I dont think rank matters. However it is the highest rank and you are acting like I dont get good opponents because I'm 3 of from 1. Quite frankly I dont care if you got rank 1 both sides in a week because it really doesnt matter and also good for you I guess?

Dude im not braggin, i'm making a point. I don't care if you dont care. I have seen enough of your thought process though, this is getting nowhere

It was a 4 man SWF. I'm not playing clown into a 4 man without a mori.

And pinky finger takes skill. You would know if you ever used it.

I don't agree with the rest of the people here calling you out on your addons. There is a reason why clown is getting revisited. But moris are a broken thing, and oftenly do set up the match for a not so pleasant experience.

I hope that you can see my point here, you complain about someone being toxic and you answer in a similar manner. That's not an intelligent sequence. You could be the better person and simply just dont give a f about it

Step back for a second since there should definitely be a divide on justifying a "rage quit" due to built in game mechanics by the designers themselves. Perhaps you could argue it's not your personal definition of fun to experience going against them but (forgive my Strawmanning) but it's the same mentality that crosses over into "I hate facing this killer (Spirit for example) - I'll just selfishly ruin the other 4 people's experience because there isn't a DC penalty currently".

One is still distinctly behavior that BHVR doesn't want seen in the game but haven't gotten around to addressing again due to Hackers abusing an exploit to dish out 72 hour bans to people especially streamers.

Perhaps I worded it too strong. No it's not fun to get moried, just as is not fun to lose a game because of a key. I do see the difference between the two situations that you mention.

I still would not dc since I tend to have a pretty good mentality when i play and i manage to have fun on my own regardless of the outcome of the match. But that's me. I do see your point, i think it is a valid one. But i still wouldn't dc.

  • I think both of you were jerks. You bringing a mori which is a total broken thing and him dcing and then complaining about toxicity (while also using a broken element in the game as well). Dcing already tells you all you need to know about a player's mentality. Wrapping it up you are both hypocrites and you both fail to see the irony of the situation lol

  • I agree, I do think they are heading towards a nice direction with these upcoming "perk & balance updates". And graphics updates are always welcome as well. I hope they'll do the same thing with addons eventually, since there are plenty of addons that need to be revisited (cough cough nurse please).

  • Try to make your blinks as fast as possible and ALWAYS aim at their backs. Not right on top of them, make it so you can reach them with your lunge. Also learn to be patient and maximize your stun windows. Sometimes you will hit people right at the end of it.

It is very important if you aim to be a really good nurse that you practice making quick blinks. Another thing is try to study survivors before committing (specially when predicting LOS situations). Once you get better you will be able to read them way easier, even get inside their heads and force them to do certain things. But is all practice and experience, so keep playing and ignore the frustration. Eventually you will be good !

I do think it should be a passive thing for survivors. I really hate how devs use perks to patch bad design issues. Same thing with gen related issues. I think ds should be revisited, but made a passive perk for survivors

Btw by passive i mean a base kit thing. Just like killers special abilities

Ok but games without it are tunnel hell. If it becomes THE anti-tunnel perk, then it becomes mandatory instead of just being meta.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

Hating DS is fine and all, but no one has offered a reasonable alternative for the purpose DS serves which is to not immediately get rehooked again after your first or second hook. You are extremely vulnerable after a hook state and can lead to instantly being taken out of the game. And without DS it is extremely exploitable.

Also ignored is the massive downside of only having one chance to stun the killer which can be missed and never recharges.

So let's say they fixed the gen issue.....how will they fix the people issue? 3 players is a hell of a lot easier to kill than 4. Camping and tunneling actually IS rewarding when not getting gen rushed.

There are lots of posts proposing better ideas to ds, to make it a good anti tunneling perk. Videos as well. I link you one i just saw in a thread here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VT0Ca-nnGo

Ironic you say Nurse is fine when shes the strongest killer in the game.

Oh wait thats because nobody plays her anymore, and even then its only for daily challenges and they arent very good Nurses.

I play nurse, and i do agree she is fine. And i'm a very good nurse as well. Her addons need to be revisited however. But on this one i do agree with @azame. Yeah probably azame thinks nurse is fine cause really good nurses are extremely rare, but one way or another azame is right

To be fair Clown is underrated in my opinion. Maybe it´s because I have a good amount of hours on him and found a good build, maybe it´s because the good players tend to vastly underestimate him. Maybe both :P

Could be. I don't play clown too often so i might be missing out something. But i do know that if i am in a good swf, no m1 killer really stands a chance. Yes people tend to make lots of mistakes just for underestimating, so it could be related to that as well. I also don't see this game as a 1v1. Clown might get people on chases, but the overall match is really difficult for him. And if you are facing a good team, they'll pre drop pallets and do gens

I'm usually rank 1. So now I have to an even higher red rank. Alright man I see what you are trying to do.

I honestly doubt that you do. Do you think that everyone at rank 1 is good? I started playing this game and in less than a week i was rank 1, both killer (only playing ghostface, a m1 killer) and survivor.

Reaching rank 1 is not that hard, cause ranks are not a proper matchmaking system. We need mmr so we can end these stupid debates. Everyone has right to have an opinion, but if you are bad chances are you don't understand the game. Then you come here complaining about a or b. You might be right complaining about a or b, but the better you understand the game, the more richer your opinion is. So i don't know what you meant by "i see what you are trying to do" cause i simply don't follow your logic so far

  • @azame said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1646600#Comment_1646600

I do only rank 4 right now but I do definitely play killer.

You start facing competent people at rank 1, and even then is not a "high level" guarantee since mmr is not a thing yet. My point is, to get the real picture of the game, you need to play both roles consistent and at a really good level. Cause do remember that there is people out there that has problems dealing with clown. So yeah

  • I have a suggestion for you, why don't you play killer? Then you could answer that on your own!

  • Cause you don't make as much money

  • @Almo said:

Pop's duration is being reduced because we found you could spend too much time doing other things and still have it available.

It's got to a point where is just funny. Honestly just funny

  • It is nice to hear there is one more person playing both roles. Afterall by playing just one role you are missing pretty much 50 % of the game! But most important, it can help people comprehend each better thus making a more satisfying experience overall for everyone (and it also makes you better at the game to understand both roles!!). Cheers

  • SWF.

    • Yes is not balanced. Dont matter how bad you are, you are still benefiting from coms. You are taking pretty much 6 perks for free. As to why the game does not support coms yet? Who knows. Maybe the devs didn't get the memo yet.
    • People being able to play together is a key factor to this game income. And honestly why should you forbid people from playing together? That's not the problem. Problem is devs failing to realize its 2020 and who on earth will play a co-op game without coms. Honestly just a flaw from them
    • No, you losing a game is not only because of swf. You can make mistakes as well. People can be good as well regardless of being in a swf or not.
    • You have to understand that not every killer can put up with really strong challenges. And of course your input also matters. In a logical world, you are not supposed to beat people who is better than you. So first try to analyze whether you are losing because of your own mistakes (more likely) or if it is due to the game on its on (possible, but only once you have become really good).
    • Learn nurse.

Wrapping it up, DBD is not a balanced game and swf is a factor that contributes to amplify and show those flaws easily. But no, is not the only reason why you are losing and chances are you are losing because of your own mistakes. If you don't care about being good at the game, then you shouldn't care about winning

Here's the important part. These are not in any particular order. But you only ever hear people quote #1. I promise #1 is not the only reason we changed Ruin; it's just one piece in the puzzle.

We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:

    1. Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
    2. The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
    3. Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.

    1. ts inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.

So inconsistency is a thing you don't want in your game. I don't mean to be a dick, this is not a bad intended question. Why don't you rework totems once and for all? They have a major issue related with inconsistency much worse than ruin had back in the day.

You have adopted this strategy for quite some time which is to 'patch' bad design with perks (ds, any antigen perk). Hex undying is yet another example. Forgive me, but forcing a killer to run two perks in order to be able to actual get some value from one of them is just an insult to people's intelligence. Please, stop patching bad design with perks. Like you did with ruin, revisit totems design, revisit gen design. It's about time

  • Four percent already is a second chance that shouldn't exist yet you want to make it more powerful. You realize it rewards survivors and punishes killers out of nowhere?

People sometimes have problems understanding that you are playing against a person not an AI and what that brings. If this were a PVE game then sure, why not. Screw AI. But you are playing against a person, that already has a lot to do own it's and on top of that you want to make them deal with a 20% chance of them escaping when they did their job just fine? Does it really make sense in your head?

Its actually quite simple why 2 modes will only make things MUCH worse.

    1. The queue time will wastly increase until all/most are just playing in one mode to reduce queue time.
    2. The ranking system is mostly only there to try and put people vs people that they have a chance against
    3. There are a lot of "casual" players that absolutely slaughter survivors and run the killers forever. Saw a Hag player that was angry during the mmr system he was getting placed against red ranks while he was rank 13. Then showed images of his games to prove it.....where he killed almost everyone...only proving the mmr system was kind of working.
    4. And finally the biggest reason why this is a terrible idea. If there is a competitive mode and a casual mode without any matchmaking (otherwise what is the casual part?)....who do you think is gonna go into the casual mode? People that want chill games? Sure. But also people that just wanna slaughter/bully/easy games. The people that will play casual will be casuals...and people that the casuals wanted away from.

The terrible idea works perfect on other games. I have mentioned before, I used to play several other games to a really competitive level. I am not suggesting things out of nowhere. People is not always looking forward to do harm, sure they'll be pricks. Pricks are all over the world and they come in colors and names for you to pick them.

I do stand for mmr, mmr will show how unbalanced some situations can get. Yet mmr is a tool for a competitive environment, regardless of your tier, you will be competing. There is people that just wants to have fun or troll or whatever- therefore casual lobby is not a bad idea. You can even get creative and tweak things to have different game modes to make it even more enjoyable.

I used to play Dota 2 at 7k mmr. I could have been professional if i wanted to. I still played casual games from time to time just to chill or have fun in a different manner than just competing. Variety is never a bad thing. Lack of variety it is

Rank 20 survivors waa trapper killed me!!

Rank 1 survivors clicky clicky "walking the dog" GG EZ

Rank 20 killers or as i call them Daily task killers being played by survivor mains, Hue hue killer EZ why people complain?

Rank 1 killers Sweat Sweat Sweat Sweat and only play one of 3 killers to make a single mistake and lose anyway.

TLDR survivors complaining about killers are on the really low and boosted end of the spectrum while killers complaining about survivors are at the high end of the spectrum going against people that understand the mechanics of the game and use every advantage available.

Region and hours that you play at also come into consideration e.g. I play in Argentina-Brazil at late night, and I only go against sweaty swf. There is not a single match where at least two people are solos. So my experience is not "every so often you get this type of matches" (argument we usually get in this forum). Is pretty much every time I play. And i enjoy it, cause if i play at day i go against total potatoes. So i go from playing nurse on an extreme sweaty level to playing clown, pig, WRAITH and obliterate them.

The gap between good and casual is enormous. There are really strong balance issues at the top, but the vast majority of people don't experience them (which is a logical thing - gaussian distribution, region, time). When mmr comes into play this things will be more clear for the devs. Right now you don't have a proper way to measure a player's skill.

The debate from my point of view stands whether the game should be balance around casuals or ideal scenarios (best survivors vs best killers). But I doubt things will change soon, from what I can see they like their game just as it is. It's a pity. The game is good, but it could be great (esport)

Another question, attacking survivors with the blight power counts as a primary attack? Can you gain token with it?

It doesn't, neither you win nor lose tokens.

When the point being made is that they're more powerful now than they've ever been before, it is absolutely fair to bring up the many, many examples (these only be a few) of how they were significantly stronger in the past. If you want to say that you still think they're too powerful, you can definitely just say "In my opinion, survivors are too strong right now" and that's totally fine, but exaggerating for effect doesn't make the argument any stronger.

Maybe this has been answered before but I am kind of new. Why don't you guys create two separate lobbies, casual and competitive. You have a problem in your game which is an enormous gap between competitive players and casual ones. There are a lot of examples out there: Dota 2, CSGO, LoL.. that just by the fact of creating this two options, without any specific tweak, people is more happy.

I get it, these "balance problems" are not experienced by the vast majority of the players, but you still have quite a lot of people that does experience them. Why don't you listen to them? Maybe you were waiting for mmr to have proper data. I do think mmr would have shown these problems some of us along with some strong streamers have been pointing out.

And yes, for what I have seen survivors were extremely powerful back in the day. Saying they are now stronger than ever is not correct.

  • I started playing dbd after her rework and maining her a few months later. I absolutely love nurse despite all her bugs and I have learnt to play around them. Of course it should not be like this but well, it is what it is.

I don't agree with people thinking she is weak. I can imagine she was more appealing before, and she is perhaps more difficult to learn now more than ever. But once you learn her to a proper level, you are a ######### god. She is still the best killer in the game and the most balanced one in my opinion.

You and I, we both made posts regarding her bugs. Hope they'll see them. It is about time. Also her addons need some attention as well. As for this moment the are only 4 addons truly viable on her. Ultra Rare ones are completely useless, instead they should be the more powerful ones. We can only hope.

Still, despite her addons being bad and all of her bugs, if you have skill with her she is lethal. She is the best killer in the game and the one that rewards skill the most. I'll never grow tired of playing her

  • As the dev pointed out in his/her post the game has been design like this and it is an interesting way of representing predator-prey interactions. There are some problems in the game that neglect this dynamic the devs were apparently aiming for, just like the one I mentioned above by joking but the camera is not one of them in my humble opinion..

  • Ok fine, she is absolutely broken. Plis nErf

  • @Almo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1545581#Comment_1545581

    This is correct.

The camera difference is one of the most important aspects of DBD. The Killer is a predator and the Survivors are prey. The cameras help shape their behavior along those lines by modelling in a gameplay way how real predators and prey interact.

"The Killer is a predator and the Survivors are prey"

Strange. I could swear sometimes is the other way around. I must be wrong

    *Laughs in sweaty swf*

  • How strange a person that mains a determined side not being able to see a problem on the opposite one. I am not even going to bother honestly. Some people have the capacity to overcome and use their brains, and others just prefer not to. I get it, abstract thinking is a difficult thing for some (we see it everyday in every other aspect of life so why not in a ######### game as well). Gen tapping is kinda dumb, don't worry I think sooner rather than later it will be tweaked. Probably buffing gen kicking in order to punish survivors for gen tapping. Perhaps instant regresion like pop but only two or three percent.

  • You are clearly complaining about not complaining, you filthy animal

  • Some people are talking that by PTB we will have it

  • @michaelmorton said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/182219/noed-should-be-disabled-after-50hrs

I completely agree as a guy who plays both sides noed rewards bad gameplay if u get out played than u take the loss and move on and try to improve don't rely on noed to get kills and the whole break the totems argument is so dumb if u have to go around the map spending a ######### load of time breaking totems it already puts u at a disadvantage for the mach

Are you aware how quick some games can go? Don't you think totems were meant in first place to slow the game a little bit? And they actually failed. Once again, really good teams have 0 problem managing totem perks. It only gets uphill for people that are not that good, but then again, it is a matter of skill, not balance

  • Forgot to add, she can still get hurt a lot no matter how good she is by some maps. Those extremely large ones. But i think no killer actually stands a chance in these maps. At least not against good organized teams. Chances are these maps will get tweaked however (hopefully)

  • @Hippie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1519435#Comment_1519435

    Of course!

To begin, Nurse technically has zero counters (except rushing gens to end the game as fast as possible, and a good Nurse can snowball easily and stop that). There are no perks that actually counter Nurse, unlike Spine Chill and Iron Will to counter Spirit. Dead Hard really isn't even a counter to Nurse, because it only buys you a little bit more time, or none at all (Nurse can wait after a blink and lunge-attack further than Dead Hard's range).

So, while Nurse can go through pallets, windows AND floors (Saloon, The Game, Hawkins), Spirit already loses in that aspect. She still has to mind windows, pallets, and can't teleport though floors or obstacles. Spirit is also hard-countered by Iron Will, since she mostly relies on hearing to catch Survivors with her power, and Spine Chill also lets you know if Spirit is heading in your direction while she's phasing. And yes, Stridor works well with Spirit, but it still is hard to play against Iron Wills with Stridor.

Also, Nurse's power only takes 3 seconds per blink to recharge (1.5 seconds with double recharge addons!), while Spirit's power takes a whopping 15 seconds to recharge (and if I calculated correctly, it can only be lowered to 10.7 seconds with double recharge addons). Also, Spirit's power can only be used once the meter is full, while Nurse doesn't have to have both blinks ready to use her power.

And finally, map pressure. Nurse is a 3.85 speed Killer, but can take range + recharge speed addons to help her traverse maps more efficiently (I myself don't use range addons but I can see how they would help), while Spirit is a 4.4 speed Killer with a power that can help her traverse the map, but takes forever to recharge... unlike Nurse's blinks. Not to mention that Spirit's power gives audio cues throughout her phasing, letting you know how close she is to you. Nurse does give audio cues when she blinks, but it doesn't matter too much when she just blinks on top of your location. Plus, Nurse always has vision when using her power, and Spirit does not.

The reason that people say Nurse is not as powerful as Spirit is because most Nurse players are bad. The times that I've played against good Nurses have been brutal, and they wipe my entire team in minutes. I played against a red rank Nurse on Fractured Cowshed who decimated my team with ease, using a recharge addon and range addon, and all of the tricks that people claim to work had no effect. Run towards her? She'd just cut the blink short and hit you anyway. Make distance? She'd use one blink for positioning and then the second blink to land on top of you. There was no counterplay possible. I also played against a decent Nurse on the Chapel, and even though she wasn't great at Nurse, she was using double recharge addons and was able to catch you just by spam blinking.

As I said before, I'm a red rank Nurse main and I actually play Nurse just to have an easy game, because Survivors really can't do anything when you use Nurse's blinks properly. I used to pick Nurse against SWF teams just so I couldn't be bullied! I've also played quite a bit of Spirit in red rank, and, honestly, the only reason that Survivors die so easily to Spirit is because they're extremely predictable. They don't use structures and windows, they run out in the open for no reason, and they don't even try to mindgame when Spirit is using her power. I think that if more people would actually dedicate the time to learning how to play against a Spirit, they would have better games against her.

I would also like to mention that you can hear Spirit's footsteps while she's phasing, and they're loud as heck... 😛

Sorry for the wall of text, but I really did want to elaborate as to how Spirit has more counterplay!

Nurse does have counterplay. However, if you are facing a really good nurse, you must be a really good survivor to be able to stand a chance. Which makes sense doesn't it ? In order to beat a high skill level player you are supposed to be one, or am i speaking nonse here?

Imo she is the best killer-survivor we have so far. She is extremely difficult to play to this level, i'm even thinking you haven't face this kind of nurse so far.

To be able to make accurate blink predictions when LOS is lost (which is what separates a god nurse from a superb) you don't only require to play her to a close to perfect level but yet also understand a lot how survivors think and act under certain situations. And even then, if you face someone that understands nurse to this level you can still get juked. So it is an endless situation where the better player comes on top. Chances are if you struggle against a nurse either she is better than you, or you are not that good. I already stated that to play nurse to this level is actually really difficult, so to be able to counter her should be as difficult as well. Which is fine, youshouldn'tt be able to beat better players than you.

Spirit on the other side, might need some tweaks but not nerfs, and she can still be countered. Most survivors don't bother playing killer to a high level, so it makes sense they don't understand how to play around these killers (which are the only ones that allow someone to outplay you, the others are just a chase simulator honestly).

  • NeRf SpIrIt

  • Although not being a common thing it is still not okey, it still shows how broken things are and how much the game actually carries people instead of their own skill. There is way too many survivors that bully killers and it only takes to be in com. Are they actually good? By mere definition of being top %, i hardly doubt it (if everyone is so good then no one really is it, the word loses sense).

The game has a real problem when it comes to this level. And yes some people might not experience it too often, but others might. It is up to the region you play at and the hours you play at. It also doesn't take that much skill as I stated above to start exploding these aspects and making the game so uphill for killers. The game carries you.

I really do have fun just watching how some people do believe and are actually convinced they have skill when they bully some killer, nothing to do with the game, just their own skill of course.

There are even "tournament teams" despite this game having no real balance at his top level. I used to play Dota 2 at 7k mmr, an actual competitive game that hosts the most important esport tournament in the world. Forgive me if I laugh at people that takes this game so serious and think they have skill

  • @Manky said:

I know the "just do bones" idea comes up a lot, but since noed is so goddamn powerful, I think it should be a lit totem throughout the match. Not only will this make it more fair on survivors who have managed to do all 5 gens, it also gives a massive incentive to cleanse totems, making haunted grounds an even better perk. Another possible idea would be that the killer has to have a certain amount of chase points and a few hooks for it to activate. If the killer hasn't hooked anyone in the trial, then why do they get a free kill or two with noed? They havent earned it. However, if they have two or three hooks already then maybe they are worthy of a few kills and noed becomes active at the end of the game. Its the most annoying thing when you run a killer for 3 gens then finish the last few gens without the killer getting a single hook just for noed to pop and I get facecamped for their bloodpoints, despite me fully earning those escape points. Its straight up robbery, something needs to change. Noed is worse than moris imo, yeah the killer is playing the game with one less perk but they could get kills running only noed, it doesnt matter what else they run. Ik that mod said its balanced but nah thats just not true. They are running with one less perk but in the end that last perk appears and just ends the game needing 0 skill.

Also im fully aware that there are survivor perks like unbreakable and ds that just need to be changed. I play both killer and survivor so im not just being entitled here, but this is a post about noed, not ds.

If you are referring to me, I answered his post and also pointed out how biased his view was by just mentioning those perks and how they do worse than noed. All totem perks are useless at top tier. I do understand how they can become a problem in lower tiers, but that's not a balance issue, that's a skill issue

  • I never stayed away, but Nursie. I mained ghost face till I started playing at top % which as you can imagine was unbearable, so I learnt nurse. There is no killer I enjoy as much as nurse, although sometimes I do tend to get a little bit tired of only playing her.

  • Complaining about a perk which i do agree compensates bad plays yet no saying anything about how ds, unbreakable, dead hard play the same roll and are in fact way more powerful. I don't know man. Killer getting kills that didn't deserve is frustrating, now bear with me and imagine how killers feel when these mentioned perks come into play saving survivors after they commit mistake after mistake.

Not to mention every game with at least decent players won't have a single totem by the minute all gens are done, specially for their spawn locations (they spawn right next to bloody survivors main objective more often than not, just funny). There is a reason why not a single totem perk is meta at top level, they don't last 20 seconds more so if facing a team in coms.

  • There is a reason for that. Pc survivors are sweaty as well. In my region, I used to go against swf over and over again before mmr and cross play. The only way to enjoy the game was to learn nurse, so i did. And i'm a pretty ######### good nurse, but I was kind force to do it due to the toxic environment pc survivors can provide.

Now im chillin a bit, even using the weakest killers. Console player tend to be more chill and less toxic, so I answer in the same manner. I think bhvr did something great

I like the crossplay it's cool to play with different platforms. Even with the pc player's superiority complex I still enjoy my time playing as a console user while on crossplay and proud of it. So, continue to disrespect console users if it makes you guys feel content because quite frankly it doesnt phase me in any way I have too much pride for that. Let it be known, period.

By no means, at least my comment, was meant to disrespect people on console. Actually a compliment, you are more pleasant to play against (from my experience). I can play more casual which is amazing, I even let people escape

I ran into one, it was a David. He wasn't as skilled as he thought he was.

I've been going easy on them and giving hatch or door. I don't know if its console players being weaker, or I'm just so used to the 12k combined hour survivor teams that people in purple ranks just don't stand a chance. I will know more when I go against the red rank console players.

I play at red ranks, but maybe it's a region thing. They are chill, i'm considering to stop playing nurse

  • He limps and is forced to chase people around. A little bit of empathy

  • Then just disable cross-play. Or play nicer. I'm a nurse main, and i'm actually considering to stop playing her cause console survivors are a little bit more chill in my experience but also less toxic, so i can just play more casual, which is a well received thing for me
