I didn’t ask for stbfl to get nerfed. I generally don’t dabble into killer affairs unless you’re coming in my yard. Ask the devs for whatever you want, I personally am not going to stand in your way or object you. I’m not a dev though and can’t snap my fingers and make that happen for you. You start talking about survivor perks though, I’m present yes and have things to say especially when the word nerf is going around, in this survivor economy I can’t afford to not speak up.

Im not saying you asked for it to get nerfed Im making a comparrison on how perks that have infinite stacks are op asf. distortion even when you have a full aura build hides your aura all game, it would be like going against a killer with STBFL who never loses stacks its just borderline unfair.

and people in this forum keep saying its not op, I list exactly why its op and they just npc respond to me without trying to explain why its not op.

there is NO reliable counter to distortion. you run a full aura build and by the time you burn all there stacks they regen 2 more bc of how its regen mechanic works. and start with 4 stacks....

it dosent negate 1 aura read it negates it and gives you 10 seconds of aura immunity, it would be one thing if it negates a aura read but the fact it negates it and the next aura reads for the next 10 seconds is borderline not ok

I could get a hook to activate bbq. and while bbq is active kick a gen for nowhere to hide value and that would only burn 1 stack of distortion bc of how it works.... it would negate bbq then give 10 seconds of aura immunity thus negating 2 aura perks for 1 stack. how is that NOT op? like actually genuenly asking how is any world would that be fair? and you get 4 stacks of that and you can regen it like wth?

That's a HUGE very reliable counter, lol. Gearhead has no cooldown. The idea of just being totally unproductive for 30 seconds every time someone gets injured is insane. Typically if your halfway decent, you can keep gearhead constantly active by scoring another hit before the 30 seconds even wears off. By staying off gens anytime anyone gets injured, you're effectively throwing the game.

You're FORCED to do the 2nd option, which is stay on the gen and run out of stacks alarmingly quickly. By the time The first chase is over, no one that was being productive at all has any tokens left. Gearhead ALONE will strip them off in record time. The only counter is to hit ALL great skillchecks... which isn't very reasonable.

it does have a cooldown its called needing to injure in order to proc it, which means needing to find someone first.... and since you dont see aura and distortion also hides scratch marks your left with hearing footsteps... gearhead would work but considering you need to find them first dosent really do much on most killers.

and gear head is active for 30 seconds and shows there aura for 8 a proc, distortion hides your aura for 10 seconds PER token so you would need to get them to hit 3 good skill checks within 30 seconds to melt 1 token... most will hit 2 good and maybe 1 great within that time frame, thus losing maybe 1 stack. per activation of gear head.

lol! All these sillies. I hope distortion keeps getting harped on, because I know BHVR is just smiling. It's not OP, it counters an entire playstyle, just like lightborn. You guys just want anyone but yourselves running NO perks. Until that happens, you'll complain about survivors not throwing themselves on the hook for you. I mean, why should YOU have to hook them once they're down. Should just be automatic, right?

yes wanting a perk to be fair is silly.... your comparing blinds to information thats not even a fair comparison to begin with dude. feels like your just being petty for the sake of being petty.

    not "op"

unless a killer has a full aura build distortion gives you pretty much perma aura immunity for the match "nOt oP" yeah sure pal whatever you wanna go with, you dont need blinds but killers 100% need information. its a 1 v 4 im sure you can survive without your blinds that already do pretty much nothing to smart players, look at the pickrates. lightborn has like what a 3-4% pickrate while distortion has a 9%, lightborn loses its value when your good at the game and know how to avoid blinds without it, distortion has value no matter the skill level....this is a wild comparison and just feels petty.

Okay I’m fine with the condition being

TR, or it can be in chases, or I can get them actions of progressing emblems, ie healing actions, gen time, saves. I’m not picky how it regenerates tokens. I’m doing things.

I even said take the scratch marks condition out, they’re nice but not necessary to have covered.

Take your pick im getting my stacks regardless which are very much well deserved, considering if you want to use this perk and benefit your team you have to engage by doing survivor objectives, and risking three heads for your one to do so, so any real value from it on a team level at no time can you really just be “chillin”. I stated multiple times I’m not hiding that includes in a locker to get stacks. It’s wasteful to do so with this perk. It has a down sides by design, so like do me a favor I guess? A condition other than terror radius will probably be more beneficial if I’m being honest, create a healthier gameplay play of using this perk as survivor, they’ll try a little harder to engage. I won’t turn down a survivor buff.

ok then make STBFL not lose stacks on hitting survivors, thats basically the same thing dude, your letting a perk not really lose stacks and pretty much constantly gain value from, bc you almost never are out of stacks which is op asf considering how many perks it negates, its one thing when a killer negates something a survivor uses as there are 4 survivors but its another thing when 4 survivors negate one thing from killer, its completely different .

  • @Blueberry said:

Idk if I’d go as far as calling it OP, I don’t really mind it that much. It might be a little over tuned though, maybe just slow down the rate of tokens a bit. Rather than lessening aura reads you get tokens so fast that it’s basically permanent aura read immunity. Just give it a slight tweak.

against a killer with 1-3 aura perks its pretty much a perma immunity to auras..... even if you go a full aura build you dont always get rid of there tokens. the biggest issues that do make it op are

    starts with full tokens

    tokens are technically inifinte

its not just negating a instance of aura it negates aura reads for 2 seconds so you could pop 2 aura reads and it gets negated if its in that 10 second mark.

tokens regen in TR when they should just regen in chase.

When playing without headphones, I have to keep the volume way down to not freak out neighbours, and then I can't hear other important sound cues properly.

When playing with headphones as killer to get good info the screams are actually painful. When playing with a survivor with calm spirit, I notice myself tensing up before the scream, then relaxing with relief when the scream doesn't come.

The hook can still echo around the map without being ear bursting for the hooker/hooked. This is a game, it doesn't need to be realistic. Fix this.

just hit them, its what I do, alot think im salty but I do it bc it cancels the scream early

  • I mean I slug everyone once per game, to burn / check for unbreakables.

and sometimes slugging is the best play, I mean why do you think

    legion

    oni

    and bubba exist?

if slugging is as big as a problem as survivors try to make it out to be then run perks like unbreakable more?

what is wrong with survivors, your only allowed to counter play if your a survivor but killers have to play in your cookie cutter ways. maybe instead of trying to change everyone else and how they play maybe take a look in the mirror and how you play thats getting you down so fast in the first place

  • @HeroLives said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3663204#Comment_3663204

I mean if you’re not using it right you’ve basically sentenced your team, I’d say that’s pretty high risk, but what do I know. If you’re in a locker while having distortion you’re using it wrong.

If there’s a survivor reading this you should know that:

Do not hide with this perk, you’re costing your entire team, make progress on gens, get safe saves, and if their lives start talling up take some chases, if you haven’t been in one. If you don’t you’re not helping, you’re hurting your team MASSIVELY.

I was referncing how you can sit in a locker while in the killers TR and you gain stacks, for literally doing nothing, being in the TR to build stacks is totally unfair bc there is low risk high reward in terms of regening stacks.

  • I mean with gear head it works off injures, its active for 30 seconds, so basically you would need the person with distortion ON a gen hitting great skill checks, and after losing the first stack they would realize you have gearhead then counter play it by staying off a gen during the duration or just sitting on it not caring anyways. gearhead is great sure but it requires them to be on a gen hitting a good skill check just to get 1 stack gone, aint really a reliable counter if im being honest.

Gearhead actually works pretty well at getting rid of stacks. You don't need an entire loadout to do that. As for exhaustion, there are both addons AND perks that apply that.

    Your bias is showing.

You should know that items are quintessential to survivor gameplay. A survivor without an item is a lot weaker than one with an item.

Survivors have no way of knowing the killer will equip Lightborn and it makes their entire item useless for the entire game.

Not saying Lightborn should be nerfed, but to pretend like the hate it gets isn't justified is odd.

items are not required to win the game dude, if you seriously think you need items to do good you arent playing with good survivors, theres a reason swfs do so well and its not because of items its because of teamwork

theres no bias in stating facts my guy, I play both roles equally, perks are must haves for both sides to do well but items are just a extra bonus to have.

Survivors have no way of knowing the killer will equip Lightborn and it makes their entire item useless for the entire game.

uh ok? and killers cant tell if survivors are going a full gen build till 3 gens pop within the first minute, whats your point?

Not saying Lightborn should be nerfed, but to pretend like the hate it gets isn't justified is odd.

The hate isnt justified dude, you dont need blinds to do good as survivor, you still have loops, pallet stuns, perks etc. if your relying on blinds to carry you then Idk what to say. and in retrospect blinds hardly do anything outside of save.

if my bias is seeing how comparing survivor stuff to killer stuff isnt fair then sure im biased... your comparing 1 strong thing on one person to one strong thing on 4 people, not really a fair comparison

  • @BritneyMitch said:

I think a solution to this that both sides wouldnt mind is perhaps a reduce in the rate tokens are received. Could possibly offset it by telling you when you are out of tokens that your aura was read or something as to not weaken the perk, giving both sides some interesting counter play. I will say though, there are absolutely killer perks that do this. I dont think they are particularly strong, but franklins and light born counter entire perks and items of survivors. Someone could come into a game running 4 perks related to flashbang saves and get it countered by one perk. Franklins pretty much makes med kits completely useless unless you use them to heal other people which defeats the point of having them at all anyway. Theres other examples as well that I am sure you can think of if you spend more time on it.

Make tokens only regen while in chase and we are golden, and only start with 1 stack, you still get your inital value but you dont get a free aura immunity for the entire game either.

I honestly dont understand why people are always talking about lightborn and franklins when they are barely even ran in games

    lightborn has a 5% pickrate....

    franklins has a 2% pickrate

    meanwhile distortion has

9% pickrate....totally diffrent. lightborn and franklins are barely used, but you will almost always see a distortion ran at least once during your daily matches.

Distortion: Is good, has a lot of reasons all those tokens getting burned that give no value though needs regen, scratch marks show them idc, you have to play with this perk in a very specific way so you don't shoot your team in the foot, this is a high risk, high reward perk. This perk basically nerfs itself most the time. When it works though, it works really well though, as it should.

DS: This is one of the biggest wastes of a perk slot, since it was nerfed this perk is basically WASTING A SLOT AN ENORMOUSLY LARGE AMOUNT OF THE TIME AND FROM WHAT IVE NOTICED A VERY LITTLE PAY OFF. THIS IS NOT A GO BIG PERK.

OTR: I think this perk sucks.I personally wouldn't run it. I'll just take my tunnel for a better perk slot. My friend says it doesn't work half the time. Must be doing something for him though bc he runs it with DS.

Sprint Burst: This is one of the worst exhaustion perks in the game. This one has one of the biggest drawbacks if you're trying to be smart as far as exhaustion goes.

Idk what to tell if you think these guys right here are your biggest enemies. You should be kind of grateful ppl pick these little gimmick perks in mass bc there's much stronger stuff that if they used in mass would be such a huge issue, and every time you nerf one of those you're risking that, idk though you could probably nerf each of these to the ground(they aren't far from it) and there would still be ppl that use them out of whatever reason.

theres nothing high risk about distortion dude.... you can be in a killers TR while in a locker and still be getting stacks regened...theres no risk when using this perk. that has to be the most wild take I think ive seen on this forum in a long time....distortion is high risk high reward.....

  • for the most part still to survivor sided,

when your chase one hiccup and survivor gets to a pallet window etc, but even when you hit them they get a mini sprint burst, which in itself is fine, whats not fine is when you break the pallet they just dropped and by the time you catch up again your already at another loop/pallet. pallet spawns are horrible and need to be balanced more, you shouldnt have a clump of 3 pallets all next to a god pallet thus creating a psuedo infinite loop until you drop said pallets. this is whats really killing the game for me is that its not fun its just a time waster and feels really boring.

that and some structures having 0 mindgaems on them, like the big machine vehicle on ormond, survivors see you threw the pallets so you cant mind game it and are forced to just W key that loop which almost always ends in you getting pallet stunned, I think im just tired of it and its making games stressful bc I almost have 0 counter play in chase. bc most loops you cant mind game, and pallets spawn so close together that even when they mess up they are already at another loop and safe again, and since 4 people can do that it makes god loopers hell to counter. and alot of it isnt them being skillful at the game its the map holding there hand and saying dont worry if you mess up we will make it to where you still dont get injured and we will give you 3 pallets all next to each other to waste the killers time and 2 gens pop, but dont worry if killer leaves to go to those gens these loops will still be here so you will instantly run to said loops all game bc you know you can abuse them.

It would be unbalanced if it prevented killers from tracking survivors at all. It doesn’t hide scratch marks, blood pools, or grunts of pain. And it doesn’t block killer instinct either.

    • Blocks your Aura from being read for the next 6/8/10 seconds.
    • Suppresses the creation of Scratch Marks
    •  for the next 6/8/10 seconds. Yeah sure looks like it dosent hide scratch marks....

    @Khastrx said:

Eitherway we look at it's just mostly killer entitlement rather than X or Y survivor is screwing over everyone else. Auras are generally boring, expecting constant wall hacks is boring, is it any wonder players don't find the game as fun anymore when it's the same boring ass killer builds almost every match. Literally dozens of perks that can get value, think outside the box.

    1. I dont expect constant wall hacks, thats not how aura perks work dear, they need to be activated and you need to be in range to use most of them
    2. theres nothing enitled about wanting a perk to actually have counter play and be fair, the only REAL counter play distorrtion has is running full aura perks, but even then you need to proc 4 auras in order to burn all the stacks, lets say your running lethal, nowhere to hide, bbq, and floods of rage right .

so you start the match, lethal removes 1 stack, you rotate gens you find the one they are working on, you kick it and see nothing so you go to rotate gens again, ( by this time depending on the map they may have got a stack back already (midwitch they would), then you find someone else and get a down, thats another burnt stack, someone saves them on unhook thats another stack (depending on if its be 10 seconds or not since distortion blocks your aura for 10 seconds a stack) so we have 1 stack left maybe even 2 if they regened them smart, so pretty much even agaisnt a full aura build they have perma immunity to auras. please explain to me how im entitled bc I was a unfair perk to be balanced and fair?

and your talking about killers running the same builds, dude we are quite literally forced to run the same build over and over in order to do good, if you dont run gen builds half t he time you get snowblaled and lose in 8 mins, and its ironic you talk about the same build over and over while every game I get its

    Distortion

    DS

    OTR

    Sprint Burst

like both sides do the same build over and over so Im trying to find your point but it feels more like your grasping at straws and keeping a me vs them mentality instead of being unbiased.

    @Mr_K said:

Because something is useful doesn't make it OP.

I explain in the above message how its not "useful" its busted, its perma Aura immunity + it hides scratch marks so even if you find them, and are in chase and you proc a aura perk say (im all ears) then they hide there aura and scratch marks IN CHASE. like dance with me does that and its its own perk yet your telling me

a perk that can negate auras pretty much all game

hides scratch marks while in chase if its proced

    regens tokens

    starts with max tokens

and only takes 30 seconds in the TR to get a token back (which isnt a big deal at all)

    "Using perks makes you bad"

Read again, that was not what i said, i said if you NEED that perk to play, then your bad

and yet most survivors need there perks to even survive, yet if a killer needs perks in order to even the odds he is bad....yeah thats great logic

But thats just bad killer play, if you need aura perks to find survivors. - Here is a free hint -> Try looking near gens, especially the ones that have progress

You do realize survivors will get a gen up then rotate to a new one sometimes right? just bc a gen has progress dosent mean anything, they could have got it to 50 then left or something for some reason. Z

aura/information perks have been a foundation of playing killer since forever, if information wasnt super important as killer then they wouldnt have info built into some killers powers...

    nem and wesker vaccines

    doctor screams

    demo portal aura

    hag traps

    legion

    plague

    pyramid head

    cenobite

    Skull Merchant

    Alien

    Singularity

all have information built into there powers, so please tell me again how its "bad killer play" to need information / aura to find survivors, when the game is quite litteraly designed that way.

    Survivor: Puts on distortion

Killer: I just hooked a guy and i don't know where to go now, guess i'll just proxy camp because i can't find anyone

    Survivors: ######### why you camping?

Im fine with it working like it does if the killer has multiple aura perks bc then stacks go away very quickly (well in 40 seconds)

Im talking about how its unfair to killers who only run 1-2 aura perks

say you run lethal and nowhere to hide

    or lethal and bbq

one stack at the start so they have 3 stacks, by the time you proc your next aura perk they will have already regened a token if they are smart, thus giving them perma immunity to aura just bc the killer didnt bring a full aura build, its the same thing with gen speeds, gen speeds are such a problem that your pretty much forced to bring gen slow to counter it, and the only way to counter distortion is to run full aura to burn the stacks faster which isnt much of an actual counter, and lets not forget that distortion hides aura and scratch marks ffor 10 seconds PER token so it would take 40 seconds to burn all 4 tokens and by that time they will have regened 1 or 2 from being in your TR thus making your aura perks useless ALL GAME

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If you cant find survivors because of distortion, then you really need to practice your killer play.

Also, its really rare that i see it, and with the current level of tunneling i think its more than a fair perk.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3662247#Comment_3662247

Meanwhile Lightborn dosnt require any tokens and can counter both perks and items, for a whole game.

So it would only be fair that Lightborn had tokens 3, and after each "blind counter" it would loose one, and only regain counters if the killer got people hooked??

blinds are not even close to comparable to information dude. thats a horrible comparison, I mean if nerfing distortion means nerfing lightborn then sure whatever, most killers who know what they are doing dont even run that perk to begin with yet people cry about it so much bc they can bully squad a killer into dcing.

  • @supersonic853 said:

The thing that confuses me about the perk is if its supposed to reward immersion. Why does it also regenerate in chase? But if it can do both. Then why can an entire group of killers bypass its existance? (Wraith being a golden example with his purple) it covers to many bases while also countering lower tier aura reveal builds. But also theres a bunch of killers that can make the perk non existant eventually. So if im clown with his purple. The perk counters me the whole game. But if im wraith with his purple. They lose.

tbh it either needs to have 4 stacks then deactivate after its used or ONLY regen in chase and start at 1 stacks. starting fully stacked is unfair asf to peopl only running 1-2 aura perk

    @Ayodam said:

ONE TOKEN literally counters every aura read perk in the game with lethal’s effects EXCEPT for the last Bitter Murmur proc in which you get a 2 second aura read after all gens are done and Hex Retribution. Not only that it tells you which perk the killer has exactly and even when out of tokens you can hide in a locker because you know what perks they have too. It’s very annoying tbh.

    this guy gets it

  • @Sava18 said:

Not op but one survivor perk shouldn't counter an entire class of killer perks so easily. I think it's pretty fair to think that. As of now you have to run all aura reading, use bad aura reading perks or have add-ons like c21 that can burn through it instantly but by then your already in chase with that survivor.

It was one of my problems with old IW as well, even if the killer ran the equivalent stridor it didn't do anything.

Imagine if killers had a good perk the consistently turned off exhaustion for survivors.

This is EXACTLY my point, its one thing when killer can counter something like blind with lightborn but distortion against someone with 1-2 aura perks your pretty much perma aura free. its stupid.

I would be fine with starting with one stack at the very least.

I should mention, I would recommend this perk to solo survivors who struggle to escape/pip as not getting first chase generally means you aren't getting first hook either so it increases your chance to make it to endgame and you'll get your gen progress points out of the way early

Edit: On the other hand, do consider that 90% of the people running Distortion do so for a reason - they don't want to be found because they are bad in chase. So while you may not get aura value, good game sense can help a lot and once you find them it is usually an easy chase.

I think perks like distortion and noed, are horrible for the game, it makes people rely on those perks instead of just learning how to get better at chase/pressure etc.

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

Distortion is a top tier perk, it just has a bad rap because immersed survivors use it to be even more immersed and this is very annoying when you play killer. Plus these survivors will often not take hook states or any pressure from the killer so their team mates die while they get hatch with zero hooks.

I use Distortion a lot but I play aggressively and am pretty decent in chases but I have had abuse end game for running that perk alone. Despite me being the one with the most saves max chase and highest points!

In the age of aura perks Discordance can be clutch in helping you pressure a gen they don't even know you are at, healing and the other day I got us all out because the Killer had Awakened and didn't realise I was right beside the hook so by the time they realised I insta-saved we all got out.

I hope people don't start using Distortion all the time though, as I want it to be slept on as its a great perk

Im fine with it normally I just think its unfair to start out with full stacks of it. I legit use 1 aura perk and its nowhere to hide, so I could need to kick a gen 4 times to get rid of there stacks, honestly it should start at 1 stack then you earn stacks in chase, I think it would be a LOT more fair that way

Why shame people for the type of play they like. I unashamedly enjoy aura perks on both sides of the fence. I don't have any issues with Distortion though.

I just find it funny that just bc I listen to music im instantly a bad killer, and that dude was talking like aura perks didnt exist since the dawn of this game.... information perks have always been a integral part of playing dbd, more so in this meta where if you dont find people fast enough they snowball you and win fast, my main issue with distortion is that you gain stacks just for being in the TR, it should be in chase, you gain 4 stacks at the start of the match.

against a full aura build sure 4 stacks isnt alot

but if all your running is nowhere to hide or BBQ it literally never lets you see there aura.

I once faced a group of 4 blendettes, all running Distortion, Urban Evasion and a mix of various perks like Head On, Deliverance, Power Struggle, etc that have the potential to turn any killer game into a frustrating experience. And of course they send me to Dead Dog Saloon, a fun map when it appears randomly, but a hellhole of misery if send to by survivors with a plan.

They later told me in postgame chat that they usually goof around and hope for the killer to DC out of pure frustration. By some fluke of luck, I was playing Amanda's Letter Pig. It was still slow and meticulous work, but with the constant Aura reading I had at least a chance to burn through their Distortion and eventually corner someone.

It was minutes on minutes of slowly paced crouching through scrubs and patrolling out of the way regions, interspersed with rare, but sudden burst of intense chases. One of my bigger criticism of Distortion is, that a killer without constant aura reading or four aura reading perks has basically no way of burning through all the stacks, while they so easily regenerate.

Is there a way to make it more effective against killers running a lot of aura reading, while not gutting killers running a single one?

and thats literally all im asking for, is for killers with only 1-2 aura perks to actually have a chance....

that one perk negates so many perks its actually stupid, and it dosent help that you can gain stacks just for being in the killers TR. like Im fine with the perk for the most part but like you just said when you get 4 mans with a full stealth build and all you have is maybe 1-2 aura perks it makes your game miserable. Im not asking for much just for the odds to actually be even.

And if you can't slow a game down without slowdown perks you're a bad killer. And if you can't end a chase without chase perks you're a bad killer. Basically if you have to use any perks you're a bad killer.

It's almost as if your opponents are actively trying to hamper your efforts and using their own skill against you, and you're supposed to use perks to give you an edge over them in certain aspects of the game.

Well killers cant play to win, survivors can according to alot in this forum

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

Killers don't deserve to see all survivors all the time without a counter

They should just make tokens regenerate in chase

Um....aura perks arent all the time they have activation requirements.... distortion you just run and dont have to do jack and you get value from it, aura perks you dont just get value from you need to either hook, kick a gen or be in chase and have a set thing happen to activate said aura.

  • @Chaosrider said:

So just because someone is using a perk it means that the perk is OP? Fogwise OP i guess. Sigh.

its op bc it starts at full stacks and regens just for being in the killers TR,

should start at 1 stack and regen while in chase, not just being in the killers TR.

it would be like STBFL starting at full stacks, it just makes 0 sense and breaks the game flow.

You don't have to listen to music when playing. Audio is a huge part of playing DbD, and if you're voluntarily handicapping yourself by jamming out when playing, you really don't have any room to complain at all. Honestly, saying "nerf this perk because I need guaranteed aura perk value because I don't actually listen to the game" is one of the most entitled things I've ever read here.

That's they way the game is designed; sometimes your whole build is countered by your opponent's build. No one is guaranteed value from the perks they run.

And while aura perks have always been around, they haven't been as numerous or as prevalent. We are in an unprecedented aura reading meta. You aren't entitled to seeing where everyone is all the time because you don't want to fully pay attention. GTFO with that nonsense.

Turn the music off and play the game as intended before you complain.

the perk in general is unfair dude, music aside the perk is stupid asf, full stacks at the start of the game and regen stacks for doing literally nothing. thats not a me thing thats a terribly designed perk thing.

it blocks aura read for 10 seconds each stack, so even if you had a aura perk proc 2 times it wont do ######### bc 10 second immunity, thats not balanced whatsoever, you get 4 of that and you can regen the stacks like #########?

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

Id be fine with it if they made they regen that way tbh, them regening just by being in the TR is super stupid as you can do objectives or just heal and gain stacks.

well other than maybe reducing stacks I think the perks token regeneration should only be in chase / being hooked meaning rather than stealth rewarding more stealth taking some pressure off the team rewards stealth

I think thats totally fair tbh, bc just being in a killers TR isnt even risky anymore play on midiwch agaisnt wesker and you constantly getting stacks back.

  • @glitchboi said:

Distortion did kind of annoy me at first but it's definitely not overpowered. It's a strong perk but not OP, you're effectively using up a perk slot to hide your aura when the killer can still very much find you without aura reading.

What I can say is that it sure as hell encouraged me to switcheroo the wall hax I usually got comfortable with before Distortion entered the meta. I'll still run BBQ, but Whispers and Spies from the Shadows are really solid and underrated perks that don't get trumped by Distortion while also enhancing your ability to look for survivors without aura reading. Deathbound is also cool, it may be on the weaker end but it's pretty fun to middle finger Oblivious survivors that just finished healing.

I love whispers, just wish it didnt proc when your near hooked people bc then it gets confusing bc you dont know if someone is around for hook save or not and then it looks like your camping lol. Spies is pretty nice too ngl.

Ill have to try deathbound sometime thanks for the perk recommends man.

  • @TieBreaker said:

I only see it every few games and it's always just some survivor playing normally. No Left Behind. Just some dude playing the match normally.

Losing your mind and calling people scumbags for runnning it is overkill.

the only ones I called scumbags are the people who run it WITH left behind and dont help there team at all. I dont think thats overkill at all I think thats a very accurate description of people who screw over there team for a easy escape like that dont you?

  • @Pirscher said:

@OneAutumnLeaf Let's be frank - if you can't find, track or kill a survivor without the helping hand of an aura read, then you are not a very good killer. Back in the day this aura reading stuff barely existed and we all managed to learn killer

I jam to spotify when I play killer, so I kinda have to use aura perks pal, and aura perks have been in the game since pretty much forever idk what your on about saying it barely existed when aura has always been used on killers....

  • @bjorksnas said:

Its not op but I definitely hate the gameplay loop surrounding it since it just leads to more tunneling / going back to hook which nobody likes at the end of the day and not giving a killer a chance to evenly spread pressure means instead of a 1v4 its a 1v3 which means its usually over before it starts

for me my only real issue is that you start with full stacks, if 4 people are running it thats 16 aura read negations...thats wild dude, I think it should start at one stack and then you earn stacks. if they have lethal it negates it then your at 0 stacks and need to actually build them up, I mean hell can you imagine spawning in with full stbfl stacks?

  • @Alice_pbg said:

how do you know the people telling you it isn't op or good are the same ones running it?

bc they defend it in end game chat lol, I like having converstations with people in end game chat, kinda wish we had a lobby chat so we can talk to everyone on in the game, would be kinda nice :)

Wait you use selfcare at the corner ? Dude are you THAT claudette in our lobby ?

can none of you guys read?

I normally run Self care + Bite the Bullet turn the corner and start healing and watch the killer run right past me lol

like do none of you know how to read actually asking?

turn the corner AKA, while in a chase against the killer

uh no I self care next to gens. and if I do self care its not really to heal but to be silent during a chase.

So ONE boon actually does something useful on SOME very specific maps and your conclusion is to nerf all boons?

every single boon is borderline cracked on indoor maps, not just one dude....

COH on a indoor small map shows you every injured survivor and lets you heal them fast

Dark Theory gives you 2% haste and if its a indoor map its almost mapwide

Shadowstep removes scratch marks and hides your aura on a indoor map your pretty much ######### and cant find/chase anyone

its not just "one" boon its a group of them on a good chunk of maps, and the fact that unlike hexs they can just spam bless them, making it pointless to snuff it so they get constant value from it.

Boons shouldnt have been released period, its a unfair mechanic that you quite literally cant ######### counter, hexes you destroy they are gone for good, but boons they just come back and rebless any totem and say ######### you.... wheres the counter play here.

thats all im ######### asking for is a genuine way to counter bo on perks without having to use a ######### perk to do so.

either do that or make it to where you can only bless a totem once each.

  • Um....no this would be a giant nerf to him since his Killer Instinct works off his TR...if anything I want them to revert the deep wound changes and that alone would be more then enough of a buff to him

  • Ill stop tunneling when the game actually rewards for me not tunneling.... most the time killers are forced to tunnel we dont do it bc we like it dude. not every killer is out to get you they are just playing to win just LIKE YOU.

or you could run one of the like 5 anti-tunnel/slug perks.....

    OTR

    Dead Hard

    Made for this

if you get downed with OTR thats a looping issue on your side, if you get hit and dont run to a loop and just run into a dead zone and get downed thats 100% your own damn fault for not being smart.

  • @glitchboi said:

If they do make Shattered Hope base-kit, then CoH would have to return to its full glory and other boon perks would have to be buffed big time and I do not want to go back to the CoH era even with base-kit boon breaking, that alone was a huge factor that made me take a break from DBD.

That said I think Shattered Hope could use some changes. It could probably be a cool bloodpoint farming perk. Allows you to stomp dull totems and then rekindle them into hex totems, and each time you rekindle crush a totem you gain a token that grants +25% more bloodpoints like BBQ's tokens. Stacks with Pentimento too. (Had a brain fart and forgot how Pentimento worked) Too bad BHVR is really shy about adding more grinding methods cause le bloodpoints valuable!!!

thats the problem with this game you cant buff something without someone wanting survivors to get buffed at the exact same time, thus putting outselves in the exact same situation every damn time.

just bc killer gets a buff dosent mean survivors needs one to o, same goes vise versa.

  • @Hex_Ignored said:

There isn't a single boon that's worth the time investment anymore so why do we need to nerf them even further?

has nobody played against shadow step on indoor maps???? go against shadow step on leerys and tell me its not a problem...

  • @xltechno said:

For now, as a common change to hex, I would like to see a change to a system where hex totems that have been Booned will trigger hex again if they are crushed.

That would be super nice, but kinda pointless bc they would know and instantly just go to it and cleanse it, would be cool if after a while it explodes and the boon is destroyed and a dim totem becomes a hex.

Free 60s of Exposed and free 30% gen slow down is not a fair trade off. The only hexes people would destroy are trap hexes.

If you're having this much trouble with Boons after the Circle nerf then that's a you problem I'm afraid.

Yeah its my problem that I run into a p100 swf who take me to midwich and all are running a full boon build and I cant find them bc shadow step and dark theory....yeah thats totally a me problem... .

  • @jesterkind said:

Boons are not designed to be single-use, it runs completely contrary to their entire design space and would be a change that actually kills the perk concept. People have a bad habit of saying boons aren't strong enough to be broken basekit, and therefore would need to be buffed, but there's no amount you could buff most of the boons by that'd overcome the fact that they aren't designed to be destroyed this way.

Shattered Hope is stupid, because you shouldn't be able to do that at all and because you can't guarantee a team actually has any boons. The answer to that is not to make it basekit, it's to either fully rework it or give it some effect when there aren't any boons in play.

Destroying your own hexes is a VERY bad idea. On-demand Haunted Grounds and Pentimento would be miserable to go against.

Boons should be single use tbh, Hexs are high risk high reward, boons are no risk high reward.... its not fair in the slightest more so when you get 4 people running that bs on midwch. .

  • @Xernoton said:

I don't think boons are strong enough at the moment to warrant this. So we would need to buff them in return, which becomes problematic for killers who can't just go look for the totem.

It would also become extremely disgusting when survivors can play around Plaything for example and ignore the totems but then you can destroy them yourself to get Pentimento.

So this would cause more issues than it would solve. The first part is especially hard to work around. Because maps and killers have a big impact on the effectiveness of a boon and therefore Shattered Hope base kit too.

boons need to be removed entirely they are fundamentally unfair and unbalanced, go against a full boon squad on leerys and mdiwch then tell me they arent strong...

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

Boons are not good enough, only one of them was ever amazing and it got nerfed. Also free Haunted and Pentimento procs are a terrible idea.

I think you guys severely underestimate the usefulness of boons on certain maps,

boons for the most part arent great sure

but on maps like leerys and midwich it makes you game absolute HELL

and its not a free pentimento proc your destroying one of your other hex totems for said proc. i think its a completely fair trade off.

There is value in wasting survivors' time, that is the whole point of it. If there wasn't, these perks wouldn't be meta.

Survivors arent on a time clock, killer is dude.... survivors can literally afk for 30 mins in lockers come back and still win if they wanted to..... idk where this myth that survivors need to do gens fast came from, survivors arent on a time clock.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3659540#Comment_3659540

I never said it was a problem if the survivor lets go of the gen themselves. If they do that, that's on them. What is a problem is when it is combined with other perks that force survivors to let go of a generator against their will. It's not as big of a deal with Pain Res + DMS since you can react to the survivor's aura going on the hook/let go right before, but in other cases like with Grim Embrace or Ultimate Weapon it's not really realistic to try to let go and wait for those perks to trigger before getting back on the gen, you don't know when they're going to trigger and you sometimes can end up wasting more time trying to counter it than you would've if you just worked on the gen as long as possible until it gets blocked.

It's very different than Deadlock, Deadlock activates 4 times per match and only blocks 1 gen each time (there's also no guarantee anyone is even doing that gen, you might get no value), whereas the Grim Embrace + DMS combo can block multiple gens at a time that were being worked on.

And it doesn't matter if it doesn't regress the gen. Gen blocking = gen progress that's not being made. That's still slowdown.

I still dont see a problem with that your taking up 1-2 perk slots for a set effect, and again its not like the gen is regressing you can literally go hide in a locker till its up and bam your still at like the same amount of progress, and gen blocks dont really help killer much either since you cant kick/regress a gen, the amount of times Ive seen a gen at 99 blocked is insane.

Grim Embrace and DMS dont stack, its still just 30 second block.

Gen blocking = gen progress that's not being made. That's still slowdown.

yeah having to wait a extra 30 seconds to pop a gen really dosent impact much dude, you can go hide in a locker and wait it out and bam, perk did literally nothing useful but waste some time.

Sorry for double posting, but this game (and in most like it) it's impossible to find balance. I don't mean new things like what you said, I meant new creative tweaks to perks to help balance. I didn't mean game modes or new outfits /killers/survivors.

And new fun perks for everyone. I've been using the same perks on my Spirit for a long time now ><

Its only impossible to balance bc of how the community acts regarding change, anytime the devs change anything the community bitches and moans till the devs either revert said change or make it worse/better, the community is what holds this game back, massively, if the devs really wanted to they could 100% balance this game but since its a 1 v 4 the 1 would be way stronger and the survivors players who refuse to actually learn the game would ######### saying its to hard to win.
