People are pissed about the event and this is the only response from a mod/dev 🫩

I agree people shouldn't insult each other but how can you say "Criticism is fine, its welcome" when you ignore said Criticism and play quiet. 95% of this forum are complains since the event started and that very well deserved.

People hate how one sided the event is. No response from the devs if they will change something before it ends or AT LEAST learn from it.

People hate how less anniversary offerings we get. No response except "that it was bugged and got fixed" (It's still worse then the last few years by a lot and since then they play again the quiet mouse)

  • What’s crazy is that entire thread seemed pretty tame all things considered.

Yeah it was tad heated but the things aren’t exactly peachy right now, so of course tensions are a little high. I didn’t even see anything to warrant it getting closed and some people actually got banned.

  • I’ve already said this multiple times, but nothing is going to change no matter how much community outcry there is. The player count is basically at an all-time high, so what incentive is there for BHVR to do anything differently?

  • @Your_Dad_Playing_DbD said:

yeah you’re right, by the time the actual outrage filters down to the casuals everyone will have already moved on and the event will likely be over.

These kinda things have to be maintained for a while to see any impact.

  • I mean they really messed this event up. I'm hoping someone is working on a guide to show killers how to do the minimum amount of work to get the stuff that matters so they can spend their time doing other things.

The game was already so easy for survivors. Now they can run through a portal, go invisible, block pallets for an hour lolol. Hopefully most killers are joining matches and just doing the quests they need to do. Glad to see even some survivors are saying "this is fun but yeah, it's pretty ridiculous for killers right now"

Absolutely horrible job here BHVR. Just awful. Again, if it's just about making money and retaining survivors who don't want to improve, please just say that. Please be honest. There's no way that some designer or dev thought this was a great idea without some kind of incentive for themselves to do so.

  • I know it’s REALLY early and there’s a good chance they could put a patch or a statement in next week, but the event stuff, combined with the release of Cross Examination, combined with the anniversary being primarily content announcements, makes it feel like they’ve maybe given up on taking feedback.

Stuff like this has been going on since the rough patch last year. And I get it, some of the communications and updates that were pushed last year in response to feedback only made things worse. But just completely shutting down and prioritizing whatever private playtest data they in addition to sales is only gonna make sure these issues keep occurring.

  • it reminds me of last year when they stressed that the T in PTB is for TESTING and can easily be changed, then that same update (The Walking Dead) after people were saying that the changes to the Clown just made him feel auto-pilot, they only slightly reduced the new numbers to a degree that made so little difference. I once highlighted this to a community manager on twitter and all they said was "we can assure you all feedback was and will be brought to the team"… an amazing answer for that specific example they were given

  • Mandy is right though, people, myself included have been riling each other up.

Like people are clearly enjoying the game, the numbers of players is still high lol, I just think people are more vocal of their issues coz there is more playing rn.

I get legit issues, but… patience for those who are coming at BHVR, they do listen but things take time to change believe it or not. We all love the game here/enjoy it, so just take a break or play normal queue while you wait or wait until next years iteration lol…

No reason to sit there kicking and screaming, I think the message has been seen at this point and they'll address it when they are ready lol

Better things to be stressing over and putting energy into lol

  • They generally don't listen. Or rather, they are hearing you, they just don't care. In their eyes player count has never been higher, and they are raking in IP cash right now. What is wanted for the health and balance of the game and community is not the same as what they want for profitability.

    - Jason's state of balance drives profitability.
    - Unbalanced perks on both sides drive profitability so long as those perks need cash to unlock.
    - Choking BP boost items drives higher grind and playtime, thus is good for profitability.
    - Offering the community lip service while pushing dollar signs drives profitability.

But they are not deaf nor blind. They see the complaints and are likely sick of seeing them. Some probably want to help, but cannot as it would damage profitability. Some just want you to give them your money and buy the lines they sell. But none of them are going to do anything to assist/please the community until the point comes that it becomes less profitable to ignore them.

This is, admittedly, incredibly short-sighted. The community response will be a general increase of toxic behavior in and out of game on the topic. We're already approaching the point where Surv's think they need to run SWF sweat squads to even play, and killers think they need to tunnel and slug. Regardless of what any of us think about either of those opinions, they are going to increase in severity.

If BHVR continues down this path, they are going to end up where they are headed.

  • I think its just that a lot of people have been looking forword to this event since last years ended. Several characters have released since then, and now they have a chance go build up cakes. Only this time they've intentionally nerfed the one thing everyone loves about the anniversary event., for the 2nd time in a row. And instead of just p100s getting their cake rates demolished, its everyone across the board. And the only feedback we got about any of that, was the same stuff they said last year "we've fixed the issue" without fixing the real problem.

Add that onto this event being talked about all year as "the biggest anniversary the've ever had" and then the gameplay ends up so lopsided (on either end for example people abusing legion and others with poison and people healing mid chase etc) that it is truly a miserable experience of an event.

And i dunno about everyone else but for the first time i have 0 incentive to get any anniversary outfits i can't seem to like a single one of them.

All this stuff has sent tensions through the roof as even veterans feel like they've been slapped hard enough to leave the game once and for all.

  • I mean are there anything they can do? All they can do is to just look at all those complaints silently and maybe send some compensation BP, but thats it really.

BHVR is known for really poor communication with community, they never listen, their community managers only answer to obvious questions or memes because idk they consider community inferior to them not even listening to people like otzdarva who 100% know this game better than any of the current devs. I got muted in their discord for pinging community manager and asking question about possible bug, because apparently it isn't ####ing community manager job to answer questions asked directly.

  • The player count is too high for them to act. If you want this to change then stop playing. I usually play everyday but between how much I hate playing against Jason, how long the killer queue times have been if I don't want to play against Jason, and how goofy the whole anniversary has been I'm just gonna play the games I got from the Steam summer sale. I logged into dbd today, saw even the event has multi-minute waits for killer and just logged right off. There's just zero incentive to play right now.

Same. All I could do is not contributing to the player count and leave my opinion in form of steam review. Not that it's probably going to be visible to anyone but it made me a feel a tad bit better to write paragraphs how I feel about this game in general and this event in particular too.

One minute of silence for the 10th anniversary plans of playing I had for this game and cakes to collect so I can use them with my beginner friend and get her into the game more.

Because there is no chance it will get better? Is there?

Not unless they do something about the unbalanced game mode and fixes the cakes to spawn as much as they did in previous events. Not some scripted BS, artificially limiting the supply

Edit: don't get me wrong, throwing insults around is not how you have a constructive discussion. It's fine to call this out. But if the forums became known for one thing over the last year, then it's that the team at bhvr cannot take critisism at all.

    Like "The Thread" incident?

  • Current player count is high, and honestly, people who think it's boring for killer are probably just jumping over to survivor. Less people than you think are probably outright angry about this event, despite how loud everyone is being here and on social media.

  • I played about 6-7 games on the Killer to complete the quests and a few more on the Survivors for the quests, and then went back to normal mode. The whole event is pretty crap, to be honest: one-sided, bad cosmetics that I wouldn't even want for free, and problems with the cakes. I regret that I only leveled one Killer to 100 for the last anniversary, and now that the time has come to level up my Survivor to 100, I get this…

I can barely play for 2-3 hours even on weekends, I have to force myself, the funniest thing is that I wanted to take a vacation from work to farm for the 10th anniversary, but it was not meant to be

    I agree!

I don’t get what people want from them. I’m sure they’re aware of the feedback. They don’t need to come out and say they’ve seen it-we know they have. I’m sure they’ll be working on making changes, but believe it or not, these things take time. It probably won’t happen until next year’s event, so some people just need to chill. PLAY the normal game if you hate the event so much.

They have the ability to make hotfix patches that addresses the most glaring issues.
If they could implement the correct rarity to cakes, and make the drop rates random again (instead of being scripted), I am sure that would be fixed.
Then we have one less thing to be angry about.

  • I'm definitely playing far less despite the 10 year anniversary because of everything.

Even when I play survivor, I've ran into other survivors throwing on purpose because something didn't work for them, standing under hook, and even caught a cheater after a killer had me watch them constantly fall into the floor. On this event. Despite all the boons and interactivity survivor has in this event.

The cakes are just the cherry on top.

I wouldn't touch it as a killer with a ten foot pole, and I'm already exhausted playing it as survivor.

  • I agree with her. Putting the unfairness of the event aside, I don't really get all the fuss. It's a limited time event that no one is forced to play. They just failed to deliver on the fun of the concept they had in mind, and I don't think the constant harsh criticism since the event dropped serves much purpose anymore. They'll take the feedback, hopefully learn from it and do better in the future. We can move on. It's all good.

That's fine and all but when they have limited cosmetics/banners/badges tied to it - you're missing out on the fun unless you main survivor. I was very excited about the 10 year event because it's this huge milestone. To see it extremely one-sided is very disappointing.

Exactly, I’m sure they’ve heard the feedback and will hopefully make improvements for next year’s event. Just play enough to grab the rewards and stick to the normal mode. Personally, I don’t enjoy it on either side because when I’m playing survivor, my teammates waste too much time, and it’s pretty obvious why it’s not all that fun on the killer side either. Still, I’m not going to call the devs names or hate on them… I’m sure they had good intentions, but it just didn’t work that well in the gameplay.

It’s a pretty limited game event, and the game is doing extremely well. The forums, Reddit, and other places make up only a small portion of the player base, and most people are probably enjoying it, to be honest. I don’t really see them putting much effort into it right now. Nothing will likely change until next year, but at least the normal mode is still available to play.

Love your mindset, and I'm glad you agree. The feedback was enough for me to realize it's not a good time to play right now. I hope the new content from the roadmap will make up for it.

  • 95% of the time this forum is just complaining about something, so it doesn't surprise me they are ignoring it. Cakes are just the flavor dujour.

Survivors can earn 18+ cakes per prestige (perhaps that's increased since I last tested it) and killers make 26+ per prestige, tested yesterday. That is still a lot of cakes. That means for a match that earns a player 200k bloodpoints, a common occurrence during the anniversary event, a survivor earns about 3-4 cakes per match played and killers earn about 5 cakes per match. Yes, in previous iterations we could earn 10 cakes per match and judging from my own cake arsenal that I will never get through I can see why BHVR might have wanted to pare that back a bit.

There are still at least 18 days left in the event so you can still stack hundreds of cakes on your favorite characters.

You can't say it's doing well only because there is a small wait for killer games. It's about a minute or two wait. That's a small wait. Non-event it's about 8 minutes to get into a game as killer. I assume killers are doing their events and when they are done with them, will stop playing the event. That's what I did. So will be interesting to see what killer wait times will be middle of the week before the next challenges drop. Plus it's the weekend.

Once again people don't get what wait times really mean. Killers waiting means there is not enough survivor players. I would not mind insta matches as killer later but don't think that will happen.

I know what it means. I'm saying it only takes a minute or two to get into killer in event mode. It takes 8 minutes to get into non-event game as killer. Which means more killers are trying to play the non-event version. Right now survivors don't understand how this event works but once they do (and I'm getting into more games like that as survivor) killers are DCing because of how unbalanced it is. Just had it happen twice in a row with my friend.

Or not as can also mean there is more survivors in the event mode than in the normal. We don't know how many killer players are playing either mode or how many survivors. It could literally be even on killers but its faster on event because there is more survivor players.

Funny thing I just played two matches in both I ran over the survivor team in the start felt so bad I let them fix the gens and farm because its an event I don't see point to play a round where I end it from the start. I have had no reason to DC in this event don't really ever do it anyway as I play this game for fun and would not play the event mode if I would not enjoy it. It's even worse when there's no competition for DBD. Without any there's even less incentive for the DBD devs to do better so they stay lazy and won't improve. Even though there's been several other asymmetrical games none of them found any success.

  • Devs know there's an overabundance of Killer players and made the most sided event to cull people wanting to play killer and move to survivor to fix queue times.

Its a mixture of both imo, survivors are trying out the new mode because its fun and has some cool (but broken) mechanics, killers are avoiding it because they get a worse clown bottle as a secondary power.

For reference, my queue times are:

Event: Survivor (3 mins) Killer (instant/20s)

Not event: Survivor (40s), killer (7-10 mins).

And yeah I've had both sides of the coin and it hinges on one thing ususally. Whether or not they know how to abuse the banquet. If they have someone filling the banquet constantly, and allowing your team to heal at the best moment, have permanent boosts ect, its gonna be a rough game. If not, it can be pretty easy, so i can chill a bit more. I also don't DC, but id understand why as I've had multiple 20 minute games where the gens dont get completed but theyre constantly healing teamwide and maxing tables.

And yes it is definitely different from the normal mode, but its very much unfun for killers, as their fun hinges entirely on whether survivors know how to use the event efficiently or not. Now, again, thats happened a handful of games, and if i notice it i try and tunnel out the one focusing banquets (only been in a couple of games with swf where theyve been able to swap roles fluidly) to give me some room to breathe, every other time I don't mind the cake effects ect, or if they do the tables once, Its the repeated heals that get me on top of a free extra effect.

maybe there will be some in bugfix 2 this tuesday, if it is this tuesday

They are not going to. I think they should. But they won't. It's also crazy that the carts of food do not go away and respond somewhere else. I was playing survivor and a cart was between to dining tables. Someone spent the whole game going back and forth making sure the table was full. Survivors would be fully healed and whatever crazy OP effect would happen. The three of us were doing gens or running from killer getting instant heals until the killer DC

Mandy is right though, people, myself included have been riling each other up.

Tbh I bet more are playing for the oportunity of getting more bp to level up their characters then enjoy it like many other events its nothing crazy to think about.

Well this event can be decribed in one sentence "more pain, more gain" the more you play the more bp you get but the bigger torture it is.

Spawns were really bad for the Blood Moon, they probably tried to prevent that happening again and got the opposite problem instead

Yeah, they really need to go into the maps and force the spawns for event items in set locations to ensure a balanced experience.

Random just doesnt work for it.

  • The blood moon is another elephant in the room that year after year people has been asking for the offering to NOT BE PERSONAL. And they still dont change it. It's already shown that players are indeed getting so many less cakes compared to other years as well on top that they also removed the hook or gen BP event bonus only to put them on the table for morses or the clown temu bottle..
People wait and play around the "bp events and cakes" because of it. Ask anyone "when is the best time to get BP?" it will be "blood moon and the anniversary" this year they actually nerfed it so badly that people realized it that they were nerfing it year after year and without any good reason.. it's thanks to the players that they can celebrate an anniversary. This is NOT the way to thank your players if you actually are celebrating and thanking your players

And last but not less important…

If they were actually listening they would understand that nerfing things like this because they like to pretend that there's some sort of economy is not going to make players play their game more or spend more money.. it will do the exact opposite.

  • I no longer expect anything from BHVR, and recently I have not been playing DBD at all, not just the event.

I was originally planning to collect cakes during the event, but with the terrible drop rate and how awful the event mode is, I have completely lost the motivation to do even that.

Some people are saying that BHVR is currently collecting feedback and will reflect it in future updates, but personally, I do not think that will happen. This is not limited to the 10th anniversary event. There have been many issues and criticisms regarding various events in the past, but they were never properly improved. In some cases, things have even become worse than in previous events.

Right now, Jason has just been released, so I do think the player count has increased. However, judging from the attached chart, it is clear that many players are leaving soon after, likely due to the poor game balance and other issues.

The number of players does increase during peak hours, but the overall player count is declining, and it is currently recording the lowest number of players within the past week.

Some people claim that comments on the forums, X, and Reddit only represent a small portion of the community. However, as you can see, the numbers that BHVR loves so much clearly show that players are leaving because of the terrible game balance and event content.
