I guess it was actually Square, not Sony. (I'm talking about the video game rights to Lara, not like, film or animation) The specific studio that apparently owns the rights for the Tomb Raider games is called Crystal Dynamics, who Square sold off last year. They're now owned by a European company called Embracer Group, and apparently there's a new Tomb Raider game being developed now. It's going to be published by Amazon Gaming.

Yep, watching a friend deal with this bug right now. Tons of people bringing Azarov's because if you fall off the corner of the map, you just teleport back into it. And there's a bunch of space back behind the wall, as well.

Bhvr had good intentions, but their changes were so rushed and one sided that they miss the mark of the issue and don't see the consequences.
I am so tired of this, feels like the third update in a row where bhvr just does something that with 15 min of reflection you would see the big problems this would create while solving absolutely nothing.
It's so frustrating.
Absolutely. Funnily enough I've seen more than a couple Fog Whisperers echoing your exact sentiments.
Honestly, less spreadsheets and more time actually playing the game and watching and listening to some of the more unbiased Fog Whisperers would go such a long ways, I feel like.
Especially since I've seen a startling uptake in streams referencing that exact final word you used in your last sentence.

found themselves clear of all wrong doing.
that’s not what happened at all though?
as to content creators, I know there have been plenty that claimed they got DDoS‘d on console/Epic while others claim it’s only a problem on Steam. I have seen claims from some getting DDoS‘d while using VPN.
sad thing is, there is plenty of false claims so the true ones (that do exist) kinda get overshadowed. Also it is possible it is not (entirely) on BHVRs side if the claims of only Steam affected is true..
Otz, Spooky, and OhTofu all referenced having to switch to Epic, and afterwards, they were fine. Although I think most of their MMRs got messed up in between switching back and forth from Epic to Steam. Otz also referenced it shutting down his entire home network despite being on a VPN, so whatever was happening to them doesn't appear to be only a crash, as BHVR's statement said, (granted, I THINK their statement boiled down to basically, "In every instance of issues we monitored on our end, it was a crash." Which isn't saying DDosing didn't happen. I don't know, their statement confused me a bit.) I think the other two also referenced being on a VPN. Most of them live with other streamers so I entirely get the notion of switching to Epic if it alleviated the issue so that other people in the home didn't lose their connection/stream.
That said, WHATEVER happened was extremely, extremely weird. I've also seen people bring up that they believed a few streamers playing entirely different games were also being targeted in the same manner. Either way, whatever happened is certainly something I can't entirely comprehend.
Questions like: If it was a Steam IP leak, despite VPNs in place and people only being targeted while streaming. If they could get through the VPN in the first place, why exactly would switching to Epic change anything? I don't know, just a lot of things definitely don't add up. It's like some weird Network Spellcraft that doesn't make sense to me. It's just really bizarre.

SWFs will just designate a healer with healer perks like We'll Make It and Botany or COH or forego healing entirely as if against a Plague or Legion now, and just Gen-rush, with the Gen-rush perks you mentioned earlier.
I will say your Thana argument does have merit, though, absolutely. I hadn't thought about it. But as usual, most SWFs will adapt and just bring someone that's got a lot of healing perks or make a Gen-rush strategy viable.
As per OLD usual, solo queues will suffer the most. Thought they were gonna try to work on that; guess they abandoned that idea.

@BlueHorkew said:
This update won't kill medkits.
This will kill altruism. Med kits will be more necessary then ever. And since survivors can't reset. It's everyone by itself, try to gen rush gens and hope you are lucky.
I have a feeling, especially with SWFs, survivors are going to play like they're against a Plague or Legion. Most will opt out of healing at all and just gen rush, especially since all of the generator regression perks got absolutely gutted. Lots of games are just going to be even more gen-rushy than before.
Some SWFs will probably also designate one of their teammates as a healer. Like, with We'll Make It, Botany Knowledge, maybe COH. So it really, really hurts Solo queue. Which uh, I thought we were in the process of trying to make the game a bit better for them in the first place.

Too busy nerfing Billy. Kinda the same reason they won't buff Onryo, since she has the highest kill rate in low MMR, which is apparently the metric they use to balance things, for some reason.
Most new players are terrible with Nurse, so her kill-to-escape ratio isn't very high in low MMR, so apparently she's fine. Which again, appears to be their primary metric for balancing.
For some unfathomable, unknowable reason.
-
I mean, I just watched Otz's video on the subject, and I think he's spot on with his comments around Billy. The following paragraph is roughly the conclusion he draws, although in my words:
There's simply no other reasonable conclusion to draw - These changes are based almost entirely on spreadsheet data. Then they look at the escape/kill ratio, notice that the engravings are picked at a much higher proportion to all of Billy's other add-ons; specifically in mind to kill rates - and as such the engravings were gutted.
Of course, that's without factoring in the mindset BHVR has with balancing their Killers around low-MMR/brand new players. (Onryo is a perfect example of this, "Her kill rates are the highest! ...In the lowest possible MMR.") I'm going to assume that line of thinking had something to do with these Billy nerfs as well, as someone else pointed out earlier in this thread.
It's all just extremely perplexing to me. Whereas I know where the data comes from, these solutions are just so drastically removed from the consensus of actual DBD players and the community. It's just completely disconnected from the playerbase, and I really don't get it. I do understand the mindset that, as a gaming company, new players are always something that they're going to want to attract, and there's a pretty vicious learning curve to this game(albeit, not much curve for Billy anymore). But at the same time, when you look at what Nurse and Blight are capable of in the hands of a skilled player and see most of Blight's add-ons remaining the same, despite him being one of the two best killers in the game, and well. Like I said, I'm just perplexed.
-
That picture is adorably cute AND funny!
-
It's the bug Terion mentioned. Otz calls it out in his video today about Knight, too. It's a known bug within the community. Knight should probably be Killswitched until this is fixed. Granted, so should his map, too, because of the tile bug that's spawning too many pallets. Kind of just a buggy patch, unfortunately. Feels bad.
-
@PaintedDeath said:
Easy fix. Don't get to high MMR. Middle MMR is where the fun is anyways.
That's the problem right there, isn't it? high MMR just straight up doesn't feel good to play. And since, apparently, the dev team tends to balance around all MMR instead of end-game MMR(reason they claim they don't nerf Nurse or buff Sadako), it's never going to get better.

While I like the idea of SBMM, I don't think I'm a fan of what it's brought. Most of the streamers I watch look like they're all suffering from killer fatigue, and it's a lot more casual and fun to play survivor.
THAT SAID, in a game where three people basically hold m1 while the fourth runs the killer/rinse/repeat; I do not think increasing the amount of holding M1 said three players already have to do is a good solution.

I've been on a break from DBD for a while. But after watching Otz and a few others, I'm getting the feeling that playing killer mainly is pretty exhausting anymore. There's a couple of them that are playing survivor a bunch more because it's simply less of a sweat-fest.
-
Yeah, been watching Otz stream over the last week and he's had a pretty big influx of hackers. Well, I guess they're technically not hackers; they're people that buy programs to break the game in their favor, but I digress.

I am just playing for a few weeks and I was wandering the same. This is not a game, I will play for long. This game is build to show the worst of people.
Killers camp and hit already hooked survivors. Survivors t-bag there asses of. I really think this game need a few adjustments;
1. Killers that hit already hooked survivors, need to get a stun for 10 seconds or so.
2. All survivors need to get borrowed time standard, not as perk. Camping shouldn't be a rewarding behavior.
3. If a survivor t-bags 3 times, it should give that survivor a hit and points for hitting for the killer. If a survivor t-bag for a total of 6 times... it should put that survivor in the dying state. If the survivor does this in the exit gate, it should put the survivor on the nearest hook.
4. PC and console shouldn't be playing as cross-play. I noticed PC players cheat a lot or they can do things what console-players can't. Like dissappear, walking on stones, walking on the edge of a window, walking through walls and so on. Not sure if it is the game that allows more on PC or if it's just cheating.
Killers get frustrated by survivors and survivors get frustrated by killers. Mostly it has nothing to do with the perks, but with rewarding bad behavior. If people have more fun playing the game, maybe they don't complain as much about the perks. Survivors will laugh at the killer if they hit them when they are already hooked or if a killer try to hit a survivor that just came of the hook and killers will laugh if a survivor is stupid enough to t-bag in the exit gate... a free hook for the killer!
HOLY NECRO. This is a thread from June that Patricia, for some reason, decided to resurrect. Stop replying, people.

You might be onto something here. That might explain what i saw today.
I've been three-man SWFing all night and the matches have been drastically all over the place. Some of them are our skill level, some of them are vastly better than us, some of them it feels like it's their first or second killer game. Two of us are rank 4, but that's likely because of time spent because neither of us are fantastic at looping, unless the stars align (for me, anyway.) The third person is a rank 10 and not very good at looping, either. Our fourth person has been completely random, too, as sometimes we get decent survivors, sometimes we get people hiding in the corner self caring, and one game we got a survivor that only had one perk, was rank 17, and I felt like it was one of their first games, ever.
I'm stumped, more than anything, trying to figure out the numbers behind this test.

So you think it's ok to get unhooked in front of the killer, no ds, no bt, get downed and hooked again? All within the first couple minutes of a match? After waiting in the awful survivor queues 10+ minutes?
Sounds like a good way to spend my time, hanging in a hook for less time I spent in queue
Great game, much fun. I still don't get tunneling and camping. I leave the game thinking, "Man, that individual's got some real deep psychological issues."
-
Even with those changes, I still doubt that solo self-caring Claudette in the corner with Left Behind is going to actually play the game.
-
Killer idea is okay, seems like a mix of Spirit, Huntress, Nurse, and Wraith. Perks aren't great. Entity's Cuff sounds kind of neat, but Killer Instinct is basically just a VASTLY better Whispers and way too strong. Hard Hitter is also probably too strong.
Edit:
Also, Entity's Cuff would be used to stop survivors from unhooking. Like, imagine two people on hook, two people still up. If said people currently hooked were at different hook stages, Entity's Cuff could be activated for a potential 2k. So I think it's too strong, too. If it were amended so that they just couldn't work on gens or vault or heal, that would probably be okay. But being able to unhook would still have to be a thing, otherwise this perk would be too strong.
-
If I'm a killer, I either dodge or if my specific killer has Franklin's, I'll put that on.
If I'm a survivor and a random brings it, I punch myself in the face.
Before Moris were changed sometimes I'd Alt + F4 when I saw a hidden offering from the killer and got into the game. Now that they were changed, I think they're perfectly fine. However, keys are still the horrendous mistake they've been for a long time and need changed; the sooner the better. And I mean that whether I'm playing killer or survivor.

Literally three pages of people telling you you're wrong without a single person agreeing with you. Add to that Otz and Scott's videos, both of whom are great killers, and Otz alone has over 6000 hours in DBD. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you probably don't have 6000 hours. So yeah, either this is bait, or you're just flat out wrong. Make your choice. ;)

So far it's Kate with a demanding lead at 18 and Felix with an impressive lead of 11. I may have miscounted/didn't count some of the posts that listed like 6+ survivors.
My vote goes to Kate and Leon, so 19 for Kate and 6 in total for Leon. Think he's in second for the males.

What? @Damarus said the same thing I said, with stridor the killer can hear a survivor that runs iron will, the breathing sounds are only a bit more quiet.
If you don't believe that, you can easily test it in kyf.
This guy's right. I run Iron Will on my survivor and it's instantly easy to tell when the killer is running Stridor. You can hear your character breathing immediately when you log into the match, which doesn't happen when the killer doesn't have Stridor. And that's not even getting into the grunts of pain that happen once I've been injured, (I main Kate, who is normally a pretty quiet survivor). Stridor 100% counters Iron Will, and it seems to me to be pretty spot on with that graphic from the wiki.

Ok? I don't understand how logic makes me anything. There are one time things and instead of doing a passive aggressive insult you should at least try and see what I meant
He's saying you're blinded by your appreciation and love for the company that you yourself aren't capable of seeing the criticism people are levying towards the game. See your response to my comment? You are white knighting, even if you don't see it.
This game doesn't need to do a Halloween event, despite doing a real event that actually had rewards that drove up player retention the last two years? It's the point that this year, they skimped out on anything and instead made a cash grab.
You're repeatedly trying to humanize this company to drum up sympathy, but yet you don't understand why people would be upset about not getting anything this year when we did for the past two? Like, with earnable rewards for just playing? IN A HALLOWEEN GAME? You can't see their side of criticism, or humanize them like you do this game company? Come on now. That's why you're a white knight.
-
It's not moving in a good direction, though. Instead of doing things that will increase player retention and login time for the game, they're doing the opposite. There's a reason player retention is considered such a valuable metric when it comes to the video game industry; and pushing people away during the main season to play the game because other games are doing Halloween better simply by doing anything is a bad look. And I'm talking about some of the most historically greedy corporations in gaming right now. They're offering free things and events just for playing the game. It creates buzz and goodwill from the player, as well as interest, which in turn sometimes causes them to crack open their wallet for some of those other sweet Halloween lootz. It's a win-win for both parties.
So no, I disagree with your post in almost its entirety. The fact that they're not doing anything for Halloween and instead making a cash grab more suggests the opposite of a move in a good direction. It means they're willing to sacrifice the goodwill of the playerbase for short-sighted profits because the longevity and health of the game may not really be a concern anymore.
And finally, it's a company, dude. They don't need you to white knight for them. They have a marketing team for that. And yes, quit denying you're white knighting. It's what you're doing.

The funny thing is they should be hosting a free weekend (or week!) for DBD and giving out unique skins to anyone playing around Halloween to get new players invested, instead of trying to beat the wallets of the existing users to death.
They do have free weekends from time to time, but around Halloween when everyone is looking for spooky stuff, they should REALLY just be handing the game out and then giving people some goodies to keep permanently so they're in the ecosystem.
AND EXISTING PLAYER RETENTION! I spend tons of money in this game. Right now, I have zero incentive to play this game and a bunch of incentive to play other games because, well, they have an event. Sad that the events of shooters outpaces the events of a horror game during Halloween. Can't be that hard to make a Halloween event in your Halloween-inspired game. I mean, sure sounds like they've done it before.

While it is true that you can get quite a decent amount of BPs, tie potential is not really that high. You can get 18k Bonus BPs at max if every player burns an Offering and you are alive when the Gens are done or as Killer you get 6 Event Hooks. So a win of 15k.
But if the "Event" is only BPs, they could also do a Double BP or 1,5x BP-Event, where players can use their own Offerings. Like, if it would be a BP-Multiplier Event, my SWF-Friend and myself would burn a BPS every game (we have like Hundreds of them, since we save them for those events) and everyone in our games would get way more Bloodpoints.
This isnt really an event, it is advertisement for the Halloween-Skins.
A bad one, at that. Despite not playing Overwatch or Apex for the last six months, I've been playing both of them because they have actual incentive to play and I don't want to lose the chance at getting skins, whereas the Halloween event in my Halloween game is sorely lacking on both the "Halloween" and "event" categories. There's no incentive to play and everything they offer can be gained with real dollars at any time, so if they strike my fancy, I can buy them whenever.
There's a reason player retention is such an important metric for most video game companies that are doing well. Dunno what's up with your marketing team, BHVR, but they're really, really, really bad. Selling out the soul of your game and goodwill of your playerbase never ends well. ESPECIALLY during the Halloween season for your Halloween game that's basically lacking a Halloween event.
-

When you burn event offering you will get extra bloodpoints for every event gen repaired by any other survivor. I got 42k bp when we repaired 4 event gens and escaped.

@Withered8 said:
Honestly people are being incredibly judgy and picky about this event. Yes it's not the best event dbd has had but is it the worse? By far no.
Look at last year's halloween event. All there was was serum which you could get from the rift pass which lead to cosmetics and the standard halloween items.
This event not only brings another objective in the game again but also some pretty wacky addons for both killer and survivor.
Don't ever get you're hopes too high for an event in a game like dbd, you gotta remember at the end of the day they can't add in gamebreaking mechanings or anything that messes up the balance.
Dude. It's even a bad BUSINESS decision. I'm not even taking into account player and customer satisfaction, I'm talking BUSINESS decision. Events are helpful because they drum up buzz for the game so they sell more product, AND create player retention.
Player retention is a huge metric that a lot of gaming industries use to gauge how well their game is doing. This game has /no/ event right now. I'm literally playing an EA game and an Activision game, both SHOOTY SHOOTERS, during Halloween for their events instead of DBD because they're offering incentives to play their games and things to do during Halloween, and DBD isn't. And DBD has been my go-to game for months since I bought it since the four year anniversary. But now, I don't want to play it because it offers nothing in return during Halloween time when compared to other games, that, despite playing far less, offer rewards that I don't want to lose out on.
You can argue semantics on everything going on here, but really, can you tell me there's enough content to keep you busy? There's no Halloween or event in this Halloween Event. You gain nothing from doing it; there's no incentive. I mean, I may very well buy the rift pass because of the Kate outfit; I've never been shy about shelling out money to a game I spend time in, but I've got a month and a half to worry about getting that to like page 7 or whatever her stuff is in.
The problem is, right now, there's no incentive to play the Halloween event in my Halloween game because there is no event. There's no retention. There's nothing this game is offering me to play, beyond my usual. Other games are offering far more than their usual, so I'm playing them right now despite not touching Overwatch or Apex at all in the past six months.
That's just not good business practice. They should be pushing HARD for player retention during Halloween in their Halloween-inspired game. The fact they're doing the opposite really says to me that they're okay with selling out the soul of their game and the goodwill of the playerbase for short term profits which doesn't bode exceptionally well for any party involved.
-
EA and Activision are offering more Halloween content in their SHOOTY-SHOOTER games than DBD is in their HALLOWEEN game. A bunch of it free, too. You know, as incentives to play the game. DBD offers no incentives to play their HALLOWEEN GAME during the Halloween season.
When EA and Activision are giving players more free stuff AND incentives to play during the Halloween season than DBD is, there's a problem.
Events are helpful for both the developers and the players. Generally, the developers create an event so that it sparks an interest for the game during the season for the players, which in turn lays the foundation for retention amongst the playerbase they're trying to sell a product to. That's business 1-0-1 in gaming, BHVR. What. are. you. doing?
I generally haven't had any problems paying money in DBD because I liked the game. I've bought multiple different outfits for Kate, and bought a full set for Legion like a week and a half ago. I've always lived by the idealogy that if I like a game, and if the developers create content I like, I'll kick money to them because I like the game. But now? I'm really sort of soured on the game as a whole.
If a game creates an event, and the entire event is "give us your money, that's your event." Why would I give you money? You're not balancing creating content for all players and trying to make the game better while keeping market shares profitible, or even trying to drive up player retention. You're making a short-sighted money grab.
You're selling the soul of the game, built on the goodwill of your playerbase from the last 4 years, for short term profit, DURING HALLOWEEN LOLOLOLOL.
Learning from history is a pretty good lesson; I think we all know where this is going.
-
Want some HALLOWEEN CONTENT in your HALLOWEEN GAME? Too bad, apparently. There's Halloween content in EA and Activision shooty-shooter games that's free, but with DBD? Nuuuuuuup! Shell out dem dollars from your wallet if you want content in your Halloween game during Halloween.

It was a pretty lazy one. If you could do a repeatable blight pump for 25k like those archive quests allow you to do then it would be alright. I think that there needs to be more of an incentive to play. I have warzone installed and get to play against friggin' zombies (in which they never had in the game before... telling us they built these from scratch just for the event), and they adjusted the battle royale to be accommodating to this (adding in the nighttime theme).
There isn't really an incentive to play this, they make it seem like grinding for the BP cosmetics (that aren't even that great-looking) is something that is enjoyable. Why not have like a bonus BP for a certain killer each day of halloween and give them an outfit when for doing something simple like getting 4 hooks with them. Same could be done for survivor(s) except they could do a few gens... but no.. lol, we have this and it REALLY REALLY had 0 effort put into it. This is a Halloween-themed game and we have the laziest event to celebrate it.. way to go.
Basically what I said in another thread. I LOVE Halloween, it's my favorite holiday. One of the reason I like DBD so much. But, uh, shooty-shooter games have more of an incentive to play than this game does right now DURING HALLOWEEN. They have UNLOCKABLE awards, so an incentive to actually play, whereas this is: "Hey, look, buy our trash in the store! That's our event!"
Would love some Halloween in my Halloween game, but like, nope.

So, there is no event. It's just a new cosmetic collection.
That's what I said. Like, on their side. More money from micro-transactions. Now, if you were asking if there was an event for players, that's a pretty firm "no."
Pretty sad that I'm more interested in playing other games for their Halloween events, since I can actually earn cosmetics in them, than playing DBD right now.
Like, I feel like I'm missing out on other games' limited time cosmetics if I don't play them, since they're earnable. But DBD, which, up until yesterday, was my staple, play-every-day game, I don't want to play because they don't offer any type of incentive whereas Guild Wars 2 and ACTIVISION Blizzard's Overwatch both offer events with things for free, that I'd be missing out on if I just played Dead By Daylight all day.
To me, it's crazy to think that a Halloween-inspired game offers nothing in terms of rewards for its event, but other games that aren't at all horror genre related have better rewards and incentives to play during Halloween. And I DO buy cosmetics in DBD when I like them; I just dumped twenty bucks about a week and a half ago for some Kate and Legion costumes I really wanted.
But right now, I don't have any incentive to play DBD. Their event is bad; other games do it much better. And if I decide to buy the Rift eventually, well, I've still got almost a month and a half to pick it up if I want that Kate costume. I'm missing NOTHING by not playing DBD right now DURING HALLOWEEN, because they're not incentivizing it. Other games are.

Got called entitled because I logged into this game for the Halloween event but the "event" was missing.

Somebody asked me what I thought of the event, to which I replied, "There's an event?"
Of course there's an event. Happy Microtransactionoween!!!

It's not history repeating itself, it's a company doubling down on displaying how willing they are to cannibalize the good-will of a community and player base for short-term profit.
Dead by Daylight: BEhavior - Horror game. Perfect for Halloween. Awful Halloween event that doesn't do anything different, offers no free skins without 200+ hour investment.
Overwatch: ACTIVISION Blizzard - Shooty shooter game; almost nothing to do with Halloween or Horror. Three full skins for three different characters for, you know, actually playing the game. And a bunch of chances to get older Halloween skins with the current currency or the boxes you get daily and from leveling up.
BEhavior looking greedier than Activision. That ain't a good look.

Iridescent shards are a free way to get 4/6 of the new skins
Never Stop Slashing not having mask animations despite the fact it is possible to implement such (look at Oni f/e) and is missing a lot of details from the sketch everybody voted for (like colour of the coat)
Its a acknowledged sound bug which might actually become a feature to make spirit have to actually play the game
Discordance was a weird one I will give you that
Their main focus was and still is pc, but right now they are planning a head and working on next gen
Just because its event only now doesn't mean that isn't subject to change if community feedback is strong enough, such as plundering ultra rare items from chests or keeping bloody party streamers and escape cakes/pudding
Macmillan maps generation is bugged. They can only play so many matches with their small team of course if you generate a map a million times rather than 20-30 there can be bugs
Groaning storehouse borderline OP window, just drop chase or pick a killer with a power or perks that plays around it
Shelter woods are still shelter woods, thats the design they want if they wanted to add more to the map they would have
Thanatophobia phobia nerfed more than buffed ok, the idea was to still incentives survivors to heal having a perk that is slowdown on top of slowdown is a bit much
We are going to live forever having less amount of ways to earn tokens (Head On saves don't give tokens f/e) this one is a weird one they scuffed it a bit but having a secondary effect finally is nice
Pyramidhead nerf that horribly crippled him and his camera, oh no pyramid head has to actually play the game now, at least they made his power faster which lets you try more interesting plays
Killer having weird models and animations when spawning in the trial this doesn't even affect gameplay it just shows what the first person model actually looks like from 3rd person which is more interesting then anything harmful
most of these complaints are honestly just nitpicking to try and complain about something
Do you refer to Behavior as m'lady, too? Because that amount of white knighting, I just, I can't even.
"most of these complaints are honestly just nitpicking to try and complain about something" Most of your responses are just white knighting to try to white knight about something.
21k shards isn't "free". That's the cost of two full characters +. That's time investment. That's 200 hours in a game. That's $1720 dollars working minimum wage. Get out of here with that "free way".
They don't need you to shill for them, they have a marketing team. And honestly, with that response, that's all you're actually doing, Mr. Shillly Shill White Knighterson.

Glad you're enjoying your 7 match Halloween event in your Halloween game with no Halloween event! Well, a 7 game Halloween "event," I guess.
