If it's got a high pickrate, it is part of the meta. The meta isn't just the strongest stuff hypothetically, it's functionally the stuff that people use to be the most effective. That means it provides the value people want and it provides it more easily/consistently than other tools.

BBQ is meta. The value it provides is for bloodpoints farming.

Right but, does being a very balanced perk suddenly mean you HAVE to change it? are people that sick of BBQ that they want it to be changed entirely?

  • @jesterkind said:

If I were them, I'd absolutely make that part basekit. Hell, I don't think they'd even need to touch BBQ after that- it'd be a nice tool for mid-game tracking, but it definitely wouldn't be used as frequently as it is now.

Though, the reason it needs to be touched is because it's overrepresented and they want to shake up the meta. That means things get changed, even if they're okay in a vacuum.

I actually agree entirely with your first statement. If it were made basekit it would incentivise going after everyone, not just you know, camping one.

However, If BBQ isn't meta defining, just used for the BP wouldn't that make it fine? Like I understand its used a lot but maybe its because of the BP bonus, not simply the aura reading which, again, is still not overtuned. its not really fair imo

  • @Viskod said:

BP Bonus turned into an actual base mechanic, Perk turned into a Scourge Hook Perk that shows you everyone else's location no matter the distance.

Don't we already have that? its an onryo perk im pretty sure

  • @I_CAME said:

Or they could just make the bp gains from bbq and wglf basekit. It's kind of silly that we have to run a perk to get more bps.

Or this, that I agree with. I just don't see why BBQ is so problematic that it needs to be reworked entirely

I'm against a health chapter only because I don't have confidence in the devs ability to fix the games current code without breaking a bunch of crap. What they need to do is form a separate group of developers and rewrite new code from the ground up and make sure to include as many possible future game mechanics, perks and killer powers into it. Unfortunately, it seems like it's the bean counters that are calling the shots and that seems to be for them to milk this game for as much as they can before they run out of potential licensed killers.

reading this makes me sad. I feel it wasn't always about the money at one point.

  • Yeah but.. Im not asking them. Im asking us as the community. So that mayhaps BHVR see what everyone else wants.

  • @Mooks said:

Health updates should be a bigger part in every update and the last two or three midchapters were pretty solid in that regard. It’s just a fact there is a TON that needs improvement. And people would be very upset if there would be an actual health chapter without content, even those that cry for health chapters (because many of those just scream for it without actually knowing what it means; they just like to complain)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2838282#Comment_2838282

partly. The Nurse fixes were actually mostly rewriting her coding and server validation stuff is probably also new Code getting rid of the old clientsided stuff. Maybe all of realm beyond is even partly rewriting coding regarding the assets etc

but they did not rewrite the game from scratch (which would probably be best but it will also mean a LONG developement time…)

thank you for the clarification, I honestly just want the game to not be so damn buggy/unoptimized. everyones should at least be able to play the game without having problems all the time

  • @Phasmamain said:

To an extent. With how messy the code is at it core would it really help that much?

Haven't they been rewriting it? i swear i heard this in a dev stream

  • @KolbyKolbyKolby said:

Depends what you mean by a health patch.

If it was fixing bugs/cheats, that would be great but an entire chapter devoted to only that, would make it hard to keep playing without new content.

In terms of health like balance decisions and whatnot, I don't think a health patch could ever work because there is not anything close to unanimous agreement on what things need changing or fixed, you might have health update that makes 50% of players happy but 50% of players hate and if you do that **IN ADDITION** to no new content it would drive players away for sure.

Balance fixes is too much to ask for one chapter. I would say game performance and bugs. Maybe they could add a mini event? just to keep things somewhat entertaining.

Mainly agree with this. It looks fantastic - all Trickster outfits do - but his base outfit has him splattered in blood and his one outfit that didn't was super edgy and made him look like a flamboyant vampire with a spiked bat. Even his weapon isn't particularly cruel in this one - it's a glowing rainbow baton.

I love the Trickster and his design and disagree with the complaints that he doesn't fit DBD, but yeah, this is the most survivor-looking killer you could possibly have.

its literally a baseball bat with a blade and knuckle dusters for holding. I think that's a cool ass weapon design rather then your standard machete, hands/claws, cane, etc. its the one that looks legit creative.

You should look up what hate crimes actually are. It's not a hate crime to kill virtual characters in a video game. It might be harassment of the players playing as those characters, but it's certainly not a hate crime.

i know what a hate crime is, I was just trying to prove a point. bad example. but you understand what I mean.

  • isn't it weird that we have to kill the LGBT+ community in DBD? Like if your adding gay survivors, its essentially a hate crime in a game centered around survivors being punished by the entity. i dunno it seems off to me that you guys want your representatives to continuously die and be tormented.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If you're complaining about catching people at TL's then you're doing something wrong, sorry.

Don't act like your the god among us tricksters. go ahead, Show me all of your 4k's with survivors who aren't incompetent. i BEG you to.

Rarely. In the years I've played DBD on console I think I've gotten 2 messages? It's just not worth the effort for most people

i would assume you didn't get these messages because you probably aren't that "one bad teammate" or that "one ######### killer"

  • @Mister_xD said:

i dont think its people not wanting to admit defeat.

at least thats not the experience i got when playing Survivor.

its just that if you kill survivors, their game will be over sooner than yours. and unless they have friends still playing, there really isnt any reason for them to stay in your lobby and watch, so they'll have moved on most of the time.

so one of the main reasons why you rarely get a "gg" back is probaply because there just isnt anyone left to write it.

BHVR could address this by updating their chat feature ofc, so it displays messages written before you entered the chatroom.

but as long as thats not the case, you wont really get to talk to many survivors as killer. the only one still there when you 4ked is usually the last guy being sacrificed, so one "gg" is the most you can get most of the time.

therefore however the number of "gg"s increases the more you lost - because this means more people left the game at the same time.

but thats not always true. You make it sound like its not a toxicity issue and more of a "you weren't there" issue.

There have been plenty of times where people STAYED the entire length of the match just to say some nasty crap to me, or their fellow survivors.

  • @Yords said:

When you 4k they probably don't want to wait until you kill the rest of the survivors just to say gg.

Thats not quite always the case. But i get what your saying

  • @JinSime said:

That's why I love being a console main. Once the match is over, it's over. I'm not droping hate on anyone nor I have to deal with any of that.

When I play on pc, I usually just skip the chat, doesn't matter if the match was good or not, because it usually has no point (?) for me.

I may give props to another player, though, if I have the chance and they were just too awesome (sometimes I even feel undeserving of those teammates). If someone says gg before I leave, I may reply gg in chat just for being polite (since I know some people on pc care about it and why not be a good sport?), but I usually would rather just move on.

I've heard on console people actively message others just to say crap to them. Like they will go out of their way to message your account n stuff.

It's very true I just find it funny when people lose and complain about the other side teabagging, clicking etc, yet when they're winning suddenly their hitting everyone on the hook and shaking their head at everyone they down. And the same the other way around.

You have to keep in mind. The game actively pushes and "us vs them" mentality since its well. 4v1.

I honestly believe being killer is a lot harder then being a survivor. Killers have to worry about their totems getting got, gens going off too fast, people having DS, etc. Its a lot for the killer.

But then survivor.. Its a cespool if your playing Solo. Crappy teammates, people who don't know what they're doing. Gens not getting done. People getting downed in 3 seconds..

its a lot for us to have to.. Manage

  • @Kirkylad said:

Some players are just like that I went against a killer as solo, I just played normally but two other survivors were clicking and being toxic. He lost the match so after he complained how survivors were toxic etc.

Went against the same guy a few games later with a different team that were complete potatoes, he destroyed them and proceeded to hit them all on the hook and then got me last and stood above me and let me bleed out on the floor. Pretty ironic tbh.

People just have double standards when they are winning compared to when they lose.

This is the cycle we refer to.

The person was probably super mad at survivors and took it out on you and everyone else. Sometimes its even the game itself that causes people to get mad. whether it be from a lack of understanding or just being inexperienced.

as Otzdarva once said, Nothing can account for experience.

  • @KiwiCoattails said:

I don’t say GG to anybody. Whether I win or lose. But I have my messages turned off anyway as I don’t want to have conversations with the people I play with or against.

Any reason for that? im afraid if its the toxicity you hear about on the daily thats driving you away from talking to others in game.

Like don't get me wrong, this game is sometimes a pain in the ass, but i've met some genuine people from this game that im glad i call friends.

I don't know, I just like it. The screeches feel very heart pounding. I think it could use more bass for the actual chase, but besides that, it's one of the best they have done so far.

For me it just makes my ears bleed. Like i had to turn my game down. i don't usually listen very loud either. It doesn't fit like the rest of the newer killers do. (Blight is an amazing example. His menu theme and Chase theme are so connected its wonderful!)

im by no means a musical genius but the bass bit you were reffering to is great. I want more of that but something.. More on the side of the main menu theme. Like is that even possible? would that fit into DBD chase style music?

  • @Sluzzy said:

It doesn't take long to notice the elephant of all perks on either side: BBQ. A pay-to-win perk on a licensed DLC. Used on every killer for the tremendous advantage and value. This perk is literally spammed in every game. It should be a HEX perk or nerfed to lose the aura reading.

BBQ was released when survivors were much stronger along with maps. Maps were also easier to hide. Survivor perks are always nerfed only when considered being used on a good SWF. The same logic and fair balancing should apply to killers. To beat a good killer you must work on gens for every second possible. You cannot spend your entire match looking and hiding in lockers because the killer will have a huge upper hand as this is the only counterplay provided to stop the aura. He most likely has Ruin so the gen is losing progress when you leave it. Too much advantage for a perk.

There is another reason why being a HEX would be an excellent change to BBQ. A killer that camps can still be awarded BBQ stacks if he uses NOED or when saves occur. He is awarded for the thing the perk was originally designed to prevent in the first place! If the perk is a HEX perk the killer will be in a race to hook as many different survivors as possible before the totem is destroyed. This will create pressure on the killer to guard totems, gens, and hook survivors in the process instead of camping and being awarded for it with a perk.

If it is not a HEX perk it needs to lose the aura reading because it gives too much value for one perk alone. This perk has been overpowered and abused by high mobility killers way too long.

Your the literal reason survivors get a bad rap. Get off the forums with this junk man. come on

  • @Zaytex said:

    I love it personally.

But why? Can i have a reasoning? im very curious. i just wish it was a little closer to the main menu theme.. Not.. whatever we have as of right now

You get one retort to your inane ramblings and you lash out like a petulent child? Try to at least give me the courtesy to represent my arguments in an honest fashion. I never even mentioned the different teams that develop the game, in fact I specificaly mentioned that they should consider using the proceeds from the cosmetic sales to hire additional developers instead of letting the game stagnate in favor of a digital wardrobe.

In either case, all the teams that develop the art, game, website and handle social media hardly exist in a vacuum. They are one entity and are dependent on eachother. If you let the game go to ######### and spend all money hiring additional graphic designers in the end there won't be any market to push your ######### baubles to.

Maybe there could be some kind of moderation? No, of course not. My feeble, uneducated little mind cannot grasp the intricacies of game development. Please don't bother mentioning your diploma-mill degree in game development, I am already hospitalized due to the inferiority complex brought on by your earlier showing.

Don't missunderstand me, but I guess there's a saying that goes like that "bad if you do and bad if you don't do" so if you're going to be accused of anything at least you could pick the question you can actually provide an answer for. Politicians and every company do all the time. If I get most votes asking "What is your bank account?" Are you going to answer it? Sometimes a good question have not up votes because no one bothered in reading it or it's too long for some people to bother reading it and perhaps it's a question that you can give an answer for. As I said, I completely get it, but this is not a press report, you can choose whose questions to reply, and if 70% of the answers are going to be "We are working on it, we can't say anything" Why holding a Q&A in the first place? I get DbD community can be very toxic and a lot to handle, but there are times where I saw devs joining the "trolling" instead of giving a proper adult answer.

I am going to say it, the mods like you sometimes act better or more adultlike than some devs and as you did, you give a more proper answer and handle situations better. And thank you for your hard work

I don't have the proof here but when the DC ban first came out, many people complained that they get 30 mins bans or 1 hours bans even thought they just DC'ed one time at most, many users said "if you have a ban that long I am going to bet you ragequitted a lot, and you deserve the ban" and some devs, didn't change their reply. Yet I always see the mods saying "We are sorry that you're experiencing this issue and that's something the team is trying to fix" or giving answers like that.

When someone was having a problem, even a dev joined the trolling and I told him "post this in the bug reports", and another user said this "I can't believe only just one person gave a proper answer and it's not even a dev". I personally love DbD but thinking that buying something is buying from that kind of people, makes me not want to play the game anymore. Yes, many people think that "it's cool that they hang out with the community and troll" but they should be more serious since they are working, if there's a trolling post or a joke to the devs then that's ok, you can bluff all you want, but if someone needs help and instead of helping you're trolling him... It's like at elementary school when classmmates bully you and the teacher does nothing against it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but there was an entire reddit thread dedicated to unjust bans and proof of mods going a bit crazy. It's since been deleted but I won't delve into it

I mean they did say a lot. Perks they were working on. Killers they were looking at. Don't act like they didn't give us a decent amount of information

All the perks they mentioned No one cares about. The only thing I could find good about the QnA Is that clown is next for a rework/changes. Everything else didn't really matter. They aren't looking at what's an incredibly high topic Decisive Strike.

The information they give is information that very few people care about. They ignore the contraversial things when THATS THE MAJORITY OF THE ISSUE!

I know these guys can do better but COME ON. It's so irritating man. It's been this way for years.

  • They DO appreciate us!

But money on the other hand... Here's your paid skins :D

  • Ok so I'm mostly a killer main but I do play some survivor. I don't personally have a problem with it because as some people in here have said. Pop is a reward for hooking. Hooking can be hard and if you don't get your first hook before 2 gens pop you probably are going to lose unless you can snowball into massive pressure. I don't see why you think it's such a problem when on the survivor side. Good plays aren't measured by skill but by the amount of second chance perks. You can call it "whataboutism" all you want, but you know it to be true. Getting hit and then being able to dead hard takes no skill at all. Being able to 99% sprint burst isn't hard at all. It's the looping portion that is most important. If your a godlike looper then pop will never ever take effect on you. If all your friends have some sort of brain they will spread out and do gens separately to make pops significantly harder to decide on. All in all, I disagree with you and am perfectly open to having a discussion either on here, or on discord through voice chat. GokuBlack#2449.

This goes for anyone that wants to have some really good discussions about DBD in general.

  • @Blueberry said:

He's pretty awful. Freddy is everything Clown has and lots more. They kinda took his identity away as well with the Freddy rework.

Killers either need high map mobility/pressure or extremely strong in 1v1. One of these gets them just to around mid-upper mid tier depending on how good their other features are. All the high tier killers actually have both of these features.

Clown doesn't have map mobility or pressure and while his 1v1 is strong, it's not nearly as strong as it needs to be for it being his only one strength.

What if they gave him some sort of buff in his own gas? What if while in the gas he moves faster, or removes his red light for better movement mind games. There's so many things you can do to rework his entire ability and still keep his title as best anti looper. That's what I want clown to be. Sure he won't be able to traverse the map fast, sure he can't one shot down but he will not get looped to hell and back. That's what I want.

  • @dugman said:

Clown is in the same general bucket of most killers who can win if you outplay the survivors but don't have the extended map presence to make up for errors and respond quickly to situations that aren't near him. The top killers (Spirit, Nurse, Freddy, and to a lesser extent Hag and Billy) all have ways to respond to survivors across the map quickly and an ability that makes chases more time efficient. (Hag doesn't actually chase per se but she instead gets hits primarily by trap triggers which are time efficient once the survivors need to start going into her web of traps to do gens.)

In terms of chases, Clown is maybe the best chaser out of the 115% movement speed killers. The newly buffed Bubba is also extremely dangerous in a chase now. The killers who I would say are better than Clown in chases are not 115% movement speed (Spirit, Nurse and Huntress. Deathslinger is about on par with Clown, he's better than Clown in the open but Clown is stronger at loops.) Clown's issue is that being excellent at a chase is all he has. He's slightly better at the chase than, say, Doctor or Freddy but both of them have other abilities that more than make up the difference overall (Doctor's tracking is amazing while Freddy can teleport around the map).

P.S. And before someone replies that "Freddy is better in chases than Clown", he's not. Freddy and Clown slow survivors by the same amount and Clown can beat survivors using gas at virtually the exact same loops that Freddy can beat survivors using snares. And as of the Silent Hill patch Clown moves full speed while throwing bottles just like Freddy moves full speed while dropping snares. But Freddy's snares only work on sleeping survivors while Clown's gas works on everyone, and Clown can throw gas in front of survivors during a chase to cut them off from getting to loops in the first place while Freddy has to drop snares right next to himself. As I mentioned above, what makes Freddy better than Clown isn't chases, it's that Freddy can teleport across the map and also doesn't have to reload his snares between chases while Clown has to spend 5 seconds reloading after every chase or two.

I personally think Pre nerf Billy was better then Freddy. He has everything you'd ever want in a killer and then some. Even now I still think he's better. Freddy may have slowdowns but he doesn't have one shot downs. He still has to do what any other m1 killer does. In a perfect scenario the hillbilly will curve to perfection and consistently get one show downs and have enough info to traverse the map.

Of all the 115% killers I believe it goes to Billy because of his high skill gap and ability to shred through pallets like they're nothing.

  • @Primalux135 said:

Clown is underrated cuz of his power but definetely need some buff. I will explain...

Clown is part of the non mobility killers so his power should be lethal (I mean 1 hit down) or punishing in looping like do Freddy with snares.

    Clown doesnt have neither...

    Mobility: Normal.

    Lethality: None.

    Antilooping: a little.

Clown to be okay shpuld be...

    Mobility:Normal

    Lethality:None

    Looping: Antilooper.

For that bottles should have flask of bleach basekit.

So taking freddy as example of a A tier killer.

    Freddy

    Lethality : None.

    Mobility : Good.

    Antiloop: Good.

    Clown

    Lethality: None

    Mobility: Normal

    Antiloop:Good.

That would be a B possible A tier killer.

It would be like a doctor stats no lethality normal movement antilooping good.

Despite we can talk of other more deep details but just to summarize it short.

Like adding intoxication effect like doc applies madness

This is an incredible explanation. Thank you.

  • @OllieHellhunter said:

I mean he is underrated, that doesnt means that hes not in need of buffs though, cause he definitely is. He has decent chase but nothing else going for him.

That's exactly the issue, he's only good In chase and lacks in everything else. No map pressure, no mobility, no lethality. He's just an m1 killer with a slowdown that forces pallets down. I don't call that "underrated" I call that bad and weak.
