As we all know things are (once again) broken since the last update in DBD. Especially that super cool gen bug that turns clear wins into clear losses is super fun.
Now to my point: I faced multiple SWF groups today that tried and sometimes managed to trigger that bug on purpose to turn their clear losses into an insta win with 3 gens remaining. After that I got the 2 remaining survs teabagging me at the exit gate, writing ez like 10 times in chat and admitting that they know this bug exists and therefor their 2 colleagues dced because it is a "survivor strategy". I find this entire interaction annoying to put it gently.
Also am I the only one that thinks at this point the entire game should just be killswitched for like a week so the devs can iron out the worst issues and maybe fix some code so it doesnt break more and more with each new update. I mean I really like that the devs are communicating about these issues and that they are working on fixing stuff but gamebreaking bugs like these should imo at most be in the game for like 1-2 days until they are fixed and not 1- multiple weeks until the next hotfix arrives.
Purposely triggering a bug to succeed is great for the short term but generally the folks who put too much effort in trying trigger it every game says something about their skill level. Report the bug, keep on it and when it gets fixed people will scramble to find the next exploit. It is up to you to choose to keep playing or not, and that is valid if you decide to take a break.

We are getting a RESIDENT EVIL CHAPTER tomorrow and you are still arguing about the same ######### thats been settled a million times. I hate this place.
I know this bait, but hey I'm psyched for the RE crossover. Gonna die a little inside when one of the survivors is Barry, but thats my own personal issue. Can't fathom who the killer is, but there are so many options that would be awesome or hilarious.

So its early in the morning for me, I cant sleep so I thought I'd hope onto DBD and just have a game or two as the Nurse (still trying to practice with her), got into the game and straight away I spot someone, get the down then someone else DCs which you know, its early in the morning, maybe they dont wanna go against a Nurse player which is understandable, then once I hooked the downed survivor, the other two simply give up, they allowed to be downed straight away, which once against I was like, okay, understandable, they dont wanna go against a nurse player this early in the morning or just dont wanna try to 3 man the game
So comes to endgame chat and what do we have? Survivors literal first thing they say "Report the killer" Like what? I go on to ask why would you report me for a game that wasn't my fault, they go onto say, "you could of farmed with us, we were giving you the signs to farm" like so? Bruh if I dont wanna farm, dont get super salty at me in the endgame chat, I aint here to babysit survivors, then one of them goes onto say that Im a hetero (I dont really know what that means in terms of insulting) and that I should just kill myself and that it would make the world a better place, least I have reason to report the person now xD
It completely boggles my mind to some peoples thought process on how that in some world this was my fault to them giving up on the game, then saying to report the killer, put their username on the forums so other survivors can see to what end though? I honestly dont get some survivors in this game sometime
SO yeah I just wanted to share that experience with you guys and just wanted to know what kind of entitled survivors you have all came across in your journeys of being the killer, because boi that was something so confusing to why I would be reported for a game that they chose to lose purposely xD They also said they were gonna report me here, so Im casually waiting to see if that is a bluff or not
TLDR: Got reported for playing the killer the way they didnt want me to
EDIT* Just to add some more salt to the conversation, this is what he had to say on my profile in response to me asking him why he was so angry and told me to kill myself
You did nothing thats deemable to a reportable offense. Frankly if they are too lazy to play the game to earn whatever it may be, they should find a new game to play. And the end bit is a reportable offense as well as a guranteed comm ban on most platforms. So you shouldn't let it gst to you.

Trying to explain this game to some colleagues brought something into sharp focus for me.
Tunneling isn't bad.
Some of you won't see that as new information, others are already rushing to tell me how wrong I am. Here's my case
Camping is punished by the game. Camp hooks all match? You'll likely end up with a silver or even bronze chase medal, no matter what else you do.
Does anyone know the penalty for tunneling? Trick question, there isn't one. In fact, I would argue 99% of the time tunneling the first Survivor out will result in a higher score, better chance of winning, and yes, more bp.
Why? Because BHVR isn't out to punish tunneling.
"But Asher," you say, "what about DS? The anti-tunnel perk?"
Exactly. BHVR is so certain tunneling as a mechanic will happen that they gave survivors a trick to deal with it
"But doesn't that mean tunneling is bad?"
Depends, is doing gens bad? Everything from Dragon's Grip to NOED exists to stop or counter gen rushing, yet I wouldn't think to argue against fixing the generators quickly, they are after all the Survivor's objective, and the Survivor team is free to approach that objective in whatever manner they feel most efficient.
Killers have 4 objectives, should they not also get the freedom to approach that objective in the most efficient manner?
"But it's no fun being tunneled"
Sure, just like it's no fun being focus fired on as support in Overwatch or TF2. Just like I'm certain it's no fun to be sacked on your own 20yd line as the QB. So? You've got 3 teammates, 2 perks, countless pallets and windows, use them.
(This line removed as it seems I overestimated the average visitor to these forums ability to understand metaphor) no matter how nicely I ask when maining Mercy, if the opposing team sees me, they'll kill me asap. The difference between those situations and DbD is only in the amount of whining afterwards.
You want to stop tunneling? Play as a team. Just stop acting like it's somehow morally wrong for a killer to kill efficiently.
This is a valid point and I can agree there is nothing wrong with tunneling. On the same note, I could argue that the use of such tactics as tunneling, slugging and camping the hook are valid in given situations. Demonizing the mechanics of the game has become common place when you either suck at countering it or don't know how to. But the issue I run into are folks who use the same strat for every single game. Rinse and repeat and honestly it gets dull at least to my opinion. Not to mention the off chance they run into someone who absolutely counters it and they get immensly salty.

Lately as soon as survivors see i play doc 1 dcs out of every 10 games...just a curiosity I know people DC vs freddy Myers and spirit but what makes a person say nope I would rather take the penalty? A friend of mine dcs if he gets haddonfield as killer🤣
There's a multitude of reasons a player of this game dcs. The most commonly used exscuse is "I que'd knowing full and well I had to be somewhere in less than five minutes." But I've seen folks dodge games for a plethora of reasons of " I don't like [BLANK]". It could be the killer, a map, a specific perk, one of the other survivors, the vibe, the killer, the way their pants are chafing, its not Pyramid Head, it is Pyramid Head, its the Doctor, its a killer they don't like or just because. It has nothing to do with you there will always be a reason, and no matter how many soft bans they get they'll keep doing it.

Someone on Reddit made a big spreadsheet showing information on what perks what killers run. For instance how many trappers that are documented ran say whispers or nurse's calling.
Here's the sheet itself, and here's the submission form
They just need more people to submit data to make it more accurate. Add stuff that you get to it to help it out.
I know a lot of decent Clowns also run nurses calling beings it pairs super nice with Coulrophobia and Unnerving Pressence for a very nasty no healing build

Before the 6000 hour nurse mains go bonkers let me preface, i UNDERSTAND, nurse is hard to play. She is the hardest killer to play in the game and has the highest skill floor and ceiling . But the idea of a mastered killer entirely dominating a game, i.e nurse mains at rank 1 having 100+ 4ks in a row because there just ISNT counterplay to her kit other than her own player being worse. Similar to spirit where the only counter is the killer making a mistake which is poor gameplay
Honestly to an extrnt i agree that a rework needs to happen. Maybe not as extrnsively as you would like. The other issue with killers like Nurse, Huntress, and Deathslinger is that they are optimized for PC play. Almost 99 percent of the Nurses who have sub par gameplay are new console players who have no idea and the struggle is real. Second Nurse has good tells and if you are a survivor worth your salt you can out manuever a good Nurse. I think the people who are good with these characters earned their right to say so with such a niche tool kit.

I’ve been playing casually since it came out for free in the PlayStation store for Halloween 2 or 3 years ago. I’m a survivor main and so, Im rank 20 killer. My best killer is level 15. I never play killer unless I have a daily or rift challenge, even then I usually go easy and farm and play super friendly. I go out of my way to avoid slugging, camping and tunneling.
I’m also very very busy. Full time job, full time dad to three kids, and a part time college student. I literally only get enough free time to play one or two matches a day.
Survivor ques are insanely long in the evening. So I have to play killer (even though I hate it) if I want to get my game in after work and before bed.
The past 3 days I keep going up against these “rank 19” SWF who have purple unbreakable, borrowed time, decisive strike and adrenaline. All 4 survivors are “rank 19ish” but have level purple perks, bring purple flashlights and loop like red rank survivors.
I might get one hook an entire game. It’s a complete waste of my time.
These guys are pure toxic. They play super aggressive, they taunt all match, they troll and follow me around the map and teabag. It’s ######### awful that this system lets toxic survivors derank and just bully unskilled killers. I really really hate this game right now.
I need to reiterate again that this has been every single game I’ve played for the past 3 days. I haven’t played against a similar skilled survivor.
When I play survivor, if I know the killer is new, I try to go easy, let them get some hooks, let them chase and catch me.
I hate that there are people out there in this community who would go through so much work to derank for the sole purpose of ruining someone else’s day.
It’s one thing to teabag or grief a killer that you fairly outplayed, but it’s another thing to go into a match with the sole purpose of ruing someone else’s experience.
Teabagging is a result of an easy match, bullying is purposely adjusting your rank for the sole purpose of being an #########.
######### this game's matchmaking for being based solely on rank. I hate this. It’s not just the game, the fact that people out there can be so ######### cruel online makes me almost physically ill. It’s such an absolute unnecessarily mean thing to do to someone.
You’re not even playing the game. One hook, and minimal healing, you're not getting pips or BP. Your goal is just to bully. ######### needs to be bannable.
I know this struggle and its why I definately have more hours on survivor than killer. But as you said already, you're a casual player. The hyper aggressive meta that the community has created isn't going away. However you don't have to get good at the game. Sticking wity those matches, taking note of what your killer is lacking, taking stock in what tactics people use easily on you and learning to counter it is all part of the game. You don't have to be a savant over night. Have fun, ignore the trash talking and take the game at your own pace.

Need I say any more? This build is used in almost every game at the higher ranks due to how simple it makes defending the generators. There's no skill or (real) counterplay to this combo. There is counterplay to BBQ, hiding in lockers, but doing that when repairing a generator just wastes precious time. That means there's more chance the killer will get to the generator before it's repaired and ruin all your hard work and effort for no effort or investment at all.
The killer just hooks a survivor (easy enough) and sees everyone's aura, and then they can go to generators being worked on and instantly get rid of 30-40 or more seconds of a generator repair progression, counting the fact it applies normal regression ON TOP OF the massive gen progress decrease. There's nothing the survivor can do about it. It doesn't even have a cool down, so if someone tries to repair the generator to make up for the unavoidable regression loss, the killer can just do it again with no penalty. It literally punishes you for playing well, and I don't know if that's healthy.
I realise this will probably be seen as a joke or bait by the people of this forum, but I'm being serious. This build is used in almost every high rank game - even the Decisive Strike + Unbreakable combo isn't used that often, yet the BBQ+Pop combo is the one ignored. It reeks of hypocrisy to me. Both combos are uncounterable without literally stopping doing your objective. Killers should face the same stigma for running these mindless combos that survivors are given, and I'm sick of this community giving them a free pass.
Tl;dr: Killers are hypocrites for complaining about good survivor perk combos when they use an overpowered and uncounterable perk combo every game. It's the small PP build for killer.
If this perk combo is rocking your world so bad it isn't the killer's fault. Gens do not take that long to finish uf you have more than one person not missing skill checks so there's gotta be something else at play here.

the perk legit did nothing before the buff. it gave you 100% more bloodpoints but it didnt affect gameplay. you will never see this perk unless its in a healing build or bp build
Giving more bp is not nothing. If you get a build right you can net a lot of bp equal to a successful game even if you get 4k'd. It opens up a secure way to farm the currency needed to unlock literally everything in the game to make builds and experiment without depending on having to win. Less stress, easy farm, and helps you learn they game by adding more to your disposal for testing out.

For as common of a perk it is to take, which shouldn't really be a thing because that means survivors could afford to waste a perk slot on it and still escape easily (brings "balance" into question) but now, slugging is worthless, more than before. There are no killer perks that give such a large speed boost in such a niece area (not a 100% pick-up/drop/hooking, nothing like that.)
I don't believe it's faviortisium from the devs, simply lack of actual game knoolage.
I propose its dropped from 100% (which reduces the time to heal someone from dying to injured from 16 to 8 seconds, this is without the slugged survivor recovery.) To a 25%, to bring it in line with other action speed changes that killer get offered from perks. Up to 25% from Fire-Up, 20% from Brutal Strength, 15% from Bamboozle.
While there are Killer perks they can give 40% or 50%, there is after all only 1 killer, not 4. So in reality, the downed to injured heal time as it currently is can be further reduced from 8 seconds to less than 4 seconds (healing is done in charges per second, if each survivor heals for 2 per second, it'll only take around 3 seconds to bring them up.)
The overall problem is that, with certain builds, survivors can heal tank at exit gates and escape. Kinda like what happened with old Freddy.
I hadn't been running the perk in awhile, but I thought the purpose of it was making being altruistic more rewarding, not countering slugging. Cause you can counter slugging by not getting hit. Rather just keep the bonus bp for safe unhooks and taking a hit, the rest doesn't do much for me, but thats my opinion.

Can anyone tell me why killer mains complain about survivors doing gens and hiding?
I just had a solo surv game 2 of us escaped and 2 died on hook the end of game chat the killer put
ez gen rushing and hiding all game = trash ez
doing gens is the only objective of survivors i don't get what you want? survivor to do one gen and then wait five mins to start the next one and in my opinion you can only gen rush as a SWF as you can all communicate on what gens you are on and what to do as solo you have no clue what gens people are on.
What makes it even better is them complaining of survivors hiding, if we can hide we will its not the aim to get hit or hooked ( plus this game there was chases, including with me not our fault if you cant keep up sometimes)
I just don't get why some killers complain about people doing gens especially when its all solo survivors. IT IS THE AIM OF THE GAME !
The fact you took the time to make this post means he got to you. Just ignore it. The important thing is having fun. They are just trying to bring you down beings they didn't get a 4k game.

Just had a match where everyone was constantly grouped together and the minute I hooked someone they would unhook. Of course most of them had Dead Hard except one. They kept trying to bodyblock and would never leave the hook so forced me to camp. Finally downed the one who didn’t have dead hard and killed him. Everyone else escaped. Think they were a team cause I could never find them for the longest. Also I’m low level Killer 13. Getting ranked with sweaty tryhard reds. The one I killed messaged me accusing me of tunneling and I need to get skills. It’s not my fault they all hovered around the hook and I couldn’t leave. I seriously wanted to DC cause it was the swamp, everything was dark and all everyone do was crouch. I only get one kill and I get hate for it. And of course these survivors were toxic. Constantly tbagging and such. I managed to hook and chase others so I wasnt tunneling. I mostly camped the dude during endgame cause they were constantly around me. All of them.
It made me feel like a loser honestly. They had all the advantages in this match and I had practically none. I was the Huntress. I can throw a hatchet....yay. Honesty doesn’t make me want to play Killer anymore.
As a survivor main I can happily reassure you that what you were doing was not tunneling. They were just blaming you for their own shortcomings. Tunneling is singling out a single player like the others don't exist. Other survivors could get in a tunneler's way and get downed but be left in the dirt because they only focus the one target. Is it against the rules? No. Is it a guranteed fool proof way to win? No. There have been no rules about tunneling. The counter play has no happy medium on balance so this is gonna be a struggle.

I understand where you're coming from, but let's say I have a power surge that turns off my console mid game, I don't want to come back and be banned for it. Things like this have happened go me, fortunately not often enough to get a long ban.
They already have something implimented for that kind of DCing. I've dc'd due to power outages, dog knocking the router plug out, and even spotty internet. It mostly affects people who use the menu to leave mid match or quiting to dashboard. Your fear of wrongly being banned are a smidge over exaggerated

I don’t know why killer mains want SWF nerfed so badly. You’re literally just having fun with your friends. Not every SWF is a “bully squad” as killers call them, most just want to talk and have fun sometimes even meme. I get I get it, some perks are broken with SWF and comms take over specific perks but if you take away SWF you’ll probably be winning 99% of your killer matches.
I see this from both sides. SWF is such a novel and expected part of the game you're always going have people defend it. There's gotta be a middle ground, like potentially adding more objectives for killer and survivor to offset willingly going into a stompfest, so the mentality is "Yeah I lost but at least I got to do this." But you have to find something that pleases both sides, doesn't break the core mechanics of the game, or make it too tedious that no one will wanna play. That is not any easy task and no solution will please everyone. But giving it the ol college tryband providing constructive feedback when they try new things is crucial.

According to the Q&A stream Devs are monitoring PH. Most likely PH will get "minor changes" (still getting nurse flashbacks)...
Let us remember what so many people have complained about. I personally can only remember two specific things:
- Canceling Rites of Judgment (switching from M2 to M1) has a cooldown of 0.5 seconds. According to many people here this is much too low, because PH can simply fake his M2 without any punishment (0.5 seconds is not really noticeable). The legendary "get hit or get hit"-Situation was born.
- PH can negate a lot of perks because of his cages. Especially DS and BT users are NOT happy about that.
So what could they change to make people happy again? Increase the cooldown from 0.5 to 1 second? 1.5 second? 2 seconds? Yeah.. I don't know what they're planning, but a higher cooldown most likely means that he can no longer fake his ability. Since this is his TRUE STRENGTH, such a change would make him drop from tier A to tier C in no time (since I am not a friend of tiers this is only to illustrate that he would lose much of his viability).
So if the cooldown should be increased, then he should get something in return. I don't know what that could be, but just increasing the cooldown alone would kill PH. I don't even want to talk about the scond point. He has a unique ability and that is a good thing imo. But that alone doesn't make a good killer and I really hope that they don't mess him up.
What do you think about it? Will I soon be a sad PH main or will they find a good solution without ruining it completely?
If I may be so bold, I think his cage system should be all or nothing. Either all perks work with his gameplay mechanics or both killer and survivor hook perks should be useless when considering cages to keep a level playing field. It'd be fair beings it'd force PH to weigh the pros and cons of playing like a normal killer and risk DS and BT or use the cages and lose the benefits of BBQ and Chili and other perks. Secondly, DS is easy to negate well before PH was a thing so I'd redirect your focus on making it less easy to cancel out beings you can either wait it out or juggle a survivor to negate it. Not to mention BT is kind of a thin bandaid to apply to being tunneled. Not that tunneling is a problem, its a viable option yet all thr current options can do is slow it, not stop it.

Especially if they are newer to playing killer and Don't know what they are doing. Let's try and be kind people to one another. And Ik ik, some killers have certain playstyle's they like that we don't ,but we do as well; have playstyle's we like but they dislike. Let's try and remember that at the end of the day we all Play this game to have Fun. So yeah, Love y'all and be safe out there during these Hard times ✌

Survivor, moreso solo, just seems very frustrating and boring compared to killer. The only thing that seems to be fun about playing survivor is being chased but after a few matches I just can't deal with bad teammates giving me a headache or just sitting on gens anymore and I go back to killer.
As a killer, however, YOU are the action. You get to be the one chasing the survivors. As a survivor only one person gets to have the killers attention at a time otherwise the best thing for you to be doing is sitting on gens, but as killer you'll always have someone to be chasing therefore you'll always be in the heat of the action throughout the game. In addition to that; every one of the 20 killers has their own unique ability(s) that you can play around with using different perks and add-ons with some of said killers being fan favorites from classic slasher films yet the majority of the player base are survivors. Not to mention we don't have to worry about dumb teammates screwing us over. As for survivors they're all just different skins with the same basic abilities as all the other survivors. Yes they can customize themselves with perks but most of them opt to run the same things every game anyways.
As for gen speeds yea I'm aware they can be a problem if you're playing a low tier killer and get a bad map or if the survivors are extremely well coordinated but pretty soon we're gonna be getting a boost to our early game to make these things easier to deal with.
Overall I just don't find survivor anywhere near as fun as killer. I can agree that survivor does have its moments where you get to lead the killer on a really long chase but I just find killer to be more fun more often. I'm just saying that I'd like to enjoy survivor as much as I do killer, but maybe there's something I'm missing? Maybe some of you can explain to me what is it that makes you prefer survivor over killer? I'm genuinely curious.
I run two builds depending on solo or group play. By myself I run a support build that rewards me for hook saving and healing so I get bloodpoints no matter how poorly we do gens and make my own fun. With my usual group of friends I run a more objective orientated build and distract the killer more. Both are equally fun and rewarding.

There a lot of balance issues in this game, not just with pure power and strength, but with fun. I know a lot of people are sweaty tryhards who just want to get to rank 1, but there a lot of players, particularly survivor players, who just want to have fun. It is possible to make killers who are both fun to play, fun to play against, and capable of getting 4Ks if played correctly. However, there are too many killers that are either unfun to VS, unfun to play, too strong, or far too weak.
So I've decided to rank all the current killers based on how fun they are to play against. The higher ranked they are, the more fun they are to play against.
Keep in mind, this is my personal opinion. If you disagree for any reason, let me know, but be respectful. Also keep in mind that this is how fun they are to VS, not how good or bad they are as killers.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/W80SKJSXCMY7/my-image-281-29.png
Nurse: Probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually have a lot of fun going against nurses, both bad ones and good ones. The only time she's actually unfun to play against is if she has the 4.2 movement speed addon.
Deathslinger: He's pretty fun. Not only that, but IMO, he's not too strong or weak of a killer.
Huntress: I enjoy going against huntress, though it is fairly map dependent. Dodging her hatchets is extremely fun and makes me feel like I'm actually good at the game. The only time I absolutely hate the Huntress, is when she brings iri heads.
Clown: Clown is a fairly weak killer, but that's not the only reason he's fun to VS. Red Head's Pinky Finger is BS though.
GF, Shape, and Pig: What can I say, I like going against stealth killers. They keep you on your toes and make the game actually scary. None of them are too strong though, with the exception of Myers with certain addons.
Oni: Poor man's Billy with some tracking ability. Dodging his fury attacks is pretty rewarding and fun.
Demo: He's fun to play and fun to play against.
Trapper, Hag, and Billy: All kind of average. Not too fun but not terribly unfun either IMO. Hag is kind of scary though, which I like. They're also all fairly balanced.
Legion: I don't think that Legion is terribly good or anything, but he is both boring to play and boring to play against.
PH: I like the changes they made to his cages, but I'd rather things like DS and BT activate on a cage and he be able to see the auras, rather than the changes he got. Plus, he completely cancels out all good survivor gameplay and looping by being able to hit people through walls with barely any penalty.
Plague: There's no real counterplay to plague. Either you don't cleanse and stay injured the whole match, or you do cleanse and she gets corrupt. Or you don't cleanse and she gets corrupt anyways.
Wraith: No comment.
Leatherface: I know he's basically a poor man's billy, but I've never met a single cannibal who didn't facecamp and tunnel and be toxic in post-game chat. Nothing against the killer himself, but rather the people who play him.
Nightmare: Gross
Doctor: Also gross. The only real counter to doctor is Calm Spirit, but who's just gonna be out here running Calm Spirit on the off chance they VS a doctor.
Spirit: Disgusting angry sewage girl who sounds like a crunchy and upset minecraft villager.
I died at " crunchy upset minecraft villager." Thank you OP.

I'll keep this short and sweet (disclaimer - this will NOT BE short and sweet). I have NEVER, in the last ~10years been so tilted that I felt the need to make a forum account for a game, just to vent.
I realize there are many threads like this and I have read some earlier, yet I want to actually post and re-iterate the fact that the matchmaking in this game is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.
The games never seem fair and mostly, it's tilted towards the survivors since they play with friends and on voice chat.
I just got out of a game as killer where the 4 survivors were all from the same country, had each other added on Steam aka friends and were clearly on voicechat - 3 of them being red ranks (2 x rank3s and 1 rank4 with the last one being rank 12). I am a rank 15 killer with 45h of experience with the game (probably more than 10h of that was spent afking, looking up resources and youtube tutorials and from what's left you can safely subtract another 30-40% as time spent in queue - another amazing "feature" of the matchmaking system.
So anyway, I don't consider myself a moron and have been a gamer all my life (multiple rank1s in WoW, raided for a world top 50 guild, was SMFC in csgo, Divine 2 in dota, etc) so I picked up the game pretty fast and started working on finesse qol stuff like mindgaming the red stain, learning timings for when to break pallets and when to do loops, learning all the perks survivors use and identifying when they are on cooldown, etc. What I'm trying to say is that the games I've had so far weren't tremendously horrible - esp when the survivors weren't SWF parties. I've had rank 5s and rank7s in my games and I've won a few, lost others..BUT yesterday and today especially, I got a couple of games that absolutely tilted me the f out.
What am I supposed to do as a relatively new killer against a very well organized survivor team made up of sweaty rank3s and rank4s (red ranks) that have the best perks/ know the map and how to abuse it, know when to use their skills and talk to eachother on when to stall and when to push, how to move around the map, how to kite around and take hits for eachother, etc, etc, etc?
I got BULLIED, I feel dirty and USED - they tried blinding me nonstop (which I tried my best to counter), they played DS and baited me to down so they can DS, they bodyblocked me from hooking ppl, they pallet kited just outside range..once they figured out I was sort of new, they took even greter pleasure in doing all these things and got bolder and bolder. I downed a few and hooked them but I was never able to keep them hooked enough to kill.
Towards the end I had one on hook on his 2nd hook, 10% away from dying, one on the ground sort of next to him and the other two running for the gate which was opened - I thought they would gtfo so I went back to pick up the one on the floor and get at least 2 kills out of this ordeal when from OUT OF EFFING NOWHERE, I got blinded and at the very same time, another guy went and unhooked the one that was strung up.
I honestly think, given everything that's happened and the fact I played subpar perks (because I don't have the others unlocked), that I played relatively well for a new player but this is beyond atrocious matchmaking. I've spread my time played on billy because he is top tier and unlocked when you first start out, but I also played trapper to lvl15, leveled Bubba to 35 for his BBQ&Chili and played a few games with an underleveled clown (that I got absolutely destroyed in). Oh and one game as huntress with only 1 perk where I deleted a 2 man team of rank 8s by sniping them with hatchets.
Nothing I've seen thus far gives me any hope that things will improve and I am actually thinking of spending my time and money elsewhere. These matchmaking issues seem to have been around for years and no real effort was made into fixing them or even addressing them in a meaningful way.
Who thought putting new players against ppl with 2-3.000h is a good idea, regardless of if they are surv in SWF or killers? What is the new guy supposed to do? mind you, most newbies won't have my credentials and will be even less prepared and casuals won't make forums posts to complain, they will just quit because the game wants them to suffer and not have fun.
In closing, after they destroyed me and nearly lost 2 ppl in the end to a newbie - they also proceeded to mock me and call me a "NoED b***h" in the post-game. Classy guys!
Quick 2 cents on balancing - survivors are way too op when they unlock everything and learn how to play the game and the vchat element adds even more in their favor if they are SWF. Matchmaking time is horrible for killer and to wait to get into a game like this makes me not even want to play anymore. You will not be able to balance the game perfectly but things can be made to improve the gaming experience of the killer and since everyone keeps saying there aren't enough good killers left playing, I see this as a must and it should be the focus of the balancing team.
- Pallets are OP and their spawn should be diminished - balance this by better loops for the survivors or add an element of skill to looping (other than looking back) to even it out.
- Alternatively make killed lunges register better and/ or give more control to the killer when turning.
- Lessen the healing capabilities of survivors and make investing in it a decision in itself - generally, make the game more strategic and less "run around constantly cuz we can heal anything lul".
- add another layer to escaping, not just power the gens/ open the gate; maybe give an option to hurt the killer if he gets outplayed and even win the game by killing him or sending him back via a high risk/ high reward mechanics.
- DO NOT put new players in games with red ranks. EVER! That's just bad for everyone and if there are really good new players at ranks 10-20, let them rise through and get to red ranks, rather than putting them with red ranks to begin with. The backlash from the reverse is going to be WAY less than it is right now.
This is no longer an indie company and should look to invest some real money into fixing these issues and not just focus on cosmetics and monetizing each Tome/ each clothing piece/ maximizing the grind to keep ppl playing through the carrot on the stick psychology, instead of making the game fun and engaging to play and insuring retention of players through that instead.
I may not have structured my thoughts properly throughout writing this essay and at times, I might have been all over the place trying to cover different aspects but it had the unexpected effect of calming me down enough that I went from wanting to break my monitor to being able to articulate my thoughts and write this ending paragraph.
To be fair, no one who matters is judging your ability as a killer. If you picked up mechanics as fast as you claim, you should learn counters by trial and error. Playing survivor and seeing how other players handle strengths and weaknesses in certain areas help too.

Why do killers get Ebony Moris almost EVERY blood web but survivors struggle to get keys?
And please do not come in here talking about how ebony moris are rare to see. I've had times where I've gotten them 4 blood webs in a row. I currently have 7 of them, but average about 1 key every 5-10 blood webs.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9W53P6VXYOU8/678ed508edef1bc2a083e01e63c43fc3.jpg
You have to think that Moris actually yield less bloodpoints than sacrificing survivors normally. Where as the conditions required to use a key properly (usually finishing all but 1 gen) generally racks up more points.

Indeed. Every tactic has a use, you just can't lean on any one of them
Normally I never camp a hook. It's just not interesting, and it's usually not beneficial to me, either. But last night on an Oni match I fully admit that I camped SUPER hard. Full on pitched a tent, lit a campfire, and roasted some marshmallows. Why, you ask? Well, I was getting schooled. Was playing another perkless/no-addon game for practice and the survivors were honestly too good for me to get away with that.
But they made one big error: The last 3 gens were all packed together in a corner of the map.
So you're goddamned right that I set up a campsite worthy of legend over in that corner, and every time I downed a survivor I made damn sure that I gave them my full attention to make sure they enjoyed their stay in Casa Del Corner. Turned out to be a 4k when it probably should have been a 0k if they had just rushed a little less and paid attention to the gen layout.
Sometimes the necessary strategy is messy. That's just how it is sometimes.
That's fair. It sucks but I get it. I try to treat it as a learning experience and adapt. Another side to that is when a killer employs these tactics there are counters. But getting the other survivors, randoms or not to do anything but run straight into the problem and make it worse is irritating. It's not the killers fault if survivors won't leave their hooked teammate and try to cause pressure elsewhere. Its not the killers fault you survivors were clumped together for an easy slugging. And it's not the killers fault objectives don't get done.

I cant believe how many people complain about killer doing the killers job. The killer is meant to kill you. He's not meant to scare you off gens and then reward you for escaping. He's mean to kill you. You're not entitled to the hatch if you're last alive. The killer isnt meant to follow your rules. He's meant to follow behaviours rules but he's not meant to follow your rule set.

How can someone be this entitled. Dear killer mains. If you decide to get a 4k you're thirsty for bloodpoints. No debate. You're not supposed to kill last survivor apparently.
I mean I play survivor more than killer, and don't expect any of these "implied rules" to be followed. I love games that aren't one sided. Hell losing is great too if the killer is better than me. The thrill of being challenged and the adrenaline high from the chase is why I enjoy survivor. Granted tunneling and camping and other such tactics are viable, a good killer doesn't solely relay on them as their sole counter to everything.

It's hard enough being a new player, but explain to me the reasoning behind this kind of a matchmaking setup. I consider myself okay as a level 15 killer using a level 10 Freddy, but the game must think I'm a pro since it decided to pit me against survivors that weren't even double digits and had max perks with ultra-rare add-ons.
Almost every killer match is like this for me. No wonder a majority of players prefer to play as survivor.
Its bad on all sides tbh. Problem is folks will forever cheat the system to get easy games, either by losing on purpose to de-rank or start a new account and fly through ranks, ect ect. The constant flux feeds matchmaking bogus data and it can't figure out who's what anymore.

Yea of course not all plus its not even really avoiding a loss I'm the mind u still took thay L
Yeah plus you can't remotely find a counterplay if you don't try. Game's not supposed to be balanced, and the difficulty reflects where the lack of skill is.

Not all survivors think this. Just folks who quit early to avoid loss.

When this game works as intended, it can be a blast. But I just can't anymore with this matchmaking system. The B.S. that new players have to contend with is ridiculous. Here are two examples from tonight's games. It doesn't take much to realize why many new players like myself are writing this game off altogether.
First, cool your jets, cheeko. Second, the reason there's such a disparringly high amount of skill gap in match ups is due to exploiting things like smurfing and purposely de-pipping. So long as skilled players make new accounts to stay in low rank matches, as well as people purposely throwing games to achieve the same thing, game's gonna forever be in flux. No amount of game fixing can force people to not cheat the system.
-
DCing on purpose for any reason is absolutely unforgivable. You do not learn to counter and adapt by not doing anything. You shoot yourself in the foot everytime. Not to mention everyone else in the game.

Wait wait wait, hear me out for a second here.
Before you scream entitled Survivor main, or call me every word in the urban dictionary, please hear me out.
I have reason to believe playing Killer is easy for the time being, and yes I know how absurd that sounds. But please, like I said, hear me out. (If you don't want to read the text-wall, I added a tl;dr)
I've been gone for a couple week's hiatus from DBD and I finally came back to play with Deathslinger a while ago. A while back I thought that playing Killer would have me sweating every game, since that was my experience prior to today. Which is why I took that break because I couldn't take playing DBD anymore.
But when I came back, obviously I was lower ranked but the survivors I faced just felt... Easier. Playing Killer felt more like a breeze, even in Green and Purple ranks where I feel the survivors there are more brutal than the survivors in Red Ranks. I even got a chance to try out and succeeding with killers I don't normally play as including Legion and Oni.
That is not to say playing Killer itself is easier, it's just that I think the skill level of Survivors are getting worse overtime. I noticed this too whenever I play solo Survivor. My teammates tend to either leave me to die on a hook because they need to self-care, or they do risky saves without Borrowed Time. It's getting rather frustrating to see someone tap a gen knowing full well the killer has Pop Goes the Weasel and is about to hook another person. It's like my teammates cannot preserve pallets and make easy deadzones for killer to down you with.
These survivors are becoming more and more common, even people who use OoO in SWF teams feel like they're getting easier to deal with. And no I'm not talking out of my butt, I've faced multiple survivors with OoO who suspiciously look like they are in-comms (going for saves the moment I chase someone indoor, or working on generators far away from the obvious spots they would normally look out for, heck even coordinate on where my Hex totems are.)
There are times of course when I feel like my teammates are competent, last game I had as Survivor someone with Unbreakable helped turned a 4k NOED win for the killer to a NoK all escape win for the Survivor. That's brilliant. And that is the kind of plays I would expect in the rank I am usually in (Rank 6). But those times are very few and far between.
Take this game as me as Ghostface for example. I got looped for 4 minutes because the window and pallet spawns were not in my favour and the Feng Min who ran me around knew how to use it effectively. I had the sunk cost fallacy and just said "Screw it, if I am getting a kill it's from this Feng Min."
But this is the end result instead:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/431/CGAMYLKUCRBD.png
4k. I hardly believed it myself. And this wasn't because I was a godly Ghostface, I actually got looped for 4 minutes yet I still got a 4k. Because her teammates didn't do any generators. They followed her around trying to rescue her to get unhooked. They fought with each other in the endgame chat but I didn't censor their names and I'd rather not be banned on the Forums.
With that said, I can see why Killer is still stressful for a lot of people. It does demand you to split your attention between 4 Survivors and be able to keep track of all of them. Not to mention with the added pressure of generators popping left and right which doesn't help with your mentall psyche when playing as Killer.
But. Right now I think Killer is easy purely because the Survivors themselves, or at least Survivors in the Western Australia region are not as good as their rank should be. I mean I literally just got off a game as Legion where I double pipped against a 2-man SWF with OoO (I know it's 2-man because those two simultaneously gave up and let me down them.)
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/715/KJ9LSV6ZT7Z7.png
And I suck at Legion. I missed a lot of my Feral Frenzy swings that game.
TL;DR
I think Survivors are not able to keep up with Killers in rank. Both from my experiences as a Solo Survivor and a Killer. I know rank doesn't mean anything, but the fact this is becoming so common is making me concerned about the kind of players Survivors that are becoming common in high ranks. I'm not asking Survivors to git gud or get better immediately, that would be unreasonable. But I do hope this isn't becoming more common, because the challenge of playing Killer is to juggle 4 Survivors at once. It's a 4v1. Not a 1v1v1v1v1, which is what it feels like.
I'm not making this thread to incite hate or antagonize anyone. But I am mainly concerned the kind of survivors I play with and fight against are making the other side easier than it should be. The challenge is gone when the survivors do suicide hook dives and continually run into you.
I hope you'll understand where I am coming from, I don't think playing Killer itself is easy. As it is hard to pick up on the go, especially when you do meet up with survivors who know what they are doing. But right now, at least in the WA Region, I feel like Killer is not as hard as it should be.
I mean ut could be a multitude of reasons. New players are still coming in, a lot of players who took a break are coming back and their skills are rusty, and some folks are just geniunely bad at mechanics. There was a huge amount of discord with a lot of tweaks before Deathslinger came out that caused people to stop playing.
-
This is something I will never understand. If you are too lazy or afraid to lose to earn bloodpoints fairly, please find a new game. We as a community have the power to shape and define the state of the game, and frankly I fear at least 70 percent of its playerbase can't handle that.

So long as you had fun then who gives a hoot what others think, say, do, start entire soap box threads about, ect. Unpopular opinion, tunneling and camping is viable situationally. It can leave people in a weird place if relied on too heavily when it is countered but its encouraged to be adaptive. At least you were polite!

Since the Ruin change, NOED has become part of the killer meta now, whether people like it or not. I never used to use it but I have to now since there is no early game slowdown anymore.
Since it has become part of the meta, I think that survivors should not be allowed to harrass killers who use it. Saying "get good" is not a solution.
I JUST played against a streamer and watched their stream after the game and I of course was listening to what they were saying, and I don't think it should be allowed anymore.
They typed in the chat that I should not use NOED and that I camped. I didn't camp, they were just very cocky with saves and being altruistic. (I was Pig).
The streamer kept saying how toxic I was and how killers that use NOED have no skills. News flash to them: NOED didn't activate until the 2nd last person DC'D and I closed the nearby hatch. I wouldn't have needed it. NOED in this round was just a precaution that I didn't have to use because I had the skill to kill everyone else before the end game.
And to explain the alleged camping: like I said, I would stay nearby since the survivors were already near when I hooked someone and why would I walk to the other side of the map when I know someone is near? I wouldn't stand within view of the hooked person. I also had STBFL so getting the unhooker was easy.
What are your thoughts on this? I'm tired of people saying that I'm toxic for daring to equip NOED to make themselves feel better.
Who cares what the streamer says? You don't need his validation. You play killer to have fun and with the intent in winning. Do the right thing by not letting it get to you.

As a survivor main I can see times when camping, tunneling, slugging, what have you are viable. The degree killers depend on it show how skilled they are, but at the end of the day they're playing to win too, and their objective is to go where the survivors are. If they all cluster around a hook teammate, it makes no sense if the killer finds them to walk away. I heckle folks who camp soon as the game starts and does nothing else.

Not really. Blatant dependancy on it would be like refusing to hook survivors and letting everyone bleed out. You used it in a viable situation to adapt to someone having a key. Seems fair

This perk is completely fine and punishes survivors for ignoring totems. You failed to cleanse the totems, you pay the price.
This perk isn’t even good to begin with either, as it can be taken out before ever being put into use, while other perks in the hex category are far better and Devour Hope literally gives out a greater reward. So asking for this perk to nerfed is gonna be like Freddy 1.0 all over again to be nerfed, asking for someone who wasn’t even op to begin with to be nerfed because you want an easier game.
If you throw out the stupid “ThIs pErK iS oNlY cOuNtEReD eAsIlY bY sWf”, then use small game or detectives hunch, as those 2 perks, and even detectives, counters every hex perk in the game pretty much.
Yeah NoED doesn't need a nerf. Its easily countered and helps if you expect to be gen rushed. Not to mention if you get rid of all the dull totems it can't spawn. There's nothing else you could change that wouldn't kill the perk.
-
I mean I can see him starting with a larger amount of traps and less on the field. Most other killers start with a good amount of toolkit (Hag, Freddy, Huntress, ect.). It'd be a little less obvious for survivors to guess who it is and allow Trapper a bit more map control early game.

....Of course they do. That's the whole point of what they are doing. This isnt a hobby. As much as they may enjoy this game and working on it, at the end of the day the most important thing is the paycheck. Is that wrong? HELL NO. Anyone with any kind of job will attest, that the paycheck is most likely the number one motivator to work.
You can argue that the number of cosmetics is a money grab. You wouldn't be wrong. Its the point. Cosmetics are a source of income. And if they werent a good source of income, they wouldnt devote the resources to making them. Truth of the matter is, behavior is a business not a charity. Not a hobby. A business. Amd businesses need to make money or they close.
"Well they are just greedy and don't care about the player base!" I say you are full of manure. If they didn't care about the game. If they didn't care about the players, how often would you see any dev on these forums? Would they do the developer q&a streams, the update streams? Would they be spending time reworking 2-3 year old killers? Would they be trying to change unhealthy aspects of the game to make it better? If they didn't care would there even be a game at this point?
Changes are made for many reasons. And everytime half the community calls for torches and pikes. And the game still goes on.
But going back to money. Does anyone know how much it costs to run a small business like behavior? Last i heard about 50 employees? Ever think how much it costs a year to pay those 50 employees? I don't know how much they make a year but lets just say 50k a year is average pay for all behavior employees. That's 2.5 million dollars a year in payroll alone. And at 7.99 for every dlc that comes out, that's 312,891.1 copies that have to sell the cover payroll alone.....how many people play this game?
Further more, what about power? How much does it cost to run their equipment. How much does the equipment cost? What about rent? Or taxes on property they own? Servers in different countries. Licenses. Legal fees. Am i missing anything?
Point is, behavior needs to make money to stay in business. Thats a fact of the world we live in. That is what businesses do. And as far as how much money, show me any business that strives to just break even all the time, and you most likely won't see that business in 5 years.
As far as fair? A one time 10 dollar buy in allows you to purchase the rift every single time it opens. AND if you dont make it to the end you can save your cells.
Cosmetics are just that. They have zero effect on gameplay, save for a couple of them being easier or harder to hide in.
You don't need to buy the chapters to play against the killer or on the map. And all perks end up in shrine anyway. Not to mention you can buy the chapters just by playing the game. I used shards on oni chapter because i just didnt like oni. I can already buy the next chapter with shards if i wanted to. And i really dont play that much.
Moral of the story, try to understand the business model of things before you start complaining about greed. That or just tell your employer that you are going to work for free because that's what many people here want behavior to do.
Underrated post. There have numerous far worse business practices a la Fallout 76's Fallout First.

While players often talk about how killers aren't entitled to a 4k, should an individual survivor be able to escape this reliably?
There are several more examples... Is this intended to be this easy? Should a survivor be able to go into a match and expect to escape?
Just a thought.
The variables in all these escape streaks are aimed to favor the video creator. Can we also take into the fact that you can die as a survivor and still make decent points? Like We're Gonna Live Forever and Prove Thy Self can net large points for other objectives and you could die on hook and be ahead of the game.

someone once said to me larger maps do more gens, but the survivors said it will be unfun, well yeah i agree but i think these person did not play as clown trying to pressure gens in a big map like the nurse one
Its why reduced map size would be ideal. Slower killer's presence will be better felt, and high mobility killers like Billy can do well if they don't overcrowd the map with obstacles. Indoor maps should still put them at a disadvantage due to more walls and such.
-
@PatchNoir said:
okay thats personnal opinion but i think he is the most annoying killer to deal with, he camps with his ability but most of all you have a mechanic to avoid him that works when it wants.
example : once in a match i was downed and i had a small glimpse of view when he was going to leave me slugged to camp a rescue, he turned a corner and got revealed when i was not seeing him anymore
example 2 : i see a ghostface looking at me i drop a pallet stand in one side and him in another the time it takes to break his shroud gives him 70% a stalk or in most of the cases a full reveal after exposing me, and bro he is just RIGHT THERE A DROPPED PALLET AWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN.
example 3: im working on a gen in the gas station map and he is behind tires leaning and stalking i reveal him by accident when only his head was in my screen.
example 4: i see him at distance and stares at him but cant reveal him but he can stalk me. (?????)
when these things happen you will get downed with a feeling that the game stole your chase.
at least make my pointing action reveal him it will be faster than stare at him one meter away and being unable to break him faster, like the point of his abilliy is to get well hidden if he comes closer i should have the advantage and he should have a chase not a free down.
or when putting my characther looking at him instead of pointing idk just fix
ps: try to break him out stalking one pallet away with him crouching and leaning and standing up, it messes up a LOT your revealing just ridiculous.
If GF is camping they suck at GF. Running in straight lines, lack of situational awareness, and lone players reward his playstyle.

@PatchNoir said:
like APPLY PRESSURE they say, well i cant with a 110 speed killer, i know in short maps this could be game breaking but i dont see why not give a killer a speed bonus outside chases.
the speed must be accordingly the map size
the speed should be gradually removed as more gens gets done. ( to avoid low quantity of gens and super speed)
the speed gets removed in chase
the speed bonus changes from killer to killer
the speed bonus dont apply to killer power (like spirit phase, or wraith with speed addons)
"as the survivors enlighten their way out the killer menace restrains himself to the darkest part of the entity"
Or shorten some of the larger maps. Less ground to cover so you can find survivors easier with low mobility killers. I think its fair to be able to constantly to some extent feel killer presence on map instead of being on a gen a country mile away and not know who killer is all game. It'll definately make things much less monotonous survivor side.

What do you think of players exploiting bugs in the PTB? Would you report them? What if they were trying to spread awareness of such bugs? What if the "victim" agreed to have the exploit used on them for the sake of demonstration?
To me, I wouldn't report people during the PTB since I see it as a time to play casually and discover bugs.
I'd like to hear everyone else's thoughts on this.
Bugs can't be fixed unless reported. But if its minor, report and move on. Things to avoid is glitches that break the game, for example like when the basement hooks bugged out at initial Archives release. Caused survivors hooked in the basement to fall through the map on their screen and lose all visual. During times that those are a thing, avoid doing it to avoid being reported unjustly.

You know I would feel bad, but after that - I don't really mind that he was the first to die. In game he obviously didn't know any of the loops on Ironworks, and how much his friends ignored Generators to save him off hook / bodyblock for him. It was clear that they were SWF boosting their baby friend into red ranks for his "streaming career". It's good to see people helping, such a positive voice for DBD.
In other words entitled survivors attitudes is a problem, and this is how killer's are treated every match even when it was because of the other survivors they lost - not the Killer. What else was I gonna do? Go tap the wall on the other side of the map? I knew they weren't working on gens, they knew they weren't working on gens, but I get called a tunneler, and i'm bad because they decided to ignore their own objective.
If this is how the dude acts I can't imagine he's gonna get much traction with views. I wouldn't worry about them calling you a tunneler, cause honestly its part of the game. Shoulda ran DS and other anti-tunneling perks if they suck at looping.
