  • PS all survivors are bots now - but myself and the killer are still in game. Live bugs and cheats are great to get. Take it while it's hot hot hot.

Update: Well - that was an interesting hour long battle of stubborness between myself and the epic exploit cheating killer. He finally booted me out. Guess I outlasted them. shrugs In chat at least they admitted to it. Crappy person - but honest I guess.

  • Thank you all for taking the time to comment. I feel better about it all now and thinking that my perception might be a bit off.

I appreciate it. Going to go in and play now - hopefully with a different perspective thanks to you all.

  • Maybe I'm just being overly suspicious then.

In the three cases I saw the teammate unhook themselves I can think of one time where the killer was close - the other times the killer was chasing other teammate quite the distance away.

I had no idea there was a bug that didn't show all of the perks but only a few, so that could also make sense.

Killer - wellllllll - I'm talking grabbing teammates on another side of the map and one right after the other. Like boom boom boom boom - done. It was a "what just happened" type thing and yes, some killers are really that good. I have met them - but a couple were more like a hmmmmm I don't think soooo. In the one case it was more like ghostface has been transported right next to you.

I often wear bonded now so if I'm dead and watching - as I like too after I'm out - that's how I see that one but I never considered lag as a possibility. I'd never seen it before, just this past week, week and a half maybe. (I usually play daily.) But that makes sense too.

  • It gives someone a chance to keep playing, and killer to get second hook points. Win-win.

It's especially when teammates are the self types so focus on them and their own points they leave teammates to die. I can't count the number of times I've had bad luck and the game has literally just started and I'm hooked and I'm waiting and waiting and no teammate is doing gens or anything - and no one comes. Then they start doing gens and Imma just hanging. I'm lucky if someone finally comes after I'm near the end of the second hook. Now, if I see that - I just try to help myself to off.

Why not just let them hook and kill you then? that gives more points than all of those things you mentioned.

Usually I do that when the teammates have been toxic to the killer. Stay at the gate and let them do things, especially during an event since they might be looking for something,

Often times they get my death naturally as I'm just left to die by teammates so I just naturally die. so-to-speak.

    It is what it is.

No. They can just leave but choose not to (because they want the killer to see them gloat). Imagine if every game killers just made all 4 survivors bleed out on the ground. That's what survivors are doing by sitting at the exit gate for no reason (wasting time instead of ending the game). The killer should not have to go out of their way to force you out especially considering you are at 0 risk of being hooked at that point. And let's be real, if a survivor wants to click and teabag, they will do so regardless of how the killer played.

I often stay at the game for a bit - not to make the kilter mad or gloat but in case (especially during an event) they need to find, or do something.

I also like to try to give them extra points like finding and closing the hatch and I'll knock a few pallets close to the exit so they can break a few for some extra points for them.

  • I always find these events super unpleasant. People are so aggressive.

Any cakes ever put up ... even after events over ... games are super aggressive.

Teammates just leave you on the hook ... more than normal. Killers are super nasty.

The only way I can deal with it sanely is to suicided pretty much every game. Since we're left to die anyway on first hook nearly every game anyway... why bother making an effort? Then I move on to the next game an hope for better people.

It's so nasty and I absolutely refuse to go into the blood web and get any cakes.

It is what it is. So I just handle it this way to try to get at least some enjoyment from the game.

  • @PlaysByShady First a really big thank you for putting the time and energy into this post. I actually understood it. :-) I appreciate it.

I don't understand the fuss as I think it makes sense and most important... if I'm having fun playing - I don't really mind what's going on. If I'm not. I stop playing.

Games are suppose to be fun, right?. :-) :-)

I'm hoping all this adds to fun! I think it will.

  • @RockoRango

I stand corrected. There is Blockchain Tech.

Something's not quite right. I have to say I'm a bit disturbed. We'll see how it all plays out though?

If this is insinuating that the devs of dead by daylight are a few missed paychecks away from losing everything then we can add to the list that DBD doesn't pay its devs enough. sound fair?

    Most people are exactly that.

Very few have the luxury of not worrying about day to day living or have enough of a stash, or are frugal in how the live their lives that they could comfortably do that. Financial security is something majority of people don't have. Some people like me, live well under their means and could stand on their own a little longer than others. Cost of living where they reside plays a role as well.

In order to fairly say they were under paid - I'd have to look at the duties, cost of living where they are at etc. etc.

In saying that though - majority of people are under paid for the duties they perform. So yes, they probably are underpaid. IF this was all done behind their backs and they were lied to - it's even worse as there is a lack of respect for what they do on top of it all.

Also it seems as if they lied to the main chunk of the dev team about it, too

I think this is one of the main issues with the whole fiasco.

  • @Boss

I'm sorry you decided this and I hope it's for now. I feel you. I really do.

I have a love hate relationship with this game. It's a phycological mine field of poop on the best of days. (That's playing it.) Never mind the rest of the issues you mentioned.

For the foundations of the game itself, there are a lot of security holes. Very few can be patched properly without a tare down unfortunately. Financially that simply wouldn't be viable and that's a sad truth.

    @Desh

Correct. It's always how I have protested something of major importance to me. Cash is King. Rather than feed into something if I am that against it. I stop feeding it. It's also why I'm empathetic in this case as well. It's hard to hit where the big boys lay without devastating the innocent. It's a fine line. One everyone needs to choose themselves. Tough calls. I don't envy anyone right now.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

So, from all I understand now (if the 'lower ranking' devs etc are truthful) : No one doing the actual working on the game itself (art team, modelers, coders etc) were apparently informed about the nfts business, while the higher ups knew what was going on for MONTHS? AKA the big head honchos didn't just lie to the customers (and had the twitter guys lie as well (after all the 'news' are things written by someone else and usally the social media crew has to tweet them out) but their own dev team?

Sadly that is how it's looking. A higher end programmer also would have had to know.

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a digital ledger (blockchain).[1] NFTs can be used to represent easily-reproducible items such as photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files as unique items (analogous to a certificate of authenticity), and use blockchain technology to establish a verified and public proof of ownership. Copies of the original file are not restricted to the owner of the NFT, and can be copied and shared like any file. The lack of interchangeability (fungibility) distinguishes NFTs from blockchain cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-fungible_token

Unless wikipedia is wrong (and the argument about it being unreliable is completely bogus), NFTs are created and stored USING blockchain tech. Even if somehow everyone else is missing something and some aren't, the concept itself is extremely dangerous to the internet as a whole:

"You don't own this NFT, therefore you can't have or use it! Only I can, haha :)" - Someone trying to profit off of a copy and paste of a .jpg

Not quite was I was aiming for - but thank you. You have probably helped people a bit. :-)

  • @RockoRango said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2573872#Comment_2573872

NFTs are created using blockchain tech. If they said that, it would be misinformation

It all depends on the type you're referencing and how it's all implemented and place together. Not all NTF's contain what most people consider Blockchain Tech.

It's why I thought it might be a good idea to have one thread with a full explanation that's easy for an average person to understand.

Sadly I understand it - but would be the worst person ever to try to explain it.

We'll see about that. I expect a drop regardless of when the servers come back online.

If people's lives depend on a video game, ESPECIALLY this one, I'm moving to antartica to live with penguins. At least their brains aren't walnuts

Let me rephrase it... livelihoods. As in paying bills, eating etc. Life basics :-)

Right about now my comment "Also this is a VERY important note:

"Absolutely zero blockchain tech exists" and they can verify that if they wanted. It would ease a lot of this."

Is looking like a really good idea for them to do.

  • I cant believe I'm actually going to say something in support of what a mod said...

"Remember some peoples lives depend on this game" This is always something to keep in mind everyone. I am empathetic to that.

That being said I completely suck at translating some things for people to understand. It might be an idea for someone to post a concise thread - pinned - on how NTFs work and how they can work along with Pros and Cons of them. Most people are not going to understand them.

Education is better than fear and you can't make good choices if you don't understand. Understanding is the key to many things.

Also this is a VERY important note:

"Absolutely zero blockchain tech exists" and they can verify that if they wanted. It would ease a lot of this.

  • There is an issue sadly. We'll have to wait it out:

Real-time outages and problems for Dead by Daylight. Is the server down? Log-in not working? Here you see what is going on.

  • Just give people the option to play with them or not. Simple.

I've had 5 games running where I hooked suicided because of SWF and some were SWF's with killer friends. It's frustrating to play with that. IMHO and completely unfair - especially with a killer friend.

Some SWF teams are wonderful though and they treat the rest of the team the same. I love those. A reputation meter for such things wouldn't hurt. Good rep - no one has to worry!

  • I just had a really great game with strangers. I think they might have been a two man SWF.

I was AFK at the start - now in fairness to me I cancelled long before I hit the lobby (and this has happened a few times now - very weird) I walk by my PC and WT helk I'm in a game!

Welp geesh there I am on a hook and a teammate saves me.

I work as hard as I can to make up for whatever happened that got me in that game. (I'm still not great at the game - but I try.)

In the end I was about to be deaded and the killer left me crawling. (Instead of hooking me on what would have been my last hook and TBH I think they did that on purpose as another member had suicided early on.) So there I am - end game - all gens done - lying on the ground and my teammates are way across the field but come for me.

They waved me to crawl to them - I healed up as best as I could so not to put them in harms way - and they healed me fully and then waved me to follow. For some reason my instincts said trust them. So I followed them.

Turns out - they had keys and got us out out the hatch. They knew where it was. They could have left me. (Especially after what happened at the start of the game and TBH I wouldn't have blamed them if they did.)

    They didn't though.

Best feel good game ever. They were wonderful (killer too).

It's games like this that remind me why I stay through a lot of bad ones.

  • I make a point of playing killer now once a week - it helps with the toxicity that if often abound. Keeps it fresher. (Though I can't say I've been bored. Frustrated, yes. Bored not yet. lol

Just had a really great game with teammates that I wish I always had. That often brings so much joy that I stick around. Deeply in love with those two!

Some people don't use it at all in favor of other perks, but whenever that perk is brought up a lot of people say it should be base-kit anyways. Which of course is arguable and needs a lot more discussion on if it's even fair or not. Of course you (as an example) might think it's fair, but others might bring up a point as to why it's not.

All in all, Kindred is great for issues like this, but it isn't a general fix to the issue.

That last line is precisely the issue... it's not fixable. It kinda is-what-it-is if you know what I mean?

For all the discussions of frustrations with the game, many are not fixable as they are behavior based. We can't change how players behave. We can only react / chose how we are going to behave in kind.

I sympathize with posts like the OP's as it's disheartening and frustrating. All we can do is move on to the next game and hope we get actual teammates and people who want to have fun together.

  • @WalkedMoss92 said:

Like seriously?? Why would would do that? How would you feel if all of your other teammates let you die on your first hook, especially if you were doing really good that match? It feels terrible.

It's even worse if they let you get to your second phase on hook or death hook and NO ONE is working on gens during that time.

Don't convince yourself that you're good at the game if you had let your other teammates die so early off in the game like that.

I have to agree with many here that every situation is unique (from killers stalking the hook, etc etc)- that being said - I totally feel you.

More often than not there is NO reason to let a teammate get to phase two. It's one of the multiple reasons why I will suicide. It's frustrating. Especially if you are wearing kindred and you are hanging there thinking WTAF. (What the actual F...)

If I go to second phase early on in the game because my teammates can't be bothered - then I can't be bothered. I say goodbye to that game. The other reason is if I'm in second phase because of a camping killer. Yup - see ya. No point in playing. (or should I say "trying" to play. That's more accurate.

    My logic is fairly simply:

Situation one: Teammates can't be bothered - time to move on to another game. Especially if I see them finally decide maybe they should and I'm two seconds away from second phase and they know, and I know the killer's is right there. I'll end up hooked a second time and possibly the other teammate. (Usually just me though.)

Situation two: Killer won't leave the hook area. Why on earth would I allow myself to be saved only to be put right back on the hook again. IMHO that's rewarding a killer for what I personally feel is bad sportsmanship. Chances are if they let me play they'd get a couple of hooks out of me and more points but at least it would have been a fun game.

In both cases it's a miserable game for me and all I've done is given people BP they don't deserve. Time to move on to another game really.

    I feel ya.

My only caution here is don't Kobe right away - give your teammates a chance to try for you.

I live in a universe where I say good game and treat the Killer (or Survivors) politely at the end. When you do that, they tend to respond. When I say GG Killler, GLHF in your next game, they tend to reply back. I get a response most of the time whether the Killer won or lost. Good sportsmanship, i.e. being humble in victory and gracious in defeat is a positive feedback loop. Most adults can' tolerate losing as long as they are given some dignity and respect. The trick is that YOU have to initiate it. YOU have to be the one to start the loop. People tend to rise to the occasion. Someone just has to take that first step, swallow that pride when they lost, and give credit and compliment to the person that beat them. That is all it takes and you can live in the same parallel universe I live in.

    BOOYA! Exactly.

Nice bait... It's so obivous you are just another killer-main pretending to be a survivor who suddenly woke up to see the light. First of all, If you really were playing survivor mostly, you would already have noticed this behaviour amongst your teammates. You would also know how terrible the survivor experience is right now if you are playing solo surv. Killer has never been easier than it is right now, and i see WAY more toxicity amongst killers than survivors (and yes I play both sides in purple rank)

Since the last archive came out I have desperately tried to complete the survivor quests, and I am at the point of giving up. Match after match I go against tunneling, camping killers bringing in moris, iri-hatches ect. It's a freaking nightmare and making solo survivor almost unplayable. Killers purposly trying to deny survivors any chance of getting points, just playing as scummy as ever and then whining about toxic survivors here on the forums, I just cant take it serious anymore.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, however, it doesn't make you correct. In fact you are quite wrong. Search my posts - you'll find out pretty fast I am a survivor main full stop.

Since you think I'm a liar - I'd say you take it quite seriously - otherwise why post? Who's baiting really?

    *shrugs*

And you sound like you have nothing of value to say or add to the observations.

The amount of killers complaining about nonsense is hysterical. Survivors are definitely the underpowered ones in this game. Every single time I play killer i get at least 3 kills. It’s not difficult nor do I really care if a survivor tea bags. What kind of thing is that to complain about ? Holy moly..... get it together people. It’s a damn game.

Oh wait - maybe you do?

It is a game - correct. You are very smart, but let me help you a little.

Survivors were always complaining about killers and reverse. I found it interesting to see the other side full on and no at a distance. It 's great to have people see both sides. They might complain less in the long run if they did.

"Don't attack while healing" when was this a thing? this is pretty much all I do as Killer lol. It's what I live for. Nurse + Nurses Calling = <3

Sorry - i know how stupid that sounded with nurses calling etc. I guess for me, If I hit them again while healing right off the hook, it kind seems like bad sportsman like behave as they'll just go down right away again - no chance to run and be chase. Make sense a little?

I want everyone to have fun and sometimes, for me at least, I can't see that being fun for a survivor if they've not had much chance to play yet. So I wait until they heal and then I go as fair game again. It's just how I prefer to play - nothing against anyone who does different. :-)

    Nurses calling is rather cool.

As a player who plays more Killer than survivor, thank you. I honestly question what survivors who act like children would actually do if they pushed us away from that role. I've gotten so used to it, I actually expect it, especially when it's clear I'm losing. I play fair. No tunneling or camping, even when EGC is active and nobody is dead, but survivors will still treat you like crap for it. Not every game is like that, but I'd say 8/10 of my games as killer ends in people rubbing it in, or spending the entire 3 minutes in a exit gate.

You're welcome. I really feel for the decent killer players now. I'm still flabbergasted at it but maybe overtime I'd be less sensitive to it. XO

I respect that you did that but you didn't already see that from the survivor side watching your teammates? xD I don't do any of the bad stuff ( in fact I'm nice to my killers and I haven't ever even teabagged my bad ones ) but there's some ######### survivors out there. I recently picked up killer and have noticed some of the same things.

Nope really didn't see much of. Here and there sure but to see it first hand so widespread was a bit shocking. Playing solo I saw crappy teammates towards other teammates but not much to the killers.

    @musefan said:

I think the main reason for not seeing it as often is that solo survivors never see the toxicity of a 4-man swf.

I have the exact same experience, playing killer I see a lot more teabagging.

Having said that, it's hard to keep track of other survivors behaviour when you are busy doing gens. So maybe it's just easier to spot when playing killer.

I see it from a survivor standpoint - how many treat fellow solo teammates but I really did think it was only towards teammates. This was a rude awakening.

And that's exactly it - I'm focused being a teammate so I will see a chase in the distance but I'm watching to see if a teammate is downed etc etc. Not closely - just at a side glance. It was way easier to see it all as killer.

    @Hopesfall said:

"In fact one game I left them all dying on the ground for trying to save the really offending teabagger. I cared not."

It really does help to see the perspective of the other side. I think everyone should do this.

I believe him. I play both Killer and Survivor in equal measure, and I can assure you that his experiences are mild compared to the average Killer day. Most of us who play Killers have become jaded to the obnoxious behaviors. I barely notice Tea-Bagging anymore, or rather it doesn't raise my blood pressure. I just coldly note it and continue with my game. The word has kind of gotten around that I do record every game I play and I do report (with video evidence) every violation. The upside of the tedious process is I get less and less salt these days. The Salty simply say "nothing" at all... no GG... no whining or whinging... nothing. I am fine with that. I wouldn't go so far as to say 75% of the Survivors I run into are obnoxious. I put the numbers at 40-50%. I'm pleased to say about 10-20% are actually quite nice in the post game.

When I play Survivor nine out of ten Killers I play against (that can talk post game) will give me a GG, some nice feedback, and even the odd compliment. Only about one in ten does obnoxious stuff like slugging me down as the last Survivor and then tea-bags around (Ghostface) until I bleed out. This kind of person is defective, but mercifully rare. I don't get offended by being camped (not even face camped), tunneled, slugged, or being hit with a Mori. That is just the game. So as long as the Killer is polite afterwards, and isn't using hacks (oddly enough I don't think I've ever run into a Killer hack yet... they must exist but I've never seen one), we are good.

The problem is there is a disparity, and sadly the bulk of the awfulness is Survivor side. They provide more Salt, and (so far) all the Hacks and Lag cheating I've encountered. Like it or not, we have to police our fellow Survivor players and stand up to the garbage antics. The Killer should not be the only one reporting the foul language, abuse, and such at the end of the game. Survivors who don't engage in it, but are there, should be reporting it too. More to the point, I call that stuff out when other Survivors do it, and I will remove them from my friend list instantly. I'm not going to into battle with people who behave like that because their behavior DOES reflect on me.

    Well said. XO

It was literally a whole day off too. So not a few games - it was the day. (I was actually trying to see how reasonable the tome was to do for an average player so that's how it started.)

I will admit as the day went on it did bother me less and less but that first 10 games I'd say - wow - good thing I have good blood pressure as I'm sure it got raised. I was so irritated by it. I mean I would have understood if I was being a jerk or playing in a way where survivors complain - but I was playing respectfully - until that happened that is.

As I became less irritated I became more disappointed in people. It's a game - It's suppose to be fun and some of these folks are beyond trolls. No wonder people get all salty and miserable over time and have to take game breaks.

    @Bloodwidow said:

I'm playing mostly survivor because Killer can become very stressfully (or very funny).

Very much my experience as killer, too.

It's always refreshing to see survivors that start 'behaving' when they realize you are trying your best to not accidentally tunnel etc. I dunno how often I had survivors shuffle up to me after they saw I looked at them after running into them when they just got unhooked and just went on my way.

Usually this ends in farming, which, tbh, is great. I know I'll never get some challenges done, but I'd rather play to have fun than stress myself out.

Those kinds of games can be so much fun!

I'm a killer main and when I play survivor it's solo. DCs don't magically become more frequent when you switch roles. Seeing ragequit hook suicides is not hard. Seeing tbaggers at the exit gates or when they loop near you is not hard. Same for flashlight clickers. The list goes on for all kind of childish behavior. The point is that it just sounds contrived that you suddenly had this epiphany when you switched roles and then you jump in here singing the praises of a seemingly oppressed minority.

Also, try to see the whole disconnect in your story-telling and reasoning. You say you don't notice survivor toxicity when you play survivor. However, you promptly embrace and justify toxic behavior yourself by bleeding out survivors who in your eyes are 'guilty' of trying to rescue a tbagger, while they might've simply been oblivious, just like you, to the fact that that person tbagged.

Honestly, I gave you the benefit of the doubt the first time around. Now, I just think this thread is the typical bait of you-vs-us arguments that plague this forum. No offense.

I'm sorry, my dude, but your whole post is hard to follow because it just reads like a self-complacent rant. Your story lacks credibility the moment you said the following:

When I play Survivor nine out of ten Killers I play against (that can talk post game) will give me a GG, some nice feedback, and even the odd compliment.

I don't know in what kind of parallel universe your DbD exists, but kinda ask the Entity for me if I can join. You get a gg 9 out of 10 times by killers and survivors alike only if they won, with the odd stupid remarks the remainder of the time. When a side loses, however, you get silence, aggressiveness, or a gg, in this order.

    Firstly - I have zero reason to lie - it's a game.

and ... actually you probably haven't read most of my posts. (Which is fair, it's a big forum, as I'm sure I'm not read many of yours either.) I've always adored the killers and sided with there POV on a lot of things just by the things I saw survivors doing to their own teammates. What this experience did was really help me to understand some of the complaints I didn't fully appreciate previously that I thought were exaggerated - like the tea-bagging - that I am able to see better now.

You are absolutely correct - I embraced it without thought for the other survivors and that is something I have to consider in the future when I play killer so the irritation doesn't get the better of me like it did those first games. As the day went on it was less bothersome.

No offence taken at all. You are absolutely allowed your thoughts about me. Even if they are incorrect. You have every right to them.

I don't bait. I call it like I've experienced it. Often I'll post to see if it's just me, or if others are having the same POV. It's helps me to be a bit more objective or rethink something that perhaps I hadn't considered.

75% could be a bit of a stretch?

So you compromised your integrity to spite their immaturity, then... possibly becoming equally immature in the process by choosing the path of wrath and enacting your vengeance.

Haven’t you ever watched the movie Se7en?

The ending of that film has a metaphor for life that we should always live by:

    ”Vengeance is Mine, saith the LORD;

    I will repay.” Romans 12:19

Don’t let jerks and their actions cause you to fall prey to the detriment of their own unfortunate demise. They’ll get what’s coming to them.

The back and forth toxicity will never end when we all continue to be participants in it, srsly. We’ll all only be complaining to each other about what toxic behaviors we’ve chosen to be a part of, ourselves, on our own side.

I’ve seen it so much now, from both sides, I‘m compelled to react, but end up jus being like, “meh, spoiled children” an go about my business on whatever side I play.

Realistically tho, in horror movies like DBD is based from, killers really do camp, kebab an watch survivors take their last breath.

Not many movies where survivors are taunting the killer instead of sprinting directly out the doorway to freedom... the ones that do attempt to jest are those token survivors who end up dead.

    It’s all a choice.

That being said, it feels good to be in your “25th percentile”

While 75% might be a bit high, I'd still tell you that it was well over 50% - that's why I chose 75% could have been 60% sure - but it certainly wasn't split in the middle by any stretch.

I have seen the movie Se7en - but please don't bring the bible into this. For every passage you quote I can promise you there are 50 of us that can quote one that kills yours. I can even use non-canonized parts. That's not an argument I'm having with someone as we'd be here for years. XO

That being said - I can appreciate, and respect, the sentiment of what you are trying to say and agree with it XOXOXO- it did get the better of me at the start. Though I can't say I won't visit the same upon another teabagger but will probably not keep offing the rest of the team. ;-) unless they are an SWF playing nasty. ;-) I think I need time to find my Zen balanced with killer vs nasty survivor. :-)

At least you guys can play. I have crashed 9 out of 10 games. I found a thread in technical reference my crashes and my laptop is just not capable of handling the graphics. For reference I have a 3 year old Dell gaming laptop that cost 900 dollars. Its not cutting edge but it can run reasonable games.

The change has made a mess for a lot of people. I'm so sorry you are unable to play right now - I'm hoping they'll fix the issue that is causing this for a lot of people.

Post a thread - there are many people here with good tech expertise that might be able to give some suggestions to help.

    Truth.

Easier to see from killer side.

I Solo survive with Empathy, so I do see a good bit of everything that takes place at 128 meters in a chase. While toxicity from survivors doesn’t seem frequent, it is happening often, an it’s all immature, almost to the point of being laughable, like being amused by a small child behaving sillily.

    XOXO

Not saying I don't believe you. I'm just saying that if what you describe is so widespread and you usually play survivor, then you should have already noticed all those things coming from your fellow teammates. You really wouldn't need to play killer to see all of that.

It's not like people don't DC or teabag when you play survivor.

I play solo. Most of the time I'm doing gens alone (getting crappy BP for it too) and left to die (like just now) on a hook, at end game, after I've saved everyone else). I've noticed it on occasion but had absolutely NO idea how widespread it actually was. I'm focused saving, and doing gens - not watching what other teammates are or aren't doing to the killer.

    DCing - I hadn't seen too many. Maybe 1 every 10-20 games.

  • That, I agree is an irritating bug. Another one that should be high on the list of getting fixed.

    It's unfair to the killers.

  • Thank you! Thank goodness I'm not alone!!!. I was thinking the killers were going to start to think I was cheating and it's like not my fault at all ...

....and that last one with my Teammate on the hook and I couldn't get to her. I'm thinking she's thinking "This girl is seriously going to stand there and let me die" but I was stuck. I felt so awful.

    Too bizarre for words.

This is a bug I really have to vote a fix is needed for asap please.

Those definitions are incorrect, and were created by people who weren't around to experience true face camping, which, again was removed.

People just started using the term to describe something else.

Face camping is when the killer could literally block you from being unhooked, which is no longer possible because you can unhook from any direction. You're not right here. The entire premise of FACE CAMPING was the ability to block the unhook. That was the defining characteristic. Without it, it's just camping.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the origins. I have a great deal of appreciation for your approach here than originally. :-) Very appreciated. :-) It's also a good history lesson about the game as well.

Those past ones did note the problematic originally facecamping issues - which would have been terrible! EKKK Much worse than now. I'd to hate to have played back then and I bet I lot of people left if that didn't get resolved quickly. (I say now only because while the original use of facecamping obviously differs, in so much that the bug no longer exists as part of it.)

The result appears to be that the term, like many things in life, has evolved from it's originally use and meaning, to what it is today.

There really is no better description of a killer literally in someones face on a hook the whole , or most of the time, than facecamping. :-)

You haven't seen face camping. Face camping has a meaning, and it's no longer possible. It hasn't been since 2016/2017. You admit you're new - so stop trying to school me on what you have no clue about.

According to all the webpages I've read and what other users / players have said:

    Title
0 votes and 11 comments so far on Reddit

    Should I go on...

Now the only change you are referencing is apparently they could get even closer and prevent and other player from unhooking. Everything else is the same minus that bug.

So - consider that rude one :-p

A FACE camper? A real FACE camper?

Protip: Face camping doesn't exist anymore. Only people from 2016/early 2017 know what face camping is. Nobody who came after that has a clue.

I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or not but if not ...

I've only been around since the summer and yes, I know what it means and yes I've seen it quite a bit.

A killer literally standing at the hook at your face. Sometimes they keep smacking you or puking on you - the whole time you are on the hook. People have broadened it a bit to included a killer staying very close to the hook - like within 8 feet and walking around although that really is camping not face camping.

Now from some killers standpoints I see where they say "It will make you better players" as it is a strategy but what they forget is us solos that are not in a SWF suffer greatly as a result because our teammates don't care to risk it. If it were an SWF - yup I can see where that kind of thing would help make people better at the game as most swf's will help eachother. The solos are often hung out to bleed.

Before patch 2.1 flashlights were definitely at there best even without insta blinds.

Wow. On one hand I would have liked to experience that - on the other though I'd probably be very frustrated now. Since I came to play - they've never been any real good. :-(

At least I'm used to that. It must be horrible to come from a time period where they worked properly. :-(

  • Easy answer - you meet a killer like that or teammates without a killer camping / tunneling killer who just won't save teammates - suicide hook and move on to the next game and hope for better teammates in the case of non camping / tunneling killers and / or a killer who doesn't make the game miserable.

Actually both types make the game miserable.

Suicide hooking is your friend. You deprive everyone the way they are depriving you. Yup I'm salty tonight.

And this come from me being very bitter since I spent all last night and tonight dealing with both of those and I'm like "bite me."

Yes -let me be a warning to all - this is how you end up feeling after wearing Kindred once too often.

Edit to add - like you I don't mind them being at the hook for a bit, or leaving and coming back after giving time - but when they are right there and then IF you get off the hook - they down you again - yeah just bad. That's why if I see a camper - I'm just gone. There is no point, at that point, to even try to play.

  • Since when were the flashlights ever not horrible. I'm serious here. Was there a time?

  • So I'm going to add this:

If you aren't going to get me off the hook and leave me until I'm almost dead. So then the killer goes right after me again and I'd dead. When I can sense a game like that? Why on earth should I try?

Teammates leading the killer to me while another is on the hook and I have Kindred on or they knew I was there? Yeah no.

    Going to facecamp or tunnel.

Why on earth should I stay in those kinds of games?

Why should I stick around and try to help teammates in that case?

Why should I give the killer more points to hook me when they are doing that? I have no fun - and get no BP?

I know exactly how that's going to end. Been there enough times to be able to safety call it.

Yeah no, sorry, not staying in those kinds of games and it has nothing to do with learning anything. What I learn is how selfish and jerky people are. They are miserable games.

So No-thank-you. I will suicide and move on. - after I've blocked them so if I see them in the future I don't go into that lobby. Why won't I DC? Why on earth would i give them more BP for that? Yeah no they don't deserve more BP.

If I sound a wee bitter... I'm kinda feeling that way right now.

I just had 15 games like that between last night and tonight. So don't tell me not to suicide if that's the crap going on. I feel sorry for my next set of teammates who I'm now going to be suspicious of for awhile. :-(

    sobs

    I hate jerks.

Okay so I'm a lot bitter atm lol

I'm PC NA EST, it's 11 AM here ... I've been seeing like 85% console players since crossplay, that's fine, queues are fantastic. The only quests I have for the current tome are survivor so that's what I'm playing, even though I'm bad.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1540649#Comment_1540649

Exactly opposite. It's opt-out. Default is on.

As survivor Queue are ok again but were fasted on PC only. I never had an issue. (Killers I know did.)

So I find it really freakin' weird that all my PC players have vanished and been replaced by console ones.

I've gleaned from other threads that the game has been free or included with other things on other platforms. This makes sense. Given the ridiculous BP grind, cash shop, battle pass, DLC, etc. This is effectively an F2P business model, I don't know why the base game isn't free.

    Yeah that is odd.

No issues getting PC survivors previously at all. (Killers I know had a tough time previously) This is why I'm so puzzled about why I'm getting nearly ALL Console now and wondering where my PC peoples are. :-(

i think its fine to insult the devs cause tbh they do such a ######### job at this point im surprised the whole devs team or most of them havent been fired

All depends on the structure of the company and if there is a board / shareholders etc etc.

If they are completely independent without anyone overseeing it by way of outside operations - no one's getting fired.

Hmm looking into the structure of the company might help s to understand the madness. Hmm.

So far from the games l have played, console killers must just camp like mofos

console survivors seem to rush gens much harder than pc, they don’t care about saving it’s all about the gens.

I just finished a game where l hooked a survivor and they just let him die without me going near him

the only reason l can come up with is they know on console if you go on the hook you must stay there.

LOL, yes - as a PC survivor this has been my experience too. I think it might be the way they've had to play for their platform for whatever reason?

Also I think that DBD was coded in a completely different language than C++ which means transferring it to Unreal broke a lot of things lol, and I remember a developer once stating that the original game was mostly comprised of blocks of code, linked by if statements, whilst more recent developments have needed much more complex coding that the base game wasn't prepared for.

For what they've done, I'm pretty impressed, no matter how much ######### I give the dev team.

I think you are correct xo. Not surprised by that correctness either.

They are using, by the looks of things, multi-script languages. Unity C (C#, C-sharp) is a large part of it and that's object-oriented scripting languages. Which makes sense. At least that's my impression based on how things react, the bugs, and the other tell-tale signs. I could be wrong - but it does appear that way. (A lot of games are coded this way too.) Python is being used too - I assume.

If what I think is true - then it is kind of impressive. It also means that they needs a serious code breaker in house to go through it and make some proper adjustments as it's functioning like it was patched together with elmer's glue.

...I say to myself, expertly urban evading around a rock in the corner of the map, with the precision that only the talents of a pc gamer and a high-end mouse working in perfect harmony can offer. Surely it's not right that they should be playing alongside the likes of us?

I almost feel pity for them...

The killer has barely appeared on my shiny monitor, 50 metres away, but employing my cat-like reflexes to their fullest extent, I press the E key and dead hard into a tree.

Maybe, I play like a rank 15, maybe. Occasionally. But what would the console equivalent be? According to the steam forum calculations, a rank 20 survivor on pc is a rank 5 on console. So I should be a 1, if not higher, one could presume.

These reflexes come into play once more as the killer advances on me, hoping to deliver his final blow. I masterfully hit the exit game button, and I'm gone even before I hit the ground. Taking note of the globe icon next to the killer's name, I let out a shriek of laughter, my monocle falling from my face and plopping delicately into my glass of mountain dew.

    Couldn't even hook me once!

As my tears of joy subside, I mark my victory by letting out a truly exquisite, juicy fart. The scent of last night's burrito rushes into my nostrils, accompanied by a subtle yet powerful hint of refried beans. I savour it, wondering if the intestines of a console scrub could produce such finery. I think perhaps not. I wish I'd bottled this one.

    claps

    Well done

    but

You remembered the dew but forgot the cheetos. I'm sorry, this is a page 1 rewrite. 😋
