I mean, playing better players is HOW you get good. And rank is meaningless. Soooooo.....
Git Gud?
Are you going to improve your boxing skills if you are matched against Floyd Maywather? My guess you are going to get you face smashed in. That's the equivalent of brown ranks vs red ranks.
-
If you get flashlighted then that's your fault. Flashlight saves now require to know the timing and the killer not facing a wall. If you often get flashlighted just face the wall when picking up someone and if you can't, just look around for people with a flashlight before piciking up. If someone has a flashlight you are likely to get a FREE HIT. So most of the time the flashlight save is well deserved and this is the case of you needing to be better.
Clicky-clicky are indeed annoying though.
-
How is doctor can cheese it? He has to work for it you don't inflict madness nearly as fast as you used to. And how is healing survivors from downed state is different from healing at all? It is the same action so it makes sense it works this way. Being in DW status and being in madness 3 at the same time is such a rare case that's it's not even worth talking at all. It's not an issue.
-
This game turns people into "us vs them" mentality. You can easily categorise people into "survivors" and "killers" (though there are plenty of people being both). So you don't have to be angry at specific players you can rant about the "enemy" side and blame them for everything wrong with the game.
And being a killer you always get these type of messages because some players don't feel like they've won unless they escape (even if the pipped). And you are not just another player like in CS or Dota or LOL. You are THE ENEMY so that's why there are toxic people. You don't get that from killers most of the time, they just do their job and forget about you.

Okay yea I just checked his add-ons, I swear there was one that made it take longer to Snap Out.
Regardless all that needs to happen is you miss one skill check or get interrupted and now you can't finish the action before you go down. It's just dumb. Give me a reason why it should work that way? Where the survivor basically has no option but to just go down? It's completely unfair. It doesn't hurt Doc at all to have the DW timer pause when you have to Snap Out because you still have to do 20+ seconds of actions before you can really do anything.
Doc got hit pretty hard with Nurse's calling nerf (he used to be able to see people snapping out) so this has already been dealt with in a way.

The player gets matched against players he is not supposed to play against. This is not a matter of getting gud. Use you brain next time.

Oh my god. You're an actual dumbass.
Story time.
I don't work with coding, programming, or audio, but my cousin does. It's all low tier stuff, indie games and the like. But he ends up with a small issue in one of his games. At one point, the sound of a foghorn was meant to play and it wouldn't. So he goes in and tries to fix it. Bear in mind, he's been doing this for 4 years and he's currently in college for it at this point in time.
He manages to find out what was wrong. According to him, he'd put the sound file in the wrong pathway. No major thing, just needs to move it to the right one. Right? Wrong. He does that, and it says there's already a file with that name. He figures it's the bad one that won't work. Maybe he copied it before and something went wrong. So he overwrites. That turned out to overwrite the file for a totally different sound. So now the game is still missing a sound. He tries to restore, and he's ecstatic when it works. But when he finally gets it fixed, there's an issue causing both files to play at the same time, EVERY time that ONE of them is meant to play.
He goes through some crazy long process to fix it, and the result was both files getting corrupted. Totally useless. Restoring them does nothing. So he goes to delete them and use his backups, only to find out his backups were saved AFTER the originals corrupted. Meaning he has no working versions of these sounds.
He had to start from scratch with those files, and after a few weeks of fixing that issue (it took him forever to convert them properly, put them where they belonged, and get the game to recognize them properly) it still played both at the same time whenever one was meant to play. To this day, he can't figure out why, and that was six years ago. He's started treating it as his "true graduation" saying that he isn't TRULY finished with his college assignments until he figures out why it's messing up. He's corrupted the files again and again, lost weeks of progress, broken dozens of other things in the game, and has had to fix each and every issue as it comes, JUST to get those two files to work properly. All to no avail. They just won't work.
All of this is very simplified. He explained it to me in detail and it threw me for several loops, so he explained it to me this way so I'd understand it. So there's a lot to this I didn't cover, simply because I couldn't. I'm no good with this stuff, and the technical terms confuse me.
And the point of this is: if my cousin, who has 10 years of experience working on this sort of thing can't fix two little files in that time because they just WON'T work together properly, I can understand DBD having to take a lot of time to fix this. We never know what's up behind the scenes, and they may have other high priority bugs that makes the game much worse than a little sound issue, or maybe the file or files for this event are set up perfectly and just WON'T work for some reason.
Don't say "it's easy". Go make a video game as big as DBD from scratch and then tell us how easy it was. Until then, buzz off and take your arrogance with you.
Fair enough. I wasn't trying to be arrogant or anything. It's just I can't get my head around one bug taking so long to fix. And since I have played a lot of games I struggle to think of any other bug taking so long to fix considering this is an impactful bug, it's not a little sound issue.. I am not even sure they acknowledge it. If they said something about it and cleared it up it would help.
But right now it's just ridiculous. It's just your and my guesses as to why it's still not fixed while devs don't comment this. We are not a bunch of sound enginners here and we are not supposed to know whether it's hard to fix or not. But we are supposed to get some communication on that and not be ignored like that.
-
Why? Just why? Just because it's hard to play around? There is no reason for that. Doctor is not OP or anything he is in a good spot. If all your team is slugged then that's on your team.

Im not defending them i just understand how it works if you believe in your mind that its so easy to fix behavior has open job applications go and apply and then come back here once you have seen the process of fixing audio files we would all love to hear how fast it took you to fix them :P
Pretty sure anyone including you and me could fix this bug in a year by ASKING around or GOOGLING or TAKING a closer look at the audio code.😅 It doesn't make any sense why this takes so long. And don't tell me sound related code is more complex than gameplay code that they have no problem fixing.

If you took the time and read my comment it is not easy to fix touching sound files can lead to even bigger issues which take even longer to fix i imagine they are still trying to find what is conflicting and or causing the issue it can take some time considering how many sound files there probably are.
Seriously? You think a year is not enough time to fix one bug? Especially when the game is 4 years old and the team is probably experienced now?

Solution for campers:
Survivors on the hook can now SCREAM. They do this by pushing the active button. Screaming will signify to teammates that the killer is STILL IN THE AREA and not to come for them. Screaming gives survivors an audio notification. This does nothing to the killer.
Yep, let's just give free kindred just because some people can't do gens or don't have BT. Surely nothing wrong with that.

That's two perks that have 0% effect if I decided to facecamp someone.
That's why doing gens is the answer. Though unless you are bubba you can't really prevent BT if the team commits to that.
-
It's suprising that this bug has been around for a long time and devs just don't give a damn. (IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR) Is it really that hard to fix? Especially when new killers get like every 3 months.

Just gonna leave this here:
At topic: All current DBD hackers are PC players. Those that appear on. XBOX or PS4 enabled crossplay allowing them to join console lobbies.
Are you serious? Why do hackers get to play with everyone but normal people don't. 😁

Although it wasn't aimed to be"buff" they fixed the vaults and now there are no BS hits through the windows. That was really annoying to deal with. So better get used to it now.

Just curious, why do you care about pipping so much?
He said he wants the achievement. Which is understandable.
-
Potato noobs are most likely get carried by SWF and if they get there themselves it means that they may not be that potato.
-
You understand that you would have to play with noobs more, right? Because if you rank 1 before the reset you will be rank 4 or 5 after it. And if you want it to be like it used to then you will have to endure even more "noobs" to get to red ranks and there will be "noobs" in red ranks just as well. So the way it is now is much better. There always will be potatoes.
-
What's your point? It is harder than SWF but nothing too crazy and if you play well you are sure to at least black pip. And what OP killers are there?
-
If toxic survivors could see the killer's name they would dodge 100% and remember any killer who was better than them. Nowadays you don't need a good reason to get into some survivor's "bad killer list". So good killers or killers that play only specific killers (like spirit or freddy) would be dodged and would have a hard time finding a game just because they are good. Killers though don't really dodge so survivors don't have this problem.
Judging by the amount of comments in my steam proifle coming from survivors I am sure that there's a big list of people that would never play against me if they had the choice just because I beat them. (Imagine having more than 200 posts of saying "-rep" and insults for all kinds of reasons) And I am sure there are killers who have pissed of much more people.
At the same time when I play survivor not A SINGLE KILLER has ever written something in my steam profile, showing that they don't really care that much. Though in post-game chat there were killers saying bad stuff about me or other survivors.

Just a warning, if you have Pop active and then Surge activates you lose Pop. Seems to be a potential bug, I wouldn't go using them together for now.
As for why survivors get weird, probably because Surge isn't use a lot and it takes a moment to realize what happened. If you are on the gen it acts like an instant failed skill check so people may look around or something to make sure they aren't lagging, because invisible/auto-fail skill checks usually only happen when you lag. It also makes the gen sparks red which is the same as Pop so if they weren't on the gen they might think you have Pop when it was actually Surge.
Haven't they fixed that with the latest patch?

David is free. He comes with double BP and dead hard. Spine chill is free. Resilience is free. That's already one of the best builds in the game almost stock, just needs iron will. Bill is free, also comes with 2 of the best perks in the entire game. So you level up david, then switch to bill, and not even 2 characters to 40 and you might already have almost a full meta survivor build. Just needs Laurie for the DS.
Killer can be a grind but with BBQ and a pudding you can be getting upwards of 80-90k BP a game. That's way more than you will ever be making as survivor in most cases. Getting 4 stacks of BBQ is way easier than 4 stacks of WGLF.
Do you really except a new player to use dead hard and WGLF? Just to get all these perks to tier 3 is a grind and you also need to get teachables.
And for killer you pretty much have to buy a DLC Killer just to get some points. And I can't imagine a new player getting even 24k. Where did you get 80-90k from? the max is 96 but that's with perfect game 4 stacks of BBQ and pudding. We are looking at 40k at best with BBQ. Killers have a lot more perks that are needed.

"never rund straight" well then you make a 110% movement killer look like 115% on bloodlust 3 with noed lol
Then you need to practice your running.😀 Some people manage to run forward facing backwards, you know.

I think people play it for the gameplay, not the grind. The grind is pretty minimal to get yourself to a competitive state. Everything else is for kicks. And honestly, as survivor it's not like you really even need perks. Most of their power is embedded in the core gameplay mechanics.
There's tons of players on twitch you can see who have like 700,000-800,000+ BP sitting around at any time, and they still go into their games with the same 4 perks and 0 or brown add-ons / items and do it for hours at a time.
In this game you have to have perks when you start to play it. No new player ever will survive without exhaustion perks for example and god forbid if they want to play killer, that's where the real grind is. Comparing to experienced players is not a good case for this argument.
-
Never run straight. If he reloads try to get to another pallet. Drop pallets early if you are injured. Crouch at loops just like you would against huntress, though you have to guess when (usually it's when you are running past the lowest point of the loop like on Autohaven). If there's some distance between you just run forward, never wait at the loop. He is a slow killer and running forward forcing him to catch up with you can eat A LOT of time. Corn maps are you friends, just don't run straight. He can be countered but if you don't play him it is hard especially not many killers play him and it's difficult to get used to him.

Then that is their own fault for not doing their research isn't it? I usually hit up youtube if I find a complicated game I like and want to get better at it. There's plenty of videos showing which perks are and are not worth leveling, and you can figure out what to level within maybe 10-15~ minutes of searching?
And if they do their research how likely are they to sign up for the grindfest? The game needs as many players as possible and the current way is not helping that at all.
-
@BBQnDemogorgon said:
Long grind is a good thing it doesn't need to be nerfed. Games with shorter grinds die off because you reach the end goal faster.
If you play for the grind then you should consider MMOs. Short grind is the last reason games die off. But requiring to grind as much as this game does is actually harmful for the game. There's been a number of posts how people don't buy the game on other platforms because your progress doesn't carry over and no one in their right mind wants to grind hundreds of millions bloodpoints. Not to mention people who are new and don't have a clue what they need and how much they actually need to grind.
-
If survivors could see the killer it would make all good killers wait for ages to play the game. And the reasons why survivors would dodge the killer are just ridiculous. "I don't like playing against Freddy\Legion\Hag\Spirit....." "This guy kicked my ass" "This guy doesn't leave hook when there are survivors swarming it, he is a camper!" and so on. So I am pretty sure that's not healthy for the game. And the only thing killers dodge I guess SWF, though I just change my loadout if I suspect SWF.
-
Can we get an update on that? MLGA is not working anymore but there's another programm MLEB now with similar functionality that is used for the same reasons. How can this kind of software be allowed?

Killers are meant to hunt survivors, not hunt twitch.ttv person (I don't use twitch btw). I don't see how a killer can know he is facing a swf if he just sees random names. PC is different to console in that regard.
Killers seem to target people who they don't like for whatever reason. Then they'll tell their mates "make sure you kill this person" then it turns into this witch hunt.
I've been messaged by someone to join a "hunt" to mori 1 person if I ever got them in a lobby. It just feels like gang warfare at times now lol
Some SWF have matching names (clan tags or something showing their connection). If I see someone with a toxic name like "All Americans are #########" or something like that you can bet I am gonna tunnel that guy.
And who are these mates? I have never heard of killers being in teams, that just sounds dumb. And remembering names and putting them on a "list" sounds like a waste of time and just not healthy.
Und unless the killer keeps a list or you did something special to get killer's attention, he is going to forget you 1 minute after the match. I am sure no red rank killer ever would dodge a survivor just because "he played well". And if you are afraid of bumping into the same killer. then that means that either the game ended for both of you at the same time and you start searching for the game at the same time or you are just paranoid. If it's the former then you could just start searching after 1 minute wait I guess. I don't know about PS queues but on PC chances that I meet the same survivors within a day are exteremely small.
-
Are you blaming having your name shown for your loses? I am not going to lie if I see "twitch" in the name I might play differently but aren't killers the one who "hunt"? It makes sense they know who are they hunting. It will also buff SWF because the killer wouldn't know he is against SWF and play as if against solos. No, thanks. Just play better I guess.
-
If you use mori it's a lose-lose situation. After the ruin nerf I wanted to mori the ######### out survivors but after like 5 games it was just boring. Either you get bored of it or someone actually escapes despite mori and you feel dumb for not even winning like that.

Here me out I play on both sides and I have to disagree On that. There shouldn’t be any punishments .It’s the survivors decision not the killers or teammates.A team of three can still win if they think correctly to outsmart the killer. If a survivor decides to kill himself or herself on a hook let him or her do so. I mean some People do it because it’s a killer they don’t like which I completely understand that some consider it not being fair to the rest of the team. But why should we be punished For doing so?. The only time someone should be punished is when they disconnect Purposely during a series of games in a row. And or if The same killer is beyond malicious and ends up in several games with the same survivor(s) targeting them ruining their game experience. When a killer is being very unsportsmanlike going after the same people or person in multiple games then the killer should only be the one with that Penalty timer and not survivors.
If abandon your teammates in the beginning for no reason ("I don't like the killer" is a childish reason) you have to be punished. You started the game knowing that you might play against everything. The killer also can't just "suicide on first hook" because he doesn't want to play against SWF, he has to wait for survivors to finish all gens.

It doesn't matter if they can or can't win. If you choose to "leave" at the very beginning of the game just because you don't like the killer or for some other silly reason you have to be punished for abandoning other 3 teammates. If you start the game you don't get to abandon your teammates for no reason 1 minute into the game.

I keep saying that they should shift a lot of the blood points into the struggle phase to encourage people to hold on for as long as possible to give their team the most time to work with even if they know they're dead.
It makes sense but survivors can't struggle now if they are all in the struggle phase (they just die). Also the survivor that gets killed last also can't struggle. There will be a lof complaining about missed struggle points then.

My post is more about beginning of the game situation. When it hurts the most and makes the least sense. I understand tunneling suicide or non salvagable situation. My point is more about blatant unsportsmanlike behaviour based on tantrums.

While I don't encourage killing yourself on first hook and agree that people shouldn't do that, you should have unhooked him first before sealing the portal.
- Because 2 people can seal it faster (doing it by yourself actually takes a while)
- The Demo I am assuming just left, meaning his ability was on cooldown. If you unhooked the Jake, the Demo would likely ignore it since he's too far away and without power.
I mean, you even said it yourself. "I started destroying active portal with no Demo around". Unhooking is your first priority, what if the Demo came back before you unhooked Jake?
His ability wasn't on cooldown though, he didn't teleport away he just put a teleport down. And I am not sure at all that he would have ignored that but by destroying the portal it would have taken him more time to come back. I am pretty sure SAFE unhooking is my first priority. He had no reason to go back since he went away far enough for kindred not to proc.

The only way to distinguish is to actually require a video proof for the report. I am pretty sure video could clearly show something like that. But unfortunately it's not something that can be reported.

Exactly my problem with it, now that I'm more educated by this thread. We reward survivors for ######### behavior.
Where exactly is the reward? If it's 5 gens and 1 survivor escaped through the hatch then 3 of them certainly depipped and one of them probably pipped\black pipped,
-
I prefer to have it like it is now rather than look for the last survivor for 30 minutes.3k and hatch escape is win for me anyway. And it also not guaranteed that the survivor will be the first one to get to the hatch. The same when I play survivor, don't want to waste my time hiding.
-
I do it when I need my 4th BBQ stack. I watch the slugged person point me to the survivor and if he cooperates and I get my 4th stack I let them go IF that person doesn't wiggle. I see it as the Entity enjoying Survivors betraying each other. Survive at all cost and all of that.
