why are you even worrying about rank? I've been rank 1 for weeks, but I don't try to hard. Heck, last night I had a ritual for LF chainsaws... So I just practiced chainsaws the entire game, at Lerys. Repeated slugs, two hooks, I didn't care.

Wanna know what I cared about? Every player in that game had a blast. I downed survivors enough to complete the ritual 3 times. At the end, I downed Feng 20m from the gate, and walked her there while her team practiced bodyblocking me from carrying her to the exit. Followed by a chainsaw moonwalk, downing all 4 in a tantrum and watching them crawl out... And it was hilarious.

So, as a rank 1 killer, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I remain rank 1 by giving good, fun games, and actually enjoying the game again.

Quit stressing over 2k, 3k, 4k, blah blah blah.

If I can maintain rank 1, while having those kinda goofy games, maybe the ranking system is messed up, and you should quit worrying about it? Rank means nothing, since the point of the game is having fun.

Use meme builds, slug 3 survivors and go do stupid stuff while they get picked up, and maybe, just maybe, this game can get a little less toxic.

  • @Huff said:

What are those screenshots even about? The first one the killer disconnected, and the other two the killer did fine. Even the Ghostface who only brought 3 perks...

IDK man, people focus so much on ranks and just parrot what they hear other people saying. I hear everyone saying Billy Spirit Freddy are the only characters you can play if you want to win or whatever. What about Nurse? What about Hag? I've seen plenty of those killers dominate games.

I'm not saying that if you push both roles to the very limits of their potentials, bringing in the best offerings and everything, that one side would be better than the other. I couldn't tell you truthfully, because I don't know. But what I can say is that the average game of DbD isn't going to be like that. Most people aren't going to be god players, and when you run into them you just gotta be good enough to hold your own or accept that you weren't good enough to.

I'm sorry you're not having as much fun, but the only things I see here mostly are complaints about matchmaking with ranks, and Hex:Ruin. At the end of the day I really don't feel like rank matters all that much. I've literally seen players at rank 18 that play like gods and rank 1 players that play like potatoes. If you're getting stomped, at the end of the day all there really is to do is get better or move on. As for Ruin, that was a perk that players relied way too much on. I won't get into if it was necessary or not, but from what I hear, a lot of players would agree that it's a bandaid perk. I wouldn't be so mad that they changed Ruin as I would be that there's a game pacing problem. On top of that, it didn't even help much at higher ranks where people could hit skill checks anyway. I just don't see why people still complain so much about the change.

Exactly my thoughts. I main Huntress, but play every killer. I've recently been getting at LEAST a 2k every game, and more often than not a 3/4k. And that's with every killer, including Trapper, GF, Hag, Nurse, Wraith.

My thought is that 90% of the people here complaining have the mentality of a spoiled teenager. They want everything spoon-fed to them. I'm a killer main, I'm rank 1, and I rarely have to sweat.

Then again, people have it in their minds that they must get a 4k every game, or they're losing and something must be done.

Really, I typically give the last survivor alive hatch, because their team was a bunch of potatoes. I really think the biggest issue here is the spoiled brat mentality.

I started gaming in the early 90's... And man, people think games nowadays are hard? Go back and play games that came out in the 80's/90's.. you'll come back to these games so happy to have what you have. 😂

I was a main killer and I am going to leave this game, there are many big maps even I have counted 16 pallets in one map, infinite windows, I am bored of just playing as Freddy, Billy, spirit. they are the only killers who can fight. generators made in less than 3 minutes. This game caught my attention for the killers and I find that the survivors are stronger. You even removed the ruin and continue to help them a lot of main killers ask for the old ruin but u just think about new survivors but what about new killers? New killers have to play Vs main survivors because main killers left the game for these reasons, and everyone has realized that there are only a few main killers (red rank). Main survivors have to wait 10 minutes to play a game where killers are yellow or green rank and they escaped so easy in les than 5 minutes and they have to wait 10 minutes more... It is boring to escape so easy.. Veteran players know that before the game was divided into two stages, first it was to find the ruin and after destroying it you could already make generators. Nowadays just do gens and used god loops to escape...

Anyway, thank you for all, I am in different groups of Facebook, Twitter about this game and every day killers left the game for these reasons.. so you can continue helping survivors but every day you have more main survivors and less killers or weak killers.

Here's the problem... You guys that come to forums and post, are being big babies. First off, old Ruin sucked, and was a crutch perk at best. You say only certain killers are viable? Explain my 4k games with Trapper, Hag, GF, etc.

I main Huntress, but I play ALL killers, because variety is the spice of life. What I'm seeing here is inability to adapt, and zero patience. It takes time to get good at something, and instead of buckling down, you kids run crying to forums.

I'm a rank 1 killer, and face red rank survivors all the time, and I can't remember the last time I got less than a 2k. From your pics, you don't know how to synergize your builds for each killer, and due to that, you'll never be effective.

How about instead of crying and giving up, you grow some cajones, buckle down, and learn something? Adaptability is key. Figure it out.

You should. It is mentioned that the entity takes from many realms, not just Earth's realms.. so how would it not follow lore if there was an "alien" survivor?

  • @UntilValhalla13 said:

What else would they be, though? Ash is still human. He just had to cut his hand off with a chainsaw when it got "corrupted".

Actually, if you read the lore in the times, it mentions that the entity takes from many realms, not just "ours"... So why not a survivor that isn't human?

  • @StutteringSpartan said:

    No.

MM will be fixed, they’ve stated this. Reverting only invites bullying at lower ranks again. It’s why they implement the current rank reset.

    That and to stop boosting

If it was to stop boosting... Why do I face so many survivors that are obviously boosted? How about facing rank 1/2 killers that are certainly boosted?

Oh yeah! Because with the rank reset change, it became easy for boosted @$$ players to stay in red ranks.

I'm a killer main. I play a bit of survivor, but I'd say I'm at BEST rank 7 material... Yet here I am, back at red ranks.

The original rank reset wasn't that bad, because good players would be back at purple/red ranks within a few days.

I'd reset all the way back to 18, and be rank 1 within a week. But as survivor, I'd rarely hit red ranks... Now, I'm red rank often, and shouldn't be, all because of the way they changed rank reset.

  • Yes, but that explains why THEY ended up against a rank 18 when they were rank 7... But it doesn't explain why a solo queue rank 6 would be in that rank 19 killer lobby as well.

  • I know how it is man. I'm a killer main, but while playing survivor for a ritual, I looped Doc for 5 minutes straight, then used Deliverance/DS right out the gate, with Unbreakable/Sprint Burst waiting as backup...

Just to find out he was rank 18. Im rank 6, and wasn't partied with anyone. It was stupid.

These were all from today. If you can add the check for survivors is it possible to add it for generators? It feels very bad and for instance in the last one I was only JUST able to get there in time to stop the cleansing, but very few other killers could have done that.

I completely agree about doing something about totem spawns. I love Devour meme games. BUT your idea may cause more harm than good in smaller maps especially.

Hear me out... Sometimes survivors spawn spread out. And sometimes they don't spawn right next to gens. This means that having a LOS setup for gens, could cause totems to become more tightly concentrated in certain areas. If the gens are scattered randomly, and survivors are scattered randomly, it can cause less randomness for other items, such as hooks and totems.

It seems to me that having multiple items, all of which both killers and survivors want to be more random, has caused all items to be less random.

Just my thoughts. I love the Hex Trapper, Demo, or Hag. Or even Overcharge/Lullaby Huntress or Nurse.

Just silly stuff. Because of the "randomness" of item spawns, including totems, I've never really put much faith into using Ruin even.

Their steam profiles checked - all 4 swf. I barely just instal game (50hours played). I read some post about new matchmaking cooming but i still wonder how new matchmaking will fix lack of killers. There will be always too many skilled survivals vs low number of skilled killers. So no matter what devs bring on table, this situation will happen again right? I wanna ask veteran killers how where you find motivation to play next match when you see games are so unfair? Thank you for your answers. I like a game so far, but will feel free to move to another one, if matchmaking will be not fixed....

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/184/ZFAP0ANYAGZN.png

Ok, I'm a rank 3 survivor, rank 1 killer... And the thing I can tell you is that it really depends on your attitude.

    1) I play killer for the challenge. I'm the type that enjoys feeling challenged, and I know growth comes from losing, not winning. I've always learned more from getting wrecked, than I have from wrecking faces. And now, it's to the point that the only challenge I have is against a good swf group. And that's because of all the losing.

2). Make your own terms for victory. I don't ever go into a match expecting to 4k. I go into a match, knowing that if I get 20k+ BP and a safety pip, I'm happy. You don't have to 4k every match to win. Hell, I've gotten 1-2k so often, but had fun doing it.

Just keep your head up, learn from your mistakes, and move on to the next game. And if you're extremely competitive, go on YouTube, and watch Ussylis, OhTofu, Ardetha, TheKing, and Puppets... And don't just watch the killer mains. You'll learn a lot about how to kill good survivors by watching survivor mains play.

So yeah.. be persistent, keep your head up, and remember that this is a game first and foremost. You'll get the hang of it in no time. Especially facing survivors that skilled.

I've played since 2016 and i get as much kills as back then. Difference is that survivors sweat today much more. In 2016 chases took much longer but it wasn't unordinary that first gen took 3 minutes to pop. But yeah devs have definitely reduced stress from the killers side because it's generally harder to bully killer. I still think that is good change because survivors who knew how to abuse that window could cost you the entire game. It should be called either god loop or semi infinite

Yeah, but how many survivors on your average team know how to abuse that window without making mistakes? 1? 2?

I've found that if they make it through twice without being hit, I'll peel off, hook another survivor, put pressure on, and use this time to pull the good runner out of their safety net.

It works MOST of the time.

The biggest mistake I make seems to be chasing one person for too long. I've made a 30 second rule... If I haven't at least hit then in 30 seconds, I peel off and patrol gens.

  • @GrannyonAcid said:

I'm curious as well. I see a lot of posts on here saying that killers have it easy. I've been playing survivor the last few days and I'd say that 3-4 people escape in 9 out of 10 games. I don't see this killer being strong thing.

Killer is strong, if you know what you're doing. Just like survivor, Killers are more useful if setup correctly. Now, I can't remember my stats from when I played on PC, but I currently have 3200ish kills, and 500ish escapes.. I say this to point out I play killer a LOT more than survivor.

    I'm rank 2 survivor, and I was rank 1... I definitely, definitely didn't see this 80%+ winrate.

I hate to be the one to say "git gud"... But the fact is that a lot of killers I see while doing survivor challenges make mistake after mistake. The biggest mistake? Chasing a survivor for 2-3 gens. If a chase lasts more than 30 seconds, peel off and patrol gens.

If you're having problems, go on YouTube or Twitch, and watch killer mains play. I'm not the best around, but I do get 2-4k per game, without sweating too much. And it's because I learned from others, and I learn from my mistakes.

  • @mutante said:

I think it's a nice moment to make data public now... My guess these win rates are between 85%-90% right?

I undestand that theses changes do not afect bad survivors, as they don't know how to abuse game design, but it's a necessary change to deal with the "almost invincible" survivors.

It would be really nice to see win rates before and after map reworking! Actually, you guys should make something to keep it public because it's a good source to stop/continue some discussions. And with data, it's easier to change people opinion because they can see the big picture.

    Cheers!

Ok... I'm a killer main, Rank 1, who mostly versus rank 1-3 survivors. I promise you that you're lying about the stats, or you're misinformed.

I get at least a 2k in almost every game, and 3-4k more often than not. There's no way that the survival rate is as you say it is. Maybe the survivors in YOUR games have a high survival rate?

Of course, since this post involves the Hex: Ruin nerf, I'd guess you used it as a crutch for slowdown. I never did in the first place.

Stop complaining, practice and play try hard if you have to, and get better. My guess is that you're also one of the many killers I see that give up when a few gens pop with no downs.

Well, it's about the same story here. I remember having to sweat a lot more for kills. I remember that window leading to a jungle gym, with a 2 pallet loop right next to it.

It was absolutely ridiculous back then. Oh, and then the glitch getting stuck inside pallets when a survivor stunned ya... Jeez. It's gotten soooo much easier.

    So much better.

Actually there's apparentely supposed changes to a wide variety of maps this mid chapter. Not just ironworks.

I wonder what killers will complain about next. 2020 is looking good for then atm

    This!

Us killer mains have had it great lately. Ruin is better than before and has more synergy perks for any killer complaining about that.

I've been a killer main long enough to remember double pallets at every loop, as well as vacuum pallets. As soon as those got changed, and then DS got changed... This became a killers game.

I personally think that any killer main complaining about the state of the game, hasn't been playing long enough to know how good we have it. 😂

  • And how's that? I've been here through several ranking systems. I've been through horrible times for killers.

The ONLY time I have to work hard for kills is versus a 4 man SWF. Had one this morning. Had them all down after the first gen popped. A kobe saved them. It was a fun, stressful 20 minute game that ended with a 4k.

The amazing part is that when I gave them all kudos via message for a game well played, there was no salt. We partied up, talked for a while, and it was fun times.

The only time I ever struggled as killer was back when we had 2 pallets at every loop, and survivors could vacuum themselves through them

Hell, I remember getting stuck inside pallets as killer.

But now... Killer is easy. When the only time it's stressful is against a team with good communication and a couple good Loopers... We're in a good spot for killers.

And anybody can disagree. We all have our own opinions. I just think the constant complaining is ridiculous. I think most killer mains that have been here from the start will agree that we're in a better spot than ever. It's mostly killers that started after vaccums and double pallets that complain consistently.

But hey.. you do you. I'll just keep on getting better and wrecking faces.

Lol watch otz hillbilly vid when every survivor was in arms reach the whole game and gens still flew..then you'll know why I say what I do..gens still go by way too fast on the new maps which are the devs modeling plan..and even then..what? We wait six years for map reworks which solve nothing at all? Lol

I tend to disagree about the map changes, or how horrible it is for killers. You said you've been here over 2 years. I just hit a little over 3. I remember every loop having 2 pallets instead of 1. I remember the vacuum pallets. Those 2 things were utter hell. Much worse than anything these days.

I play on XBox mostly these days, as my good comp took a crap, and I'd rather save money wisely. And I'll tell you, killer controls are harder on console. And I still regularly 4k. Even against the swf hitsquads I face from time to time, I'll get 2-3k.

Now, that's more than 50% killrate. Even with how "horrible" the state of this game supposedly is. Seriously. Look up videos of what DbD was in 2016/17. It's gotten much, MUCH better for us killer than it once was.

Edit: While I mostly main Huntress, I still consistently get 2-3k on Wraith, Demo, and Trapper. Heck, did a ritual with Hag last night, and got a 4k, Merciless, with 31,900 BP. Yeah, it's rough for killers bro.

tbf I know these hits. But its a problem of the hitboxes and latency, what not only screws you over when playing survivor. I dont see why or how they should nerf iri heads. Its rarely used, ultra rare, needs the belt to be good, is skill dependent and can be countered like every one of huntress' hatchets. I think a change to it would put that addon really fast into the trashcan. I dont mind if the devs consider it that game breaking and change it. But imo its totally fine.

I for the most part agree with you. I play Xbox, main Huntress. I have roughly 950 hours as just Huntress, although I play other killers here and there, and Survivor enough for challenges.

But in that time, I've used Iri Heads and Belt maybe once every 50-60ish hours. I've used it ONCE against a team of toxic trolls that I'd faces before, and I wanted vengeance.

Since I play survivor quite a bit, I've always found it more important to have fun. I try to get 3 hooks off each survivor, even walking across map just to let them unhook.

And I tend to get 3k pretty regularly. Having said this, and pumping roughly 100m BP into Huntress... I have over 40 Ebony's, and about 90 Iri heads. Just waiting for those SWF Death Squads. 😂

  • @SleepyWillo said:

It is rough but its so rewarding when you actually get it! You get a real sense of... achievement.

Don't be so insecure and sensitive, did I offend you or something, am I not allowed to express my feelings?

I just don't understand why you all are complaining about challenges that require you to do NOTHING extra. Literally complete your objective as either survivor or killer.

Were you playing back in 2018's Lunar event? Because I'd love to see your posts from THAT challenge. Lmao

  • I'm sorry... I tried to follow this, but I can't really understand what you've written there.

Can you clarify it at all?

  • If you want just gore and a Devil's Rejects vibe, I'd say Billy.

If you want a wilderness adventure, Huntress.

    A gory psychological thriller? Doctor

But personally... I would love to see a movie for Trapper. Samination Style. 😂😂😂

  • Lmao... Ok. Killer main here.

I'm just saying... As a killer main with a killer:survivor game ratio of 6:1... I was able to get past this challenge in 6 games, and I'm not a good survivor.

You guys are complaining about a challenge that is ALREADY YOUR OBJECTIVE. Your goal as survivor is to escape, and you get a challenge with the same goal?

And this is why this game gets nerfed and buffed into the dirt. Survivors cry about how hard Survivor stuff is, so the devs cater to them. Then killers cry about how hard killer stuff is, then the devs cater to them.

And we end up with a constant seesaw of nerfs and buffs. If you guys spent less time complaining, and more time playing, you might get good at the game. Ever think of that?

  • In all honesty, I don't find killer stressful. At all. I aim to have fun, and as a killer main, I always do. I figure 2k and 25k+ BP is a win for me, and that's easy to get.

Now, the most fun, I'd have to say Wraith, Spirit, or Trapper. Trapper and Wraith I always play for the meme. And Spirit... Well, she's the easy setting for playing killer. Lol

But really, if you're feeling STRESSED while playing a game, it's your mentality stressing you, not the game. And if playing killer stresses you a lot, and is just to hard...

Well, that's why we have survivor mains. 😉

Never heard Skillbilly used in a bad way.

And Billy doesn't take skill? lol, whenever I try to play Billy the survivors teabag and tell me to uninstall the game. Insta saw maybe, but a lot of killers don't take skill if you use the best add-ons every game.

I've usually heard Skillbilly used to refer to Billies that only use their chainsaw, as opposed to Millies who use the chainsaw mostly for mobility and usually just M1 in chases.

Best response so far. To me, a Skillbilly is someone who has learned to use Billy to his full potential.

And he isn't easy to master. He's easy to use, and simple to understand. His skullcap is huge though. I bet the peeps saying he takes no skill, have 5 games as killer, tops. 😂

  • @DeathsCrimsonMaiden said:

I sincerely hope that this gets noticed by BHVR, because the issues killers are facing are seriously ridiculous.

This is probably going to be a long post, and I don't plan on making a Tl;dr, so buckle up.

Does anyone see the issue with Tru3 and Otz making alot of videos along the lines of "TOXIC SWEATY RANK 1 SMURF CRINGE 4 MAN SWF VS DOC"? Doesn't that kinda conflict with the game looking to be "casual pvp"? Also, why do they feel it is such a big accomplishment to go against optimal survivors? Doesn't that mean that kind of imply that survivors have the uppers hand? I don't think they are just catering to a bunch of bad killers, since he reaches well over 100k on these videos.

I took a break from Dbd for a while, and got back to playing Apex Legends. I actually felt like I had an equal opportunity against my opponent, even if they had a better gun, or a better body shield, or even better addons. It felt amazing being able to outplay an entire squad, and that got me thinking.

Dbd lacks a LOT of outplaying.

There is no skill in running from safe, un-mindgameable pallet to pallet. There is no skill in taking a full 30 seconds to get from one gen to another. There is no skill in the survivor dead harding to a pallet to avoid getting downed.

There is so little that the killer can really do besides run in circles and waste their time. The game doesn't give the killer equal opportunity to outplay the survivors.

I have a challenge for every person that plays killer regularly: Play another pvp game. Try it out for a while, take a break from this game. Apex Legends, Destiny 2, Fortnite, Smash bros, almost any other online pvp game really. It feels so much better than playing killer.

It would be kind of silly to bring up these issues without solutions, however, i've been able to identify the biggest hindrances to Killer v Survivor balance. Map design, Perks, and Items.

Map design is for the most part awful. I think a great example of how not to make a map is the corn maps. They have all the things that create a bad killer map: An easily accessible, strong center structure, un-mindgameable pallet loops, loops being too close to each other, and the map itself being huge. It is no wonder these maps have the highest survival rate (55%). The changes that need to be made to this map in particular are simple. Balance the center structure's windows, create an in-game value to help prevent the randomizer from putting loops to close to eachother, add more to standard loops to make them more mindgameable (i.e putting hay bales in the tractors, making other structures taller), and making the map smaller. Small maps are good for killers AND survivors since it promotes more interaction between the two, which is more skillful, and it rewards strong loopers, while killers don't lose too much gen time simply because the walk there is so long (which isn't skillful)

This check list for making sure maps aren't too powerful for survivors would dramatically change how killer feels. The only reason people used Ruin so much was because of terrible map design. Ruin's nerf was just another bad band-aid fix that addresses very few aspects of a bigger problem.

I think survivor's perks having a somewhat greater effect than killer's is justified. It would be boring if all the perks had a similar effect like killer's (Bitter Murmur v. Dark Sense), but... survivors have items to compensate for the lack of an ability. It's literally in the same slot area as killer, so wouldn't that be kinda unjust to have really powerful survivor perks? The best perks killer have are usually aura reading (Bbq, Nurses), or things that help in a chase (Enduring + Spirit Fury is almost mandatory at high ranks) while survivors have not only multiple second chance perks (Dh, Ds), but also perks that can cripple the killer's pressure by performing actions by themselves that would regularly require another survivor (Unbreakable, Deliverance) Survivors already have abilities in the form of items, should they really have insanely powerful perks?

Hell, the items themselves are problematic. I know they are looking into changing toolboxes, but I have a really high feeling it's just going to be something marginal like making the skill checks smaller. Almost every item works to make the killer's pressure less effective. Med-kits, Toolboxes, Flashlights, and The Survivor's version of moris, the ######### Keys.

I want this game to do well, there is no other cat and mouse game like Dead by Daylight. If I wanted to watch this game flop into irrelevancy, I wouldn't have typed all of this up. Give killers just a nudge, we have been needing that whole asymmetry deal lol.

Ok... I'm guessing that you haven't been playing for too long. And as for Tru3 and Otz... Of course their videos are titled as negatively as possible. It's called clickbait.

Now, I've been a killer main since the game came out on Xbox, and I can tell you that it is a LOT easier for killers than it used to be. And here we are, with more complaining on forums.

Every complaint thread I see is ridiculous. I played 7 games as killer last night. 2 as Spirit, 2 as Huntress, 1 as Clown, 1 as Wraith, 1 as Trapper.

In EVERY game, I got a MINIMUM of 3k. And with both the Clown and Wraith, I got a 4k. And the Clown match was a 4 man swf.

I really, really wish that people would adapt to the game, instead of coming here and ranting. It's ridiculous. "Gens are too fast!"... Run a 3 gen strat. You don't need to protect all gens. Just protect the ones closest.

"The Ruin nerf made it too hard for killers."... I never relied on Ruin, therefore I learned how to stop rushes instead of relying on a totem to do it for me.

Basically, no matter what, you can always improve. But you'll never improve by crying for "fixes".

Sorry, but all these threads crying about how unbalanced everything is... Are obviously players that haven't been around for long. This game is WAY more balanced than it was when I started. Quit crying, and play the dang game. Maybe you'll get better.

Survivor main here. I agree killer side was very frustrating for me until I spent a day meme gaming as killer and now I've learned to not care about winning the current match. I go in with my own agenda. Like drift king billy no addons, or overdoing moonwalking, or rotating constantly. Ironically by learning wacky playstyles I'm improving faster than I did playing normally. By being greedy for the immediate win, you don't explore enough, which means you don't learn enough for the long-term.

Just an observation. My heart goes out to the killer mains out there. I know how frustrating it can be. Somehow getting hit through dead hard and face camped isn't as frustrating as playing killer.

I appreciate the sympathy, but you sir have more sympathy than I do, and I'm a killer main. It just seems to me that the majority of players that use forums, just want to complain until something or another gets nerfed or buffed, instead of practicing, persevering, and adapting.

People want this instant gratification of winning right away. I didn't start reliably "winning" as killer til I hit 500 hours... And at 1400 now, and can still get wrecked by a good team.

Really, killer is for those who WANT the challenge. If people can't handle stress, they shouldn't play killer. Lol

  • @YukariTheAlpaca said:

I really just wanna give up with this mess of a game. The gen speeds are so ridiculous that every damn match I have played so far just results in a 4 man escape in the first 5-6 minutes. No amount of slugging (especially since it was nerfed) or pressure can stop it. I will get quick downs, does it matter? nope. Game over. I don't even get to play and cannot even counter it. No amount of slugging or pressure can stop it. I'd rather just take the MM ban than play another match where I get to lose for basically free.

It really isn't that bad... But it really depends on what killer you're using. I main Huntress and Hillbilly, and regularly get 2-4k games. Last night, I even got a 4k using Clown, as well as Wraith.

The big thing is to focus on a 3 gen strat if you're using a low mobility killer.

But what killer are you using, what perks are you using, and how many hours as killer do you have?

It sounds to me like you're fairly new to playing killer. You need to adapt to the game, and not expect it to adapt to you. I've seen so many of these complaint threads since Ruin was nerfed. But in reality, Ruin was never a necessity. It helped with slowing down the game, sometimes, but that's it. In all honesty, CI and Whispers are so much more powerful than Ruin ever was.

I saw videos and of course we have it easier becuz before it was an abuse.Im just saying that game was not made for people with comns.

To me, as a killer main, it is extremely boring going against a team with no comms. Yes, it gets sweaty.

But I don't pick killer when I want a relaxed game. For that, I pick survivor. When I play killer, it's because I want a challenge, and without comms, it's not much of a challenge.

The ONLY time I don't get 3-4k is if I'm playing Hag, or of I'm against a good group of survivors with comms.

  • @Primalux135 said:

Wanna know it? Maybe in 2-3 years we will have a fair game. Why?

-Becuz there are tons of maps to change and defo speed isnt one of BHVR virtues.

-Killer have to be buffed according the survivors comms so basically they will rework all obsolete killers (trapper, wraith, pig, leatherface...) and then buff em all.

So yeah 2-3 years to solve it.

And I wonder why devs were adding SWF without adding slowly the changes to fix it. No idea🤷🏻‍♂️

I was wondering... How long have you played?

Us killers have it a LOT easier than when I started out 3 years ago. Buffs and needs alternate and change all the time.
