And every single one of those games is not asymmetrical. People REALLY underestimate how much that changes things.
I'm not underestimating the asymmetrical aspect. I'm taking it into consideration and stating that even that is not enough to match dota's complexity. There is a reason why you can win millions of dollars playing dota and not the other way around. And dota 2 works just fine. So just saying that it is impossible, unachievable or tedious because of the complexity that the asymmetrical aspect provides is vague and unfounded since there are more complex games out there already doing it

You're making a false dichotomy. It would be more accurate to have an offering like that and then punish the other 999 games that don't have the offering in order to make that one match fair. That's the issue. We know its broken.
You are assuming balancing around that single match would punish the other 999 games. That's a pretty big assumption to make. Watch other competitive games. Take Dota 2 for example. Dota's complexity is beyond what dbd could ever aspire and yet it is a balanced game. Take a guess. Yes, they balanced around top percent. Casual and average people still enjoy and still play the game.
Stop trying to predict the future. "It wont work" you say. You don't know that. It works in other games far way more complex than dbd. Why would not work in dbd?

I don't understand why the Devs don't make a normal and competitive mode. They could balance competitive mode dramatically differently than normal mode.
It only takes to allow voice chat in-game. Provide the same tools swf have and further develop into better teamwork mechanics. You solve solo vs swf disparity and then balance accordingly. That's it. Such a drastic task. Clearly we need privileged minds for such pursuit

Dead by Daylight is a game where depending on the side you choose to play, you will be faced with either a PvP experience or a PvE experience. They want one side to play the environment role. They can say they don't meant that, that they are working or a b or c. Yet this is the way it feels and their game speaks louder than their words.
So basically they ######### on one side. This works perfectly fine when people plays quite chill i.e. they suck i.e. Problem arises as you start improving. And this is what we get at it's finest. You can talk with any of the members from Oracle. They expected one hook. They know that Wraith regardless of whom might play should not get more than one hook. The most important fact is that you don't need to face oracle to start experiencing how boosted one side starts to feel. People keep pointing the obvious thing that not everyone is Oracle. You don't need to be Oracle to experience this. You just need to be good and have a bunch of friends who are also good. That's it.
People also points out that this is not a daily thing. That's not ground truth for everyone. Region, time, mmr probably soon. All of them are variables that influence the caliber that you are meet with. To ignore this is just shitting over a portion of your playerbase. Fairness? Dedication? Healthy competition? Are those values that you don't promote?
If you play killer you are here to play the environment role. This is what happens when people capitalize on that.
-
I got hit when already on the other side of the pallet, at least once in pretty much every match I have had so far. They weren't even close to being dubious hits. Literally on the other side with almost 0.5 seconds of advantage. I checked my ping everytime it happend. 25ms. Hitboxes are messed up again.
-
What is wrong with you
-
What is clear to me is that there is a problem with certain survivors, not those killers. People are lazy, don't want to bother learning and improving. I'm sorry, you can't play the same way against every killer. Against some of them you need to be good, the game won't carry you
-
Adiris getting a skin where she vomits rainbows instead of bile is also acceptable.
This would be awesome. Custom power effects based upon skins. I want that #########

Thanks I'm gonna celebrate
You go at it
@Trashmaster you should try reading a little bit about philosophy, it won't do you no harm
Ideas, concepts, objects. The way we arrange things in our head and how we perceive them is way too complex to suit your vague definition of "family".
Think about where you stand and think about how you perceive things. Analyze whether they are right for you, and whether they would be right for you if you wouldn't stand where you are right now. Being comfortable and right is not the same thing. I don't think you would agree with your definition of family, if you were adopted or some #########. Also blood-bonds can suck as well, they don't mean #########. It is a nice exercise which might prove profitable for you, it could make you smarter, try it out!

Again, it doesn't change gameplay so you don't care about it. Cool. Other people actually care about the lore dbd, and the implications behind it.
If you don't care about it and thinks it'll add nothing, congrats, your opinion brings nothing to the table. There will be no difference to having it in or out in your opinion, so I hope to see you supporting the cause because to some people it matters a great deal.
His opinion does bring something to the table. He just doesn't give a #########. That's it. Why do you bother?
-
Dbd is a game where survivors are supposed to cooperate in order to win. STILL the game on its own does not provide enough resources to achieve that (2021!!). What is wrong with you?
-
If the player is just better than you, then no. You are screwed. But that's the point, you are not supposed to outplayed better players than you.
Best advice I could give you is play nurse. If you are not willing to put too much work into improving and understanding nurse to a deep level, then try to play by following no patterns. Be messy, use line of sight wisely, understand how much time she needs to blink x amount of distance, learn when to walk and when not to. The list goes on. Often times immersive survivors are the harder ones.
But again, good nurses understand pretty much all of this and more. You shouldn't expect to perform better than them if you don't understand these things as well (or at the same level as them). That's not logical
-
Meg and nea for survivor. I just like them better than the rest pretty much.
Nurse <3 and ghostface on the other end. I used to play Dota 2 a lot. I think I absolutely fell in love with nurse because she was the closest thing almost relatable to Dota. She is challenging, requires a lot of time to master, and highly rewarding. Ghostface cause of the movies. I was fond of the idea of scaring people and trolling.
-
I can't believe they are addressing one of the truly lose/lose situations in this game. I'm actually happy
-
From my experience slugging is a proper tool that you need to learn when and how to use. Also understand that some killers stand no chance in certain situations balance-wise. It's not on you, it's on the game. That's a sad statement and yet is true.
There are hints that devs might start prioritizing high level balance soon. It appears they are aiming towards pushing dbd into the competitive scene. We'll need to wait. But there is hope you'll finally be able to compete using your favorite killer purely relying on your own skill. That's not a thing nowadays. You just need to accept it.
-
Some people need to learn to pick their battles. What's the point on arguing with John or Lisa about balance issues on a game they probably spent less than 300 hours playing it, don't care about the competitive aspect to it and don't even play both sides. They have the whole thing figure it out already. Why are you bothering?
There is better things in life into which you can invest your time.
-
You don't have a quality control department do you BHVR? Of course you don't. It matches with the whole mediocrity that you people display in everything that you do. It is rough, but it fits you. And there is no one to blame but yourselves for such thing. No one forced you to proceed the way you have been choosing to proceed for the past years. Ignoring and treating your community the way you have it's outrageous.
You walk like them, you talk like them. You must be one of them. You people are mediocre.
-
They are well aware of all of her bugs, we had make sure of that. It is not them not knowing, its them having other priorities. They have had other priorities for 4 years already. That should be your answer

I haven’t seen her at all, it really bothers me because I genuinely wanted to see what it was like facing a great Nurse. Since I’m on console they never really existed and now that cross-play is a thing, shes reworked/nerfed and NOW I WILL NEVER GET TO FACE A GREAT NURSE.
(Sorry, I got a little emotional there)
;/
queue in south america and you might face me :)
-
There are bugs in this game that have persisted for years. Problems as critical as the difference between solo and swf not addressed still after FOUR bloody years. Priorities. Hope you guys make as much money as you can, if you continue down this road the game will die.
Stubbornness is not a good thing, better companies than bhvr had been stubborn in the past. Did not work out for them.
-
It amazes me how comms is not getting addressed yet. They choose to have two completely different ways of playing the game, and then aim to balance around only one of them. Can you accept for good comms is a reality guys? People don't play swf without communicating, they just don't do that.
Does it really make sense for you? Allowing/pushing such drastic difference to the point one could even say we are talking about two different games. And then ONLY BALANCING AROUND ONE OF THEM. I need bigger letters.
Why don't give people in-built comms in the game already? I can't get it. At this point I just can't. It's not a logical thing. Apparently no one asks this question on Q&A events. The greatest problem dbd has and no one asks this question on Q&A streams.
It's been four years already, people don't play the game the way you intended in the first place. Four years.
-
While I was reading your hypothesis I was like has she really played this game? Lmao. Congrats on graduating !
-
Sound related. Perhaps nurse as well. Who knows
-
Congrats ! Dbd is a nice game to love. Always remember that how much you get out of it is entirely up to you, and no one else !

But why did they give up? Do you feel like they gave up because it got no recognition and the complaining was useless, or something?
That's a question only them can answer, I don't read people's mind. I'll assume they have realized that when you dont complain about something popular, your complain doesn't matter that match. Regardless of how objective or/and accurate your complain might be. Bear in mind this game has a 4:1 ratio. PGTW is a good example. The perk was fine, there are many perks that need attention prior to it, yet they decided to tweak it.
We have seen priorities tend to respond to amount of complains, not objective complains. Some people might have catch that, and decided to stop complaining.
-
One thing is forgetting about something, and another thing is given up on something. I personally did not complain about any change, but i'm pretty sure some people just gave up on complaining.
-
Maybe. Nurse is the only thing that really requires skill in this game so far, therefore why she is so powerful. Perhaps in the future we would continue to see high skill/high reward killers, it would be nice.
In my opinion they are the most fun to play and to verse. But i'm a very competitive person, casual people might not think the same. Nurse on proper hands can be really frustrating to play against, specially if you are chill survivor. Same thought process can apply for future killers.
-
Can't count how many times i have been accused of having some ".exe" just cause i don't miss a single blink. People have trouble understanding you can be good at the game.

I play a ton of Overwatch, and trust me, 5 wins in a row doesn't make sense, especially for just how long games of Dota are; they can be up to an hour (sometimes more) so the fact is that sticking to a game where you're playing with people you really don't like, 5 times in a row, regardless of win/loss, would be fair.
True, in DBD it is pretty easy to pip, so it could work.
Oh I see. I did not understand you in the first place. You don't like how low priority works for dota. Well I must disagree. Low priority sucks, but it is intended to be that way. I do believe it works just fine. Dota is a game that can afford to punish their players without losing them, that's the key. Of course it's just my opinion, but this opinion is coming from a person that has played this game for way too much time, and is well above 7k mmr. So we could establish I understand the game quite a bit.

Issue with this is I honestly can't say I get many teammates that don't make me hate playing survivor, so what's the difference. Also in low priority, don't you have to WIN 5 games without DCing in order to get out, and not just play through them?
Only 'la crème de la crème' would play at low, so if you already hate playing survivor with normal teammates you can imagine how bad it can be in low. Dota is a 5v5 game, so winning makes more sense. In dbd, it could be about pipping. Five games where you have to pip. That seems alright to me.
-
In dota 2, if you dc two times in a row you go to low priority. Low priority consists of 2 to 5 matches (depending on your behavior score) where you only get matched up with people that dc'ed as well. Not only your queues take longer, but you also get to play with people that trust me you don't want in your team. I'd love to see something similar in dbd.

You mean the tournament filled with terrible teams that genuinely didn't know how to do gens, with maybe 3 exceptions that were only reasonably close because of perk/item/add-on bans?
I'm not arguing about balance, I think we both think the same on that matter. Who cares how many chill teams were there, there were also nurses that look like they were playing with their eyes shut. It all comes to the final stages. And good teams were for a fact there. When both sides compete under equitable terms, nurse provides a fifty/fifty situation. That's my point.
When the match aims towards skillful gameplay, she has the highest skill ceiling in this game. Even god spirits are capped by design, and well unfortunately I don't think I need to say a word about the rest.
When the match becomes a repairing simulator (casual 'depip squads'), clarifying what could classify as 'winning' under equitable terms might prove useful. Personally, as soon as survivors decide that for them 'winning' is to abuse every possible game mechanic they have at their disposal just to do gens and leave under three minutes, I decide that slugging and one hooking them all is 'winning' for me. Yeah, thrilling gameplay.
I think lots of problems evolve from having this two types of mentalities mixed up in matches, giving really unfair and stupid outcomes for both sides. Problem is the game itself contributes to promote this kind of behavior.
That's why I said they have done a pretty good job with nurse. The game's foundation however is subject to another debate. And no, it shouldn't be like this. This is not what I want for this game. I'd like fair and fun competition, without made up rules devised to compensate for poorly designed mechanics.
My point stands, nurse can compete. Regardless of made up rules. As long as you play under equitable terms, and provided you are up for playing against your opponents and the game as well.
Is it worth your time? I don't think so.

Nowhere near 50/50
I do it. But lets assume im lying, did you see the recent tournament that dowsey and hexy hosted? There were really good teams, and guess which killer dominated against this amazing teams (just look for fingerguns performance). Luckily for us nurse players, nurse is really strong and highly rewards your skill. And you can dominate really coordinated teams, provided you are good. I really wish every killer could be like that, they have done an amazing job with nurse
-
I'd ask for high skill level players opinions on balance matters-
-
The grass is soooo bad, i hate it
-
So basically you are complaining about them solving an exploit. No wonder I disagree so much with you on certain matters, taken from where you opinions come it all makes sense
-
Just like lag switching, stretch res is an exploit as well. That's it. The game is not meant to be played like that, quite simple

Huntress cannot throw a hatchet instantly, and her winding up can be heard and reacted to. She also cannot hit imidiately after putting her hatchet down. If you get hit during a vault, it's usually bc you messed up and/or the huntress outplayed you. The chases feel much more engaging, because there are situations were you have the adventage (in high loops), and situations where the huntress has (open field). It feels like an even playing field.
That's not so much the case against DS, bc his insta-aim, insta-shoot and no cooldown on canceling his power skew the playing field hard into his favor. It's not so much about what you can do to prevent being hit anymore, but whether the DS hits his shoots or not. You are at the "mercy" of the DS slingers skill, which can make the chases either unsatisfying (if you escape DS just bc he is bad and does not hit his shots) or frustrating (bc the DS hits every shot with little you can do about it).
Of course there are exceptions, unfun chases against a huntress and fun chases against DS, but on average I feel it's no stretch to say that being chased by a huntress is preferred by many to being chased by a DS, just because the chases are much more enjoyable with the former one.
It's fun to have good chases, but the problem is the killer needs to win twelve of them. And while someone is in chase, there's three people that are not. So how do we address that? Cause just one long chase can make the killer lose an entire game.
I agree, chases are fun but losing just because on chase is not. The current state of the game doesn't allow long chases for killer. You need to down people way to fast to have a chance, that translates into no fun for survivors. It's a foundation problem.
You are a team, four people that are supposed to beat the one person playing alone by playing as a team. So theoretically you should always be at the killer's skill mercy in a chase, it is supposed to be the power role. Asymmetrical game. That's how they have manage to compensate being one person against four. If you don't want that to happen in chases, it must happen somewhere else. You still have one person against four people.

@ItzNobody said:
Rip my post 😂 ain't nobody interested in Micah Bell I guess.
Appreciate the response @Zeus they can totally get away with a nerf if they compensate with a buff at the same time. That can work 👍👍
Your post was great. Too bad some people didn't take the time to properly read it!
I think the main problem with this killer (along with some others) is that most people fail to see this game as an asymmetrical game. And that's pretty much it. They ask for counterplay on 1v1, failing to see that their true power should lie on beating the killer as a team. That's one of the strongest problems this community has in my opinion.
The killer is supposed to be the power role, you should always be at a disadvantage when in a 1v1 situation. Going down in a chase, is not losing the game. You are supposed to get caught, the key lies on how much time did you manage to buy to your team. Even dying don't mean playing poorly in this game, but people fail to see it that way and therefore - deathslinger don't have counterplay. Truth is deathslinger is quite weak
-
Forgot to add:
- Claudette has been removed from the game indefinitely. 😂
-
I share many with you and have in mind quite a lot more, but the ones that would make me very happy are two:
- Nurse meme addons have been revisited, now they are actually good (come on guys they are ultra rare ones, they are supposed to be good).
I'm not even asking for her bugs to get fixed at this point since i have learnt to play around them (sadly). Just her useless addons 😒
- Added custom game modes (both for kyw and casual lobbies).
Like two killers - eight survivors, no perk limits, custom objectives, etc. The sky's the limit.

The above link is one to a previous discussion of mine about tunneling.
Depending on how you define "tunneling", this may or may not help you.
And also that, it is important to accurately define tunneling. Sometimes it isn't just as @EntitledMyersMain defined on his thread, sometimes is you as a killer not being stupid.
-
@xXCAM3R0NXx said:
I've seen the arguments between those for and against tunnelling. Most of who agree with it are killer mains.
They say its not 'toxic' but a form of 'strategy' and 'skill'. Now I don't know what's clever and well played about hitting the same person over and over again, but that's just me lol.
I'm not totally against tunneling, ive seen killers try their best and get zero hooks, gen rushed and swf'd. All killers want at least a kill and if its endgame, there's no other way but to go after the one whose just been unhooked. It's up to the teammates to bodyblock and distract.
Tunnelling isn't strategy or skill, but merely a form of last resort for kills.
P.S My opinion!
I agree. It is not fun to tunnel, camp, even slugg. And is even less fun to get tunnel, camped or slugged. But the funny thing is when facing really good teams, the game and it's design doesn't allow you to play 'nice' and fair cause if you do so so you are practically asking to get stomped.
I wish this game would require more skill on both sides to prevent things like this from happening, something needs to change. Truth is killers are forced to do these things more often than not. And they are neither fun nor skillful in my opinion.
The game needs a higher skill floor and a higher skill ceiling for both sides.
