Playing a stealthy game is perfectly fine - it's a valid strategy. However, hiding and not doing anything to progress the game is taking the game hostage and should be reported.
I've played a lot of games where me and my team have done the objectives, but got caught towards the end and the one random, who we barely saw all game turned out to be hiding in a locked, made no attempt to help rescue anyone and made their escape.

i Have xplay on. I guess a lot more of us do as well.
I did have but after a run of cheating, hacking, exploits, laggy episodes and crappy behaviour from off-platform players (killers and survivors) we switched it off. Queue times are still pretty good and the matches have been much better. It's just been today that we kept seeing the same few people - on the plus side, the two in an SWF we matched with (now 4 times) were great players and we worked well together. I hope we see them again.

Most PS4 players don't play anymore.
Myself included, my guy, most of my friends aren't on DBD. I migrated to PC.
PS4 DBD is buggy, it's a mess, it's ignored. Console optimization is as much of a joke as the Promised Land, they completely threw away their "Road to 60 FPS" for console.
I have to say, a lot of our friends who we used to play with on a regular basis don't seem to play anymore and we've had a hard time trying to persuade new players to join in. Seeing the same people has happened on an odd occasion but today was quite unusual. Still, we had some great games today, so I can't complain. It is a shame that PS4 is losing players though; console does seem to get the thin edge of it compared to PC.

That isn't a punishment. honestly first dc should be 10 minutes, then 20 then an hour, then 4 hours then 8 hours i don't care what it should be account based with data on the servers that can not be manipulated. if you tell me well a reduction of blood points is a punishment, that's bull. people give up blood points to dc, why would they care they won't get many for x matches? and perkless? I've seen people doing blood webs with characters they are only trying to get teachables on and forget and go in with that character they say "welp! I forgot to switch off so looks like i'm playing perkless!" hell i've done this and well i did better because i wasn't thinking how to use my perks in the match i was just surviving and doing things. that isn't a penalty. IF you DC obviously you don't want to play so time outs are a perfect penalty, they can go do what ever for that time!
I longer time to start with might help but I honestly doubt e en 10 minutes for the first offense would help. DCing has been prevailent this afternoon, with both killer and survivors quitting because they weren't winning/downed early/just didn't like the killer/someone in there SWF quit.
I do believe making them play without perks and items is a punishment - no ability to self care, do DS, etc. No toolbox with a new part to speed things up. I agree that blood points aren't an incentive to stop DCing but I would still ban add ons as there are other things that can make their game easier. Yes, some people might relish the game without perks but there are plenty of people who rely on certain perks and with them taken away they will suffer.
I don't know the answer, only that there needs to be a real deterrant or DCing will continue. I hope they'll find a solution that works.
-
There's a survivor ritual requiring you to unhook people and unlike the rift challenges, they don't have to be safe unhooks, so they will take risks. Others I swear do it for the hell of it.
-
You might need a boosted router to give you a stronger connection - when I was upgrading my internet to superfast, I explained we spent a lot of time online, gaming and internet use. They gave us a stronger than standard route and it's been great.
If that's not an option, you might be better off looking at different service providers, to see if they can offer you something better.

The matchmaking system has been broken for a long time and is the source of many complaints. When we had the very brief match making where it went on skill level not rank number, it worked great but now they've turned it off, as a rank 17 killer, I almost always get much higher ranks - yesterday I got 2 rank 15s, with a rank 4 and rank 2 - I stood no chance. This was straight after a match against a rank 16, with a green and 2 purple ranks.
Sometimes it's SWF, who are playing with lower level friends to help them learn (this I can't really complain about as I did it when I was learning and I've done it for other players), but the first match, 2 may have been SWF but the rest were defintiely solo players.
I was told that the matchmaking tries to match the killer to survivors within 6 ranks either way of their own rank but if there is a long wait time, you may get higher ranks to fill the gaps - don't know how accurate this is but it would certainly match my experience.
-
The problem is the 3 minute ban doesn't discourage it - I would prefer to see a different punishment, such as making them play their next game with no perks, add ons and/or items, perhaps scaling this up for successive DCs. Until the punishment is a real deterrant, the DCing will continue.

Here you go. This one went much better xD Bunny ears aren't quite stealthy but it's a far cry from blush pink!
Well played! Loved the bunny ears too! Billy seemed a bit upset with you though, I wonder why....

Pay attention to where he is on the map - if he's chasing someone else, get on a gen. Spine chill helps too as as you've got time to get away if he's coming your way. Be sneaky, urban evade the hell out the of the place, don't make it easy for him.

A very fun build for an unfortunately very short game.
Aw, that's a shame. I just used it to run rings round an Oni. However, I also wear a darker costume and make use of the stealthy options, while you actually didn't make much use of the perks.
it is a fun build and quite useful, but you do have to be a lot more stealthy then you were. Sorry, should probably have told you I combine it with certain clothing and gameplay. I'm glad you had fun though and I enjoyed your video.
-
They can be well hidden on a few maps (such as in locker spaces, close in against trees/bushes and behind debris (crotus pen and yamaoka estate both have a regular spawn point like that).
Small game is good but you could also use detecive's hunch or a map to locate them; you get a visual marker this way so it's easier than using small game.
-
I usually run with Self-Care, Iron Will, Spine Chill and Urban Evasion - great for sneaking round camping killers and handy for losing killers in chases.
-
Yes if ranked with people at my skill level, no when I get matches like I just had - I'm rank 17, I got a 16, 12, 7 and 6 who knew they could bully me. I know they weren't all one SWF as people had been dropping in and out of the lobby. This happens most games as killer (I'm on PS4). Yes I could turn cross play back on but then that opens a whole other can of worms and I'm not willing to go back to that mess.
These days I don't feel like playing killer rounds any more and only do so for daily rituals. I just hope they fix the match making because when it was set to skill level, I got much better matches - not a walk over but not impossible either.
Edit - Just finished my second killer round - 2 rank 16, a 4 and a 2, yet again got bullied. Guess I'm done with killer rounds till they fix the matchmaking again. They just aren't any fun - I know I could start camping and tunnelling but frankly that's no fun either.

@Frontdoor6 said:
Like i said, i keep playing killer but its mostly ruined because of massive SWF groups, they treat me like a joke and gen-rush me, it makes playing killer unfun sometimes and i feel we should be given the choice to play with SWF groups or not.
I have Aspergers and losing so badly to SWFs groups makes me feel very victimized.
There are times when i win, i don't always lose, but SWFs groups making fun of me still gets to me a bit.
Please, give people the option to cancel out SWF groups or do something to identify who is SWFs in the lobby or not.
I doubt it will ever happen - killers aren't supposed to know if they have a team or not, the same as survivors don't get to know which killer they are up against - there has to be some surprises afterall.
I've had killer rounds where it's been a team out to be toxic or deliberately difficult - had one today actually. Just because they want to try and mess you around doesn't mean you have to play their way. I took a doctor with lightborn - lots of fun when the cheeky Laurie tried to blind me. This was after she tried to sell out her teamates repeatedly. There was a Claudette who was determined to pull me off the others/gens by continually vaulting or slamming lockers but she confined herself to one area and I went the first time and saw what she was up to, I walked off and patrolled the gens, hitting whoever I found and ignored the noise she made. I also took NOED just for fun and it was very satisfying to find they didn't bother to do bones and I downed two in end game - two that had been particularly annoying (one of them the Laurie). Today I went in prepared for trouble and dished out as much as I was given.
Sadly, it will happen but for all the crappy SWF out there, there are way more teams that play fair and go to have fun.
My advice would be to pick perks that prevent or lessen the effects of the behaviour's you experienced. If you have someone who is a particular pain, either take them down quick and camp them out of existance (one of the few times I would say camping was okay as I don't like the tactic when playing either side), or ignore them. If survivors run to a pallent and teabag, walk away and patrol gens. Deny them chases if they want to run you; learning when to break off is important - you can get locked in a chase and not realise several gens have been done while you focus on one survivor. If the match is that bad, get what points you can and open the door for them when they pop the last gen - just let them go and move on.
I hope things improve for you.
-
There are plenty of toxic players non both sides, but there are also plenty of players who come to have fun, play a great match and have fun. Get a few friends together and go in as a team, see how that changes things for you, or if you can get enough to make it worth playing a custom match, you can get in some practice or just have a lot of fun messing around with your friends.
-
Anyone with a chainsaw - hate the noise of the chainsaws.
Freddy - ridiculous hit range.
Demogorgan - The noise and speed.
-
Hard to pick as I run with them both on my Claudette. If I really had to just take one, I would take spine chill for the advanced warning and try not to get hit.
-
It's buggy but playable. If you play killer and get the 'can't hook', drop them on the floor then pick them up and try again, usually fixes it.
On survivor side, it's okay (I'm playing on PS4 with cross play turned off), I haven't experienced anything bad. Our SWF lobby disconnects now and then but it doesn't take long to fix that.
-
If the perk is available to use then it doesn't matter if you play survivor or killer, those perks are meant to be used and you are at liberty to use whichever you like. We don't all play the same way, some like stealth, some like to be loud, some like certain perks, others hate them.
The best thing to do is try to match them to your play style, or to whatever daily ritual or rift challenge you are doing. But ultimately, play your way and don't let others tell you that you shouldn't use a particular perk - it's your choice..
-
Not all Bloendettes hide and do nothing; I run Bkendette mainly as a good way to escape from chases and to sneak up when killers are camping hooks. It has it's uses.
For me, I avoid lobbies where you can see SWF all using the same survivor in the same outfit, anyone with 'toxic' in their name and anyone who I recognise from previous matches who proved to be unreliable, toxic or hides all match only to get the hatch after everyone else is dead.
-
I wish I had recorded it but I didn't think to do a retrospective capture at the end of the match. Maybe I should record all my games in future.
I'm well aware there are bugs and lag spikes, I'm well used to those having experienced them over the whole time I've been playing this game but this feels different and I have others in the team who experienced it and agreed with me that it felt that it was cheating or hacks; maybe it was some sort of exploit they had found, but that would still be cheating. Whatever was going on, it was the off-PS4 players that were causing the issue, so cross play sadly had to go.
I don't necessarily agree that it has to be lucrative to cheat/hack; I honestly think there are those who will find a way to cheat or hack, just for the fun of it, or for making other players suffer. They get off on it. Now I'm free of it.

Then it's an add on that was used to troll other players.

The one thing I wish Behaviour would do is implement a system where, if someone logs a complaint using the ingame tool, it automatically forwards customer service a full replay of the game from each player’s perspective and the corresponding game logs. That way players don’t have the onus of having to figure out how to record their own matches using third party software and know in advance that they should be recording literally all their own matches on the off-chance they happen to run into a hacker or harassment they want to report. It would be both extremely useful for the player making the complaint by saving them a ton of effort and also useful for customer service because they would know every ticket already has all the relevant evidence they need to review it.
That is the best suggestion I have seen on here in a long time; it would solve so many problems! I've had issues recently and wished I'd remembered to hit record or done a retrospective copy (PS4 lets me do that). A quick and easy solution which I hope comes to the attention of BHVR.

Man, I have 150 hours in this game on PC but didn't face a cheater even a single time
Sometimes you want to point at someone and scream "Cheater! Cheater!" but then you realize that its someone who's better in this game than you. Yesterday I chased a survivor for 5 minutes, I just couldn't catch him, it was horrible for me - it looked like he is just way faster than others. However, he wasn't really faster - just better at utilizing the environment than me. No chance you could see that many cheaters at the same game while I saw none for that long period of time.
I think we'll have to agree to disagree, especially with your last sentence.

Ah sorry didn't know. How do you sprint on console, L3 like most other games?
And this again proves my point that this forum needs some form of context of the members and what they play on and where they play from.
So many discussion leads to misunderstandings or point have no meaning depending on what and where on the globe you are playing.
That's a good point and easy to forget to include. One forum I used to use had a signature slot, we could include stuff like this which really helped when you were trying to offer advice to other players.

Judging by the fact that you don't know about map marker addons and Billy's mechanics I assume you're quite new to the game. None of the things you described sound like cheats - it's just things that new players don't understand and therefore assume the other player is cheating.
Also, PC players teaming up against console players is not a thing.. You've been reading too many conspiracy theories my friend..
I've been playing a while and why I don't play as Billy, my brother does and he looked at the perks and add ons with me - he wasn't running anything that would have allowed him to do what he was doing. I do check before I call cheat.
I call BS on your comment about PC players teaming up against console players - I've seen it frequently since cross play went live.

That is correct and I think even holding w is supposed to stop the heal.
Not on PS4 - we can only wiggle the control sticks and try to break free but the other player can just grab again unless you can force a bit of distance between you.
-
@burt0r said:
I remember reading a few days ago on this forum that when you hold shift or something that they can't force you into being healed? Someone would need to confirm this.
I'm on PS4 so that wouldn't work for me. All we can do is shake the control sticks to try and move off but it' not always very effective, but they can still keep grabbing and pin you back in place. It took me a few attempts to get some distance to prevent the grab long enough that I could get into cover.

I’ll happily game w only my PS4 fam, now
I don't blame you, we talked about it but decided to give cross play a go and initially it was great but has got increasingly worse over the last couple of weeks so we're back to PS4 only.

No, you're not a try hard - you just tried to complete the game.
When you have players DC like that, you have to make the choice to either finish the match quickly or farm with the remaining players. It's your choice, it's not your fault they Dc'd. When it happens to me, I usually go easy on them, even farm with them for a bit long as they haven't been toxic up till then - it's not their fault either.
But to message you and complain when they are so many levels ahead of you, that's just salt on their side - ignore them.
-
I just run Spine Chill, gives me time to decide whether I've time to finish the gen or need to sneak off and come back. Terror radius alone is no good, the killer might a lot further away then you think, especialler f they're running somethign that increases the terror radius, and before Spine Chill, I would leave gens thinking the killer was coming my way.

Congratulations, you're the exact reason everybody hates self care and solo in general.
I hate people who come into matches without healing perks or the means to heal themselves then coming running up to other players to demand healing, when the killer is hot on their heels. Those kinds of players get us all killed. Our SWF team has been screwed over by solo/random players so much these last few weeks we treat them all with a degree of suspicion.
Sorry to the good solo players who actually contribute - I know you guys are out there somewhere, I just wish you were getting into our matches.

@Mooks said:
Yeah there may be situations like yours where the unhooked shouldn’t heal..
but there are many many situations where it is obvious that the killer wouldn’t come back and someone uses sprint burst to get away from me to slowly self heal in the corner. I got We‘ll make it most of the times on me.
if you do that all the time, of course your teammates get less points and you get your self heal points. Points are not the only way to tell if someone was productive or not. There are games where i mostly waste time of the killer therefore getting not many points in altruism or lightbringer, doesn’t mean I was useless.
If I know the killer is not coming back - as in they're chasing/hooking someone at the other end of the map, I don't mind letting other's heal, or me healing them if the situation is reversed. In this particular instance, that wasn't the case. As I was playing in a 3 man SWF, we knew exactly what this David had been doing and it was very little. He certainly wasn't trying to run the killer, or complete gens. He did manage to draw the killer's attention to others in the team though.
As for points, if you're running the killer, you're getting chase and bold points and other players will know that's what you're doing - and of course, if you're skilled enough to run the killer while others pop gens then you're a great team player and definitely not useless. I wish there were more like you.

It's in the current Tome, where you have to ring the Wailing Bell within 5 meters (about 16 ft) of 4 different survivors during a single trial.
I've tried this challenge numerous times, well within what seems to me the correct distance. I've even tried with add-ons that decrease cloaking time. Just wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue with this challenge? I've gotten a couple 4ks, so it's not like I missed a survivor.
I managed that one easily - I used the clapper that stops survivors knowing the distance and direction of the noise, combined with an add on that witholds your red stain and terror radius for 6 seconds - just approach from an angle where their viewpoint is blocked (one of mine was hiding outside the killer shack where someone was working on a gen), decloak and rush in.

In the process of leveling a few characters, I seem to have dozens of these lying around on each.
But...I'm hesitant to use them. They just seem so powerful.
As a newer player - is there something I'm missing, or is this a 'I've had a bad day, now it's time to stomp some folks' button?
Tempted to just use them up, but I'm worried that I'll artificially inflate my rank and then hit a wall once I've used all of the bleeders.
If you don't want to use them in a general match, then hang on to them. You will get daily rituals to kill a survivor by your hand and they could be useful in some of the rift challenges.
Or just play one now and then if youre in the mood.

You have to be pretty trash or have pretty trash teammates to only last 3-4 minutes for 3 hooks.
You have to be farmed off all the time, no borrowed. Trash teammates then.
Been there so many times - trash random players just unhook in front of the killer and I get farmed and destroyed in minutes. Those matches are not fun.

This doesnt happen every game but once every 3-5 games ill have this happen for no reason. Does anyone else experiance this? Is this a known issue? Does anyone have a fix?
Thanks in advance for the input!
I've had something similar intermittantly - after unhook, I would run but it was like I was jumping all over the place, backwards, forwards, either side. I found once I'd healed it returned to normal. Seems to happen mostly (but not all of the time) when you get hooked and slide away from it, some sor tof graphical glitch. The last time it happened though, the hook was normal but the same method stopped the weird movement.

As killer, I have a bad habit of getting locked into chases and have to remind myself sometimes to stop and go back to pressuring gens.
As survivor, I have a bad habit of running into walls, trees and other obstacles when being chased - it got worse when the changed the FPS rate, but I'm slowing adapting to it.

I realize that sometimes the internet goes down or real life emergencies come up. That happens to everyone. However, there is a clear pattern of people who disconnect to avoid something they don't like, rage, quit and so on. These people are being selfish and showing an extreme lack of courtesy to their fellow players. The various penalties so far have proved problematic. I'm going to suggest a new solution. Give anyone who has disconnected the lowest possible priority for getting into a new match, i.e. last in line. If said person is part of group, the ENTIRE group goes to the back of the line. That will encourage them to correct the behavior of their friend. What this means is that disconnecting from a game means that said person(s) must wait until literally every single person waiting in Que before them is placed before they get consideration. And to be honest, I'd tack on five minutes on top of that. My view is simple, make disconnecting just inconvenient enough a wait in every game, that it discourages it for the future. Bans have been a problem. This is not a ban. This is a the longest line at Disneyland.
The long queue time would be a better deterrant than the current timer, though people could still ready up and just chill with the internet until they get a lobby, which runs the risk of players being AFK, which is just as useless to the other players.
My suggestion would be to force the DCing player to play the next round without any perks or items, perhaps hit them with a status effect too (blindness or exhaustion maybe). Until there is a meaningful penalty, the DCing will sadly continue. I hope a solution comes quickly.

My guess is that you are low rank. And yes, there is camping in low ranks. My suggestion is to join a group you can SWF with and keep playing, so you can climb out of camping ranks. I very rare to see purple and red rank killers camp. As for tunneling... Happens in all ranks, so your best bet is to play with SWF who know how to unhook safely and coordinate hook states, as well as equip anitunnel perks.
The camping is happening at EVERY level, in fact I messaged a rank 3 to ask why he camped at his level as he should be better than that - I got a BS answer, some lies which I called them out on before blocking them.
Camping (and often tunnelling too) is getting much worse; I'm in the UK and we used to find that if we played before 5 or 6pm, we could generally have really good matches, but the later into the evening it got, the more it happened.
Lately, we've played mid morning, mid afternoon, any time of day and I would say 8 out of 10 matches has seen the killer camp the hooks, most of which then tunnel the unhooked player.. Sometimes we know it was personal (such as my brother running a killer while several gens were completed - killer's fault for getting locked into a chase). Other times, I think its because they played party streamers or a gateaux slice and were thinking if they guarantee kills they get more points - they would have got even more if instead of camping, they'd pressured gens, got into chases and allowed saves so they can hook the survivors again.
I play with friends and we tell our team if we're being camped so they can go and do gens, cleanse totems (NOED), do a co-op save or if necessary, just leave rather than feed the killer an easy hook but when you're frequently first one hooked, then camped and tunnelled and out of the game in less time than it took to actually get the lobby, you wonder why you bother playing.

I don’t expect people to care as I haven’t been on this forum for a long time, but I’m still going to post my thoughts.
I’ve played this game for a long time, on both sides. I have bought every single DLC chapter and have spent way more money on cosmetics than I’d like to admit, but recently I just don’t have fun and it’s because of the people I’m forced to play with or against. I was so excited for Felix and the graphics update but 90% of the matches I’ve had since the update have been with killers that either face camp or tunnel. I expect to see this once in a while but not almost every single match. Maybe I’m being extremely unlucky with whatever server I’m being put on, but I’m having a terrible time and I’m finding myself getting annoyed which is something I don’t want any game to do to me. So it’s time to bow out.
It is sad as I truly do love this game and the hard work put into cosmetics etc but I just can’t cope with the absolute shitfest that is the player base. It’s not as bad for a killer, but I didn’t buy or invest in this game to only play one role.
Also, it’s not always me being face camped, in fact, it’s rarely me. But being in those matches still drags me down as it’s no fun having to just sit on generators whilst your team are camped at the hook. Where is the fun? This game is called Dead By Daylight, not generator simulator.
Hopefully the rest of you are having better matches and maybe I will return but I can’t see it being anytime soon. I’m completely drained by constantly going against people who’s sole goal is to make people have a terrible time.
Daisy,
👋🏻 💚
I took a really long break from this game after I got sick of the camping and tunnelling, the DCs and a load of other BS that was spoiling the game. I was eventually persuaded to return to it months down the line, but right now, I'm taking another break because of various bugs, glitches, and the BS from survivors and killers alike. I'm hoping that, with the next update, they fix these bugs (I did see a comment that there was supposed to be a patch next week which will address these issues but sadly it can't fix the camping and tunnelling - only the killer players can do that and they don't want to.

Do you camp?
Whether it be for strategy or just to facecamp for fun or anything of the sort. No judgment, I'm just curious how many killers do consciously camp.
No, i don't usually camp; it's a bad and boring strategy for both sides and I'd rather go back to putting pressure on the gens. There are a few exceptions.
1 If survivors insist on hanging around near the hook, or following me to the hook, I'll stay there too. Give me time to move out of the area and you get a safe unhook.
2 If the survivor has been particularly toxic to me or the other survivors, they get camped. Had this in one match where 2 survivors were doing everything they could to prevent me from patrolling gens or chasing anyone else; repeating clicking flashlights, blocking me/hooks, running round and round me. Basically they were everywhere I was - turned out to be high rank players against a low rank killer. I did manage to down the worst one and closed camped. Her partner in crime tried for a save and got a whollop (wasn't as good as the first troublemaker). Once the first died, the second soon followed and the last two 3 gen'd themselves. After about 30 minutes of them hiding for ages after I woul break their gens, I managed to catch one and took her to a gen, hit it and left the area. They got the message and finished off the gens so we could all leave the match.
3 If it's end game and I catch you, I might camp - for example, had a match the other day where the survivors could have left but decided to stay around and teabag me in the entrance. When I advanced, intending to chase them out (I'd already opened the door), one decided to run around me, despite being injured. Could have left, got flattened and hooked. There was only one survivor left and she ran off after I hit her when she went for the save - she left her team mate to die.
4 If I know I have an ultra-altruistic team who plan to hook dive or come en-mass without coordinating themselves, I will camp/roxy the area - come on guys, don't make it so easy for killers, or they'll take advantage of the situation. Wait out of sight for the killer to leave, or coordinate for someone to keep the killer busy. Rushing in gets you downed.

The timer was fine, but it still ruined the game they d/c'ed from for the other players.
3 minutes is nowhere near enough of a deterrant. I don't think making the disconnect timer bigger would fix it either as it doesn't stop people. There needs to be a much better method of punishing people who DC so they stay in the game rather than quit and screw over their team mates. Maybe make them play the next game without any perks or items, or apply some status effects.

Or put in a decent DC punishment to curb this behaviour.

Interesting ideas!
