Ok then please explain the lag switching nurse i just went against who hit all of us from the other side of the map even though we all had decent ping

They fixed the bug that sucked you to the window, while that really helps, lag switching and vpning killers still exist

Not sure how it's relevant to what I said. Lagswitching is completely another matter.

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

Ok and? Survivors can get hit 17 miles away from the window

I think the devs mentioned that things like this will be fixed soon

No they can't. It's been fixed. If you get hit far from the window then it's only your ping to blame. Pay attention to patch notes.

  • So I found a thread on "some" forum with lagswitching hack and I am not going to post it here though it seems some people prefer to see it as a bug🤡. Here's another example of it in action https://www.twitch.tv/theentitylefthand/clip/UnusualObeseMarjoramTheThing?filter=clips&range=7d&sort=time

I @Peanitswould love to just dm that thread to @Peanits but it seems you can't dm on this forum. Please tell me something is being done about it.

@MrCookie empirical evidence is still subject to human error, such as those stats. this has been said by many people many times including the devs. someone literally said above that by those stats nurse is also the weakest killer in the game. i suppose you blindly believe that too?

Lol. How are supposed to discuss anything if you disregard any evidence and look for excuses.

  • @BumBumOReily said:

i'm gonna have to agree with @YaiPa here. the Game is easily one of the better survivor maps and relying on your personal experience isn't proof to the contrary @Devildog0341Va

by your own logic the Game is actually strong because i usually escape on this map 9/10. this is why anecdotal evidence is just that. it's anecdotal not empirical and that makes it unreliable too.

rng spawns are easy to learn, it can spawn a longwall junglegym, has a long version of the tl wall and on top of that, as you've noted, every pallet with the exception of 1 maybe 2 are unmindgameable. let's also not forget the meat pipe vault with a pallet below, and the freezer room vault which can link up with 2 god pallets.

nurse is the only exception because it's literally a map folded on itself and nurse does well on all maps cos nurse.

Well you have your empirical evidence in stats https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106566/

Are you going to argue with it with anecdotal evidence then?

  • Can we please hear from @Peanits . Sorry for constant @ but this discussion is about a potential hack\exploit and what might be causing it. Especially considering that I reported these two survivors for hacking (it's been a week and no one looked at my report tickets😧). I want to know if I was right to do it and if it's even acknowledged to be an issue.

it doesn't matter the outcome, I could still 4k every match but the map is strong for survivors.

figure this, back in the days survivors still accomplished to lose in a coldwind map, despite there were a ######### ton of pallets, every god loop was untouched and in every tile survivors could see the killer for the entire time. Even if survivors lost it doesn't mean that the map was balanced at all.

Of course you can win on any map but obiviously there are maps favouring survirors or killers. And I think devilboy1234603 explained why very well.

    @YaiPa said:

according to the stats nurse is the worst killer. The worst thing you can do with stats is instantly jump to conclusions, without considering other variables...

How else can interpret map stats? Are you going to argue that Hadonfield is actually good for killers too? Because according to stats it's one of the worst maps for killers too. So it all matches.

    Here are stats. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106566/

  • @YaiPa said:

the map has literally 4 certain super strong pallets condensed in one area plus the other rng based locations aren't remotely hard to learn and still those pallets are strong and it has a rng based super safe gen, so no, it's one of the strongest survivors maps.

According to stats I think the Game was one of the best maps for killer. And I think the same. These 4 pallets mean jack ######### when the rest of the map is not save. It is small and it is very easy to control the gens. If you think it's a survivor map then you are either not a very good killer or too biased or don't play survivor.

  • I thinking that it can mess up killer\survivor interactions and I think Raulillo might be right. Still waiting for some answers.

The game can be so easy. Like there is no other variable than time

Pretty much. It's the only resource killers have. And they win it by pressuring survivors or thank to survivors mistakes.

Come on man, with all due respect, the doctor did not play well at all.

On top of that you also used the most broken building in the entire game to win the first chase.

At the T wall you should have been hit by a decent doctor, at the next pallet he swung through the pallet misjudging the distance pretty badly.

That was not a competent doctor, he wasn't shocking at the right moments.

The addons he was using were brown, so the shock range was limited and the build was questionable, since using a tracking perk on a tracking killer isn't optimised at all.

You folks played well and deserved the win, still this does NOT satisfy my definition of a competent doctor.

    Good game anyway

Let me spell it for you. If you and your team plays well you are likely to win against any killer. Now you just start finding excuses.

The addon combo is busted, fair enough.

  • @Raulillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1322730#Comment_1322730

With constant high latency I think the only thing could happen is seeing them hooked a while after the animation. All the actions are delayed in the same amount as the latency they have. So you can still hook them before they struggle out because the struggle has to be checked by the server too.

I think this problem you had is not related to network problems, but it could be related to some code that trust the client instead of the server. This weird things happen when you trust the client data instead of servers.

I think you might be right with that "weird things happen when you trust the client data instead of servers". That's why I am saying it's something that needs to be adressed.

I am politely asking you again, provide evidence of a survivor being able to counter a competent doctor in a loop.

With skills being comparable the doctor can remove your counteplay and that's not ok

Here you go. Played and taken by me today in solo queue all red ranks. https://youtu.be/GLUfieBY6EM

You can imagine what all meta perks team and SWF can do to him. And don't say "It was a bad killer". Any killer played well will be difficult ot play against, doctor or not.

  • @Raulillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1322713#Comment_1322713

Because with VPN the increase is permanent and constant through all game. Lagswitching if I understand what it is (that's the thing i'm not sure about) just increase and decrease the latency at random to create an unstable connection.

I guess once the see that they can't win or feel like cheating they just turn it on and it just becomes consistent lag. So no real need to create random spikes if you can just keep it.

  • @Raulillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1322671#Comment_1322671

I haven't work with network that much but I think VPN and lagswitching are not the same kind of problem. VPN increases your latency so it increases certain effects like position perspective and interpolation errors while predicting your actions in the other clients.

Lagswitching should be more like lag spikes that could cause weird changes of behaviour due to big errors while predicting the actions, but it shouldn't affect nothing while being carried to a hook.

How is "increases your latency" not a part of lagswitching? It's the same and can be done either with turning on VPN or probably something else. As to why this affects killer interaction we both can't know for sure and just speculating. That is why I am trying to get some answers.

  • It is annoying but the game was probably lost if it came to that so I am not sure why would you stress yourself over one kill.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1322369#Comment_1322369

There's nothing to clear up. It is a SERVER or CONNECTION bug. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a lag switch to work in that way on a dedicated server. It would literally only work against the survivor, it would give them zero advantage.

I can guarantee you I have more networking experience than Peanits. That's why he's a community manager, and I work in Laval, administering a network for a medical outlet.

I am very glad that you have a lot networking experience but it is not GAME related. And I am calling for @Peanits not because he is supposed to know everything but because he can ask within the dev team.

If it were impossible to lagswitch we wouldn't have any problems with VPN Killers right? Wrong. Survivors suffer from VPN killers the same way killers can suffer from lagswitching survivors.

And look at my previous message as to why it is not a bug.

  • Was it something like that? https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/157556/lagswitching-survivors-on-dedicated-servers

I am also waiting for the asnwer what the hell is that. It's not a bug since it has not been acknowledged as such by devs.

Ok, i took this with a wrong approach, rancor needs a rework in general. Its not good, rarely used and can be made worldwide to survs with noed and an ebony. Its sole purpose right now is to go after one guy at the end for one free kill. Its not worth the perk slot and just screws over the obsession in all scenarios, its not that its unbalanced or op, its not good nor fun on either side. Apologies for a poor start, i was salty after being forced with rancor after running a spirit all game without even being hit only to get instadeath

You might be right but unfortunately there are so many perks that need rework I don't think we will see this one reworked because it's not as trashy as monstrous shrine or relentless for example.

  • @Jasonisanicefella said:

I don't see anything wrong with having good, strong killers in the roster.

I main legion and billy, and when I am sick of being beaten as legion I use billy to get some groove back.

The difference is that when doctor is used correctly there is really not much you can do about it, and that really destroys the fun of a match.

It's not the DOCTOR, it's the addon's. Pretty sure if they just increase charge time of High Stimulus Electrode this will be fixed. But doctor is fine and is counterable. I guess this specific combo of addons might be too strong. But people claiming Doctor has no counter just need to play better I guess or even better play doctor on red ranks for a while and see all counters for themselves.

  • @Jasonisanicefella said:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fli3C5llK4

Can we actually spend a moment to fully grasp how toxic and un-counterable is doctor when used correctly and with good addons?

I was under the impression that the rework was made to make doctor less annoying to verse, but the results are the opposite.

Also, before the super pros come in and say "just dodge the shock bro!" please do show me video evidence of you versing a good doctor at red ranks and dodging the shocks while maintaining an optimal path in a loop.

Last time I asked nobody was able to show anything, let's see what you have this time

How do you counter Huntress and Deathslinger who shut down loops? And he played with potato survivors as you saw.

And what is TOXIC here? Good addons?

  • I guess the only reason to say anything like that is if you two hid all game without touching gens for 1o minutes or something like that but he could easily end the game once he found the third guy so I guess he was just salty and dumb. Probably wanted his 4k too much.

  • How is being to insta down and kill ONE person at the END of the game is unbalanced? It's a ######### Noed. If your fun is only escaping then you should only play SWF and bring keys with you. This perk sucks so much almost no one uses it. I am sure you've started this thread because you or your friend got killed because of Rancor but guess what, I bet you won't see it anytime soon again (unless you play against the same guy).

Would you be so kind as to show me the bug thread with this issue with "acknowledged" tag to it? Found a lot of threads about it with similar issue and not a single one of them was "acknowledged". Meaning that it is not a bug, devs don't care or devs don't know what it is. Please enlighten me.

  • Don't let them get in your head. You don't need to reason with them (no use anyway) and argue. To be honest I enjoy salty comments especially when I played as fair as possible.

I don't understand what's so bad about healing against Legion?

I've gone against many Rank 1 Legions and we've always healed and escaped. But then I hear these """"high ranked"""" players laughing at the ones that do heal saying "whY dO yOu heAL aGainSt lEgiOn?"

Makes no sense since I've made it to Rank 1 with no issue healing against Legion.

Not to say you're wrong but you probably haven't made to Rank 1 just by playing only against Legion.😀 Different killers require different approach.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1322335#Comment_1322335

That's not how dedicated servers work. Not every survivor is on the same connection, using the same line to connect to said server. It could also be something broken in the link between the survivor and the server; and yes it can happen to just one survivor.

All the convenient times seem to be when more network activity would happen that needs registering, like score events during chases.

Perhaps do some due diligence before accusing people of lag switching. There are a number of plausible explanations. Especially since lag switching literally doesn't work that way on dedicated servers; and no survivor would do it intentionally because it would only put them at a disadvantage.

I have played this game since 2016 so you don't need to tell me about dilligence. I have encountered it when there were no dedicated servers and I know what it is though it was mostly used by killers. If you haven't encountared it in your whole playtime it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

You just saw an example of how it works and how survivors benefit from it. Do you want to say that being able to 1. wiggle free any time 2. Lock killer preventing him from interacting with anything - is a disadvantage??? I left the game after that because there was no use playing with this BS. I only regret not saving the end game chat.

And I am still waiting for some response from @Peanits at least. Maybe he could clear it up.

  • I mean self-caring against legion IS mostly bad. You're right. If you just self-care everytime he deep wounds you, you win the game for him because you give time and apply pressure on yourself. Because he can undo all your team self caring in one Frenzy. Not to mention that self-care is usually bad in high ranks. I am suprised that legion got 1k if your team self cared all the time. Though doing gens on big maps counters him I guess.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1321029#Comment_1321029

As I said, that could have EASILY been down to the potato servers BHVR has deployed for their game. I've literally been told that I did the same thing by killers.

It could have been BUT only if it happened to every survivor in the match. When it's a specific survivor at specific convenient times I can't understand how you can account it to "potato servers".

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

How would a survivor lag switching impact your ability to hook them? If they "hit the switch" then their communication with the server is "lagged". It can't effect yours unless they had access to your WiFi. You would be able to hook just fine. This is more about how crappy the servers are than anything else.

It would have more impact on you as killer while chasing them. They would have a cut in communication with the server, then re-establish. It could cause missed swings at a shadow, but even then it likely hurt them more than you.

On the other hand, the old lagswitch killer was the host, and therefore could effect the entire map and anyone connected to it.

Could you watch the video and see for yourself? The same for @Frankie

  • It does exist both for Killers (VPN) and survivors (lag switching)

    Here's an example https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/157556/lagswitching-survivors-on-dedicated-servers#latest

  • I would like to hear what devs have to say about that.

  • Play for fun and anything not meta.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1320113#Comment_1320113

    1. I meant you don't know when someone looks at your reports. There's nothing to indicate that they did or didn't.
    2. I didn't see anything that indicated lagswitching, just clips of a killer unable to hook a survivor. That's an old bug that appears to have resurfaced.
    3. I've encountered this before as a survivor, where I was unable to wiggle and the killer was unable to hook me. It's a bug.
    4. Alright.
    5. A bad one. Monto should know better. Besides, according to what you said in 2 and 3, this would be Monto lagswitching, right? Why would he record himself lagswitching?
    6. Survivors would lagswitch so they can't wiggle free? That makes no sense. Might as well lagswitch as a killer so you can't catch survivors.
    1. You do see it. It's "Last activity" tab. I have sent reports before and there were answered.
    2. I guess you haven't encountered it yet. It used to be more prevalent when there were no dedicated servers. I was suprised to see it again.
    3. It's latency issue connected to lagswitching in this case since it's been obvious.

5 Monto's was just an example not my argument. How did I say that he was lagswitching? I showed two examples of survivors lagswitching, do you read carefully? We saw how claudette lagswitched not to get hooked and to teleport around. Though she did it poorly and probably wasn't experienced in it.

Survivors WILL wiggle free. Because you can't hook them. If you don't see how it works then don't speculate. I guess I will upload the intance later so that everyone can see that lagswitching still works and not just for killers but also for survivors.

  • @Orion said:

    Not Peanits, but...

    1. You can't know when someone looks at them. You don't receive any notification.
    2. Lagswitching doesn't affect you now that there are dedicated servers. Anyone lagswitching would just ######### themselves over.
    3. The videos look like they're showing a bug, not someone hacking. The killers are clearly trying to hook the survivor, judging by how they get locked in front of the hook, the fact that the progress bar disappears, and the fact that the first killer is hitting the air in the basement seemingly out of frustration.
    4. The videos' audio suspiciously cuts out shortly after it starts. I'm guessing those killers were streaming, which makes it more suspicious you cut out the audio. Were they complaining about the fact that they couldn't hook you?
    5. Monto can't recognize a bug when he sees one, apparently, so he blames the killer for cheating. Either that or he blames the killer for cheating because facing a cheater is "more entertaining" than just being ######### over by a bug.
    6. Why would a killer cheat in a way that doesn't let survivors wiggle, but then also fail to hook those very same survivors? That's just stupid.

In conclusion, that's a bug. Should've sent in a bug report instead of a hacking report.

EDIT: Didn't realize both videos are actually from the killers' perspectives. Edited to correct that mistake.

I took these videos. It happened in my game.

    1. Not sure what you mean
    2. Lagswitching affects as you clearly saw right now. And it is bannable.
    3. I am hitting the air to check what I can do, I tried to open a locker and drop the survivor and I couldn't. Because of lagswitching it's not a bug.
    4. Radeon Live sucks and cuts the audio a tthe end. No streaming
    5. That was just an example.
    6. You pretty much answered why would survivor lagswitch.
  • It's mostly all about Master challenges. Many of them require you to ditch your main objective meaning that your whole team suffers. I can't blame players because some of them are almost completely unachievable if you play normally.

  • I have never experienced anything like it. But I have tons of people dc on their first down, against the killer they don't like etc. So stop with this BS, If you ragequit a lot work on your attitude.

  • It's 5 minute penalty. What's the big deal?

  • There are more fun things about killers despite how stressful it can be to play them. You have different playstyles and different gameplay with killers. You know that you don't need to rely on anyone and every mistake is your own.

When I play survivor I sometimes get really frustrated with my teammates and then just want to play killer instead. Survivor is fun when you have a good team and when you verse a good killer so it's not boring. And chases. Chases are the most fun. But you still have to rely on onthers to win and you don't always get good teammates.

And also queue time. Killer queue time in the evenings are instant.

  • They get fixed. When the bug impacts survivors in a negative way.

No sound bug, not being able to pick up survivors under the hook, grabs not working most of the time - who cares about that? I wish they acknowledged these bugs and told us what are they doing about them.

  • Le'ts see what's the harm for consoles because there is no for PC players.

    Bad things for console survivors:

    1. Good Huntresses, Nurses, Deathslingers (because it's hard to aim on consoles). PC players have dealth with that just fine so I don't see any problems with that.

    2, ######### 30 fps - Ok that is a problem though it's playable.

    Bad things for console Killers:

1, Survivors 360 - which is a problem only once because it's always unexpected. PC killers also fall for this and you just need to be more careful once you saw survivor do it.

So if anyone wants to add any more reasons I would like to hear it. I don't play on console so I have no idea why would anyone refuse to have faster and fairer matchmaking.

  • WIthout plunders the chance is small and probably similar to a kobe. It doesn't happen nearly often enough to justify any nerfs, Just take the loss and move on.

If 3 survivors can escape, it means they've done 4 gens. At that point, they'll probably finish the 5th gen and escape anyway. It's not the big of a deal at that point and it rarely happens anyway. Killers have moris, survivors have keys. At least survivors don't have iridescent heads.

    And this.

As for endgame builds you always risk when you run them,

  • It happens for me when I have the tab with the forum opened for a long time and don't use it.

  • BBQ - for points and info.

Discordance - great synergy with killer power and punishes SWF

Ruin\PGTW - I prefer ruin because if survivors don't find and you constantly injure them then you will A LOT of time on your hands.

4th is up to you. If you expect genrush or a hard game then NoED because injured survivors usually don't do totems.

not anymore, it used to since it was considered a basic attack that set a survivor to injured with deep wounds but they changed it so now it works like demogorgons pounce when it comes to interacting with perks.

You do lose Play with your food stacks. You don't lose Save the best for last stacks.

  • If that person repteadly sandbags then report with video proof and that person will get banned.. Thanks to collision survivors can bodyblock and save each other. So it sounds like a nerf to survivors actually.

  • You will get caught by design, so you can't run forever, I agree. But if the killer just camps you then your team should be able to escape and if you play SWF then even more so.

What other punishent do you want for campers? Do you want McCote to come to their house and kick them in the shin? Camping killers lose pips and BPs. And if the killer is red rank most likely he doesn't camp too much. You can't get to red ranks just by camping. If it annoys you so much just play SWF.

    in Unfair Comment by MrCookie
  • Man, if you want to be able to pull the plug every time you feel violated then just don't play the game. Don't cover it with "######### wifi" bs.

If you have ######### connection then too bad. ######### connection is a problem in any game and only you can fix it. Just deal with it.

  • Getting a perk just to see better when it may not help at all seems detrimental. Like I have FOV 90 why would I need more? The only exception is Nurse who feels blind without it when blinking.

  • I guess for the same reason people get hit when the hatchet is 10 metres away from them.
